listen to your heart! journaling ideas
emotional check-in: write about your current feelings. no judgment, no editing, no need to be aesthetically pleasing, just let your heart be free so you can understand what’s truly going on.
core values: list your core values and how they align with your decisions and choices you make. are you staying true to these values?
dreams and ambitions: be specific and detailed about what you desire, no matter how big or small. consider why you have these dreams, how important they are and how they make you feel.
barriers: journal about the barriers you find that are stopping you from following your heart. can they be owned or outlined? are they impossible to move? what can you do to achieve something similar?
heart healing: think about the time when your heart was broken (not only romantically). write about the experience and how you healed or about your ongoing healing. what lessons did you learn from that?
letters from the heart: write a letter to yourself or someone else about what you’ve been holding back. will you write about love, forgiveness, angriness or some truth?
heart vs head: explore a decision where your heart and head were in conflict. how did you solve the problem? were you satisfied?
gratitude: list things that you’re deeply grateful for. focus how each one touches your heart and the emotions you feel towards them.

I need something dramatic to happen to me. For the better though. A burst of unbelievable happiness.

good things to pay attention to more often
the color of trees
clouds and how they look different throughout the day
the different colors the mornings can have. sometimes it's an orange hue and sometimes pink and sometimes it's too misty to tell
pretty color schemes in random places (the trees and your neighbors wooden patio and the color of their car)
the states of the vehicles passing you by, dents and scratches and the different trinkets suspended from their rearview mirrors
the sound of silence
the shadows the lights cast in your home, like how sunset looks different than sunrise, and the shadows the sun casts look different than those of your lamps and candles
pretty details in buildings and houses like certain types of windows or doorknobs or archways
the movement of things in the wind. flags, leaves, flowers, people's hair and coats

It's during the darkest times that even a little light shines all the brighter. Have some good news in these trying times.

Some people out there literally think any positivity is toxic positivity. Don't you see the difference between: "You can achieve everything! Just do it! Try harder! Sky is the limit!" and: "Do a little of something you enjoy to make yourself feel less hopeless. Take small steps towards your goals. Go at your own pace, slow progress is still progress. Try to change your negative mindset step by step."? Everyone can do something to make their life better. No matter how small this thing looks from other people's perspective, for you it may be life-changing. Ok, maybe your life will never be perfect, maybe it'll never even be good, because illnessess (both physical and mental), disabilities, trauma and other factors can make your life objectively hard and it's obviously not your fault, but if something may make your life at least a little more bearable, it's worth trying. If something makes you even a little closer to achieving your goals, it's worth trying. If something makes you feel even a little better, it's worth trying. You can take action, you're not just a helpless victim of circumstances. Maybe you can't do much, but you can always do something. There is hope, even if your negative thoughts and/or other people tell you otherwise.

I understand that you want to be realistic that things may go wrong, but try to remember there is a line between realism and pessimism. “Things could go wrong, so I’ll make a good plan and try my best” will always be better than “Things will probably go badly so I have to assume it will be a disaster.” Don’t dwell on the worst-case scenario.

Let your bad thoughts be bad thoughts and your bad feelings be bad feelings. Let "I feel so worthless right now" turn into "I want to do something that'll make me feel better" instead of "the fact that I feel worthless must mean that I am". There is so much power in actively refusing to tie negativity to the way you see yourself, without ignoring it altogether.
