Thanks so much for this blog of yours, it really helped me to understand more of the stories. I just finished MDZS, TGCG, SVSSS and now I'm reading 2Ha.

For this ask game, can I ask MDZS or SVSSS?

Before I start reading, many people said that SVSSS is inferior to other MXTX works, after finishing the books, I disagree, because I enjoy them all the same....

I mean, if starting last year is considered "late," then I'm also behind, because I only started reading things a few years ago lmao! But it's never too late when fandoms are still booming (for better or worse). So I see we're finishing out the mxtx novels.

Favorite Character: Wei Wuxian

Favorite Arc: all Drunk Lan Wangji encounters!

Character I Think is Underrated: Lan Wangji, if i have to hear “he’s boring” from people who can’t read one more time…

Character I Think is Overrated: all of the antagonists and villains. Jiang Cheng is not "single mother!jiujiu," he is just a bitchless Wen Chao. Jin Guangyao is not "poor little Meng Yao forced to do things against his will," he is a a calculating murderer who will scheme against, betray, and kill anyone who stands between him and ultimate power. Madam Yu is not a "girlboss" (unless we accept the real meaning of that word, which is a woman who gains power by ingratiating herself into oppressive systems as the female alternative to corrupt male leaders), she is a domestic abuser who made every single person in her family and husband's clan miserable.

Favorite Ship/Pairing: Wangxian

Something I Love About the Book: I love the way this book is adamant about good always eventually being rewarded. That even if the outcome of doing good was terrible, that does not make the effort wasted or useless. Lan Wangji protecting Wei Wuxian at Nightless City was worth it even if he was almost killed for it, because it made sure that the yin tiger tally did not end up in the Jin Clan's hands as a completed weapon. Wei Wuxian saving the Wen was worth it even though he was killed for it, because A-Yuan got to live. Wen Qing and Wen Ning saving Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian was worth it even though Jiang Cheng betrayed them in the end, because their clan still got to live through its last descendant. None of their actions were met with immediate rewards, but the larger implications of them led to better outcomes than had they just kept to themselves and the status quo of corruption, as everyone else had.

SVSSS (my favorite of the three 🤗)

Favorite Character: Luo Binghe, hands down

Favorite Arc: Holy Mausoleum Arc, cause y'all (Shen Qingqiu 😒) gonna stop falsey accusing my baby, today!

Character I Think is Underrated: Bing-mei version of Luo Binghe, not because he's "unpopular," per se, but because mainstream fandom's perception of him seems to be that he is just Bing-ge who cries, and this is a complete mischaracterization of his character based on popular fanon. I see too much hate for him in this fandom because of it

Character I Think is Overrated: Shen Jiu. The man was a child abuser and died to one of his victims because he chose to be a child abuser. There is nothing tragic or unfair about that. Leave that man in the ether where he'll hopefully never have a chance to harm another person again.

Favorite Ship/Pairing: Bingqiu

Something I Love About the Book: Shen Qingqiu. The man is trying his damndest to do right in what he considers a doomed narrative, but the moment he realizes that his efforts have actually made things worse, he immediately pivots his actions. He never tries to justify himself, deflect from criticism, or misplace responsibility. He has one goal in mind, and that is to make as many people's lives as he possibly can better than what they originally ended up as.

Some of my notes from watching Zeta Gundam very, very slowly (up until ep. 34)

(Needless to say that it contains spoilers and that I get very annoying about the female characters because that's my thing)

-I'm 6 episodes into Zeta Gundam and I still don't know what to make of Kamille. On the other hand, it took me a look at some screenshots of SD Gundam Kamille to know that I'd die for him.

-I was very surprised to see Kamille openly declaring that he's autistic. Why don't we have more of that?

-20 episodes in, now (watching v. slowly). So... Z isn't exactly that great about women... right? 0079 left me gladly surprised on that front, but my expectations were super low. Maybe I should turn off that part of my brain while watching this.

- I hate to say this about a female character but so far Beltorchika is so annoying. Wake up, sis! You can't fix the dude, you barely know him! He's not opening up to you, and please leave the 15 year old out of your problems with Amuro!

-"I learned karate and how to make Mobile Suits to become a man!". Kamille isn't beating the transmasc allegations /J

-It makes sense that Kamille resents her mother for apparently caring more about her job than her family, but this does speak more of that general anxiety about women in the workplace than of anything else. Might be a common cliché at the time, still don't like it.

-She's allowed to be a terrible mom, but maybe for other more nuanced reasons? Also the fact that Kamille mentions that Fa made things that his mother should've done for him... it's gonna be really awkward if Kamille/Fa is the endgame ship.

-So, if both Kamille's parents were responsible for the development of the MK-II, then when he fights in it, one can say that his parents are still protecting him. On the other hand, we could also consider the MK-II as Kamille's little br- *gets shot*

-Ep 21: The titular Zeta Gundam appears. -Male Feminist guy is creepy. -Bright has the vibes of an exhausted High School teacher. - Fa rescues Kamille in space. This two are soo endgame

-Bright: Emma, you should do something about Kamille and Fa. Emma: Nah. I'm not Kamille's mom, besides, teens like to make drama as a form of recreation.

Emma is so cool. (Also, she and Reccoa should kiss)

-If there's a fanfic out there about Bright Noah being a clueless high school teacher/principal, please let me know. That's like the perfect AU for him.

-Girls can also fuck up in the battlefield and get slapped as a form of military disciplinary tactic! Hashtag equality. (But seriously though, I wasn't expecting Fa to become a pilot. Interesting).

-In the comment section of the dubious site where I'm watching this show, people are saying that Zeta is ahead of its time. And yeah, in many aspects it is. On the other hand it took Gundam 40+ years to have a girl protag. Suletta Mercury should've been invented like 30 or 20 years ago.

-Meanwhile, Scirocco is high-key trying to get Jerid killed and failing. They're both huge losers.

-Also, Kamille is slowly and steadily growing on me.

-Kamille becomes more mature and thoughtful. - The story brings Katz to be the new impulsive boy who fucks everything up. -Katz matures after a couple of episodes. -Now there's a pair of annoying kids whose only purpose is to awake Fa's maternal instinct (???) It never ends!

-On the other hand, I did enjoy those five seconds where Quattro was babysitting those kids. Would've preferred more of that.

-I love that in-universe everyone refers to teenage drama as "recreation". Even Kamille at some point admits that he and Fa are engaging in such recreation. At least their relationship is evolving in a healthier way than Amuro and Fraw's in 0079.

-Between Reccoa possibly having feelings for Scirocco and Mauar protecting Jerid, it's evident that in this universe everyone suffers from having Bad Taste in Men. Y'all could do better, queens!

-Also everyone punches and slaps each other so much. And it's not a love language. It's just another language that everyone just use. (There's even a punch compilation in tumblr, it's hilarious).

-I really hope to eventually get an explanation of what's up with those kids that Char brought from Earth, because so far their only purpose is to fuel Fa's maternal instincts.

-Episode 33! We're finally meeting those funny guys from Axis. This is also full of high quality Char moments.

-*Char has flashbacks of him playing with toddler!Mineva and also gets angry when he realizes how much they have manipulated her* Aww, daddy Char.

* Char unnecesarily beats the crap out of Kamille, five minutes later* Hey! What the hell, Char?!

-Char: "I have never betrayed anyone in my entire life! Ever!

lol, a classic.

-Help! Char is starting to have a similar effect on me as the one that other horrible and pathetic fictional white men have on tumblrinas.

-Seriously though, if UC Gundam were more popular in the western hemisphere, Char Aznable would totally be a Tumblr Sexyman. *shudders*

-Me: I see, so Reccoa actually has a death wish, she recklessly jumps into the battlefield on a desperate attempt to find her own demise, but she doesn't know it.

Z Gundam: Actually Scirocco is brainwashing her with space magic and she's sexually frustrated with Char.

-Reccoa has so many death flags that I'm always surprised whenever she survives. Her fake "death" and its consequences were really well done. I particularly liked Kamille's reaction.

-Maybe the most effective death flag in Zeta is being close to Jerid. That's more letal than the birthday song or being near Amuro's range.

5.His Outlaws team being HIS OWN CAST because he deserves to be his own person and his friends deserve to have their characters respected instead of literally just existing to prop him up.My personal hc is Eddie,Rose,Artemis,Kyle,Thaddeus and two ocs but i'm open to other ones!!

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? kinda raw, float, cinematic, and i'm your warm receiver, watching. the four after kinda raw are all pretty close together in terms of kudos, but kinda raw has a lot more kudos than the one after it and i don't understand why. i have written better fics lmfao! y'all are just nasty. and honestly i appreciate that.

To all my mutuals who have no fucking idea what Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab is, and are watching large chunks of their dash descend into Nick never shuts up about it: I'm so sorry ;) Now, I mean, if we're mutuals, I think this entire series would be your jam, for one reason or another. In no particular order:

--there is a genderfluid pirate who comes off the streets of 1819 London and bullies her way into a magic adventure and just! keeps! going out and kicking ass and taking names and winning everything and honestly, it's the best nonbinary/trans power fantasy swear to God even as I'm like: for the sake of being a fully rounded character, my beloved pirate thief really should have some! consequences.

--there's an insanely through-the-roof powerful magician who's been deeply broken by privation and torture and poverty but still wants desperately to save his world that is so! reminiscent of Thorin fucking Oakenshield it hurts in the best way!

--and speaking of Thorin Oakenshield and the first ship that sucked me viciously into fandom: Dworin people this same magician had this wonderful doomed attempt to rule beside a king and it has all the best Dworin vibes with this amazing personality inversion because there's all the loyalty and affection and the king/general/knight stuff but it's the king! who's outgoing and social and magnetic and our insanely broken magician who's quiet and reflective and it captures the very best of the dynamic without feeling like it's repeating the ship and I need all of y'all to ship Holland Vosijk/Ros Vortalis stat—dear God we don’t get these two until book 3, but oh! Oh it’s so worth it. (oh god sometimes I just sit and drool over the fic @bodysnatch3r and @mainecoon76 would write.

--and let me not forget, the Percival Graves vibes. @maggieandthedragon is another one I just make grabby hands thinking of contributions she’d make to this fandom. Holland is a man who tries desperately to respect life, made party to utterly inhuman actions via torture—the Percy and Gellert parallels, they are strong. And Holland/Vor has some Percy/Thes vibes dear God the golden youth Holland can never recapture.

--for all of you for whom we bonded over geopolitics, power is at the heart of this series. So much of why White London becomes! the way it is is because Red took it upon itself to trap them between demons and a lack of magic for fear of Red's own downfall and then weep endlessly because you all hate us/want revenge. No shit! they do. Schwab handles this well, greying the morality throughout the series, though she hasn't yet done what my socialist egalitarian heart craves and had someone smash open all the doors Red London slammed shut--but don't worry. the fic writers are there to handle that shit. Even if the source doesn't delve as much into colonialism/imperialism as I would like, oh! the themes are there.

--there is sibling affection powerful enough to drag people back from the brink of death. There is a gay pirate who is the homage to every spy novel ever. There’re swordfights and couples over forty and a million other things I love. It's not a perfect series, but I wouldn't love it this much without its flaws.

Fandoms don't like female characters. Y'all really don't.

Let me tell you a little story before we jump in. I've made a comment, about a female character, that I don't give a fuck about, and said, if she was male, she would be aggressively shipped with this one male character. I've said it because she looked so hot as a guy (fanart) that I belive the ship would be popular. Mind you, I didn't watch the show. I just know she doesn't like the guy and always banter with him and that's a dynamic shippers eat it up only when it's M/M.

Someone came and said the popular M/M of that show would still be popular if one of the character is female therefore, I'm wrong.

Mind you, I didn't watch the show so I did a quick search on WHEN does the character dies (lmao) and that's all I needed to know to fucking say NO, IT WON'T. It won't be popular if it was a girl.

The ironic part? I'm aware that, statistically, M/M dominate in ships and in so many other areas. But that's not why I said it won't be popular. Rather because female character are NOT relevant in fandoms. They are not! There is no way, a female character, will play a big importance in ONE arc and dies in that same arc.... that would make a fandom sob, cry, hyperventilate the way it did to this fandom! It never WILL! The man dies too quickly. If it was a female, she will not be relevant. Female characters will never make any big impact the way male character do even if they are written the EXACT SAME WAY.

Hell, they can't even making it to the top 10 rankings of favorite character in their OWN series. You usually see 1 female then the rest of the 9 be male. And it's usually a character who is the main female with the rest of the cast. A side male character will always beat the side female character in these shows.

One of the things I've noticed with the way people treat female character is, if she have a crush/love interest and y'all would act like it's the biggest ICK about her character and she suddenly loses all support while simultaneously, thirsting, salivating, over the same character she likes and behave like animals.

I learned, by being in fandoms, that a female character should never show interests in males. That's the only way she can remain in y'all "good favor" otherwise, it's not going to work. Males can do bare minimum and we gonna dkride them so hard.

How many female characters, if they were male, would be MORE liked than they are now? How many male characters, if they were female, would be LESS liked than they are now?

Liking a female character is a fucking BATTLEFIELD while liking male character is the smoothest ride ever (except for Sanji but he doesn't count for obvious reasons).

Having a male character favorite is just easy if dumbasses aren't power scaling. I might find someone who hates my favorites once in a blue moon and all I can think about is, "THANK GOD someone hate him. I thought he doesn't have haters." I can move on from it because he gets an overwhelming love that it doesn't matter if someone dislike him.

The female characters, on the other hand, you need to get the gun ready to start shooting because you will defending her for days. The hate would show up on your FYP out of nowhere, there is a long discussion about why she suck, they are debates, there are people who don't think she is that great, people who undermine her importance to the plot, people talking about, "I don't care about her. Her story arc is not bad, she is just not it. (aka not a male) I just don't feel her, blah blah. I won't be saying this if she was male, blah, blah, blah."

So in conclusion, y'all hate females.

Or to be accurate, they are not relevant for y'all. Fandoms don't care about them.

Let's just acknowledge that and move on with our lives because I don't want to hear shit from someone who likes over 100 male characters but will struggle to pick 10 females they really like. If the number of females don't even make 20% of the amount of males you have liked, don't fake outrage under my post talking about how it's not true. I don't care if y'all don't like them. Just don't lie.

I know you gonna say, there is more male characters than female which is true but if we consider the overall medium, you have OPTIONS. I'm literally saying to not limit it. If you can't name 50 female characters across an ENTIRE medium but can for males? Don't bother arguing with me.

Anyway, it's a real shame to see that female characters aren't written that much in archiveofourown. There are so many female characters that could have made it to the rankings of the 2023... but like I said, female characters aren't relevant so I shouldn't be surprised they struggling to make the list for that too.

NOTP: Nearl x Platinum. I fucking hate it. Platinum should not be allowed on the same floor of the landship as any member of the Nearl family. Every time one of my beloved mutuals reblogs NearlPlat or BlemiPlat content I have to take a deep breath and remind myself that my mutuals are my favorite people in the world and I need to accept them, flaws and all.

BROTP: Nearl x Saria. The Healing Defenders Who Are Actually Better At Beating The Crap Out Of People Sisters. They're also self-sacrificing idiots. So much to bond over.

OTP: Nearl x Doctor. At first this was just self-indulgence, but the more I think about it, the more I think it works as an actual pairing. Nearl Alter's talk lines in particular lay such a strong foundation of mutual trust and respect and regard that I think could easily blossom into romance and it's honestly one of the few Operator x Doctor As Character Within The Narrative Rather Than Player Avatar romances I'm sold on.

Second choice pairing: Nearl x Viviana Droste

Fluffy pairing: Nearl x Doctor, Nearl x Viviana Droste, Nearl x Nightingale. I know @norondor has heard me talk at length about how cute and sweet and fluffy Doc x Nearl is in particular. Honestly, it's super easy to imagine Nearl ships being fluffy because she's just such a kind, compassionate sweetheart.

Angsty pairing: Nearl x Doctor has so much angst potential, as does Nearl x Nightingale, Nearl x Shining, and Nearl x Nightingale x Shining.

Favorite poly ship: Nearl x Shining x Nightingale (with or without Viviana),

Weirdest pairing: Nearl x Siege. A queen needs a knight.

Yang Xiao Long

Oh God this is kind of tough because my answers for pre- and post-Volume 9 are very different, so I'll give answers for both.

NOTP: Whatever the hell Adam x Yang is called. No freaking thank you.

Enabler (Ruby x Yang) is also a huge vomit moment. Incest is not wincest.

Baked Alaska (Neo x Yang) also sucks ass because Neo is an unlikable little cunt who managed to be too horrible for me to have any interest in despite her cute design and sad backstory and I don't want her anywhere near characters I have positive feelings toward.

Post-Volume 9, Bumbleby (Blake x Yang) is rapidly progressing in this direction because I am not remotely satisfied with how the writers handled it.

BROTP: Freezerburn (Yang x Weiss). Love me some Freezerbros (though I actually like them more as a romance). I adore their aesthetic and dynamic and they get some really poignant scenes together.

Sunflowyr (Yang x Ren) comes in second place because I feel like they'd be good friends if the show ever bothered to show us that outside like one hug in Volume 6. They both rely more heavily on martial arts than their fellow protagonists, though they use different styles, and I think they could have a lot of fun sparring and learning from each other. Would love to see them incorporate aspects of each other's styles.

Dragonslayer (Yang x Jaune) is a good pre-Volume 9 BROTP because Yang has always been very supportive of Jaune (despite both a rocky first impression and the FNDM's attempts to paint her as a man-hating lesbian) and they got to showcase a cute dynamic in Volume 8 in particular.

Greek Fire (Yang x Pyrrha) is my last pick here because they're both talented fighters/athletes and would probably have lots of fun working out or sparring together. Also, Pyrrha's skillset incorporates some wrestling techniques, so they'd probably be able to teach each other some cool unarmed combat tricks.

OTP: Pre-Volume 9, it was Bumbleby, but what we got out of Volume 9 was frankly embarrassing, so now it's Freezerburn. Fuck you Eddy Yang and Weiss wouldn't get divorced they'd be one of the healthiest relationships in this fucking show and frankly probably healthier than the mess y'all made of your flagship sapphic romance lmao

Second choice pairing: Pre-Volume 9, Freezerburn, and then Dragonslayer. Post-Volume 9, I don't even fuckin know anymore because Bumbleby leaves a bad taste in my mouth, I can't ship Jaune with anyone after the shitshow that was He-Jaune, Master of the DILFiverse, and I'm left picking between pairings that are decent but not overly compelling. I guess the candidates are Greek Fire, Sunflowyr, and Nuclear Winter (Yang x Winter)? Just pick whichever one pisses off the most people, I guess. Gotta break the tie somehow.

Fluffy pairing: Pre-Volume 9, Dragonslayer. Two sweet, friendly human golden retrievers. They would be so soft and loving with each other, I just know it (also Jaune would get pegged as fuck). Post-Volume 9, I feel like Greek Fire would take it but I don't really think any of the Yang pairings I like at this point would really stand above the rest in terms of fluff.

Angsty pairing: The answer to this should be Bumbleby, but this show is too afraid to actually let them address their issues beyond a cursory conversation or two so none of the delicious opportunities for conflict and pain and growth and development ever come to pass. Instead they get forced to confess by a magic fucking thunderstorm, mention surface-level aspects of each other that they like and aren't even correct about them half the time, and then kiss in a field of flowers while everyone else is busy thinking about important shit like how to get home and defeat an immortal omnicidal witch goddess. I guess I'll give it to Sunflowyr because they had actual conflict in Volume 8.

Freezerburn has potential for plenty of angst too, but it comes from external sources. They'd be helping each other through it rather than hurting each other.

Greek Fire has angst opportunities post-Fall of Beacon, I guess?

Gauntlets and Greaves (Yang x Mercury) has a lot of angst potential too, but I don't like either the ship or Mercury, so whatever.

Favorite poly ship: Pre-Volume 9? Bee's Schnees (Blake x Yang x Weiss). It has all the benefits of Bumbleby, Freezerburn, and Monochrome (Blake x Weiss), which are all excellent ships, and the additional bonus of giving Weiss two hot tops who will plow her like a tractor. As she deserves.

Post-Volume 9 I guess it's still Bee's Schnees even though neither Yang nor Blake exist as characters at this point, but this is more because a) I can't think of any other poly Yang ships I particularly care for, especially at this stage of the series, and b) I really do adore Weiss and think she deserves to be stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. As a treat.

Weirdest pairing: Nuclear Winter. I'm not sure if the two have even directly interacted in the series outside of a scene or two in Volume 8, but they're both big sisters and self-sacrificing idiots who are hella ready to fight at a moment's notice, so that's gotta count for something, right?

Small Pet Peeve: "I just go with the flow" - when I hear this, I usually see most plotting convos go dead in a matter of messages. lbr everybody, we all have dynamics or specific characters that catch our eyes or that we like. I'm so open about shipping and dynamics like, let's throw out something specific and see where that goes. THEN we can "go with the flow" but we can't flow without direction.

Chapter 4 | Masterlist

We made it downstairs as Phoenix was gathering the last of her things. "I hate that I'm missing breakfast but I will meet you guys for some shopping." I nodded as I walked into the kitchen for some water. "Sounds good, what about dinner?" She shook her head. "Haven't figured out any plans, yet." I nodded as I turned and I heard her gasp. "Oh my god! Are those the Louboutin wedges you were telling me about?" I nodded and lifted my foot for her to look. "How much?" I smirked and sipped my water. "You don't want to know." She scoffed. "And you tied them in a perfect bow?" I looked to Rooster and smirked. "AW! You even tied her shoes for her?" Suddenly she gasped. "This is your first date! Let me take a picture! Please?!" I looked to Rooster who nodded. 

She moved us in front of her large bay window in the living room. "Act all cute or something!" I giggled as Rooster wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close to his side while his other hand reached across and held my waist. I rested one hand on his back and my other on his chest while I popped my left foot up. I smiled at Phoenix as she snapped a few pictures and suddenly I felt his lips on my forehead. "Oh, I am so keeping these for your wedding." I chuckled. "A little soon, don't you think, nix?" She shook her head. "Not at all, I'm maid of honor of course." I chuckled. "Of course, now go. Or else you'll be late." I said and she chuckled hugging us both before walking out the door. 

"Can I drive your jeep?" I nodded and handed him the keys. "Shall we ma'lady?" I looped my arm through his. "Why, of course Mr. Bradshaw." I said putting on my best old southern Georgia accent. He led me outside and to my jeep where he opened the door and helped me in, kissing my knuckles before letting go and closing the door. He came around to the drivers side as we buckled in and he started the car, driving off.

I sipped on my mimosa as we waited for our food. "So, I feel like if we're gonna do this we need to know a little more about each other." I said and he smirked at me, making me giggle. "Oh so we hardly know each other?" I shook my head. "Not at all." He licked his lips before nodding and leaning forward. "Okay so birthdays. Yours is March eleventh nineteen-ninety three and mine is June twenty-seventh nineteen-eighty four." My bottom lip stuck out at his words. "You remembered my birthday?" He chuckled and reached across the table, grabbing my hands. "How could I forget? We did get to spend that one together on the ship." 

I was asked to report to the ready room, which was weird. We were on our way home so we didn't have to deploy. I walked in to find the room dark when suddenly five little flames lit up the room. "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you." My eyes welled with tears as I heard Phoenix and Rooster start to sing. "Happy birthday dear, Magnolia. Happy birthday to you." I rushed over and blew out the candles. Rooster hit the lights as Phoenix sat the slice of cake down and I yanked her into a hug. "You're the best." I let her go as Rooster pulled me into a hug. "Thank you, so much." I said squeezing him and placing a kiss on his jaw as he pulled away, making him look to me. "Well here, it's strawberry." I chuckled as I picked it up. "Y'all want some?" I offered and they shook their heads. "It's yours Magnolia." I nodded. "Yeah, but I want you guys to have some. How often to we get cake on deployment?" They agreed and we all dug in, moaning at the taste.

"I still appreciate that, still to this day." I squeezed his hand. "Okay, school?" I asked and he chuckled. "Graduated from the University of Virginia in 2009, with a bachelors in Political Science." I bit my lip. "You?" I looked down at my Naval Academy ring. "Graduated from the Naval Academy three years ago with a bachelor of science." He smirked. "I didn't know you went to the academy?" I nodded. "Straight after boot camp, met Phoenix in my second year. we bunked together." He chuckled. "That had to be interesting." I shrugged and sipped my mimosa. "It was fun, but Phoenix was always there for me. All the bullshit with Aaron, hell she tried to convince me to leave before he even proposed. Now I realize she was right." 

"Here you go!" The waitress said handing us our food. "Oh, this looks divine." I said staring at the crab cake benedict in front of me. "That does look good." I eyed him. "I'll let you try a bite if you give me some of that bacon." He chuckled. "Deal." I scooped up part of the crab and the egg before holding my fork out. I expected him to take it, but he dramatically took the bite off my fork making me laugh. "Here." He said holding out the piece of bacon, I leaned forward and I saw his eyes flicker down to my cleavage that was visible. I took the piece of bacon in my mouth and sat down, winking at him as I bit a piece off. "Don't. Don't do that." I wiggled in my seat. "Don't do what?" I feigned innocence. "Don't wink at me like that. Don't shimmy around in your seat." I bit my lip. "And why not Lieutenant?" I asked and he leaned forward, talking just low enough for me to hear. 

"Because if you keep it up, I'm going to rip you out of your seat and clear this table and take you right here." My eyes widened at his words, my thighs clenching together as heat pooled in my core. I sipped my mimosa trying to keep my thoughts off of what he just said, "Good girl." My eyes snapped to him. "I'm not doing this here." He smirked. "That's okay." He said as he tucked into his food. What kind of day am I in for?

"Please. Just tell me where we are going!" I said from the backseat of my own jeep. The roof was off and I was tipsy from all the mimosas. I threw my hands up, the air pushing my arms behind me of the freeway. "WOOOO!" I yelled, startling Rooster. "Was it really smart for her to have bottomless mimosas?" Rooster looked back at me and I blew him a kiss. "No, not at all." He yelled over the wind as we got off the freeway. "I love you guys." "Oh my god, she's that type of drunk." Rooster chuckled at Phoenix's words. "Seriously! I am away from my asshole husband, sorry soon to be ex-husband. God I love that term. I'm having the time of my life with you guys, and, I'm gonna go kick ass at Top gun!" I cheered and they did as well. 

"I'm proud of you Magnolia, really." Phoenix said, turning to me. I gave her a wide toothy smile as I leaned my head back as the light turned green. We drove awhile longer and I just watched the buildings go by. San Francisco was beautiful, I love the south. The beauty, the space but these big cities have a charm of their own. We pulled up to a stadium, the sign reading 'Oracle Park'. "So as a gift for getting into Top gun, I got us these." She held up tickets and handed them to me. "Oh my god! You got me tickets to a Braves game?!" She nodded. "I knew you hadn't been to a game this year so I thought this would be fun. Oh, also." She pulled something out of a bag and handed it to me. "I pulled it out of your suitcase before you guys picked me up." I opened the shirt to find it was my braves jersey. 

"Oh, hell yeah!" I yelled as I slid the shirt on. They chuckled before getting out, Rooster opening my door and taking my hand to help me out. "How did you score a third ticket for Rooster?" I asked as we walked towards the entrance. "Being in the Navy has it's perks." We walked in as Phoenix gave over our tickets. "Beer, first thing to do." I said as we walked over to concessions. "I also need food, I barely got to eat before my hair appointment. We ordered beer and food, me arguing with Rooster about paying before I was so rudely reminded that my purse was still locked away in the jeep. I begrudgingly let him pay, since Phoenix bought all of our tickets and we wanted to buy hers for her. 

We took our seats, which were just in front of the Braves dugout and dug into our food. Phoenix sat to my right and rooster to my left. We still had plenty of time before the game started so of course the cameras were going around doing things like the kiss cam which thankfully passed over Rooster and I. "Want another beer?" Rooster asked and I nodded excitedly. "Pretty please?" I grinned at him as he stood and took my cup and trash. "Anything for you, pretty girl." He said leaning down and kissing me. "Hey Rooster, can I get another too?" He groaned and snatched the empty cup from her. "Whatever." He sassed, walking away. "Love you too!" She yelled as he walked back up the steps. The camera was still going around and my heart sank as the camera stopped on Phoenix and I. I turned to her, "I'd kiss you." I said and she laughed loudly. "Ladies and gentleman, we have Caila Motley in the crowd!" My eyes widened at hearing my name. 

"How the fuck?" I asked and the man behind me leaned forward. "I love your song, Good Girl." Everything clicked, since mom released those songs I did a few years ago people have been loving them. Many record companies even offered to buy out my navy contract, which they can't do. "SING! SING! SING! SING!" I covered my face and laid back in my seat. "Get up!" Phoenix said pulling me up. "This is an opportunity you'll never have again, get out there!" I groaned as someone came over with a mic and a beer in hand. "Can I have that?" He handed me the beer, and I chugged it. "I need to be a little more tipsy for this." I groaned. "What song would you like?" I thought about it for a minute. "Bad Boys Get Me Good." He nodded and said something into his ear piece before walking me out to the aisle. 

"We can get you down to the field if you would like?" I shook my head. "No, this is fine." I said standing on the bottom landing just above the dugout. I was nervous but this song was the one I was most comfortable with. I saw the Braves players filing out of the dugout, smiling and waving at me. I waved back and turned to Phoenix, mouthing 'Oh my god' she rushed over taking my hand. "You good?" I nodded. "Just nervous and now I have two entire teams of attractive fans staring at me." She looked over and they waved again and she waved back with a grin. "Where's Rooster?" She looked around, "Probably still getting our drinks, want me to go find him?" I shook my head. "I don't know if I'd feel better or worse with him seeing me." She chuckled. "I've never even seen you this nervous for a takeoff." I shrugged. "I haven't been on stage in over ten years, I used to be good." She grabbed my arms. "You're Caila 'Magnolia' Motley, you are good!" I shoved her shoulder gently. "Alright Hangman!" She chuckled and stood back at our seats as the music kicked on. I took a deep breath as the first verse came in.

I was looking out at he field as I sang, seeing people dancing around or clapping always felt good. I got more into it, dancing around and whipping my hair around. 

I never used to be a troublemaker

Back at school was on my best behavior

People laughed at the last line and I turned to find Rooster just a few steps behind me, three beers in hand, two as Phoenix took hers. His jaw was opened and he was staring at me.

I decided to have fun with this and get him back for what he said in the restaurant this morning. So I bent at the waist and pulled an 'Elle Woods' with a bend and snap, but instead of the snap I ran my fingers along my side before running my hand through my hair. I looked to him to see he was still standing there, watching me intently.

I swung my hips to the beat, my back to Rooster. I could feel his stare on my ass and I could hear Phoenix cheering louder than anyone else.

I closed out the song as cheers erupted. I gave an elegant bow at the waist and tossed a wave to the crowd. "Pure talent right there, folks! Give her a big round of applause!" This made me proud, reminding me why I almost went into music over the Navy. I turned and handed the mic back to the staff member, who shook my hand, thanking me for my service before walking off. I turned to find Rooster still staring at me. 

"What's wrong?" I asked and he chuckled and I took one of the beers. "You just-you-wow." I smirked and leaned up to kiss him. "I'm full of surprises, don't you forget it." I said before sipping my beer and taking my seat next to Phoenix, Rooster sitting next to me and placing his hand on my thigh. I smirked into my beer, happy to just be with my best friend and the literal man of my dreams.

"YEAH!" I screamed as I launched myself out of the seat as the Braves won. "My god! She's a monster!" Rooster yelled at Phoenix as I cheered. "She's drunk!" I sat back in my seat. "I'm not drunk!" They laughed at me as we waited for most people to clear out. "Come on sweet girl, let's get you some food." I smiled widely. "Oh my god! I want the biggest burger in town!" I said making him laugh as he held my hand. "Then let's go find you the biggest burger." I nodded and took off, pulling him with me. "Don't let her drag you!" Phoenix yelled. "She's stronger than she looks!"

I sobered up at dinner, drinking water and eating carbs made me sober up. "So how did you wind up singing?" Rooster asked as we were all sitting in Phoenix's living room, my legs tossed over his, his hand holding my legs close. "The kiss cam came around, and I guess they caught sight of me." Phoenix chuckled. "She thought they wanted me and her to kiss." I nodded. "And did you?" We laughed at him. "No, but we have before." His eyes widened. "Wait what?" I nodded. "It was, um-" "That night we played truth or dare for some ungodly reason." I groaned at the memory. "That was traumatic! But yes, we have before." Rooster raised a brow. "And?" 

"Oh, she's good!" Phoenix said and I chuckled. "You might be better." Rooster watched between us. "Only once?" I shook my head. "Two other times, both drunk." He groaned, "I should've gone to the Naval Academy." I chuckled at him. "It's okay, now you get to kiss me." He raised his brows and tilted his head. "Okay, that's fair." We went silent again, just watching the tv. Until Phoenix spoke up, "I'm so glad you two met." I looked to her, seeing that she was staring out the window. "You okay?" "I just realized, I don't have to worry about you anymore." She had a few tears stream down her face. "Aw! Honey!" I said getting up and crawling into the chair with her, "Come here." I said, pulling her into me as we just sat in the chair. "You don't have to worry anymore." I kissed her head as she buried her face in my chest. 

I looked to Rooster, he had a sad smile on his face. "Let's get you to bed, hm?" She nodded and I stood with her, walking her upstairs. As she got into Bianca's room she laid on the bed and I laid with her for a few minutes. "You're my best friend, you know that?" She nodded. "I'm so happy for you." I chuckled and kissed her head. "It's because of you. We bumped into each other but you were the one who got us to hang out. You were the one who let him come here." She chuckled. "So maid of honor and godmother?" I laughed. "Maid of honor, for sure. Godmother, you may have to fight my mama on that one." 

We laid there in the quiet for a little while longer until her breathing evened out. I slowly stood up, pulling the covers over her and turning off the lights as I closed the door. "She okay?" Rooster asked as he came up behind me, startling me as his hands went around my waist. "She's fine, just happy." He turned me around to face him. "I am too." I smiled and pulled him into a kiss. "I am too, so happy." He quickly lifted me up bridal style, "Come on, I have a flight tomorrow evening and I just wanna cuddle you all night." I giggled quietly as he took me into Phoenix's room, where we slept touching each other all night.

"I change my mind, I don't wanna go to Top gun. I wanna go with you." I said as tears streamed down my face. Rooster wiped the tear away as we stood in the airport. "Oh, pretty girl I would give anything for you to come with me right now. But you have a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you're going to take it. Then afterwards, I'll meet you at the airport in Norfolk." I groaned and rested my head on his shoulder. "I didn't think you leaving would be this hard!" I cried as his arms wrapped around me. "I know, I know honey." I squeezed him. "Go, kick ass, and come out on top!" I nodded. "Don't worry Caila, Top gun is thirteen weeks. It will fly by and you'll be on the first plane to Virginia." Phoenix said throwing her arm around my shoulder. "I know, I just didn't think I would struggle with this. I mean, hell what am I gonna do when deployments come around? Because they will." 

"You'll cry, and beg me to stay and I will do the same thing when you get orders." I chuckled as he brushed my hair back. "Don't even bring that up." I said, making him chuckle. "My flight leaves in forty-five minutes and I still have to get through security." I hugged him tightly, his lips landing on the crown of my head. "I'll miss you." I mumbled into his chest, I vaguely heard myself over his heartbeat. "Oh," He sighed. "I'll miss you too pretty girl." I pulled away to lean up and kiss him. "Remember, if anything happens, I'm coming for you and I'm getting you out. You're mine now, and I'm not letting you go." He said as he leaned his forehead on mine, his hand caressing my cheek and I leaned into it. "I don't want you to let me go." He smiled and kissed me one last time.  

"Oh shit!" He fussed, "What?" He shuffled through his bag and pulled out a long jewelry box. Tears welled up in my eyes at the sight, "Rooster, you didn't." He chuckled and opened the box, showing me the gold diamond solitaire necklace. "You shouldn't have Rooster, it wasn't cheap." I said as I wiped the tears from my face. "Yeah, but my girl only gets the best. May I?" I turned, lifting my hair and let him place the necklace around my neck, clasping it. He placed a kiss on the back of my neck, sending shivers down my spine. "Gorgeous." I smiled and played with the small stone that laid between my collar bones. "It truly is Rooster, thank you." He chuckled. "I was talking about you pretty girl." I blushed at his words and looked at my watch. "Fuck! You have thirty minutes till boarding! Go!" I yelled as Phoenix hugged him quickly, before he pulled me into him. His hands gently grabbed my neck, and pulled me into a searing kiss. "I'll be waiting, honey." I kissed him one more time before shoving him. "Alright Casanova! Go!" 

I pushed him towards security and it took about fifteen minutes to get through. Phoenix and I stayed till he was on the other side. He grabbed his duffel from security and started running towards his gate. "That man is wrapped around your finger." Phoenix said as we turned to walk back to the car. "MAGNOLIA!" We whipped around. "What in tarnation is that man doing?! He's gonna miss his damn flight!" I growled as he ran back up to security, about a hundred feet away. He had a mischievous smirk on his face and he cupped his hands around his mouth. "I LOVE YOU MAGS!" My jaw dropped and I thought my heart was going to swell out of my chest. He winked at me before turning and sprinting back through the airport to his gate. "Did he just-" "Loudly announce his love for you to this entire section of the airport? Yes." Phoenix finished. 

"So, how are you going to respond?" I shot my hand into my purse and digging for my phone. "Fuck, his phone will be on airplane mode as soon as he boards." After a few minutes of digging for my phone, I found it. Only after dumping my entire purse in the floor and making phoenix help me find it. "Got it! Got it!" I looked at the time and saw he had five minutes if he hasn't boarded early. I quickly tapped on the unsaved number and it rang, only once. "Hey pretty girl I-" " I love you too." I muttered and I could practically hear the grin growing on his face. "Oh, yeah?" I nodded. "I have spent the last few years, pushing my feelings aside and I'm done. Bradley Bradshaw, I love you." I looked to Phoenix who was trying so hard to hold in her excitement. I heard something on his end and he sighed. "I love you too, sweet girl. I have to board but as soon as I land I will call you." I nodded and bit my lip. "Okay, I love you." I couldn't stop saying it. "I love you too, honey. We'll talk soon, bye." "Bye." I stood as Phoenix did, squealing as she grabbed my hands to ground me.

The rest of my time with Phoenix was fun, especially after her roommates came home. It was a constant party, bar hopping, clubbing, mimosas at brunch, girl's nights in. It was the most fun I have had in a long time, of course I got to talk to Rooster at least once a day, making sure we called each other and spent some time talking. I also found out many things about Phoenix. 

She loves home cooked meals, but hates cooking. So of course, I cooked some of my mamaw's traditional southern recipes which she died for. She loved getting dressed up, any opportunity she had and she has amazing fashion sense. She could hold her liquor better than any of us. But what surprised me the most, my lovely Phoenix, is a total maneater! She was pulling so many men every time we went out, getting us free drinks, one guy even paid for our meal and our uber. Phoenix had charm and she knew how to use it. 

I was sad to leave Phoenix, but knowing what comes after Top gun had me much more excited to go. I loaded up all my stuff after Phoenix helped me wash my clothes, "It's an eight hour drive and I'll likely hit LA traffic." She nodded. "Call me when you get there so I can stop stressing." I chuckled. "Yes, mama." I quipped and she glared at me before grabbing my face and kissing my head. "Go, so you can kick some ass and show them who the best fighter pilot of this generation is." I nodded and crawled into my jeep. "TOP GUN, BABY!" I yelled as I took off down the street.

I arrived on base almost ten hours later, thank god I left at 5 a.m. I jumped out of my jeep and grabbed my stuff, taking it inside to the barracks. I didn't bring much, mainly clothes and necessities to get through these thirteen agonizing weeks. But now that I'm here, as excited as I am to see Rooster again, I'm so excited to be at Top gun.

"Attention on deck!" We all jumped to attention as Captain Heatherly walked in. "Welcome to Top gun, I am Captain Heatherly better known as Jester, you are here because you are the best of the best. But at the end of your training, only one will truly come out on top and prove they are better than all of you. You will learn dog fighting, how to defend against the best of the best, out there." He said pointing out the window. 

After introductions we were sent out to get in the air. "Lieutenant Wilder." I turned to find Jester walking over to me with a blonde man in glasses in tow. "Yes sir?" I asked and he nodded. "As you were. We are giving you a WSO while you're here." I furrowed my brows. "I'm sorry sir, I've always flown single." He nodded. "Top gun is about challenging you, Lieutenant Floyd here will be your new back seater." I nodded and shook his hand. "Callsign?" I asked as I adjusted my Oakley's. "Bob, yours?" I held up my helmet. "Magnolia." 

"How do you handle intense flying, Bob?" He gave me a crooked smile. "I've trained for it." I nodded and turned to the jet. "Then load up, Bob." He followed behind as we both did our precheck, and loaded up. "Ready, Bob?" "As I'll ever be." We taxied out and waited. "Magnolia, ready for take off." I waited with baited breath for control to give me the all clear. "Magnolia, you are clear for take off." With that I pushed forward until we were finally in the sky.

"I can't believe we're four weeks in and we're in first." Bob said in disbelief as we rode to a bar that everyone has been going to. "We're the best for a reason, Bobby." Bob and I became close over the course of this program, he's become a close friend and we spend a lot of time together. "Think we'll graduate on top?" I nodded. "Keep doing what we're doing, and we will." 

I pulled the Jeep into the sandy parking lot of the Hard Deck and we jumped out. "So whose DD?" Bob raised a finger. "I don't drink often, and I'm not in a mood." I nodded and tossed him the keys. "I'll go easy on you tonight." He gave me a scared look as we walked in, it wasn't super crowded yet so I immediately went to the bar. The brunette behind the bar seemed vaguely familiar, so I waited with Bob at the bar, my tiffany blue sundress flowing around my thighs. She turned and saw me and walked over with an eyebrow quirked. "Do I know you?" I chuckled. "I thought the same thing, Caila Wilder, maiden name is Motley." Her jaw dropped. "No. you're  admiral Motley's daughter?" I nodded and she laughed. "Last time I saw you, you barely came to my knee." I furrowed my brows at her. "I dated Pete Mitchell off and on throughout the years, we went to an anniversary party for your parents. Penny Benjamin." 

I nodded in realization. "So you dated Mav, nice." She chuckled and shook her head. "I know, not my best choice." I shook my head. "Naw, Pete is nice." I held a straight face for all of three seconds. We laughed together, her leaning against the bar. "So you work here?" She nodded. "I manage the place." I smiled at her. "Good, someone I can trust to make my Moscow mules." She chuckled and made my drink, sliding it to me. "Because I like you, I'll give you a heads up on my rules." She pointed to a sign and I laughed. 'Disrespect a lady, the navy or place your phone on my bar. You buy a round.' "I think we'll get on just fine Penny."

By week ten Bob and I were struggling to maintain first place against Yale and Harvard, what a pair. It was ten a.m. on a day off and I was sat on the back deck of the Hard Deck, I have been coming here for a few days to write some songs. It helps clear my mind. Most are about Rooster, a few are about Aaron and what an ass he is. "I'm sorry we're- Oh, it's you." Penny said walking out back. "Sorry, it's just peaceful out here." She nodded and joined me, holding out her hand to me from the chair next to me. 

"Can I see?" I handed over the notepad and she read it. "This is deep, a little different from what i've seen you write on my bar." I blushed realizing she's noticed the few lines I've written when inspiration struck. "This isn't about the man whose been making you happy." I bit my lip. "You're right, it's about my husband." Her eyes widened. "You're married?" I nodded. "Soon to be divorced. I file in three weeks." She huffed. "Damn, I hate that for you." I chuckled. "You should be happy for me. Aaron is a narcissistic ass and I'm more than ready to be with the man I actually love." 

"When did you realize you loved him?" I sighed. "When he yelled it at me in the middle of an airport eleven weeks ago. That's when I realized it, but I've loved him a lot longer. We met on deployment a few years back. My husband didn't pick me up from the Florida keys so we did a road trip since we were going the same general direction. I married Aaron the same day Rooster left back for Virginia." She slammed her hands on the arm rest of the chair. "Rooster? Bradley Bradshaw?!" She asked and I nodded. "Honey that boy was absolutely head over heels for a girl when he was here! Wouldn't look at any other woman in this bar, told me he was waiting on the brunette almost black haired, blue eyed beauty to realize what she was missing. The shock I had when he told me she was married and he was waiting for the day she came to her senses!" I laughed. 

"I came to my senses." She rested her chin in her hand. "Please, tell me it was romantic! The boy seems like a hopeless romantic!" I chuckled. "I think it was. He face timed a mutual friend of ours while I was with her and he told me he would do anything for me, that if I asked him to fly out he would drop everything and come. All I said was please and within an hour that man was on a flight from Virginia to San Francisco." She covered her mouth as she smiled. "We spent the entire weekend together and when he left he pulled out this necklace he bought for me," I lifted the gold necklace to show her. "He ran through security and for his gate, then the fool turned around and screamed he loved me across the airport." She chuckled. "That is amazing! So you're going to be with him once you finish Top gun?" I nodded. "Penny, I would be worse than stupid if I ever let that man go." She bit her lip. "But you're the only one who knows about this, so it's our little secret." I said and she winked at me.

I got back into the barracks after training, ready for a shower before heading out to the Hard Deck. We graduate tomorrow and Bob and I have been neck in neck with Yale and Harvard, we won't know who truly came out on top until graduation tomorrow. As I set my bag down I saw a bouquet of roses on my coffee table, I looked around quickly wondering who brought them in since I had been at training all day. Then I remembered Halo said she left her bra here when she crashed the other night and needed it. She must've brought them in since she had my key before returning it. I grabbed the note, smiling as I read it.

Magnolia, 

Congratulations on finishing Top gun. I wish I could be there to celebrate but I know we will the moment you land. You are an incredible pilot and an even better person and I couldn't be more proud to call you mine.

I stood as he stormed towards me and I caught his arms, folding them behind him. "How the fuck did you get in here?" I asked, growling in his ear from behind. I lost my towel when I fell but I couldn't care about that now, I also noticed he was more buff than he was before I left for Texas. He'd been hitting the gym, which makes it harder to stand against him. I shoved him forwards and he smirked, shaking his arms out. "I still have a military I.D, babe. Grounds staff unlocked the door for me." I narrowed my eyes at him, snatching my towel. "And to my surprise a bouquet of roses were on your front porch, so I thought I'd bring them in for you." My eyes widened in realization, he has been in here since before I got here. "I figured they were from your father but to my surprise they were from BRADLEY!" He started yelling. 

 I bit my lip before I went into my room where I slipped into the shower, letting the hot water ease my tense muscles. I took longer than normal just to unwind, before slipping out. I put the necklace Rooster got me back on, not wanting to forget the simple gold piece. I dried off and towel dried my hair some. I lived in the barracks by myself so I never worried about covering myself after showers. As I walked out I heard something behind me and before I could turn someone grabbed me, launching me into the wall where I crashed to the floor. My vision was a little hazy but I could never miss Aaron's face. How the hell did he get in?

 

"I thought you were still in Texas. I drove out there to surprise you," He paused, why the hell would he visit? He's never attempted to visit before. "Then I get told you were sent here. I almost drove here immediately when I got a call from work telling me to come home." I watched every move he made, watching his body language closely. "I get there and an old college friend of mine is sitting in my office, to tell me MY WIFE WANTS A FUCKING DIVORCE!" He lunged for me and I barely managed to move before he gripped my hair, yanking my head back and wrapping his free arm around my neck, holding me in a choke hold. "You don't divorce me. You are my wife, you will always be my wife, and if you ever try to leave me again, I will kill you and him." His tone told me he was dead serious. 

"You can kill me if you want, I refuse to be trapped with you." He let go of my hair and stroked my head, pushing my wet hair away from my face. "Would you let Bradley die for you?" I furrowed my brows. "He called while you were in the shower." My heart was thudding out of my chest. "I didn't answer of course, I wanted to see what he said. Wanna listen?" He asked, nuzzling his nose in my hair. He pulled my phone up and played the voicemail.

"Hey sweet girl, I guess you're probably busy. Getting all dolled up to go out, probably in some pretty sundress that's going to make you look fucking ethereal. I just wanted to call and say how proud I am of you, there's no way you're coming in as anything less than first because you're a damn good pilot. I know the next few days are going to be hell, meeting with the divorce lawyer and all, but I'm with you honey, every step of the way. I'll be at Norfolk international when you land, flowers in hand. I hope you remember to enjoy these last few hours because they fly by. I love you, pretty girl. I'll see you in a few days." 

"How sweet, he seems to really care. Maybe, I was wrong about him." He squeezed his forearm tighter around my neck, making it harder to breathe. "It really seemed like it when I saw a picture of you two on twitter. All cuddly and in love." I furrowed my brow as he showed me a picture. It was Rooster and I at Oracle Park after my impromptu performance. I was laughing as Rooster was leaning in to kiss my head, my hand on his left bicep as his right hand was holding my thigh. "You look happy, just like you used to with me." I pushed against him. "I was happy until you started treating me like shit! I'm worth more than that!" He turned me around, grabbing my face. "You're worth what I say you're worth, and that's less than the dirt under my shoe." He shoved me back into the wall my head bouncing off it. "He even bought you that necklace didn't he?" I shook my head. "I bought it myself." He chuckled, "I'll let you keep it, that way it can act as a reminder of who gets hurt if you step out of line."

"Now, I got you a new phone." He said as he trapped me between his arms. "It has my number in it, and your parents and Jameson's that's it." I shoved him, scoffing. "If this is your way of controlling me-" "No, I have other methods." I snatched my phone and dialed 911. "I wouldn't do that unless you want him dead." I furrowed my brows and his words distracted me enough for him to take my phone and launch it into the wall by my head, making me cower as I was almost hit. It shattered as he stepped past me and stomped on it, staring into my eyes, it was a challenge. "I wasn't bluffing." I stared at him, he really wasn't bluffing.

"I have made, many friends over the few years I've been practicing law. It has brought some very unique people before me." He leaned forward, whispering in my ear. "Did you know that many big crime families live in Atlanta?" I furrowed my brows and looked to him. "A lot of them would agree to just about anything to get their loved ones, even their enforcers out of prison. So when I asked a specific enforcer to help me, in exchange for getting his brother out of prison, he jumped at the opportunity to help me." I shook my head. "You know that when you're caught, not if, when, you will be serving time in prison yourself." I pushed past him to put on some clothes, hating the way he kept glancing at me. 

"No, you see because you're the only one who knows about this. I won't be caught, because if you say anything I will have him shot." I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest, the forest green sundress shifting under the weight. "Get out." I said sternly. He chuckled. "GET OUT!" I grabbed his shoulders and rammed him into the wall. "You wanna see? Because he's being followed twenty-four seven." I grabbed him by the collar of his button up, pulling him off the wall. "If I ever hear that you have touched a hair on his head, I will make you disapp-" Suddenly his phone rang, and he answered the facetime call. I had this man by the collar of his shirt and he answers a face time call? 

"We got him Mr. Wilder. He left base and we're on his tail." A voice I'd never heard before spoke. "Just in time, D. I needed to prove to dear wifey here, that her boy toy isn't as safe as she hoped." I stood him up and backed him into the wall in the hallway. "What the hell is going on?" I growled and he smirked, showing me his phone. Bradley was walking down the street, hands tucked in his pockets, and a smirk on his face. I'm not sure where he was headed but whoever was calling Aaron, they seemed to be across the street, almost like they were in a building or on a roof. "Why don't you take aim, D? I wanna see her reaction." I furrowed my brow until I saw the barrel of a rifle pointed at him, my breath caught in my throat. "Want me to take the shot?" I looked to Aaron as tears welled in my eyes, Rooster was still walking, as if there was nothing wrong. "Why not? I'm tired of dealing with this." I head him cock the rifle and I panicked, the fear of not only losing him but watching him die being too much to handle. "I'LL STAY! I'll stay! Just, please, don't do this!" I begged, pushing myself against him, as if the pressure would change his mind. 

"Oh, hang on, D. What was that baby?" Tears fell down my cheeks as I sobbed. "I'll stay. Just please, don't do this." He smirked at me. "Stand down, D. I got her where I want her." The rifle disappeared from view and the call ended. "Is he-" "No, I'll be nice this time. But if you ever try to leave me again, I'll make sure he's dead, you'll have nowhere to run too. You defy me, I'll kill him. You tell anyone, I'll kill him." His hands rested on my cheeks softly. "I love you too much to lose you, Caila. You need to understand, I can't live without you." If only I could leave, and it kill you. "Just don't hurt him, please." I begged as I cried. Aaron leaned forward and kissed the tears from my cheeks, something he's never done. "Come on, we have an hour before you have to be with your team, you can introduce me at dinner." He pulled me back towards my bedroom. My mind was reeling, he flipped like a switch, like a true psychopath. I felt his lips on my neck and I shuddered. "Aaron." I cried and he chuckled. "Come on baby, I've missed you." He interlaced his finger with mine as I cried. "You do as I say, and Bradley gets to live." I sobbed as he shoved me back towards the bed.

favorite thing about him

first of all I love how he's so GOOD. he tries his best to help everyone around him. he fights every day for a better world. he genuinely wants to see the good in people and he gives so much for his city and friends and family and he just! keeps giving!!!

I also really love how he always tries to put on a smile! I think back to my anime phase when I watched My Hero Academia. the reason why All Might was such a great inspirational hero was because he always, always saved people with a smile. he gave them hope! he made them realize, as the world is burning and the sky is falling all around them, that "hey. it's gonna be ok." and that's DICK MOTHERFUCKING GRAYSON! a sword to his enemies a shield to his friends a blanket to tuck around the shoulders of the people he's protecting etc etc. superheroes are about hope and nobody embodies that more than Dick!

least favorite thing about him

in that same breath: I hate how the fandom (and even DC itself) tries to reduce him to a cheerful, happy go lucky himbo armed with nothing but witty quips and the power of friendship. he's so much more than that!!!! yes, he is generally cheerful, but that's not his entire thing!!!! he's seen shit! he's lost people! he has issues! he isn't a sunshine himbo, he's a man who has seen the worst humanity has to offer, over and over again, but still chooses to save people with a smile. which one is the more compelling character, DC??

as to his actual character, my least favorite thing is how he puts the burdens of everyone else's happiness and well being over his own. whether they be family, friends, or complete strangers, he's always putting people before himself, physically and emotionally. and the reason why I dislike that is because I would like to NOT introspect <3 I just put all that in a box and inspect at a later date

I also hate how everyone tries to turn him into a sexy sex machine. I can't remember where the panels are but there are instances of him being openly uncomfortable with people making sexual comments at him and like?!? writers and fans alike love to ignore that. they make him into a player who sleeps around and cheats on people and just. stop. idk if it's my aroace-ness or the fact that it's just. contradictory to his character but I Hate It. #StopOversexualizingComicBookCharacters2022

Dick should have more comics outside the batfam and titans. listen I know he's the leader of the titans and is part of the batfam but I wish he had a few issues to be his own hero without any connections or people coming to save him! I'm probably just salty about Tom Taylor's recent nightwing comics but I would KILL for a current run in which Dick is just. Being A Hero on his own, in his own way, without bat drama bleeding in or the titans swooping in to hold his hand and save his ass

my greatest dw heartbreak is the fact that peter capaldi is one of my favourite actors and was probably the greatest ambassador for the show and i absolutely LOATHE the writing for his era.

steven moffat IS my nemesis and i hate what he did with the show. this man should have never been a showrunner. he's good with limits and boundaries and standalone.

full offence, i hate clara with a burning passion, no shade to the actress she's very talented, but everything about that character rubs me the wrong way. from the ~born to save the doctor bullshit to the has no life outside the doctor until moffat randomly decided to half-ass giving her a career to the badly written attempts at her having feelings for 11... truly, i despite this storyline so fucking much. again ship what you like but i don't get doctor/clara AT ALL. it makes me angry just thinking about it now. and she was there for SO long UGH.

i hate moffat writing women for obvs reasons but i do love river song. highkey as much as i love matt & alex together NOTHING beats 12/river because peter capaldi said i'm playing a whole time lord in LOVE in that one episode they had together and my fucking HEART y'all. i know i have an unhealthy crush on peter capaldi but his face when he looks at her <333 it's almost as good as ten & rose's in love and utterly devoted to each other faces.

doctor/river still don't hold a candle to 10/rose obvs that shit was it. she was IT. rip to 16 yo me watching doomsday for the first time that shit fundamentally changed me as a person. where's that deancas/tenrose comparison post ?? cut me open and that's what you'll see.

i miss rtd era side characters SO much they were SO lived in and memorable and REAL and they made the show. we lost soooo much of doctor who's heart when he left.

its cringe but i ADORE torchwood despite all of its flaws. ianto jones was one of the very first bi-adjacent characters i ever connected with and he is SO dear to me. rip to my boy it's disgusting what rtd & co did to him :((( baby's first bury your gays, i was 17 and i still haven't recovered. thank god for big finish and all the quality torchwood content they produce.

speaking of big finish... if you're a who fan who hasn't tried to expended universe, i cannot recommend the 8th doctor audios enough. he is FANTASTIC and actually one of my favourite doctors. paul mcgann is INCREDIBLE in the role and it's criminal we only have the movie and that tiny one-shot for the 50th anniversary.
