ok i've been meaning to make this post for a while bc i haven't seen anyone else do this but

sky: cotl terminology!

sky fandom has a lot of terminology that could be confusing if you're a new player or just don't interact with the fandom that much. below is a list of words you might see around and what they mean. let me know if i missed anything ^-^

Sky kid/skid: the little guy you're playing as.

Moth: New players in sky. usually rock the default look. they're called this because the brown cape kinda makes them look like real moths :3

Butterfly: An advanced moth. usually wear base game cosmetics like plain capes and masks. have figured out the general mechanics but not enough to be considered an advanced player.

Veteran: Someone who's been playing for a while. you "officially" become a vet if a spirit from your first season comes back as a TS.

Chibi: player who wears the base game mask that makes them small, known as the "chibi mask".

Ikemen: players that are subjectively considered "handsome". Usually vets that wear rhythm or fire prohet pants, any of the elders' hair and owl hair, among other things. ikejou is the female equivalent.

Ts/traveling spirit: a spirit from a past season returning after a lengthy period of time (at least a year) where you're able to buy their cosmetics for regular candles while they're at home for 4 days.

Sc/season candles: orange candles that are strictly used to buy seasonal cosmetics from current season spirits. you obtain them from doing dailies during season, as well as getting them from candles scattered around the realm

Cr/candle run: refers to an activity where you go around collecting candles

wl/winged light: The little glowy guys that give you wings, increasing your stars

wl run/winged light run: refers to an activity where you go around collecting winged light

wedges/stars: the pattern on your cape that indicates how many winged lights you have

Owl hair: hair that has 2 tuffs that resemble an owl. like the season of rhythm ult hair or the season of performance ult hair

Ult/Ultimate reward: Cosmetics you receive from the season guide when you buy the season pass. Ults are the only cosmetics that don't return after a season ends.

Chibi fall: A glitch utilizing chibi mask. here's how to do it.

Oob/out of bounds: referring to going outside the wind walls and outside the borders. oobing is a big part of sky culture :)

Piggy rocket: a glitch utilizing the piggyback friendship emote, where when 2 players press the piggyback icon on each other at the same time they shoot in the sky, never seeming to stop.

Wind walls: invisible walls made of wind that prevent players from going outside the level to places they shouldn't be.

Krills: fan given name for the big scary dark creatures that roam in wasteland. As far as im aware, they're only ever strictly referred to as "dark dragons" in game and never as "krill" officially

Tgc/thatgamecompany: the developers behind sky.

sky: The Light Awaits: The beta of sky (before the current beta) where tgc allowed a handful of people on to test the game. thought to include this one as i was confused to what it was when i started playing :)

Elder names: again including these because i was also hella confused about them as a new player. but you might see some people use these names to refer to the elders, all of them being from concept art

Daleth: Isle elder

Ayin: Prarie elder

Teth: Forest elder

Sahmekh: Valley elders (sah being the spiky haired twin and mekh being the other one)

Tsadi: Wasteland elder

Lamed: Vault elder

Alef/Resh: Eden Elder/ The king

that last few are spoilers for the end game.

Ac/ ascended candles: candles you obtain after giving winged light to statues in eden. for every 4 statues you get 1 AC

Orbit: the place you end up in after you die in eden, where you go to be reborn.

Megabird: Giant star swirl thing you see at the end credits and hinted at throughout the game. called "megabird" in concept art and made out to be a god. more info

When did you start writing?

Sometime in 2019/2020, before covid started. Late start, I know lol

Are the genres/themes you enjoy reading different from the ones you write?

No, not really. I am a fantasy romance girlie (gender neutral) through and through. It's really a rarity for me to branch outside the fantasy genre at all.

Is there an author (or just a fellow writer!) you want to emulate, or one to whom you’re often compared?

I've not been writing long enough nor do I have a wide enough reader base to be compared to anyone lol. Emulate though 🤔 I don't know. I do know that certain writers leave an impression on me. Or I'll admire their style or how they did some bit of worldbuilding or torture. But when I'm writing, I'm not consciously trying to be like them or to even reference the stuff I was admiring to try and emulate it. That being said... I swear, C.L. Wilson, I was not trying to emulate you. I couldn't even approach the depth and mastery of your epic 5 book fantasy (this one). But I also can't deny the similarities that turned up in my book despite me not having read that series for multiple years before writing it 😂

Can you tell me a little about your writing space(s)?

My recliner in the living room or my (home) office. My office is the cooler option lol. I have a floor to ceiling built in bookshelf that my desk faces and a pretty ice blue rainbow backlit keyboard. However, I am having issues with both spaces currently. Nobody will leave me alone in the living room. And I'm in my office 8.5 hrs every goddamned day for work and really don't want to continue being in my office when I'm done. At least for a while anyway. It's smth I need to figure out so I can start writing again XD

What’s your most effective way to muster up some muse?

Uhhh. I wish I knew. Usually stuff will just hit me randomly and I have no control over when or where or why :')

Did the place(s) you grew up in influence the people and places you write about?

Most likely? In that it's just more work for me to write an environment that isn't close to the one I live in. But, it's fantasy, so. 🤷‍♀️

Are there any recurring themes in your writing, and if so, do they surprise you at all?

Outcast/loneliness, finding a place to belong/found family, being enough, finding love without stipulations/compromises ... *deadpan* I'm so super surprised. Oh, and the suffering. We gotta have some of that :)

Would you please tell me about your current favorite character? (Current WIP, past WIP, never used, etc.)

Right now, it's probably Carr from Hidden Depths. Carr is so much fun to write. There is smth very freeing about writing a char that really truly doesn't give a shit :)

Which of your characters would you be friends with in real life?

I could be friends with Alaia, but I'd never be able to keep up with her. Carr would probably have no patience for me lol. Kadin would amuse and annoy me and I could probably only tolerate him in small doses. Darian would intimidate me. Maybe Resh? Provided I could learn their version of sign language so I could talk with him.

Which characters would you dislike the most if you met them?

Any of the bad guys XD

Uh, they come up with themselves 😅

Do you notice any reoccurring themes/traits in your characters?

Most of them are neurodivergent as fuck, even the ones I wrote thinking I was NT XD

What’s your reason for writing?

Because I can! Because I started and I don't want to stop! (current dry spell notwithstanding XD) Because only in writing will I probably ever get the things I want 100%

Is there a specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating coming from your readers?

Literally any comment. Any indication you read and enjoyed what I wrote. However that may come across, I treasure it :D

How do you want to be thought of by those who read your work?

*side eyes this question* People would think of me? Why? I am not the story o.o

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Look, I am terrible at identifying my own strengths XD Maybe characterization? Someone told me I did a good job with that once upon a time <3

Frequently lol. I need to write more 😂 See above. Apparently I cheated and borrowed from this question. I've also been told I do a good job with descriptions, like in a worldbuilding way. Which is fascinating to me, bc I can't see shit in my mind. I just make shit up and hope it works 😅

How do you feel about your own writing?

Depends on when I'm reading it lol. Honestly though, I can tell I've improved a lot from when I first started a few years ago. Mostly I'm proud of it when I'm not being embarrassed by the thought of someone reading some of the more... interesting... things I've written 😅.

If you were the last person on earth and knew your writing would never be read by another human, would you still write?

Probably. Only through writing can I fully characterize and flesh out the daydreams. Plus, it's a freaking treat to sit down with your own book and read it and enjoy it.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely what you enjoy?

I'm very influenced. I want to make my friends happy! But I also will write what I enjoy in the parameters of my chosen genre. I just might incorporate things I otherwise might not of thought of. And if it ends up making me uncomfortable down the road, I can always remove it.

Happy 10th anniversary!!

Fnaf has turned 10 years old and I can't stop wondering how time went by so fast. I swear that for me the release of Fnaf 1 wasn't that far away but with this great celebration that has been this great week I have realized that it was.

I look back and realize how much this franchise has grown. 10 years ago it would have been unthinkable that we would have VR games, movies and books but we have them and it's incredible. However, I think that the most important thing about things is the path to follow and Fnaf has gone through a great path. There have been ups and downs, but there have also been very strong moments and this is like everything: the falls that you have don't matter but getting up from them.

Fnaf also has a huge fandom that is very dedicated to the franchise and that contributes its grain of sand as it can: some drawing, others theorizing, others making videos, writing stories… It's true that sometimes we can be a bit intense but leaving that aside it seems completely magical to me that such a large community strives day after day to enrich this franchise more and more.

Fnaf songs are something very special in my heart. I was thinking of making a list of the songs I like the most but Tumblr won't let me because there is a limit of links so instead I'll put the links of the singers that I highly recommend listening to and some of them are from my childhood with songs that bring me a lot of nostalgia:

Grand Moff Callum Resh was touring the Imperial Defense fleets. After the humiliating loss at Corellia, he’d raised concerns that the Republic might attempt an attack on key Imperial worlds. Darth Marr had taken his concerns very seriously, and requested that he tour the fleets immediately. He’d arrived on the flagship a mere hour ago, and was looking over the bridge when the Republic vessels emerged from Hyperspace.

The sheer numbers left even him in awe.

This is too soon! He thought desperately. Too soon!

What was the Republic trying? Had they been so emboldened by their recent wins that they were willing to try a frontal assault on the capital itself?

“All signals are being jammed,” Admiral Tobin sighed heavily.

“Wait for the enemy to engage, then send out messengers,” Callum replied. “They should be able to call for help. We need only survive a few hours. Sensors?”

“Fifty Valor-class heavy cruisers, two hundred and six Thranta-class ships. They’re lead by the Valiant itself. The ship in the lead is the… ‘Justice for Coruscant’? Don’t tell me they intend to sack Dromund Kaas!”

“They don’t have nearly enough ships for that,” Tobin said. “The best they can do is destroy half our home fleet.”

“That’s assuming more ships aren’t on the way,” Callum pointed out. It was unlikely. More ships would have ended the orbital battle sooner, allowing them to hit the ground before reinforcements arrived. But it was better to be prepared.

“Grand Moff, I Sense a powerful Jedi aboard the Justice,” Callum’s close friend Darth Xarion whispered. “And familiar. I think the Grand Master has come herself.”

“Make sure the couriers know this,” Resh ordered. “Perhaps that could convince Darth Malgus to come to our aid.”

She knew these were important for his career, especially if he wanted Partner, and he did, Ava had never seen Suresh work so hard for something in their entire two year relationship, everything else seemed to come so easily to him.

So she sucked it up, shoved down her complaints and insecurities, and plastered a big smile on her face every time he told her he had to leave. Which was so hard.

Because ever since she had moved in with Suresh at the beginning of their relationship, they had hardly spent a moment apart.

Luckily for her, the business trips weren’t usually long, couple of days at most. This was the longest trip yet, however, and Ava wasn’t sure how she would survive. It was a whole week. She could barely make it one or two days, she was completely miserable the whole time, imagine a week

She hadn’t wanted to get out of bed this morning, and go to work, not wanting to leave the comfort of his arms, knowing that when she got back home, he’d be gone, and she’d be stuck with limited Skype calls, and a cold empty bed. Ava wasn’t ashamed to admit the calls would probably be the highlight of her week until he came home.

She made sure he knew to call her every night too, or at least send her a text, depending on the time difference, on the first business trip. She wasn’t sure if she could go so long without talking to him. And the best part, he didn’t seem to put off by her clingy behavior as she suspected at first but instead readily agreed.

“I’ll tuck you in every night on the phone. I promise, sweet girl.”

Her girl friends tried to cheer her up at first but it was like nothing could. Not until Resh got home, safe and sound, not until he held her in his arms again.

He calmed her down, he was her peace, the best part of her life.

Ava was pretty sure he was her soulmate, and when he came home from this trip, she was ready. She had already bought a ring, had a plan and everything. She was ecstatic at the thought of spending the rest of her life with this sexy, smart as hell, completely out of her league man.

They just had to get through this damn week.

As she was putting on a pot of coffee, in a pair of Suresh’s sweats and a ratty old t-shirt that she wasn’t sure where she got it from, ready to just collapse on her couch and emerge herself into Netflix late into the night until she was ready to go to sleep, her phone rang, and with an excited squeal, before taking a deep breath, after all there was only one person it could be, she answered it with a big smile.

“Hey Resh,” She couldn’t control the big smile on her face, it was hurting her cheeks.

“Hey Av,” Suresh smiled. “Wait. Before you tell me anything, how was your day? Don’t leave anything out either. Cause I’ve been missing you by my side, pretty girl.”

Ava sighed, and resisted the urge to slightly roll her eyes, as today had been a terrible day, but she didn’t want to tell him that. So instead she settled on the plain bare minimum description of her day.

“It’s just been busy, I’m really tired.” She sighed. “I miss you already.”

“I know babe,” He said softly. “This week in Tokyo, it’s just one thing I gotta do. I’m never as far away as I seem.”

“I know,” Ava smiled slightly. “Soon we’ll be together and we can pick up right where we left off.”

“That’s right pretty girl,” Suresh said, the pet name still making Ava blush, even though it’s been two years. “And besides, you know girl I’ll be thinking about you worldwide. You’re are the one and only girl on my mind.”

Ava blushed and bit her lip, and lightly dropped her head, hiding behind her hair.

“Even… even with all the other girls in Tokyo?”

“They don’t compare,” Suresh laughs. “There ain’t no one better. You’re mine. You got my heart.”

Ava smiled.

“I love you Resh.”

“I love you more sweetheart,” Suresh smirked. “Now run off to bed, or you’ll oversleep and be late. I’ll talk to you tomorrow sweet girl.”

Ava blew Suresh a air kiss and hung up, feeling lighter than before. They would be alright.

Siscern the spirits!

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.

For the past two weeks we have examined lessons from the OT account of Israel's Exodus from Egypt in hope of avoiding the errors and attitudes of the children of Israel. This week we will draw connections between the Exodus and the prophecies in the book of Revelation.

One of the central figures in the Exodus, was the Egyptian ruler, Pharoah. The Hebrew spelling for "Pharoah" ("peh"-"resh"-"ayin"-"hey") literally describes who the man was. The outside letters ("peh" – "hey") spell the Hebrew word "Peh" which means "mouth" in English. The inner two letters ("resh"-"ayin") form the word "Rah", the name of the ancient Egyptian sun god. So, "Pharoah" in Hebrew, identified him as, "the mouth (or voice) of Rah".

But the word "rah" has another meaning in Hebrew, that is, "evil", "wicked", or "bad". Adding this meaning describes someone who speaks with "godlike" authority, yet is evil. We can see here a strong similarity to the "beast" of Revelation 13, as this "beast" was given a mouth to speak blasphemy against God; [Revelation 13:5].

The apostle John warned that antichrists are already here among us, and while we may be aware of the various manifestations of the antichrist spirit in our culture, and elsewhere, we also are expecting a final revelation of a "Man of Sin" known as "The Antichrist". His way is being prepared that the whole world may receive and worship him.

"The whole world", but not true believers in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ). Yet, not to be deceived as the Lord warned us, [Matthew 24:24] will require spiritual discernment. We must test the spirits, as the Apostle John instructed us: "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God…" [1 John 4:1]. Our spirits and our minds must be informed by the Word of God, according to simple and true gospel of Yeshua's death for sin, and resurrection from the dead.

Experiencing the likely death of your family and your own certain death all in the span of five minutes is a lot for anyone to take in, and Gali is certainly overwhelmed by it as our adventurers take stock of their situation. Four assassins, three now corpses piled in the doorway and one bound - and trying to work open a false tooth to access a suicide pill!

Nur and Roy prevent this and begin an interrogation while the others search the corpses. Little is discovered on either path, though Arlex exchanges her common shortswords for two of the ambushers' Dharaki-steel scimitars, the region being known for its metalwork.

Ultimately, the captive bites through his own tongue and chokes to death on blood and the gag Nur shoves in his mouth.

Gali's family house has been ransacked. The ambushers have been lying in wait for her. It is clear that the scrolls from the throne, the one of which will reveal the locations of its pieces, have been requisitioned by the Resh Khan. Beyond being an immediate problem, this means the empire will soon be on the trail of the relics as well - to assemble the throne for its own designs!

"You told us stories on our journey here," says Roy to Gali, "of your family. You mentioned that your sister, who was spearheading the translation efforts on the scroll, used to read under a willow tree by a pond. Could you take us there?"

"Perhaps your family has survived," adds Nur. "If there's anywhere they would have fled..."

Gali recovers some of her presence when given a purpose, though she does not hold to the hope Nur encourages her in. She heads off into the benighted city.

(Nur sets fire to the home and catches up as the others follow.)

Her path winds into poorer, denser districts, and slowly begins to descend into lower places, dotted with small community ponds, hardly larger than puddles, around which tiny parks have been assembled by the locals - small gardens, humble benches.

Gali guides the group to a pond larger than most, large enough to warrant a narrow dock for children to dive off of to swim. On this dock sits an ancient dragonborn, naked and puffing from a hookah pipe. Nur is unable to get them to share. The dragonborn has a cognitive disability, but as Zilybar and Arlex search the willow tree Roy and Nur are able to get a little bit of information from the local.

The dragonborn remembers Sarai, Gali's older sister - though their memory struggled to place her in time, thinking she was her mother back when Gali's family lived in the area. Sarai spent time by the willow tree, but only at night - which confuses the dragonborn, since didn't she come to read?

That's when Arlex uncovers a box buried shallowly under a knuckle of the willow's roots. Inside are two journals, one in the common language and the other in Gali's native dialect. They seem at first glance to be translations of the needed scroll!

The group immediately heads for the city wall. Here, they are stymied for a time by a locked sally-port with mechanisms too large for Zilybar's thieves' tools. Ultimately they take a small gate instead, Nur using their shadow to unlock the first door from within. Soon enough, the gang is outside the city and heading for their rendezvous with Trek and Trevayne and the UFO. They travel through the remainder of the night.

Gali accompanies them on board, but asks to be let down in a nearby city. She can't help but wonder if any of her family did escape the retribution of the Resh Khan, and seeing as that entity now possesses the ancient scrolls, she thinks she can keep an eye on the empire's progress towards assembling the scattered throne and keep our adventurers posted.

While on board, she is able to help the crew make some sense of the translated scroll. Evidently, five pieces of the throne had been carefully distributed around the continent: both armrests, parts of the backrest and the seat, and a crowning element. The best clues are parsed out as follows:

LEFT ARM: That upon which our lesser arm calmly rested was given to the armoured ones, who filled their barrels with clear water from our cellars, spending half their mercantile proceeds upon this simple substance for their dusty trek home. All living beings should find water [life] where they find sleep. So that our arm does not rest, I have done this.

RIGHT ARM: That upon which lay our great arm has passed along the coast in the swift ships to their powerful harbour, to make peace with the gods who killed our brother’s daughter. So that our arm may be upright in justice, I have done this.

BACK: That upon which we reclined in comfort has been sent far from us, to those who carry their [seat backs?] with them. They do not need what we send them; and so we send it. It shall be forgotten and unused, a punishment it deserves for its purpose apart from its use; for its use we should have had it destroyed. So that we may be uncomfortable in power, I have sent it away, and so that we may be uncomfortable out of power, I have not destroyed it.

CROWN: That which shaded our head has passed from our world into the bosom of another. It knew the sea, once, but we have sent it to taste its salt and understand its vastness so that it may know-as-truth. So that the sun which shines on all beings great and small does not forget our head, and so that we do not forget that which gives us life, I have done this.

SEAT: That which held our weight in stability has been sent to the remnant, which has shrivelled as a consequence of our hubris. It will be sustained, which we do not imagine as anything but a punishment, for we know ourselves. It has suffered but the cracking of its skin, and by preserving it, we know we condemn it to feel the dissolution of its being. But it will survive. We cannot know if that is better, but we can make no other choice. So that we understand that nothing is stable and so that we remember that existence is suffering, I have done this.

Gali's knowledge of Dharak helps our adventurers put some initial pieces together, but they are unable to get any clear cut directions. Closest to specificity is the clue for the left armrest: it is likely somewhere in the vast steppes to the east, known as the Dead Lands. Folklore from Dharak and the steppes (Nur is from there) tells of a sort of armadillo-people. Steppes superstition tells that these spirits are connected to oases.

After parting from Gali, the UFO flies to the western border of the realm, where Arlex knows to find an outpost of her order, there to ask after further clues.

Ah what the heck I was asked about this so I'm posting it

King

So when it comes to Sky headcanons I like to stay very close to the concept art and all. And I'd just like to mention that although I prefer to stay close to canon, I am also a fan of personal headcanons. Basically I think this is the timeline:

The Prince asks Megabird for flame (this is allegedly what the mural around the Vault office portal depicts)

Then there is some stuff I don't understand either… Some sources say the Elders fell from the Sky, some say that they made their home in the clouds on purpose. So yeah… Apparently the Elders were something like gods to the ancient civilization. But that is the part that still confuses me because we get different information.. Then the stuff from the timeline happens:

they find darkstone

the Prince gets crowned King (so because of the concept art I very much believe they're the same person!)

the Ancestors turn their back to Megabird

the creature wars happen

the explosion corrupts the King's crown (made of darkstone) and traps him.

To elaborate on that last part a bit: I think according to the timeline and some other concept arts, the Elders made that giant Ark to go to Eden (the holy site) because the creatures would be reluctant to follow but a creature flew into the Ark to make it explode and then the giant power diamond on board exploded and created the Storm. So when I was a new player I really expected to see the King in Eden… I mean there were attempts to add that, weren't there? There is this 3d model that was found… (image at bottom) and the kid we hug to get to Orbit allegedly has an audio file named king-hug or prince-hug or something so that suggests that the King really is still trapped in Eden.

Now to some more personal headcanons: I think the King isn't purposefully evil: just corrupted by that darkstone crown. TGC said he can't be saved anymore but I imagine that IF it was possible, he'd probably feel bad for what happened.

Also I kinda like the name Alef more but the fandom mostly calls him Resh and I'm ok with that too so I'll call him both.

Since it is implied by the devs that the darkness is natural, does that mean that megabird is evil for trying to drive it out? Alternatively if Megabird is good, what if alef wasn’t completely a being of light, but also of darkness?

Eh, good and evil are a bit too subjective to apply to natural forces like this. If anything, we could argue that both sides are simultaneously good and evil, depending on perspective. For example, poison ivy is natural, but you don't want it touching you, because it'll hurt you if it does. From that perspective, poison ivy could be called evil. Does that make it inherently so? Not necessarily

Near as I can tell, darkness is like that for light. Is it natural? Yes. Is it "good" from the perspective of light? No, because darkness is the antithesis of light and, as we see in-game, is actively harmful to those connected to light. But that does not make it inherently evil, either

It's worth noting that, within the Sky Kingdom, very few things of pure darkness exist, as opposed to the vast abundance of light entities. For darkness, we have only the dark plants (which could themselves be corrupted variants of a "neutral" species), dark matter (arguably the only "pure" form of darkness we ever see), and the dark water (which seems to be polluted by a sludge-like substance). For light, we have all the kinds of light creatures, the spirits and elders (and Megabird), the light clouds and geysers, and our sky kids. Everything else is what I consider "neutral," as in, it possesses qualities of neither side. The peaceful crabs in Sanctuary, as well as the koi seen at Home and up by the Prairie temple, would be considered neutral entities

Darkness has corrupted some entities: the vast majority of crabs, as well as the light dragons, but light dragons were, as the name states, light creatures at one point. Could there have been "true" dark creatures at some point? Possibly! That may very well be what the massive skeletons in the Golden Wasteland were. There are also the strange creatures we see in the Switch trailer, which are almost like crabs, but not quite. These actively flee from the light released by the spirit's lantern, and we haven't seen a trace of them since

It's possible that the majority of dark creatures/darkness in general are found within the depths of the ocean. Perhaps the waters rose after the Fall and consumed much of the Sky Kingdom's lower landmasses... or perhaps they were pulled under by something. It would make sense: light, as it is connected to heat/flame, rises upwards to the heavens, and darkness, in the form of crabs, dark plants, and the gaze of dark dragons, is focused on the ground, moving downwards

There's also the parallel to the idea that light is love and connection, and therefore emotionally (and literally) uplifting, while darkness is isolation and a lack of love, and therefore keeps you low, both emotionally and literally (can't fly when you have no light, after all). It would explain the aggressiveness of corrupted creatures: being lonely, especially for long periods of time, leads to a great deal of stress and puts you in a long-term "fight or flight" status. In the case of crabs, they recognize that our calls can flip them over (and possibly see us as predators, given the roasting spit in Wasteland and Pleaful Parent's memories), and so preemptively strike (the "fight" aspect); in the case of those creatures from the trailer, they run away from the light (the "flight" aspect)

Similarly, the isolation of darkness seems to be tied to sound and hearing, as well. Our calls, as well as those of spirits and light creatures, have audial and visual components. When the bubbles of light come into contact with other light entities, they react (sky kids can be recharged, and light creatures will call back). But dark dragons don't react to these sound bubbles, despite being (former) light creatures. They don't react to fireworks, instruments, the cries of spirits or crabs, or even other dark dragons. As far as we can tell, they're completely deaf. This may be both a side effect and contributing factor to why they're now dark creatures—their deafness prevents them from connecting to others, which strengthens darkness' hold over them, thus creating an inescapable cycle

As for whether Resh is/was a being of both light and dark, it's hard to say. Light is almost definitely present. Darkness? I'd argue that no, not at first. If anything, the darkness came later in life, but it's hard to say exactly when
