roygarth headcanons and motifs?
Okay I wanna just give a disclaimer that I am not a Garth expert, I've only really read him in Titans comics (though I did read Tempest 1996 specifically for this ask), also Roygarth isn't my OTP, I do ship it but it's not something I've thought about in great length, so my apologies if I've gotten Garth's character wrong or if my interpretation of the ship is different to yours/OOC. Also I've not made any in depth ship posts before, I'm more of a passive observer of ships, so apologies if this sucks ass generally.
For it to work in canon, a very strong aspect of it would have to be communication. Roy doesn't always pick up on when he's done something that's upset someone, and Garth can become quite vocally angry if someone upsets/hurts him. I really wish that the progress they'd made in Titans (1999) #16 was expanded on in later comics because I think if they got past that initial barrier of miscommunication they could have such a good relationship. They're actually pretty similar in some ways, they both love very strongly and are fiercly protective of the people they love, but there are differences, too. Roy's very much an immediate reactor in a lot of cases, he reacts immediately when something upsets him and forgives just as fast, whereas Garth can let things fester/build over time and then eventually lash out in a much angrier way, so communication is definitely the most important aspect.
I don't think that they'd ever be the perfect honeymoon couple, there are always gonna be some things about both of them that drive each other insane. I can't see Roy completely dropping all the teasing, and I also can't see Garth suddenly becoming totally okay with it because Roy's explained he's only kidding. However, I do see it becoming more of an exasperation rather than actually pissing him off, and if they were to get closer I could see it becoming more mutual, good-natured teasing. I also think that they'd get better at resolving arguments too, and that they wouldn't escalate as far once a mutual level of trust's been built up. I think Garth kinda has an expectation that people are out to get him sometimes or that they underestimate his worth, so once that's been addressed and Garth's assured that Roy has no ill-will or negativity towards him then he'd be less likely to lash out and more understanding that that's just Roy's way of showing affection.
It's absolutely a slowburn relationship that would take a lot of time to develop. They're not gonna wake up one morning and realise they love each other and should date. I think, if anything, Cerdian would be a really good way for them to actually fall in love with each other (let's say for the sake of this, Cerdian's fine and Garth and Dolphin split up). I think being able to bond over being parents would absolutely open new opportunities for their relationship, and one of the things Roy looks for in a romantic partner is how well they get along with Lian, so another parent would definitely be a good choice of partner for him, especially since Garth already adored Lian even before Cerdian was born and he and Roy had their talk in purgatory. Plus them co-parenting Lian and Cerdian would be adorable.
I still think that the nicknames would persist, but they'd definitely become more terms of affection as they entered a relationship. Maybe not Gill-head specifically since Garth's explicitly stated he doesn't like that one, but other affectionate fish-related ones for sure. Also they'd keep calling each other Speedy and Aqualad affectionately.
Aaand from a more fanon-y perspective, I think Roy'd definitely be the one to initiate much of the physical affection. I 100% see him as a hugger, so I can imagine him just pulling Garth into hugs or dragging him over to the sofa to cuddle. Garth I can see as more of a spontanious kisser. Both of them go bright red whenever the other surprises them with affection. Also they should do the percabeth underwater kiss.
Anyway this is a family

How do the gods interact with you? How do you know they approve/disapprove of a particular offering or action? How does that mutual connection that a lot of people talk about manifest?
This is a huge question to unpack because it really depends based on what you're looking at. Mediterranian, Celtic, Asian, etc.
I would love to answer your question and I've been pondering for a couple days on how to answer this question. I think the best I can do for now is talk about *my* experience and *my* perspective as a Hellenic Polytheist and just keep in the back of your brain that this is not universal whatsoever.
I'm gonna go a bit out of order with your question. I'll answer your third question first, then your second question, and then finally the first one. Hope that makes sense!
In Hellenic Polytheism, the basis of maintaining relationships with the gods is referred to as kharis. While there isn't one definition as this word isn't exactly translatable in English, the best I can describe kharis is the act and upkeeping of cyclical reciprocity. You give time, worship, offering, love, etc. to the gods and they give in return. Your kharis to the gods is not built on wanting things from them but rather loving them unconditionally.
But how do you know this cycle of kharis is being maintained on the god's part? If part of kharis is maintained with offerings, how do you know they accepted the offering?
In Ancient Greece, a lot more could be done. Specifically by looking at the remains of sacrificed animals to see if they were perfect. If they were imperfect, that meant the gods didn't accept the offering. However, for several (hopefully obvious) reasons, this isn't done any more and shouldn't be done anymore. Aliakai has a great video explaining why animal/meat offerings shouldn't be done anymore. Note that this is the opinion/beliefs of some helpols, not all. Some still choose to sacrifice meat product and that's totally okay, that doesn't make them any less of a helpol! But what does this have to do with anything?
Well, if we can't figure out the god's approval that way, what can we do instead? Feel happy!
When giving an offering, if you feel happiness, an overwhelming sensation of joy, or just overall positivity, then that's the gods expressing their happiness with you. Think of the Kharites and how they're the personification of happiness and joy if that helps. However, if you don't feel anything or feel negativity about the offering, chances are that's the god(s) disapproving of the offering.
Something to note here is that feeling anxiety does not automatically mean it failed. As someone who has a big problem with always feeling anxious and wondering "am I doing the right thing?" feeling that anxiety in the back of the brain can be worrying as you begin to spiral and wonder if it all failed and if it's your fault. The answer is no. I've noticed that when I cleanse myself prior to ritual/prayer/offering, it helps my brain calm down and I'm able to shelf away my anxiety-ridden thoughts for the time being. However, I know that won't work for everyone. The best I can say is that as long as you feel happiness or joy somewhere, that's the gods approving of the offering. Once you get that message for the first time, the anxiety quickly becomes less and less with each additional offering you give to the gods over time.
We now look at the first question. How do the gods interact with you? This varies from person to person, but there are several ways they can contact you and speak with you:
Divination (ex: tarot cards, oracle cards, psephoi, etc.)
Symbols connected to the god in question appearing (sun rays filling your house despite being cloudy earlier, sudden rain or thunderstorm, spider in your room, rainbows, butterflies flying around you, etc.)
Sensing their presence via the clairsenses (clairaudience, clairvoyance, clairsentience, etc. but please make sure that you don't have any physical or mental conditions as what may be a clairsense may actually be a symptom of a larger problem)
Seeing them or their symbols in a dream
An offering or gift from them (ex: you've never worked with Athena before but you somehow pass an exam you didn't think you would pass)
This list is not exhaustive in any way!
One last thing: a lot of the time when people ask about how the gods interact with us a reason they're asking is because they want to know when a god is contacting them to work with them. Several cultures have different ideas on who should contact who first, but in Ancient Greece, humans are supposed to be the ones to contact the gods first. There are obviously exceptions, but overall, it's typically the gods that are doing the waiting.
According to Porphyry in Life of Plotinus (also referred to as The Enneads by Plotinus, but Porphyry was an editor), "Amelius was fond of sacrifices, and used to busy himself with rites of the new moon, and rites to allay fears. He once tried to get Plotinus to participate with him, but Plotinus said: 'They must come to me, not I to them.' We did not know what consideration led him to make such a grand pronouncement, and did not have the nerve to ask him."
I hope this answers your question anon! Feel free to send in another ask if needed

(Really long ask ahead i’m sorry!) I think your thoughts on dick and his similarities vs differences to bruce are so interesting! Personally i’m wondering how much of NTT played an influence on this kind of characterization bc i’ve never fully finished ntt but i read like nearly all the pre-80s batman 1940 issues lol and dick very much was portrayed as more idealistic than bruce in some ways while more no-nonsense (? For lack of better word) in other ways, like when it comes to batman easing up a little on selina for romance reasons LOL. Though ofc dick totally turns into - well, a dick - in team books, as i grow older i find myself far more compelled by a potential story of an 18 yr old who seemed to have the whole weight of the world on his shoulders (by his own perception) and breaking under his own impractically strong sense of duty and sky-high expectations for others, then realizing as he grows older that it doesn’t have to be that way esp after seeing the perspectives of characters like kory, wally, joey, roy, etc. Like personally as someone who never really had a huge interest in NTT anyway, i’m surprised at how desperately people want to hold on to the characterization of dick when he was 18-19 and never letting him grow past that, like it’s so difficult for me to believe that at age 25 he would be the same uptight controlling kid that he was at 19. Maybe i’m biased though bc i was like one of those insufferable INTJ internet stereotypes as a teenager, and while that worldview did bring me achievements i’m proud of like the fact that i’m in med school rn studying what i love, i still know that at age 22 i have changed SO much from when i was 18 and i can’t imagine any reasonably mature or normally-functioning person (let alone someone high-functioning like dick) not doing the same lol. Especially since dick is the kind of person who would literally die if he’s not constantly growing and evolving past his faults bc of his insufferable perfectionism, idk how he’d be willfully blind to the negative effects of his worldview in early NTT and refuse to grow from there. He even has a quote that’s like “i’ve spent years as a student of my own behavior” which i always found highly encouraging bc i know he really does want to improve himself even at his worst. It reminds me of that Marcus Aurelius quote: “if someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, i shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone; the harm is to persist in one’s own self-deception and ignorance.” But what are your thoughts? (Thank you for reading all this 🥹)
oh i absolutely agree! i cannot tell you how many times i think about the person i was a couple years ago and who i am now like i cringe so much omg.. maturity is an ever persistent process even if we don't recognize its effects immediately and it absolutely is crazy to think that anyone would remain in such a static state of mind for several years on end. esp when like you said dick is someone who wants to be better! so despite his several hypocrisies it is nonetheless in his best interests to look internally and analyze and evolve. and i feel like that very much could have happened had there been any actual segue between dick's breakup with kory and his re-entry into the batfam. i don't think there was much of a connection between these two sets of writers at all and so what you got is what felt like two very distinct parts of dick's life that didn't necessarily reveal a bridge point. so it's not entirely unrealistic that dick may grow to be the person (at least to some extent) that bat canon portrayed him to be in the years that followed but i certainly think as it stands it felt unearned and like all of his issues explored in ntt were conveniently swept to the side without any semblance of closure (albeit i do think some of these issues are addressed in outsiders '03 but in that dickheaded way that winick explores things generally. so i'm not sure it's the kind of closure people actually want). it's very sad and ig that's what people cling to more than anything. it's not that they're opposed to him growing to be a better person but that they're opposed to a version of dick who feels like he sprung out of nothing
#ironically enough i Do think dick going back to gotham after the kory breakup made sense#like when something that big happens in your life what are you going to do. seek the advice of the one person you look up to more than anyt#ing right. but marv wolfman complicated things by writing bruce the way he did so rather than bruce playing an active part#in guiding dick through some of his issues and mistakes he instead became dick's burden to bear through extensive post knightfall trauma#and i mean you all know i Love knightfall. i really do it gives me brainworms upon brainworms#but i wish there had been just one moment. like after it was all over. that bruce and dick actually got to talk and like#discuss dick's problems yknow#i get the feeling they didn't delve much when writing prodigal bc they had to set up the next arcs and stuff but it's like#come on. come on. they could've afforded it. if dick really had to come back to gotham for a temporary stint where he tried to find himself#than a proper conversation with bruce about what he was going through should have been a part of that#bc i do think working with bruce's new cavalry of three teen heroes (tim / steph / cass) would have borne wonderful opportunities#for dick to grow as a leader and peer considering his ridiculous expectations of others and how this would measure up against teenagers#but the problem is that bat canon decided he was going to magically gel with everyone bc he was emotionally more well adjusted than bruce#was. like ok. ok. whateverrrrrrrr#like idk it's so funny they were given a dick with a plethora of issues and instead of using any of that ammo they were like nah#we're going to make our lives harder and give him new problems manifested out of thin air. totally makes sense. bullseye#outbox

about my story, "ryan: sins of the father"!
this is a story about a boy named ryan, finally facing the crimes of his father. for so long he idolized his father, saw him as perfection, but slowly that image will unravel. along the way, he'll unravel himself, as well. can ryan ever forgive himself? can ryan ever be a good person? can ryan be a good brother? can ryan be a good lover? let's find out!
note: this is a multi-fandom fic, where characters will be from and travel to various movies/shows/games. the main characters are undertale aus/headcanons; ryan himself and his brother are sans and papyrus aus respectively, and their father is gaster. they're not meant to be entirely accurate (i mean, for one, it's unlikely that canon sans and papyrus are fallen humans at all.), they've always just been my own interpretations of the characters. with heavy projection. with that in mind, i should also state that this has been in the works since 2015-2016 or so, so it's pretty self-indulgent and cringe but i like it that way!!! i've projected too heavily onto this and i'm constantly brainrotting it so i can't just abandon it!!!
Tumblr media
the star of the show, my behated /neg, it's ryan gallagher! the 23 year old manfailure, whose personality i would describe but it's almost 7,000 words long what the fuck ryan!!!! (writing him was a pain holy shit) but to sum it up he's a little messed up lying bitchface (explodes him with my mind) i will insult him a lot but i also projected onto him extremely heavily so idk if that says a lot about me or not. um. it's a semi-joke and it's been long-running that i hate him (i have extremely strong feelings about him /neg) but it's (mostly) not really serious. this guy needs therapy but he's terribly in denial and he is committed to destroying himself and all of his relationships before that happens 🙄 like just stop lying lmao (i am a hypocrite) his backstory is not written yet because. i'm fucking terrified of how long that's going to take and how long it's going to be because i'm planning for all of the stuff that felix and wiley's backstories missed (they're kind of written from their perspective but also not because third person??? idk man) and holy shit. if you thought his personality was bad. or if you thought it wasn't as bad as the trigger warnings made it seem. they're mostly for the backstory. as a sans au he fucking lost it and killed frisk, but that exploded his timeline so he panicked and absorbed the souls, and he's here now ig do not go to his toyhouse i am begging
Tumblr media
aaaaa it's him!!!!! felix gallagher!!!! the bestest ever <333 i love him sm /p this is ryan's younger brother, 22 years old and loving life!!! he's optimistic, loves to help, and totally doesn't have any sort of anxieties rooted from his brother manipulating his life!!! (he does) he seems quite confident and independent, but he feels like ryan's babying can undermine his individuality. at the same time, he doesn't like to think such things of his brother, surely ryan knows what's best for him? as a papyrus au, he befriended flowey and gained the courage to fight back against frisk and absorb the seven souls to fix his glitched timeline, but that backfired, so here he is now! felix toyhouse :]
Tumblr media
aislinn gallagher, felix and ryan's mother, dearly missed ;-; she may be gone, but her absence has left a void in many a heart, and her short-lived presence in the gallaghers' lives has affected them deeply. visit her in the garden?
Tumblr media
this is wiley gallagher, he's 43 years old and i might joke about how much ryan is a terrible person but i'm serious when i say this man is literally AWFUL. like. i'm not kidding. he has not a single redeeming quality and not in the "haha silly" kind of way i mean. i hope literally nobody likes him because actually. what the fuck. i wrote him to be an irredeemable disgusting piece of shit and he's staying that way. there are sympathetic aspects to his story because otherwise it'd be a bit boring y'know but like. straight up. he's not a good person. he's the villain for a reason lmao uhhhh ramble aside he's a scientist who hates his sons and wants to reach the edge of scientific possibility, whether or not that destroys the universe he doesn't really care (great guy). he just wants to be the smartest dick to have ever lived, and hold all of the scientific knowledge ever or something like that. egotistical with an overinflated sense of what he's capable of. writing his backstory actually made me sick like /srs i took "gaster is associated with the devil" and ran with it i'd advise only to go to his toyhouse to send him hate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so r:sotf was originally not even a multifandom story, it was just an undertale multiverse story, which is why there's such a focus on undertale characters. so here's chara, flowey/asriel, and frisk dreemurr, and the other fallen children (noah, icarus, and madeline)!!! i've never liked how the fandom interprets chara personally, like the whole "chara is an evil demon child" or "chara is abusive and hateful" like. this is a ten year old. what the fuck. like yeah most of the ut fandom especially back then were children but why do children hate children lmao anyway. chara and flowey have issues to work out but they're getting through it!!! i believe in them. read more about my interpretations of chara, flowey/asriel, and frisk on deviantart (since i can't upload them to toyhouse)!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
meet ginger clair and jacinta bardales, two rivals who are some of the first people that ryan meets once his (dead) timeline kicks him out!! the girlypop and gamer goth girl hate each other oh no :[ the 19 and 20 year olds have a bit of a history with each other and ryan's getting caught between the crossfire ginger is glittery pink mr beast and jacinta is matpat if he was a goth lesbian (i'm so sorry) i'm very normal about women here's pink toyhouse and purple toyhouse yeah
Tumblr media
this isn't hello kitty, it's oisin kelly, silly!!! i saw hello kitty goth fashion once and knew that i needed to make an oc that was just. that. and here he is!! ryan meets the 22 year old in the world after ginger and jacinta's, where he also finds felix and flowey. oisin is hiding them from the government!!! yippee! oisin likes baking and cake decorating, and sees a lot of potential in ryan (i don't see it but you do you) and bow's trying to support him which is nice :] not worth it though me when hello kitty on toyhouse????
Tumblr media
yes that is the ok ko character base, because edward chen is an ok ko oc!!!! (ok ko is such a silly show you should watch it NOW!!!!) his hero name is multi-magician and this 23 year old is very chill, maybe even stoned. (you know those characters where they're ambiguously high. yeah) yes ryan and felix go to the ok ko universe and there they meet edward who is very cool and just wants to make sure these two sillies don't hurt themselves. (particularly ryan because he's very concerning holy shit) the scar on his face he got from climbing a fence and subsequently falling. he tells a different story every time and he thinks it's cool and funny edward toyhouse be upon ye
Tumblr media
last but not least!!! here we have elara samson, from the world of the spectacular spider-man. she's the 18 year old vigilante, who thinks spidey is immature and naive, and they're quite jaded and vengeful in general. sometimes they're on the same side as spidey, sometimes she's against him! just depends on the job. elara toyhouse moment
that's all, folks!! as i said in the beginning of this post, this has been in the works for like. what. 8 years now??? time is such a fucked concept wtf :[ and it's still being worked on!!! can you believe it??? but this is definitely the story i'm most passionate about, and i'm excited to finally be posting about it!! i'd love to see what you guys think :0

I'm sorry, i do not speak english well. From what I understand, they thought that Gonzague wasn't going to be able to get very far with his marriage proposal because of Aurore's father? So when Gonzague convinced her father, the situation was too complicated to do anything so they waited until everything collapsed(?)
How did Gonzague convince Aurore's father? Will he have a role in the story? His daughter had a child with Nevers behind his back (surely there is a hatred between the two families). If such a scandal comes to light, who would be viewed negatively in the eyes of society? Gonzague, Aurore, the father or Nevers? 😖
Anyway, I still don't like Nevers. The situation is worse if Gonzague was in love with Aurore... so it will be interesting to read about Henri de Lagardère's perspective. Considering that he is the virtuous hero and Gonzague the villain of the story
It seems to me that Gonzague has enough reasons to feel humiliated for everything they did to him and therefore, to have taken revenge on his supposed friend
Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Aurore’s father is infamously possessive of his daughter and has incredibly harsh expectations of her future spouse. Gonzague convinced him by flattering his ego and thanks to their experience with their own father. Of course their title is a prestigious one which helped a lot.
There isn’t hate between the Caylus and Nevers family. Aurore fears her father’s reaction for various reasons. The first one being he didn’t choose Nevers and he has to have total control over his daughter’s life.
As the situation is, it doesn’t look that bad in the eye of society. The more conservative people might think that Aurore disobeying her father is distasteful. Other will find the situation romantic while some will laugh at her father for what happened. The Marquis de Caylus lives as a recluse at a time where you had to be in Versailles court to be someone and it’s not doing him any favors.
If Aurore were to find herself unmarried with a child, however, she’d be ruined. This is a patriarchal society where women own pretty much nothing.
As a final note, you don’t have to like Nevers, that’s absolutely fine! I’m simply explaining the character’s motivations as best I can without spoiling anything.
The story is from the pov of Gonzague and they can feel intensely betrayed about the whole thing, for good reasons. Otherwise, them deciding to kill Nevers wouldn’t feel understandable at all, would it?
That being said, this is just the first chapter of the story, there’s still a lot to discover throughout the game.

So this is largely me thinking out loud and i don't expect anyone but me to care about this but. Ok, my thoughts in order
1. I have... maybe 18 years of Wiki editing experience and I am a good archivist. I admined one of the most popular fan wikis (3mil views per month) for ~6 years where I have 30,000+ edits. Yes that's a lot. No I don't know what grass feels like. But what I'm saying is I'm good at documenting.
2. The Abbott Elementary wiki has excellent episode pages, but very poor character pages. This is absolutely not a neg against the wiki or the contributors, far from it. The episode and transcript pages are very well done and comprehensive, and as someone who has done transcripts myself and knows how long it takes, they have so much of my respect. As a heavy-user wiki editor you tend to find your particular editing niche you enjoy and that's your thing you do, and you do it well. It's like any other type of fan creation, like finding a type of fanfic you like to write, or a particular art style you enjoy drawing in. That's what they're doing over there and they're great at it and I use those pages a lot.
3. Character pages are the ones that take a ton of time and archival, much more than I think most readers understand. For a good, solid page, probably 6-10 hours of writing minimum is required to write a chara page from scratch, not including the time spent rewatching the material. To update post episode for all charas from all charas different perspectives, at least 2-5 hours per episode (for an uncomplicated series, for high fantasy series with tons of lore... yikes). For this reason, poorly maintained chara pages is true of most wikis that aren't EXTREMELY active (the majority of wikis, believe it or not, have maybe 2-5 contributors at best, oftentimes just one guy with autism (me, i'm the guy)). People think they can do it, cause why wouldn't it be easy? so they try, then realise just how long it's gonna take and then bail and they're never seen again. It's why most wikis (except for Big series) are an unupdated ghost town. It's unpaid volunteer work for no praise or reward, so it's understandable. It's also very demoralising work. There's no kudos or comments or likes, nobody tells you good job. So it's a huge timesink just for the knowledge you contributed to the fandom, and hoping someone finds it useful, but never hearing if it was. "Anyone can edit a wiki" is true, but I can tell you point-blank that the reality is that most Good wiki pages you've ever seen were 95% written by just one person, and it's Work. The burnout is real and I've felt it, it's why I've been on effectively a wiki hiatus for nearly 2 years.
4. Because the Abbott cast is significantly smaller than the one I used to work on (52 main charas over 4 games vs a core cast of 6+1), writing good chara pages is something I could theoretically realistically do, because it's not as large as I am used to in my last experience, but it would, as I said, still be a huge time commitment.
5. I wish the pages were better, because there's so many times I've wanted to look up a fact and have been unable to do so - and making this a reality is within my means and totally within my experience. But:
6. Because the wiki hasn't had effectively useable chara pages for 2 seasons I'm not sure whether long-time active fans would think to consider the chara pages a resource after seeing them previously and knowing they're empty (I am guilty of this, I don't bother looking at them). So I'm not sure if the time commitment would be worth it. I also don't know if I would be able to commit to iterative updating once S3 rolls around, but at least there would be a stronger foundation for other people to contribute to?
7. I'm also not sure how the admins over there would feel about me blustering in out of nowhere, lol. Having been on the other side of that table I would understand the hesitation of someone coming in swinging.
I don't know. I'm considering it.

I read your UC post and i totally agree with the points you made. This is just my two cents.
I dont see the show having her continue down the long-term op route. Whether or not it fits with her character, I don't think they'll do it because it wouldn't fit the show's format. They would either have to have multiple episodes dedicated to that case for every op, have her disappear for episodes at a time, or have the op happen in one episode that takes places over a long time period.
If they showed most of the case in the episodes, it would take up a ton of screen time and because of that, they would probably have her go under as little as possible. That would completely defeat the purpose of following through with the UC storyline.
If they had the UC op continue going in the background of normal episode storylines, that would mean we would go episodes without seeing her or barely seeing her. That also would defeat the purpose of giving her this storyline if they use it to effectively write her out for part of a season.
Trying to cram a whole long-term op into one or two episodes would end horribly. The timeline is already so screwed up that it would only make it worse, lol. The kind of fast forward through the op montage worked in 3x14 and 5x21 only because those were a week or two long. Trying to do that with a 3-6 month op would be bad because it wouldn't give the other characters proper attention and skip big chunks of their storylines.
In my opinion, the formatting of the show wouldn't be able to work out longer ops while trying to give all the characters attention. I do think she should do more shorter ops as episode a or b plots, but I can't see it working any differently than that. This is just my perspective
Oh absolutely! I was mostly focusing on a character standpoint since that was the original point : I mean, logistics aside, the decision to pursue UC (or not) also has to make sense storywise.
But since we're now on that topic, yes, if Lucy were to ever do a long-term UC op, it would bring a lot of challenges. Like you said, cramming a 6-month op in 1 or 2 episodes wouldn't work, since it would affect all the other characters' own storylines in a negative way. And better not talk about that infamous timeline lol. Let's be honest, that's probably one of the reason why she has only done short-terms assignment so far. Although it is funny how they keep bringing up the issue… Or that they even chose that particular route in the first place.
But, you know, it's not necessarily impossible either. They could start with a time jump, like they did after Jackson's death : we end one episode with Lucy going undercover and the next, a couple of months have passed. Then, have the UC op be the main B plot for, say, half a season. A fil rouge of some sort. Lucy could go undercover for a case that both Nyla and Angela are working on, with Tim as her handler : that way, she is still linked to the team even if she doesn't see them all in person and her arc is still relevant to the main plot… A bit like they did with Elijah Stone this season, only less repetitive and more consistent. That would force the writers to be tighter in the scripts, with fewer plots per episode, which was a big complain this season. Or as I mentioned in the other response, they could take a page from NCIS LA's notebook : when the main actress got pregnant, they created a whole storyline for her character (a B plot) that lasted half a season. She was away on a long assignment, in a different continent, while still helping her team from time to time. Until the two main plots converged. In our case, it would be a bit easier since Lucy wouldn't need to be that isolated.
That's just one example but I'm sure they could find a way to make it work… the real question is : do they want to? My guess is, they are going to stick to short terms UC for Lucy, like you said. That way, they can have the best of both worlds. Unless, they decide to have her go a different route… That's always an option!

Hi,
I was wondering for the Canon character and oc event thing you can do a 💛 (with a hint of 💚) of my oc Kasai and post overblot Leona. Can it also be written in his perspective?
I think they would get along personally (minus Leona being a bit jealous of her and since idk how to add links I'll explain when I talk about her briefly) and so they'd either just be hanging out or maybe Kasai is talking to him about her kingdom.
(A bit on Kasai now)
Tumblr media
That's what she looks like. She's a god of fire + war. She's overall a very extroverted person due to being queen of her kingdom and having to interact with a lot of people. She doesn't really get attached to mortal people because she lost a lot of people in war/in general. So if she does get attached to them, she's very protective. She's illiterate and is often called stupid, but she's actually very good at manipulation and taking care of her kingdom. She has an older brother and is part dragon due to her mom cheating on her dad (he was a big tyrant) with a dragon who took a human form. She wasn't actually supposed to be queen, but she touched the family scythe, and it declared her as the new queen (I would get into why, but it's not super important) She can't feel romantic love and gets super annoyed when people try and date her. She likes collecting various weapons and anything shiny she finds.
(I'm so sorry if this was too much info. I get a bit carried away when trying to explain my characters to people. Also, I'm sorry if I missed any of the requirements)
{ Canon Characters Meet OCs event! }
A/N: Info dumping is totally fine ^^ And I read more into Kasai's backstory and lore on your blog, so hopefully I get all this right *lowkey worried but determined*
ೃ⁀➷ 💛/💚
ೃ⁀➷ Perspective: Leona
TW: None
Tumblr media
"Well, I told you about my kingdom. Why don't you tell me about yours?" Leona asked. He and Kasai were sitting on the balcony outside his room. He was sitting with one leg up with an arm crossed over it, while Kasai let her legs swing idly.
"Hm? Sure, I guess. It's by this big volcano, so it's pretty hot most of the time." She replied, turning to face him. Leona hesitated for a moment. She hadn't corrected him when he'd called it her kingdom. She was the second-born, right?
"Kasai?" He queried. She gave a 'hm?' to show she heard, though she'd already turned to face the slowly lowering sun. "You mentioned at some point that you have an older brother. So you're the second-born of your family, right?" Leona continued.
"Yeah. Why?" She asked. "You didn't correct me when I said 'your kingdom'. Wouldn't it be your older brother's kingdom then?" Leona's tail flicked and he shifted so he better faced Kasai, his left foot now inches from the balcony's floor.
Kasai laughed. "No, it's mine. There's this scythe that's been passed down for generations in my family. It's only able to be wielded by the ruler of my kingdom. Long story short, I touched it and it claimed me." She explained, then added with a snicker, "You should have seen the look on my father's face when he realized I was going to the kingdom's next ruler."
"I can only imagine," Leona said with a grin, then turned away. He felt his mouth drop to a scowl and he glared at the dusty expanse of the Savanaclaw dorm. Deep down, though he'd never admit it to her, he was extremely jealous. If only his family had some scythe heirloom, then maybe he could of stood a chance of becoming king. Though, he reasoned, Kasai is a bit of a special case, apparently. But still, he couldn't help the negative feelings stirring inside him.
"Leona? Is there something wrong?" Kasai asked, tapping him on the shoulder. Leona turned to her, fixing a nonchalant look on his face. "Huh? What do you mean, herb-" He stopped, remembering that Kasai was a dragon, therefore definitely not an herbivore. "I'm fine; why?" He restarted. She rolled her eyes. "Remembered I'm a dragon, huh? Anyways, you looked mad about something."
Leona scoffed. "What would I be mad about?"
"I don't know, that's why I asked." Kasai retorted. Leona caught an opportunity and took it, swiftly changing the topic. "So you can read other people's emotions better than you can read in general? And write, if I remember correctly." He flashed her a smirk.
"Eh- I can read!" She protested, standing up in her irritation. Leona chuckled. "Your history grades seem to say otherwise. I doubt Professor Trein can even read your handwriting."
"He totally can. And don't act like your grades are so good; at least I actually show up for class." She shot back. "And falling asleep immediately after you sit down doesn't count."
Leona couldn't think of a good reply to that so he rolled his eyes and his tail gave a lazy flick. "Well, I'm tired and the sun's shining in the perfect spot; so if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go take a nap." He remarked, glancing at the sun that was just high enough to have risen past sunrise.
"If you fall asleep now, you won't wake up in time for your first class," Kasai said. "I pity Ruggie, having to drag your lazy butt out of bed every morning." She said in a teasing tone. Leona slipped off the balcony railing and stretched his arms, letting out a low yawn.
"See ya later." He said, offering a lazy wave as he turned away, heading inside his room. He didn't bother to watch for her to wave back, and as he turned to the window for a brief moment, she had disappeared. He gave a subconscious shrug and collapsed onto his bed, dozing off almost instantly, the rays of sunlight shining warmly on his bare skin.
@doodler17: to make links, you can tap the vertical dots at the top of your post and it will say 'copy link'. Click that, then go to the post where you want to add the link. If you want to add the link to a particular word, just double click on the word and you'll see what looks like two chain links interlocked. Choose that and it'll let you input the link, then you're done! And by the way, thanks for the request! Sorry it took so long for it to be finished, mbmb.
Also, I hope everyone enjoyed this post! Unfortunately, aside from a few requests that still need to be finished (I'LL GET THEM DONE, I SWEAR!!), the canon character meets ocs event is over (since the 20th). I may or may not keep the event as a permanent feature so you guys can continue to bombard me with oc requests, so keep an eye out for that!

A key thing about abused kids....
Kids are often so far away from knowing what's abusive and what isn't, and from even having a correct interpretative lens about it, that if you naively ask them to describe their home life, odds are extremely high they won't even think to mention a lot of the abusive stuff.
Because it doesn't even stand out to them. And the worst stuff that does stand out? Well that was obviously because they "deserved it" or "brought it upon themselves" or whatever. They might feel shame bringing up any of the stuff they did that the abuse was punishing.
They don't know that their dad doing a thing that physically hurts and leaves them unable to breathe for a while is abusive - they think surely other dads do that too when you make them mad, or worse, and honestly their dad is better because that's not hitting, it never bruises or bloodies or breaks anything and it doesn't even hurt that much.
They don't know that that one time their dad seriously hit them when they were like five is fucked up enough to mention - they think it totally makes sense because they did something that exceptionally raised negative feelings, surely any parent would.
They don't know that the one time they half-performatively ran out of the room because mom hurt herself doing something and expressed angry frustration, and then mom chased after them yelling and hit them, because she interpreted the kid's played up fear whimper sounds as laughter rather than as a meta comment on fearing literally exactly this behavior that mom is now doing... yeah they don't know that's particularly worth commenting on because that event is the only one they still remember but it's memorable precisely because it was an exceptional situation that's the most understandable.
They don't know being made to retrieve and eat food out of the trash that one time is abusive - they think "well I did waste some of that food, and I deprived someone else in the family from eating it who might've enjoyed it" and then don't even think anything of it until they're in their fucking thirties and two years deep into a self-chosen unemployment after they've realized they need something that drastic to work through everything.
And when that's the highlights, they're not even going to think about how every argument happens in the intimidation shadow of getting physically hurt if you make a parent too mad or stand up for yourself too angrily. They're not going to bring up all the yelling and chronic drip of self-esteem-damaging insults about their intelligence and moral character that come out whenever they do something bad or not-actually-bad-but-apparently-adults-think-its-bad or bring home bad grades.
They sure as fuck aren't going to think to mention the kinds of data points that a psychology-versed person will immediately recognize as textbook cause of CPTSD, but which to the kid just seems too subtle of a detail within their normal to even mention, like "oh, and I can never know if the yelling is done - it could randomly resume at any time if one of the parents thinks of another Great Point to make about how I'm bad or am doing bad things to my life or [...] - so sometimes I only fall asleep long after the yelling has stopped because I noticed that the sounds outside my bedroom have distinctly indisputably shifted to my parents talking pleasantly about something amongst themselves, or the lights have gone out".
Point being: if you just naively ask an abused kid to describe their experiences, they're probably not even going to think of a lot of the right stuff to bring up. You gotta really try to creatively apply your more experienced perspective to feel around, think of possibilities, ask questions that would trip over some detail, and most of all you gotta notice relevant mental movements in them and ask yourself what kind of abuse pattern might cause them.

BIG FREAKING TES 4: OBLIVION SPOILERS BELOW
(Hello mutuals, I wrote it out)
Okay so basically
I FREAKING love Oblivion so much. Yes, the character design is a... Bit odd to say the least, but the story is SO good.
Skyrim could never have TWO quests with incredibly complex plots involving lots of murder, and yet, here this 2006 game does. Oblivion literally gave us one plot about a cult that was in a negative light (main quest) and one about a cult in a positive light (dark brotherhood) and I love that. Nuance. I think it really shows how being IN the cult can change your perspective. And I think it's important to remember that everybody in the Mythic Dawn was a person. Also Mankar Camoren was half Altmer and half Bosmer and that is so cool and Skyrim could probably never fathom a mixed character with that much importance (even if he is the villain).
SPEAKING of Mankar Camoren (probably one of my favorite antagonists, up there with like, Dagoth Ur in terms of complexity ((you can fight me on this, I don't care, I think Camoren is neat even if I hate him for being responsible for killing babygrill Martin))) he had such an interesting narrative and like, the fact that he roped his kids into his cult? And how Paradise/the savage garden is actually just hell and all of the Mythic Dawn people were duped? OOH! I love it. I also dig how there's that one guy in the forbidden grotto that clearly had a high enough ranking in the cult to not be tortured by the Daedra and, in fact, be trusted with the torture of his fellow (dead) members, and yet he TURNED BACK and decided to help the Hero of Kvatch??? OOOOOH COMPLEXITY
Also Camoren did Oblivion realms in books before Hermaus Mora made it cool
Changing topics, I really love how the factions ACTUALLY required progression! You aren't just the arch mage without having any magical abilities aside from like, casting one minor spell. I legitimately, during my first playthrough, thought the Arcane University was the end of the Mages' Guild quest line IT'S NOT(????) You can apparently become arch mage and little me's brain would have an aneurysm. Fighter's guild? Starts off as just being paid to fight, gets a plot later (and a sick one at that)??
And the leaders of the guild don't just... Die and then you get promoted. The Fighters' Guild leader "retires" and then comes back to help you. The leader of the Mages' Guild sacrifices himself so you don't get Mannimarco'd. Heck, for the Dark Brotherhood, Lucien, who I'm pretty sure most of us see as the head of the Brotherhood, WASNT EVEN THE HEAD. he was a SPEAKER, the HoK killed Ungolim, man. (Also the fact that you can kill Lucien when you meet him [which younger me did I had to roll back so much] is wacky.)
For all the issues of the random NPCs, a lot of them have distinct personalities. I might struggle telling you the difference between the Companions aside from like... Aela and Vilkas and Farkas, but I can totally tell you the personality of most of the Imperial City merchants?
ALSO THE HAGGLE AND DISPOSITION FEATURES
I don't really like the disposition mini game, but it's really interesting from a straight up rollplay standpoint because good people probably aren't trying to manipulate people into liking them. And it makes leveling up Personality or whatever so much easier.
I also love the way the landscape looks. The different regions have different flora and it's so interesting. Also there's just random minotaurs and land dreughs too (I prolly spelled that wrong)
Also, I am so so so madly in love with Martin and his whole character and I LOVE how he has growth from this timid lil priest guy to he's LEADING THE CHARGE at the Great Gate, but he doesn't ever let his power get to him. He's a very humble guy, but he's in no way penalized for that. He's not a super macho man, but he's not shown as like, weak or effeminate for liking to read and hide away. Heck, he's respected and well loved because he's not full of himself and he's treating all the Blades with respect himself. He has conversations with them where he's actively trying to just level with them and interact. I honestly think if he'd not sacrificed himself at the end to defeat Dagon, he'd have been the Numa equivalent for the Empire (get Roman Empire'd lmao) and would have probably focused on the scholarly and/or religious.
Also all the badass women, guys. That's so cool to see. Milona Umbranox is ruling Anvil ALL by herself, through her incredible grief at the loss of her husband, and even when you bring Count Umbranox back, she's STILL in charge, guys. It's so cool so cool. I'll get back to the Umbranoxes in a sec. This might just be me, but I really really liked Caroline. I'd talk to her every time I was at Cloud Ruler Temple and I still do. And like, Telaendril is so dope, bro. She literally outran her killer long enough to kill her father.
Ok, the Umbranoxes and the Thieves' Guild now. I freaking love the Thieves' Guild. It's such a cool questline. You have to start it by talking to beggars, because the guild really cares about the beggars, bro. The Thieves' Guild is almost certainly the people who help the beggars, change my mind. But like the fact that the Grey Fox is literally stealing an Elder Scroll just because he can is epic. The reunion of Corvus and Milona Umbranox was so sweet.
Additionally, I love how you can't just speed run the quests. Especially the main quest, it's an actual threat because you're constantly bombarded by Oblivion Gates and that makes fast travel really difficult. You have to take at LEAST 10 days to do the main quest. Actual progression, yippee!
And there's so many good side quests, too, like, I love the one where you go into a painting to get this painter out, and if I remember correctly, his dad was a really good painter but then lost his ability to use his hands or something so Dibella made him a paintbrush so he could keep painting. Disability rep?? In a 2006 game?? Hello????
I ain't even got to the Shivering Isles yet, holy crap. The amount of love I have for that DLC.
I don't think there is ever going to be a DLC like the Shivering Isles ever again, as sad as it is to think about that. That DLC was probably the most fleshed out think I've played in a long time that isn't fanmade. There was a whole new area to explore, where you choices actually affected the world. Also, the complexity of all the characters and their different flavors of problems from a hypochondriac to paranoia, to obsessive collecting, to depression... It was really interesting to see all these different characters with their issues.
And Sheogorath himself was super cool too! Wes Johnson had such a dope performance (and looks like the prince too, lmao) and honestly brought so much life to the character and his insanity. The Greymarch was almost like the Shivering Isles' personal Oblivion Crisis, with Beacons of Order poppin up like Oblivion Gates all over the Isles.
And the difference between Haskill and Dyus is so funny to me because they both seem so done with their respective Daedric Princes.
Anyway, I love this game so much and I really hope TES 6 is closer to Oblivion than Skyrim.

rav used the meangirls-y anti bs to raise real concerns, clearly a bad move IF she actually thinks there are real concerns. I was there for the argument that drove z out of rav's server and uhh. rav deleted the logs after lashing out. rav was incredibly condescending and reactionary to z specifically often. I'd be worried to call her level headed or promote her personal beef, from my POV. both sides lack credibility or clarity.
I'm not sure exactly what your premise is in this first sentence, anon. Rav's post didn't use anti language or the meangirl tone of davy's group, and rav's post IS the most level headed post *I have seen* about the situation, because she talked about REAL experiences without slinging around the types of (as far as I've seen, STILL unwarranted) dog whistle accusations davy and them were, and other people I have similar respect for commented about their similar experiences WITHOUT RESORTING TO DAVY'S TACTICS.
Also, just as an aside, it's really funny to me that someone would complain about rav being condescending but not zxro. This is a nonstarter.
I'm not even involved in this. I didn't interact personally enough to know definitively who did what and why. I wasn't in ANY of those servers or DMs! Therefore, I have to rely on my best judgement according to the information I do have, the people I trust to give me good faith information based on past experience, and the small amount of interactions with zxro that left me uncomfy.
I've spoken to people on the sidelines like me, ostensibly on zxro's side if by nothing more than circumstance, and I can't really blame them for still liking zxro or his writing, or wanting to defend him from the very dangerous accusations davy and them were spreading. If they haven't had or seen the negative interactions other people have, they're likely just doing their best to figure out the situation, same as me. Their personal biases towards zxro will inevitably play a part in their perspective, but that is just human nature. I have no beef with anyone in zxro's circle at this point, unless I see similar bullying behavior to what davy's group is doing.
I've spoken to rav briefly about this situation, and read her post about it. I totally understand why it would be difficult to address this issue before; it can be agonizing to parse when something IS a big enough red flag that you should warn people about before something huge happens. Because not everyone's red flags are the same, or at the same levels, and because this fandom is already rife with clashing personalities, and because of thousands of other micro-reasonings we all rely on to get along every fucking day. So, while I think it's unfortunate it didn't come out sooner and in a different way, I also don't blame rav for not making a callout or something.
You're on anon, and I have no fucking clue who you are, so why should I just take your word over rav's?
But I'm not even here to play he said she said. I already said in my original post that I'm not happy with EITHER SIDE, so did you come here to reiterate? I don't want to be involved with either side -- and here I am talking specifically about the people involved in the bullying campaign of zxro, but also zxro! I'm not into any of this drama, and I don't feel a loss at the idea of not seeing zxro OR davy OR angel on the dash, or anyone else that wants to continue dragging this corpse through ANTI BULLSHIT. I am cutting my fandom losses.
I honestly don't know what the best way to address the real issues would've been, but the way davy's closeknit group did it was the WRONG way. Anyone throwing around the terms of pedo and 'cp' immediately discounts anything meaningful they may have to say, because I can't trust that it's in good faith.
Idk how to make you understand that it isn't ok to accuse someone of being a pedophile just because they're dating an adult you think they're too old for!! Idk how to make you understand that calling underage fanfiction 'cp' is harmful both because it's an incorrect, outdated term AND because the premise of the accusation is false. AND because the people that do that KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They don't like that content and think it makes you bad, or that the thing they're mad about isn't bad ENOUGH so they have to spice up their bad feelings post with EVIL BUZZWORDS, because that will immediately get their followers attacking the thing they don't like because "*gasp* don't you care about the children?!" Oh, hello U.S. Republicans. When did you join SPN fandom??
Wake up, babe, new fandom factions dropped.
It really doesn't matter if there are truthful accusations about predatory behavior beyond the dog whistles at that point, because the premise of the accusations being spread through tags and replies was just a vengeful dogpile. It just looked like a friend group's petty argument that got nasty, rather than a pattern of behavior to be aware of. And a lot of the people NOT in the know who were concerned about the language being used, and the level of accusation, were told "it's an open secret" -- which it very much WAS NOT, as proven by all the confused DMs I've received. Y'all aren't as famous as you apparently think, jfc. I dont even know what your server is called and it's not the only one for wincest, thank fuck.
I only hope that after this whole thing, people will be both more aware and more mindful of how they're approaching interpersonal problems in fandom. I truly do not want to see new cults form here. The heller cults are enough for one fandom. 🙅‍♀️

cole sprouse being a closet bughead fan is not what i expected to see today but here we are. he also said they have no clue what’s going to happen in any future episodes and the actors are mostly kept in the dark about where things are going. do you think that makes it hard for them to portray scenes or dig into their characters or is it a non factor? i would want to know how things play out so badly.
Not to rain on anyone's parade, and I've only seen a few short clips from the interview, but I think he's a pretty non-closeted fan of acting, working with actors, and digging into real emotional arcs. What I got is that he felt like there needed to be a longer conversation between Betty and Jughead, versus the quick bits and catharsis that Betty had on her own. He's not shipping anything, he's not dismissing any other relationships. He's addressing scenes that would allow him to flex and work emotionally. From an acting perspective, I'm sure that would be interesting for him. He likes the relationships, and working with actors - that isn't a shocker: actors like acting.
As for the other part in terms of being kept in the dark, frankly that's par for the course for the large majority of TV. It's incredibly rare that actors do know what's coming beyond the episode they're shooting, or a few episodes down the road, particularly with broadcast TV (streaming is different, but only because by the point most interviews are happening they've already filmed the entire season). The pace is incredibly quick, things change on the fly... Maybe a little more than usual with Riverdale (based on what I've heard from talking to people about it), but mostly they don't know because it hasn't entirely been settled on yet.
That said, in order to not to be a total negative nelly here, absolutely I think it's better if you have the full scope of things so you can craft a performance. That's just not possible on a 20 episode TV show, but with a movie, or a show that has all the scripts in advance that's of course a great help to the actor... That way they know emotionally where they're starting, and where they need to end so they can fill in the bits in between; along with the writers, the director, and their fellow actors. I think it's less about plot points, more about being able to actually do their job properly (i.e., create an emotional arc and journey for a character).
Excited to see how the main takeaway from this ask is "why do you hate Tabitha?" or whatever.

oh yeah addendum in also the other day seeing someone autistic talking in that context abt what they want from genuine relationships in that they said they don't want to be Admired Or Desired. that one time someone was like, you're one of the best people i know, like well neat compliment sure i'll take it lmao, but also, that's somewhat confusing and even disheartening when it's like, i have no way of knowing this; we don't really interact? or times i have to ""unilaterally"" assess that i don't feel Friends with someone b/c i don't feel like, for one thing, i can just up & message them even lol; the feeling that to whatever capacity there's a relationship, it's been continual "don't mess this up" masking / efforts to "do things Right" from me....whilest also times it's been like, oh someone's apparently choosing to be around me? enjoying interactions? while still kind of confused about it. and then it's like oh it was Romantic Interest apparently lol :( like even if i wasn't aromantic which i so am....where was the [there is anything to feel is genuine] like again we never even got to any part where i wasn't masking and [do things Right] and on edge and certainly not at whatever point i apparently had whatever appeal. much less "when cishet men are just sprinting straight at you" but that's all the more, like, [you as a Person are certainly irrelevant] but not like it doesn't still feel ultimately mostly irrelevant even if people have more discretion / a more considerate approach in general. also that again there would not be a Right way lmfao. it just sure could be a totally neutral expereince rather, please. how i've had too many situations having to try to fling myself out a window figuratively, even w/those theoretically more considerate approaches
or even when people will be talking about what makes someone Deserving outside of the most conservative(tm) approaches like. this person isn't someone who just waits for things to happen :) like well hell yeah for them lol, meanwhile, i sure kinda am. being aware that in any given way i may not impress anyone / may be negatively assessed; only turns into "there go my power levels increasing again. shrugmoji" when correspondingly it's like, and i don't have to care, or certainly then blame myself about it if like oh boy, society when you have to be "objectively" judged as Worthy by randos, whatever their perspectives lol....or when like, the concept of social support is like, get a romantic partner, primarily, an ounce of backup from friends, the Real backup being family, or friends "as good as" family....or the ongoing journey of realizing like; it was never Just gonna be managing to leave [abusive childhood/family house]. the ways that other experiences outside that were Consistent, really, when being around peers means an immediate sense of doing something wrong / not being as good as them; authority figure adults sometimes acting just like an abusive parent does; no ways to regularly exist flexibly and/or less supervised/monitored, e.g. couldn't walk from [home] to [anywhere]....catching on like, ah, outside of That Situation? i'm still not inherently more valued by randos, still not Not liable to be regarded/treated with disdain / expressions of authoritarianism....Aren't We All; for real. but truly like oh hey, i didn't even realize i was getting all this Political experience in that [when you have a one on one personal abuser and You're Responsible For How They Treat You and Their Own Power Is The Whole Thing and You'll Never "Earn" Better But It'll Always Be Your Fault You Haven't] and all those kinds of logics and realities it's like of course this resonates crystal clear with logics and realities re: [political enemies] lmao. ofc they can be as "hypocritical" as they want b/c [you can just say whatever while you do w/e you want and other people have to deal] is an expression of power. of course "for [xyz]'s own good; individually or as a group" is really about ensuring the power to control their existences as property by shrinking the space in which someone can enact autonomous choices: anything For Children is about (conservative) parents controlling children as things they own and can do whatever they want with; like making sure kids Can't be gay or sm shit, it Is about children, just keeping them from being able to exist outside the sphere of control of an isolated Family life. hell yeah when they do anyways / tragically it always turns out people are actually people despite your wanting to disbelieve this / always have the power to ignore it..........but then yknow, the truth is we out here, and ofc it's like [police protect Property; enforce these property/owner relations] but what's Normal yet obviously harmful is also so borne by regular ordinary """harmless""" interpersonal interactions / people who feel supposedly well-intended but that's more superficial than in essence....even merely the Exhaustion in knowing interactions as Just chitchat w/supposedly amicable parties is like, a scrutinizing test that can only go wrong and lead to antagonism / animosity that can easily accumulate &/or compound. much less existence In Public and shit going wrong out of nowhere, and potential stakes....being like Lol at, again, years back thinking like "a horror short should be like, the premise that you might just be at a grocery or some ordinary asf situation but at any given moment, doing Nothing extraordinary, some rando suddenly goes Deeply Hostile Mode for a second. where even then suddenly disengaging from that mode is not a relief in that the [this could happen at any time] is emphasized" like lmfao that's [being in an abusive situation], that's [being autistic], isn't it so Zany that there's so much overlap / resonance.

Welcome back! I guess time really flies faster for extroverts like us lol.
Well, we get bored faster, that's for sure. ;)
Anyways, I wonder, what is your stance (as 6w7) toward learning and failures in general? For 3w2 like me, it's totally fine to make mistake but I have to improve at a really fast pace every time. I rarely stop to sort out how I feel about the mistake and I just drive toward fixing it. But at the same time I'm very sensitive to criticism and failures, because it reflects poorly on my competency and a blow to my face. Which is why it could be nerve wracking to get plunged into new things, I could muck it up. It took a lot of willpower to force myself to do it and not think about how clumsy I'll look.
My head-energy 6 perspective is that learning is a process and takes time, that nobody is going to get it right offhand, and that failure is a way to learn how to do a better job next time and/or become more aware of your limitations. My 7 wing, however, thinks learning out to be easy and fun and wants to re-frame failure into a positive of some kind (a lesson learned, a door closed so another one can open, etc). TBH, I don't spend any time thinking about how I feel about the mistake (which most of the time is anger at being wrong or getting it wrong or shame for having embarrassed myself with misinformation, etc), I just work hard to make sure I won't make it again and/or to to fix it. I hate being 'exposed' or making a mistake in public especially.
Criticism for me is somewhat expected; I've had to work through a natural 6 tendency to expect the worst from people (that they won't like it or me, that they will only see what's wrong with it, or focus only on the mistake and miss the forest for the trees, which is just me 6ishly projecting my own insecurities onto other people; I've made great strides in moving past this in the last year or so, which has made my life a hell of a lot easier). If I receive criticism, I step back and evaluate it to decide if it's constructive; if so, I implement it, and if it's not or just a matter of opinion, I decide from there whether I care or not and agree with it or not. It's hard for me to ignore criticism, however, since I'm an attachment type who internalizes everything. I'm also protective of looking competent, because I work so hard to be truly good at the few hobbies / undertakings I take on.
My 8w7 boss and 8w9 aunt say something like 'don't care about how others see you. Only focus on yourself and be better each time. It's your journey and no one else's.' This is very interesting because I always attach to other people, like this guy did great. I have to be better next time. But 8s in my life just don't care about any of that. Which sounds refreshing lol.
Gosh yes, it would be amazing to be a rejection type... what has helped me in the past (which might not help you, as a core image type, lol) is to remind myself -- nobody cares what you do, so you might as well do what pleases you. They aren't thinking about you all the time and waiting with baited breath for you to show up in their life and dazzle them. They are thinking about themselves. So you don't have to show up for them, show up for yourself instead. Do it for you.
And ... is it normal to feel cringe toward people of your own type?
Yes. I experience this more with fellow 6s (especially online, watching them spiral, project, be fearful and negative, accuse others, and ping off them without finding a sense of their internal strength) than with other ENFPs, mostly because I know very few other ENFPs. But ENFPs being naive or unrealistic does make me flinch a little. And in a true Fi way, everything is always about me, so I assume their behavior is going to affect how people view ME. (EG, "This obvious ENFP who never edits anything has put out a terrible book, which means people who read it and think it's subpar might not buy indie authors anymore and that will affect me, since they won't give me a chance!" Wow boy, egocentric much? Welcome to Fi.)
Regar
My friend is ESTP 3w2 sp/so (essentially identical except sensor-intuitive divide). I feel cringe at some of what he did. [...] He is a great guy - smart, caring, fun and nice. But I can't help getting pissed by all those 3-ness and ETP-ness. Maybe it's because we share type? Since I know all his tactics and it's becoming like a mirror for myself?
Yep. Psychologists always say, you hate most in other people what you secretly hate in yourself... Being the same type, you know what he's up to, so he can't fool you, which fills you with disgust, because it's holding up a mirror to your previous behaviors.

For the character ask: James and Yang, please?
Alright! Sorry I advanced if I wrote some of these out of order.
James Ironwood:
Sexuality headcannon
Gay, Demi Romantic
Otp
Ironqrow, obviously
Brotp
Glynda!
Notp
I'mma be honest with you, I don't think that there is a James ship I don't like or at least I'm not curious about. Except for maybe shipping him with any of the teenage characters because large age gaps and underage x adult squick me the heck out. Problematic adult pairings like Jacques/James interest me from a storytelling perspective rather than a genuine want for them to be together, because believe me, James deserves so much better than him.
First headcannon that pops into my head
James has body issues and a mild case of body dysmorphia. This has a lot to do with feeling ostracized because of his prosthetics and how people will react to them, but also extends to normal middle aged man insecurities like worrying about his weight and his greying hair.
Favorite line from this character
"Well that's about all the pomp I have in me, *adjusts tie* now I have to get back to running this operation.*turns, and the turns back with a smile* Enjoy the Cake!" This moment is so awkward and genuine it lives in my head rent free.
One way in which I relate to this Character
I hardcore headcannon him as being Autistic, so a lot of this might be projecting, but it's the implication that he thinks about everything in a different way from most other characters in the show and what makes sense to him is somehow universally pushed against and rejected as a solution, but they also get mad at him for not doing the thing that they didn't want him to do. It almost feels like no one's really trying to make an effort to understand him and instead try to read into all of his behaviors as being malicious in nature. I think every autistic person has had this happen to them at least once in their lives.
Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment from this character.
His flirting with Glynda in the earlier seasons. The heteronormativity really made things awkward back then.
Cinnamon roll, or problematic fave?
Problematic fave for sure, even when he wasn't being a poorly thought out villain, he still made a lot of choices that actually had an effect on the story with positive and negative consequences. Which as we all know in RWBY, you are evil to do if you're not a main protagonist.
Yang!
Sexuality headcannon
Definitely bisexual
Otp
Freezer burn!
Brotp
I think Yang and Nora would be an unstoppable duo and should totally hang out more.
Notp
Get bumblby the hell away from me please. I mean, make it cannon for fucks sake, and then keep it the hell away from me.
First headcannon that pops in my head
She used to make Ruby breakfast in the morning but since she was still a young kid while trying to take care of her sister, a lot of her food items were not exactly healthy. Like putting chocolate milk and cookie crumbs in marshmallow cereal.
One thing I relate to about this character.
I wasn't abandoned by a parent or had one die on me, but I was raised by two people who had untreated mental health issues, my mom had a drinking problem and bipolar mood swings when I was young, while my dad was a closets bisexual man who was dealing with a divorce and being in contact with his catholic (and quite homophobic) family while not taking any antidepressants for his emotional issues. So Yang having two parental figures who still loved and cared about her, but whose mental health issues ended up affecting her later in life even though they were trying their best? That hits close too home.
Favorite line from this character
"but you are special, at least to me" I know this is from her first appearance in the first episode, but something about the genuine love for her little sister she showcases in those words alone just makes me think about all the things I love about Yang.
Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment from this character.
Her openly growling at shirtless boys while in the hall before the first day of school. It's just so awkward, even if it was set up for a joke about how Jaune isn't masculine enough (even though that in of itself sucks)
Cinnamon roll, or problematic fave?
Problematic fave for sure. Although I'm not sure I can really call her a fave after what the show did with her. It's just so hard to enjoy her now that they've made her main personality trait being angry and completely forgot that her anger was something she was supposed to be overcoming, Not wallowing in. And also absolutely nobody on team RWBY came out looking good after the Atlas arc. I don't care how many times the writers are going to rewrite the history of their show.

I truly don’t know what to expect with Kanthony in S3, concerning possible sex scenes or generally. There’s no precedent with a former lead couple now being put on the back burner.
I do think the show views Polin as a “it couple” and it’s not wrong — their book is probably tied with TVWLM as the favorite of the series. With the general viewers, though, I don’t think it’s unfair to say they’re not beloved (yet - everyone did a 180 on Anthony, but I also think JB as an actor was a *huge* difference maker there; plus Anthony’s sympathetic backstory. At any rate…) Like, the day they announced Polin as S3, the Twitter reaction was pretty negative, and I mean casuals, not the fandom. So I do think they’ll be careful to make sure Kanthony won’t pull focus from them too much as they make Polin a credible couple to regular viewers. And imo that means little if any K/A sex scenes, which would possibly highlight the difference in chemistry between the couples. Also I wonder if they’ll return to form with the gratuitous sex of S1 after all the complaining about S2’s relative chastity. Even if they do, they’ll probably show Benedict fucking around, until halfway thru when the main couple do. I know it’s been a thing that Anthony’s ass has been out in the first few minutes of both seasons and it could be fun to do that with him and Kate. Tbh Kanthony (and especially JB/Anthony) ultimately won in S2 in that they didn’t have to have Regé’s shadow immediately looming. But that’s not the case now, and there will be more direct comparisons between subsequent couples and prior ones.
I agree that I hope the kanthony storyline is mostly divorced from the main romance one. I dunno how realistic this is considering it seems likely they’ll be living at the main house. And they keep reiterating they’re the “head of the household” - so the problem solvers. The idea of K/A having to conspire to solve the LW thing and spare the family their umpteenth scandal gives me second hand embarrassment idk. I love how Kate somehow never spoke to a Featherington in S2 and wish it could stay that way lol. I hope it’s mostly Anthony supporting Kate’s emotional arc, her being Viscountess, and the baby that’s been hinted at a lot. But I have a feeling with how they qued up a Kate/Eloise friendship, they’ll inevitably get drawn into the romance plot, probably with Eloise tattling on Penelope.
God this got so so long pls dont mind me. There are a lot of s3 thoughts in here I've been keeping in me for a long time and i probably wont care much to talk it a whole lot more. But here they are! (its a lot of polin talk which is very unlike me tbh)
Agree with a lot of things you said here! I think the only thing I don't really see is production viewing Kathony chemistry potentially being a detriment to polin. I def think they're focused on polin and don't want to harp on past couples too much bc of screen time/focused narrative purposes, but I think it would be cynical of the show's creators to view their next love story as something that can be so easily overshadowed. As a shipper, i understand that perspective but in productions eyes Kathony should be nothing more than an added bonus to lure in viewers!
That being said, i do think they are aware that they really have to stick the landing with this one since a lot of people are kinda hesitant to like either character. They’ve def been hyping them, but some of the methods of hype (like posturing colin as a hero) have been odd to me. So like as an example (I haven't been paying too close of attention so someone please correct me if I'm wrong) but any talk of Luke's glo up feels a little weird to me. As friends/coworkers of luke ppl like nicola are just hyping him and colin and I totally get/support that! but if production or promo or interviewers lean into colins glo up, then the insinuation that he needs one in the first place feels a little? insulting? Thats just what luke looks like. It wasnt like with Jonny and those silly sideburns that everyone has opinions about!
I'm interested to see how they intend to deal with polin and their lasting power on the show! Someone like nicola has the most steady career trajectory of any actor on this show in my eyes. People like Rege and Simone broke out big and need to ride that wave so fame and opportunity don't fizzle, but Nicola has steady buzz as an actress and I actually think a lot more likely to get attention from critics/awards because of her recognizability and being a long-time face of the show! (im sure shell do a great job anyway, but that's just how I've been told awards work, a good performance coinciding with a rise to fame. not just the former)
What I mean by all of this is, I know nicola loves the show and the role but will she be famous and busy enough to walk away? Will she be so so expensive that they dont totally have the budget to keep her? Do they have a post LW plot after this season, does it involve her, and does it make her more important to the show than ever? Who knows. Colin and Pen as members of the family dont have a narrative ~necessity~ to be around the way viscount and viscountess do. (Altho all this featherington heir stuff...is their baby becoming the next lord featherington? probably).
Now uhh getting into the sex stuff. Their approach has been kinda head scratcher. If i were a polin stan id want the quality of the kathony one with a little more of the frequency of saphne. Its hard to say whether production will stick to their guns on the "only necessary sex scenes" or if they'll take heed of some of the criticism and go back for more raunch. Who knows but i really feel like they'll just do whatever fits their "vision" of the season. CVDs monologue on only wanting the scenes to be "necessary" was imo only that. He wanted the broken up wedding and sex didn't fit into it easily. I think its as simple as that. So how much sex polin has I think depends on how they plan to structure it. Which is anyones guess really.
Benedict will for sure be a whore. and Kathony, if anything, would have something short. Its not like side characters in s1 had drawn out sex scenes! That was only the main couple!
Now rounding back to what we both actually care about, Kathonys future: I really think Kate and Anthony as problem solvers being involved with polin would be a bad move for both couples! Colin, as someone "lacking in purpose" doesn't grow if Anthony is still cleaning up his messes for him. It was a bad move in the book (sorry JQ) and it would be a bad move in the show. I don't think they'll do it imo but they've made worse writing decisions lol.
I also don't think that Kate or Anthony will care (?) that much about Polin? I do think its wrong to say that they will react horribly to the LW reveal (if they even find out). Anthony would be mad at first, and Kate maybe too but they forgive and are ultimately loyal to family. If colin forgives pen, if they get engaged before its resolved like they do in the book, Kathony is sticking with family for no other reason than that's simply what they do. I don't foresee kate having any affinity for Pen, or caring about the featheringtons in any real way. I don't think Anthony gives a single fuck about that family at all tbh. But fam is fam and they'll come around to the match eventually even if there's initial resistance. But like i said i don't think that's something to worry about to much.
Taking your point about Eloise and Kate's relationship at a new angle--her duties as viscountess could coincide w the relationship with El (and hopefully helping with fran's debut with Violet too). Esp Els insecurities with a new sister out on the market, her BFF betraying her and also getting married herself, she will need someone in her corner. If bens being a depressive mess then she'll need someone like kate by her side. This could also def tie into the main plot tho, who knows!
Ultimately how they distribute non polin time will be interesting! A big question mark for me is the portia featherington of it all. She basically had her OWN large and detailed plot with jack. Violet basically got no time independent of her fam first 2 seasons--will portia now get the same treatment or still get her own again? (actually don't answer this. I'll get too bitter and negative when i don't wanna be). And will adding in fran content take up a lot of time? They need to build up the younger bridgertons, after all.
So...our Kathony content is contingent on a lot. We're probably all overestimating how much they can actually do with them, but the speculation is fun :)
