Netflix has announced many news regarding the Yu Yu Hakusho Event that will take place in Tokyo, on the Evening of December 13, 2023. The application process ends on December 5 on the official site. Seats are limited!

Thousands of fans will have the chance to watch the screening of the first episode of the series on a large screen and at high volume.

Exclusive content with an immersive fan experience

There will be various other projects at the venue, where participants will be able to experience the worldview of Yu Yu Hakusho. Netflix has showed some of the contents:

A photo spot reproducing Koenma's office;

A long corridor displaying the work's worldview;

A dojo where you can practice Yusuke's spirit gun (reigan);

A mysterious scroll called "Koenma's Yogen-sho (Prophecy)".

I wonder what's this "Book of Koenma". Maybe some kind of revelation about the next Dark Age of demons that will happen in a hundred years. He mentioned something like that in the manga. There are many spots about Koenma, will Keita Machida show up with his pacifier? lol

Exclusive Netflix/Yu Yu Hakusho Merchandise

Netflix has unveiled some of the merch that is going to be sold at the venue. There's probably more. They usually sell acrylic stands of the characters too.

Red carpet with cast and director

The fans will have the chance to meet some of the cast on a dynamic red carpet. It seems only Kotone Furukawa (Botan) and Goro Inagaki (Sakyo) will not be attending the premiere. It would be a dream if Togashi-sensei made a surprise appearance.

Things were…not so good. It didn’t take a genius to figure that out.

Kuwabara cut eyes at his friend, brows furrowing at the intense melancholy radiating off him. Yusuke might look…well; he wasn’t exactly hiding his distress- but his weak front didn’t come close to reflecting his inner turmoil.

“What is it? Got something to say?” Said boy’s voice was icy as he glared, making the taller boy startle back. The action softened the chill but not by much. “What is it, Kuwabara?”

“Urameshi..when’s the last time you smiled?” That…wasn’t what he meant to say. Yusuke huffed out a hollow laugh.

“How can anyone smile right now? We’re fighting for our lives in this over the top tournament and Genkai-” The name made him choke. Yusuke bit the inside of his cheek, squeezing his eyes shut. Kuwabara reached out, squeezing his shoulder.

“What do you want me to do for you right now?”

“I- I don’t know! I don’t know, I just- I don’t wanna think about anything. I just want to forget..” Yusuke was shaking, his voice sounding so small. “I need a distraction...anything.."

“...Hey.” A distraction, huh? “Do you want me to tickle you?” Kuwabara felt a bit silly asking, but it was the first thing to come to mind. He waited for Yusuke to snap at him and shove him away.

Instead, he nodded- a shaky gesture. Okay then.

“Just tell me when you’re done, okay?” Kuwabara scooted closer, getting into position. After another nod, he gently skittered his fingers up Yusuke’s sides, watching his friend tense up. “You okay?”

“Y-Yeah…ehehe..it’s f-fihihine..” His voice was so thick, like his throat was covered in molasses. But he was laughing; even if it was kinda forced. “Ihihihit’s hehehelping..hehehe.heheha!”

“Good! That’s good.�� Kuwabara smiled, pressing along the open spaces of Yusuke’s ribs with the same gentle pressure. “Want me to keep going?”

“Yohohohou keheheep ahahahasking thahahat! Ahhahaha, ohoohokay!” Yusuke yelped, twisting around and grabbing Kuwabara’s hands. “Ohoohkay, ohoohkay…”

“Okay?” Kuwabara asked, watching Yusuke calm down. He wasn’t shaking anymore. His throat didn’t sound as clogged.

“...Okay.” He nodded, meeting his friend’s eyes with a small smile. “Erm…thanks. I appreciate it.”

“Urameshi!” Kuwabara let out a mock wail, pulling his friend into his chest and falling backwards, earning a squawk and swear from the other.

The once heavy silence filled with laughter and lighthearted swears, Kuwabara feeling lighter seeing Yusuke come back to his usual self.

For the first time in awhile, he was smiling like before.

huh. well. i didnt want to keep my hopes up to high for the yyh live action, and thankfully so bc then it ended up being better than i was expecting! itll never be able to live up to the anime, but it was enjoyable enough at least.

unfortunately it was. extremely fast paced. they condensed so much into so little time, giving the characters very little room to banter with each other and show their, yunno. character. at least for kurama and hiei, which are my favorite characters of ever (tied with my two faves from sth). kurama never even got to show any of his dorkiness or love for messing with others, especially hiei! their interactions were so limited... it makes me so sad :( also the fact that kuwabara made a jab at hieis height even though hiei is now only a few inches shorter than him ..........

while the humor was rather limited, im glad that it was there at all (bc i worried it was only going to be super serious), and there were def some moments that really made me laugh! n i liked that hiei was still a little shit to kuwabara lol. and also that keiko got to have some badassery :) the action scenes were all pretty cool too, and i do think it was cool how they made some stuff a lot creepier (like those demon bugs possessing people and like, elder toguro in general lol)

ill also say, while as weird as it was to have so much of the story condensed and altered, it was also kind of interesting how they were able to tie in everything into a more streamlined story. while i way prefer the pace and storyline of the original, it was neat how they made each major plotpoint slide into the next like they did.

I will explain: a match up is an event where you describe yourself and I will choose someone that I think matches with you!

The scenario I asked for was for the character I chose in the match up!

• Being this busy also meant not having much time to give attention to your boyfriend, Yusuke.

• He wasn't exactly clingy, but he did want some of your attention.

• You felt horrible because you couldn't give him much time. So you often saw him sulking around and pouting whenever you gave a little " sorry! "Smile."

• Finally a break was in sight! You were so happy to have some time to just relax. You went to tell Yusuke right away!

• He hated staying still so you were sure he was going to suggest you go somewhere.

• he flinched slightly when you mentioned your peaceful day was 13 and 14 of February.

• But you didn't really give two cents to it, just happy to be able to sleep again!

• As the day approached , Yusuke seemed a little bit too busy suddenly and just as suddenly he was back to his normal routine.

• Your break came around. One day apart!

• Did you think it was odd Yusuke not saying anything about going out? No. Why? He was a spontaneous person. He decided to go in at that time and that was that.

• So you went to sleep, half happy, half dreading what he thought of doing.

A Costume Demon Feast

"Yu Yu Hakusho 100% Maji Battle" Halloween Event

This Halloween event was first held on October 15th, 2020. A Halloween party organized by Kurama took place at Yusuke's house in the Human World (check the event "A Grumpy Halloween"). Now Enki, inspired by the Human World's events, attempts to host a Halloween banquet in the Demon World. Many famous youkai like Enki, Koko, Chuu, Rinku, Toya, Jin, Suzuki, Shishiwakamaru, Mukuro and Kirin attend the party. Will Hiei also join this big feast?

Story: A Halloween party hosted by Enki is held in the Demon World. The youkai are all excited, since it is the first time they attempt such event. Hiei, who is not interested in the party, challenges Mukuro to a combat, as usual. However, she tells him she can think about his proposal if he joins the feast...

T/N: The japanese expression "heiwaboke" (平和ボケ) means being so accustomed to a state of peace that one is unable to feel a sense of crisis. Hiei is criticizing the youkai for getting used and complacent to this transient state of peace created by Enki, to the point of becoming unaware of actual dangers.

Hiei: What's that guy Enki thinking?

Hiei: I don't care if the Demon World tries to imitate the Human World.

*Hiei moves in fast motion*

 [At Mukuro's place]

Hiei: Hey, Mukuro.

Mukuro: What now, you wretch?

Hiei: ........

Hiei: Fight with me right now. I'm getting out of shape from all this back-and-forth between the Demon World and the Human World.

T/N: At the end of the series, Enki became the king of the Demon World for the 3 years, and those who lost the Tournament had to work patrolling the Makai. Hiei was put up to the task of escorting humans who have accidentally wandered into the Demon World back to the Human World, erasing their memories with his jagan.

Mukuro:

Hiei, as you can see, I don't have too much time on my hands.

Hiei: Humph, I can see you have extra time on your hands dressed like that.

Mukuro: Now, don't take things so seriously. Tonight's the Halloween party.

Mukuro: Why don't you also just enjoy the grand feast, and this thing called costume?

Mukuro: I know you're not satisfied with just going back and forth between the Demon and the Human Worlds.

Hiei:

...You bastard talk too much.

Mukuro: Don't worry, I am not going alone. As of now, it is planned that Kirin will be also accompanying me.

Mukuro:

T/N: Jin originally speaks with a Tohoku accent. In the English dub, they voiced him with a strong Irish accent. So, you can imagine him talking and using words from any dialect of a specific region of your country.

Toya: Haven't seen so many youkai gathered like this since the tournament, right?

Beautiful Suzuki: The attitude of embracing the culture of the Human World ... How beautiful it is!

Suzuki:

Hey, Shishiwaka? I thought you weren't coming?

Shishiwakamaru: Humph, I refused to come. And yet...

Chuu: Heey, you! Come on, when I invited you, you replied you'd be right over!

Shishiwakamaru: No! I'm sure it was you bastard who dragged me here against my will!

Rinku:

Now, now, it's fine! It's been a while since we got together!

Jin: Say, Touya, shouldn't we dress up for a Halloween party?

Jin: I should have arranged something too.

Toya: Hmm, I don't understand the events of the Human World. At times like this, if only Urameshi were here…

Jin:

Oh! Yusuke seems to know a lot! I want to meet him again!

Rinku: Hmm? Aah...

Chuu: What's wrong, Rinku?

Rinku: Could that be...

Mukuro: I see, this feast is on a much grander scale than I had imagined.

Youkai A: Mu, it's Mukuro! It's the first time I've seen her since the Tournament…

Youkai B: I know the Demon World has changed, but I end up getting kinda nervous...

Kirin: Mukuro-sama, if something comes up, I am at your service.

Mukuro: It's fine. You can enjoy the party as much as you like.

Kirin: But…

Mukuro: I know, keep an eye on that guy.

T/N: thay guy = the youkai C

Kirin: Yes.

Enki: Ehh, everyone. Thank you all for gathering here today.

Enki: Tonight's party is a new attempt to adopt events of the Human World.

Youkai C: Tch ... The Demon World has changed a lot after the Tournament!

Youkai C: I don't like Enki and those laws he proposed either, but I don't get why Mukuro showed up careless!

Youkai C: My goal was to beat Mukuro in the Tournament…

T/N: I wonder if youkai C was one of those random names in the Makai Tournament bracket. They probably were all S-class demons.

Youkai C:  Damnnn … Damn you! FUUUUCK!

Kirin: Haahh! Mukuro-sama!

[Youkai C tries to attack Mukuro, but...]

Mukuro: .....

Mukuro: Hmph, I figured you'd come.

Hiei: I think that guy was playing a trick on you because you didn't give him any candy or whatever.

Mukuro:

Hiei, where did you learn that?

Hiei: I don't know.

T/N: He probably learned in the Human World with Yusuke and the others, in the event "A Grumpy Halloween". Kurama was probably the one who arranged this costume for him lol.

Jin: Oh! That guy's gotten stronger again, right?

Toya: Just as one would expect of the man who fought Mukuro.

 Chuu: I wanna try fighting him someday! Hahahahahaha!

Rinku: Chuu, you've drunk too much!

Mukuro: Hiei, you don't like candies, do you?

Mukuro: In that case, how about our match? Of course, that's impossible to fight here, but…

Mukuro: I can think about it when we get back.

Dp x Dc fic idea

Part 2

So I've been re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho lately and was struck with an idea. What if there was a tradition in the Infinite Realms that the Ghost King would conduct a multiverse level fighting tournament? It probably started as control measure of some sort or stress relief for extremely powerful beings and the Ghost King is the only one who's true neutral enough to judge and powerful enough to kick their asses if they misbehave.

And the final prize is that the Ghost King would grant you a wish? As well as one time access to Zeroth Hour? And that's a reward no one can resist.

I'm imagining a scenario where Darksied or something was gearing up to once again invade Earth, and the JL and affiliated all prepared to defend the planet but before the attack could be launched, a green blob appeared right in front of Darkseid and somehow it actually makes the tyrant flinch. That made everyone pay attention. And then the blob announces the beginning of the tournament and Darkseid promptly packs up and leaves, leaving the heroes dumbfounded.

So something like this:

The air was rife with tension. All eyes were on Metropolis, at the gaping maw of the portal opening right above the city. The forces of Apokolips were once again invading. Darkseid had declared war.

Earth's heroes stood grim, ready to give their lives in defence of the planet. Their gazes were fixed on Darkseid, standing in front of his army, surveying his opponents. His general stood behind him, primed for combat.

Abruptly the pressure doubled, and the heroes tensed, readying for battle.

Darkseid raised his left hand, to light the spark of war. But before he could bring it down, the space between the two factions, right there in the middle, twisted.

And from the distortion, a titanic, green, humanoid...blob appeared.

The heroes stared. The New Gods stared. The creature did not stare, as it had no eyes, nor did it care.

It then spoke, with a solid, booming voice completely incongruous with its make.

"Uxas of Apokolips!"

The heroes watched in bafflement as their greatest foe jolted.

"The Infinite Realms hereby declares the beginning of the Grand Tourney. You are cordially invited to participate on behalf of Apokolips."

Among the Earth forces, one John Constantine felt dread overcome his body as he realized what exactly was happening. Shit, was it that time of the millennium already?

Captain Marvel seemed to be on the same vein of thought as the Wisdom of Solomon as well as the knowledge of his predecessors filled him in on what was going on.

The Dark members in the know had similar reactions. All across the planet, and in the dimension, magical entities who had tuned into watch the fatal confrontation, felt excitement racing through them as they realized what this meant. Other beings? Not so much.

Batman was cataloguing these strange turn of events carefully. Superman was puzzled but still held himself ready. Green Lantern was trying to figure out why exactly his ring was behaving strangely and giving out sparks. Martian Manhunter was analyzing the curious psionic readings he was getting from the creature.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman however had the dawning expression of recognition on their faces, which did not go unnoticed by their Gothamite colleague.

Surprisingly the Flash was looking at the creature as if it wasn't the first time he saw it. That too was noted by the Dark Knight.

On the Apokolips side however, there were no signs of puzzlement. Instead it looked like excitement was spreading like wildfire through the army, and even Darkseid looked eager.

The creature took note of none of these developments and continued.

"The first event is the Great Hunt. As an invited participant, a hint would be provided to you should you accept".

It bent its great, gelatinous head towards the Apokoliptian ruler.

"Do you accept, Uxas of Apokolips?"

In response, Darkseid stepped forward. "I accept."

And in a flash, before the New God appeared a pitch black card, and the creature announced, "Uxas, Ruler of Apokolips, Participant Number R813."

It straightened to its full height. "Your first hint is on Apokolips, young ruler."

And the next second it was gone, with the same exact warping of space it had come from.

The two factions were left alone, sans eldritch green goop.

Most of the heroes had one thought: What the fuck just happened and did the green goop thing call Darkseid young?"

Darkseid did not waste anytime however. He turned to his army and ordered, "Retreat!"

And just like that the great army filtered back through the portal they had come from, and the mortals heroes of Earth watched, perplexed. They still held themselves at the ready, in case this was all a ploy of some sort, and half of them believed it was. After all, what could make an obsessive tyrant like Darkseid turn back?

A good portion of the heroes were trying to figure out what the Grand Tourney the creature had mentioned was.

And those in the know? Well they knew chaos was incoming.

The portal closed and just like that, Earth lived to see another day. Via interruption by magical goop.

And there you have it! Personally I think a scenario like this is hilarious. Imagine you're on the battlefield, facing a gargantuan, godly army, readying yourself for a battle that could kill you. And then the battle was cancelled cause your opponent had somewhere urgent to be.

I don't have a clear cut idea on what Zeroth Hour is beyond it being a great timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly thing, so any ideas are welcome.

The Tourney only happens once every 100,000 years, and it takes place across the omniverse, on different terrains, different timelines, different dimensions and so on. The card that Darkseid got acts as an access key to tournament sites he doesn't normally have access to. The card also monitors participants and is programmed to hell and back to not allow the participants to misuse it. There are dire consequences if you do.

There are 14 stages in total, and the final, combat stage is conducted in a ever evolving, ever changing battle ground on the edges of the Ghost Zone.

Faerie here is not the Fair Lands in DC, and does not follow the dc fictional mythology.

Infinite Beings do not take part in the Tourney.

The last victor was a half dragon, half god prince from Dimension 976123065. He asked for the opportunity to court Princess Dorothea. It was a reality show moment for the Ghost Zone.

Also some extra details:

The JL would of course come to know what the Grand Tourney is, and then realize that if Darkseid won, he would get the anti-life equation that way. And before they could panic their mind would be blown by the fact that apparently, Darkseid is not likely to win at all, cos there are bigger players in the game.

Constantine would be forced to admit that even if you don't get an invitation, you can still participate if you register. Though you won't get the opening hint or any other boosts until Stage 5. He can't understand why anyone would want to considering that those who do get invitations are on the level of Darkseid and higher.

Batman would insist they check it out.

Constantine would say that he has no idea where the registration office is.

Captain Marvel would chime in that the office was most likely in the Faerie.

Constantine would then insist that they have no business messing around in the Faerie. JL Dark would nod vehemently in agreement.

Batman insists they at least watch the tournament. Constantine gets conned into organizing a watch party.

yu yu hakusho live action adaptation slipped under everyone's radar... we are months away from a category 5 yugioh event (netflix releasing a live action adaptation of the first 7 volumes of the manga only, truncated into 10 half-hour episodes. jounouchi is perfectly cast, but the puzzle has inexplicably been changed into a scarab pendant. miho has an expanded role, but honda dies for real during death-t, which is the season finale and lasts only two episodes. at the end of the season, we get a tease of pegasus, but the most lasting image is of the actor's really bad wig).
