The year is 1998. A private jet belonging to the Roottree Corporation has crashed. On it were The Roottree Sisters and their parents. Combined, they were worth over a billion dollars.
Now, due to the eccentricities of their great, great grandfather, Elias their money must be redistributed to the rest of the family. But who's actually a BLOOD RELATIVE? That's where you come in.
Armed only with the power of your mighty dial-up modem, you'll scour for photos, books, articles, and other evidence. Then, you'll make connections and deductions based on the family relationships you uncover. With every spot on the tree you fill in correctly the names and photos left in your possession will have fewer and fewer places to go, but the evidence will also be harder and more obscure to find.
Can you find the final pieces of the puzzle?
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Play for free in your browser on itch.io, or add it to your Steam wishlist to be notified when the rebuilt/enhanced audio/visual experience is available.
📝 This is a fun game with a rewarding mystery. You'll feel great every time you fill in another part of the tree. The logic puzzles aren't too easy or too hard, and you'll become engrossed in researching for hours or days at a time. New to detective games, or think this looks daunting? Try out Saffrona's The Family Tree.

What puzzles are good for ADHD?
For people with ADHD, puzzles that engage multiple senses and provide immediate feedback can help maintain focus and interest. Some good options include:
👉 3D mechanical puzzles like Rubik’s Cube: These offer tactile stimulation and visual feedback.
👉 Tangrams: Allow for physical manipulation of pieces and quick problem-solving.
👉 Speed puzzles: Timed puzzles can provide the right level of challenge and urgency.
👉 Digital puzzle apps: These often offer bright colors, sounds, and immediate feedback.
👉 Jigsaw puzzles with interesting themes: The visual appeal can help maintain interest.
👉 Logic puzzles: These can be completed in short bursts, suiting varying attention spans.

crazy that gravity falls was like, hey what if we made twin brothers, and one of them is the worse one. he gets bad grades, he likes to punch his problems, everyone thinks of him as “the other one.” he’s engulfed in a shadow that’s shaped like him. he doesn’t even have his own name—it’s derived of his brother’s name, the only one his parents planned on having and using. everything about him is derivative—imitative of another person (his twin brother) (the one everyone likes and wants) and is disapproved of for that reason (he isn’t just “bad at this thing,” he’s “not as good as his brother”). and then he ruins his brother’s science fair project (the one next to his own—no one noticed it because it’s not good, it’s almost stupid next to a “perpetual motion machine” made by a high schooler) (he tried to fix it) (he doesn’t know how; he’s not as smart as the guy who made it) and he gets kicked out. the potential of the money his twin could’ve made is enough to throw him onto the street, and he can’t go home until he makes that money back (the money that was never gained and therefore was never lost. he never had a chance of making enough). he took every job he could (his brother went to school). he got banned from multiple states (his brother bought a house). he traveled internationally and went to prison and had people try to hunt him down and kill him because he couldn’t make enough money (his brother’s house has three basements. he made them himself, as secure as can be). and when his twin finally summons him for help, things go wrong (he messed up this machine like the last one) (he doesn’t know how to fix it. he isn’t as smart as the guy who made it) (he tries to fix it) (he was never any good at reading and these blueprints are impossible, coded and fragmented and in a science that he didn’t know existed) (he tries to fix it). the townspeople ask who he is, and he doesn’t even say his own name (it was hardly his to begin with). and he invites them to a house that isn’t his to show off experiments that aren’t his because he needs to make money that can’t be his. everything he does for the next 30 years is in his twin’s name, for his twin’s sake. he had two funerals for himself and it isn’t even his body in the casket; he had to wear his brother’s name to both of them. if he had died before he fixed the portal, that funeral wouldn’t have been for him. we meet him as a funny and unique character, but in-universe, he’s only ever been defined by someone else.
and then they went, this is entirely in the background btw. most of that is going to be revealed in one episode and won’t be addressed again. he’s a primary comic relief, even. I’m ill about this.
#‘stripped for edible flour in Tijuana’ not even for money. not even cooked food. for FLOUR.#I took a benadryl and wrote this instead of passing out#so if there are any typos or weird leaps in logic lmk. the latter I just hallucinated typing the connection. or accidentally deleted it#gravity falls#stan pines#robot rambles#didn’t know how to put it in the post but he IS the worse one. they’re all right about him (compared to ford)#(because it’s always and only ever in comparison to ford)#he’s derivative. he’s his own man. he loves his family. his family ruined him.#his desire to be rich is so deeply-rooted. it’s always been tied to success and happiness#winning the game show really would’ve been everything.

I was a kid with a Hunger Games hyperfixation and, from time to time, I'll get reminded of the books. With Trump's inauguration and the TikTok ban and unban, I can't stop thinking about a political tactic called panem et circenses, or bread and circuses.
In Mockingjay, Collins writes "'It’s a saying from thousands of years ago, written in a language called Latin about a place called Rome,' he explains. 'Panem et Circenses translates into "Bread and Circuses." The writer was saying that in return for full bellies and entertainment, his people had given up their political responsibilities and therefore their power.'"
In Collins' world, the Hunger Games was the entertainment. In ours, it's social media. Twitter, Meta, TikTok, are all controlled by political powers. Musk, Zuckerberg. TikTok is owned by Yiming and Rubo, but with the ban and unban, the content it shows in America is filtered to fit Trump's political agenda.
It's entertainment at the cost of information.
#looking at the hunger games as a kid like 'wow look at that logical extreme'#growing up and seeing it happen#this shit's fucking unreal#the hunger games#mockingjay#quotes#book quotes#donald trump#america#us news#us politics#i try not to make too many political posts#but it's hard not to speak up when fundamental human rights are being violated#and free speech is being silenced#the hunger games was a comforting nightmare as a kid#because it was so unrealistic#the parallels are getting to close#tiktok#tiktok ban#panem et circenses#bread and circuses#twitter#elon musk#meta#facebook#instagram#mark zuckerberg#social media#free speech#zhang yiming

Card Game 1
Simple card game. With element of random. Here works everything based on random. It is a game of random, I can say. For free time. Or fun. It is not a serious game, in any way.
It has entertainment point. You receive 4 random cards. With numbers from 1 to 9. And make a stake. And you have with the start 200 value. The same thing will make your opponent. And it is going same way until someone reach its balance as zero. Cards are generating with random.
So, what is the idea of the game. You have 4 cards. And opponent – it is computer controlled – he has also 4 cards. Cards with numbers. Every card has its own score. From 1 to 9. So, in a result, you have 4 random cards in your hands. And this way are generated the scores. So, it goes, that minimum you have scores 4 at your hands. So, this means, that every card from four cards have one score. And in total four cards. And maximum you can have 36 scores at your hands. So this means, that every card will have score 9. And in total, there are four cards in your hands. The same things are about computer player.
And with this, you also have a balance. Count it as a scores of you have for gameplay. Numbers. For saying it easy you have 200 dollars. It also uses a dollar sigh. Just because of it is a retro system. And it has built in such a sigh.
And according to your scores, that you have in your hands. You are making some stake. Any kind. Let’s say 10. Let’s say 50. Or whatever you want. The same thing computer to do. According to some logic he thinks about his scores and makes a stake too.
And next, everyone shows cards. You can see now cards of computer and his stake. Your cards and your stake. If you have more scores at your cards, than a computer player, then you will receive his stake. And his balance goes down according his stake. And reverse.
And this goes until someone will have a balance zero.
It is a game of chance. Because of all numbers on cards are generated randomly.
Game is called the simple way - Card Game 1. Without any ambition to any super idea.
Game is made in retro style and has a retro text style of decorations and control.
Basic Pascal pack - whole pack of games and programes, written with basic and pascal. It is retro. With each game and program there is a page at author`s website. There are aditional information, descriptions, pictures, arts.

I love the sneak peek of LeBlanc and Vladimir's dynamic.
Vladimir *walks in*: "Wow that last plan almost destroyed the world. Can we tone it down next time? Maybe talk to Mel"
LeBlanc *slowly as she paints more schemes on her magic ipad*: "noooooo".
Vladimir: "......*confused*"
LeBlanc: "The next plan needs to endanger our lives even worse."

Game State in Grid-Based Puzzle Games
youtube
Components of Game State in Grid-Based Puzzle Games
The game state in grid-based puzzle games includes several unique elements that define the game's situation at any given moment. These elements include:
Grid: The grid is the main element, consisting of cells arranged in rows and columns. Each cell in the grid may contain a specific element (number, color, or symbol).
Cell States: The status of each cell in the grid, including the values contained in the cells, and whether the cell is fixed or can be changed by the player.
Goals and Objectives: The goals that need to be achieved to complete the level, such as arranging numbers in a certain way, matching specific colors, or clearing a certain number of symbols.
Remaining Moves: In some games, players are limited to a certain number of moves to solve the puzzle.
Interactive State: The most recent inputs from the player, such as the cells that have been clicked or the moves that have been made.
Timing: In some puzzles, there is a time factor that determines the remaining time to solve the puzzle or the time it takes for the player to complete it.
Importance of Game State
In grid-based puzzle games, the game state plays a central role in how the game interacts with the player and presents challenges. The game state helps in:
Determining the Current Status of the Puzzle: Checking if the player has achieved the goal or still needs more steps.
Providing Guidance and Feedback: Offering immediate feedback to the player based on their moves, such as notifications when cells are moved correctly or incorrectly.
Managing Resources: Keeping track of the remaining moves or time, adding to the challenge and encouraging the player to think strategically.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the game state plays a fundamental role in the design and development of grid-based puzzle games. It provides the foundation for all player interactions with the game and presents the necessary challenges for an enjoyable and engaging gaming experience. Understanding and effectively managing the game state enables developers to create rich and fun games that encourage players to think and solve puzzles strategically and logically.
