Everybody knows that 3am is the best time to have a crisis

if i’d known that the ventfic that i wrote because i was having some feelings about being asexual would spawn a 34k fic with an actual plot then i’d have made it a multichap from the start instead of a series, but here we are lmao. this is an au of the yotsuba arc in which light realises both that he’s asexual and that he’s kira, told through conversations he and L have at about 3am. there are two possible endings, a happy one and a canon compliant one. i’ve had multiple people tell me that this series has helped them come to terms with their own asexuality, and it means so much to me that something i wrote has been able to help people like that

2. i tried to kill dean winchester and all i got was this lousy t-shirt  - supernatural, gen, background dean/cas, 17k

When Claire and Jack touch the wrong thing in one of the bunker storerooms, they're flung backwards in time, landing in early 2012 in Seattle. Waiting until someone comes to get them should be simple enough, shouldn't it?

supernatural is a fountain of wasted potential, but when i rewatched season 7 of this godforsaken show in early 2021 this particular instance of wasted potential really stuck out to me, and i couldn’t find anything on ao3 fixing it, so i had to do it myself. i also accidentally included a lot of sam introspecting about his decision to lock himself in the cage and how this could be compared to cas’ mental state at this point of the series, which i wasn’t expecting at all when i started writing, but i stand by all of it

this was my first tmrss fic! i was given the fake dating prompt, and at first i wasn’t going to use that prompt because i generally don’t like fake dating stories, but then i started to think about what exactly it is about fake dating that makes me dislike it so much of the time, and then set about writing a fic that did away with the elements i didn’t like. this fic has a heavy focus on communication, honesty, and consent, not just with your romantic partner but with your friends too, and i’m still really proud of it

Euphoria girls character analysis: who I liked best, who I related to the most and who I aspire to be.

This post will contain spoilers. By this post I don't want, by any means, to glamorize, romanticize, normalize or glorify any of the character's situation or behaviour. This is purely my opinion and nothing more than that.*

♡Cassie: I know many people dislike Cassie and I totally get why, as there are many flaws in her character, but I still genuinely enjoyed her. She has a pretty tragic story; she hasn't seen her father in years and her mother is an alcoholic. Because of the absence of a father figure in her life, Cassie tends to fall in love with every guy she hooks up with; unfortunately, most of them don't want anything but sex from her and don't actually want to date her. Most people see her as a slut due to her reputation and she constantly gets objectified and sexualized by the men around her. On top of that, she never managed to achieve her biggest dream: becoming an ice-skater, as her father couldn't afford her lessons. I related a lot to ger character, as we both have self-esteem issues and we are always looking for validation from other people (something I've been working to improve lately). She definitely is a very flawed character, but she has been through a lot and I'm looking forward to her development in season 2!

♡Lexi: I really, really liked her! She is such a sweet and forgiving person and I'm really sad the producers didn't give her more screen-time! Although she doesn't have any major development or importance in the story, I managed to relate a lot to her, as we are both a little shy and awkward when it comes to meeting new people (I have no problem interacting with people I already know, and I can actually be very talkative.) I hope she receives a storyline or her own, maybe involving some romance in season 2!

♡Maddy: Oh boy, I really hate to love her character, but I can't help it! She is good-looking and she knows it, she can charm absolutely any guy into hooking up with her and she mainly focuses on the wild, unpredictable side of life and she always is the life of the party. She doesn't really focus on her future, which I personally think is an issue, as she doesn't have any interests and/or talents, so this is not beneficial for her at all! I also think she is very immature for trying to get back at Nate, despite acknowledging the fact that he is abusive towards her. I also tend to believe that she is slightly selfish (I'm all for being self-preserved and confident, but let's be fair, she didn't care much about her friends' lives), so I totally get why Kat roasted her towards the finale. In spite of all of her flaws, I still appreciate her glamour and sense of style and make-up and I totally aspire to having her confidence one day!

♡Jules: I don't really know where to begin with her character. She was my favourite character in the beginning, but all of the likeability I had her for her went down the toilet in the last two episodes of the series. So, let's start off with the good stuff. First of all, she is one of the most unique characters I've ever seen; from the way she dresses and does her make-up to her overall attitude. Yeah, I know many people might say that she is the embodyment of the manic pixie dream girl, but I personally think that there is so much more to her than just that. Second of all, she has a big heart and I tend to believe that she ignores the duties she has towards her own persona, in order to help others. She knows what suffering looks like; she was thrown into a mental asylum by her own mother when she was 11 and has sex with older men she meets via the Internet every night, putting herself in multiple dangerous situations throughout the season. Unfortunately, what truly made me lose respect for her in the last 2 episodes is the fact that she treats her romantic relationship with Rue in a very superficial manner and even calmly admits to cheating on her while she was visiting her friend. I'm 50/50 about their relationship at the moment; on one hand, they are absolutely adorable together, not to mention that Rue gives up doing drugs because she didn't want to lose Jules; on the other hand, there is too much toxicity coming from Jules and it really,really hurts me. I genuienly hope that she will get her shit together, and eventually get back with Rue in season 2!

♡Kat: Kat is a queen. Period.

Now seriously, she started out as this quirky, nerdy girl who was anonymously famous on the Internet for writing gay 1D fanfiction, though no one really knew her in real life. It's pretty crystal clear from the beggining of the show that her deepest struggle in life is her weight, which she has been bullied for for several years;not only by her classmates, but also indirectly by the principal. I feel like most of her character development is based off of that; but what I truly appreciate about it is the fact that we don't actually see her losing any weight, rather we watch her grow more and more confident in her own body as the series progresses. I think is important to mention, though, that the methods she uses to make herself more confident are not always healthy (she uploads videos of herself on porn sites, videochats and she always seeks for male approval in real life.) She definitely is a very flawed character-but let's be fair, who isn't in this series? (I think it's perfectly fine to like a fucked up character and even "borrow" traits from them, as long as you are aware that certain aspects of their behaviour are not normal.) To sum it up, I love her character growth, as well as overall vibe, and I can't begin to explain how happy I was when she finally kissed that guy from the carnival at prom(I can't remember his name lmao.) Kat deserves the world and more and that's that!

♡Rue: She is, for sure, my favourite character on the show. She is a recovering drug adduct who suffers from general anxiety, OCD, borderline personality disorder and bipolarity, ADHD and depression. I can't even begin explaining how much I lived the show through her character (we all know Zendaya is a queen, but this was outstanding)! Honestly, I wish I could write a more in depth analysis of this character, but the love I have for her is absolutely beyond words, so I suggest you go and watch the show and enjoy her yourself. All I have to say for now is that she has a beautiful character growth and I really wish she was my best friend in real life.

Do you like art, hate it or just not mind it? I love looking at art and can be in museums all day long; but I hate analyzing it and having to read into metaphors or symbolisms. I just appreciate the brush strokes, the colors used...basically the skills and hard work that went into the artwork.

What personality trait does nearly everyone in your family seem to have? Everyone hides their emotions, to a point that it’s unhealthy. No one just wants to address the elephant in the room, which is precisely a part of the problem. I’m 100% certain we are all suffering and fighting our own battles quietly.

a list of every anime i love/recommend, accumulated over the last 10+ years

1. NATSUME YUUJINCHOU 

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

The main character is a teenage boy named Natsume, whose parents died when he was too young to remember them properly. He’s passed around random relatives homes, but because he can see yokai (spirits), he’s ostracized by classmates and his foster families (ALL HIS CHILDHOOD FLASHBACKS ARE SO FUCKING SAD) and eventually very distant relatives (an older couple who never had kids of their own and have so much goddamn love to give D:!!!) take Natsume in, and the story basically starts from there. 

It’s a very heart-warming story following Natsume’s new life in this new town, accepting his ability to see yokai, forging new relationships in the form of friends and family, and even with the yokai themselves. 

This is honestly probably my favorite anime/manga period, because it’s so sad but so cathartic and you watch as the main character grows and learns to trust those around him, and finally gets the unconditional love he’s always deserved, not to MENTION THE FACT THAT THEY DO A WHOLE EP WHERE NATSUME IS TURNED BACK INTO A LITTLE KID AND IT IS SOOOO GOOD OMG

Plus for those of you who enjoy whump, this show has a decent amount of it. Mainly emotional whump, but also some episodes where Natsume is injured or sick--as well as I believe one where his companion (the chubby cat on his shoulder who’s actually a pretty badass yokai) gets shot with an arrow and is down for the count. 

10/10 would and have watched again. 

2. KODOCHA NO OMOCHA 

SUMMARY/REVIEW:  The main character is a sixth grader named Sana. She’s a gifted actress on a t.v. show everyone likes and she’s silly and fun, very intuitive and surprisingly empathetic for a child. 

Her main problem is in school, where Akito, who she deems the leader of her class’ wolf pack of rowdy rude boys, lets them terrorize not just the teacher, but all the girls in class, as well. 

I don’t really want to give a lot away, so I’ll just state the obvious. This anime/manga is shoujo, which means that it does focus on a romantic relationship throughout the series. Mainly the one between Sana and Akito. Sana is absolutely oblivious about her own feelings, while Akito is a stubborn little shit. 

I remember watching this at like, age 12 maybe? And I really enjoyed it because (although I do enjoy your typical silly doesn’t take itself too seriously slice of life shoujo) this particular anime, while super funny and light hearted at times, was also really dramatic and even kinda dark, which was surprising considering the characters ages and the general kid-friendly vibe (especially the opening for the anime). 

3. DETECTIVE CONAN

SUMMARY/REVIEW:  Our main character is initially Shinichi Kudo, teenage detective, who’s on a date with childhood sweetheart Ran (whose father also happens to a detective but like....not a good one lmao), when his nosy ass self decides to go and check out some shady business and gets “poisoned”. 

The poison he’s given is intended to kill him, but what it actually does is turn him back into a child. And now, as Conan Edogawa, (who’s 7 but like....we just supposed to believe all these cops and detectives on the force are cool with a seven year old wee lil babe on these really gruesome ass crime scenes??? lmaoooo) we follow him on his adventures as he solves crimes and tries to solve the biggest mystery of all, his own! 

I absolutely LOVE this anime/manga, even though I’ll be honest, there is SO MUCH FILLER, but I like the characters enough that I really don’t mind. The show is at least 900+ episodes in at this point, and there are a total of 26 movies so far, last time I checked. 

Also, the show is a whump fangirls’ dream come true. The main character is thrown out of windows, balconies, shot at, and in one occasion actually shot, he’s had broken bones, sprains, almost been blown up or drowned/burned, been sick, and oh, his occasional transformations from child to teenager are incredibly painful. 

This show is probably at fault for my love of whump, since it was one of my first animes at like, age 9. smh. 

4. THE DEVIL IS A PART-TIMER!

REVIEW:

I’m not even going to summarize this one. The title does it for me. This is truly one of the funniest animes I’ve ever seen. Motherfuckin Satan works at a McDonalds part time and it is the BEST. 

Technically I would count this show as a kind of harem, but only because there are like three main girl characters after the overlord Satan himself. I usually dislike harem type animes but the way this is done is sooooo good I couldn’t resist. 

I would watch a million filler episodes of Satan trying to solve problems at his minimum wage job tbh. I love every single character, I love the plot, I love everything about this anime! In terms of comedy (with the occasional plot driven serious moments) this is IT bro. 

5. BLACK BUTLER

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

The main character is Ciel Phantomhive (roughly 14 years old). His parents are killed, his house is burned to ashes, and he’s kidnapped (around age 9 or 10 I believe) and abused. During this abuse Ciel calls upon a demon to free him and help him get revenge on those who harmed the Phantomhive household, which is where Sebastian, one “hell of a good butler” comes in. 

We then follow Ciel and Sebastian on their path of vengeance, and along the way we meet Ciel’s human servants, three very clumsy and seemingly bad at their given tasks characters (i love them all), and some of his extended relatives and connections. 

My favorite thing about Black Butler is the art, both in the anime and manga. Everything is so detailed and pretty! 

The characters are interesting, the plot is dark but they manage to make most of the series overall pretty light-hearted and funny in general. Though of course there are chapters/parts of the series that get really grim (which duh, the whole thing focuses on revenge so...) 

I have to say, the arc I enjoyed the most has to be the movie, Black Butler: Book Of the Atlantic. It is beautifully drawn and sooooooo entertaining. 

6. INUYASHA 

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

Our main characters are Inuyasha, a half-demon, who’s been in a sort of spiritually binding coma for the last few decades, and fourteen year old Kagome, who falls into an old well in her family’s shrine and finds herself being transported into another time period. 

Together, she and Inuyasha travel across the lands in the feudal era to find the scattered shards of the shikon jewel, a powerful jewel which grants anyone who possesses it ultimate power. 

I was too young to stay up and watch Inuyasha on adult swim, so my mom would tape the show on a VCR for me to watch the next day after school--yes, I’m old old. lmaoooo I ADORE this show. 

It’s so good! It’s got everything! A tortured lil half-demon with a sad past who’s stubborn and rude but got a good heart! A fierce and equally as stubborn main protagonist, who’s whole ass family knows exactly where she goes off to??? and are supportive af????? like???? her mama packs her and her squad of demon/exorcist/demon hunter pals bentos?!?! lmao i love it. 

The characters are awesome and funny and likable as all heck, and of course they all have their sad backstory, but like, unlike some animes (lookin at YOU Naruto) they don’t go mega overboard on it, at least not without some plot behind the episode. 

7. YU YU HAKUSHO 

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

Before I even start in on the summary, ya’ll should watch this soley bc of the cute ass 90′s style animation alone. LOOK AT ALL THAT SHINY HAIR!

ANYWAY. Main character is teenage hooligan and overall cutie pie Yusuke! He gets struck by a car and fucking DIES in the first episode after shoving a little boy out of the way, only to end up in the spirit world where the head honcho up there (who looks like a wee baby) tells him “Oh shit, didn’t expect you to like, actually do anything self-sacrificing EVER so like, you’re not on our list of people who were supposed to die today...” 

And uh, I don’t wanna give anything away, so I’m just gonna say that if you haven’t seen this anime yet, you definitely should! It’s hilarious and dramatic, the fight scenes are very well done, all the side characters, who eventually become main characters are a blessing (specifically Hiei, who’ve I’ve had a crush on since I was 12) and the ending is a satisfying one, which you can’t really say for a lot of media. 

8. CHRONO CRUSADE 

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

I still get weepy when I think of this anime, so all I’ll say is it’s about a badass demon slaying nurse and her demon companion and some very tragic shit. 

It’s a great anime overall, especially if you like crying yourself to sleep at night :) 

9. GHOST HUNT

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

The main character is high school student Mai, who is hired by Naru, the head of a Shibuya psychic research, and together, with a group of questionable exorcists/psychics, they encounter paranormal phenomenons and some outright scary shit. 

I’m not really a fan of the horror genre tbh but I do like mystery, and the series deals with that quite a bit. They deal with each case for several episodes so nothing feels too rushed. 

The series is really fun in a creepy, wtf is that way. I recommend the manga, only because it’s more detailed in terms of plot than the anime. 

10. ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM 

SUMMARY/REVIEW: 

I didn’t really make this list in any particular order but if I had to say, Assassination Classroom and Natsume Yuujinchou probably tie for BEST ANIME PERIOD! 

This anime is about a weird ass “alien” creature, no one knows where it came from or why tf it’s here on earth, all they know is that in one year it’s threatened to blow the world up. 

His only request to the government is that they let him become a teacher for Class E, the worst class of Kunugigaoka Junior High School, and he will stay put, so that they can attempt an assassination on him during this one year period. 

AND LISTEN! I am a shallow hoe, so I literally never would have read this manga or watched the series had I not been roaming Barnes and Noble one day with my S.O. and picked it up to read as a JOKE! 

I was hooked after the first chapter and I am soooooooo glad I picked this manga up, bc it is absolutely not the type I would normally go for, cover art wise. I finally, after many many years, learned not to judge a book by its cover bc LORD this anime is so goddamn good, you don’t understand! Like, I’ve watched it so many times and still laugh at the same parts, cry at the same parts, am proud af at the same parts! like, this anime is an instant classic and should definitely be more popular than it is.

hi, i was wondering if you had any advice. i moved out of my terrible situation (yay!) & now my days are lighter & so much easier. i have actually seen an improvement in my behaviour & attitude & even self esteem. but i realised i have been avoiding anything trauma-related out of fear of all those ugly emotions. my nightmares have gotten more frequent & i’ve started having flashbacks (which are not what i thought & definitely not fun). i want to see a therapist but can’t at the moment. (1)

i’m aware i’m still an overflowing fountain of unhealthy coping mechanisms and unresolved trauma but once i start thinking abt those things it’s hard to put it ‘back in the box’ and carry on. i know work has to be put into recovery & that it’s hard & awkward & messy, but i can’t do it alone & i know it’ll just fester if i shove it away and ignore it. i’m quite literally between a rock and a hard place. literally any words at all (even just acknowledgement lmao) will be appreciated, ty 💓😌 (2)

Hi, nonnie! First of all, I’m so proud of you for getting out of that situation and for all the improvement you’ve made, and you should be hella proud too 😊

Yeah, recovery is… hard, to say the very least. I’ve been on it for one and a half years now, and there are certain things that I still battle with everyday, things that I must have brought up to my therapist a thousand times, and things I haven’t brought up yet at all because I’m so scared I’ll have to face them if I do. But I can tell you a few things that I’ve learnt!

- Go step by step, one step at a time. When I first brought up a thousand different PTSD symptoms and unhealthy coping mechanisms to my therapist, the first thing she told me is, we can’t possibly fix this all at once, so let’s start with the most pressing issue – you can’t keep skipping meals. Which was a thing I did. So we started there; literally just with me telling myself I can’t keep skipping meals anymore every time I wanted to. This doesn’t mean I haven’t skipped a meal in one and a half years because of my PTSD, but it does mean that the days I do skip meals are now catalogued as bad days. Recovery has bad days, and during those, sometimes I still skip a meal, but now all of these days are separate from every other single day. I’m not a person who skips meals anymore. I’m a person who sometimes has bad days and struggles a bit more to eat. 

- And that applies to every other one of your symptoms. They’re not going to magically disappear one by one, but they can stop being a part of you and become just a part of the bad days you have sometimes, separate from the rest of your life. 

- How to achieve this?

- I don’t understand/remember every single step I’ve taken in my recovery process, but one thing I can tell you is that it’s okay not to think about it. It’s okay not to want to go back to all those ugly emotions. Right now, if I started making a mental list of instances where my mother abused me, I would have an anxiety attack. So I don’t. I’ve talked about this with my therapist, a while ago when I asked her what she thought of exposure therapy methods, and she told me that we already torture ourselves enough with our memories for her to put us back in that situation. It’s okay not to want to go back to those feelings. It’s okay to keep on living your life, create a routine for yourself, make friends and lead a lifestyle that doesn’t include your past trauma. You’re not avoiding anything by moving on! And if you’re worried that you’re burying things that you should probably face, I’m here to say that, in my experience, this is something that you’ll need a therapist’s help with. So there’s no shame in not knowing how to start to face these tings by yourself! As you said, you can’t do it alone!

- Which brings me to my next point: you need people in your life. When you go through trauma it’s normal to isolate yourself, to lose people along the way and lose opportunities to meet new people and to avoid social interation with the people you do know because of anxiety, fear, feeling different, not having experience… During recovery, it’s important that you slowly expose yourself to these tiny life events. Just, the next time a classmate or co-worker or a friend asks you to go for a coffee, or to watch a movie sometime, and you feel like you’d say yes if it wasn’t for fear/lack of experience/anxiety… say yes. (Don’t say yes out of obligation, though, or to do things that you don’t enjoy with people you dislike! This is about you being more and more comfortable having a normal life, not about you pushing yourself to do things/be around people that make you uncomfortable). So even if you don’t face all these giant things that are turning and turning in your mind… do face the tiny things that you feel are like small walls separating you from the rest of the world. Start with the walls that feel easiest to climb. (THIS is the kind of exposure therapy my therapist advocates for! Slowly daring to face things in life that our first insticts tell us we should avoid).

- Reward yourself when you do well, and be kind to yourself when you don’t do so well. Try to train all the voices that say bad things about you to instead say things like “today I did that chore that I’d been postponing! Yay me! I deserve some chocolate.” “Today I couldn’t do this chore! It’s not because I’m lazy; there is a reason behind my struggle. It means I’m not feeling my best right now. I’m going to rest/distract myself/do an easier chore/shower/do whatever I need to do to take care of myself right now (yes, that includes eating that chocolate too) and I’ll try again tomorrow.”

- Try not to spend too much time alone with your thoughts. Read, go out with friends, watch shows you like… fill your day and your mind with things that don’t leave you with hours ahead for you to dwell on your thoughts. Basically this takes me back to that previous point; create a routine, find things and people you like, try new things from time to time. My therapist said spending too much time alone with my thoughts only serves to trigger myself when I could be using that time to do something fun or something I need to do instead!

- It usually takes me from one to two days to completely recover from a flashback. Luckily they don’t happen so often now, because one can’t keep taking days off when they’re continuous. That being said… when you have a flashback, be kind with yourself. Drink water. Take the day slowly. Write “rest” on your to-do list so that literally one of the things for you to do that day is to just rest. Just lie in bed with your phone for a few hours. Ta-da! A to-do thing completed. Sleep plenty. Also, you know when you’re crying and people ask you if you want to talk, or if you want to go somewhere else, and instinctively you know if the answer is ‘yes’ or ‘no’? This happens to me at least; when I’m in pain, it’s like instinct takes over and I don’t need to wonder what I need–my body just tells me. Similarly, when I have a flashback, both during and after it happens it’s like my body is just asking me for things I need. Cover your face, don’t let anyone touch you, stop every noise around you are some of the common ones. And afterwards, it’s usually more like be home alone, lay in bed in the dark, don’t go out, drink water. My advice is to listen to your body. Yes, even if our trauma tells us to stay home it’s important that we jump the small walls; but having a flashback leaves you very vulnerable, and things that are usually tolerable and even enjoyable can turn into a living nightmare; from sounds and lights to having to sit through three hours of lectures to having to talk to people. So when you have a flashback, for a day, avoiding these things if you feel like it’s the best option is okay. 

That’s all I can think of right now! I hope some of this helps you at least a little bit and I hope that you are having a good day today 💗 And please, remember that your comfort and safety always come before my advice; if something I said doesn’t feel right, don’t feel like you have to do it. I’m just one person with one experience, after all! (Also if anyone reading this has their own advice, you’re more than welcome to add it to the post 😊)

Even now, after the big reveal, thinking about how they managed to get perishable food in is pretty interesting. When I’d been speculating originally, most of them involved it being a sealed area with the students/captors relying on them being able to be self-sufficient in some way? There was a lot of greenery, they had machinery, lots of open space to potentially grow things but it also seemed like they had to have been bringing stuff in from outside of the end wall...

But no, it was a show small-scale or truly global is still up to debate but yeah. Assuming this wasn’t a VR world, and considering how we literally managed to figure out that the mastermind was one of the 16 students (that this was a sealed space), they were going to have to get the food in here somehow. That could actually lend well to the idea of it being fine out there, and them having the resources to bring in all sorts of high-quality food for the students? From what I remember, Kirumi was able to create a lot of interesting dishes for them, and even seems to have been able to diversify them based on the likes and dislikes of each students, which seems to imply them having a whole system set up to deliver food on a regular basis, as well as them having the funds to customize as well? Just some food for thought badum tsssh

Seriously, her talent may be one of the few that seem to be engaged at all times. That’s... pretty awful? And all-consuming? I’d say if it works for her it’s okay, but it... really... didn’t, in the end. It led to her making some pretty cold decisions in the end.

i really need to fucking vent about my horrible math teacher! :^)

so this year, i had the liberty of picking and choosing the classes i take in school (in lithuania all 11th and 12th graders have that) and i chose math level B (the easier course) just so i could run away from my past math teacher, who teaches math level A. that teacher is a mightmare on her own, but not only that, she has a personal grudge against me, stemming from what believe i said 4 YEARS ago( u can ask what it was it was quite funny) so this year i was hella happy and excited to have wiped her from my life. well... she had the nerve to ask the teacher in charge of my class why she didn’t see me in her class this year, because i was ‘a promising student’. OKAY FIRST OF ALL YOU OLD HAG. YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHY. even my classmates, when they learned i’m being invited back, joked that she’s inviting me because there’s nobody left to torment in her class.

she alone has caused me to lose so much of my self-confidence over the past 5 years, so much mental and psychological pain and just plain STRESS. like, when you step in a classroom, i don’t think this heavy feeling of ‘something bad is going to happen. she’ll probably embarass me in front of the class again or write me another f’ should befall on you and YOU alone.

so the teacher in charge of me (whom i love with all my heart and soul) tells me my math teacher wants me back. i make it clear to her i do not want to go back. so she calls my mom, and tells her all the benefits of me going back. mom knows i hate the teacher, but she agrees that i’m too smart for the easy math course. and i agree. i know that i am, i’m a smart fucking cookie, but.. it just doesn’t seem worth it. all the nerve wracking, the pushing. it’s just too fucking much. i never disliked school, i don’t mind it. i don’t particularly hate math either, it’s fine. but that one single teacher somehow controls all my opinions on it for years now, and i don’t think i can handle it anymore. i tell all this to my lovely teacher. the next day, unconsulted with me, she transfers me back. i fucking cried in the school bathroom at 8am because it felt like the sky was fucking falling (which is dramatic, admittedly, but i cry very easily lol).

god, i don’t think i can handle 2 more years of shaming from her. she obviously dislikes me personally, like... all my classmates know, and agree with me (some even come in my defense when needed lol). last year my friend literally had to defend me against her because her rage on me, in that situation, clearly wasn’t justified. like, it’s come to that point where her dislike towards me is so obnoxious and unreasonable, our class mocks it out of her classroom. and her dislike in me shows on paper, also. last year my grades suffered so much just because she would find opportunities to write me a bad grade. ya’ll have no idea. last year my math grade was barely out of the F zone, because she made sure not to let me fix the bad grades she gave me (when, to others in my situation, she did) she gave me so much shit (in front of the whole class, mind you), saying that i wouldn’t pass my math exam. i passed it with a result in the top 10 in school. and i didn’t study at home at all. that result came from all the knowledge i accumulated in class. but my grade was so low, right?.. it just doesn’t fucking add up. she’s so damn delusional and evil it’s whack,, like, it’s ridiculious how blatant her favoritism and dislike is. last year, in the entirety of math class all my head was playing was the ‘is this allowed??’ vine

Radical Opinion: I suspect Kodaka isn't smart enough to write a Big Bad who isn't trying to lose. While I love Junko and V3 首謀者, the gaps in the armor have become much clearer after 4 iterations of the same killing game with the gift-wrapped clues and sloppiness on the Big Bad's part. Thoughts?

I actually answered an ask within a day or two of receiving it, this is like a new record for me, haha. Going under a read more mostly for sheer length of response, nothing new to see on this blog. I think I also need to hire a script editor like Kodaka desperately needs to do... There are V3 spoilers here as well, be warned.

It’s an intriguing question, though! I would probably wager as well that the reason we’re sticking to the formula for self-defeating masterminds is because it’d be incredibly difficult to write a scenario where the mastermind is actually trying to genuinely win whilst having the survivors eventually out-gambit them in order to forcefully end the game before the mastermind achieves their goals, in a way that doesn’t come across as either: Mastermind is a complete moron who overlooks obvious evidence that chain-starts their downfall, or the survivors get handed Deus Ex Machinas in order to win. I kinda don’t blame Kodaka on this one if I’m honest, haha. I feel dirty saying that...

But yeah, I’d also want to see this changed up in an (inevitable) future DR game. I definitely want less lucky coincidences for evidence reveals for a start. Actually have the survivors work towards finding their evidence and analysing it to find out the mastermind’s identity/goals. You’ve discussed this a lot on your own blog but I gotta agree that the Mother Monokuma thing in V3 is SUPER contrived, haha. Even if the intention was that V3 首謀者 deliberately is leaving evidence around, that was still a stretch. There are like so many ways you could improve that whole thing god. Junko was never bad at deliberately losing, jeez! 

Junko and V3 首謀者 are my favourite characters in the whole series regardless though, I think the fact they both try to lose makes them pretty great multi-faceted characters, and I ain’t denying the fact that they’re both EVIL as shit, but I’d actually really be interested in a villain character who is actually just flat-out... monstrous and running killing games purely because they enjoy the spectacle of betrayal/bloodshed, with no deeper philosophy/audience behind it that has them basically allowing themselves to lose. I want a mastermind who is actually out for blood and wants to ensure their game only ends with either one person standing or everyone dead.

This sounds like it’d be a very two-dimensional mastermind but I think there are ways you could make them an interesting character in their own right. For example, you could have them conduct a killing game with a group of people that all knew each other (including the MM) beforehand, with no memory tampering. All of them were extremely close in the past but have grown apart over the years due to a variety of factors (distance, beliefs, increasing dislike of certain people, etc) so most people hadn’t spoken for YEARS before killing game. So then you’d have a lot more relationship dynamics that you don’t really get with the current DR formula. And then you’d actually get a mastermind who actually had a personal bond with the cast, rather than basically being a stranger. And therefore makes the Reveal more shocking and horrific. 

I know Junko was a fellow classmate of the DR1s, but memory tampering yo. She was basically a stranger to the survivors during the game itself. She’s absolutely a stranger to the DR2 cast (no thanks to DR3 blowing up the idea she was supposed to have courted every character into her cult...) as well. Monaca interacts with Komaru once before the endgame, Tengan... hates his coworkers and has no close relationship with them obviously. V3 DOES attempt to have the 首謀者 be someone who forms a personal bond with the other survivors the entire game... but I think we both agree that game does a shitty job portraying that aspect, since they’re basically a non-entity until the end, haha. Okay I think what I mostly want is a mastermind who is actually a close friend to the other characters the whole game, to be on a completely different tangent as usual... :B

Back to the actual topic, I really do want to see a DR scenario where the survivors actually have to work together to genuinely out-smart the mastermind at their own game, rather than just stumbling into the final trial forcefed answers as well yeah. Mostly, I want a break from the now standard “rival character concocts a crazy scheme on their lonesome nobody could have predicted designed to end the killing game, but it actually amounts to jack shit and does nothing in the grand scheme of things” formula we get in Chapter 5. Because ironically that shit is now HELLA predictable. This probably ties back into actually wanting this series to be the ensemble story it advertises itself as. Give me the MC and rival, or w/e combo, working together in secret after getting over their differences to fuck shit up for the MM, and have the others gradually get clued into the plan as the trial/chapter goes along. Maybe with some POV switching while we’re at it as they make their realizations? But for longer than 2 minutes, pls.

TL;DR - Basically like we always say/agree about, this series needs to actually start twisting its formula for real, and having a mastermind actually gunning for the win, and survivors actually having to work together and figure out their situation without spoonfeeding would be an excellent change along those lines. I’d absolutely be interested in a more ruthless mastermind who absolutely wants to win their game at all costs. But LMAO it’s Kodaka who I now don’t expect anything new from anymore. New writer for the series whilst he’s on break, pls??

Looks and Personality

What do you look like? I tick all the marks of a Filipina - kinda tiny, black eyes, morena, flat nose. I’m on the slender side, have thick, wavy hair that gets frizzy when it’s hot, and huge thighs when I sit down.

How often do you bathe? I don’t really have a constant schedule. I take a bath everyday when I have school; I could take a bath everyday especially during summer; but I can also opt to do it every other day when I feel lazy/when it’s colder.

How do you wear your hair? Down, low ponytail, high ponytail, or in a bun depending on what I’m wearing.

What colours do you tend to wear? Black, white, and any muted shade. I have very little color in my wardrobe.

Do you have any tattoos? What, where and why? Nope. I had always wanted to have a ton until I realized I was scared of needles.

What kind of clothes do you wear? My style is a mix of classy and trendy, so I’ll wear little black dresses with flats but I can also sometimes wear a simple top with culottes or long dresses paired with sneakers. Idk, depends on my mood for the day really.

What kind of jewelery do you wear? I’ve stopped wearing jewelry. The two necklaces Gab got me already broke and I haven’t had them replaced with any new ones. Not a fan of rings and I don’t really have bracelets.

What do you wear to bed at home? The thinnest clothes I could find, because it gets really hot. Tank top and shorts will do, but sometimes I’d opt for a tank top and just underwear.

Hshssksh Kate poured me a cup of coffee last week and her mix was SO good omg it was 2 packets of cream, 1 packet of sugar, and it can take or leave milk. I’m so excited about this because I never learned how to make coffee that wasn’t just the instant one that does all the work for me. Now I finally feel like a grown-up hahahahaha

What’s your favourite dessert?  Chewy chocolate chip cookies, macarons, cheesecake, and souffles.

What’s your favourite type of food (e.g Mexican)? Indian and Korean. Japanese is a runner-up.

Do you have any mental problems? Yes. I don’t have the time, the money, and the courage to get myself checked and so I just try to get by and get better everyday.

Do you have any phobias? What? Why do you think you have this/them? Cockroaches, needles, and roller coasters. Cockroaches are fucking ugly and we had a lot of them (flying ones!) in our old house; needles are sharp and they hurt; and as for the last one, I generally get bad motion sickness but the whole phobia thing got worse when I had a particularly bad experience on a roller coaster in Singapore.

Why might somebody dislike you? I’m super nice but I’m not denying that I can snap whether it’s warranted or not. I come off a little strongly and it might rub people off the wrong way.

What skill do you possess that you are most proud of? Seeing things through. Like if I want something to work, I do it and I make it work. I hate failure and I like looking like I get a lot of work done.

Where were you born and raised? I was born in Manila and raised in a city a little east of Manila.

Briefly describe your family. We’re five in the immediate family - my mom and dad have been married for 22 years and I have a younger sister and brother. I don’t talk to my brother anymore after an incident a few months ago; my sister and I are generally close. I have three grandparents that are still alive, but I’m generally closer to my grandma on my mom’s side since she lives nearer. I have 11 cousins but the number just gets so much bigger if you count second- and third-degree ones.

You must choose one - your childhood was calm/peaceful or tragic/turbulent? It was both, honestly. Since I lived with extended family growing up, I had relatives with drinking and violence problems on one side, but also relatives who strove to protect us from them and tried to give us a normal childhood. I can’t really pick one for you, because I experienced both.

Did you have any role models? I looked up to wrestlers from a very early age. Shawn Michaels and Lita were my childhood favorites.

What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you? [Trigger warning: suicide] Attempting suicide multiple times, summer 2017.

How did it affect you? [Trigger warning: suicide] Profoundly. I wouldn’t have met my orgmates if I succeeded, because I only joined my college org after the attempts. At the time I did it, I had no friends in college so looking back on it can feel surreal. I also realized that I am scared of myself knowing that I’m capable of physically getting to that point.

Have you ever had any recurring nightmares or themes in nightmares? When my depression was a lot worse two years ago, I would always get dreams of either me or Gab dying. It was always either of us getting shot.

rip stevie :( in the aftermath of that tribal that legit just felt like one massive personal attack i decided to go do some homework bc something felt off to me!! madison was out there whining about OMG BEING IN THE WARZONE THE WHOLE TIME BOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO and yet lmao she's either been "excused" or gotten a strike for deadass just not doing the challenges. the jig is uP! i think it's fairly obvious people are just using the warzone as a way to build relationships and i mean who can blame them, but her whole pity party at these tribals needs to stop. my mood towards her has definitely soured in the last hour lol i'm over it  fam. also i've been talking to ian since the tribal to get some tea since tommy is legitimately useless. i'll like ask him what happened at tribal and he literally just goes "oh i just heard his name from everyone" shrug emoi LIKE!! WOULD IT KILL YOU TO FIND SOME MORE TEA OUT... anyways i find out from ian that cullan apparently brought up that they should target timmy for challenge prowess, to which ian said he shot down due to that being a slippery slope which soon leads to him. if that's true i'm v glad that that got shot down bc that's, in my mind, a shot fired at me. Well this is a crucial immunity. After being out of the war zone for 2 in a row I feel at this point I am a little outside the people who have been there so many times. I think I have some strong bonds with some players but I do not that a couple have it out for me. Namely Madison and Jacob, which at this point I fed they should be over the whole Renee vote but that’s their prerogative. 

Sooooo Final 15 baby! Honestly Im so proud of this time around on my TS journey cause Im actually liking the individual competition portion of this game. Its like the merge part of any Survivor game but with a "tribal competition" aspect. Meaning that I only have to worry about me, myself, and I and I love that. Hello! I am safe again, 2nd time in a row? Idk. I do like Kait but I don't entirely trust her. I think I can use her for a bit as she'll believe she's using me. If I have the chance to get her out before or early merge, I will. Thomas is the most boring person in this game. I have yet to meet Timmy but I doubt anyone can beat Thomas in this feat. Talking to him is like talking to a wall. A white wall too. Also, he has no manners, demands favours and doesn't say please or thank you... The second I have the chance, he's gone. Nehe should've stayed, not him. Otherwise, Ian and I are working on some kind of power together for battleship. I really do like Ian. I hope we can make it far together, he's my number 2 after Owen. Together, we have the Topaz Idol and a potential save vote and a potential new power. Maynor and I have been socializing and friendly, I want him gone sooner than later but he's not a priority. He isn't great in comps generally. Still love Trace and I do trust him to an extent. I dislike Stephen, would like to see him leave relatively soon. I don't trust him at all. On the other side, Matt is going to tribal and him and I have built quite a bit of trust previously, I hope he makes it. I'm happy Cullan and Owen and Adrian are safe as I trust all 3 to certain extents. I would like Timmy to go due to his comp prowess and due to the fact we have yet to interact, but he's immune, again. I hope Chloe makes it out okay. I also hope Devon makes it out alive. I love that guy. I think Devon, Chloe, Trace and Ian can work together though! Matt could join with them as him and Devon were big parts of the Renee vote. Madison and Maynor, who were both left out of that vote, could see their way out which is A-okay by me. Jacob was also left out of this vote but I think Ian won't target him, just my two cents. I see Jacob as a better ally for me down the road compared to Madison or Maynor. That being said, I like many people in this game. I think my social game is strong. I do need to be careful with my words as some may catch on. And I may find myself at tribal with 7 ppl I like. I have my hierarchy of allies in my mind and I know who's at the bottom of my totem poll, I just hope I can get those who aren't even on it out first. I'm also a comp threat. Usually, I can lurk in the shadows more easily but with the dynamic and my low level of comfort with risk, competition prowess combined with my social game, though flashy, is what I'm betting on to keep myself safe. Owen and Kait and Timmy's competition prowess outshines mine and people peg Madison as the socialite who throws/does not complete comps to be in warzone. As long as there are some who play flashier than me, I'll be okay. Until next time!

I found a Rock Saver with the help of Corey, chill but I'm more than happy to send that over to him the second I'm back from warzone.  That is such a situational power and there aren't really alliances yet to risk rocks for, but when there are it will be within Corey and I's power to use.  Again, I'll play the idol to survive if I need to, but I'll do everything I can to prevent having to play it at f16, the jury doesn't care about what happens in the premerge portion of the game.

I so so so do not want to be here at Warzone again. This vote is probably the most complicated thus far because at this point I need a lot of things to go a very specific way in order for people to not realize I’m in the middle. Devon trusts me and wants to go with Ian’s plan to vote our Madison or Jacob and Madison and Maynor want to vote Ian which I would also like. However at this point I need to make everyone happy and the odds of doing that are so slim. I just have to convince Maynor wnd Madison to vote Jacob or Devon to vote Ian and neither one is the path of least resistance. I’m on the path of MOST resistance and by path I mean 1 inch wide tightrope suspended over hungry sharks.

I was not that surprised when I got voted out. I did not expect it because voting out Stephen did in fact seem like a plausible option and i felt that between him and myself it was kinda similar. It was believable that he would be voted off, but I totally understand why I was voted off. The interesting part about it to me is I think I was the least connected person in the game and I can see how that can get dangerous in merge because those people can flip a lot, but right now I thought it might've been a good opportunity to gain me as a number. I think this tribal was my first interaction with Trace and Ian. I did like them and I liked talking to them and I think I had potential to work with them if the plan of voting me out wasn't already in place. There were a few people I did not talk to that round because i didn't think I should've had to reach out to EVERYONE in order to talk to them. I just think there are alliances that have formed that i am not a part of because the decision-making for these votes is kinda weird and I don't always understand the motives. So to me an alliance i am not a part of makes the most sense. I was very excited about the lagoon though. I am hoping I get a chance to come back because that would be lit. I just need to stick it out through these votes and I am hoping Renee is connected to at least one of the other three so we can stay. Kinda glad Nehe is gone. I think he was bad for my game

I'm definitely going to see at least one vote tonight, I'm nervous about it because if people flip on me instead of voting Jacob I'll be dead to rights because I will not play my idol unless another idol is played. My thought process is that if I need my idol to save myself from a majority vote tonight then I wasn't bound to go far in this game anyway. Today has been quiet but people have brought up that Jacob and Madison are a strong duo. Matt was able to put the target on Jacob. It could be a 4-4 tie but Matt Madison n I might just go with majority and vote Jacob.

As per usual, I have no idea if I made a confessional about this or not. I can’t believe I won immunity, like I didn’t even have computer access. And i got 3rd so i had some margin to be safe (granted Adrian got 4th with one second more than me but still). That was the first time I did the puzzle because my other times were worse. If I was doing it on a computer my time would’ve been so much better so idk what happened with everyone else. And today Owen messaged me saying he feels kind of fucked because he hasn’t been to tribal in ages, which might be true but also he can probably win a lot of immunities come merge and people like him. I’m happy to work with him right now because we both have a lot of challenge wins but honestly I want him to go earlier on in merge because he is good at getting quick social connections.

oof mama, what a round this is panning out to be. First of all, I felt personally victimized by that challenge. The Ard tribe is full of some SERIOUS competitors, and that's the reason that I will most likely continue to show up at these stupid war zones until we merge. Fucking Kait has made it this far without going to the war zone at all, which is putting SUCH A LARGE target on her back. bUt whatever, it's just frustrating being on a tribe of people that probably do online puzzles for fun. So this round is interesting. After last round's unanimous vote, I feel a lot more comfortable working with certain people in the game. Ian has kind of solidified his spot as my number one in this game (more to come about that too). He came to me and was like we NEED to make a move against Madison/Jacob. He said he knows that Madison is a challenge threat, but is purposely trying to lose the challenges so that she can make connections with people in the war zone. Though he had made some points, I really don't think Madison is that smart to figure out how to do that. I really just think she is busy/not prioritizing and keeps showing up here. She seems pretty innocuous. That being said, she has become a bit of a social threat, slipping by all of these rounds without having to really do much. BUT, I do trust her and don't want her to be sent packing quite yet. Jacob, her star sign partner, on the other hand, can go. He doesn't talk at all, and when he doesn't they're boring one word answers. So I had pretty much set my heart on Jacob even though he is on our tribe, making my chances higher of showing up here if we keep doing the war zone format. To make matters more interesting, I talked a bit more to Matt this round and he told me that Madison and Jacob were gunning for Ian this round. Madison claims she is good with voting for Jacob, but everyone else says they seem to be a strong pair. I went straight to Ian with this and then he TOLD ME HE HAD AN IDOL. Honestly I am so happy to know he has it and not someone against me, because that's going to be some great information to have later on down the road. I think he is really paranoid, but at this point I just really cannot tell who is lying and telling the truth. I am hoping that people are being truthful and going to actually vote for Jacob, but I am trying to figure out who exactly has been saying Ian's name. It's ultimately going to be up to him whether he wants to play the idol this round but oof, if I were him, I'd be sweating. SO we shall see, but lord knows I'm shaking in my loafers!
