This is the real reason why ‘Chosen’ holds any real weight to it. The weight of being the Slayer is lifted and she didn’t have to self-sacrifice this time for it. Even though that’s what she wanted because she was exhausted.
She actually found a way to live without the weight of it crushing her. I still prefer Season 5’s finale for many number of reasons. But I did like that they subverted the whole “one girl in all the world” with Season 7’s finale.
I don’t give Season 7 much credit, as you know, because I do think the whole thing is very sloppily written - but yeah, I did really like the endgame and thought Buffy’s endgame was most appropriate for her especially.

When she arrives in Cherrywood Grove for a working vacation, shy photographer Trisha Ivy expects to kick back and relax, enjoying her last summer of freedom before turning into a real adult with a mortgage and a nine-to-five. After all, her real life is back in Chicago with her best friend Bella, not a sleepy small town. But Trisha keeps running into beautiful, confident Gabi Gonzalez, a caterer working all the same weddings…and she’s the daughter of Trisha’s favorite local TV star. Trisha can’t resist getting to know her. After all, she’s only in town for the summer, and Gabi is straight. What harm could it do? Gabi Gonzalez has spent most of her life trying to escape Cherrywood Grove and find something bigger and better. During an internship in Milwaukee, she thought she’d finally found it. But after her father’s sudden death, she returns home and tries to squeeze back into the same childhood roles: kid sister, cool aunt, tireless worker. She’s just resigned herself to going through the motions when she meets Trisha, someone who finally sees Gabi for her own self instead of putting her in a box. Can Gabi open up to Trisha about what she really wants before Trisha leaves town for good?
Mod opinion: I've heard of this book before and it sounds like a sweet romance, but I'm probably not going to read it myself.

I mean frankly part of what's stopping me from writing Weight atm is that I know the next few chapters.
And uh. I'm gonna piss off a lot of people with what's going on in Ruby's head. And I'm not sure I wanna deal with all the comments yelling at Ruby and her decisions that, y'know, frame it like I'm being an asshole and they hate me.
I get enough of those with Atlas. It's. Not fun.
Like. If anyone remembers! Ruby's not in a good place! The only person on her team not turning her into a messiah is her sister. Her sister. Who is very distracted by falling in love, figuring out her sexuality, dealing with her own traumas, her own fears, and now also the Happy Huntresses.
"Would you kill for me?"
"Would you do something else just as horrible for me?"
"What about forgiveness? Would you forgive me if I did something horrible, on purpose, if it was our only option?"
"Ruby. Why are you asking us this?"
Because Ruby's running out of options.
And she's got no one she feels she can lean on right now.
Especially with Penny's own fears and nightmares swimming up to swallow her and pull her away from Ruby, too.
35 is the midpoint.
Midpoints aren't nice in Wally World.

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."
Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.
These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!
Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!
Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.
So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

I genuinely feel like an alien compared to my coworkers when they try to chat with me about things like dating and weight loss. like what are you SAYING about "oh you know it's just so hard to make your man understand the instructions you give him?" why are you trying to connect with me by complaining that you gained 15 pounds? is this how most people form connections in the workplace? i for real do not get it

I was poking fun at how unexpectedly silly the CHB kids looked in armour in the first two episodes of the PJO show (acting like an almighty army and all) and then it hit me. This is exactly how some of them will look like when they will be dying in the final battle. Silly. Tiny. Literal children
