When you backread through a fun conversation you had with someone for hours an angel gets its wings
#I was talking to my brother about Norman doors and I had fun in my UX class and he was telling me about demon cores and the trolley problem#in his class. AND I remembered to take my meds today so I can feel every cell in my body. i can feel the neurons rubbing together#and yesterday I infodumped about the specialists bullseye chart to crow and how it ties with witch hat atelier#WHICH I MANAGED TOGET THEM TK READ IM SO HAPPY. I MAKE SQUEALING GUINEA PIG NOISES EVERY TIME THEY TELL ME WHAT THEYVE READ SO FAR. AHH#i might not even be scratching the surface with witch hat there are so many themes i could not possibly fathom or go over my heasd#and thats what makes it so exciting there are so many spaces in between that you can fill with your thoughts and i. i#waves my hands around manically#for anyone interested in my insane ramblings. the bullseye chart is from are we all scientific experts now by harry collins#in my own words its basically saying everything we know about anything is a game of broken telephone#and it discusses how information gets lost in translation between experts and laymen including things that arent in control#one of the main points was how things that happen between experts are complicated including debates and findings#that you can only really understand thru research and experience in that field and cant be smoothly shared without it being reworded#and risking some of those key points. or even concepts that are hard to understand that cant be shared at all#like if you tried to tell me about how DNA works using words scientists are familiar with but i am NOT- i risk missing concepts that i need#to understand to know how it works on the level you understand. or i risk having it reworded and understanding it but not on that level#AND IT DOES TIE TO WITCH HAT THE WITCH AND NORMAL FOLK COMMUNITIES I PROMISE. ITS SO INTERESTING#anyway i spent hours reading back thru that conversation and i might as well admit it goes for almost every fun conversation i have#and it might be the 20mg of adderall in my body but i am in such a state of peace and love i have to verbalize it. ahh#yapping

What are Fibroblast Cells?
he pig genome is three times closer to our genome that that of mice. Take the example of cystic fibrosis, the introduction of the mutation responsible for the disease in mice has not shown the exact course of the disease however, recent reports show the successful recapitulation of the disease in pig models. As there is a similarity between the cardiovascular system, the gastrointestinal tract, and the pancreas between pigs and humans, research on diseases and toxicology can be carried out on these models  with Swine Fibroblast Cells (Walters et al, 2013).

"Plants might not be part of my research but I'd be very interested in talking to Miss Foxglove if we ever crossed paths. I've heard one or two things about her powers and the things she can do, it's quite fascinating." Kirk hums thoughtfully. Humans with powers. It wasn't unheard here in Gotham, though he dared imagine Foxglove was likely far more approachable and open to discussion than the likes of Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze.
Tumblr media
Strange. Man-Bat hissed lightly, not out of anger or dislike but wariness at the unusual scent he'd picked up. It was more than human, Foxglove's trail enriched with a deep earthiness and sense of life unlike anything else to be found in this labyrinth of neon lights and stone. Sterile the city was, bereft of the sights and smells calling to his blood but this scent brought back distant memories, harkening back to places that was yet was not quite home.

Food and the Immune System
By Arjuwan Lakkdawala
Ink in the Internet
If you are a traveller you should be concerned with diseases that are prevalent in the country you are travelling to, or at least where you live.
What I'm attempting to demonstrate in my series of articles about microorganisms, is the thin line we tread between our immunity and the ever evolving microorganisms that after Covid-19, proved how unprepared we are.
The idea is to learn about this possible disaster in the making so we can prevent it or at least be better prepared.
Climate and geology are factors which could contribute to particular viruses or bacteria thriving in certain locations. Animals and insects can be disease vectors. And travellers can be carriers of infectious diseases. What this means is that germs can travel the world. In this scenerio people more than animals can contribute to disease spread, and especially those who are asymptomatic or who are in the incubation stage before symptoms appear.
Because people don't undergo health screening like animals when travelling.
However, protection from diseases isn't only about wearing masks or hand sanitation. It has a lot to do with food consumption.
Many people don't have proper awareness about unhealthy ingredients in foods, or the ways in which food contamination can happen.
What we consume can effect the health of our immune system, which in turn effects how susceptible we become to infections or autoimmune diseases.
Generally bacteria can live in colder or hotter temperatures than humans.
But there are bacteria that can survive in extremely hot or cold temperatures, or highly acidic or salty conditions.
I think most people are not aware about how resistant bacteria can be. Or that viruses do not die but can only be destroyed.
One of the most tenacious forms of bacteria surving under extreme stress or heat is bacteria that can produce endospores.
"Endospores are dormant alternate life forms produced by the genus Bacillus, the genus Clostridium, and a number of other genera of bacteria, including Desulfotomaculum, Sporosarcina, Sporolactobacillus, Oscillospira, and Thermoactinomyces.
Bacilus species." - Libre Texts Biology.
When those bacterium are under severe environmental attack they produce the endospore that preserves the cell's genetic material, as other parts of the bacteria perish. The endospore can survive till it gets environmental stimuli suitable for bacterial growth.
The re-entering of vegetative growth and cell division stage of the endospores is called germination.
Endospores are strongly resistant to boiling, antibiotics, many disinfectants, and low energy radiation, and do not get effected by drying.
Meat can be contaminated with endospores.
Diseases that can be caused by endospores:
"Infectious diseases such as anthrax, tetanus, gas gangrene, botulism, and pseudomembranous colitis are transmitted to humans by endospores." - Biology Libre Text.
However, do not confuse endospores with spores they are not the same. For example anthrax spores when inhaled cause severe health condition and can be fatal without immediate treatment.
Other ways in which food can get dangerously contaminated is by the chopping board. Use different boards to chop meat and vegetables/fruits. Because germs from the meat board can get transferred to fruits or vegetables that normally don't undergo cooking like meat.
When buying fruits or vegetable avoid those that have hole or punctures as germs can get into them through the openings.
Do not wash fruits or vegetables before storing in the fridge, the moisture can allow the growth of germs. Wash the fruits and vegetables before usage.
Another thing to be careful about is the water we drink. Dr. Kellog Schwab, director of the Johns Hopkins University Water Institute, says the moment we drink from a container we introduce microorganisms to that water.
"Combined with the ambient temperature in your home or office, and sunlight streaming into your windows, those microorganisms could start to multiply pretty quickly." He said.
Water stored in plastic bottles should also be kept away from the odors of chemicals. Because plastic bottles are permeable. That means certains gases can go through them.
Water intoxication is also a danger many are not aware of.
This could like be why sports bottles have narrow mouths, so water can be consumed in a controlled manner.
There have been reports of people who died after accidently drinking too much water. This happens when more water is drunk than the kidneys can expel in time. The water dilutes the electrolytes in the blood, particularly sodium, and swelling happens in the cells including the brain.
While many health or exercise websites encourage to drink "plenty of water before and after exercise" I have never read on one the warning of how easily water intoxication can happen.
The other food warning doesn't really apply to me as a Muslim because I don't eat pork.
But it deserves a mention for others in the  world who unfortunately consume this animal.
Pig meat is similar to human meat. That is why it could be highly likely to cause autoimmune diseases, especially multiple sclerosis.
And the bacteria yersinia enterocolitica, which has many similarities to the bacteria yersinia pestis, which is related to yersinia pseudotuborcolusis and causes the bubonic black, is often found in pig meat.
In fact the contamination rate is high.
What happens each time people consume pork in regard to the immune system that it has to diffentiat that the meat is not its own human cells. This repitation in time can cause the immune system to not be able to tell it apart and hence start to attack its own cells.
In many countries MS was found to be as high as their consumption of pork, and as low as their consumption of pork. This signifying a correlation between pork and MS.
Processed foods and Ultra Processed foods are another unhealthy food problem. It is becoming very difficult to avoid these foods but not impossible. Ultra Processed foods can usually be told from the ingredients where it will read many more names that aren't normally understood as foods. This would be the things used to ultra process the food item.
Presently in the world the leading cause of death is heart disease followed by cancer.
One of the many examples of foods we consume with serious health risks is foods that have trans fat.
"Trans fats in your food
Commercial baked goods, such as cakes, cookies and pies.
Shortening.
Microwave popcorn.
Frozen pizza.
Refrigerated dough, such as biscuits and rolls.
Fried foods, including french fries, doughnuts and fried chicken.
Nondairy coffee creamer.
Stick margarine." The Mayo Clinic
“Trans fat has no known benefit, and huge health risks that incur huge costs for health systems,” said WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Trans fat are highly associated with heart disease the leading cause of death worldwide.

Since pigment is a ghost/psychic type because a ghost types dna was mixed in with Scarfys
Is it possible for a Mewtwo to be created with one of another typing?
Like a psychic/fire Type Mewtwo?
Pig's circumstances were very specific since she had a foot in the grave that set the ghost typing off too. I'm not sure what circumstances could make a mewtwo with other duel types

Found Family - Preview
Tumblr media
summary: In which Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent engage in a custody battle over a clone created from both their DNA, or, in which you get saved from a lab and gain two new families who would move mountains for you.
pairing: Bat Family x f! Reader, Supers x f! Reader
full fic is posted here!
a/n: hihihi :) here is a preview of something I've been working on, hopefully it'll be posted in a few days, I hope you like it!
reblogs are appreciated!!
Tumblr media
Clark sat in silence in the batcave, Conner standing to his left, his eyes wide as he stared at you, possessing some features belonging to both he and Bruce, and other features that seemed to be entirely your own.
You stared back, that same stoic nature radiating off of you that radiates off the Batman, however, he noted the defensive look in your eyes, one so similar to the one he saw in Conner when he first met him. He eyed your suit, noting the familiar “S” symbol, only it was a burgundy color, a combination of the Batman and Superman emblems, and he was utterly confused.
He looked over at Bruce, still in his bat suit, his cowl pulled off, “Bruce, what the hell is going on?”
“I had to call you here because Luthor decided to create another clone. I did the DNA test, Clark, she’s a combination of both our DNA” Bruce looked at him, Dick and Damian standing to his right. It was silent for a moment, you felt like a guinea pig, the way they all stared at you. It made you angry.
Conner was the first to speak to you, stepping forward before opening his mouth, choosing his words carefully, “What’s your name?”
You responded immediately, it felt automatic. “Experiment attempt number one. Code G6B24. I was made to be the future killer of the Batman and the Kryptonian.”

The thing about every modern Sherlock Holmes story is that it doesn’t understand that “disdain for the existing criminal justice system” is not only a fundamental part of the themes of the ACD stories it’s vital to making the whole concept work.
Holmes, when we first meet him, is on the bleeding edge of forensics for the 1880s, and this continues on into the ‘90s (the planted thumbprint in ‘The Norwood Builder’! the Sherlock Holmes test for hemoglobin in A Study in Scarlet! the use of pigs as substitute cadavers in ‘Black Peter’!) and beyond. He’s flippant about and disrespectful toward the police because he knows how criminology is a science and forensics matter and the cold hard facts are significantly more important than intimidating witnesses to extract coerced confessions, or deciding on a theory and bending the facts to make them fit, or relying on racist stereotypes to explain how people act and who’s most guilty (all things that really happen in the canon, btw). He’s smarter than everyone else because he’s doing things no one else understands yet, he’s made a study of crime and he understands how and why policing is a flawed institution.
This is why he’s not a cop, only occasionally allied with cops, and so often complaining or explaining that a moral injustice and a legal one are two different things. There are multiple antagonists (Sir George in ‘The Beryl Coronet’, Charles Augustus Milverton, Dr. Roylott, the parents in ‘A Case of Identity’) who he can’t catch in the jaws of the law but wishes he could, and at least one criminal he overlooks because he knows prison would only force them deeper into crime.
But. But.
In the 21st century, forensics are not only the backbone of police investigation they’re common knowledge to any average police procedural enjoyer or true crime fan. Holmes’s once-cutting-edge chemistry and geology are passé and ordinary now. If he’s going to be smart, he’s got to be looking ahead.
And what does that look like? It looks like knowing about the flaws in forensic analysis, like knowing about fingerprints maybe not being totally unique, like arguing over DNA evidence being misinterpreted and innocent people being sentenced for crimes they didn’t commit, like calling for the defunding and dissembling of police forces, like siding with the underclasses every. single. time.
Holmes shouldn’t be working with the cops, he should be trying to destroy them, and fighting to prove why they’re obsolete with science and quick thinking and research. Not doing that is spitting in the face of his roots and missing the whole point of what he’s working for.

A long Thanksgiving Day with grandpa
Fuuck! How long until the end of the damn day? I hate Thanksgiving, I always knew I was too good for this family, They all always laughed when I said I wanted a DNA test for Christmas because there was no way I could have the same type of blood running through my veins as those pigs that are eating as if the world was going to end tomorrow everyone laughed… except for grandfather it seemed that out of everyone in the family he was the only one who understood what I wanted to say.
Tumblr media
When he came of age I ran out of the house I couldn't bear to be with them another day We lived in a small apartment in the poor part of the city I was an only child But even so I had to share a room with Grandpa John, a bald man of more than 100 kilos, his cheeks were swollen from all the extra fat, but he hid his double chin with that mustache and that almost white beard over the years, that old man lived like a parasite of our family since I was born, maybe if he moved his ass and got a job my parents would have bought me better clothes or the latest iPhone, the only time he would move his ass off the couch was at Christmas to be mall Santa.
My room The smell of my room was disgusting in a mixture of the old man's scent and my sweaty gym clothes, But what made him the worst roommate in the world was his pajamas his old yellow underpants that were once white On top of that he wouldn't let me sleep because of his grotesque snores that could only be heard in my room And my parents will be a happy couple, My mother was a housewife and used to cook the greasiest and most delicious meals in the whole neighborhood and my father was a boring accountant addict to the smell of the cigarette just like the grandfather.
I was the complete opposite of my family, I was much taller, much more handsome, and of course athletic. I would do anything to get out of my house and get away from my obese family, even joining a gym when I was 12 years old to spend 3 hours a day exercising Over time I began to notice results in my appearance Over the years I became a Fitness influencer, I got a couple of tattoos, bought a red sports car, and got the hell out of my house the first chance I got.
For some years I was living my life as far away from my family as possible, I stopped calling home even when my mother did not stop calling me for a single day, I only returned home for a month for these dates, the rest of the year I used to have hot tub parties with gorgeous supermodels, but now…I'm stuck here again, only this time my chains aren't my age…well sort of.
I was sick of this I was sick of pretending everything is normal But I had to get on with this if I wanted my body back, it hasn't even been 24 hours since I woke up this morning to my grandpa's obese old body next to my bed I thought I was dreaming when the first thing I saw when I looked down was a substantial misshapen hairy belly instead of a huge morning boner between my legs, everything in the distance was blurry, but I could clearly see my 2 huge tits full of fat.
Furthermore, I panicked and with my fat and old hands, I sat on the bed and looked around for an explanation of why I was now in my grandfather's body of 80 years and 160 kilos, with my calloused hands I caressed my hairy belly trying to calm down. Feeling like screaming, I looked around to see if this was my room. But before I had a heart attack trying to stand up, Grandpa John walked into the room in my body.
He put my glasses on and for the first time I saw that face from a more humble perspective, We were silent for a couple of minutes, and we both looked at each other from top to bottom, His look was intimidating, and his body was incredibly hot, years in the gym they were in that body, I built that body since I was a chubby teenager and now… I felt uncomfortable around it.
I used to have all of that, perfect curls, those huge, arrogantly flaunting biceps that I dyed in ink on a night out with my friends, he was just too perfect, handsome, and young... or maybe now my self-esteem was in the ground now that I was in the grandfather's body
He was the first to speak, and surprisingly he had completely dominated my way of speaking, moving, and even how to flirt, with his strong and melodious voice he explained to me what a horrible grandson and horrible son I am to the whole family so he decided to punish me, Now I'll have to live like a fucking old man until next year!
Tumblr media
-Grand-... Jackson, Mama is calling you, it's time for dinner- I still had to get used to my new harsh voice and having to walk carrying Grandpa's huge belly.
-Tell him I'm coming... I hope there's something I can eat, don't worry Jackson I'm not going to ruin your body eating all that garbage that you should love now, you have something very good here, but surely you're hungry right? old man- He never stopped smiling while we talked, showing those white teeth that one of my sponsors had paid for.
He was right, I was hungry, the smell of Thanksgiving dinner had been driving me crazy since morning, and I'd had to content myself with a big packet of chips and a couple of cans of beer while watching football with my Father…maybe if I am part of this family, but I would have more than a month to find out.

SLUT!
chapter six: if a man talks shit then I owe him nothing
series masterlist
Tumblr media
You spent the weekend holed up in your dorm room and avoided going outside at all costs. Stories and rumors from the party made their way around campus, making your reputation was worse than ever before. You skipped class on Monday and thought about skipping class on Tuesday as well but you didn’t want your grades to suffer because of some stupid jocks and their hateful words.
As you walked to your chemistry class that Tuesday, you tripped over someone’s foot in the hallway and went down. You landed on the floor and looked up to see Harry smirking at you.
“Ops. Sorry. Didn’t you see there.” He snickered. You got up and dusted yourself off before trying to open the door to your classroom. That’s when you noticed the sign on the door that said class was delayed a a few minutes due to a test being taken in that room. Harry’s next door class was also delayed for a test, explaining his presence in the hallway. Gwen and a couple other girls on your soccer team who were in Harry’s class were waiting as well, adding to the long list of people you did not want to be around.
And just when things couldn’t get any worse, Peter walked up to the classroom door. You watched him look the sign and accidentally made eye contact with him once had read it. You both quickly looked away and you turned around all together to avoid looking at him. A few more boys in Harry’s class walked up and smirked when they saw you.
“Hey Y/n, when you go in for STD testing, do they give you a little punch card since you go there so often?” One of the boys asked you, making everyone else in the hallway laugh at your expense.
“Shit, I hope so. She’s probably their number one customer.” Another boy added.
“I doubt she gets tested. When you sleep with as many guys as she has, you build up immunity to STDs. There’s probably diseases brewing in her that science hasn’t even discovered yet.” Harry laughed. You ignored them, but Gwen and your teammates looked at Harry with disproval.
“Hey guys, what’s the difference between Y/n’s mouth and the boys locker room?” One of the guys asked.
“What?” Harry asked, already laughing.
“They’re both covered in the DNA of the football team, but at least the locker room closes after 6 pm. Y/n stays wide open all night. Isn’t that right?” A guy asked you and slung his arm around you. You pushed him off of you and he stumbled back into the wall. You then looked at Peter, who had been silently listening to what had been going down.
“Are you seriously not going to say anything?” You asked him. Peter stared at you and felt speechless. He knew he should stand up for you, but he was still hurt over the events at the party.
“Of course not. You’re unbelievable.” You laughed dryly and shook your head at him.
“Aw. What happened, Peter? Did you catch her with one of the basketball boys?” One of the guys asked with fake sympathy.
“No.” Peter scoffed and you thought he might actually stick up for you.
“He was on the hockey team.” Peter added, not even knowing why he did it. Everyone laughed and Peter once again had the approval of the guys he despised. He hated the way he was behaving but couldn’t stop.
“You’re just like Brad, you know that?” You said to Peter as you started to walk away from the classroom.
“Where are you going?” Peter asked you, but you didn’t answer.
“To sleep her way into a new school, I bet.” Harry mumbled.
“Oh shut up, Harry.” Gwen groaned. Harry looked at her in surprise as his friends murmured in amusement.
“Excuse me?” Harry asked her.
“If you’re going to disrespect another women so easily right in front of me, what’s stopping you from doing the same to me?” Gwen asked and folded her arms.
“Uh, what? Are you guys BFFs all the sudden? You make fun of her too. We all do.” Harry pointed out.
“I called her a slut a few times behind her back but you guys are just pigs. You never let up. You all recycle the same stupid jokes that no one even finds funny anymore. And don’t think I haven’t heard about what happened at the party. You guys have taken this way too far.”
“Yeah. And how can you claim she’s full of diseases when you made it public knowledge that you slept with her? Doesn’t that make you full of diseases too?” One of the girls on your team asked.
“No. Cause I never actually slept with her.” Harry scoffed. “None of us have. It’s just a joke.”
“Wait, what do you mean never even slept with her?” Gwen asked. “You told me she tried to hook up with you an hour after we broke up.”
“Yeah, that’s the joke. We all say shit like that. That’s what makes it funny.” Harry tried to explain but he was having a hard time being convincing. The girls were looking at each other and they came to a stark realization: what the boys did to you could have and could still be done to any of them. And that they had realized that they’d been tricked into doing some of the dirty work for Harry and the other guys, they were angry.
Meanwhile, Harry was uncharacteristically smart enough to realize that the girls had turned on him. He looked around at their disgusted faces and gulped.
“Woah.” Harry laughed nervously. “The females are angry. Chill out. It’s just a joke.”
“Well I haven’t passed the ball to her in months because of your little “joke”. We could’ve been a team this whole time but you made us think we couldn’t trust her.” Gwen said angrily.
“So?” Harry scoffed. “It’s just a stupid soccer game? And she’s just a stupid-“
“Don’t.” Gwen cut him off. Harry scoffed and was about to defend himself, but she wasn’t done.
“I don’t want a boyfriend who hates women, Harry. I put up with this for way too long. I should’ve never believed you over her. None of us should have. I can’t take back what I did to her but I can make sure it never happens again. So we’re over.” Gwen stated. Harry looked around at all the people staring at him and felt small for the first time in his life. It was the way he always made you feel, but he didn’t know that until now.
“Well thanks a lot, Gwen. Now I don’t want to go to Intro to Modern Western Art.” Harry grumbled and left the hallway with his friends following after him. Peter smiled at Gwen standing up for you but it didn’t last long.
“What are you smiling at?” She asked him.
“Me?” Peter asked and pointed to herself.
“You were her boyfriend and you didn’t defend her. You took their side.” Gwen said angrily and pointed to where the guys had just been.
“She cheated on me. Why should I defend her?” Peter asked quietly.
“Cheated on you? Wasn’t that just a stupid rumor from the party?” Gwen asked skeptically.
“No. She texted me to come get her at a party and I caught them in bed together.”
“Caught her with who?” She questioned.
“I don’t know who the guy was. He was passed out next to her in bed. You didn’t see the picture?” Peter asked her. Gwen raised an eyebrow and took out her phone. It didn’t take long for her to find the picture and when she did, she laughed dryly.
“First of all, this is the most staged photo I’ve ever seen. They’re both fully clothed and they’re not even facing each other. She literally has shoes on in this picture. And if she’s passed out, how was she texting you?” Gwen asked him. Peter opened his mouth to respond but realized he had no answers. He’d wondered the same questioned Gwen had just asked and hearing them out loud made him wonder when more. He was about to go after you when the classroom door finally opened. The professor ushered everyone in and Peter was stuck for the next hour and a half. He knew you had a game later that day and decided to go talk to you then to finally hear your side of the story.
When you walked into the girls locker room later that day, the entire team was already in there. They were all looking at you, something you were used to, but it was different this time. They looked apologetic instead of judgmental.
“Hey.” You said skeptically and put your bag down. Gwen stood up and walked towards you, making you gulp in anticipation of what she was about to do. She threw her arms around you and hugged you tightly, taking you by surprise.
“I’m sorry.” She said in your ear as the other girls walked over to you as well. They all joined in on the hug while you stood there in confused silenced. Gwen pulled away after a minute and kept her hands on your shoulders.
“I know we haven’t been the nicest to you. And you have no reason to forgive us-“
You cut her off by pulling her back into the hug. You felt your eyes well up with tears and began to cry as Gwen hugged you tighter. The girls wrapped their arms around you again and let you cry as long as you needed to.
“We’re on your team. Whatever you need. We can walk you around campus so the jocks can’t harass you anymore.” One of the girls told you.
“And we’ve been reporting the pictures online so they get taken down. It’s been working so far. You can’t find it as easily now.” Another said.
“Why are you guys being so nice to me?” You asked them as you wiped your face.
“Because we believe you.” Gwen told you.
“You do?” You smiled hopefully.
“We do.” She nodded. “And I’m sorry I didn’t believe you sooner.”
“It’s okay.” You can told them. “I’m just glad you do now.”
“Of course. We got your back from now on. We already started to try and make it up to you. You should’ve seen the way we ganged up on the guys in the hallway today.” One of the girls laughed.
“Yeah.” Another girl said. “They were all bumbling and embarrassed. None of them were safe.”
“Not even Peter.” Gwen added, taking you by surprise.
“You guys went after Peter?” You asked as a smile tugged on your lips.
“Yeah. Just because he stayed silent doesn’t mean we were gonna be.” Gwen insisted. You smiled fondly at her, and then it turned sad.
“You know, I’ve been called a slut more times than my own name at this point. But I think it hurt the most coming from him. Why is that?” You asked them.
“Because he knew you. And he still called you something he knew you weren’t.” Gwen replied. You nodded your head when you heard how you were feeling put into words.
“Come on. We can plot ways to get back at him later. We have a game to play.” Gwen said as she took your hand. You all went out onto the field and played your best game of the season.
Peter sat alone in the bleachers to watch your game. He noticed that the girls were passing to you this time, pretty often too. You scored two goals and were met with hugs from the other girls when you did. Your team won the game and walked off the field with your arms around each other. All the pain from the weekend had temporarily subsided now that you were finally welcomed by your team. You had a huge smile on you face as you walked towards the locker room until you saw Peter walking towards you. You froze until he was right in front of you.
“Hey.” He said nervously.
“What are you doing here?”
“I signed my name on your clipboard and said I’d be at all your games, didn’t I?” He smiled weakly but you stayed coldly staring at him.
“What do you want? To call me a slut some more?” You asked and folded your arms.
“No. I’m never gonna call you that again. I never should’ve said it in the first place.”
“You’re right. You shouldn’t have.” You agreed. “You told me you hated Brad and then went and acted just like him.”
“Do you think we could talk? Just the two of us?” Peter asked hopefully.
“Oh, now you want to talk? What about when I wanted to talk at the party? You didn’t seem to want to talk then. You just wanted to scream at me and call me a slut in front of everyone.”
“I’m sorry about that but-“
“Or what about in the hallway before? When those boys were making fun of me? You didn’t want to talk then. You said you loved me yet you were totally comfortable remaining silent while they ridiculed me. How does that work, Peter?”
“I’m sorry about that. About all of it. I was angry with you and I’m still trying to understand what happened. Can we please talk so we can figure this out?”
Before you could respond, one of the girls from your team came behind you and put her arm around your shoulders.
“Sorry. We have plans.” She said to Peter.
“Really? You guys are going out together?” He raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“Yep. So if you wanted to publicly embarrass her again, you’ll have to do it some other time.” She said and led you away. Peter sighed and watched you walk away with your team. He could feel his chances of making things right with you slipping away with every step you took. It seemed like talking to you and getting the whole story was gonna be harder than he thought.

hi!! Would you be able to write a soft fluffy fic with either Hoffman or Strahm? Thank you so much for your time and have a wonderful day!!
Of course!! Thank you so much to everyone who has been sending in requests! I’m on a Hoffman kick so I’m glad to contribute to fics for this man. I’m not used to writing fluff, so hopefully this is ok!
I'm Just Glad You're Okay
Tumblr media
Pairing: Mark Hoffman x gn! reader
Word count: 1.2k
Warnings: none really, very sweet and fluffy. Reader gets slightly hurt, a little bit of violence at the beginning, nothing intense
Summary: You and Mark are both working as John’s apprentices, catching the subjects of his games. One day, when one of the subjects fights back a little too hard, Mark gets protective. Mostly from Mark's POV
You had both known that Jeff had a temper, especially after the death of his son. John had warned you before he sent you out. You and Mark were prepared to fight this one, even had a whole plan for if things got a little too heated.
The plan was the last thing on Mark’s mind when Jeff took an elbow to your nose.
He had seen you hurt before, you survived a Jigsaw trap for god’s sake, but that didn’t mean he had to like it.
As he saw you stumble back, hand over the pig mask, he forgot John’s rule: don’t hurt the subjects. Or, more accurately, he didn’t give a fuck about the rule.
He grabbed Jeff’s head, slamming it against the wall of the parking garage before spinning the man around and landing a punch across the man’s jaw.
Jeff slumped to the floor, unconscious. Mark pulls his mask off, quickly making his way over to you. You were crouched over, mask in one hand, broken nose in the other. He could see the blood dripping through your fingers, and he almost forgot about the game altogether, ready to kill Jeff himself.
You and Mark had been working together for months now. John recruited you shortly after him, so he was put in charge of showing you how the game is played. Mark had never thought that he’d be in danger of becoming close with someone in this line of work: he couldn’t stand Amanda and he didn’t feel much for John. But after many late nights together of watching John’s subjects and tinkering with his inventions, Mark had realized he was absolutely fucked.
He hadn’t allowed himself to get close with anyone since his sister’s death. What was the point? But now he remembered what the point was. The point was your smile when he called you pet names. The point was seeing the focused look on your face when you were working on a trap. The point was the teasing back and forth and the look he swears he’s seen on your face when you think he’s not looking.
You were hunched over, groaning into your hand.
“Let me see,” he said, trying to gently pull your hand from your face.
You lifted your head, an angry look in your eyes and he thought, just for a moment, you might kill Jeff yourself.
“Motherfucker,” you muttered before pulling a tissue out your pocket, spitting out the blood dripping into your mouth. Mark smiled. Even when you were hurt, you didn’t panic. You were smart. No DNA left behind.
He took the tissue from your hand, placing it against your nose and tilting your head forward. “Here, keep it like that so you don’t swallow any. Get in the car, I’ll take care of him.”
You took the tissue back from him and looked for a moment like you might protest.
“That’s not a suggestion.”
You let out an annoyed laugh before heading to the car.
---
“Don’t worry about it, I can handle him. Go inside and sit down.” He grabbed your hand as you reached for the lid of the trunk, ready to help drag the man inside. You had discarded the tissue, the blood clotting. No longer in pain, now you were just pissed.
“Mark, I can – “
“I know you can. Just listen for once in your life and go sit for a minute. I can handle this asshole.”
You stare at each other for a moment before you seemingly realize he’s not backing down. You give a slight nod and head inside.
He watched the door close behind you before dragging Jeff out of the trunk. He knew you were upset, not because of the injury, but because you felt like you weren’t finishing the job. Mark knew you took pride in your work, both in your day job and in your work with Jigsaw; he had seen it.
He dragged Jeff to the starting point of his test, being a little rougher than he knew he should. But he didn’t care about Jeff, or what John would say if he saw the bruises on the man. He cared that you were sitting alone, bleeding.
He made his way to the main room where you were sitting on one of the tables, mirror in hand, trying to clean up your nose. He could hear John’s vitals beeping in the next room, separated only by the large flaps that made a makeshift doorway. Amanda must still be gone, hunting down Lynn.
“We’re probably going to have to set it,” he said as he made his way over to you.
“Yeah, yeah. Jeff all ready?”
He chuckled slightly. “Yeah, he’s ready. Don’t worry about him. We got the job done.”
“Yeah, even if I wasn’t much help.”
He stood in front of you and hooked one finger under your chin, lifting until you were looking him in the eye. “You were. It’s not your fault that dick got violent. You did great, like you always do.”
You smirked at him. “Careful, Detective. It almost sounds like you care.”
“Glad your sense of humor is intact. You ready?” he asked, fingers settling gently on your nose.
You nodded. He was quick about it, forcing the bones back into place. You let out a small sound, but hardly even flinched.
You picked the mirror back up and stared at yourself for a moment, nose no longer at an awkward angle. A slice remained on the bridge of your nose.
You smiled at Mark. “How do I look?” you asked jokingly.
He chuckled. “Just like you always do: shitty.”
You let out a laugh. “Thanks, Hoffman, just what everyone wants to hear.”
He let himself laugh with you, watching the smile spread to your eyes.
“What are you staring at, Hoffman?”
“You.”
“And why is that?”
He let out a breath, leaning on the table, hands on either side of your legs. “Wouldn’t you like to know.”
You stare at him for a moment. Don’t do it, don’t do it, he thinks to himself.
He loses all resolve when he sees you glance at his lips.
Fuck it.
He leans forward, entangling one hand in your hair and, carefully avoiding your nose, meets your lips.
After a moment, he forces himself to pull away, hand still in your hair. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”

> Liam's story – part 1 < Dr_Dale: Hi LiamMuscle! I saw your forum post about wanting more muscles and looking for shortcuts. I think I can help. I’d love to see a guy like you grow. ;) What I'm offering is far from anything you've tried before. I'm talking about genetic modification - CRISPR. Interested? LiamMuscle: Genetic modification? Sounds like sci-fi. Tell me more. Dr_Dale: In short, we can edit your DNA to modify certain genes that control your muscle growth. Specifically, this involves two things: Myostatin and Follistatin. LiamMuscle: What are those? What do they do? Dr_Dale: Myostatin is a protein that naturally limits your muscle growth. Too much of it, and your body stops itself from building more muscle mass. Follistatin, on the other hand, promotes muscle growth. It neutralizes the effects of Myostatin. LiamMuscle: And you can craft with it? Dr_Dale: Yes, through a special CRISPR treatment. I work with nanoparticles that we use as a delivery system for the CRISPR tool. These nanoparticles are incorporated into pills that you simply swallow. LiamMuscle: Sounds too simple. Just pills? Dr_Dale: Exactly. The nanoparticles are programmed to pass through the liver and go straight to your muscle cells without being broken down by your body. Once there, they start working: turning off the Myostatin gene and boosting Follistatin production. LiamMuscle: What does that mean for me? More muscles, non-stop? Dr_Dale: Theoretically, yes. Your muscles wouldn't be limited by Myostatin anymore. With increased Follistatin production, you could see significant gains, far beyond what's naturally possible. LiamMuscle: Sounds great. Send me the pills. Dr_Dale: Like any procedure of this kind, there are risks. LiamMuscle: Don't care. Don't bore me with that. Make me your guinea pig. Dr_Dale: Someone's quickly convinced. ;) I like it! You're really ready to do anything for more muscles, aren't you? LiamMuscle: When it comes to muscles, there's no such thing as too much. Bigger is always better!

“But We Love Martha Jones!” - The Doctor Who Fandom’s Selective Memory of Racism
Chapter 1 - Everybody Hates Martha
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Contrary to now popular Whovian belief, no, the fandom didn’t like Martha at first. In fact, most Martha praise wouldn't come until years after her exit. The issue came from the “Rose shadow” of RTD1. Rose’s traumatic exit hit Ten like a truck and this echoed throughout The Runaway Bride. The episode beautifully covers the stages of grief; his denial as he forgets he can’t have another Christmas on the Powell Estate; his anger at the Racnoss; his bargaining as he reminisces good times with Rose; his depression knowing her can’t get her back and eventual acceptance - ending the episode with a solemn “her name was Rose”. On paper, this was the perfect closure Ten needed for Rose and a lovely way to say goodbye to her even in her absence. But her shadow still covered the rest of S3 and S4. And not in a good way.
Tumblr media
From the jump Ten tells Martha she could never replace her but mind you, Martha never claimed she would, but the fandom acted like she did and was. Her presence is mentioned throughout S3: the “not that you’re replacing her” in Smith and Jones; the “Rose would know” in Shakespeare Code; Ten taking Martha to the New New York slums in Gridlock when Rose got “glitter and cocktails”; the ink drawing of Rose popping out of Ten’s subconscious through John Smith in Human Nature/Family of Blood to Jack and Ten’s convo about her in Utopia to even the Master in Last of the Time Lords, calling Martha useless for not absorbing the Time Vortex like a certain companion. Can you guess who she is? Martha to this day is the only companion to be treated as the rebound to a previous companion and this bled into the fandom. Despite Donna’s growth in Partners in Crime working so well because of her growth after The Runaway Bride, it was still a common sentiment to “wish we went straight from Rose to Donna”. The S4 writing didn’t help Martha’s case either. Ten tells Donna about the crush and other “complications” while conveniently leaving out the mixed signals he sent to her. Plus, he admits his mistakes to well… Donna, and not to Martha’s face despite sharing three whole episodes with her. Martha spent those episodes being a host to a Sontaran clone and being kidnapped by the Hath so the “I’m sorry for underestimating you and comparing you to my previous companion, Martha Jones” never came out of Ten’s mouth. The show’s insistence on Martha as the “failed Rose replacement” gave the fandom great excuses to attack her and welcome a mountain of bad faith criticism that haunts Martha Jones discussions to this day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn’t matter Martha saved the Doctor with CPR in her debut episode, used the Gamma Strike to defeat the pig men on the spot, saved John Smith, Joan and the rest of the village from the Family of Blood despite how racist they all were towards her, came up with the right word to banish the Carrionites on the spot, got the DNA sample needed from Lazarus and distracted him for Ten, got the 42 crew to dump the sun particles in the fuel, warned Ten about Yana’s watch and most importantly, stayed alive in one of humanity’s most hellish years to restore the Doctor and defeat the Master - she was incompetent.
It doesn’t matter Martha never attacked, belittled or actually insulted Rose but was rather tired of being put down for her instead, or the fact Rose within minutes of seeing Martha said “I was here first” and “Who is she?” with disgust - Martha was jealous and bitter.
It doesn’t matter Ten kissed her for a DNA sample despite her cheek, forehead and hand being available, knew about Martha’s crush and still acted oblivious post-Smith and Jones, hugged her then blamed her for said hug, lied to her about Gallifrey but told Rose the truth in her 2nd episode, called her a novice and literally screamed in her face in Utopia - Martha 100% to blame for the failed TenMartha friendship but not our unproblematic fave Ten.
It doesn’t matter Ten was willing to protect and travel with Donna in The Runaway Bride minutes after losing Rose and Eleven having no issue welcoming Clara after watching another version of her, Amy and Rory die in front of him - Martha had to be belittled by Ten because of grief.
It doesn’t matter Rose and Donna, then Amy and Clara in the Moffat era would need supernatural intervention to gain their titles, or that Rose and Donna needed Ten’s help a few times in their series - Martha had no agency.
It doesn’t matter Ten fell in love with Rose, Madame de Pompadour, Joan Redfern, Queen Elizabeth I, River Song, Astrid Peth AND Lady Christina, or RTD1’s insistence of (heterosexual) romance being the most human trait of humanity (which is a whole other conversation) - Martha’s romantic feelings were a flaw she needed to correct.
It doesn’t matter Rose, Amy and Clara would fall in love with the Doctor to the point of being willing to abandon their families for him, forcibly kissing him or trying to be him - Martha was the clingy one.  It doesn’t matter Professor Yana’s drumbeat began before he met the gang because it was Martha’s fault the Master came back too apparently. Remember little Tim Latimer stealing the fob because it was reaching out to him? The fans didn’t because Martha was blamed for losing the fob too! Martha’s not a flawless person but it can’t be denied Martha was critiqued for moments that were out of her control. From various nuanced plot points where she was a victim of circumstance to lacking hindsight she literally couldn't have had because she wasn’t in S1/S2, to being disliked for doing the exact same things her white female counterparts did, it’s highly unlikely the Martha Hate Train was born from constructive criticism.
