Anyway people of tumblr I got a cat and her name is maple and she is awful and I love her

She loves to sleep outside my bedroom door, then wake up to my alarm , then sit and meow until I let her in, and she likes to just generally lurk in my doorway when I have the door open. She also tries to get me any time I’m in the bathroom. She hides under my roommates beds. She likes to take up a whole entire cushion of our couch. She eats most but not all of her wet food and gets annoyed with me because of it. I love her

#She had a reputation with the adoption center here in town for being grumpy and not at all cuddly or friendly #In other words. My first non lizard or fish pet and I picked the cat with people issues and who is the biggest hater #And this sweet little old lady I chatted with says that my roommates and I are the most this cat has ever been okay with #See Miss Maple had been passed up by multiple families because of how much of a hater she is #But I had seen this cat for months at the pet store and I could just feel it #I needed to get her and I’m so glad I have because god. She’s six. She’s grumpy. She’s easily overwhelmed. She likes to be the only pet #She doesn’t like being bugged. She needs specific food. She will bite if even slightly scared. Not many would give her a chance #But I saw her dumb (affectionate)little face and I needed her and nobody else was giving her a chance!!! So ofc I would #Every day she settles more and is progressively getting more sweet. She purrs at me!!#I have no regrets. I adopted the hater kitty with issues because I felt like she just needed a home and I was right #And even if she gets overstimulated. She was headbutting me literally on the first day I met her #Even if she’s not cuddly. She makes an effort to hang out around us. She likes to sit in my room and doorway and likes to watch me cook #Or watch movies with us #She’s not the most affectionate but that’s okay because she’s finally got a home after over a year of being in the kitty system #And I know this cat likes us. That’s all that matters

i wish there was an easy way to let younger parts feel safe fronting. stuffed animals and etc is fine at home, not so much in public as a guy in his 20s. having to mask so much in public is already exhausting for our adult parts, but our younger parts are also masking around our friends who know we're a system. it's just exhausting to exist

Truly a horrible yet amazing highlight of how no matter you try to make tradition look pretty or modern it's still the same traditions that barred women from going to school or even voting. This notion of being a "stay-at-home" mom, dad, or partner is one rooted in the bourgeois as only the upper and middle class have this luxury, working class people must work regardless of their child's needs just to put food on the table and pay rent. This has happened before in the 60s, we can't and shouldn't accept this no matter what.
