Also I really love how Toby was the one who was very vocal in his distraught when Angor Rot was killed, considering that of all the others there, he hates Angor more after what happened with Aaarrrgh!!. It just makes a new What If AU of the possibility friendship/redemption arc with Angor and Toby.

Can we also talk about the romance like Jdjakhskasj I love Jim and Claire, but Barbara and Strickler have my whole heart 😭😭💖💖💖

One Way of Being Useful

Claire has felt useless all summer.

AU in which Claire and Jim never got together (likewise for Aja and Steve), and the guy with skills in geology and a magic hammer went with the trolls instead of the theater girl who doesn't have a magic weapon.

She hadn't been useful enough to keep Aja from becoming an orphan. From being alone while Krel took the throne. Akiridions didn't cry, and yet Aja's voice was hoarse from crying. "Hold me?"

Tales of Arcadia Halloween Fic recs

Any TOA fans out there looking for something spooky to read around Halloween? Well then this is the the list for you! A compilation of my favorite horror and Halloween themed Tales of Arcadia fics. Some of these are safe for all ages, but some do lean hard into horror, so mind the tags and read with caution.

Arcane Blight @avirxy Do you like horror? Do you like Tales of Arcadia? If the answer is yes to both then stop what you're doing and read this. Takes place in an alternate universe where Jim is the new kid in Arcadia, and he quickly realizes that this innocent looking town has dark secrets lurking beneath the surface. To say any more would ruin a lot of the truly gut punching, jaw dropping twists and turns this story has.

The Changeling Masquerade @earth-ambassador-jim Takes place in the author's changeling Toby au. Shows how exactly changelings celebrate Halloween, but with a sinister twist.

Tear Me In Two (The Moonlight Will Anyway) @avirxy Two words. Werewolf Claire. In a monster hunter au Claire gets a nasty bite from a lycanthrope and the whole group struggles with the consequences. One of my all time favorite pieces of werewolf media for the absolutely phenomenal way it explores what it means to unleash the beast within.

Through the Veil @pinkytoothlesso11 This one's just getting started, but holy hell what a start! Jim doesn't given much credibility to Eli's ramblings of monsters and conspiracies in their town, until he witnesses someone he trusts performing a horrific ritual on Halloween night that brings everything he thought he knew into question. Now Jim and his friends are far from home and lost in a world hostile to human kind, and no guarantee that they'll make it home safe.

Something's wrong with Arcadia @earth-ambassador-jim When Jim and team Trollhunters aren't running around causing problems, what does the average Joe think of the strangeness going on in Arcadia? Bular and goblins and changelings shown from a mundane point of view in a way that's absolutely chilling.

31 Days in the Darklands @xdeusxmachinax Not technically a Halloween story, but takes place near and on Halloween with tons of horror and spooky imagery. I always give it a re-read each spooky season. In the wake of an unconventional treaty Strickler struggles to keep balance between Trollmarket, the Janus order, Arcadia, and the Darklands but the universe seems to sabotage him at each stage, and there's more than just pumpkin spice in the air this year in Arcadia.

Snippets, Snails, and Trollish Tales @whitherwanderyouspirit Some mostly Stricklake centered Halloween one shoots ranging from sweet to spooky to downright terrifying.

The Manor atop the Hill @avirxy A Haunted House story like you've never seen done before. When a desperate and frightened Jim follows his mother into the mysterious mansion on the outskirts of town he finds himself trapped in more ways than one. No one has lived in this house for as long as anyone can remember, but it is far from empty. Forced to rely on ghosts and a mysterious girl, Jim has to keep his wits about him if he wants to escape with his life, and his soul, intact.

The wind ruffled the trees forcing the leaves and the petals from the flowers that grew at the top, close to the sky, far away from the ground to abandon their place and fly away to find a new home somewhere far away from the world they knew.

The woods were quieter than Arcadia Oaks Park. There were no people, no screaming kids, no strange dogs trying to eat or play with Archie or Al without supervision or at least that was what Y/n would say to herself and everyone who would ask why they would go that far to spend the afternoon.

She had spent most of the afternoon laying on Douxie’s lap observing his beautiful face. The way his left nostril would flare up when he frowned, his red cheeks that accentuate his freckles after the sun had kissed them all afternoon. She cursed him for closing his eyes to enjoy the sun and denied her the blessing of observing the hazel eyes where she wished she could be buried.

From the corner of her eye, she could observe the spectacle of the banished leaves. She saw a roge purple petal fall on Douxie’s soft hair and smiled. If she was an exiled she would try to find refuge in Douxie too.

Y/n stretched her hand, pulling the petal away and returned to enjoy the silence of the evening.

“Mmh?” Douxie straightened up against the tree he was laying on “What happened?” He blinked slowly.

Y/n felt her insides slowly melt at the sight.

“Nothing…I pulled away a leaf” she smiled, pulling herself closer to him.

“I think I fell asleep” he yawned, pulling her closer, cradling her in his arms.

“You did” Y/n laid her head in her chest, listening to Douxie’s heartbeat.

Y/n closed her eyes feeling the soft wind caressing her face and the warm irradiating from Douxie’s body transporting her to a plane where she could only feel peace.

A sigh escaped Douxie’s lips quickly bringing Y/n back to this troubled place.

“What is it?” Y/n looked up.

Douxie was frowning, his mind was far away.

“Mmh?” He said after a moment, looking down at her.

Y/n let go of the embrace and sat up. She softly grabbed his cheeks and made him look at her. Instinctively, Douxie leaned into her hand.

“Are you okay?” Her eyes were full of worry.

“Yes, darling, of course” he smiled, grabbing her cheeks and kissing her nose.

“Doux” Y/n pouted.

“Is just…silly” he chuckled, letting his hands fall down on her lap.

“I like silly”

Douxie nervously laughed:

“It’s just…these flowers grow in…these flowers used to grow in Camelot” he voice got weaker as he spoke.

Y/n looked down to the blanket where they were laying, it was covered by these mysterious purple flowers, she picked up one and smiled. It smelled the same, like home. Douxie was right. She remembered the flowers. She remembered climbing the endless trees to picking them up for her father’s birthday, for Morgana after a rough discussion with the King, she even remembered gifting one to Guinevere when she was really small. They were convenient but beautiful flowers, they’ll grow in the top of the trees and will fall when the wind decides it’s ready to leave.

“Yeah, they did” she twirled the flower in her hand. She turned to him “Do you miss it?”

Douxie sighed. They would tip toe around the topic but never really talk about it. Walking around the abyss, scared to fall into the pitt of nostalgia.

“Everyday” he whispered, throwing himself into it without fear of what could happen.

“Me too” she sat next to him, her back on the tree, looking down at the purple flower “I miss the city, the food… not so much the people”

Douxie laughed.

“The food” he closed his eyes thinking of food he would never taste again “Remember those little pies they would sell in the bakery by the fountain”

“…the bakery by the fountain” Y/n remembered at the same time, the smell coming back to her like a brother coming back from war, like a tragedy “those were good. I love Jim’s cooking but nothing compares to those pies” she laughed.

They sat there, their eyes lost in the memory of a home that they could never go back to. Two orphans to a place that no one, really, remembers.

“Sometimes I sit here and pretend I’m back home” Y/n confessed, her cheeks flushed.

“When you get away from the highway and the dumpster, it looks a lot like the forest in the back of the castle” Douxie nodded.

“I take what I can” Y/n laughed.

Douxie joined her.

“If you could, would you go back?” He asked, his eyes focused on the leaves falling from the trees.

“I don’t know. Maybe for a while” Y/n kept observing her flower “I don’t know if I could lose everything again”

“Mmh”

“What about you?” She turned to him.

He looked at her, grabbing her free hand. A flash of hurt was washed over by the love he felt for her like a wave.

“I couldn’t survive losing you again”

so this little drabble i wrote when I was taking an anthropology course called ritual and religious actions and we were learning a lot about you know rituals and religious actions and it got me thinking about how douxie experienced cultural change over the centuries

Now as much as Hisirdoux loves humanity’s propensity for change, it can also be quite frustrating at times. The world that Hisirdoux grew up with existed so far in the past that even the most devoted of historians only have the vaguest impressions of the life he once knew. It’s an incredibly lonely and isolating experience, one he would never wish upon another human being. It’s even more frustrating considering he never even realizes changes are happening until he’s standing in a world that’s completely foreign to him. 

Take weddings for example. What seems like just a few years ago to him, weddings were modest affairs only taking a week or so to arrange and only involving the closest of friends and family. He’s not sure when that changed exactly but oh boy did it change. Hisirdoux was invited to a wedding not too long ago, by a coworker no less, which already threw him for a loop. But the ostentatious white dress, luxurious cake, multiple course meals, the fanciful decorations, followed by hours upon hours of dancing and partying long into the night truly made him feel like an outsider. 

Now he can see the connecting threads between how cultural traditions change. At the end of the day whether a wedding is planned in a week or months and years in advance they serve the same purpose in the end. To transition between the life stages of being single to being married, while also serving as a completion of the engagement period. Basically he understands that what he was invited to is a wedding, and he understands how it is a wedding, but he has no idea why it has changed so drastically. 

It’s frustrating to say the least, but there’s not much he can truly do about it. He doesn’t have the patience to academically analyze history in order to understand why humanity is the way it is. Besides, he’d much rather focus on the future rather than risking getting stuck in the past. 

Hisirdoux does try to keep up with cultural trends, he really does. But sometimes you use up too much magic trying to vanquish a basilisk, end up sleeping off the magical exhaustion for 30 years and miss Columbus ‘discovering’ America. So yeah, sometimes he misses things.

It hasn’t been a problem until recently, when he started interacting with non-wizards or witches on a more regular basis. Before he was forcibly adopted by a group of traumatized teens, Hisirdoux’s only real friends were Archie and Zoe. And even then Archie isn’t even human so it’s not like he even gets anything about human cultural traditions, and Zoe is in the exact same situation that he is in. If one of them accidentally uses outdated slang or whatever, chances are that neither of them will notice.

That is distinctly not the case whenever he is interacting with team Trollhunters, or even their parents. It makes him feel like an old man, which he is not, thank you very much. He will forever be 19 years old, give or take a few centuries, and no amount of outdated references will change that.

Ghosts he left behind - Everything prior to Jim Hunters still happened... Except Jim didn't come home after being dipped in T-Juice and has seemingly disappeared. It can only end well, I mean Merlin seems pretty unbothered about it!

All of the existing chapters will be getting a formatting fix when Stars' own is done.

As long as there are stars in the sky - Through a bit of fandangled magical backup plan Douxie ends up as the next Trollhunter and is Not Happy about this development. Shenanigans like Draal gets spritzed in the face with a spray bottle, the kids still find Kanjigar's body and we've got very old magic users having to pretend they're just regular humans what more do you want? There's lots of Zouxie to boot.

Currently editing/format fixing the existing chapters. From what I've seen so far Chapter 1 shows it's written in a week agenda pretty bad I'm so sorry.

Eli's Blog - Earth Date 11022021 - Eli starts a blog based on the events of Stars as he discovers them. He's also thinking about getting a couple of new recruits...

A Heart of Glass - Douxie discovered there would be consequences for releasing the Camelot prisoners though he couldn't have predicted how it would have resulted in the loss of his hand and ending up under the guardianship of the Arcane Order. He's still a good kid just prone to gallows humour and a wibbly moral compass.

These thoughts of you - Shameless Zouxie fluff reminiscing about how they first met even though they wouldn't become friends for a long while yet.

I wanted to put the 82 oneshot/drabble/whatever collection but couldn't think of a description and it's more I'm proud of how terrifying that sucker is.
