Time travel stories are just so human. People are defined by our choices, by our memories, by the events that shape us. Something bad happens, and we have to deal with the consequences. Time marches ever onward.
But what if you did have the power to change things? To go back in time and stop terrible things from happening? Time travel stories always have the conversation of what the unintended consequences might be - the butterfly effect and all that. And often changing the past means changing not just your own life, but everyone else’s life too.
And yet, how could you not change things? Do you really have another choice? If I have the power to stop something bad from happening, don’t I have a moral responsibility to do that? They say that the evil you know is better than the evil you don’t, but is that really true? Things were bad once, but they don’t always have to be.
And then there’s the side-effect of realizing what good things might disappear. Seeing the beauty that formed despite the horror and pain. Time travel is a dangerous gamble, and yet one that we cannot help but make time and time again.
It’s about having extra-human power but making the flawed (thoroughly human) choice. It’s about how every small act of kindness matters. It’s about the hope that maybe this time, things will be not only different, but better.

Screw terfs n all but are you normal about transgirls who don't want to medically transition? Are you normal about transguys with boobs who don't wear binders? Are you normal about the trans people who only want to socially transition because that's what's right for them? Are you normal about the transgirls with beards? one thing abt thalia and percy's dynamic that is often overlooked is that percy was punished for the same things thalia was rewarded for. there's a prophecy abt one of the big three kids? percy is treated like a liar and thief and ppl refuse to talk to him. thalia? everyone respects her (including gods!) and assumes she'll do a great job saving the world. thalia is accepted immediately at camp and threatens the place percy spent two years proving he deserves. percy wants to go on a quest to save his friend? he's an attention seeker and glory stealer. thalia? well, she's the obvious choice. thalia comes up w a plan to win capture the flag that's basically "leave everything to me" and percy comes up with a plan that's basically "if you see a good opportunity, go for it," but percy is viewed as the control freak.
what i'm saying is percy had every reason to resent thalia and he didn't. he chose not to. and thalia had every reason to look down on percy and didn't.
even when they were fighting, i never saw it as a power struggle. they were being pit against each other, and instead of doing what everyone expected them to (kronos was fully expecting thalia to kill percy), they chose to love and respect each other. because they're not their parents. they're just two kids who started cracking under the pressure but refused to break.

The way that Percy looks at Annabeth when she admits to stealing Hermes keys 🥹
He’s so impressed. Not just because of her skills, but because she stole from one of the gods.
Annabeth is only just starting to break away from the unwavering adherence to the rules of respecting the gods. The first time we saw her do that was talking back to Hephaestus in Episode 5, when Percy was frozen in gold. He’s never seen her willingly do something that could be counted as disrespectful to the gods and he’s so proud of her for it.

I like how even when Arthur's life is literally being threatened, he's still being a brat about it. The all-powerful keeper of the unicorns tells him the rules to a test that could make or break his entire kingdom and he's all "What kind of a ridiculous test is that!?!? What does that prove" and then makes this face
Like this is why people wanna kill you babe

actually the princess bride had it wrong. true love does happen every day because love is a constant choice. You fall in love with someone and then you wake up every day and choose to love them again, still, forever.
