My Peak TV Journey: *Party Down* season 3

I didn’t know that I had access to Starz when the third season of Party Down aired. When I found out I did have accessI was also finding myself wanting something new, but not starting something entirely new so I went to Party Down.

I was a fan of the original two seasons, though I have not revisited it as I remember it being as depressing as it was funny. That’s a combination I have to see as brilliant. Also I am a fan of the creators from their work on Veronica Mars and iZombie. 

It must say something about me that the only shows with years later revivals I watched are Party Down and Kids in the Hall, both of which I worried would be depressing, and then enjoye in ways that didn’t hint at the depression that I thought they could trigger.

Which isn’t to say this season wasn’t dark. It covered things like how COVID affected small businesses, the attempts to mainstream Nazi talking points in right wing groups (and ostensibly non political groups), Hollywood’s current boom and bust cycle and as always, financial precariousness. But it kept me laughing. The nostalgia factor might created some of this warmth. It’s a great ensemble, and these are some of my favorite characters these actors have ever played. The new characters were great. They had great chemistry or anti-chemistry with the original cast members who were alternately baffled and angered by them. The shorter season might also have contributed to the darkness being less despairing. Or just that I'm in a different moment of life.

I have no idea if it will have another season, but I’m glad we got this.

listen i think we should bring back some of the like 2012-2015 era pjo memes and trends so the show folks can get a taste of what the fandom was like back then.

Persassy, "fish jesus," Soldatino, some of the popular ships from then just for fun (remember when Travis Stoll x Katie Gardner was a thing? the extremely brief period of time when people shipped Jason x Butch Walker because Butch is described with "a face like a pile of bricks" so it was a convoluted Brason joke?). i hear people are calling show percabeth "smartwater" so that's coming back already, that's fun. there's potential here.

Personally if I wanted someone dead in Gotham, I'd kill them and then KEEP THEIR BODY! It's Gotham people get revived all the time. Take their body, make sure they're 100% dead, personally cremate them, then take their ashes and make something inconspicuous.

If the new Twilight show wants to throw in Team Alice as an option for Bella that's fine by me. Arguably, Bella's friendship with Alice is healthier than either relationship with Edward or Jacob.

The only way I will accept a Twilight TV show is if they recenter it around Charlie and turn it into a supernatural mystery about a grizzled ex police chief hunting down the strange boy that he's convinced is behind his daughters murder.
