step 1: update your phone

make sure your phone is up to date and charged at least 80% before you begin! oh yeah and i should mention that this tutorial is for apple phones :)

step 2: declutter

clutter literally scares me, so i always try and keep everything (including my phone) clutter free!

remove ever single app that you can, not delete, remove. you can do this by:

hold down any random app button >> click edit home screen >> click the little minus sign at the top left of the app button you want to remove >> click move to app library >> you can now only view it in your app library if you scroll all the way to the right from your home screen

step 3: find inspiration

pinterest and yt are great places to look! i got these off of pinterest

you could also go on google and just type in the theme/color/whatever you're looking for.

step 4: home screen formatting

this part is a lil overwhelming but that's why i'm here! this is about customizing and decorating your home screen.

first off, look for design formats. you want it to be functional AND aesthetic. take out a sheet of paper or a digital whiteboard or whatever and sketch out what you want your home screen to look like. i find it really helpful to just go "okay, i want a small widget there there and there, my most used apps there, my social media here," etc. remember, it can't just be pretty, it also has to be functional.

step 5: add widgets

now you might be thinking, "how the heck do i do that?" don't worry i'll tell you right now :)

app store >> download widgetsmith >> choose from small, medium, or large widget >> click add widget >> tap it to see all the optiona and pick the one that best fits you (in this case i'm doing photo) >> select the picture you want >> go back to main screen, leave the app >> hold home screen >> press + >> scroll all the way down to widgetsmith >> hold down small >> place it >> hit done >> edit widget >> select the new small widget you created >> untap

don't worry, it's a lot easier once you start doing it!

step 6: customize your app icons

Simple ways to get around the mundanity of life and feel less bored/depressed overtime.

1: next time you're at the store? get a new fruit. So serious. Just one. Bets are you haven't had every fruit in the store. I've made it a tradition to try one new thing every time I go. Last week I grabbed my first ever pomegranate (and realized that they aren't my favorite, but who cares). Don't hold yourself to any standard here. They can be fresh, dried, frozen, hell even pureed. Just something new you haven't actually tasted before.

2: change your phone/computer wallpaper and reorganize your apps. (mini self promo: i'm in the process of making some lockscreen subliminals that I think are really fun :) if you want to get more witchy with it). Use your widgets. Make your own, if you have the energy.

3: delete apps, photos, data. You realize how much you hold onto that you don't need. Don't be a digital hoarder. Find 2 more to add. Play around.

4: move where you do things. Even if it's not very far. I write my posts from my bedroom most of the time, but I'm slowly randomizing my spot. The library, cafe, or even just your kitchen. on the floor. On the countertop. Outside. In the closet. The world is your oyster.

5: move around your actual space. If you're physically abled, literally rearrange the room. My mom had the habit of moving our couch every month. A drawer also works.

you are not a "lost cause" or "too late" to do anything about your screen/social media addictions. Most of the people my age and younger have one! You can still always change your habits and practice them. Here's some things you can try to be more mindful and actionable about your screen time

Use an app or widget that makes you very aware of how much screen time you're using. I average 3 hours a day, which adds up to like, 2 full months out of the year I'm on that damn phone. the perspective really helps.

Delete your social media apps and resolve to only use them at a computer/laptop. Making your engagement have intent and not be mindless.

Use apps that are actually educational or productive if you are going to use your phone a lot. I have Libby (a library ebook/audiobook app), Duolingo, and Simon Tathams Puzzles. Having options makes me feel less penned in, and I'm more likely to use them than social media

You can start reading again. It may feel hard, or like you don't have the time, but I promise you do have the time. You can even reread old stuff you know you liked. You can read embarrassing things you don't want people to know you read! Start with just reading during your lunch break at work, or reading right before bed. It is possible to start reading with the voracious attitude you had as a kid

Practice being bored again. I have ADHD, I know being bored feels like glass stabbing into your hands, but sitting with yourself and not being on a device, or even doing anything, is actually good for you. Boredom intolerance is part of what drives the social media addiction, and learning to be bored can help break the habit

try to engage in some creative task every day. And anything that can be considered consuming media does not count! Doodle, write a poem, play with clay, make a pile of leaves and shape it into a perfect square, play a ttrpg, play an instrument or sing, spend time styling your hair differently over and over. anything that gets you thinking creatively about what you're doing. you don't have to be an artist to be creative!

regarding your latest bg3 text post about mods: I feel you! Would you mind sharing the gameplay mods? I really wanna try as well :)

i'd be happy to! gotta put some disclaimers though:

i don't personally care about "game balance" on repeat playthroughs, so a lot of this stuff might seem OP, especially all put together lol. some of these mod authors suggest mods that increase difficulty for balance.

i can't guarantee that all these mods will work together safely, flawlessy, or effectively. this isn't a mod list, i'm just sharing mods i've personally been enjoying.

be thorough if you install them-- read description pages, check for compatibility patches, etc. there are a few key requirements for using multiple race or class mods at once, such as community library, compatibilty framework, and patches for cc.

all that being said, here's what i'm having fun playing with!

RACES: astralities' tieflings / aasimar / goblins / dhampir

CLASSES: cleric subclasses / harlequin / syrchalis' druid mods / drakewarden ranger subclass / blood wizard subclass / college of spirits bard subclass / arcane archer fighter subclass

LEVELING: unlock level curve

UI/QoL: improved ui / better hotbar 2 / better containers / better party panels / better maps / better dyeing / better widgets / better hints / better inventory / better trade menu / faster rolls / no intro / no press any key menu / WASD movement / camera tweaks

WEAPONS/ACC: orochigago's weapons and wonders / shivero's legendary equipment / elven weaponry shortbows, longbows, blades, wands / eldertide armaments / bags bags bags reforged

SPELLS: 5e spells / syrchalis' rebalance series (i pick and choose) / chromatic spells

FEATS: plus feats / feats extra / rebalance feats

FX: vlad's grimoire / shivero vfx library

CHEATS: faerun utility / unlimited dyeing / ultimate cheat spells / no insp cap / tutorial exit / carry weight extra

reminding you once again to seek out compatibility patches, read mod descriptions, and be mindful of your load order.
