people will be like looking for subtle evidence for queer dean like oh he's in bisexual lighting here, he's referencing this niche queer media there.
meanwhile dean is just like "he was my gay thing" no further elaboration.

honestly something i find so fascinating is how queercoded/queerbaited relationships are often just. so much more interesting than actual canon queer couples and relationships. like obviously there are exceptions but even then a lot of those exceptions started off as just hints. and i feel like the reason for it is twofold, i suppose. when the queercoded ship is, well, coded, it means that the pair must be implied to be incredibly close, and in a way that is markedly different from how they are close to everyone else. their relationship goes beyond "friendship" and into "something else". the thing is that when they can't "make it gay" by having them actually kiss or state their true feelings, it forces the writer (at least if this is intentional) to write around the truth. they can't kiss, but they can hold hands. they can't kiss, but they can speak to each other in a way that indicates closeness. they can speak in hushed whispers. they can have nicknames for each other, an inside joke long since forgotten. they can't be together, but they can hang out together, cry together, laugh together, in a way that signals to the reader. this is love. it's honestly just good writing advice. think about a lot of cookie cutter couples. they're together, but why? why do they kiss? just because they don't want to be alone? why do we care? why should we be invested, why should they be together?
the problem, sometimes, with a lot of relationships, especialy in fiction, is that it falls into the pitfalls of why are they even together?
with queercoded relationships, the writer constantly has to justify it. why is it them? why are they here? what makes them special? why not someone, anyone else? why is this "friendship" so different from any of their other ones? since they can't write the truth, they have to write around it, and that's why it's so compelling. because there is that constant justification, telling the reader. this is why they should be together. this is why they are special to one another. this is why their bond is important. and honestly, that's why i like it. obviously, writers shouldn't have to justify a queer relationship any more than a straight one, but because they (historically) have been forced to, they make such interesting dynamics. personally i think of you're the only one i trust (mystique and destiny), you make me better (harley and ivy), you are a part of me (rahne and dani), and obviously, the classic, you are my dearest friend (too many examples of this to count).

leaving a lil rant here :]
I love Tim and his ships sm. Me personally, I only really ship TimKon. Those two are perfect for eachother and have so much clear queer coding that it’s crazy, and they have dialogue that’s just. gay shaped.
I also get TimBart, I don’t ship it romantically but I get why people do!! Tim and Bart are close as well, and the balance they get between ‘depressed tired wet cat’ and ‘living breathing embodiment of adhd’ is great.
I also get TimBartKon, they’re a trio. They are always a trio, so many people like to bring up how TimKon has so much coding and one of the big examples they use is when Tim tried to clone Kon. You know who else he tried to clone? Bart.
The only Tim ship I don’t get is TimBern, or any ship involving those two. When Bernard first appears, he’s Tim’s bully. He actively makes fun of tim and puts him down and then that character is forgotten about until Tim comes out as bi, then they just rework his character and go “haha guys this is his boyfriend not bully ygs are crazy” and just forget about all the bad stuff Bernard did? Reworking a character is great and all but, it just feels a bit weird and out of place for me. There’s always going to be that certain toxicity for TimBern, at least for me.
homie... bully??? im flabbergasted- im speechless- im jason todd (dead)
okay, im gonna start off by saying you have all the right to not ship them, and im not here to defend timbern as a ship. im here to defend BERNARD DOWD.
first thing bernard does is give tim advice about teachers, and he clearly says they're gonna be good friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if bernard was a bully, tim wouldn't hang around him so much. besides, i hate it when people place tim as a helpless little boy who would get bullied. he has put himself in situations where he looks weak on purpose to keep his identity safe, but he's not a victim at all. tim is a social butterfly because he's really good at masking and reading people.
not to mention, both bernard and darla push tim a lot because they're trying to get him to open up and be closer to them, but he keeps pushing them away. tim is a professional liar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and when tim has to quit robin and start hanging out with normal people, he invites bernard over.
and bernard is acting relatively normal, and he wants to play video games and talk about how hot tim's stepmom is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bernard is a normal teenager who has no idea one of his friends is the hero he's so obsessed with. he even shows concern for robin dying and makes up an entire conspiracy theory about batman havin a robin orphanage. you can tell he's afraid of robin being gone for real because at this point they haven't seen robin in months bc tim retired.
i dont know what about all of these interactions gave you the vibe that he's a bully because all i see is a normal teenager teasing his friends and being jealous tim gets more bitches.
im not saying that bernard was never mean or weird around tim, but he definitely wasn't actively bullying tim.
bernard is obnoxious and cocky, yes. but thats just because they wrote him as a real person. he's the school's chameleon, maybe even a little bit of a loser, too. he knows everyone but keeps a safe distance so that he doesn't get pushed into a box. im not sure if, at this point, he was already in a cult or being indoctrinated, but when we see his parents and the dowd home in tim drake: robin that just doesn't look right.
also homie talk about "forgetting all the bad things bernard did" (which in my opinion is none but okay lets follow that logic) everyone forget about all the bad things batman did to tim, he was not a kind and loving mentor, he was cruel to both tim and steph. we forget that batman was kind of an asshole to damien in the beginning. all those things are forgotten for the sake of the batfam.
in conclusion: we're just so used to the idea that superheroes can only ever form strong friendship bonds by having near death experiences together that we forget that the secret identifies exist and that the people who know them by their legal name also means a lot to them. after all, these people are the reason why they're heroes.

The last bit of episode 8 of season 3 is SO important to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Ignore the grey bar)
In this scene with El and Mike there's a bear sitting in the closet. A bear we also saw in Wills room in season 2 (I'm not sure if its season 1/2), so it's safe to assume that the bear is symbolism for Will. Mike grabs the bear, or in this situation Will, out of the closet and hands it to El (I'm not sure what that could mean besides the obvious queer coding; the symbolised Will in the closet). El then holds the bear between them, a bit strange how the bear, thats meant to represent Will, is between the two of them. Them they have an akward ass conversation about how they like presents.
Tumblr media
I'd also like to add that in this scene, El turns around and asks Mike if he remembers what he said when him and Max were arguing. Mike acts stupid and says that he doesn't that it was " really just heat of the moment stuff ", lying to her about the fact he said he loved her. She is visibly upset by that but ignores it and say she loves him too and then kisses him. We all know that infamous scene, Mike's expression doesn't change from disgust/confusion when she says she lives him, to after the kiss.
Tumblr media
He just blankly stares into the distance, as El turns around and smiles, then walking away.
Tumblr media
For reference, this is Mike after Will says that he wouldn't join anyone else's dnd party. A bit odd isn't it, micheal ?
Tumblr media
In this scene, when everyone's getting ready to leave, hopper is narrating his note he wrote for Mike and El, in the scene where it zooms into Mike Hopper says, "But lately, I guess I've been feeling, distant from you. Like your pulling away from me or something. I miss playing boardgames every night" it could be nothing, but it could very well be referencing how Mike feels.
Tumblr media
And when it cuts to Mike here on his bike behind the others, it says " changing ", and we see his demeanor change when El brings up him saying " I love her ", maybe a realisation ? We don't know. Mike did change alot this season, become alot more bratty so it could be referencing to that either. In hoppers note it then says " And I guess, if I'm being honest, that's what really scares me " as Mike looks back at Wills house. I assume this means Mike scared that him and Will will stop talking when Will moves away, going back to the "But lately, I guess I've been feeling, distant from you. Like your pulling away from me or something. I miss playing boardgames every night" it would make alot more sense that it's from Mike's pov.
Tumblr media
And as it cuts from Mike cycling away it says " and I dont things to change " whilst transitioning to will crying in the car with Jonathan. This is presumably true for both party's, neither Will or Mike want there bond to weaken and change over the time Wills away.
I'm very sorry if this isn't new to anyone, I haven't read that many analysis, nor watched any so this is all what I've picked up on.
Hope it makes sense !!!!

“If Tim Drake was meta, his ability would be shadow travel!”
“No, immortality!”
“No, shapeshifting!”
NO. NO. NO. HE WOULD BE SPIDER-MAN. FIGHT ME.
actual explanation:
All ‘weird’ behaviour he does? Spider things. Walk with me. Sleeping in the most random places, spider hibernation. Getting in on high building as a child, sticky. Bad eyesight (thats a personal hc), spiders are nearsighted. Really smart, although arachnids have brains that could literally fit on the head of a pin, the work of scientists suggests that they have capabilities we'd have no problem hailing as signs of intelligence if exhibited by animals with much larger brains. (I copied that off safari but my point stands)
Now, you’ve read that and you’re probably like “but, Connor, thats basically nothing, why are trying pushing spider-man! Tim for meta AU’s.” Well, my answer to that is: i don’t know. But lets compare Peter Parker and Tim Drake for a minute.
Tim:
Heavily shipped with his friends (Conner, Bart, Bernard, Cassie, the rest of the young justice98 line up)
Bi
Wears red
Photography as a hobby
Skateboards
Smart
Nerd
Two (+more) friends that wear red
Peter:
Heavily shipped with his friends/people he works with (Wade, Johnny, Harry, Ned, Harley, Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Felicia, Matt, Flash)
Queer coded/Bi
Wears red
Photography as a hobby
Skateboards
Smart
Nerd
Two (+ more) friends that wear red
See, basically the same person. “But Connor, when would Tim get bit by the spider, or are you just gonna say he was born with it.” Yes and no, i have no idea how meta powers work in dc, so we’re going with marvel mutants, stick with me.
Tim was born with a mutant (meta) gene, but it doesn’t awaken till he’s nine and gets bitten by the spider. The spider itself is a failed lab experiment from one of the rogues. He gets bit when he’s following batman and robin. It gets him sick and he doesn’t end up following them for a while because his body is changing. The robin (1 to 2) switch happens, Tim’s still in boarding school so he can’t follow them everyday anyways.
“If Tims robin, when does he become spider-man?”
I hc Tim as gender fluid, so he goes by arachnid. Anyways, he becomes that universe’s resident friendly neighbourhood arachnid when his red robin arch happens (AND HE STAYS AS ARACHNID, NO GOING BACK TO ROBIN SHIT!) Dick still tries (and fails) to get him to go to therapy, all that good stuff. He still meets Pru, Owen, and Z. They (minus Pru) dies. You know how the red robin arch goes. Explosion and losing spleens.
Now, this had derailed so much, but i’m going to derail it even more. Anita Fite is this worlds Deadpool, and Cissie King-Jones is this worlds Daredevil. Why is this? Because i said so, anyways this is how it works.
When being trained by her mother, Cissie gets into an accident, loses her sight, that goops/ooze things makes her “see” the world like Matt does. She proceeds to relearn archery with her disability, she becomes arrowette, then retires like in canon. But later on, she can’t just sit by and let everything happen. She goes to college and gets a law degree, she quits being an actresses. She opens a lawyer place thingy. But its not enough. So she dawns the mantle daredevil.
Anita Fite’s parents get kidnapped as an attempt to draw Empress out of hiding. She comes to get her parents back, but they get killed in the process. She gets nocked out, then when she wakes up she can regenerate and can’t die. She feels like she can’t go back to young justice so she takes up jobs as merc. Taking the name Deadpool.
Why did i decide to add them into why i think tim drake’s meta ability would be spiderman. This was because i was trying to get you guys to think about my team red! Tim, Cisse, & Anita. *insert evil laugh*
I will be drawing art for this later. Good day (do you guys want more of this, because i want more of it, and have to the one make it.)

looks like ur jekyll & hydeing it up......... so what do think of the repressive victorian culture turning jekyll's true wants and desires sick and violent..? :3
HIII ANON THANK U FOR THE ASK!!!!
OK SO. I NEED TO RE-READ THE BOOK CUZ ITS BEEN A FEW YEARS. BUT OOOOHH MANN I HAVE SOOO MUCH TO SAY ABT IT!!!
i kinda wanna compare the book to the 1931 adaptation (the best adaptation, the musicals rly good too though) bcz it sort of ends up combining victorian sexual repression w/ the recent sexual revolution AND THESE LEADS TO SOME REALLLYYY FASCINATING STUFF!!!! (and also, theres probably something to be said abt how a new moral panic/cultural repression in the form of the hayes code was on its way at the time, but i wont get into that... for now...)
i feel like. in the book there definitely IS this idea that like. societal repression is what made hyde (or rather jekyll, theyre the same guy in the book. well i mean. more so than adaptations at least) as fucked up as he is. but its kind of more implicit? also whatever desire jekyll has been keeping repressed is incredibly vague. presumably its not nearly as bad as murder since when hyde murders someone he freaks out. but we dont ever rly find out what it is, or if its something that a different (maybe, more modern society) might allow him to indulge in w/o endangering himself and others.
IN THE 1931 MOVIE HOWEVER. JEKYLL IS SOOO HORNY HES SOOO FUCKING HORNY ITS CRAZY!!!!! HE JUST WANTS TO HAVE SEX SO BAD !!!!!!! and like. in both the '31 movie and musical his stated reason for wanting to split ppl in half in the first place is that he wants the good halves to b free from the evil halves (and i mean in the musical this is def at least partially the truth) but his real reason is still the same as it was in the book, he wants to use it to help himself, and so that his evil half can be free from his good half. and in the context of a 1931 movie taking place in the victorian era, you're ABSOLUTELY supposed to view his "indecent desires" as pretty tame in actual badness compared to the way everyone treats them. he just wants to get married early! (to have sex w/ the woman he loves! whats wrong with that?) and he liked it when a pretty woman kissed him! (its miriam hopkins! who wouldnt?) so whereas the book could be interpreted as a warning abt the dangers of indulgence, the movie is much more clearly about the dangers of repression. im reminded of this clip:
it ALSO makes the indecent desire that goes unnamed in the book explicity sexual! imo its definitely easy to see it as implicity sexual in the book (and given victorian standards of sexual deviancy this makes it very easy to see a queer reading) but the fact that the thing he feels so guilty abt indulging in that he needs a whole separate identity to engage in it, and the fact that in the '31 movie that thing is just. innocent hetero horniness. like he just really wants to have sex w his fiance. and the only thing preventing this is her weird asshole dad w his arbitrary rules puts the movie firmly against sexual repression, and attributes (victorian) society's repressive influence to the cause of the tragedy. it almost becomes romeo and juliet-ish, where the arbitrary and stuffy expectations of a group of people end up ruining love and causing a tremendous tragedy. societal expectations about sex, like a family feud, end up being a completely meaningless barrier to happiness and we're absolutely supposed to see it that way. basically, if the couple was just allowed to get married sooner, or if jekyll was able to have sex before marriage, none of this would've happened.
ALSO. what i rly love abt jekyll and hyde is that even though they're constantly saying that jekyll is ALL the good parts and hyde is ALL the bad parts (in the book jekyll straight up decides himself which parts he thinks are good and which parts are bad, in adaptations its uh. less clear) HYDE is the one thats HAPPY. like, other than being evil in some vague way thats probably his most consistent trait. it would be another thing if hyde was grouchy and mean and miserable or something, but since hyde is absolutely DELIGHTED by his own evilness and jekyll spends all his time wallowing in shame, that means that for jekyll, to be good is to be miserable. its fun to think about how long this way of thinking had been ingrained in him, how this eventually led to the creation of hyde. how long has jekyll spent being suspicious and guilty over every little thing that makes him happy? its rly what sets jekyll and hyde apart from more explicit victorian morality tales, like in the coquette (pre-victorian, but whatever) and daisy miller, sexual over-indulgence leads to misery, and so the story is saying that moral (and especially, sexual) purity is the ONLY thing that can lead to happiness. whereas jekyll and hyde says that morality will not lead to happiness, and that for people like dr jekyll, they have to make an explicit choice between being good and being happy, and trying to be both will end up destroying them.

re: 'coded' language (/post/752041382197248000/one-of-my-biggest-pet-peeves-with-coding-people).
Yeah, I see 'x-coded' language not only for things that should definitely be labeled 'headcanon' or 'interpretation', but also for things that are always actually straight up directly canon as shown in text, the character just didnt turn to the viewer and say 'im x thing'.
-coded is specifically for things that the writers both a- intended to invoke the aesthetic of a minority, and b-did not explicitly show. There is a connotation of it being used for ill (queercoding villains, for example), as well, but it can also be used to get past censors. It usually involves Stereotypes to get this across.
Him, from Power Puff Girls is a good example of a queer coded character. He dresses femininely, often speaks in falsetto, and is very flamboyant to evoke a gay man doing drag without making him explicitly a gay man doing drag. He is also a villain. This is to evoke a gay man for the purposes of highlighting being evil without actually showing a gay man.
Anakin Skywaker from Star Wars is not 'BPD coded'. Bold of you to assume George Lucas put that much thought into his writing decisions and research process(and I say this with love of the prequels), and there isnt nearly enough bad stereotypes even if the writers were not people who just did whatever. Him being as well representative as he is is an ACCIDENT. This is an interpretation of canon or a well supported headcanon.
Rin Tohsaka from Fate Stay Night is not 'Bisexual coded', she is just canonically bisexual. In the original VN she fucks another girl and likes it. She says 'I didnt know I swung that way' at one point. The good ending is a FFM polycule with her. Thats not even getting into whatever going on in the spinoffs. Just because she doesnt use the words in a very old as hell and dated VN doesnt make her not canon bi. Calling that coding cheapens what it actually is and saying coding doesnt make the whiny dudebros yell at you less for pointing out the truth. You pull up your sources and you put up your middle finger and you say the canon with your whole chest.
Coded is not for canon things where the characters just didnt say certain words out loud, its not for things that were almost certainly accidents, its for winknudge stereotype coded language stuff like making the villain talk in a 'gay voice' and wear leather, or making a young boy who doesnt talk and is only focused on trains and doesnt respond to social cues and Is Therefore Sick.
Put this damn word on the top shelf, my god.

Hey hey your idea about Daiya being a closeted animator making the queerest character he could with Mondo sent me down a mental rabbit hole (pun unintentioned haha). It made me think of Andreas Deja, gay Disney animator who did and still does a lot of stuff for the company, but one of the things he's most famous for is for being the supervising animator on the queer-coded villain trifecta of Gaston, Jafar, and Scar. That made me think about Mondo in the context of the AU and how Ishimondo in canon has that sort of enemies-to-lovers thing going on. So, thought..... what if Mondo was never made to be Kiyotaka's love interest at all, but his queer-coded antagonist? And offscreen the queer-coding that was baked into him for a gag (or at least with the excuse that it's a gag) blossomed into something deeper with his cartoon co-star?
THATS SUCH A GOOD IDEA WHAT????
maybe they had something that was overall very similar to the ishimondo story, where their pre-determined roles as a protagonist and antagonist kinda affected how they viewed each other off set as well. because that’s how they just are outside of their cartoons as well. they were literally made to hate each other. but push comes to shove and they end up in a situation where they’re pretty much forced to spend time with each other and learn about each other beyond their roles as hero and villain. and the result of that was a cute friendship. which quickly developed into something more.
also. their relationship progressing like this really affected how they performed in their cartoons. they can’t even pretend to hate each other anymore because that’s not how they feel. it’s mondo and taka, what’re ya gonna do??
eventually the studio gets sick of it and has to make the decision to separate them, at least on set. they can’t just let go of their star, so they’re forced to fire mondo and replace him with a new antagonist. which is how mondo ends up performing in night clubs and such. his iconography is bound to attract a lot of patrons, to say the least.
all in all, mondo and taka’s love story is one the film world has never seen before. there’s never been a toon couple that wasn’t previously written to be together, let alone a hero and a villain falling in love off set. it’s a rare occurrence, to say the least, but mondo and taka wouldn’t have it any other way.
(also mondo being a villain and him also being queer-coded during a time where i believe the hays code was in full effect was definitely a big contributor to why so many people found it easy to believe mondo was cheating on taka right??? i mean, if we’re going in the direction of the original movie…)
Tumblr media
anyways, happy pride month to them.

[ These all wips , not posted anywhere yet - ramble post ]
Tbh cant wait to get done with Tres Flores our limbus buppies (not in a "im sick of it" more of "aa cant wait to do even more things !!!)
Our brain can only work on 1 thing at a time / focus on one very specific topic like 1 series at a time , it hard swap back n forth
---
But cant wait to work on Wish You Goodnight our original OC story we first thought of all the way back in 2016 when we were around 14 (yike time flies) ,
this current ver started around 2023 . This story was always planed to be a comic therefore everything about it is based around this . been work on on n off n havent touched it in a long while as working on Tres Flores
---
Tumblr media
this one here is one of our most fav page spreads
We rlly are a jack of all traits , we love doing a ton of art related things n , yes this does include comics n their composition
--
WYGN is about a monochrome world where color is only present in eyes or souls , however twist on idea is that this isnt shown as bad and just is normal world , it just way world is .
synopsis is just "In a world plunge in monochrome , The Sun and Star explored the beautiful world as memories pass on"
The story is not like Tres Flores at all , it very character based and more so a slice of life exploration of ideas kind story . no villains just character's lives stuff . also no queerphobia or ableism
This town is based on archiving colors , so this place specifically remember colors by using HEX codes and passing down stories of what things were , like how apples were red , green , and yellow .
Most places outside dont do this , or more so visit the town as a novelty and do a "oh thats what my color is related to . neat"
-
Tumblr media
story focuses lot on queerness , specifically gender queerness , and how its part of world
Theyre animals however very much human in mind (so the "theyre just cartoon talking animals" is not this at all) , but as animals , they all experience gender different therefore express and explain it different . its part of the society and unique tailored to story
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and also because animals , disability is very much part of it all too , and us making up tools so that all these characters can logically do everything . it just casually part of world
--
it makes us happy write this as we many queer n intersex n disabled , and poc specificly cambodian . we not see ourselves at all in media , not even in ocs or other's webcomics or creations stuff . existing is lonely
love the wuppers

If you had the Power of Editorial for one decision in the DC writers room and one decision only, what would you push?
gnome my friend i have to imagine you would not have asked if you were not prepared for the possibility of a very long answer!!
ok look look look so before i answer this you have to understand that jokes are one of the most important things to me in the world, especially jokes that are also something true and genuine and meaningful because those things are not mutually exclusive and often when put together can make something extraordinary. like the barbie movie you understand
the short answer: make Connor Hawke aromantic so a Green Arrow can be a Green Aro
the long answer!! i've talked a bit about my feelings regarding aro/ace representation in media and especially fanfiction before, so i'll try to keep this brief, but the thing i want to bring up here is that there is not a lot of aro/ace rep that can be explicitly confirmed within the media the characters are from. maybe it wouldn't be in character, or they don't have the word aromantic in the setting and let's be real a character saying they don't want to date is unfortunately still going to be regarded as being only aromantic coded, if that. Connor is already explicitly asexual, so (quick disclaimer that i haven't read a lot of his more recent stuff) it's already believable that he both 1. knows the term aromantic, and 2. would use that as a word to describe himself if he was.
moving on, Green Aro is probably one of the best missed out puns of all time i'm literally foaming at the mouth thinking about it, but it's also a pun that is genuinely meaningful. first of all, the aro/arrow wordplay isn't new, and the joke is a reference to and acknowledgement of aromantic community and history.
second, in terms of character relevance, i'll start with showing you something I found funny: last year for pride month, dc universe infinite (the terrible official dc comic reading platform) did a little pride round up. Connor was in there! i ended up taking this screenshot and sending it to my friends because the text cut off is hilarious:
Tumblr media
like haha yeah celebrate dc pride. this guys got daddy issues. but for real, he has daddy issues!! he was getting bullied and getting into fights and the brilliant solution that he ended up going with to resolve all that was to go to a MONASTARY for the reason of HIS DAD WENT THERE. like my guy became a whole entire monk because his daddy issues were so bad. anyways, he continues to deal with his daddy issues by taking up the green arrow mantle after ollie dies the first time. and we all know about chuck dixon's habit of writing characters with such an insane agenda that he ends up unintentionally making them undeniably queer, connor is such a massive offender that he gets asked if he's gay genuinely so many times. like actually so many times. eventually i plan to make a full list of exactly how many times and also rank them because that would be funny for me, but its so many times.
anyways, he gets asked if he's gay because of his disinterest in women, which is a trait that im pretty sure multiple characters including connor himself bring up with regards to how that makes him different from his father. oliver queen is, or at least has been, canonically a womanizer. he slept around enough before he became ga that he didn't recognize connors mom when she told him he was pregnant, and he cheated on dinah which is crazy why would anyone cheat on dinah, and his relationship with dinah is such a long running and significant relationship in dc history. he is undeniably both romantic and sexual, while connor has brief relationship with a ghost which is. look that's just so aroace to me i dont know what to tell you. (im ignoring shado on purpose thats a whole other conversation)
being aromantic often means feeling pressure in some kind of way to find or want a romantic relationship. a lot of the time this pressure will come from family or friends telling you to find a relationship or being in relationships themselves. The entire world at large often puts pressure on people to have this great and grand and sweeping love story, whether people are inspired by fictional stories or real life examples. for connor, looking up to his father with his grand and sweeping love story, i mean like. to me this sounds like an amazing pressure pot for comphet.
so, to me, the green aro joke has a deeper and more specific meaning for connors character: it's about how he wants to emulate his father, and it's about how he's different from his father. It's about how there aren't a lot of examples of happy aromantic endings, and it's about the struggle to forge our own happy endings without those examples, and it's about how even though it might be difficult to find them, happy aromantic endings exist. and it's also a joke that makes me laugh.
anyways, thanks for reading all that!! and thank you for giving me the excuse to ramble about my guy!!! :DDD

whats fnafhs (full permission to infodump if u want)
Tumblr media
ME APPEARING TO EXPLAIN MY HYPERFIXATION WHEN I WAS 9-12 YEARS OLD
okay
let's seee
fnafhs or five nights at freddy's highschool.
the homestuck for hispanic 2016 kids.
oh boyyyyy
OKAY, It all starts with eddochan, a mexican youtuber who made videos of gameplays, geeky stuff, and mini storytime animations or fandoms like yandere simulator.
She had a somewhat small community but she always released weekly videos, when fnaf rose to fame she made videos like gameplays and speedpaints of her human versions that could easily be the beta designs for fnafhs.
youtube
one day eddochan uploaded a video of "what would happen if the fnaf animatronics were teenagers?"
this video received enough support for eddochan to upload animated shorts of the characters from now on (and yes, the comment that started this is lost media)
youtube
the series was made for fun, it was not serious at all and over time it gained more and more fans and the series began to be taken more seriously visually and with a story somewhat...
ok, it's 2016, AN ERA OF HORRORS FOR FANDOMS, it was no surprise that the fnafhs fandom was seen by others as toxic for childish reasons and because it was full of kids, and adding that the story was a hodgepodge of highschool musical stereotypes and with no fidelity to the game beyond the names of the characters, that made fnaf fans hate this webseries and it's fandom.
anyway, the years passed and the series went through 3 seasons and little relevant miniseries but the third was the point of greatest decline, when the writing went to hell and it became sailor moon and forgor ABOUT ALL THE FUCKING PLOT WITH THE BANDS AND THE HIGHSCHOOL LIFE
seeing that people began to get disappointed and the third season required more production, Eddo had to cancel the series and some time later she made a series that failed.
now we are in 2022, fnafhs was dead and suddenly eddo came out of her cave and announced a REMAKE !1!1!1!
BUT
VUT
but.
☹️
the stars aligned and that same week it came to light that many voice actors from the main cast were doing horrible things.
and yk, predators, transphobic, groomers, lolicons, ALL THE SHIT, that obviously resonated not only in the fandom and eddo had to postpone things and disassociate these people from the project and others voluntarily disassociated themselves, ex: golden's voice actor mysteriously left the project and this year it was discovered that he had been grooming an underage fan for years.
Well, after these things that not only stained the reputation of the series but also Eddo's (who also had a couple of conflicts with the fandom on twt because they called her out bc of the queerbait and she even went so far as to make a CLEARLY trans-coded character a cis boy when in the series their gender was confusing to the cast and ambiguous, yk it was 2016, people confused tomboys w transmascs.)
Tumblr media
WDYM THATS A CIS BOY????
Tumblr media
in the series they used she/her pronouns, when people called out to eddo bc of her misinformation about lgbtq topics (in a fandom full of queer people) she tried to change this canon and made puppet enby wirt any pronouns, FINALLY
Currently the series is paused, Eddo was going to make an animated series, then a manga, not much is known since it was supposed to come out last year, but well, the fandom is more active on twt, There is now a fanmade remake that is well done for being made by fans and a fanmade movie in production.
this series it's just hispanic homestuck.
Tumblr media
heres the first episode's designs !! (the style was progressively improving but this is the most iconic one)
Tumblr media
2d season!!
Tumblr media
eww eww fhs z3ro EW EWW
Tumblr media
and FINALLY the official remake.

So, I'm not into any specific ships. No hate to any shippers, anyone can ship whoever they want. But, I can't help but notice that BNHA for the last 20- 25 chapters really focused on BKDK. Like, is the mangaka really want to focused only on Midoriya and Bakugou's relationship? Sorry if I'm wrong. Kinda like, until the end, all that Naruto think about only Sasuke, right? What do you think?
⚠️(This post isn't safe for bkdk shippers proceed with caution)⚠️
Iam not sure what horikoshi himself plans to do with BKDK and if he really wants to make it canon. I sometimes doubt that horikoshi would actually do it (I honestly don't want him to make it canon) but it's a possibility at this point.
It makes sense that BKDK would be promoted a lot in the manga especially now because of what majority of the fanbase likes. I guess what Iam trying to say is that majority of the fanbase likes and hypes up BKDK. Heck have you seen some bk stans who would see like one panel of bk and that's all they would talk about in the chapter instead of actually understanding the stuff thats going on. Now this obviously doesn't apply to every bk or BKDK fans but it applies to a lot of them.
I kinda of get where you're coming from when you say that BKDK and Sasunaru are similar but I believe that they aren't in the way they're written. To me Sasunaru has better development and build up but that isn't to say that it's also heavily flawed and the Naruto ending + war arc was horribly written. A lot of the time Naruto's character is lacking (and thats something that a lot of Naruto blogs have rightfully pointed out) so whenever he would talk and it would be about sasuke it may feel like thats the only thing he talks about without him developing as a character learning about his clan, the corruption in the system and what it actually means to be hokage.
I feel like when it comes to BKDK the reason it gets so much attention from hori is because he himself focuses on it to please the fans whereas with sasunaru it's a bit complicated because sure it's somewhat well written (honestly it could use a lot of work with both characters especially naruto), has a large fanbase (as far as iam aware) but i dont think you can hse the reason of "kishi simply wrote them to please fans and he was never gonna make them canon".
Don't quote me on this but I remember hearing that apparently Naruto and sasukes dynamic was written and somewhat inspired by some BL manga like devilman crybaby so I see where the queer coding of that relationship comes from.

detective fiction and the RCM
ive been thinking a lot about the RCM since playing disco elysium (especially because some dear friends asked me to use my detective fiction thesis knowledge on a powerpoint night about it) and it's such an odd and nuanced corner of the text that's made so much more complicated when approaching the work as a piece of political occupation fiction
when you get into the academia/lit theory about detective fiction, one of the first and most consistent things you'll read is that most of it is about a person (who the reader thinks they relate to) punishing undesirables on behalf of the government--William W Stowe puts it very well (and very bluntly) in this paper:
"Politically, morally, and epistemologically, detective fiction tends to affirm rather than to question, to take social structures, moral codes, and ways of knowing as givens, rather than subjecting them to thorough, principled criticism. In conventional detective stories crime is usually seen as a symptom of personal evil rather than social injustice, and the detective is depicted as an ideal incarnation of competitive individualism" (570, emphasis mine).
(i could get into how disco elysium does a ton of stuff to break out of that but it would be a long aside--thats a meta for another time)
in short, detective fiction is usually about affirming the idea that individual punishment is an effective and desirable way of controlling "undesirable" people, particularly coded as jewish, immigrants, communists, queer, etc. (if anyone's interested more in the marginalized coding of detective villains i can hook you up w some reading material btw)
so that being said, what the hell do you make out of the remnants of a rebel army who now enforce the repressive law of an occupying government, are the only citizens who get any kind of political representation in said occupying government, and whose leader is actively plotting an insurrection? theyre this really fraught and interesting microcosm of how the Moralintern has attempted to occupy Revachol (especially structurally and psychologically). on the one hand, they uphold an occupier's law which asks them to punish people their broken system has failed (particularly disabled and queer women, which ill get into later), while on the other, they cant quite escape into individualism, and as a department, seem deeply haunted by a spirit of collectivism and ICM-era tradition. the few we see seem to be at a breaking point of faith in procedure (especially when procedure actively harms someone's wellbeing), but we dont have any way of knowing if that's a department-wide culture or an individual experience
you definitely have your conservative/centrist figures who "affirm rather than question," (or, like kim, just do their best not to think about it), but it's hard to use classical detective fiction theory with the RCM. this classical theory assumes the detective is a willing and obedient appendage of the government, even if it's one that sees the rest of the body as corrupt and flawed. what do you do with an appendage trying to tear itself off?
in a lot of ways, they remind me of the union--distanced from their ideal "people serving the people" through systemic corruption of overbosses and the capitalist/imperialist system, now just trying to keep their heads up and stay alive. theyre also a lot like the union in that the potential for revolution is there, percolating, and hopeful(?)--you just have to have a high enough score in your camaraderie skill (esprit de corps) to see it

can media please leave alt people alone?
ok so I just watched Ten Inch Hero with Jackles and decent movie ok, i liked it fun plot and stuff (horribly unsatisfying ending for half the characters), anyways besides the point-
Jackles character in this movie is a punk rock looking fucker with a fuck ton of piercings and his hair color changes every time we see him and he spikes it up in fun ways and his shirts look homemade with silly sayings like "I sell crack for the CIA" and "No one knows I'm a lesbian" and he even wears a kilt! How fun right? (Also his facial hair is shaved into a funky looking thing). Throughout the movie it's hinted he's into one of his coworkers but he never says anything and she doesn't notice him as more than a friend/coworker. Well at the end of the movie he walks into their place of work (fun little sub shop run by hippie) and he's a completely different person. Clean shaven, flat hair, no piercings, slacks and fucking button up (Jackles can rock anything no dig to him). Fucking what. Excuse me??? Jackles character just berated one of their friends for thinking she didn't look hot enough to get the guy and then he went and changed his entire fucking look to get this girl. It makes me so fucking pissed. Like what alt people can't get the normal looking chick because they have piercings and look a little different? I saw people on reddit like "He hid behind his punk stuff and thats who he truly is" you want a boring ass white bitch over a silly motherfucker who wears kilts and spikes his hair up all fun? To each their own I guess but where's my movie where the alt person doesn't get "normalified" and still gets their person.
Also The Breakfast Club is wonderfully horrible example of this. Allison. She's weird and creepy and all dressed in black and I loved her and she was like me. I could relate to her, antisocial barely talking just a silly little girl behavior. And then bam they decided no we have to make her wear pink and put her hair back and give her proper makeup and then she can get the guy. That's not who she is. Like they ruined her what the fuck. Let alt people be for the love of fuck.
Not to mention both of these characters are also queer coded as fuck so side topic media please stop erasing queer alt people thanks <3
(also everyone in the Breakfast Club is queer coded)

as a queer person, this fandom is one of the most accepting places for queer people i have seen, despite the original source queerbaiting at best and fetishizing at worst. as a person of color however, the amount of times i have seen people completely ignoring the fact that despite not explicitly said in canon, aphmau is indeed latina and hispanic, with her mother speaking spanish, i have seen people white washing or making characters like aphmau, keori from pheonix drop days, zenix, teony, and countless ither characters racially ambigous and with eurocentric features is INSAANE. thats not even mentioning the stereotyoing of werewolfs, meif’was and so many more non human characters often being coded as people of colors and non western / eurocentric cultures and making them out to be the bad guys whilst the human characters and good guys are often depicted as white and european. so yk. i agree w last anon talking about how ppl ignore the rampant racism in favor of focusing on the gay stuff that went bad 5 years ago.
im not saying that we shouldent focus on the bad queer repensantation. im just saying we cant only focus on that when the racism in this fandom and space is rampant and often goes ignored.
