What are you hoping to see in Jedi 3 when it comes out (either story or gameplay wise)? I really hope Cal doesn't get killed off, but given that Luke is (allegedly) the last Jedi by the time of the original trilogy, I know I have to brace myself for that possibility.
Tumblr media
So funny story, the "does Cal die at the end of Jedi 3" conversation happened (again) on Twitter last week, and I wrote a thread - you can read it here or with a non-Twitter link. Ended up getting way more attention than planned, a ton of people misunderstood my point, and now I'm a little gunshy about sharing opinions over there for a bit haha. But the community is much smaller on Tumblr so I think I'm still okay here 🫠
I do have a pile of Jedi 3 ideas from earlier this summer! Which includes the the first draft of my "Cal should live" perspective. One new thought is about the Force Slow ability - the way Cal has accessed it throughout the narrative of both games, and how that instinctual power (driven by emotion?) looks and feels different from his other force abilities, especially in Survivor.
It's ultimately been "stained" by darkness, and when (I hope) Cal finds some sort of inner peace, I'd love to see his Force Slow ability be "healed" to a new expression of that power. Not as raw and wild as the dark side, but something that comes from a place of hope instead of desperation. Maybe he learns how to be a shield instead of a sword due to Cere's teaching? (there's a small visual parallel there but that's probably worth exploring in its own post)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as Cal's existence clashing with our understanding of Star Wars canon, it can feel complicated. Technically Ahsoka and Ezra are somewhere during ESB, though disowning the Jedi title or getting stuck in the Unknown Regions might disqualify them enough. Will Cal still consider himself a Jedi by the end of the trilogy? Is this just an issue of semantics, or availability, or Luke being the only one operating by the Jedi code of old? Would Yoda actually know if any other Jedi exist?
Honestly not sure. Now if the third game lets Cal visit Dagobah, that's a different conversation...

Okay this is gonna wind up being kind of a sappy post so sorry in advance
But I’ve finally completed an official reference page for my Ed Edd n Eddy oc that I’ve had for YEARS. Physically and personality-wise she’s kind of the same as she was 8 or 9 years ago, but she’s come a long long way from the oc I made for an EEnE fanfic. She’s been with me through a lot in my life. I feel so proud for getting this ref page done, even if it’s not a lot, because I’ve done the one thing younger me wanted to do for so long, and that was to be able to draw in the show’s style—mostly because I was really inspired by a popular EEnE oc artist, Gabi Sakura, and I wanted to be like her—and it’s a small thing but i just feel so proud and happy to have finally achieved it. I tried my best on her (mostly winged it on the clothing) and while it’s not 100% exact it looks good enough, and recognizable I’d say.
Putting her ref below, and then some more lore/facts about her under the cut so the post doesn’t take up someone’s whole screen (most likely gonna infodump because I just love herrr). I will say I’m kinda being brave about posting this to the main tags because. I mean I’m talking about an Ed Ed n Eddy oc in 2025 I feel like I’m way past the point when ocs were more popular lol but it’s fine, I’m having fun and that’s all that matters
(Click for better quality because tumblr makes everything look horrible and crunchy)
Tumblr media
Some lore for Maya!: Like I said above she was originally created as an oc for an Ed Edd n Eddy x reader fanfic (specifically a Double D x reader … yeah I was obsessed with him for so long), written on Quotev by a user called Raven; her brown sweater is a direct reference to it. It used to be one of my favorite fanfics ever but I don’t think she ever wound up updating it again (and the grammar is WAY worse than I remember it being but that’s probably the norm for fanfic from 2017)
She’s Ed and Sarah’s sister but she used to just be their cousin! This is because in that x reader, iirc the reader was their cousin so of course Maya was. She’s been through many relatives because for a time I was indecisive on who to ship her with lol..
I remember at one point giving her glasses (for some reason?), and around that time I also made her British?? Yeah I have no idea what I was doing. I do remember making the changes for a story I was writing with her in it but I couldn’t tell you why.
As kinda shown in the drawing, she has scars on her arm (many more under her sleeves). Another reference to the original fanfic! They are self-inflicted, which is different to the original; just like lil old me, sometimes her emotions or stress get the better of her and she just can’t deal with them in a safer way, though she doesn’t do it as frequently as she used to.
She likes to stim with the bracelets she has on! Mostly she’ll flap her hands or swing her arm to get them to jingle and it’s soothing for her.
Also as shown in the drawing, she has some kind of relationship with Eddy’s older brother (Terry is his fanon name iirc which is better than just calling him "Eddy’s brother" all the time lol; also on that note her last name is Ed and Sarah’s fanon last name). They have their romantic moments for sure but most of the time it’s kinda (very) complicated.. think ‘A Loving Feeling’ and ‘I Bet On Losing Dogs’ by Mitski. On that note, a lot of Mitski songs are very Maya-coded… poor girl. They’re like a majority of the playlist I made for her.
As I was writing this I realized I completely forgot to give her a height… I think she’s a little shorter than Ed but not a complete shorty. Maybe around Kevin’s height? I don’t know I’ll have to look at them all next to each other again because my memory is failing me lol

I don't usually post as many in-depth OC thoughts on here anymore, but I thought I'd hop back on, even if only for a lil one. csa ment under the cut. Rambling about Lettie and Sydney today.
Tumblr media
I really really need to do something with them interacting if i get more confident writing Sydney because there's just. So much. I think they'd like each other a lot and be really close and good for each other were it not for their positions almost sort of pitting them against each other.
They're both close with Jordan and at the temple a lot, so they probably interact quite a bit, but I think it's always? With Airs On??? idk.
She feels bad for it but I think Lettie secretly dislikes Sydney because of all this IUOJFLK;DL,/jilkl, it really Stings to watch them exist.
However, I do think their shared ISSUES with one Doctor Harper would break those walls down a bit... We all know how Sydney feels about the good doctor, even if not. Why. But yea, Lettie is basically chronically ill dependent on her doctor! so cute and deeply deeply doll coded in a way that I realised makes her great Harperfodder, n being someone that's very good at reading people and such, on top of having earned herself a very quiet and polite distrust of most doctors and authority figures, does N o t think highly of Harper............ anyway something something Sydney notices Lettie having to see Harper a LOT. I think them actually talking about that, in the limited capacities they'd be willing to would break down a lot of their existing notions of each other and make them see each other more as just like. People - people each with their own hidden depths and surprises and all that. I think they'd BOND !!!! As much as I Love Lettie being a petty little fuck, I do also want this so so much.
In the timeline with fully pure Sydney that goes on to become high priest/ess and Lettie stays with the temple, I like the idea of silly silly wise-beyond-her-years, knowing-all-too-much-of-this-wretched-place Lettie advising Sydney a lot,,,, HOWEVER, the little part of me that wants them actually healthy and happy wants the process of them bonding to make them both realise and acknowledge how damaging the temple's doctrine and culture can be so they can both ollie outie byeeeeee xxx I think that can be its own timeline... Based on how Corrupt Sydney is, I think they at least would go for developing a healthier relationship with religion maybe. Idk about Lettie.
but yea
i need to think of them more because i think they have the makings for a fun and complicated kinda relationship
...
I mainly ship Sydney with Clara as far as my OCs go, but then again I also ship Clara and Lettie sometimes so I'm not exactly one to be tied down to my ships
.
Maybe this too can be yuri

Helloooo,
I'm dropping this into your ask box because of the post you made about a Cody-centric fanfic? I love the concept so much!!! I have so many thoughts about Cody on Kamino, his feelings on Clone Culture and him beeing just such an amazing Commander, brother and mum. Cause he is mum coded. I probably wont fit them all into this rant so it's possible that I will randomly ask you again, because I remembered something or I had an idea, I hope you don't mind :).
So first of all, you said you wanted to deal with Cody and Jango wich I find realy cool. I realy would love to see maybe some interaction or at least Cody's thoughts on Boba as well. I think the clones might have mixed feelings about Boba since he is treated so differently but is he actually? I mean do they ever get jelous or annoyed by him? I don't think Cody would be but maybe some of his brothers. And what's ot like for Boba, with no real friends his age, because they all age mucg faster then him? Does he even know the clones? Mhmmm many thoughts here as you can maybe tell.
Also I don't know how you wan't to do the whole Jango and Cody relationship (feel free to ignore this haha), but I always imagined that, personality-wise Cody would not actually like him. With Jango beeing a bounty hunter who sells his Service to the highest bidder, beeing a lone fighter and also rather self-centric and a bit arrogant, I imagine he would not fit well with Cody's loyalty, his morals, his selflessness and his devotion to his brothers. However, I think Cody is fascinated by what Jango represents. He is an original. He has knowlege of the world outside of Kamino. He is allowed to have a personality. He is free. He is his own human beeing. These are all things, Cody wants so badly, for himself and for all his brothers. And, through Jango, he can get little glimpses at that, can phantom what it would mean or be like, can catch a glimmer of hope. Even though it could be argued that this aching and knowing you have to settle for a fraction of everything youncould be is worse than having never known about the possibilities at all. That's why I think his relationship with Jango is incredibly important, because it's not just about them as persons but also about the collision of their worlds and the clones' potential and what the Kaminoans made them.
I don't know how you want to approach clone culture, if you want it mandalorian or not, (I always imagine a heavy mandalorian influence, but altered to fit their restricted lifes and added with little things that come just from their very unusual everyday life on Kamino) but if you want Mandalorian Influence then I think Jango plays a very important role in that as well. And maybe that's also why Cody has very complicated feelings about him. I think Clone Culture is incredibly important to him, because it can make them feel like people and Jango brought them something to start with, to hold onto. Does he idiolize Jango? I don't think so. Not as a person. But he wouldn't be who he is without him (he wouldn't even exist wow) so... it's complicated.
I think my feelings about his batch are a topic for another time, but I NEED them adopting Baby Rex. That's very important to me. They are all protective older brothers.
On the Codywan topic: I like to imagine that Cody already catched a glimpse at him when Obi Wan visited Kamino in AotC. And... not to say that he had an instant crush, but I do think seeing someone from the outside world, maybe even the first other human that didn't bear his face, had a huge impact on him. I actually wrote a scene about that a while ago (someday I will get on with writing my own Codywan Fics haha), it's in german but if you want I can translate it and send it to you so you can see what I mean. I think his visit probably was a huge turning point in their time on Kamino. It meant the war was coming and they all anticipated it, but did they realy want it to come? It would get them off Kamino, but they would also most likely die sooner or later.
In terms of them realy meeting and falling in love I usually cant even decide what flavor I prefer. I usually love the shit out of every Codywan variety, if it's a Cody fresh from Kamino still ideolizing the Jedi and then beeing taken aback by how much they actually care and how unsuited for war they realy are. Or if he has had a few missions already and then beeing surprised that Obi Wan is actually quite capable and conpetent. Anyway I think Obi Wan earns Cody's respect by beeing competend and badass, then his trust by caring for his men and always listening to Cody in making his plans and decisions and then his love by beeing his caring, compessionate, selfless and loving self. Obi Wan is just so effortlessly treating them like persons, with him, Cody doesn't have to fight for that and it makes everything so much lighter. They share the burgen of leadership and trsponsibilty and it's a heavy burden but together it's just a little bit easier, just a little bit more durable. But hey, you know all this, I'm just rambling at this point.
Depending how early into the war you want them to meet, I also love some Cody and PadawanAnakin interaction. Just him and Rex getting into shenenigans as Commander and Captain of the 212th and Cody and Obi Wan standing by, facepalming. Older sybling solidarity is important part of their dynamic to me haha.
Oh god, I already wrote far to much, but just for the last part: I'd love for clone-rebellion-era Cody to meet either of Quinlan, Ventress and Hondo, if not all of them. Ventress' history with the clones (Wolffe) and Obi Wan would make for a very interesting dynamic and I can see him just beeing completely done with Hondo and Quinlan, just like he was in Clone Wars (their dynamic was already so fun to watch haha), only now, they also remind him of Obi Wan and he doesn't now if that makes it better or worse but it certainly makes it more personal. Especially with Quinlan it's probably hard, he has every reason not to trust Cody and to Cody it's probsbly hard to accept that Quinlan survived if he at this point still thinks that Obi Wan died. If not, maybe Quinlan can help him find Obi Wan and then we also have Quinlan and Obi Wan Reunion! Only if you even want a reunion of course haha.
OK anyway I'm sorry I rambled and I also apologize for the millions of spelling mistakes I probably made but... You asked! I will probably be back with more thoughts if you'll have me, haha. Keep me updated with how this fic is coming along, I'd hate to miss it :)!
Lots of fun and good writing!
I'm really hapoy you reached out and shared your ideas with me, that's why i put that post up after all ;)
I've already written part of the Kamino Arc by now, but I will try to include what you said, because it actually fits rather well with what I already have. In my story Jango takes an interest in Cody first and pays special attention to him. In the beginning Cody likes this and feels more mandalorian pride, but throughout the next years his admiration for Jango and what he stands for transforms into resentment because he matures and learns what it means for Jango to do what he had done and also, because the special treatment he gets separates him from his brother's. He realizes the unfairness of how his brothers are treated and how they seem to start to dislike Cody too. He transforms from Kote, who is Jango's protege, to Cody, who is the clone's certified big brother. He's a bit proud and selfish in the beginning, but I want to show how he changes and how he came to care about his brothers so much, even more than most other clones.
I'm not at the Rex part yet, but Cody will probably notice him and the batch will adopt him.
At the moment Cody and Boba have a really good relationship, due to Jango liking Cody. But when Cody eventually prioritizes his brothers over being Janho'g favourite and starts to get angry with him, Boba will probably feel abandoned by him. I feel like he would think Cody has chosen everything else over him and Jango probably won't let them spend time with each other anymore. So Boba once loved Cody and eventually resents him for leaving him alone once more. Boba grew up isolated from everyone else and Cody was one of the only ones Jango allowed to spend time with him, since the other clones don't like Boba for getting to be a child.
Cody focuses a lot of his time on the clones afterwards and neglects his relationship with Boba. I will come back to this later when Jango dies and the whole thing with Boba and Mace and the Bounty Hunters starts during the war.
I hope this fits with what you think about Cody's characterization.
Feel free to add anything you want to this. You can also ask questions, if you want to know how I'll handle certain relationships or events.
I'm not really planning the Codywan part until I'm finished with Kamino and know where this story has led me, but I will come back to your points then.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I hope you like mine hahha
I also plan on uploading a glimpse of the beginning sometime next week and I hope you'll give me feedback on that one. :)
PS. I'm actually German too, so if you want to you can send me yours. That's also why I'd be glad for everyone to point out spelling mistakes or something similar.

hey! absolutely LOVE your twine games. i was wondering what twine format did you use for your games? is it harlowe or sugarcube? just bc i've made twine intfics using harlowe and haven't had much luck with trying to put images and sounds into it. so i'm curious! hope you don't mind me asking!!
i used harlowe! i host files on github and embed them via a basic img/audio src command. images are pretty straightforward, use a bit of html or css to style width properties or whatever else you want.
it’s worth remembering that anything you can do with raw html or css you can do in harlowe, so if the twine cookbook isn’t helping, start looking through html coding sites :^)
audio is a little trickier in harlowe, you can’t really make continuous looping tracks between passages (there are plugins, but they’re clunky as hell and unintuitive) AND have to format audio sourcing very weirdly in the code itself, but if all you want is like… button click sound effects or other small things, its doable. anything more complicated and you should probably switch to sugarcube.
sugarcube is very good. it has good image and audio hosting, and works SUPER well with javascript, so you can make some absolutely gorgeous things in it. the downside is it’s a lot uglier code-wise than harlowe + takes more effort to learn. still worth it IMO.
i actually planned to code link rot in sugarcube before realizing i was better off just making my own website lol, so i did a fair amount of work in the program. Preddy Good

Finally making a dedicated Roach post!!!
Tumblr media
this turned out to be a REALLY long post so I will add a cut below to decrease the size for people scrolling :)
First off: Basic questions.
What exactly is Roach?
They’re my ghoulsona. So.. I project on them a lot. This fella’s pronouns are He/They/pretty much anything masculine.
He was made and named by a friend of mine! :)
They’re quite a fiend if i’m honest. Like any ghoul this guy causes Problems (tm) on purpose. The “biting problem” is only partially alleviated by the mask but hell forbid you run into them without it. Teeth Teeth Teeth Teeth!!!!! They also have a bit of a tendency to steal things just to see if the person will notice. Or hide things places to see if someone notices. Or both.
He… Also just likes anything shiny. Shiny guitar pick? Thats his now. A loose tile on a ministry wall with a pretty engraving? pocketed. Nobody would notice a little bit of bedazzling on papal robes missing, right? There’s probably a drawer somewhere full of stuff he’s collected.
Why the name “Roach”?
It spawned from a joke where I said i was impossible to kill. That i’d probably stick around even after the end of the world (VERY difficult to get me sick with any actual illness and I’ve bounced back from a TON of injuries.) so they compared me to a Cockroach. The name stuck when this guy was made!
Does he know any instruments? (essentially what kinda ghoul is he/would he be)
Not exactly. It’s complicated. He doesn’t play or really know how to play much. But he does have some big dreams…
Tumblr media
What does Roach look like without the mask?
Not really much of interest here since I haven’t put thought into ghoul design headcanons. He has a bit of a messy side-shaved mullet under there. Some light scarring. VERY dark eyes he’s built like a Bug. Real and true.
With that out of the way, what about Lore?
Do I have anything set for Roach lore-wise?
Eh… Not much.
The one thing I know is that Swiss probably adopted them. And that Aether would be like a cool uncle or second father figure to em. Why? Dude I have no idea this was prompted by a dream I had and it wouldn’t leave my head.
They’re also scared of water. That could have some story implications but i haven’t thought far into it.
Tumblr media
ROACH FACTS NOBODY ASKED FOR
- he uses dog shampoo. he smells like a freshly cleaned dog all the time. wtf
- the pants are blue because i made a jorts joke once LMAO.
- horrifyingly flexible. Like Genuinely. Horrifying. He can almost invert his arms. Like twist his shoulders 270° like a damn owl but his arm. This guy’s got some wild hypermobility. he can also comfortably sleep draped over stuff like a towel or folded forward like a lawnchair.
- they actually have pretty poor vision. They like to wear the (impera era) mask often because the lenses help with it a bit (SOMEONE GET THIS BOY GLASSES!!!!)
- sneezes like a cat. this isn’t just because ghouls are cat-coded to me.

25. what animal do they remind you of?
i used to think a tiger but then i decided agaisnt it and im thinking a mix between a wolf and a fox
26. do you know when their birthday is? would you get them a gift?
YESSS i baked passion fruit cupcakes for him!!
27. how did you realise you were in love with them? was it love at first sight? or gradual?
i think ive always been in love with him, my heart knew but my brain took a regretfully long time to catch up, mistaking it for just curiosity :'

he probably drinks, probably doesnt smoke but it would be hot if he did both AHAHHAH but oh wells
29. if you could reenact a movie scene with them (from any movie!) what would it be? which character would you be and which would they be?

Babylon 5 s03e11 Ceremonies of Light and Fire table of contents - previous episode
It opens with a neat shot of Ivanova’s face in a porthole, backs away to show how tiny it is against a fraction of the ship, then back in. Love little things like that when they’re sprinkled in. Also, really smooth use of CGI there.
Garibldi’s arm is broken and, to my surprise, Ivanova rubs his back supportively when he talks about not wanting to be in a cast!
Delenn and Lennier are working hard.
“Lennier, you still haven’t told me what you think of all this.” “Opinion doesn’t enter into it. What is, is. Prophecy said one day we would unite with the other half of our soul in a war with the ancient enemy. It is what we have done.”
It’s amusing to see a mystic that’s so pragmatic. But Lennier hold multitudes. He’s a complicated, serene little guy. I just wanna. Squish him. In a nice way.
Not sure who was almost just attacked. Marcus? Probably Marcus. He’s from the Mars colony and is happy they seceded from Earthgov.
Sheridan is back in a dress uniform for the funeral of the crew who died defending B5 last episode. It’s surprisingly few, and only seems to have human names. I do hope we get a recounting of the Narns who died as well.
Does Londo holographically record all his meetings? Amazing. Love the tiny hologram to shame Lord Refa from Londo, who should be feeling a lot more shame than he is. So funny - legitimately funny seeing Londo try to shame Lord Refa into doing the right thing. When did shame ever work on Londo? Oh, never mind. He’s backing up the shame with poison. That’s a much better insurance policy.
Londo seems to be feeling emboldened by his meeting with Lady Morella, third wife of the late Emperor, and seer of renown. Since he made a series of Less Idiotic Decisions and Delenn wants to invite him to the healing ceremony it looks like we might be at the beginning of Londo’s redemption arc!
Ahhh, the would-be-murderers are Nightwatch who went undetected, and one of them is a total murderous psychopath who “once took seven days to kill a Minbari,” and from the sound of it, enjoyed slowly dismembering a living person and would love to do it to Delenn! Fucking creepy! I don’t like that! To the Nightwatch person who said the Minbari are weird about their leaders and might take it personal if they kill Delenn…yeah. Maybe reconsider your life choices.
This dive bar people have been ending up since season one is, I have just realized, one of the places where B5 is actually high fantasy. People slink around in dark hooded cloaks, in leather bondage gear, with strange costumes and bandoliers slung around themselves…it’s the fucking tavern everyone starts their quest in when they play DnD.
The station’s base setting is as a snarky, New Jersey-accented AI? That’s actually quite fun.
Londo, don’t dish out the snark if you can’t take it. And also, be more grateful that after you expressed that you missed Delenn a few episodes ago, that she invited you to something!
Something about Londo brings out my urge to lecture directly to the character. Probably because he could use a good talking-to.
Tragic Marcus backstory! It seems he didn’t grow up on Mars colony, since it was destroyed, or perhaps it was a single dome? He doesn’t want to do the ceremony, since it requires giving something up, and he’s lost his friends, family, and home. Delenn says, wisely, that he must give up his grip on the past, and how he uses it to hurt himself.
I knew there was depth behind those devil-may-care green eyes. He’s so rogue-coded.
The Nightwatch successfully kidnapped Delenn! And Mr “I like to cut people up while they’re alive” does not like being told that she’s faced worse than him. He wants to be the worst thing anyone’s ever faced.
Wow, Delenn really got to him! Her psychological warfare game is on point.
The aftermath of this barfight isn’t doing anything to convince me that Marcus isn’t rogue-coded.
Lennier: “I see they trained you well back home.” Marcus: “I’m not repressed anymore.”
B5 is a comedy, actually. That's the real quote. And then Lennier goes, basically…. “Me neither. I love Delenn!!” Me too, guy.
He’s her knight! In a scholarly way! He’s a chivalric ideal. Very sweet. Very high fantasy of him to confess his love of a Lady to a rogue in a tavern. Me too, guy.
The senior staff: we need more info Marcus: I got u. Level 14. Senior staff: how do u know that Marcus, hiding his bloody knuckles: a kind stranger told me
Are they having a shootout in the fusion reactor core? Fucking ballsy, as is Captain Lennan successfully throwing down with his hands tied behind his back. And Delenn jumping in front of a knife for John??? Wow, I got 20 credits on John not killing him. Ope, I win.
“I can no longer imagine my world without you in it. I don’t know exactly when or how it happened, but I’m glad it did.”
OK, so I was having feelings about everyone bringing their uniforms and confessions to Delenn…and I was tearing up over Susan’s “I think I loved Talia,” and when Dr Franklin came in, Partner said, “I’m addicted to speed,” and then Franklin said “I think I have a problem,” and that shook me right out of my sadz with a guffaw. I miss Talia! Bring Talia back! I don't believe she's gone for good. I was promised. p r o m i s e d . a kiss.
Nifty new uniforms! For a moment I was almost correct with my joking prediction that they were going to run around in civvies till humanity is reunited.
If Londo and G'Kar had some to the ceremony, did Delenn have new kicks for them too?
Next!

As I'm reading through the Vorkosigan saga this go-round, I can't help but imagine how I might read it aloud, even though I almost certainly won't; it's so long and it's such a complicated prospect. The question of accents alone is just boggling! I can only read consistently in three accents, maybe fudging it to four because I can go a little bit up and down the plumminess scale with my English accent. Obviously there are a lot of different accents going on throughout the books, but I have to pick and choose where to assign my three to go with where differences would be most impactful and realistic.
The evidence is that the vast majority of the dialog in the books is spoken in some futuristic variety of English. When word origins are discussed, they line up with the true English word origins; when the MCs visit Earth, they are in London, and they can communicate easily with the locals; at the embassy in London, translation technology is required for conversation between people speaking other languages, and similar technology isn't mentioned often in other settings. Beta Colony is pretty North American coded (religion is common, but liberal ideas are dominant) and Barrayar is pretty Europe-coded; it's mentioned the empire has four official languages, and we see people speaking Greek, not expecting to be understood by the nobility. Based on the feel of the naming conventions and a mention of the Cyrillic alphabet being used, I'm guessing the four languages are (or have evolved from) English, French, Russian and Greek, but that English is pretty dominant in the cities.
Other nearby places in the galaxy seem to be able to speak to the MCs without translation more often than not, but they are mentioned to have accents. I have an idea what an Escobaran accent might sound like, based on implied name origins, but I wouldn't want to attempt to reproduce it myself. I imagine there are a lot of places in other parts of the galaxy where other languages are more dominant, but that we don't see much of those areas in the series (at least in the parts I've reread so far).
I imagine from the description of a Betan accent as "flat" and a Barrayaran accent as "guttural" that using my inherent mid-atlantic American accent for Betans is probably pretty spot-on, but the Barrayaran accent would be more of a pan-European beast that I wouldn't dare approximate. I'd sub in various English accents instead, from plummy for the Vor to more cockney for the lower classes. And American and English are my two most solid accents, and the most important contrast to make plot-wise. It's a pretty obvious choice.
I also have a solid-ish Irish accent, and I think the way to use that to best effect would be to assign it to the Komarran characters. I don't know how it fits with the actual background of the Komarran settlers, but it's very much appropriate to their galactic political role.
That leaves every other place we see to a default American accent, as well, but I think that makes a fair amount of sense, given how Barrayar's history played out in terms of instilling their differences, while allowing Betans and other "galactics" to sort of marinate into a more uniform culture, at least linguistically.
So that's how I'd assign people their accents, broadly speaking! Of course that leaves Miles wildly swinging between American and English, and Mark probably a muddy combination of all three, unless he's focusing. But deciding how that works on the fly would be the fun part!

ok so I finally started working on my actor tag page. i figure that this whole project of retagging gifs is such an undertaking in the first place that it will be very gradually done. So to start gradually creating a tag page for actors is reasonable.
i was thinking back to when i learned a little html, and thought it might be more economical (space wise) to create a table of actor links in the space I have. Everything I currently have (on the movie link list) is in an ordered list with only one column. The table would allow me to have three columns of links (I tried more columns but it won't work with the space I have). So I read up on html tables and figured out some basic code for one and messed with it until I got it looking reasonable. The spacing and the text size and the table size are all tricky bs and I hate it, especially when combined with all the complicated css stuff that exists outside of the coding you can do on individual pages within the blog theme. But I managed to get it looking decent anyway (somehow). Once I figured out all the particulars, building the list went quickly. So far I have surnames starting with A & B. https://moviesludge.tumblr.com/actors . As I tag more gifs, the pages will be more complete. And this list will eventually have more actors added to it, even within what's already here. I'll probably break up the actor lists into chunks, like A-M, N-Z or something.
Also, I've been keeping a running list of all the tags I'm using on my blog in a spreadsheet. I have a list of all the actors I've tagged so far (1,318). But I had them listed alphabetically by first name. So I had to look up sorting by last name, which required me to figure out the "SPLIT" function that takes 2 pieces of data from one cell (like first and last name) and splits them into 2 cells. It's not too hard to do, but any three-named people or "Jr.s" or anything else that required 2 spaces got messed up (not to mention single-named-actors). But it's a minor problem. After splitting I was able to sort by surname. Then came the task of CHOOSING the names I want to include in the link list. It ended up not being as hard as I thought.

Rewriting the Saegen Folk, a Chinese-Viking Fusion Culture (WIP)
Tumblr media
So, you've seen what cultures look like when they're DONE -- when multifarious stories could live in them. But what about when they're not?
Here's my Saegen culture. They were originally just German-ish Viking-esque peoples and they were BORINGGGGGG and also, I built this whole culture for a different world YEARSSSS ago and then imported it into Yssaia. And at this point, my interests have just shifted at this point and I want to add more of my Chinese heritage (from which, I am very distant but I am interested in getting back in touch!) So, let's start looking at a revamp, shall we?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, the above is basically what I had from my old world. I mean, I also had a whole law codex that was the equivalent of Hammurabi's Code as well as a Nobility Etiquette Handbook and the start of a story that got re-molded and re-written... But yeah. Here's what we're working with.
I started with the fashion (because Fashion parameters = easier new character design) and reworked it... barely. A little.
Tumblr media
As you can see, the men barely changed but women were more changed (also yes, something something, clothes don't have a gender, etc.) One of the biggest things that changed was they now have a hanfu-style undershirt.
But this was a few months ago and I think an aesthetic change isn't the actual problem here... the problem is that the culture doesn't have a good emotional core to which I relate AND the story I wrote about Ymver, their hero, just doesn't resonate with me anymore either.
SO let's start at the basics: Geography & geopolitics. As you can kinda see on the above map, they live near the artic and, in part, under the Upper Continent. Here's another (admittedly, sketchy) map to help illustrate:
Tumblr media
That means it is cold and dark. The only sun they get is in the mornings and maybe evenings, with that sliver in Selkie Territory that also gets some sun. So, fashion-wise, I have the right idea with the furs and multiple layers. Food-wise, they're going to probably be pretty reliant on the ocean and that breadbaskety area, since Nouveau Thuille took the river valley... Unless...
Right now, in my head, Saegenheim is just a normal city with brownish pallisades around it... But what if it had underground agriculture? Underground agriculture with some kind of fungi that thrived in the Permafrost? What if there's a whole ecosystem built on these fungi with insects and semi-aquatic animals and such? Now there's an a city that sounds interesting...
A while back I started a story for a class that was loosely inspired by Saegenheim, where Demons were being murdered but no one cared because Demons... I feel like that could work even better with a vertical "class divide" in the city. Very Arcane upper-city, under-city...
You know who else has upper/under cities? Hoyoverse games -- Belobog and, very soon here, Fontaine.
And you know what I just started on? A pre-emptive Fontaine fix-it fanfic called "The Sunken City" lol... Maybe I should take some ideas from that for my Saegenheim re-write....
Also, with how close to the North things are, I think they must see the Endless Ice to the North of them as like... a holy relic of the God of Winter, Asarlai. And given that he is the Father of Humanity in their eyes -- and also, the source of their magic/Sages, it makes sense to live nearby...
So maybe the North Pole of Yssaia is just a giant Ysse Crystal... "Asarlai's Throne"
^^^ This is all just me spitballing from my analysis. Like, you saw, I LOOKED at what I had and then started going "What does this need next? What ideas are inspiring me right now?"
Also also, the Chinese influence is easy to see where it goes now: Chinese culture is a lot about respecting your place in society, respecting authority, the responsibilities of authority, and harmony. (Obviously, it is more complicated than that, but now it's time to go research more!) BUT the way I can still give them the individualism that is the downfall of the North is to have the focus be on families and villages, while being distrustful of Outsiders...
Now, I just gotta look into how the Chinese handled the cold historically and implement some of those techniques...
So now it's research time! But this post has gone on long enough with me rambling. More of this as I do more of this rewrite!

No Thoughts, Just Knives & Banter: A Spark of the Everflame Review
park of the Everflame by Penn Cole is fast-paced, easy to devour, and honestly exactly what I needed after my Onyx Storm slump. Some fantasy authors drown you in world-building, and I end up flipping back like, “Wait, who’s fighting again?” But Penn? She feeds it to you in manageable bites. I might have been confused at times, but it felt like I was learning the world with Diem. No harm, no foul!
Let’s talk about Diem. She’s messy, complicated, and incredibly unreliable– and I love her for it. Watching her not fall for Henri? A personal win. (THANK GOD! He was giving Chaol. Sorry Chaol stans.) I’m not here for the “I want you to unknowingly drop everything you stand for and join my side of the war, but I’m going to give you no backstory and keep you in the dark because it amuses me” trope. No thanks! I’ve seen this film before… and I didn’t like the ending!
But Diem herself? I felt so drawn to her. She’s constantly questioning herself– wanting to fight for what’s right, realizing maybe she picked the wrong side, and loving people who might not deserve it. Her father figure and Henri taking opposite stances in the war just deepens the internal tug-of-war. She feels unreliable, but maybe she’s just overwhelmed- and who wouldn’t be?
Now Luther… oof. I want to be into him, but something’s just not clicking. If Henri wasn’t such a walking red flag, I’m not sure I’d be rooting for Luther and Diem. There’s mystery, there’s hear, and he clearly cares about her– but he’s still a bit too enigmatic. I personally need more. More softness, more depth, more something to balance the powerful broody energy. Still, that knife scene when he checks her for weapons? I could eat that up every time. Maura was internally screaming with her little cane and so was I.
The world of Lumnos is brutal and beautiful, and the story blend magic, rebellion, and inner conflict seamlessly. One theme that really stood out was Fate vs. Choice. Diem doesn’t know the full prophecy for herself yet, but you can feel it simmering just underneath the surface of Spark of the Everflame. I’m sure the next one will rip it right open.
Vibes-wise, it gave me From Blood and Ash meets The Cruel Prince— not in plot, but in vibes and energy. There’s political tension, coded language, dramatic reveals, and that delicious banter. No bully-romance here, but Diem definitely knows how to spar.
Closing the last page, knowing what Diem is probably going to face next? Yeah… we’re in for a wild rife. Bring on Glow of the Everflame.
Rating: 3.75 / 5 Stars

I had completely forgotten those were his teacher's exact words. So, sorry to Taylor but I think in this case I believe more his teacher's words cause I have no reason to believe he was biased and only saying that cause he wanted to leave with Matty Healy 😂🤷 //
This is an insane thing to say because I was good at technical drawing in school and my teacher said I could probably pursue something related to that but it doesn’t mean you can compare me to like actual architects? That same teacher also told me I did a really good job at picking a color palette for one project we did, and I can’t compare myself to artists who know about color theory. I was also really good at everything logic related but I can’t be compared to people who code? A teacher or a professor seeing potential in a certain area doesn’t mean that person can be compared to actual professionals? I hate Matty as much as the next person but this is wild
RIGHT!????? Like Joe’s always been a creative leaning guy but like Matty’s genuinely a fantastic songwriter and his prose is fucking exceptional too? He talks a huge amount of shit lol like out his mouth but when he sits down to write - and maybe this is also why he uses the typewriter to not get distracted by Internet stuff because he does write stupid stuff online all the time lol - he comes up with legitimately exceptional things. Obviously when compared to Joe Alwyn, who is an actor whose backup career degree wise would be teaching acting or secondary school English - Matty is actually a poet (and a writer)? Also I’m a huge fan of the folkmore WB songs (Sweet Nothing doesn’t really hit it for me) but when people were truthering alternate WBs, a few things I said repeatedly is the musical structure tends not to be that complicated and also the vibes are quite different to other Taylor songs in that Joe seems to lean to coming up with little scenarios in his head, like almost little short stories, and they’re quite cool but they’re generally not very profound. Like I love Champagne Problems and I personally believe he had a lot to do with that because he was like “but imagine a breakup where you can’t explain it, that’d be really sad” kind of vibe. That’s very different to Matty’s stuff, which regularly and quite profoundly comments on the world. I mean a lot are also silly, but usually intentionally so tbh like Matty doesn’t accidentally write silliness, he actually plays into that and makes jokes and shit. Not an insult to Joe, who isn’t a professional writer (whereas Matty is) or excusing all of Matty’s many fucking fuckups (which we don’t need to do to acknowledge that he’s a great writer).

Happy WBW! 💜💌 Are there any unique punishments for certain crimes in the world of your WIP? Do authorities in your WIP take certain crimes (murder, theft, etc.) more or less seriously than we would? Are there unique crimes that can be committed due to the nature of this magic/society/world? :) - @liv-is
Happy wbw! Thanks for the asks! These are gonna be hypotheticals XD cause I haven't thought much into this until now.
Well I'd say the most unique punishments are probably in Space Don't Dictate Fate. Since outer space and power monsters that play god. So probably like getting consumed by said monster(s) you happened to piss off or disobey. Lol in this world somebody's friends probably defaced some religious property and was then punished to keep walking until they found the edge of the world.
Alright actual crime wise let's dive into the other two big wips
Robots & Gardens
Pretty standard on what counts as crimes. The technology is the main thing making this more complicated.
So you aren't supposed to tag cyborgs or any modified humans. Tags mark robots for repair or destruction. So tags could kill those with robotic parts sustaining important parts of their bodies.
I'd imagine it's also illegal to destroy any patrolling bots. But it takes awhile for them to get pissed off enough to count this as a crime. Just a little misdemeanor.
A lot of authorities are bots but it is a mixed force. XD There are a lot of crimes they do take more seriously because they are literally following code and rules. If exceptions aren't coded how are they gonna know?
I don't think they're very creative. They probably just toss you in a prison block.
Fucked at Five
Lol very very illegal for morphers to be/live in human locales. Animal control and government in general are real assholes about it once they find out.
Certain things aren't supposed to pass over human fortifications. Smuggling is probably the second highest crime.
Not to say morphers don't care about death. They're just less fussy about punishing others when it happens. Unless it was a hate crime then they'll kill you on the spot.
A lot of humans just exile or send criminals off for experimentation. Lol and a lot of morphers punish criminals with death, hard work, or they smuggle them back into human civilizations to cause more trouble.

THIS!!
I still havent been able to listen to all of his new voicelines properly, but from what i have seen, its so fun to analyse his character from it.
Because the fandom has kinda twisted him in some cases to be alot nicer and sweeter than weve ever actually seen him XD
Which like, im still all here for! Fanon is great and completely fine! And there is also potential for the fanon to be true to a degree under the right circumstances that we just haven't seen yet 👀
But like, the whole thing of how the dcas used to be for the theatre but are now in the daycare is really interesting to think about, character implication wise, especially now that we have these new voicelines.
(And it also has great fanfic dynamic potential 👀)
Because, the job theyre currently doing isnt what they were made for. Everything/most things theyre doing in the daycare are likely learned behaviours, and even if some of it is programmed, they would probably be aware that its new programming and would still feel weird since their base code wasn't meant to have it added, which may have even caused unsaid complications or conflicts with their original theatre programing.
I think this is really interesting because, when you think about it, it actually has the potential to make them seem much more human, sympathetic and even relatable.
Its essentially the robot equivalent of being stuck in a dead end job you hate but can't quit.
It just makes me imagine scenarios of Sun trying his very best to run the daycare and take care of the kids, but making little mistakes over and over again because its just not what hes meant to do. He snaps at the children a little too much, is a bit too controlling of what they do, gets a little too annoyed when they dont pay attention to or listen to him. But its all because hes powerless to even do any better. Hes just simply not the right guy for the job. Just like how some peoples personalities dont match well to certain jobs, his literal purpose and programming doesn't match his.
I can also imagine this being insanely stressful for them too. Never being able to do the job correctly and being in constant fear of being decommissioned because they do something wrong.
This idea can also somewhat recontextualise Suns behaviour in SB - Hes trying so hard to be nice and to make sure Gregory doesn't get hurt because it could very well be his last straw. Hes gritting his teeth and desperately putting on a smile the same way someone would before going to their awful customer service job. Hes stressed and slightly manic, trying to do his new job correctly.
But we also always have seen his dramatic personality that was made for the theatre shine through. Hes verrryyy dramatic and extreme in the way he talks and acts. And i imagine that this, along with his perfectionist tendencies that make him into a bit of a diva (particularly in HW2) is only amplified by his frustration and lack of proper creative outlet. His aggression and almost bratty tantruming is because he isnt where he wants to be, and his code is probably screaming that at him. I imagine that this is all a part of his personality to a degree, but under these incorrect circumstances, it just kinda fucks with both his mental state and programming.
Potentially, he was much more controlled and genuine and even kind in the theatre, because these behaviours had their correct outlets. So, in the daycare 24/7, without this, they all just kinda build up with nowhere to go except getting blown up in the faces of the poor unfortunate children and staff.
Overall, i would read Sun's character as dramatic and silly, but mildly pretentious, sassy and he considers highly of himself. He has enough self control and kindness to be nice to the children no matter what, but still has the potential to be childish, bratty, moody and verryyy passive aggressive at times (mostly with staff) when frustrated. Hes a little bit mischievous and likes being the centre of attention and making others happy. He's more aware than than his character on stage lets on, but is indeed still pretty innocent and oblivious. He could possibly be calculating and even manipulative, but is still bark no bite for the most part. He can be soft, caring, considerate and genuine, but only to people who reciprocate that or are close to him.
This is how imagine he used to be when working in the theatre.
How we see him in the daycare is a warped version of his base personality, twisted by stress (which, along with inconveniences, he is awful at dealing with) and bitterness. He still loves the kids and doing fun silly things with his little friends, but the childcare role he has to take while interacting with them makes him irritable, frustrated and manic.
And god, this is all without even mentioning Moon or the virus 💀
Granted, this is my current thoughts without listening to every voiceline, and is just a verrryyy all over the place random ramble rather than a cohesive analysis XD
Should i ever do a proper analysis??? 👁 👁
I do kinda want to present all my thoughts in a more complete, organised and cohesive manner lmao
Help Wanted 2: Sun's Behaviour
So I've seen a lot of ya'll discussing Sun's mean and sassy behaviour in the arts & crafts minigame, so i want to point something out: Sun and Moon were not originally in the daycare.
According to Tales from the Pizzaplex, the daycare attendant was originally a theater bot! They were eventually repurposed for the daycare, though we have little to no information about when or why this happened.
Suns behavior makes a lot more sense with this is mind. They were supposed to be a performer, not a caretaker! It's no surprise that they'd act this way when they weren't made for childcare in the first place! Sure they could've been reprogrammed, but we all know that fazbear entertainment employees absolutely suck at their jobs and likely didn't do it properly.
In conclusion: no matter how good they may have gotten at childcare, Sun is still a nitpicky, passive-aggressive, perfectionist performer at heart.
