#Jason vs Percy

I wish we got Jason being upset or jealous or something of Percy being closer to Thalia than he was. Annabeth too, tbh.
Like, can you imagine what that would have been like. Thalia is the ONLY family Jason really has. Camp Jupiter thinks of him as a soldier. His mom is dead and his dad is Zeus.
And he barely has any relationship with her!! He didn't even know she existed for most of his life and then they finally found each other but they had to split up after just a few hours and only saw each other a couple of times after that! Meanwhile Percy has gone on multiple quests with her and got to spend around a year with her and they were already pretty close at the start of TTC. Annabeth spent a year on the streets with her and also got to hang out with her pre-TTC to the point where Percy was competing with Thalia to be Annabeth's best friend (albeit one sided) And then there was Luke and Nico and the hunters of Artemis and even Reyna.
Just. Idk. Give me Jason wishing he could have that with Thalia.

jason: father, i pray to you. i ask you for your generosity and to assist me by granting me a single lightning bolt. i will be forever grateful for your kindness and goodness.
zeus: fine. just one though.
percy: *creates waves hundreds of feet tall, summons a hurricane, splits a glacier in half, and drowns an entire army of monsters without even hesitating*
poseidon: haha. nice.

The fact that in house of hades Annabeth is like "Nooo Percy 😭 what you did wasn't good some powers should never be used like that 😰" and then the narrative actively decides to prove her wrong in Blood of Olympus? By having Percy listen to Annabeth's ideology and nearly get killed for it in his fight against Polybotes? He doesn't use his control over poison and nearly dies from it. Had Jason not convinced Kymopoleia to help them, Percy would have died. Listening to Annabeth would have killed Percy.
(and then Percy says that he deserved to die for what happened to Akhlys and Jason is like mood bro and it's never brought up again 😑)
And THEN, in the same damn book Nico literally turns Bryce Lawrence into a ghost and Reyna who has trauma associated with ghosts goes: yeah it was scary and reminded me of my dead abusive dad, but Nico we all have darkness inside of us and we should get to release it. Plus you saved us soooo ☺️

i don’t think the big three kids are actually banned from teaming up during capture the flag. i think the stipulation is that they have to take the kids. so it’s like all the brightest and best fighters and most skilled members of camp, including those who have like. made even one plan in their lives, vs. ninety newly armed children who have been fed a breakfast of gushers in orange soda corralled by the most powerful and most impulsive demigods to ever live

Imagine 10 year old Nico info-dumping to Bianca about pirates and Greek Heroes.
Now imagine HOO Nico on the Argo 2, looking back at it all and realising he’s basically now a Greek hero AND a pirate, but he isn’t able to info dump to Bianca like he used to. 💀
Imagine him going to tell Bianca before realising-

I need to see more demigods who bite. Like jason totally feels the need to bite stuff, and leo half-jokingly suggests getting him a chew toy (like a dog). Nico absolutely bites to show affection, (maybe not willy nilly like jason but still) like just randomly biting people he's close with shoulders or hands because he just loves them so much (jason both bite to express affection and stim)
Anyways petition to normalize neurodivergent people who bite as a form of expressing affection or stimming.
oh absolutely. I actually have a tier list of "which of the Argo II crew & co are most likely to bite:"
Jason gnaws on people to show affection. He is extremely "Everything I love belongs in my mouth and everything I hate belongs between my teeth." He mostly stopped doing it for awhile cause of the whole "being trained to be the Perfect Praetor™" and having to mask a lot more, but he picked it up again a bit when he and Reyna became friends cause she didn't care and then more with the Argo II crew. He definitely hoards chewlery. He also definitely bit Krios real bad when they were fighting, if not outright killed him with his teeth.
Nico is a younger sibling. He has no qualms against biting in fights, any fight, but he does associate biting with fights. Jason tries to friendly-bite him one time and Nico just takes it as declaration of war and they end up tussling for like five minutes. After he gets used to Jason though he picks it up a bit too, mostly just chewing on people's hands. Also I 100% hc that when he was in Tartarus he just went full teeth-and-claws mode to survive. Honestly he bites more in regular combat and even training than Jason does, mostly just cause he's not above fighting dirty. If it works, it works. Also I hc he has sharp canines and is small so he might as well.
Frank's third but only on technicality cause shapeshifting. When he's human he's pretty much equal level to everybody else which is "only bites as a last resort."
Everybody else is pretty on-par with each other but Percy is probably just sliiightly more likely to bite not for any particular reason, he just considers it a valid fight tactic in a pinch (unlike Nico, who just considers it a general fight tactic). Also he got the oral stim adhd vibes. He has a lot of chewlery. They're all sea-themed, of course. Thalia is also pretty equal to Percy in terms of "biting as a valid fighting tactic."
Annabeth is also like. She's less likely to bite than Percy but more likely to than the rest of the crew. It's just a valid battle tactic under certain scenarios to her (and that includes training). She does consider it a low-blow though. She's also definitely got the oral stim adhd too. Lots of chewlery, rip her pencils and pens, etc etc. Her and Percy probably have a shared chewlery collection.
Piper is not the bitey type but she does have little to no formal combat training so yknow, wet cat technique. I do also totally believe she'd also have a chewing stim though. Like yknow how I draw her with the little braid sidebangs? Yeah she definitely chews on those and that's part of why she wears her hair like that. The other reason is that braiding it is one of her other stims.

I need a Nico and Reyna vs Jason and Percy fight.
As in, they’re playing Capture the Flag and there’re three children of the Big Three so they don’t know how to make it even until Nico’s like “I’m fine with Reyna.”
Now, people have always known that storm and rain and whirlpool are a thing. But that day, they realize that a child of death with a child of war is something straight out of the Apocalypse.
And also Reyna can do a lot of damage despite her lack of elemental power.
As in, they work together extremely well - like how death and war have conquered so much land before - and proceed to demolish the game.

Jason who immediately loses respect for people who don't own up to their mistakes vs Annabeth who would rather die than admit she made a mistake
#jason vs annabeth. autism vs npd lol#idk what the outcome is. i don't think they'd fight physically. but jason would get on her ass. and she'd be so fucking pissed abt it#she'd strategize different ways to put him in uncomfortable situations for whatever reason#and he's just vibing through them because he's been uncomfortable his entire life. pretending to be bacon for a monster is not new#anyway jason looking at his dad who's refusing to admit he made some dumb decisions and immediately going this guy is an idiot fuck him#happy talks pjo#npd!annabeth#jason grace#annabeth chase#oh oh annabeth needing everyone to like and trust her and jason's lost respect for her drives her up the fucking wall#she's the only one of the seven who could really be considered friends with all of them and jason's judgy eyes make her want to explode#she 100% rants herself to sleep about things he says. maybe that's where percy and jason's beef arised from#percy recognizing that annabeth is fustrated with jason because jason is blunt and doesn't really know to soften his words.#so now percy is fustrated with jason because annabeth is the source of his personhood right now. meanwhile jason is just vibing oblivious#no social awarenes whatsoever. anyway lol#but oooooo see leo's inferiority complex actually makes him fess up to errors in a way that judges him (jokingly but not really)#even if the error wasn't his fault. but it's his willingness to admit to his mistakes that makes jason really appreciate and trust him#so we have npd!annabeth who can't admit to being wrong because it would kill her ego#and then inferiority complex leo who does admit to being wrong because he hates himself#and when he fucks up he is quick to confess (often in a self-deprecating joke manner) so that no one can say anything that would hurt him#if he kills his ego before other people can even attempt it then he's safe from their judgement in some way#okaaaay bac to studying lol

The Demigods Discuss: Man vs Bear
(tw for implied SA topics in dialogue)
Literally the demigods just talk abt the man vs bear question and why girls choose the bear
“Annabeth,” Percy asked, “do you know about the Man vs. Bear internet debate thing?”
Annabeth and the rest of the Seven Demigods sat in conversation on the Big House porch at Camp Half-Blood. Piper sat next to her on the porch swing, and Percy was in a chair on her other side.
“Yeah,” Annabeth answered. “What about it?”
“What do you think about it?” His green eyes contained no judgment, just curiosity.
“Like, which would I choose?”
“Yeah.”
“Well…I suppose it's different since I’m not mortal,” Annabeth said thoughtfully. “I could technically defend myself just fine if the man was mortal. And since I’ve killed so many monsters, a plain old bear probably wouldn't scare me much. In a fight, I’d probably choose the mortal guy. Especially if I don't have any weapons.”
“Oh, true,” Percy said. “What about, uh. Demigod man versus…like…one of the magic bears Artemis hunts?”
“Then, yeah. Bear.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm.”
“Well, it’s easy for you to pick the bear,” Leo butted in from his conversation with Jason. “You could just think up a way to kill it, easy peasy. Or punch it in the snout and send it crying home to its mama bear.”
Annabeth considered that. “That's true,” she said. “The point is that the man is still more dangerous, though.” She noticed Frank, Hazel and Jason were suddenly quiet, and everyone was looking at her now.
“What if he's a less powerful demigod?” Jason asked. “Son of Iris or Baccus or something?”
“Well…part of the hypothetical is that you don’t get to pick the man. It should be the same for a demigod; you don't get to pick whether they're powerful or not.”
“Hmm. I guess that makes sense.”
“I’d still choose a bear over a random mortal guy,” Piper joined in. “Mortals can still hurt and kill demigods.”
“Yeah, they technically could,” Annabeth said.
“And I don't have my dagger?”
“Nope, no weapons.”
“Okay. I mean, I guess I could charmspeak the mortal guy into leaving me alone. But like, what if they sneak up on me? I’d have nothing.”
“I’m pretty sure a magic grizzly is more dangerous than a mortal guy,” Percy said skeptically. “Can you even charmspeak a bear?”
“I’m…not sure, actually,” Piper said. “But, I mean…the worst the bear could do is maul me to death.”
“But the mortal’s just…some guy,” Jason argued. “What's the worst he could do to a girl like you?”
Leo’s expression changed so severely that Annabeth thought he was going to start his deck chair on fire. Annabeth knew exactly what he was thinking, but she was surprised—and a little impressed—that he was the first one to give Jason a scolding look.
“What the fuck do you think, man?” Leo snapped. “Pipes, you want to burst his bubble, or should I?”
“Yeah, man,” Percy growled, “what the hell?”
“No, I know!” Jason held up his hands, looking at Leo warily. “I just meant that Piper could fight him off, easy. Couldn't she? And there's a good chance that the guy doesn't even want to hurt you.”
“Okay, listen,” Piper said. “Take it from someone who's been surrounded by mortals for my whole life. They can be as smart and vicious as any demigod. There's plenty of them who are stronger than me. If the only thing I have is my charmspeak against some guy who really wants to hurt me, demigod or human…all they’d have to do is cover my mouth.” She gripped the edge of the porch swing she was sitting on.
“And if you were mauled by a bear,” Annabeth added, “at least people would believe you.” She threw a pointed glance in Jason’s direction, and he flinched a little, giving Annabeth a glimmer of schadenfreude.
“Yeah,” Piper said, “that, too.”
“I suppose I shouldn't underestimate mortals, either,” Annabeth reflected. “I mean, it’s not like I have any powers besides wisdom. I’m generally pretty confident in my ability to defend myself, but…I don't know. Hubris is dangerous. And I haven't spent enough time around mortals to really know what they're capable of, like you, Piper.”
“Annabeth, you're way tougher and smarter than any mortal,” Percy said. She could tell he was trying to be reassuring, but he also didn't really get it. How could he?
“I know, Seaweed Brain,” she said. “Thank you. I do still think a bear would be easier. I wouldn't even have to kill it, just get it to run away. And it wouldn't come back to retaliate with the sickest torture it can think of. It wouldn't pretend to be my friend and care about me, and then hurt me when I least expect it.”
“That's…very true.”
Annabeth noticed Hazel hadn't said anything. She sat between Frank and Leo, watching the conversation. Her expression was hard for Annabeth to read.
“You okay, Hazel?” Annabeth asked her.
“Mmmhm, fine.” Hazel nodded.
“What do you think?” Piper asked. “About the argument.”
“What's the argument?” Hazel asked. “What are the man and the bear from?”
“A hypothetical that people on the Internet are talking about lately,” Annabeth explained. “If you were alone in the forest, would you feel more scared coming across a man you don't know, or a bear? Women keep choosing the bear, and men keep getting angry because they don't understand why.”
“Oh, alright. That's really interesting.”
“Yeah,” Piper said. “It kind of…puts into perspective how much more afraid women are of men than men realize we are.”
“That's definitely true.” Hazel tapped her fingers on the arm of her chair. “I actually would rather be alone with a bear than a strange man. That's crazy. Like you said,” Hazel looked over at Piper, “the worst the bear would do is kill me. And even then, just because it thinks I’m either food or a threat. It won't hurt me just because it wants to.”
Annabeth observed Frank, who was sitting next to Hazel. He’d been quiet, maybe afraid he’d say something insensitive on accident, like Jason had. The thought made Annabeth like him even more than she already did. His expression, listening to Hazel talk about her fears, was full of sympathy and worry.
“That's terrifying,” he said finally. “Is that something you guys think about all the time?” He glanced at Piper and Annabeth.
“We have to,” Piper said with a dejected shrug.
“She's right,” Annabeth agreed. “If we don't stay cautious, bad things happen. You know how many horrible things happen to women in Greek and Roman stories. The tricking, the violence, the blame getting pushed onto the women for mens’ bad behavior or mistakes.”
“Yeah,” Percy said. “Dark times.”
“But those things still happen,” Annabeth continued. “The specifics change, but…humans don't, really.”
The demigods were quiet for a moment. The only thing disturbing the silence was the cool breeze rattling the porch’s wind chimes.
“For what it's worth,” Hazel said, “I’d choose to be with any of you boys in the woods, over a bear.”
“Aw, shucks, Hazel,” Leo grinned. “That is high praise.”
Frank kissed his girlfriend’s hand like they were an old married couple. Percy was smiling the cutest smile Annabeth had ever seen—besides the one he’d given her at the picnic table after their first proper kiss. His cheeks were pink. Jason blushed and smiled, too, a little uncertain.
A genuine compliment from Hazel Levesque could make anyone’s day, Annabeth supposed.
“Hazel’s right,” Piper said, “after all we’ve been through together, I’d trust each one of you guys with my life. Even Leo, I guess,” she teased.
“Hey, now!” Leo said indignantly.
Piper laughed.
“Same here,” Annabeth agreed. “Despite how annoying or ignorant some of you can be,” she said in Leo and Jason’s direction with a playful smile, “you guys are alright.”

Just posting this for the ppl who LOVE to push the FANON narrative that Jason and Percy aren't close friends as CANON. Grover is listed as Percy's main best friend (along with Annabeth ofc but she remains in the girlfriend category) and Jason comes literally SECOND in the Official Riordan wiki fanpage, and he's even labelled as "one of percy's best friends" not just "friend" or "close friend" like the others.
I don't get why people deny this SO bad like- pls let the almost nonexistent rivalry they both had (which is mostly between Jason and Percy fans) stay fanon.
"Jason and Percy are just co workers, barely even friends" Yup. Sure. I was so mislead by this narrative before I picked up HOO and was pleasantly surprised by how genuine percy and jason's friendship was in the books.. I half expected them both to ignore eachother or something throughout the scenes with how much the fandom exaggerated their rivalry/coldness with eachother.
Fanon is awesome. But it's not when you push it as canon. Let them be two seperate things please.

Guys, does anyone remember that excellent post about feral Jason taking on Krios barehanded.
I remember stuff about Krios snapping his shield and throwing him into a wall or something. And then advancing on him like he was prey. But he wasn’t prey, he was a wolf. Something like that.
And then stuff about him going batshit and having like ichor staining his mouth?
I need to find that post if anyone knows where it is. I seem to have lost it.

“jercy as perseus and andromeda” “jercy as apollo and hyacinthus” no. jercy as icarus and daedalus (MINUS THE FATHER PART.)
percy warned jason. told him the gods didnt care, that if he cared he’d just get hurt. in his yearning for heroism jason still helped, and it led to his death.
he wanted to see how far he had to go to make his father proud just as icarus wanted to see how high he could fly before the wax melted…
