President Biden and Vice-President Harris announced new actions to curb gun violence at the one year anniversary of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. The Office is the first ever White House office to deal with the issue of guns and has been overseen by the Vice-President. President Biden signed a new Executive Order aimed at combatting the emerging threat of machinegun conversion devices. These devices allow the conversion of semi-automatic firearms to a rate of fire that can match military machineguns, up to 20 bullets in one second. The EO also targets the threat of 3-D printed guns. The EO also addresses active schooler drills at schools. While almost every school conducts them there is little uniformity in how they are carried out, and no consensus on the most effective version of a drill. President Biden's EO directions the development of a research based active shooter drills, which maximize both student physical and mental safety.

President Biden celebrated the one year anniversary of the American Climate Corps and announced new Climate Corp programs. The Climate Corps has seen 15,000 young people connected to well paid jobs in clean energy and climate resilience jobs across America. The EPA and AmeriCorps announced a new Environmental Justice Climate Corps program which will connect 250 American Climate Corps members with local communities and over the next 3 help them achieve environmental justice projects. In addition HUD announced it will be the 8th federal agency to partner with the Climate Corp, opening the door to its involvement in Housing. Since its launch the American Climate Corp has inspired 14 states to launch their own state level version of the program, most recently just this week the New Jersey Climate Corps.

The Biden-Harris Administration announced that 4.2 million small business owners and self-employed people get their health insurance through the ACA marketplace. Up from 1.4 million ten years ago when President Obama and then Vice-President Biden rolled out the marketplaces. The self-employed are 3 times as likely as other Americans to use the marketplaces for their insurance, one out of every 5 getting coverage there. The ACA passed by President Obama, defended and expanded by President Biden, has freed millions of Americans to start their own businesses without fear of losing health coverage for them and their families.

The Departments of Transportation and Labor pressed freight railroad companies to close the gap and offer paid sick time to all their employees. Since 2022 under President Biden's leadership the number of Class I freight railroad employees who have access to paid sick days increased from 5% to 90%. Now the Biden-Harris Administration is pushing to finish the job and get coverage to the last 10%.

The EPA announced $965 million to help school districts buy clean energy buses. This comes on top of the 3 billion the EPA has already spent to bring clean energy buses to America's schools. So far the EPA has helped replace 8,700 school buses, across 1,300 school districts in all 50 states, DC, tribal nations, and US Territories. 95% of these buses are zero-emission, battery-electric. The clean bus program is responsible for over 2/3rds of the electric school buses on the road today.

The Biden-Harris Administration took another step forward in its historic efforts to protect the Colorado River System by signing 5 water conservation agreements with local water authorities in California and Arizona. HHS announced $1.5 billion to help combat opioid addiction and prevent opioid overdose deaths. The money will support state and tribal governments and help pay for mobile clinics, naloxone kits, and treatment centers. This comes as nationwide overdose rates drop for the first time since 2020, thanks to strong investment in harm reduction efforts by the Biden-Harris team.

The Department of Agriculture announced it'll spend $466.5 million in food assistance and development worldwide this year. Through its McGovern-Dole Program, the United States is the largest donor to global school feeding programs. The USDA will help feed 1.2 million children in Angola, Bangladesh, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Laos, Malawi and Rwanda. The 14-year-old suspect in the fatal mass shooting at a Winder, Georgia, high school has been identified as Colt Gray, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey said at an afternoon news conference. The suspect is a student at Apalachee High School who will be charged with murder and will be handled as an adult as he moves through the criminal justice system, Hosey and Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith added.

Two teachers and two students were killed, Hosey said. Nine other victims were taken to hospitals, according to the officials. The gunfire sent students and faculty desperately scurrying for cover as schools across the county went into lockdown and parents scrambled for information. Wednesday’s shooting is the deadliest of the 45 school shootings so far this calendar year, according to a CNN analysis. It is one of 11 school shootings with four or more deaths since 2008 when CNN first started tracking school shootings. Authorities said the first report of an active shooter came in at 10:20 a.m. ET. A school resource deputy assigned to Apalachee High confronted the shooter, who got on the ground and was taken into custody, Smith told reporters.

The witness sat next to the suspected shooter

Lyela Sayarath, 16, told CNN the alleged shooter sat next to her in an algebra class. She said he left class early, around 9:45 a.m., but didn’t take a bathroom pass. She thought he might be skipping. Toward the end of class, someone told her teacher over the loudspeaker to check their email, she said. Shortly after, Gray was outside the classroom door, which was shut, Lyela said. Another student who went to the door jumped backward when she saw he had a gun. "I guess he saw we weren’t gonna let him in,” Lyela said. “And I guess the classroom next to me, their door was open, so I think he just started shooting in the classroom.” At first, she told CNN she heard a burst of gunfire – maybe 10 to 15 shots – and then they were “kind of just Students dropped to the floor and crawled to the corner, Lyela said.

“It seemed like this wasn’t something he planned too well or that he wasn’t really strong with the gun because he didn’t try and shoot our door. Once he saw he couldn’t get in our room, he just went to the next one.”

Student texted mom: ‘I’m scared’

Erin Clark was at work Wednesday morning when she got a series of text messages from her son, a senior, who was attending class at Apalachee High School.

“School shooting.”

“I’m scared,” he wrote.

“pls” “I’m not joking,”

“I’m leaving work,” Clark replied. “I love you,” her son, Ethan Haney, 17, wrote back.

“Love you too baby,” his mom texted before racing to the high school.

Clark told CNN her son heard eight or nine gunshots before he closed his classroom door and, with the help of another classmate, moved chairs and tables to block the door.

Clark told CNN she was “absolutely terrified” when she read her son’s messages. “Just kept praying he’d stay safe,” she said.

Schools in the county went into lockdown

As emergency responders came from several counties, video from outside the school showed at least five ambulances and a large law enforcement presence at the campus, and at least one medical helicopter could be seen airlifting a patient from the scene. At the football field, where authorities had students gather, people lowered their heads and formed a prayer circle in the end zone, standing on the letters for “Apalachee” as their classmates milled around the field. All schools in the Barrow County School System, which includes the high school, were placed on lockdown and police were sent out of an abundance of caution to all district high schools, according to the sources, but there are no reports of secondary incidents or scenes. Some of the critically injured were removed by helicopter, and additional helicopters are on standby.

Atlanta Trauma Center and other hospitals take patients

Grady Health System – a Level 1 trauma center in Atlanta, about an hour's drive from Winder – received one gunshot wound victim from the incident who was transported by helicopter, a hospital spokesperson told CNN. Earlier, a source with knowledge of the situation who is not authorized to speak to the media, told CNN Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in North Georgia received two victims from the shooting. The source said one victim was an adult with a gunshot wound to the stomach and was in surgery, and another was a minor with unspecified injuries. Three gunshot victims were taken to nearby hospitals following the shooting, according to a hospital official, and five other patients reported to the hospital with symptoms related to a panic attack. Two gunshot victims were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Barrow with non-life-threatening injuries, Northeast Georgia Health System spokesperson Layne Saliba said. Four other patients came with symptoms related to panic attacks.

Georgia governor sends prayers and says he can send resources

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has directed all available state resources to assist at the scene, he said in a statement on social media. The governor urged “all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state.” President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident, the White House said, offering federal support to state and local officials.

“His administration will continue coordinating with federal, state, and local officials as we receive more information,” the White House said in a statement. Attorney General Merrick Garland similarly said the US Department of Justice “stands ready” to support the community after the shooting. “We are still gathering information, but the FBI and ATF are on the scene, working with state, local, and federal partners,” Garland said at a meeting of the Justice Department’s Election Threats Task Force.

Winder had a population of about 18,338 as of the 2020 census, according to the US Census Bureau The Barrow County School System is the 24th largest school district in the state, per the district’s website. It serves about 15,340 students, 1,932 of whom are enrolled at Apalachee High School.

How to utilise the holidays/term breaks well for a successful academic year

Do you need to catch up on revising the things you didn't pay attention to in class or maybe you just need to put in some extra effort to up a grade? I'm going to walk you through my personal tips for revising efficiently throughout the holidays and term breaks without disrupting your freedom away from learning too much.

I. The Defining Phase

First, you need to figure out what you need to study the most. You should figure this out by knowing what subjects you need to spend a little bit more time on than others and revising what you already know well from time to time to keep the information fresh. Make sure you don't spend too much time on the topics you know very well, I know it's tempting and easier but you are not learning anything new or prioritising the subjects you do need to work on. The more you practice in the difficult areas, the more easier they will become too.

II. The Planning Phase

Now you know what you need to revise/study. You can make a schedule around your free days. Obviously don't force yourself to study or revise when you are enjoying your holidays off from education, so you need to work out days that you can dedicate to your learning.

To make things easier for yourself, gather the resources you need (physical or online) and make them easily available to you to get rid of the faf when starting to revise. If you know you may need extra help, utilise the online teachers and AI chatbots.

-> Don't cheat with them, these are helpful ways to check your answers and to understand the questions that you wouldn't have gotten with step-by-step help

Make sure to schedule days that you can rest and enjoy your break from school. Please don't overload yourself with lots of study days because you will burn out and miss out on your holiday. Instead make a doable schedule based on your lifestyle and what's going on in your week, dedicating just 20-60 mins is enough for a day to get all the information in your head.

Allow yourself to have breaks in between study sessions so you can reset your brain before continuing to learn.

for example: for every 1hr 30 mins studying, take a 15 min break for every 1hr studying, take a 10 min break for every 30 minutes studying, take a 5 min break [every 30 mins = 5 mins break]

if you do anything below or above the times I gave, then round it up to the nearest 30 minutes and calculate the break you should have.

III. Avoiding procrastination

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS !!

Put your study equipment on your desk, organised and ready for you to begin your session. Keep all distractions you know will interrupt your studying away from your space. Put your phone away and keep it away from your desk, turn it on do not disturb until you have finished your session. Make sure your space is clean and organised, clear space = clear mind.

Play some ambient music in the background if you need something to break the silence. Preferably choose a background sound with no lyrics or a beat to distract you. The music will keep you focused if you need it.

Motivation often comes in short bursts and fades away, leaving you less determined to pursue your goals. Relying solely on motivation means you only act when you feel like it. Sometimes, we need to do things that benefit us even when we don’t feel like it. That's why motivation isn’t reliable in the long run. Instead, we need to develop discipline. Discipline helps you push through when you don’t feel like doing something, focusing on the long-term benefits rather than your current feelings. Doing something over and over again builds a habit, this will make it easier to get up and get it done without a fuss.

All caste headcannons from me : )

I think the system of morality the swords operate under is confusing at best and subject to wild fluctuation at worst. They're designed to fight magical creatures that fall under the *magical* category of evil not any human or moral one. In my head magical good and evil is often different than human good and evil.

But the blades need a wielder and that wielder can influence the blades (just as the blades influence the wielder in turn). In order to fully connect to the blades you need to understand them or at least be willing to listen.

So.

Jason takes a few philosphy classes or at least starts reading theroy. In my head developing a more complex sense of morality and occasionally brushing up on stuff strengthens the connection he has with the blades and let's him use them for longer without draining his soul. (It would also lead to some fun situations where he can go over some red hood plans and determine if they're really helping useing theroy and principles of harm reduction cuz I'm a sucker for analyzing harm reduction from the context of Jason and Red Hood) it also has the added benefit of making any fights he has about morals way funnier. "You can't do that because it's wrong" and the response is a 10 page essay on moral objectisum complet with cited sources and also a note that says "fuck you"

Idk i just think it'd be really fun to analyze morality though the lense of both personal choice AND magical choice and what it means when those two factors influence eachoter. I just really wanna use the all blades as a vehicle for commentary ig.

Also! The all caste were like... ancient monks who had some foresight, in my head they 100% saw some of this stuff comming and one day Jason will be called back to like... restart them or something. Idk it's an excuse for my "he gets less human over time" headcannon to connect to "i want the all caste back plz" i think it'd be prity cool if Jason was chosen both because of who he is and bc of his connection to gotham and a lesser extent the bats. Gotham is like so super cursed and getting someone who can maybe harness some of that cursed energy in as the chosen one is probably a nice power boost. Plus the bats are free alies which will be super useful if/when Jason ever decides to restart the all caste (in my head there's resources aviable for this plan, bc no way they're just gone gone forever)

I also like the idea that Jason has blood magic and soul magic and that thease two magics are very volatile and dangerous.

I actually fully agree with this, and it's why I think the wielder is someone who has to be properly vetted. It's similar to Thor's hammer; you need to fit really obscure and specific criteria to use it, but when you fit them, you connect really well to it. Anyone can use the blades, but only Jason can properly wield them

Jason is canonically a freakishly fast learner, so I do see him going through both human libraries and the All Caste archives, since you can't be an ancient order of warrior monks without one, and that would really influence his plans and general outlook on everything

I tried to bring this up in my seminary class and didn't get a great answer, but I feel like there's a weird relationship between missionaries and colonialism that's never been adequately addressed for me. I understand that people just want to bring the knowledge of the church to people but it usually feels really dismissive of the cultures already there.

Colonialism is about exerting control for the benefit of the colonizers. This can be in the form of settlers moving in and pushing out the existing population. Colonialism could be extracting resources and labor for the benefit & enrichment of the colonizing power.

That doesn't sound like what LDS missionaries do, so why would people think there's a relationship between missionaries and colonialism?

The "Three C's" of colonialism refers to Christianization, Commerce, and Civilization, which were justifications and strategies used by European countries to legitimize their colonial expansion and domination. Because religion was used as a way to justify colonization and to integrate the existing population into the colonizer's cultural control, there remains a link between the missionary work and colonization. Sending missionaries from wealthy, advanced nations, like the United States, to places which are less developed, like the Philippines, looks like colonialism where we are trying to save people of color from their ignorance and get them to adopt our religion and culture.

And let's not forget that the LDS Church has its own history of colonialism. Mormon pioneers settled in Utah where native tribes had been living for thousands of years. We took their land for our benefit. Brigham Young tried to replace the native people's understanding of themselves and their culture by preaching that the Book of Mormon contained their history and if they would convert they would become "white and delightsome," (in other words, white people were the norm and native people had to be changed to be like the whites). Even in recent history, the LDS Church operated the Indian Placement Program from 1954-1996, which had native people send their children to live in the homes of LDS members during the school year so the children could attend the nearby public schools. The program's goal was to "introduce Native Americans to mainstream values and social roles without demanding the abandonment of the old for the new" (Encyclopedia of Mormonism), in other words, to have the children adopt LDS & American values.

Is what LDS missionaries do today colonialism? There are some aspects which could be seen that way as we introduce people into an organization with a power structure which is flawed (see the restrictions placed on women & queer people or how English proficiency helps men advance in leadership) and is based on the American model of corporate governance. The LDS Church carries Western culture with it, such as in the hymns we have people sing all around the world and the instruments we allow to be played in our worship services. American missionaries often carry their culture into other parts of the world, like teaching members in other places about Halloween. We also ask converts to send 10% of their income to the Church, and that could be seen as extracting wealth from them.

While there are echoes of colonialism in our missionary efforts, it's hard to say that simply sharing our belief system with others in the hopes they'll join our faith qualifies as colonialism. Meet (Negaverse) Della Duck! Mother of Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck, and twin sister to Donald Duck!

She’s a pilot that went to school for it, she’s skilled, professional, and she even flew for the old adventure group Scrooge had, going around all over the world when she was younger.

She was fully expecting and ready to take on a mother role, knowing her kids would hatch soon, but Scrooge had forgotten some timeline details and had the Board schedule her for a new Rocket test from R&D, she obliged, only seeing it as a quick job. But she gets stuck in a meteor storm, and got stranded on the moon for 10 years.

She’s not reckless but she is bold, daring and proud, and wasn’t able to step back from a job or challenge in time to change her fate. She had put her job first and deeply regrets listening to Scrooge, not thinking it though fully or reasoning with him.

In the moon crash, she’s forced to amputate her leg, thanks to her time in the woodchucks she does this successfully, making herself a robotic leg out of broken ship parts, showing her resourcefulness and strong will.

Della is book smart, or relies on her memory for survival and history facts. She’s fascinated by culture and lost civilizations, making her perfect for Scrooges old adventure group. She’s academically proficient and excelled at her classes, even getting into multiple sports over the years, she has a range of skills and means business.

Della is more cautious of Scrooge when she comes back, and isn’t fully trusting him after the initial moon incident, eventually she listens but grumbles to herself about it. Due to losing trust in others, she’s developed backup plans and is able to think on her feet when a situation gets heated. She’s also more prone to calling out Scrooge for his inactions. (Eventually she starts making amends with Scrooge, seeing how he’s doing now)

She’s resentful to people who wronged her, but she’s full of love and support for her family more than anything, she’s beloved by others, and is willing to help them when they need it.

Della was determined to get back to earth to see her kids, and tell off Scrooge, no mater how long or how much it took.

When Della took flight into space, Scrooge still had some contact, Scrooge tried to coach her through it but the forces were too much for either of them to handle, cutting off contact for the next 10 years until she came back.

She’s careful, determined, a skilled pilot, resourceful, family oriented, tame and professional, a little too stubborn but she’s not an idiot (but she has a bit of temper)

She felt like she was betrayed, even though she willingly went on the mission.

Dellas flaw is her work ethic, she’s way too focused for her own good, blinding her from taking breaks or making time for family

With losing her trust with Scrooge, she has to gain it back, especially in terms with her family, friends and sons

Well, the release of Bestiale is just around the corner, and as a person who was waiting for it and was very upset with how this project looks now, I am going to express my opinion. I apologize in advance if my language is rude - I only have complaints and do not want to offend anyone. This world is inhabited by people of many races/classes, which are revealed to varying degrees. Despite how Tot has recently abandoned the old canon and is having fun with fanfiction, I still suggest using marks that will indicate the degree to which we know about a particular race. (Important: the table is quite subjective and was compiled by me as an average consumer of content, so it does not claim to be absolutely accurate. I only write what I see.)

Even though we don't know much about Iop culture, they're literally everywhere because for some unknown reason Ankama loves them almost as much as Elia(o)tropes (Eliotropes were a waste of time and resources - are you ready for this conversation or not). Almost every project in the krosmoz universe has at least one Iop, and they look REALLY bad. I'll explain why I don't like them later, but first I'll give you a list of characters to back it up.

🥊2) Iop Characters;

When I say Iops are literally everywhere, I mean it. I want to point out that I haven't read the Dofus manga or the Ogrest manga, so I might be wrong in some places. I apologize in advance. Here's a list of Iop characters and roles, I think that's it:

1) Tristepin. Wakfu series (main characters), Wakfu manga (main characters), OVA (main characters), Waven (main characters). Also appears in other works as Iop God;

2) Goultard. Wakfu series (minor character), Waven (minor character), OVA (background character), Dofus Magna ( main characters), the protagonist of his own short film;

3) Eleley. Wakfu series (minor character), OVA (minor character), Wakfu manga (minor character), Waven* series (main character);

4) Pin. Wakfu series (minor character), Waven* series (main character);

5) Iop God . Wakfu (past incarnation of one of the main characters), Ogrest manga (minor character), Savara* (minor character or npc);

6) Khan. Dofus: Julith (minor character), Dofus mmorpg (npc), Welsh and Shedar* (minor character);

7) Bist. Lance Dur series (minor character), Lance Dur webtoon (minor character);

As you can see, there are quite a few iops in important roles.

❗3) What's the problem

In short: iops are CtrlC+CtrlV dummies that the creators of the universe play with instead of developing the universe (the same goes for eliatropes/eliopropes).

With rare exceptions, all iops look something like this: proud, very strong, sometimes not particularly smart, fight well and love to do it. Of course, each of them will have some individual traits, but they all remain a set of the above qualities (with rare exceptions). I won't even talk about the design - it's decadence and boredom (especially hairstyles - most often they are LITERALLY THE SAME).

Iops, as a rule, are needed to please the viewer with their image and it works, but apart from their charm (I still don't understand why they are loved so much) they bring nothing else. No lore, no interesting information, which will tell us something new (besides the character itmself). I can forgive mistakes in creating a story, but I don't forgive monotony.

And it would seem: if so, then you can create a character of another race and start revealing other peoples. Give content for fans of another class that are part of your own audience too. Even if it was never the main goal of the show, it would be cool to have some variety even in small amounts, right? NO! Every time we get a red-headed goof created for crowd entertainment. What about the other races? I'm not interested in watching iops - I want to understand what the world of twelve is, we barely know anything about it! Have you even seen the official map of the world of twelve? There are a HUGE number of regions and places that you can ONLY learn something about if you play Dofus/Wakfu/ect.! Moreover, Ankama still creates new classes, but they do not get enough attention, only the basic minimum. What about the old ones? How much, for example, do we know about srams or zobals?

This universe has been around for ten years for sure, and I want to know more about it, about the others, not read another Tot fanfic about some silly-billy! Ankama. What. Is. This.

And don't get me wrong - I don't hate Iops, I actually like some of them. But they get TOO MUCH attention and because they bring so little new to the table, it's very hard to take Iops seriously. You just see wasted potential and every new character starts to irritate you.

Okay, I'm starting to get too angry, so let's move on. Sorry for the bombing.

🌊4) Bestiale;

Ugh, there will be a lot of complaining here too.

In fact, I didn't have any strong complaints about Karn's character until he was announced as the second main character. I don't mind him having having lots of fans' attention at all - let people enjoy what they like. But the creators of the show already give preference to him - he got the status of the main character, he is in the trailers, has some kind of biography, appears in the game and it is him, and not Yrehn, that we see in the videos advertising the series. Although there was no need for this. At all.

The main character herself appears only in the trailer and apart from the notes from the designer, we know nothing about her at all (well, she also has a special connection with Ilanthe, you could guess about it from the trailer, thanks). Are you serious?? I was expecting a cartoon about this girl saving her friend from a poacher, but it looks like they're making a cartoon about a POACHER guy who gets in the way of a teenage girl. I don't have any expectations for Bestiale, but as an osamodas fan, I was really looking forward to this series specifically because of Yrehn - and now she's being overshadowed by someone who used to only appear in an early poster. And I don't care if he's cool, a good father(yes, fatherhood doesn't mean anything, it's a cheap trick), and can cook - now I'm not going to like this character, even though his type's one of my favorites.

It would have been so much cooler if he stayed a villain (hello, i am a villain enjoyer) - but apparently Ankama lacks guts i guess. Plus, he would have been fresher and more interesting if he was a sacrier or a sram instead of the typical Iop. Remember the sacrier fight scenes? I think those two would have had so much more potential!

Anyway, I just hope Yrehn's arc doesn't get overshadowed. I'm really upset

And as a conclusion, I will add that this year Tot declared the year of Osamodas, deciding to start with a series where Yrehn (osamodas) shares the place of the main character with an iop, who is given so much attention that there is no budget left for the animation of the FIRST PROTAGONIST's tail. Oh, and there is also a whole game about iops coming out, where the main character is Karn's daughter, also an iop, obviously (but she also could be any other race since she's adopted) .Perhaps Yrehn will appear there. thank you veery much.. warrior cats related? ursiday, lupiine, thunderc1an/rebe adventures, movdotmov, assignedk9, bunnyfarm and many popular warrior cats artists on youtube come to mind. otherwise, a lot of what I take inspiration from is manga. i didn't really learn it from anywhere persay, just practice. if you look at some of my first ever wc designs, i could definitely do better now LOL. i'd love to give you more specific tips but literally how i learn is just draw cats. i drew almost all day every day in early covid days when i wasn't in school, and did like, 10 designs a day. ( i wouldn't recommend doing this though, cause now i have Wrist Pain <3 ). so my best advice to you is just draw cats. i never had a problem with seeing my art as 'bad' because in the beginning i was horrendously egotistical and though whatever my current artstyle at the time was was absolutely peak, but i know a lot of people do, so you really need to push yourself forward. even if you see problems in your art now, you have to keep drawing to rectify them. you could study a hundred art books and go to dozens of dozens of classes and look at tons of tutorials but if you don't actually DRAW anything, you aren't going to learn. if you're experiencing artblock, draw something you like which is easy for you (i usually draw my fursona). etc. the minimal amount of tips i CAN give you is to trace. not in like a post-it-online-claiming-its-yours sort of way, but find an artist you like and trace their pieces. specifically, trace the things you like from them, like the paws or face. i do this not often i would say but enough it's able to help me, plus it usually gets me out of ruts where i don't like certain parts of my art. also, real pictures. i'd say this helps more for things like understanding cat anatomy vs how to stylize it. for resources, i'll give you this and this. i can also say, if you're not liking your art, it might be the brush you're using. change it up, i have TONS downloaded and will spend literally hours finding and editing one to what i like. also, get rid of any idea of an "artstyle". you may develop something concrete eventually, but don't stick yourself to a box in the beginning. also, KEEP EVERYTHING. going back and looking at my old designs and art is extremely entertaining, and it can show you how much you're improved over time. tldr: just draw. it's how i learned. a couple other things, but 90% of it is literally just keep drawing.

Sleepers Were Never Meant For Labor

Sleepers can't be THAT efficient. Not more efficient than regular robots on factory lines or more advanced futuristic drones. They're practically a money pit, if you ask me. 1 out of 10 Sleepers escape...lets say every year. Given the intuited size of Essen-Arp and all its locations (factories, mining colonies, refineries) where Sleepers are working...let's be charitable and say that two-hundred Sleepers escape every year. These Sleepers would also take Stabilizer with them, or find a way to source it on the outside, so that's stock of Stabilizer going missing and out of Essen-Arp's hands. Not only that, but then they have to spend more resources sending Hunters down after them. Essen-Arp created a whole new class of Sleepers just to perform as Hunters and nothing else.

Now consider this - during Sabine's questline in Citizen Sleeper 1, what do we learn what Essen-Arp is most known for? Bionics. Bio-synthetic medicines, and other such augments. That's what they copyright, that's what they produce and develop, that's their main export, THEIR market share. Why would they get into the business of Slavery all the sudden with a fledgling android program in the form of Sleepers?

I think Essen-Arp has a larger end goal here, they're working toward a...Final Solution, if you'll pardon the comparison.

Are you perhaps familiar with Warhammer 40k's Adeptus Mechanicus? The "Machine Cult" as they're often referred to. You don't need to know the specifics, but they're fanatical transhumanists who aspire to the "purity of the blessed Machine" they worship a Machine God, and its prophet called the "Omnissiah". They forsake their flesh with reckless abandon, replacing parts with superior augmetics.

Now consider: Sleeper frames are objectively superior to human bodies. Even with their "planned obsolescence" and constant degradation. That's just a prototype, it'll be patched out in later models. Sleeper frames can go days without eating a damn thing. They don't need to breathe. They're immune to disease. They need no water. They produce no waste. They can work in extreme and hostile environments that humans would need extensive protection to even go into. They can interface with machines in precise and unique ways. Multiple characters remark throughout both games that Sleepers can work longer and harder than humans with a more consistent output, and these are just Sleepers who have been on the run. Who have been running on fumes and spite for their creators; Imagine what a Sleeper in its prime could accomplish...

Sleeper technology is in its infancy. Unable to be fully exploited for its full worth. All the Sleepers that exist in the setting today are prototypes, test subjects, control units. There are legions of Essen-Arp scientists and engineers observing them, testing them constantly logging data, tweaking formulas, adjusting designs for the eventual Perfect Sleeper so that only the most wealthy and powerful could upload their minds into, and become Gods in the Machine

im takng this studio production class where one of the assignments was to fully develop a studio show (picture like quiz shows, news shows, etc. live television content) for production. wanna know what my dumbass submitted as a literal last resort because i had no original ideas?

a literal rehash of May I Have A Word. different name. different words (because girl ain't no one in my grade getting tripped up over the word perspire) and the works. no one ever knew. i probably commited plagiarism over the most niche game show that comes inbetween wordgirl episodes. hell. where i live (before i started pirating WG) i'd never seen May I Have A Word segments in my life.

no one suspected. no one said a thing. because who the fuck is gonna refer back to the word show segment that lasts one minute each? as far as they were concerned, it was an original idea, albeit odd in nature.

the production went smoothly ish, if yall were wondering. i didn't know when we'd start producing my show and came so unprepared that i was nervous the whole way down. i had to make cue cards out of the back of one of our rundowns. i was pacing back and forth. we had a bunch of trip ups. the graphics i had planned out wouldn't export to the (very old and odd) software that we use for graphics. so like. totall zoinked out, but it worked somehow! it was my first time manning a show and also playing as the host. so like 8/10 for effort.

yeah so that's how May I Have A Word saved me in a class. the entire damn show. i had to alter a few things though:

3 rounds bc the show is like 7 minutes long

im too unprepared to make videos for every fucking definition (look guys i finished the entire assignment in one day after procrastinating. bare w/ me) so i skiped that and replaced it with example sentences.

doing retakes is weird in these shows bc you kinda already know the answer....

obviously as mentioned before i had to look up harder words for the challenge to be hard. so yeah learnt new words too

2 contestants instead of 3 for reasons relating to classroom resources

the prize was a tim hortons giftcard because thats all i had in my pocket (literally) and i was once again unprepped for the shooting day

so uh yeah thanks autism, turns out liking the word show was good for smth
