Found this XKCD today. It is so true. Mind you, for months now I am doing the IT support in my company because nobody else wanted to do it and I am actually good at it - because I have the patience of a saint when it comes to this.

I kid you not: I have no idea how half the programs I do support for work. But most of the times the issues are so obvious, that I don't need to. ("How do I upload this?" - "Have you logged into the database?" - "... Oh.")

I accessed somebody's PC, looking to help them install a VPN so they can use their personal device to work from home.

This machine was full. FULL of porn. The downloads folder was nothing but porn. The desktop was nothing but (mercifully) VLC icons.

I have a strong stomach for this kind of thing, but YOWZA clean up your shit before you have the techie around, alright?

I really wanna play marvel rivals with a friend but it refuses to work.

It took me forever to preload because of my slow wifi and then when I finally tried launching it, I got hit with "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument." Then after editing the launch options in the properties in Steam to try -d3d12 then -dx12 I kept getting the same error. Finally I tried -dx11 and got "Unable to launch with RHI 'DirectX 11' since the project is not configured to support it." I ran dxdiag and my system does support DirectX 12. I also made sure Windows was updated to the latest version and my graphics drivers didn't need updating. I also verified the integrity of the game files. I think it's either my system not meeting the requirements, like something to do with the integrated graphics or it's something on their end that I'm hoping gets patched. I've seen a lot of complaints about the DirectX 12 error but not really any solutions so far.

My computer is cursed. My boyfriend swore up and down that there should be no reason for it to do this to me anymore, and yet here we are, with a computer that has suddenly decided the monitors don’t exist in the middle of my game of baldurs gate despite literally every single part being brand spanking new. The graphics card alone cost literally $300, and my boyfriend who literally works in IT set everything up himself. Apparently the computer just randomly gets confused and tried to run the wrong graphics drivers but he literally went through and manually cleared out all the old drivers so there SHOULDN’T BE ANYTHING TO CONFUSE THE COMPUTER ANYMORE!

“what if kids identify with something and it ends up just being a phase-?” good. stop teaching and expecting kids (and adults honestly) to formulate permanent traits and ideas of themselves. everything in life is a phase. that doesn’t make it any less legitimate while you experience it. let people explore themselves and know it’s okay if what you think about yourself changes.
