Just found out about ESSA's and so happy there is a word and community for something we have been doing since being very young /vpos

I would love to be actually in the community and have gear and a sitting/standig plushie but also I know we have extremely big problems with spending money on something for ourselves and knowing we barely leave the house due to all the disabilities and being scared to use the items (toys) we buy because of extrem Panic over it... But I know we would benefit and enjoy it sooooo much... If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them! ^^

Phrases like "some pain" and "temporary hardship" downplay the severity of the situation. Seriously, Elon Musk was quoted as saying that last phrase. However, history reminds us that such language can be misleading.

The Great Depression, which lasted over 10 years, is a prime example. By definition, it was indeed a temporary hardship – but one that had a profound impact on generations. This historical context urges us to think critically about the language used to describe economic challenges. We must consider the potential consequences of such actions and demand transparency.

As American citizens, in fact, all of the world, it is essential to remain vigilant and informed. We should scrutinize the information presented, question the language used, and seek diverse perspectives. Only by doing so can we make informed decisions and prepare for the potential outcomes of this chaotic situation.

Solar Generator Acquired!

Hey everyone! I've been sorta out of contact lately bc a lot of stuff has been going on. A friend through my local SRA chapter has graciously allowed us to crash on his urban homestead - a quarter acre of land and assorted buildings (and his house) just north of downtown Reno. We're attempting to cost him as little as possible and to that end, he's allowed us (for a few days) to stay in his little 10-foot travel trailer before pitching our tent in a protected spot in his backyard, and he's letting us use his shower and water in exchange for working a little on the homestead and keeping an eye on his kids when he has to run quickie errands. He has the trailer hooked up to a Jackery Explorer 500 and a little off-brand 100w portable solar panel.

He has expressed a desire to upgrade to a Jackery Explorer 1000 v2, because he wants to install a little water heater in the trailer, and the 500 can't quite keep up with it. I mentioned that I have been wanting something similar to his 500 so we could have power even in the tent without costing him money, and also anywhere else we go in the future (and when we're housed, for keeping in the car for emergencies and such). He told me that the Jackery solar panels are good but overpriced and you can find good clones, but the power stations are really good.

Yesterday, I got an email that Jackery was having a pretty major sale for Mother's Day and bemoaned the fact that I have zero money rn. He got excited and then said he couldn't justify buying the 1000 even though it's on sale for like $450. I said the 500 is on sale for $300 rn so if he'd be willing to wait until the end of the month, I would buy the 500 from him and said sure, $200 good? And I said yes. He said we can work it off or pay him. It may be some combo of the two but either way, I have a solar generator!

So now I am the proud owner of a Jackery Explorer 500!

Now I need a solar panel. He'll let us use the one he has now but it's his and I'd like my own, obviously! I found one on Amazon that's perfect. It's only a little over a hundred, but it goes on sale regularly!

I think we'll be able to afford this come payday, but that's 3 weeks away. If anyone feels like donating towards a semi-normal lifestyle for us while we sort this all out (of course, y'all have helped a ton already and I super appreciate it. So fkn much. Soooo fkn much!) the panel is on our wishlist, and I can accept a few bucks here and there via Cashapp, PayPal, and Chime. All of my tags on those apps are $NovasPrime.

Speaking out because I will always go to bat for fanfiction writers. People seem to forget that writing is a HOBBY. It’s not a 9-5, you don’t sit at your desk and crank out chapter after chapter for 8 hours. You first GO to WORK, come home, take care of your responsibilities and if you’re lucky enough not be absolutely drained and exhausted you might write a little bit. But there’s so much more than just writing involved in fanfic. You need to proofread and edit and think about how this chapter connects to the last chapter and how it connect to the next chapter, every single chapter.

Add to your stock standard fanfic day of work, American government is at a very precarious place right now, with even its democracy and Constitution facing threats from its billionaire funded president. I’m from Australia and STILL worry and feel the effects of this presidency.

Sprout, love, you take all the time you need to write whatever you want to, whenever you want to. You are not a machine or monkey chained to a computer. You are a living breathing human being with a life and responsibilities and feelings all of your own. And you deserve respect for that. As well as a patient and understanding and loving fanbase which the majority of us are. Sending you all the love and positive vibes right now. Stay strong chickabee, you can do this.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful. It's immensely flattering to have the following I do and capture folks' imaginations and interest with my writing. I am so grateful for the thousands of comments I've received over the years.

I'm just in a mood tonight. Little snapshot into my life: The hiring freezes for govt workers here in the US came true, as I knew they would, and I'm seeing dozens of colleagues and former classmates get job offers rescinded out from under them. I currently don't know what that means for my job offer or start date pending my background check (as it is with a contractor and not federal), but I would not be incredibly surprised if my position ended up the same way.

After struggling 6 months to get a single interview I'm just exhausted, I feel my depression rearing up again, and I'm stuck in this trough of trying to write to bring some joy back into my life- only to realize I hate every word I type. So forgive me for being a little curt with my psa.

I'm doing my best. I really am. Thank you.

I’d have to imagine that both Ryan and Min-Gi grew up poor, the Akagis being a big family that struggles to accommodate for 5 children, the Parks being first generation immigrants who struggled to find jobs in a mostly white country. Ryan was the kind of kid who would feel frustration with his financial situation, but he learned to work with what he had and not complain because it’s not like him being upset would fix anything, right? Then Min-Gi had the bulk of the burden thrust onto him because he was at a greater advantage than he parents, being a born Canadian citizen and all. He was made to work himself to the bone to not only be independent for himself, but to help his family too. He carried the stress of his family on his back his entire life, so allowing himself to be selfish and pursue his own happiness over financial stability is something he’s just not allowed to think of at all. Meanwhile Ryan, while not financially stable, still can feel more at ease about taking the leap of faith because he’s never had to be the sole provider for his family. He’s allowed to be the disappointing son, he’s expected to be, and while he’s definitely not okay with that, it definitely explains why he isn’t looking at running away with the same fear that Min-Gi is
