Okay I'm writing a very DID coded scene in the story

And I came up with a good analogy for subsystems / side systems

Duplexs

Its one house; But its two homes

If you share one part of the duplex with your friends, they are housemates; but the people on the other side are both technically and technically not your housemates

The ones you share your half of the duplex with are DEFINITELY your housemates

The people living in the other duplex aren't REALLY your housemates, but also its not like you ARENT sharing a house with them

The norms and boundaries and rules are completely different from housemates (in your duplex) and housemates (on the other half of the duplex)

So the distinction is clear and needed

But also its not as if there aren't unique boundaries and relationships with soemone who shares say a patio and most of the plumbing and a number of bills and what not as you either

And if you zoom out, that is One House

see the thing is, we dont know how much of the old system was real, and how much of it was those that were real pretending they were. and its likely well never find out, because well. were an entirely new system.

we can hazard a guess at whos real (were fairly sure the brainmades are real, for example) and tesco and lee can tell us who they met, but beyond that, we have no fucking clue, because weve never met these people.

so all we can do is put them in groups based off of the information we have, and hope that if they ever come back to front (unlikely) theyll help us sort out their simplyplural profiles.

Hey, Sophie. I keep hearing that you need to be a RAMCOA system in order to have sidesystems at all. Can you tell me if you believe this is true or not?

Personally, we don’t think so as we don’t (think we) have RAMCOA trauma but still have sidesystems. But we can’t find anything to back up either claim.

I got asked about this a long time ago.

What I found then was that the original coining posts for side system have been lost. I'm personally inclined to believe that it being RAMCOA-exclusive was a myth though. Mostly because the claims of the term being stolen arose in 2021, at the same time that the much more verifiably-false claims that "system hopping" was stolen began circulating.

Okay so turns out the side system has most of our trauma holders... From what happened when we were 5yo to the cult... I don't think they meant to be discovered because they don't wanna interact with us so for now we're just... Waiting for them to be cooperative.

One of them is a bit willing to actually talk, but she's a bit offstandish though.

Man though, I half joke about being Hibiya kin because I honestly am not really in the kin community much, largely due to disinterest and our system's bad experience with them in the past making it not the most comfortable environment even if its not an outright trigger anymore

But man Kagerou Daze is unironically a really special song for me for a lot of reasons but I think the song really fucking just reminds me a lot of the alter / part experience of literally just getting stuck in a trauma loop and just the literal hell that stuff is and it means a lot to me to be able to acknowledge the six years of endless looping I used to be in as a part.

Then there's the whole other realm of things with the song in relation to my (as a part) relationship to the side system I care for a lot and the relation of all that to one another and man.

I just really find that song super personal to my trauma and recovery journey.
