JOKE'S ON YOU I'M PUTTING BOTH IN ONE DRABBLE
~ 24. kisses for a cover ~ 27. desperate kisses ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Phantom, please!"
Phantom didn't understand what was being asked of him. He was only marginally aware of someone shaking him. Vigorously. It was slightly annoying, if he was being honest.
"C'mon, you gotta get up!"
"I don't wanna." That much was true. One thing he was very aware of was his pounding head. So much so that nausea churned in his stomach and he wondered if he was about to throw up.
Could ghosts even throw up?
“God Phantom, they’re coming! Why won’t you get up?”
Well he certainly didn’t know who was coming, but it had to be urgent if Danny was being so insistent with him.
Wait, Danny?
He cracked open an eye and sure enough, he was met with the sight of the blue eyes he’d fallen for so long ago. In spite of his swimming head and blurry vision, he grinned. “That’s what she said.”
It only took an instant for Danny’s face to transform from one of worry to one of utter disappointment. “Seriously? You take a hit like that from Mom and Dad and all you can do is crack jokes?”
“Only for you, darling.” Phantom allowed his head to loll backward. Maybe he could convince Danny to take a nap with him. That sounded nice.
“Oh, nuh-uh. You are not passing out on me now.” Warm hands wrapped around his shoulders and yanked him back forward. “Not until you get out of here before they find you!”
Phantom pouted. Was that something he usually did? Probably. “I don’t wanna,” he said again. A sly smile bloomed on his face. “Not unless you gimme a kiss first.”
Danny threw his head back. “Ugh! I swear, you - no, you know what? Fine.”
If there was one thing Phantom would never tire of, it was the feeling of Danny’s lips on his. Even now, sitting half-conscious in some random alley with a boyfriend on the edge of panic, he couldn’t get enough of it. Eager to keep kissing, he prodded Danny’s closed lips with his tongue. At least he was pretty sure he did. Maybe it was less of a prod and more of a shove. He couldn’t quite tell.
Much to his displeasure, Danny pulled away. “Are you kidding me right now? You seriously wanna - no, no! We’re not getting into this right now.” Somewhere in the back of his mind, Phantom wondered if he was supposed to be participating in this conversation. “You got your kiss, now get your tail out of here before they get here!”
New voices tickled Phantom’s ears. He tilted his head. He couldn’t quite make out what they were saying, but everything still sounded muddy, in all fairness. “Oh yeah, they’re right around the corner,” he said brightly. Really, he wasn’t sure what all the fuss was about. He just wanted to get back to kissing.
Danny groaned, and Phantom found himself drawn in by the sound. Only he got the impression that was not the kind of groan Danny was intending.
“Okay, okay, okay,” Danny muttered to himself, clutching his head in between his hands. “Think Fenton. Think.”
“Nooo, no thinking,” Phantom whined. He pawed listlessly at Danny. “Kissing.”
He couldn’t find it in him to care about the angry glare shot his way. “I swear…”
The voices grew closer.
“Argh!” Danny threw his hands up in the air. “You so owe me for covering for you like this,” he hissed, bringing his face close into Phantom’s.
Before he could respond, Danny had once again sealed his mouth over his own, and Phantom melted instantly. See? This was so much nicer than thinking. It was about time Danny saw it his way.
“Danny?”
The incredulous cries of Jack and Maddie Fenton forced the two apart. “Gah!” Danny whirled around. “Mom! Dad! Haven’t you heard of privacy?”
“Privacy?” Jack scratched his head. “But… we’re in the alley.”
Maddie held up a weak finger. “You a-and… and him?” she asked, clearly still in disbelief. “But… I-I don’t… Danny?”
Phantom smiled widely and draped himself over Danny. “Hi!” he said, greeting the two warmly. “Your son is a reeeaallly good kisser!”
Danny buried his face in his hands. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~ Send me a ship and a number from this ask game and I'll write a drabble or draw a sketch!

A DC X DP IDEA #22
Back in my day.
Imagine dis…
Alfred is a whole mystery to the Batfam that whenever he pulls out his shotgun we are in awe at this kickass badass British butler, on the other hand, we are always in the shadows of his past endeavors. We all knew he was a S.A.S. Armed Services, fighting in 15 different operations between ages 18 and 20. A skilled medical and front liner soldier who was decorated. He later joined MI5, as well as the secret forces of the Queen and later being knighted by Her Majesty.
He is silent as he comes by, he can out Batman the Batman despite Bruce learning from the greatest assassin of all time. He is calm, too calm for any situation to the point your subconscious asks if he had seen something wilder, more insane to consider an alien attack, a mutant crocodile attack every Tuesday is considered somewhat tame, or even the rise of global or universal threats that Alfred seemed to brush it off.
So, who is he?
Alfred Pennyworth had always been a mysterious figure. He had dedicated his life to serving the Wayne family and their caped crusader alter-egos as Bruce Wayne's loyal butler and the revered keeper of Wayne Manor. But Alfred had held a secret for decades, one that would finally come to light most unexpectedly.
Alfred was a teenager called Danny Fenton long before he donned the perfect suit and tie. He lived in the small town of Amity Park, which was riddled with secrets of its own. Danny was not your typical adolescent; he had a strange encounter with a ghostly gateway that had bestowed upon him unusual and otherworldly skills. He had protected Amity Park from vengeful ghosts and spectral threats thanks to his power to shift into a phantom hero known as Danny Phantom.
Danny had just recently been crowned as the crowned prince of the Infinite Realm a week after he had defeated the tyrant Pariah Dark who had attempted to rip off a space in the fabric of in-between just to suck in his little quaint town. It was determined by both the ancient and the Observants that it was better for him to finish his mortal life before he dawns on the crown, as he was still growing, he was still considered a baby ghost younger than Young Blood as his death was still recent.
But slowly the thoughts that he had kept behind his head are coming back to him. Jazz his beloved sister as well as the one who had raised her despite being a child herself who had no idea of raising a child, may analyze her all she wants but she could never sympathize nor connect with his inner thoughts of being one of the halfas. He died, he never really had the time to process it because he had to face the Lunch Lady just a few days after the accident.
His friends, now looking at them closely, have seen that they both have some sort of guilt in their eyes. They both have seen him die amid the electrician, he can’t help but feel some sort of longing at the cemetery the north of Amity Park, he is too alive to have a grave yet too dead to be alive.
He thought he was getting there, changing the views of the people. To show the world that his kind is sentient but the people kept whispering. Shadows cast long by the looming specters sent chills down their spines. Every eerie wail or flicker of a ghostly presence filled them with dread. Their eyes widened in terror as the ethereal figures materialized before them. A hushed silence fell over the town when ghostly battles raged in the skies. Parents warned their children to stay indoors when the ghost alarms rang. Fearful whispers of the "Ghost Boy" circulated, both a hero and a phantom menace.
The ghostly encounters left scars of fear etched in the minds of Amity Park's residents.
In the end, he was forced to leave his home dimension, why? It’s because the GIW have become more vicious more brutal at their hunting, With the sacrifice of both his friends and family they have shoved him into the portal, never to be seen again.
All bloodied and still injured he had landed in a period in the early 1900. He thought that he may have accidentally traveled back in time but when he saw too many conflicting events that he had learned during his high school days that didn’t happen during this time led him to believe that he had traveled a different dimension. Small ripples in the water created a tsunami of change in what he previously known as the past, when he was still in the streets gathering information, he had noticed that he landed in the middle of London during the early 1900s. Good enough that child labor laws are still not a thing so he can work with practically anyone without questions asked. The bad news is that his supposed great-grandfather's version in this dimension had already died, according to his family tree history during his science project in 4th grade his great-grandfather went to London to earn a few bucks before traveling back to America where he would meet his supposed great grandmother and have children. Since he died before he even went back to America the Nightgale-Fenton line died with him.
Luckily a barren couple took pity on him and took him in, since Danny can’t no longer bear his original last name, he embraced the new name from this nice couple who had taken him in. Danny may have felt guilty at the prospect or even the idea of replacing his family but he can’t help but think of it as a new beginning of his life. No one to hunt down his ghostly half, No GIW, and No fruit loop trying to turn him into his heir.
Alfred Pennyworth
During this time he did a lot of odd jobs, cleaning the inside of a chimney, mining, selling newspapers… etc. Sure, it was hard work and he can’t help but look at the children far younger than him taking in jobs far more dangerous just so they can shave something to eat. He can’t help but feel too blessed when he was back in his timeline. Warn food to eat under a sturdy roof to keep out the elements as well as education. Things that were too mundane, too common, that he now feels like a luxury.
Over time he developed an accent as well as new mannerisms and vocabulary.
So, when war broke out on the horizon his core ached at the notion of protection thus signed up in the military.
Sure, he became the most feared soldier in the fields due to his using some of his ghostly abilities subtly. His enemies who stand in front of him call him The Vengeful Orphan, due to his avenging every soldier who seems to die at the hands of their enemies.
Between the ages of 18 and 20, he served in the S.A.S. Armed Services, engaging in 15 different actions. A decorated medical specialist and front-line soldier. He then joined MI5, as well as the Queen's secret forces, and was knighted by Her Majesty.
As time passes by the ages, slowly but surely. He had already outlived his adoptive parents and friends of his. He still held the authority of being the officially crowned prince of the Infinite Realms. He had already explored the world experiencing the culture and history of this world.
At this time, he had already recovered enough ectoplasm to turn back to his ghostly prime and create a portal to the Infinite Realms. But something in him nagged, his core kept trying to tell him something when he was about to take a step inside the portal, but he didn’t seem to know why. His years as Phantom and Alfred Pennyworth taught him to listen to his guts, and it saved him multiple times, without looking back he stayed in this dimension until his mortal life perished.
It seemed that he didn’t have to find it for too long as he was approached by none other than Thomas Wayne with the preposition to be Wayne’s butler.
So, when little Bruce Wayne was born he couldn’t help but feel a little fond of the tyke. He reminded Bruce of himself when he was just a simple young boy before everything. When the fated, night came he tried to shield Bruce from everything, to have him resemble a somewhat normal life.
That night he tucked in a teary-eyed Bruce into bed who had just witnessed his parent’s murder. He faced the ghosts of both Martha and Thomas who had been with the young master since the incident a few hours ago and tearfully promised the two ghostly couple that he would take care of Bruce. Both couples seemed to be in shock at their butler who had seen them but felt relief that their boy was in safe hands.
When his ward Bruce Wayne turned into a crime-fighting vigilante, he can’t help but softly snort at his outfit. Sure, he admits he had a worse outfit when he started as Phantom when he was just a young lad but he is willing to take anything other than a furry suit that fights crime at night. He has no right to criticize either since his alter ego is just him with an inverted color without a mask yet people seem to make no connection between him and Phantom, in his defense he is a young teen whereas Bruce is in his 20s. He just raised an eyebrow at his outfit and Bruce immediately changed the design to be a bit more sophisticated than just a Halloween costume of a bat.
So when Bruce starts to bring in orphans he can’t help but smile fondly as the manor is slowly filled with such joy from each child that seems to find a home in the large manor. He can't help but reminisce if this could have been his life if Vlad had learned to forgive Jack or if his parents and Amity Park just accepted him if the GIW didn’t exist. He thought one day when he was drinking tea with Jason, Jason who died and came back different, never broken. His grandchild who experienced his death in a slow yet painful way died and came back later. He knew there was something different with his grave but he chalked it up in being his ghostly sense sensing the ectoplasm around Gotham. He just wished he checked the grave even though it holds so much sentimental value to the dead.
Don’t get him wrong the moment Jason came back to enact his revenge on B he was already aware something was in Gotham he just didn’t know at the time that it was Jason. He is more than happy to kill the Joker as he had taken mortal lives when he was serving the army but Bruce might notice and he still held fear at the idea of Dan.
After the entire revelation between his son and grandchild, he just welcomed back Jason into the manor as if nothing was wrong with the boy and prepared his favorite dish and snacks in the library whenever he visited.
Now it had been a long way since he entered this dimension, now the long table at the manor is filled with guests and children alike. His grandchildren are full of life despite what had life thrown at them. Dick was the first one to arrive and started, Barbara followed, Jason who took off the wheel, Tim with his brilliant mind with his worrying caffeine intake, Stephanie who fought with his father, Cassandra who started just to atone for the sin of killing her father yet became loyal and caring young lady and Damian who started to learn what humanity is like. Sure others had been emotionally adopted but all of them all have places in the manor.
His grandchildren as well as his pseudo son kept throwing him curious glances every time, He managed to seemingly appear behind them to notify them of dinner. He can also feel the envy of walking silently from the assassin-trained children. He can feel Bruce’s stare whenever he raises an eyebrow at some classified cases that are supposedly secured. He can hear their whispers as they exclaim to one another that he supposedly knew everything, of course, he knew everything the manor became his new haunt after a few years.
He already raised an eyebrow at the simultaneous alarm from every vigilante at the dinner table but imagine his surprise when he joined in looking over the Bat computer as Oracle barked out orders and instructions, as a familiar opponent showed itself.
A green glowing monster is wreaking havoc throughout Gotham it came from Central City and marched its way here to Gotham which became even more powerful due to the ectoplasm in the air. There is already notable damage from both cities as the rest of the heroes seem to work together to evacuate and stop the creature. The JLD attacks seem to have some effect but it was useless due to its minions that kept them occupied. Oracle is so focused on the situation and doesn’t notify their pseudo grandfather to disappear from behind her.
The entire JL is starting to feel hopeless as the green creature seems to raze Gotham as if the stone road is made out of water. Every magician and heavy hitter have been called but no one was able to put damage to the creature.
When all hopes seemed lost, they all heard a loud bang from a shotgun.
Alfred Pennyworth is standing on top of a rubble of concrete and metal, the butler of Batman, the pseudo father, and grandfather of the entire bat clan, also known as Agent A. Carrying his signature shotgun and a thermos that seems to strap to his hip like a belt.
He kept firing round after round from his trusty old shotgun and pausing for a second to reload. He glanced at the heroes around and seemed to raise an eyebrow at the absolute massacre that he had just done to the creature’s minions.
As he paused to take another reload, he paused at movement and looked at the space in front of him and waited. The creature appeared roaring out in fury but seemed to pause the moment it laid eyes on Alfred. The creature seems to shake with uncertainty and fear. Every vigilante and hero present could see its eyes growing wide from shock and fear as well the cold sweat as Alfred raised an eyebrow at the creature as he slowly walked towards the creature with annoyance with every step.
Some heroes who had enhanced hearing could hear Alfred muttering about, back in his day blob ghosts were these cute and harmless things but now some up-start wannabe newly formed one seems to think he is all hot shot.
He proceeds to scold the creature as if he had just caught one of his grandchildren sneaking their hands on the cookie jar and proceeds to take out the thermos and effectively catch the creature. As if the one responsible for the mess never existed in the first place.
Now the bat clan has rules when they are in the manor or the presence of Alfred and one of those rules is that there will be no swearing when he is around, but there is one word that seems to resound from each hero's mind.
What the fuck just happened?!?!
Now as you know I started to post less, now it is both from writer’s block and class being in the way.
PS: If someone out there wanted to continue or make a fic about this you are free to do so, don’t forget to tag me though.

thinking of geto being in possesion of well known female yokai Kuchisake-Onna (killed/considered to be vengeful) and Tamamo-no-Mae (considered to be pure evil/to have destabalized japan)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and him taking in girls (who've suffered)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
+ all his yin characteristics. sometimes the face of female rage is a teenage boy /j
in all seriousness, there's something to be said about monstrous femininity in jjk as it relates to geto. gege's doing this not only to contrast him against gojo, who stands in as a patriarchal figure — as the head of one of the oldest, most respected families in a misogynistic society.
gege's playing with horror tropes.
geto's corpse is possessed by an entity that is both a mother (to yuji as kaori itadori) and a father (through violence against women, as noritoshi kamo), with a domain expansion called womb profusion. elements and themes commonly found in the horror genre. typically embodied by a female or feminine-coded figure. (reminder of life and its inevitable end, fears of lacking agency in your own body, etc).
then there's the way geto's painted as the "ideal man" before his defection, just like a lot of these spirits are painted as the "ideal woman" until they are wronged in some way— leading them to lunge at humanity. it seems to me that, much like female ghosts and spirits from folklore (x), geto's lingering presence in the narrative is meant to be seen as a phantom of society’s making. a product of exploitation. and so by linking him with all the aspects of monstrous femininity, gege calls people to ask "could this have all been avoided?"

Sudden thought I had:
Phantom, after everything he did for Amity, now being an adult (I'm putting at 27 here) with the necessary emotional maturity to recognize that he doesn't owe them anything, seals the portal, places the entire frame in his lair for safekeeping, along with all the blueprints his parents had, and leaves to go explore the world, like his little girl likes to do so much (I'm a sucker for Danny adopting Ellie, and being very supportive of her while also being always ready to be summoned next to her and crack some skulls if needed).
While going through Paris, and finding a pair of teenage heroes, like he and Valerie had once been, Danny decided he can take a break from his travelling to helpd these baby heroes and give them the training and support they need.
They get along better than anyone expected. Danny is Life and Death, Balance personified. Who else would be better to teach the hosts of Creation and Destruction than the one who embodies both in perfect balance?
I'm envisioning Danny sits down to have a nice chat with the Guardian about getting the kids proper training, and he's not going anywhere. The kwami in the box swarm him because he feels like a spirit of incredible power, and really, what else would happen except Danny finding himself taking spiritual custody over two teenage heroes who are clearly way over their heads fighting literal adults.
Step number one: get legal custody of Adrien Agreste and get his father charged to the fullest extent of the law for being so negligent to his own son.
I'm seeing this going 2 ways:
Danny gets custody over Adrien, moves into an apartment next to the Dupain-Cheng bakery, and their place becomes Vigilante Central, with Phantom often watching over the kids as they go out at night, typically going invisible to not give away his presence.
Hawkmoth tries one last desperate move to get the Miraculous before the police come for him. He takes to the field...and is subsequently trounced by Phantom, who beats him into the ground for picking on a bunch of children instead of getting therapy.
Plucking the Miraculous and setting the kwami within free from the old man's control, certainly expedited the process of acquiring custody over Adrien, but it also sent the poor boy spiraling for a while.
Or 2:
Their entire issues are solved by Gabriel being unable to use his Miraculius, because prison doesn't really...allow...jewellery. Which means Hawkmoth no longer shows up. Until Natalie, ever loyal to her boss, picks up the Moth Miraculous and tries to make his dreams come true. Except Phanton is...a little more ready to throw hands, and by the gods she's going to catch them whether she wants to or not.
By the end of it, Danny just doesn't really go anywhere else. Just stays in France full-time to help raise these two reckless kids. And sure, Marinette has her own wonderful parents. Doesn't mean Adopted Cousin Fenton won't spoil her rotten and enable all her chaotic gremlin tendencies while also keeping her safe. Add Ellie into the mix, and Paris has never been more happy and yet annoyed by all these gremlin heroes running around, cracking the most awful jokes and keeping the city safe.
Tumblr media
I actually really like the idea of option 2, not gonna lie. I like the slow, dawning realization some people might have, Adrien specifically, as they realize the possible reason for Hawkmoth's sudden disappearance. While I usually like public reveals for Danny, for Hawkmoth I actually prefer more low-key ones because I know people would probably blame or question Adrien for not knowing sooner. (Because let's face it, this is the same world that lets kids like Chloé get away with all sorts of stuff.) So I think if I ever wrote a fic following along with this kind of idea, I would actually go the route of #2.
You're giving me such brain worms, don't do this to me! One of these days I may actually have to commit to a crossover between these two specifically, and I already have so much to write TAT

AKECHI GORO — PERSONA 5 NAME ANALYSIS
Major p5r spoilers, minor “The Boy Detectives Club” spoilers.
First and foremost, I’m starting with Akechi because I thought his name was the most obvious, so I know the references in his name better. I will be making a post about Joker too, and hopefully more if I find enough material.
Akechi, meaning wisdom and intellect, Goro meaning “Fifth son.”
You might think that it was smart of the persona devs to name him Akechi for this reason, but it actually goes far deeper than that. (There’s reason for the name Goro too!)
(i promise this is relevant) Edogawa Rampo is a Japanese author who is highly important to mystery and thriller genre. He lived through the 19th-20th century and wrote many books considered classics.
Being a mystery writer, of course Edogawa had a main detective character. Known in the stories as “Japan’s greatest detective” is Akechi Kogoro, a private investigator inspired by Sherlock Holmes. That being said, naming your detective character “ Akechi” is pretty much equivalent to naming your detective character “Holmes.” Funny, right?
Akechi Kogoro is undeniable a genius, but quite eccentric. (For any BSD fans, the character Rampo is somewhat based off of Kogoro!) He appears in MANY of Edogawa’s books, as well as Edogawa’s juvenile fiction series, The Boy Detectives Club. Kogoro is a master of disguise, particularly good at disguising as young women. (Perhaps explaining Goro’s more typically effeminate appearance?)
Of course, Akechi Goro in Persona 5 is inspired by Akechi Kogoro, but it goes farther than that! I believe Goro is specifically based off of Kogoro in “The Fiend Of Twenty Faces,” the first book in Edogawa’s juvenile fiction series. The fiend of twenty faces is a gentleman thief based off of Arsène Lupin. I don’t want to spoil his name, So I’ll be calling the gentleman thief Kichi. Kichi and Kogoro have a relationship of mutual respect despite being rivals. Kichi is particularly well known for a character inspired by him, that character being Joker from Persona 5. I’d say Kichi is a notably worse person considering he threatened a group of ten year olds, but thats another story.
I won’t get too into whatever Kichi has going on since that’s more related to Joker than Goro, but you get the idea. Initially however, Kichi was going to be called “The phantom thief of twenty faces” but it was ruled out because… It wasn’t appropriate enough for kids..? Regardless, Joker and Goro are clear parallels to Kichi and Kogoro, from Mutual respect to their rather dramatic rivalry.
SECTION TWO - Akechi Goro & Akechi Mitsuhide
Goro’s name holds a genius double meaning — The other being historical figure Akechi Mitsuhide. Considering this is based on reality rather than fiction, this part may be a bit disturbing. I’ll be using Goro for Akechi Goro and Akechi for Akechi Mitsuhide, because it feels wrong to use his given name.
PS: Im a random canadian teenager, Please tell me if i got any history wrong!!!
Akechi was a samurai in the Sengoku period, but also a grand traitor. Best known as Oda Nobunaga(One of the three great unifiers of Japan)’s killer. Akechi was Oda’s bodyguard, but rebelled against him and forced him to commit seppaku, which is essentially suicide. Goro’s use of mental shutdowns is likely a reference to this, as is his rebellion against the Phantom Thieves.
SECTION THREE - Crow, Kuro, and Karasu.
Goro’s codename “Crow” is pronounced in Japanese as “Kuro”, which is “coincidentally” also the word for black. Because of this, as soon as the Black Mask was mentioned (i had already been spoiled on Goro’s codename) I immediately knew it was going to be him.
Crows represent misfortune and death, but also self-reflection and intelligence.
And finally, something that was most likely unintentional but I found funny nonetheless. When Akechi first teams up with the Phantom Thieves, he suggests his codename be “Karasu”, meaning crow. The other members suggest Crow instead since they all have english codenames. The first time (I think?) Joker is given an official name is in a spin-off manga, in which they call him Akira Kurusu. It probably means nothing, but I found the idea of codename Karasu working with Kurusu pretty funny, so I decided to mention it anyway.
That’s all I caught on to!! Let me know if I got anything wrong :)

Rebels Rewatch: “Out of Darkness”
Hera and Sabine go on their mandatory Season One friendship bonding field-trip, only there’s more teeth and less TIE fighters involved in this one lol.
It’s a feature in a lot of kids cartoons to take two members of the cast, typically two that clash or have friction in some fashion, and put them in A Situation in order to help them appreciate and understand each other more, especially in early seasons when the show is busy establishing the myriad of character dynamics and relationships.
Whether or not this understanding sticks varies.  Fortunately in Rebels’ case Status Quo Is Not God, and Hera and Sabine keep the general understanding they came to in this episode throughout the rest of the show.  (This may in fact be part of the reason Hera advocates so hard for her in “Trials of the Darksaber”.)
Tumblr media
The Phantom does not have seat belts, so please enjoy Ezra and Sabine clinging for dear life to the cargo seats.
Sabine rolls her eyes a little bit here when Ezra asks to be taught some of Hera’s “high flying moves”.  She is still not impressed by his attempts to sound cool and suave, even if he’s not directly flirting at her, lol.
Still love Ezra’s cute little nod here when Hera asks if he’s ready.
Oh hey!  Death Star trench run cue!
“You may ask.”  Snrk, SUCH a parent line.
We never got the reason behind why Fulcrum’s intel was becoming ah... poorly researched, and given how belly up the last mission they did on bad intel went (”Rise of the Old Masters”) Sabine’s suspicions actually seem very reasonable.
Her broken trust in the Empire led to her loss/estrangement from her first family so you can understand why she’s trepidacious about trusting some stranger she’s never met with the general safety and well-being of her new family, especially since it seems to be under threat more and more.
Tumblr media
Sabine goes to sulk in the background there lol.
The animation is super bouncy and loose this episode, which I kinda dig, shows off a lot of character and emotion.
‘course the trade-off is that some of the early budget constraints of the show become unfortunately noticeable.
Zeb and Ezra trying to sneak off and then visibly deflating when Hera calls them. XD  Like a pair of siblings trying to duck out of chores lol.
Sabine lets some anger come out in her tone here, she’s still very hurt by everything that happened to her at the academy, and we can’t be much more than a year or two out from it.
Major Found Family vibes in how she’s acting like a typical rebellious teenage daughter, even lampshaded by the “Learned from the best.” line.
Beyond this one maintenance hallway we don’t see much of what’s on this floor of the Ghost.  I like to think the refresher is probably on this level.
Ahhhh the early days when Chopper was even more of a deliberate menace to Ezra and Zeb. XD  Makes the eventual bond between him and Ezra and how he becomes one of Ezra’s closest confidences even more heartwarming.
And now somehow the three of them are in the second level main hallway.
Lol Hera doesn’t even question her boys trying to murder Chopper.
So this is a case where both parties are technically in the right--the secrecy surrounding Fulcrum is there to protect Sabine from being forced into confessing what she doesn’t know, and protect the wider Rebellion from discovery, but Hera could also stand to trust Sabine a little more given Sabine’s stated trust issues.
This fandom likes to act like keeping secrets (in a clandestine guerilla war type scenario at that) is the worst possible thing to do to another character though, because this fandom is actually very bad at understanding how war works, despite the title of the franchise.
So yeah, I have seen more than one bad take trying to call Hera out for this episode.
I am begging y’all to stop coddling characters’ traumas, just because Sabine has Backstory Problems with being asked to not question superiors and having secrets kept from her does not mean she’s entitled to Hera’s need-to-know information about the wider Rebellion network.
Alright, rant over, let’s get back to the episode.
Tumblr media
Fort Anaxes here was originally an asset planned to be used in TWC (and it did eventually see the light of day in the revived Season Seven).  But er... there was kind of a planet attached to this base, and definitely no fragmented asteroid belt.
Does make you wonder what exactly, ah... happened to said location.
I mean besides the obvious “everyone got ate by the nasties”.
(Something to be said for the usage of almost apocalyptic imagery this show has sometimes, familiar locations we know from before are now in ruins, blown up, shattered apart, people living in the rubble.  Layers of untold history, hints at background conflict, artifacts of disaster unsaid but looming present.)
See me being impressed with the camera movement once again, with this sly pan down to the fuel leaking from the shuttle.
I don’t really have anything to say about this conversation, it’s just great.  Just two characters who both have good points trying to understand each other.
Sabine being blunt in how she’s feeling but also holding back so much from the audience, though Hera clearly knows.  Given “Trials of the Darksaber” it’s probably safe to say that Hera’s the only one who actually knows any details about Sabine’s disaster at the academy, which means Sabine has already shown a lot of trust in Hera before and is partly wanting a little reciprocation... which of course Hera can’t give her because it could compromise the Rebellion’s mission.  And Hera probably wishes she could assuage Sabine’s fears more but Hera has always been the one most battle-minded and clinically practical about what they do.  She’s a Rebel leader, she has to manage her assets, make the hard calls.  So she does hint that there IS a larger goal and picture but there’s not much else she can actually do to ease Sabine’s mind here.
There’s no real resolution to the dilemma either, the episode ends without Sabine being brought into the loop, like what might happen on other shows.  It’s a realistic touch, leaves us with a bit of mystery to chew on.
The pain and hurt in Sabine’s voice here is also nicely acted.
Huh, well, turns out I did have something to say about the conversation. XD
Oh, ALSO.  Hera’s little verbal deflection/misdirection when she says, “We--Kanan... he knows what he’s doing.”  Very sneaky.  Part of their whole cover is pretending that Kanan is the one in charge, that he’s the leader, even though it’s clearly Hera.  An extra layer of security to deflect Imperial attention off Hera, make them think she’s just the pilot.
And if you guessed that parts of fandom also took a bad faith interpretation of this ding ding ding you are today’s winner, once again y’all have got to learn how war works.
This music cue here seems to be tied to the fyrnocks, it makes another notable appearance in “Gathering Forces” when we return here.
Literally all they are missing for this to be a full horror movie are some decaying clone corpses.  Or at least empty armor.
There’s a hissing sound effect and very faint smoke that comes off the fyrnock’s feet here, if you’re sharp-eyed.
The asteroids drifting in front of the sun are a very nice environmental danger aspect.  Lends tension, gives a ticking clock.
Zeb listening to his funky space poprock. :)
Tumblr media
Please do not think about how Ezra is so tiny and light that Zeb can pick him up one-handed.
Tumblr media
Lol a very stern pointed finger from Zeb here all, “STAY.”
Seriously, how is this maintenance hallway accessed?  They were down in the galley.  Animators, I need the blueprints here.
Ezra so eager to believe Kanan is being a super cool amazing Jedi but no, y’all boys just loud ha ha.
Love how Sabine puts hands on her knees like the barrel full of explosives is just a cute puppy she’s aww-ing at.
Aside from one glaring shot that is repeated (once you see it you cannot unsee), this sequence is pretty nicely edited.  But then I think most of the action sequences in this show are well-edited.
Once again, Luke’s Theme used as a hero theme for the Ghost. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
C’mon tell me that isn’t a badass shot.
I do have a certain fond affection for Ezra’s slingshot, as useless as it is against Stormtroopers and Inquisitors.  It’s exactly the kind of improvised weapon a bratty street kid would have.  And Ezra actually looks really cool here jumping down to protect Sabine and cover her and Hera’s escape.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is pulling that thing aaaaaaaall the way back, look at him.  No quick stun shots on these draws, he wants to put those fyrnocks in the freaking ground.
I mean can you blame him though?  This boy has a hero complex and a guilt complex, he’s probably been mentally kicking himself for his role in getting Hera and Sabine stuck like this since he found out.
Ezra proceeds to ruin his genuinely awesome and heroic, “I got your back!” moment by getting a bit cocky and trying to show off.  Because he’s fourteen and Sabine makes him a dumbass.
He doesn’t seem to feel at all emasculated by Sabine jumping back down into the fray to shoot the fyrnock off him, though.  Tries to use it a flirting opportunity in fact.  Interesting to note this is the one time Sabine genuinely sounds irritated with him and the strongest she shuts him down.  Though frankly I think it’s mostly that she’s annoyed she had to pull his ass out of trouble after he was party responsible for her and Hera being in danger in the first place.
Anyway, enjoy these next few caps for no particular reason. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“There’s a LOT you don’t know about my ship.”  Aaaaaaand the censors were asleep for that line.
Tumblr media
C’mon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a guilty kind of hesitance in Ezra’s body posture here, before he masks it and hides behind his attempt at a playful tease.
Tumblr media
Right, he is absolutely feeling super guilty about putting her in danger and does not know how to approach her about it to apologize.
As I said, the resolution to Hera and Sabine’s conflict this episode is really more of an accepted stalemate.  All Hera divulges is that, yes, we do have a plan, we do have allies out there, and Sabine is like, “Okay I guess that will have to suffice.”
Tumblr media
Sidenote: Sabine looks really pretty in this episode, I dunno if it’s something about the lighting or what.
Another episode that sometimes gets the unfair moniker of “filler”.  I mean even if it was that wouldn’t be a bad thing because sometimes you need to just let your characters have a break from the main plot to interact and grow and pick up allies and bounce off each other.
But also!  We’re back here literally two episodes from now in probably one of my favorite scenes this season.  I just love when plot elements come back. :)

Danny Phantom dream
I had a dream that I was the daughter of the richest family in Amity Park. My mom was too busy with social events to take care of me, so I was raised by my dad. While my mom was stuck up al looked down her nose at commoners like the Fentons, my dad encouraged me to not judge someone until I get to know them and be polite and kind to everyone, he even had a friendly working relationship with Jack and Maddie Fenton. My mom was OBSESSED with winning this competition (I forgot what it was, I think it had something to do with stuffed animals), but kept losing to Danny (for some reason) and would complain about all the time until i finally told her that I didn't care about it, because I was busy with a project (we were supposed to have a partner, but mine was Dash, so guess who had to do ALL the work) and didn't care what she did. Well, she took this to mean "use dark magic to hurt a 14 year old boy" apparently, because she cast this voodoo spell (I remember it had something to do with controlling floors, for some reason) that was causing Danny hell. I didn't know about it until mom forced me to go to this social event to keep up the appearance of the "loving mother" she very clearly wasn't. I remember I was wearing this long, form fitting white dress with a sleeve that turned into a glove on the left side, but the other side didn't have a sleeve, and I was wearing a matching elbow length glove on the right, Danny was wearing a white tuxedo (he came to blend in so he could stop my mom's madness, I think it was a white event or something) when he saw me (looking like I REALLY didn't want to be there) he ran to catch up with me and grabbed my hand, telling me to wait (he knew me from Lancer's class, but I was always too busy to talk to him) and called me by name. I looked at him confused and asked "Do I know you?" Before he could answer, my mom used the dark magic she got from the spell to tie us both up, telling Danny that he wasn't going to ruin her night. After the typical villain speech where she "thanked me" for giving her the idea (and repeating my words to me, which doesn't make sense, because nowhere in there did I say anything about using magic to bully an innocent teenager), she left us somewhere no one would find us (I think she was doing something tonight that would make her super powerful). I apologized to Danny for my mom's behavior and how she was bullying him and added that I looked beautiful, I returned the compliment in kind, he told me it wasn't my fault, I wished that none of the events that lead to the current events and that the only thing I'd regret was not meeting Danny sooner. Desiree heard me (she may have disliked Danny, but even she wasn't THAT evil) and granted my wish, instead of twisting it up into something awful like she normally would, she actually did it without the consequences. She rewound time back to when Lancer was assigning partners, "persuaded" him to partner me up with Danny, and found the spell that caused all the trouble and destroyed it. Mom wasn't happy to see Danny in the house and made him feel small under her glare, I just rolled my eyes and lead him to my room to work on the project. We didn't get much done that first couple of hours because we spent it getting to know each other, he was sweet and got as excited as a puppy when he saw my space stuff. He told me the reason he never approached me before was because Dash always told him that I was out of his league and I would never like someone like him (the opposite was true) after the project, we started going out (with my dad's approval and him keeping mom busy so we could just be teenagers) and I met Tucker and Sam.

Actually i think that the main conceit of the original grishaverse trilogy is that there Was in fact an assumption of An Amount of critical thinking and analysis skills that. not to stir up shit. are a bit rare in the circles of YA fandom and YA fandom enjoyers. ESPECIALLY regarding the darkling. Everyone is allowed to have one (1) tumblr sexyman style villain that they no holds barred hate and he is mine.
so the thing about the darkling. the Thing about the darkling is that hes absolutely a satirical and critical version of the sort of Immortal Hot Boy (antihero flavor) who is i think possibly best shown in Edward Cullen and Erik phantom of the opera. Hes powerful! hes hot! hes Deeply Fucked Up! he’s unavoidably an abuser!
ANYWAYS BOOKVERSE SPOILER WARNING since im putting this in the tag, also i don’t know how to format a read more so Long Post! sorry.
however Immortal Hot Boy trope is SO prevalent in early 2010s YA fiction that it genuinely does not occur to people to question even after you get shown a parade of his red flags. the fact that the darkling is a. of a comparable power to alina and b. seems to take her powers and autonomy seriously makes him PRIME shipping material especially if You, an enjoyer of early 2010s YA fantasy and fandom, are already used to this extremely specific parade of red flags being portrayed as hot and desireable. its an unavoidable cliche of the genre (spike from Buffy, snape, Rath Roiben Rye from Tithe, the list goes on) and he is absolutely set up as a love interest Would Be, narratively. but heres the thing:
Shadow and Bone (the books) fundamentally Are Not YA Fantasy and Romance books. theyre action/adventure tragedy books written for teenaged girls.
Alina Isnt the typical Strong Female Protagonist (Look At How Well We In The Writing Room Do Female Representation flavor) literally On Purpose. Alina does, in fact, just want to Go Home. however, she Is in fact a feminist character as honestly? the deciding metric for whether a book Respects Women is whether their characters are treated with respect and consideration (in the writing. books that portray misogyny do not become unfeminist by doing so) and Alina’s character (and zoya, genya, and tamar) is. Alina’s only stated goals from the beginning of the series is that she wants a. to go home and start an orphanage, b. to hang out with her best friend, and c. maybe be romantically involved with her best friend if he is so inclined. thats it. no this is not particularly GirlbossTM of her but GirlbossTM characters are not the only type of valid female character okay. but then it turns out that alina has actually God Level Powers, which, and I cannot be more clear here, she does not want.
It is therefore narratively important that alina has her choice of love interests throughout the series. in S&B, alina’s crush on mal appears unrequited and inopportune, something that has the power to ruin her current relationship with mal and not do much else. in contrast, the darkling is mysterious, attractive, and, most importantly, clearly interested in her, even if his interest mainly manifests in terms of interest in her power. he presents himself to her as the only one in the world who can understand her (which. red flag.) but in doing so, he assumes that her entire previous identity will be subsumed by being the sun summoner, which it never is. throughout the series, alina remains consistently alina. There is, throughout his expressions of interest, never any doubt that he would act exactly the same to another girl with the same power set, as he is, ultimately, not attracted to alina, but to the sun summoner. Even if this was his only problem, that’s still Not Ideal, since that’s absolutely objectification. this is not immediately evident on a cursory or first reading, both due to imperfect writing and the use of a non-omniscient and therefore semi-unreliable narrator.
Then he stops being a viable love interest as it is revealed that in fact he has a history of manipulating girls and young women under his power. The most egregrious example of this is Genya, who murders the king on what is revealed to be the darkling’s orders, and then reveals that the king has been raping her. Genya is the most beautiful girl in ravka, which can be and often is construed as a sort of power, but is one that she has no choice in. the Darkling’s manipulation of genya here cannot be overlooked either, since he does use her as a tool in his warmongering and then a scapegoat. there are Absolutely parrallels to be drawn here to alina’s situation: the darkling takes advantage of a young woman’s quest for power (or not even that— arguably, just the wish to get out of a bad situation) and then uses this to take her power from her. The darkling may not have had sexual or romantic intent towards genya, but this act Was an expression of his power and control. Genya is, by committing this act, forced to remain with the darkling, as this act, no matter how justified it was, is still treasonous. Alina, similarly, is manipulated into a quest for power that ends with  power taken from her by the darkling, where he literally collars her with the antlers, which then allow him to control her powers without her consent, as if she were nothing more than an instrument. symbolically this is extremely significant, but this is a tumblr post and not a thesis. the important part:
The Darkling is not interested in Alina as a person, but in the power alina has and how it can be used to benefit him. even though the sun summoner may be most powerful with the darkling, Alina is ultimately a tool to him, and has no power in their interactions.
that’s horrifying! the darkling is unarguably a villain for that! not to mention that he knew what was happening to genya (and certainly dozens of other girls), had the power to stop it, and chose not to! and yet that is, when taken to its end, the ultimate conclusion of the Immortal Hot Boy With Magic Powers: controlling, manipulative, and genuinely? fucked up. the darkling IS meant to portray this as Actively Fucked Up, but a lack of narrative control and audience expectations did. well.
For the sake of it, though, i might as well get into the rest of alina’s love interests, because the implications and power balance in all of those relationships are fascinating to consider and write about.
second: nikolai, the spare royal, secret bastard, and Actual privateer. He’s not even a consideration until the second book, but, like the darkling, he also offers Alina power in exchange for the use of her own, but he, at least, is honest that his offer is not really romantically inclined, and explains it all for her: her power as the sun summoner will legitimize his reign (as. he is also the Only remaining legitimized member of the royal family). Nikolai’s honesty does put him over the darkling in terms of Alina’s romantic prospects, but he still wants the sun summoner, and not alina. nikolai represents a cause, not a romantic interest, and while their interests align for the duration of the war, alina Does Not Want political power, a life at court, or any of the things that a more permanent relationship with nikolai will unavoidably require. Alina’s goals and nikolai’s are fundamentally different, since alina is a commendably consistent character, who still just wants to run a countryside orphanage with mal.
finally there’s mal. He is Absolutely Nothing compared to A Thousand Year Old Wizard God and The Next King. But he wants Alina. He doesnt care if she has powers, and remains the Only one of her love interests who is Actually Interested in who she is, instead of what she can do for him. in any other book, the main girl character giving everything up to date a mediocre dude and run an orphanage is not, particularly, great. However, this Isn’t any other book: by dating her bestie and running away to an orphanage in the countryside Alina is fulfilling her Only Stated Goal. The sun summoner’s powers have only even been used to control her and arguably when her powers were strongest she had the least narrative agency as she was imprisoned and used as the figurehead of a cult. Alina was a living martyr even Before she faked her death. she Does Not Win and even symbolically loses by becoming powerful enough to fight the darkling: so she Doesn’t.
Alina’s agency comes from her choice, and not her powers, and her powers are intrinsically not her choice, which is why the final battle cannot be fought by her. if alina really Is the Only One powerful enough to fight the darkling, then the darkling is proven right, and the entire war does Not matter: if Only Alina can fight, then the war was over in book one, because the stag’s antlers mean that the darkling can control alina’s powers. and that’s nihilistic and depressing.
Even alina thinks that this is true, though: she thinks that everything comes down to an ancient and extended scavenger hunt, and she thinks she has no choices. yes, completing morozova’s trinity renders her Physically unable to fight, but mentally and symbolically she was unable to fight either chapters or books previous to the final battle. ironically, she regains the ability to choose after losing her powers, since her agency is not related to her power level, but to her choices.
It doesn’t matter what alina chooses to do, but it Does matter that she has the power of choice. Alina is, in this way, a better-written character than any of the sort of GirlbossTM Strong Female Character types that were really Very much her contemporaries.
and, as an addendum: no, it’s not particularly great writing. you can sort of see the loose strings, even if they’re not particularly important loose strings, but you can see the writing get Much better as you read, and, like, the themes Are more complicated than the writing can support. this is a subversion propped up by the bones of the narrative it subverts, and they’re not particularly strong bones. yes a great deal of it is expectations projected onto a narrative and a lack of critical analysis. however, the narrative actively welcomes projected expectations and only reveals that they’re being subverted twenty pages later. so.

seventeen again. please?
Jack is trying to be a good dad and help both of his ghostly kids. Except, it backfires in typical Jack Fenton fashion, and now he's getting lectured by his twelve-year-old son.
After Jack's invention messes up Danny's life yet again, he's going to have to spend the week at school as a prepubescent teenager again, all while hoping no one notices and asks questions since this is one situation he definitely doesn't know how to lie his way out of.
Takes place in the the world is having more fun than me (tonight) universe.
Part twelve of the can't have shit in amity park, not even a slightly normal halfterlife series.
“What about school?”
“Dad says I still have to go.” A classic Dumpty Humpty shirt fell over Danny’s properly scrawny chest. He scowled down at it. He did not miss this physique.
“Dude, what?!” Tucker laughed at the absurdity.
“I’m serious!” Danny whined as he simply stepped out of his shoes, socks, and jeans. His friends, the best friends that they were, turned away without a word so Danny could drop the now-massive boxers and grab one of the smaller pairs they’d picked up on their way over. “He thinks my Haunt will protect me from everyone noticing like always.”
Sam scoffed and rolled her eyes at the wall she was facing. “Dude, you’re like twelve. Everyone is gonna notice. You’re not a scrawny kid anymore, you’re so fucking easy to pick out of a crowd. Someone’s gonna notice you’re missing, and then when they see you like that with us, they’re gonna put two and two together.”
“You’re giving the students of Casper High way too much credit, Sam,” Tucker argued. They heard the sound of a zipper being tugged up and turned back to face their friend. The faded gray jeans were a good look on him.
Twelve-year-old Danny flopped back onto his bed with a groan. “I have no idea what they’re gonna do. Wes is gonna have a conniption though.”
“So is Valerie.”
“What am I gonna do about patrols?!” He scrubbed his hands over his face with another extended groan. “I can’t let the others see me like this! I’m tiny!” He threw his arms up before letting them collapse back to the bed stretched out beside him.
“Have you tried going ghost since this happened?” Sam asked, nudging his foot from her position on the bean bag. “What does baby Phantom look like?”
“You know what baby Phantom looks like,” Danny grumbled. “You were there when I got fried.”
“Yeah, but you’re more baby now than you were at fourteen!” She nudged him again more insistently. “Come on, let’s see what happens when you go ghost. You said your ectoplasm feels too big for you right now? I wanna know what that means.”
Tucker whipped out his PDA. “Me too, so chop chop, ghost boy!”
Danny pushed himself up on his hands to glare at his friends. He wasn’t sure how impressive it was with all the baby fat on his face, but an attempt was made, and that’s what matters.
“Fine,” he muttered. He stood up and shook his limbs out. With a sharp exhale, he said, “I’m goin’ ghost!”

The A List
I’ve been rewatching the A list and Oh My God.
I remember why I loved it so much. The dynamics and plot is what made me so invested. From the title and cover, you would have no idea what this show would be about. It’s a mystery from the start.
I do believe this is one of Netflix is a last shows targeted at the age group between 10 to about 15 where they’re too young to watch things like Euphoria and 13 Reasons Why but they don’t wanna watch Dora. And let’s be real, shows towards that age group get canceled quick, look at Julie and the phantoms for instance. Be honest, kids shows that aren’t like blow up bubble guppies and Sesame Street don’t really get as much attention. It’s like there’s no market for them at all.
Keep in mind I could be wrong. I don’t know every show that it’s on Netflix catalog but I do know what gets pushed and it’s not the family friendly shows.
But getting back to the A-list, the show itself has an amazing plot filled with mystery turns and a little bit of drama. But paired with that it’s also immensely diverse. I don’t believe the show is part of the representation matters collection that Netflix has, but it should be it even found a way to portray a healthy LGBTQ plus relationship without that being those characters main personality traits and still allowing for them to be a part of the plot outside of their sexuality. That is exactly how it should be because being gay is not a personality trait rather than a part of your identity but that’s neither here nor there. Not only that, but it does have characters of many races and ethnicities and I don’t think that that should be ignored.
The show also even made me finally have a main character that I dislike. I typically find a little bit to like an every main character but I don’t know something about Mia. She’s not exactly my favorite person in the world but she’s workable. I like the fact that you can see clear difference in her character development from the first season to the second season and unfortunately, there are only two seasons, 10 episodes each in the series. But in similarity to Mia, Amber is also equally unlikable. I don’t like the villain or the hero and that is very different for me. Usually I can find at least a little bit to like in a character and for those two characters I can find some moments where they are likable at least in the first season but overall they both suck. And make it even better. They both going out to the same boy, who is completely clueless, and it gets on my nerves BAD. But as for the background characters, I like them; They make the show very much worthwhile. I am not even talking about the gay ones.
I’m not gonna fully get into the characters in this review because I would like to do character reviews at some point in my busy schedule but let’s mostly talk about how I think shows like the A-list should get more attention from Netflix and Netflix’s viewers. I’m very disappointed they decided to cancel the showing a cliffhanger, and I do think that the show had a lot of potential artistically. Similar to The Greenhouse Academy, it does have painfully basic dialogue and I feel like they could have put a little bit more work into that and not continuously try to appeal to teenagers.
Besides that fact, it does have a good plot overall, I do believe that if the show was done by a company like HBO, they probably would’ve upped the antics a little bit and maybe it would’ve been less of a kid show but the dialogue would be way less painful to watch and I wouldn’t feel like I have to endure the bad parts.
With that said the show is what Disney wish they can put out. No hate to any of Disney shows. I just think that they think their viewers are idiots and you can see it in the dialogue that they put clearly little to no work into. Other than the dialogue, there is also things like the visuals and the outfit choices that I do like
They don’t dress their characters like adults they dress like teenagers. I can see any one of my friends wearing any of these outfit. They’re not something I would make fun of like in shake it up or some thing that would make me audibly gasped like in euphoria, but rather they seem like outfits that people from the ages of 13 to even 18 would wear.
Also, they are set in a seemingly realistic situation that a teenager could find themselves in. It’s just summer camp. The show was like Bunk’d on steroids. I feel like a lot of kids, especially in the US have had the experience of being sent camping at a summer camp. I mean not me, but a lot of kids have. The most I’ve been sent to our regular camps that are inside of schools but not camping but anyway, I digress.
The shots in the show are taken as if there’s someone watching them. It’s kind of like office style but less obvious. Within the shot, you can see leaves next to the camera or in the frame or they will take quick notice to food around and stuff like that I just appreciate the detailing of the camera work.
With that said…can we pay attention to the set?? The set itself has amazing earthy tones, as if it was an actual summer camp. I also like the fallen trees and the stumps that you can see around it and inside of the cabins they really put in detail, as if there were a group of teenage girls living in it. With that I also think that the make up that they put on the cast is realistic for teenage girls, because as someone who has gone out and been in nature environment, it didn’t stop me from putting on a little bit of eyeliner.
Overall, I would give the show a solid eight out of 10 because dialogue as you know is worth a lot for me and that’s the only thing that I see it missing mostly the only plot hole is that an occurrence because the show we are unfinished so I can’t even add that into the contrast of the entire show.

(Paradoxical reaper / y. Mike torture / body horror stuff below)
Okay so that one scene in the Collector?? Where creepy mask guy has the protag captured, and he makes a slit in protag's side, before taking a jar of these huge cockroaches (i think?) and he puts them right up to the wound in protag's side and aggravates them?? That was such an AWESOME scene and I'm honestly disappointed that the Collector got interrupted bc that shit would be horrific to watch in the BEST way possible
Okay so now I'm thinking about y. Mike making some typical teenage boy comment about the reaper's apperance, calling him maggot or lice or rat infected or whatever. And reaper Mike takes his sadistic revenge on this comment by doing the exact same thing the Collector did in the movie. Make a gaping wound in y. Mike's side, get a container of insects or rats or whatever, press the opening against the wound. Young Mike feeling every last one crawl inside him, feeling them biting and scratching against his muscle and organs, maybe you could even see them crawling under his skin like the Mummy before some of them bite their way through his skin.
And then it'd be funny if, in the next loop, Evan or Liz brought a bug/mouse in from the garden because they thought it was really cool and wanted to show their big brother, and Mike just. Ah. Let's say he doesn't react very well lmao.
(Also wanted to say sorry that I made you feel like you had to apologize for not warning me about the bugs in that movie. I genuinely don't need a warning for that kind of thing & was just making a joke; I wasn't hurt or badly affected by it at all. However, i have been relentlessly attacked by spiders and spider webs over the last few days and i totally blame you for it /j )
Yeeeeessssssssssssssss I love that bit. Oh, imagine if young Mike still feels like they're crawling around under his skin even when time resets and he can't. Stop. Itching! He struggles to resist the urge to scratch, but the phantom feeling of bugs crawling under his skin. He scratches his arms under the dining table, trying to hide it from his family, claws at his shoulders and neck, and tears into his side where that horrible squirmy feeling is worst. He keeps going long after his skin has turned red and shiny from the friction burns, until he's rubbed right through the layers of skin and draws blood. But that horrible itching won't go away.
Thought; let's say Mike actually does manage to hold off scratching himself too much... until Evan and Elizabeth show him their little critter. They're pretty scared when he first freaks out at the sight of it, but are downright horrified later when they find Mike with blood pouring down his arms, fingers still working at the wounds.
Also, you don't have anything to apologize for. Even though it wasn't a big deal to you, I still feel bad I didn't think to give you a heads up. Still, I'm glad you weren't badly affected and that you enjoyed the movie!

*places this ask in your hands* karma its time for you to talk about your original characters :)
:0 COOPER!!
Aight, you left this nice and vauge, so Im gonna go over the basics (which might still get long we'll see)
Firstly, Stella: She's my OG blorbo. We love a vampire babe. She died when she was 17, she had leukemia. Her brother couldn't stand the thought of her dying, so he broke her out of the hospital and took her to a coven of vampires. Her transformation was violent and she doesn't remember any of it. She woke up in an alley covered in blood with no memory, and her family has no idea what happened to her. She does get horrible dreams of the night her brother took her from the hospital, and they always end with her waking up from intense phantom pain. So fun so edgy. She's a loner, she's mean to everyone because she wants to stay isolated, but she's secretly a softy. So when she sees a teenager hudled in the rain on the street late at night, she takes him in.
Enter Elliot: He's my sweet baby boy, and I love to make him cry. He can see ghosts, like literally. Almost ghost whisperer sytle, but ghosts rarely interact with him. He saw his first ghost at his sister's funeral, at which point he was distracted and really couldn't care. Then the next year his dad died, and he ran away, because he's convinced he's cursed. He jumped on a bus, hoping to runaway to Hollywood, but he ended up in Seattle with no money, following a random stranger home. Then he slept on her couch for so many nights he ended up becoming roomates with a vampire. Stella would never admit it, but she has a huge soft spot for him, and Elliot somehow sees past her cold facade. They are comfy cozy found family, and I'm so normal about it I promise.
There's also Zack: Elliot's childhood best friend and love interest. He's known Elliot since they were 5, and had a crush on him since they were in middle school. He loves puzzles, games, and he runs a FNAF theory blog. So when his best friend up and dissapeared without a word, his response of course was to track him down clear on the other side of the country. He was not prepared however, to find out that Elliot has secret ghost powers, is living with a vampire, and that magic is real.
Also the twins: Forest and Sky. They're human (mostly), but their mother owns a store for magic clientel. The front is your typical corner store, the back is like if a 7-eleven got freaky with every YA fantasy novel ever. They're both practicing magicians, perfectly capable of spells and potions. Sky is fun and energetic. She's outgoing and loves to get into mischief. When she was 7, she made a deal with a loteral demon, and now her right eye can literally see into the future. Forest is much more shy and toned down, prefering to follow rules and avoid attention from others. He went fully deaf at a young age, and prefers to speak using ASL, so he's literally more soft spoken than his sister. He does however have a hidden sassy streak and can be just as mischievous as Sky when he wants to.
I could keep going, but Ill keep the others short. I have Oliver, who's Stella’s older brother. After taking her to the vampires and losing her anyways, he became a vampire hunter under the assumption she died. Naomi, a vampire who works at the shop with Sky and Forest. She's a fruit bat, so instead of drinking blood she eats a metric fuckton of fruit. And lastly Mariana. She's an ancient forest nymph who owns a flowershop. She absolutely HATES Stella, and by the wonders of fate, she offers Zack a job and her extra room when he shows up looking for Elliot. That's right, I've got not one, but TWO boys who unknowingly stumble into being roommates with supernatural beings!
Yes this is the basics, yes I can go more in depth on any of them, Cooper you asked for this and I love you for it.
Some fun facts because this is my post and I wanna:
Elliot has a sweet tooth and loves carrot cake and obscenely sugary starbucks drinks
Zack is trans, and Elliot helped him pick out his name.
Sky and Forest are homeschooled and they want to form a band when they're older. (Sky on vocals and bass, Forest plays drums)
Stella adores octopi and wanted to be a marine biologist when she was alive.
Mari lived in Spain for the first hundred years of her life, she and Zack often speak spanish with eachother.
Naomi retained most of her memory after becoming a vampire, unlike Stella, however her turning is very fuzzy. All she remembers is being bitten by a woman with long white hair, which saved her from a stab wound after being mugged. She's madly in love with this woman and wants to find her so badly.
Forest has a huge crush on Elliot. Zack also has a huge crush on Elliot. Elliot is a sweet boy and everyone has a huge crush on him. Naturally Elliot is oblivious af and would combust if he noticed.

RULES:  List five tropes applicable to your character, then tag others to do the same. (Tropes Wiki)  REPOST! DO NOT REBLOG.  Oh my gosh, this one was so fun to do! I hope others will agree or at least see why I chose the tropes that I did - if you have any tropes that fit Ryuji, feel free to comment them.
Tumblr media
Chivalrous Pervert
This is one that I think I feel the need to highlight since for whatever reason, people really like to demonize this part of Ryuji and use it as an excuse as to why he’s actually horrible or no better than characters like Kamoshida.  While I think it’s undeniably true that there are several points in the game where Ryuji shows attraction to the girls and has his moments of admiring them, what I think is also shown during that game that he shows nothing but respect for them and their boundaries - he never tries to make any actual advances on them, is quick to call out others for making the girls uncomfortable and even with Yusuke’s introductory scene - when Ann worries about a guy potentially following her or being a creep, he doesn’t laugh at her or minimize it, he follows her and when Yusuke gets too close, he steps in front of her, along with Joker.  Also, to note is that at the beach, you can make a joke about potentially stealing swimsuits belonging to girls there - Ryuji never once entertains it or goes along with it and it’s one of the few instances where he non-jokingly can potentially call you out for something.  In short, yeah he’s a teenage boy - he likes to admire and he likes to look, but he would never go as far as actually creeping on anyone or making them uncomfortable.
Hidden Depths
There’s definitely a lot more to him than initially meets the eye and I think part of his character is subverting the typical ‘delinquent’ trope - because he really isn’t a delinquent or a bad kid - he’s someone who had something horrible done to him and was treated like a pariah and is acting out and rebelling in whatever way he can.  Even in comparison to Persona 4′s ‘delinquent’, Kanji, he feels extremely mild.  Also, he’s the sort of character who has a pretty unexpectedly deep knowledge about fitness and sports - most people are quick to just write him off as dumb, but he is knowledgeable - about things that he cares about and feels passionately for.
I Just Want to Be Special
I’ve touched it on a few times that while I do believe that first and foremost, he joined the Phantom Thieves to help others, there’s definitely an element of wanting to be the hero too - to be able to soak up the praise and the attention - yeah of course, it affects his ego and goes to his head - for a time, he has the support of the entire internet behind him and is told by everyone around him that he’s a hero, what he’s doing is right and that people support him.  I think that to someone who never really had anyone to step in for him or to really protect him - as someone who had to really be his own hero, of course the idea of becoming this huge hero and getting all of this attention would really be a big driving force for him.  There is some part of him that’s selfish and thinks about the money, about the girls, about the attention he’d get if people knew it was him.  Getting over this mindset is part of his character arc.
Momma's Boy
Without a doubt - he cares a lot about helping out his Ma and it’s clear that she means the world to him - I do think that having to have her come in to his school and listen to all of the things that he’s done and how badly he’s messed up - and then having to listen to her apologize to him for not being a better mother to him would have absolutely broken him.  I fully believe he’s someone who truly loves his Ma and wants to make her proud because at the start, she was all that he had and was the one person who truly believed in him, from start to finish.  He thinks the world of her.
No Indoor Voice
Absolutely one of his biggest shortcomings (even if I hate how it’s been used as an excuse for people to godmod) but undoubtedly, Ryuji’s the type of person who is just loud about everything - I know people like that, as they get more excited, their voice raises and they start speaking louder - or they’re the kind of person who just sounds loud all the time.  Those people, in my experience, are the types of people full of energy and passion - people who just love life and every minute of living it and I really do think that sums him up to a tee.  His big mouth undoubtedly gets him in trouble because he doesn’t really think to try and lower his voice or be a little bit more subtle, but it’s just part of who he is.

Tagging: Honestly who ever wants to give this a shot - it was pretty fun getting to pick which tropes I wanted to highlight and I’m excited to see what tropes you guys will spotlight for your muses too.

Hello! I hail from the distant land of AO3 and I love your fics :) I don't really care what medium this is in (random headcanons, drabble, full fic), but I'd love to see your take on a Qui-Gon lives AU (in your padawan brothers AU if possible) where Obi-Wan sees how sweetly his master treats little Anakin post phantom menace (and subsequently how Obi's been expected to grow up) and worries that he's been thrown aside. All my love for some comforting Qui-Gon hugs at the end :)

BELOVED ANON, WELCOME
thank you for visiting me here from the distant far land of ao3! and thank you for saying you enjoy my fics 🥺
i LOVE obi-wan having some self-worth struggles, especially with the whirlwind of changes post-The Phantom Menace (qui-gon lives version)! My Padawan You’ll Always Be kind of touches on this (and on Obi-Wan’s struggle with jealousy) and the hand spanking he gets is his reaffirmation that he’s still very much loved and cared for. I don’t think that was his last reaffirmation spanking from qui-gon 👀
qui-gon’s very sweet with both of the boys but there’s 100% some growing pains as everyone figures out how to navigate their new dynamic. i imagine obi-wan has lots of “master would have never let me get away with that kind of behavior 🙄” moments, conveniently not retrospecting on just how much he’d gotten away with himself as a brand new padawan before he really settled in to it. typical oldest sibling/youngest sibling squabbles of obi-wan going “you got it easy; if I’d done that at your age…” meanwhile Anakin’s like “easy?!?! Master spanked me! with his hand! it hurt!!”
but in reality qui-gon’s very fair on both of them; the thing to remember is that anakin is starting his padawanship much earlier than obi-wan did his, so there’s going to be some differences there in how qui-gon treats a child padawan vs how he treated a teenage padawan. also with ani and obi’s age gap and differences in personality, it can seem very unbalanced because ani will gladly soak up cuddles and sit on qui-gon’s lap at any given time for hugs and snuggles, but obi-wan is “Too Old For All That Master 😤 but yes please hug me 🥺”
this reminded me that I have an idea I’ll have to get to writing that on obi-wan’s first solo mission as a knight, he was a little more than reckless because hey, no one was there to watch him and stop him, right? 👀 WRONG! qui-gon finds out and is Not Pleased with his former padawan treating his life so frivolously 🤨 commence smacks and ALL THE HUGS 🥰 I shall have to write this for you anon 🥰💕

Mikan glanced around the room, taking in his makeshift bed and the various knick-knacks and decor he'd put up. It definitely looked like the bedroom of a typical teenage boy. The large Phantom Thieves flag hung on the wall behind the couch she sat on piqued her interest, but she kept quiet while he let her settle in.
"Th-thank you... I... I r-really owe you one," She replied. "I'm only r-really good at m-medical things so... If y-you're ever hurt or s-sick I can h-help."

Give a Ghost a Break
by TheyWereToFarGone Danny Fenton was your typical 16-year-old boy. Well, typical in the sense that he was a half-ghost who battled other ghosts to protect his small town. Aside from that, he was just your average, sleep-deprived teenager. Danny Fenton knew he was adopted, and it wasn't a well-kept secret. However, what he didn't know was that he had a twin sibling, and astonishingly, they were both the biological children of Bruce Wayne, a billionaire who ran Wayne Industries by day and moonlighted as the vigilante Batman by night. What happens when Danny discovers this hidden truth, and what unfolds when they both reveal their secret identities to each other?
