It's interesting bc would Zelda have a need to use her light powers? I don't think so, but I think it's pretty easy to integrate another part of the light dragon's power into her. In the game you can attach a star fragment to a magic weapon (rod, staff, etc) and give it little light projectiles, Light is a legitimate element in the game that can be used to blind enemies. But that's not the power that the light dragons parts give you. It heals Link with every hit instead. It doesn't heal what it impacts, it heals him specifically. It also feels comforting to him.

So what I would do is combine this with the idea of before where his arm is deteriorating at a rapid pace and there's not much they can do to stop it. The only thing that slows down the gloom damage is Zelda's light-healing magic. But when she uses her light healing magic, it feeds into the last remaining bits of the dragon that still remains inside of her. and every time she uses it to heal Link, that part of her only grows. She's still just delaying the inevitable but as a consequence, she's bringing out the part of herself she thought she had left behind.
