got the tldr of the vid that I'm Not Watching All That & somewhat amusing how the straw breaking the camel's back for people over James Somerton is his blatant and unashamed plagiarism (as it should be genuinely i don't think you can nor should recover from this) like he hasn't regurgitated for years vile, unempathetic, ahistorical and Purely Just Wrong information about gay history including about the fight for legal same-sex marriage in the US and the AIDS crisis. like an alarming amount of people truly heard his ass say "all the good fun funky artistic and radical gays died of aids and all those who were left were unfun stuck-up prudes and conservatives also the fight for legal same-sex marriage was an assimilationist ploy by the latter who just wanted big gay weddings" as if the gay men who survived the epidemic didn't literally lose lovers and friends and entire communities and long-term partners who they shared a life with and who were denied any crumb of this previous life at their death because there was no legal recognition for same-sex cohabitation and unions and their homophobic family could tear everything from the surviving partner thanks to this lack of recognition and let it slide.
some people out there were truly so eager to shit on the boring assimilationist prude gays who survived aids by being stuck-up prudes and who just wanted "big gay weddings" they made up in their minds to get mad at that they turned their brains off and let it slide. they could've used their smoothed-out brains for ONE minute & found out that surviving took 1) plain boring luck and 2) radical, loud, proud gay activists campaigning for safe/safer sex and the information campaigns they led, as well as the protests and demonstrations they undertook to make the government fucking care for once. and that legally-recognized unions [be they civil or religious] were a matter of survival for the partner left behind. some people out there truly let a business major with a turtleneck (possibly the definition of boring) passing himself off as cool and radical and an intellectual tell them homophobic bullshit. and did not blink. like OF COURSE this guy's gonna be a plagiarist. he needs to get his information from SOMEWHERE. because when he tries to formulate his own stuff it's complete fabrications or the frankensteining of multiple sources that he manages to misunderstand/misrepresent threefold over. trying to fit a knit sock over the foot with the inside out and wonder why that itches.
i know many people in his audience are likely very young and also likely american and as such did most of their growing up in a world where their country (1 out of 195. give or take.) had legalized gay marriage but i cannot even begin to describe 1) how Young legalized gay wedding is, even in ""the west"" and 2) how many. other countries there are. my country legalized same-sex marriage before the US did. i am not even 25 and i still remember the hordes of catholics marching down the streets chanting homophobic slogans, implying the only reason two mommies or two daddies would want to raise a child together is for nefarious, vile purposes. i still remember families having to drag their asses into court to argue that, yes, a woman who raised a child for its whole life with another woman she's in a long-term committed cohabitated relationship with should have the right to be considered a direct guardian even if she's not biologically related to the child, and spending thousands of bucks having to argue their case in court. this might be shocking to some, but there are countries where homosexuality is punishable by death. in others, not by death, but by imprisonment. in others, not by imprisonment, but by ""medical intervention"". in others, not by ""medical intervention" but by fines. and in some others still, you can be gay (yay!) but you still cannot get married or civil-unioned, and the very same shit that was discussed in the 80s is still discussed now. the right to stay a guardian of your partner's child if your partner dies or is ill, so the kid does not go into foster care. the right to inherit your partner's property according to married rights instead of having through long annoying time- and money-consuming legal processes. the right to arrange your partner's funeral or have a say in their medical choices if they're incapacitated instead of their (potentially homophobic) families.
like We Are Not There Yet. we are not in a world where any homosexual can truly, fully, wholeheartedly assimilate, whether you consider it a good thing or not. fun gay artists and boring uninteresting gay office workers die the same death that we all do. the one you don't wake from. and guess what. all types of homosexuals, regardless of which ones you pick and choose to be mad at, are affected by homophobic legislation. not just the ones you think should be spared because they're oh so fun. and oh so radical.
donate to the rainbow railroad org if you can. they help LGBT+ people escape state-sponsored violence. a singular nail on one of their members' hand does more activism and real-life good than any mfer making video essays could do in his entire life.

Alternative, Season 1 Episode 16 part 2 of 2: "Winter of '85"
(WARNING: This blog contains fights between Werewolves and Vampires, a bit of an obvious parody of Twilight but hey, enjoy the blog!)
In a room at Monty Ranch
Patrizio and Claudio were talking about what they would do with Regan.
Claudio: I think we've gone too far with this conflict... We'd better return the girl!
Patrizio: My son, you don't understand anything about this fight! It's about who's in charge in Veronaville, not who lives in Veronaville!
Claudio (looking at Regan sadly): Dad... we better take her home, look at her, she's sleepy...
After being convinced by his eldest son, Patrizio took Regan near the Capp Mansion. The girl ran to her father with great emotion.
Tumblr media
Regan: Father!!
Consort (hugging her daughter): Regan! Where have you been? Did those filthy bastards Monty do something to you!?
Regan: They didn't do anything to me, they just let me back.
In the distance Patrizio looked coldly at the scene, he hated Consort, but he couldn't hurt a Capp child.
Time passed, winter ended leaving great tension in Veronaville... It is the year 1986, many things have happened, the new baby Capp named Kent, has been born... Meanwhile, Alexander returned with his family and friends, for which he decided to tell them all about the Rutherford family.
Alexander: And they had me kidnapped in a room that looked like a gym, but one day, the one who was watching me went out to see a movie and I did everything possible to escape.... And here I am.
Tumblr media
John Smith: But why would they do that to you? Did you ever meet a werewolf?
Alexander (confused): No, I met a psychopath obsessed with my ex-girlfriend... I think he's the worst thing in the universe...
Mortimer (Analyzing the situation): My son, you must be very careful, there are many evil people who only want our money and our fortune, look what happened with Dina... But she is in for a big surprise, Kvornan and Kiernan, How are you doing with "Project M"?
Tumblr media
Kiernan: Very good sir, I've already resurrected him and guided him to Miss Dina's house!
Kvornan: Hey, don't take all the credit Kiernan, I did everything too! What's more, I was the one who found a way to bring him to life and make him immortal!
At that moment Bella Goth arrives, who was a little confused
Bella: Hello my love!, Good afternoon guys!
Mortimer: Hi my dear, how's it going? The boys and I are talking about Alexander's kidnapper.
Tumblr media
Bella (As an idea occurred to her): I have a plan!...
Later
At the Rutherford Family Home
Kenneth, Leandra, Marissa, Geoff, and Jason were talking about Alexander's whereabouts.
Tumblr media
Geoff (angry): But, who let that asshole get away!? EVERYTHING IS RUINING!!, First Ekaterina has disappeared and now Alexander has escaped!!.
Marissa: Father, we want Alexander Goth dead or alive!!
Kenneth (a little exhausted): My children, dad is already too old to hunt haha! Now it's Geoff's turn to do the hunting!
Jason and Leandra looked a little uncomfortable at the conversation, the gray-haired woman noticed that her daughter's boyfriend was tied by her hands, that scared her a little and reminded her of when she was also kidnapped by Kenneth. Outside the house, Alexander, Kiernan, and Kvornan were looking intently at everything.
Tumblr media
Kvornan: Hey Alex, what are we supposed to do?...
Alexander: I want to enter the house and find out if they have a plan against us... Let's go guys!
The three men continued on their way, stealthily until they came face to face with Geoff.
Tumblr media
Geoff (Looking seriously at Alexander): What are you doing here Alexander!? Do you want me to lock you in a room again?
Alexander (provoking Geoff): This time I'm not afraid of you Geoff!!, I know very well that you're just a psychopath!.
Tumblr media
The redhead began to laugh hysterically, as he looked at Alexander.
Geoff: So you know me very well, huh? Well, it looks like you don't even know anything about my family!... I'll count to 10, and I hope you leave... 1...2..3...4..5...6..7. ..8..9..
Tumblr media
As Geoff Counted, he was transforming into a werewolf, this revealed his true self, which scared Kvornan too much.
Tumblr media
Kvornan (scared): He's a werewolf! John Smith was right!
Geoff (Completely transformed into a werewolf): And 10!!, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO RUIN MY PLAN!!
Tumblr media
The werewolf attacked Alexander, the two began to fight. As Kvornan and Kiernan made their way to the Rutherford house, they were interrupted by Kenneth and Marissa, who glared at them.
Kenneth and Marissa: Where do you think you're going!?.
Kiernan and Kvornan let their vampire side show, so they started attacking Kenneth and Marissa. Suddenly Alexander saw that he too had become a vampire.
Geoff: Are you a bloody vampire!? Damn it, Father! Aren't vampires extinct?
Alexander: Same with werewolves.
Just at that moment Mortimer arrived (in his vampiric form). Which was seriously looking at the scene.
Mortimer: What the hell is going on here!? Alexander, Kiernan, Kvornan please calm down!!.
Kenneth (looking at Mortimer): So here we have the famous Mr Goth aka "Count Mortimer" or rather the "Thief Count"!!
Tumblr media
Mortimer: Kenneth, you've grown a lot since the last time we met... And how's everything going with your "wife" Leandra? You haven't freed her have you?
Kenneth: Leandra really loves me and that's why she's with me!!.
Mortimer (evilly): I found out that your son kidnapped my son, and above all he wants to do something to Alex's ex-girlfriend!
Geoff: And who do you think you are to tell me what I do or not do with my dearest Ekaterina?
Kenneth: Pack, let's go... I feel like if I spend too much time with these vampires I'll die!
Once the werewolves were gone Alexander, Kiernan, Kvornan and Mortimer continued talking.
Alexander: Dad, could you explain to me why I became a vampire?...
Tumblr media
Mortimer (explaining everything to Alexander): Son, your grandparents were vampires, as were your great-grandparents and I... There are many things that I will have to explain to you little by little, especially about other supernatural creatures... Guys, let's go to the mansion please!

Your writing is my favourite 🥀 Anymore John Stones fics please?
ask, and you shall receive kind anon
here to help
this has been on my mind since i wrote our girl so here’s how john and reader met for that little fic
Tumblr media
From the moment you woke up - or rather were woken up this morning - you’d been having one of those days. One of those ‘i really hope no one sits next to me on the train’ days. One of those everything makes you want to cry days. Just one of those days.
Maybe it was the sleep deprivation, the late nights and early mornings or the fact that no minute of the day was your own. You were exhausted, drained and in dire need of a long sleep and some food that didn’t come out of a microwave and taste awful.
Probably wouldn’t happen anytime soon.
Except today wouldn’t be one of those ones where someone sits next to you on the train when you would have preferred they didn’t, because when you got on the train that evening after another long day with dark circles under your eyes and an empty stomach because you’d been too busy to take lunch and were run off your feet, there wasn’t a single fucking seat on that train.
Well, one empty seat taken up by a man’s briefcase and umbrella. It was abundantly clear that he had done that so no one would sit next to him and you barely even had the energy to be annoyed. You had made eye contact a short while after getting on and he simply shook his head at you with a scowl. Whether he was saving the seat for someone or he just didn’t want anyone next to him didn’t matter to you, you felt like your legs were going to buckle beneath you and the weight of the two bags you had to carry over one shoulder while your other arm supported the weight of your world while you hold onto the sticky yellow pole with your other hand so you don’t go flying when the train screeches to a stop.
You approached the guy in the suit, eyes pleading. “Look, is there any way that i could-” He cuts you off by pointing the earphones he was wearing and shrugging his shoulder before looking out the window on his left. You might’ve fought, argued with him and gotten yourself a seat, but you just didn’t have that kind of fight in you today and would rather just let him be obnoxious than cause an embarrassing scene on the train.
More embarrassing that you already had at least, trying to wrangle a screaming baby.
There was one man who’s eyes you had felt on you on and off for pretty much the entire time he had been on the train. You were assuming he was judging something about you; be that the exhaustion present in your body and in your face or the way you struggle to hold everything at once. You honestly could’ve cried, everything just felt like it was so, so much. You felt like you were in survival mode, existing only to exist and nobody cared. People looked in and nobody cared.
Until he did.
The tall guy with long legs and fluffy, almost curly, brown hair steps past you, brushing past your shoulder where you stand again in the space near the train doors holding onto the pole. He stands in front of the man you had tried to confront three minutes ago and anger bubbles up under the surface at the thought of him getting that seat.
“Come on mate.” He says, his voice much louder than yours was and more commanding than yours ever would be. The man in the suit takes out his earphone with furrowed eyebrows and a remaining frown. “That’s a spare seat,” he points at the brief case and umbrella sitting, “And that woman just asked you for it.” People start to cast their eyes to him with many sporting subtle grins at this man hogging a seat being put in his place.
“So?” he snarks.
“So?” The tall one echos incredulously, “She’s got a baby with her mate, it’s not safe to be standing there. Just move your shit.” He scoffs, his voice feeling to an irritated grumble. The other guy shakes his head firmly. “Don’t want to be sitting next to a whining baby, do i?”
“It’s alright,” you insist with a sigh and flushed cheeks, “I’ll be fine, honest-“
“No,” he holds up a hand as he turns to offer you a soft smile, his eyes determined as he turns back to the other man. “Move yourself then,” he growls, leaning himself down to get closer so he can speak more hushed as he tightens his muscles and clenches his jaw, “Or I’ll fucking move you myself.”
The guy huffs, grabs his crap and stands up, pushing past the tall man and glaring at you as he passed. You would never have fought it like that, but your aching legs are thankful and someone did. He gives you a smile, helping you into the inside seat before moving to walk away when he hears your voice. “You can sit there, if you like?”
You fully expect him to reject. Not many would want to sit next to ragged looking woman with. slobbery teething baby who keeps making sounds as though she’s going to start wailing at any moment. But his lips just stretch back into that smile as he turns and takes the seat next to you happily. “Thank you for that,” you mutter quietly, cheeks still flushed. He shrugs his shoulders, turning his eyes to your little girl in your lap. “Don’t mention it,” he smiles, waving his large at the eight month old. “I’m John.”
You shake his hand, “(y/n).” You greet in response.
“(y/n),” he repeats, eyes sparking. “And who’s this little lady eh? She’s adorable.” He coos at your daughter chewing on her fingers. You while her chin with the bib she’s wearing carefully to catch her teething dribbles, “This is Poppy, she’s teething. Sorry.” You grimace, referencing to her unhappy gurgles and constant wriggling.
“Don’t be silly,” he insists, “There are far worse passengers to sit next to, isn’t that right little miss Poppy?”
You almost feel your eyes getting a little wet at his kindness to you and to her. It seems as though you don’t get it that much these days. You’d thought that single mother had a bit more respect these days, but it seemed as though it wasn’t much better than you’d thought it would be at it’s worst. But John was kind, he was sweet and funny, cooing at the little girl until she giggled back at him, patting his face with John just laughing off your apology.
“Here,” John begins as the train pulls into the station that he knew was his stop and appeared to also be yours, “let me get those.”
Before you can even protest he lifts up the well stocked baby bag, slinging it over his shoulder as he picks up your own bag and and helps you out if your seat.
He talks and you laugh at his jokes for the entire walk to your car. You wouldn’t usually humour many people, very least men but he was funny and kind and your heart has already warmed up to him so quickly. The way he puts your bags in the boot and hands Poppy her little teething key ring as you clip her into her car seat. She gurgles happily at him with a big gummy smile and god your heart sings at the sight of him getting on so well with your little girl who’s dad left a week and a half after she was born much to your heartache.
“Sorry if this too forward,” he clears his throat, shuffling nervously between his feet. “But i’d love to see you again…both of you.”
Your heart lights up, your cheeks flushing a soft red as you smile up at him, nodding. “That would be nice.” You reply, pulling your phone out your back pocket to pull up your number from him to put into his phone. “I’ll call you tonight.” He promised.
And call you he did, shortly after 7 and talked to you for two hours while you fed and put the baby to bed and before you knew it, you had a close friend offering to take Poppy for the night so you could go to dinner with John. Then Poppy got sick and you had to cancel, thinking you’d completely scuppered any chance at this relationship until John showed up on the doorstep with a food in a bag and some candles. He cooked, you bathed the baby and he took pictures of you both giggling hysterically with her penguin towel wrapped around her with the little hood over her sparse hair. He’d never smiled so much in all of his life.
You ate John’s meal at the kitchen table when she went to bed he stayed the night when you both fell asleep on the couch.
From that day forward, this was John’s family.
His perfect little family.

**********************************************************************
Her first thought when she opened the front door to the Coast City apartment and saw her dad in a headlock by Kyle and Kyle in a headlock by Guy who was in one by John, who was in one by her dad, was: this is totally and completely normal.
The second thought: that nothing involving her father and uncles ever surprised her anymore, occurred to her as said father and said uncles stopped arguing with one another and cocked their heads up, looking at her, each of their faces exhibiting the epitome of “I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar” shock, in which she merely returned with a blank stare before closing the door behind her, marching into the kitchen with the grocery bags.
Of course, that also meant the second she did, they were stumbling in to explain what had brought them to the unfortunate moment of head-locking each other, but also to see what she’d bought and what she was going to cook for dinner. She paid them no mind, ducking under arms and between bodies as she maneuvered around them kitchen, putting things away.
Someone curled an arm around her neck, pressing their lips to her temple. “Hey Raptor.”
She smiled. “Hey dad.” Tossing a beer behind her, she added, “Uncle Guy. Uncle John. Kyle.”
Guy caught his beer, popping the tab, and Kyle looked at her, crossing his arms over his chest. “How come everyone else is ‘uncle’ and I’m not?” he looked hurt. “Am I somehow different, (Y/N)?”
She paused and threw another beer behind her. “Kyle, were almost the same age. I’m not calling you my uncle because John and Guy are older than both of us.”
“Not that much,” he griped, popping his beer tab. “It still hurts my feelings.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes and handed John the final beer. “Would it make you feel better if I told you I considered you to be my favorite cousin?”
Kyle smiled at her. “Yes, it would.”
She nodded then glanced at Hal. “Dad, tacos or burgers?”
“I dunno.” He said, glancing at the others. “You guys?”
“Burgers.”
“Tacos.”
“Burgers.”
She cocked a brow and looked at her father. “Seems like you’ll either make a tie or a win.”
“I have been thinking about good tacos, Raptor,” he replied, and she nodded.
“Tacos it is.” Guy and John groaned, and she shot them a glare. “Hey! Lock that shit up or I’m not cookin’.” Immediately they shut their mouths, listening to Kyle and Hal snicker. “Buncha children.” She griped, dumping the ground beef into a skillet to brown.
“So, (Y/N),” Guy drawled, leaning against the kitchen counter. And honestly, the entire kitchen was way too small for four grown men and a grown woman to be in at one time, but she’d gotten used to it, so why fix what wasn’t broke.
“So, Uncle Guy.” She repeated, shifting the meat around with the spatula.
“Why exactly did you start working at the Wayne Enterprises branch here?”
She could feel the eyes of her family on her back, and she couldn’t help but roll hers. “Maybe because Mister Wayne pays good salaries to his employees and his health insurance coverage is fantastic?” (Y/N) glanced over her shoulder. “But something tells me you’re asking for another answer.”
He grinned. “Which son of Wayne’s are you dating?”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes again. “I love you, but you’re an idiot.” She turned back to the pan. “I’m not dating any of his sons. Dick’s with Koriand’r, Jason’s a douche-bag, and their brothers are way too young.”
“Doesn’t he have a daughter?”
“Cass is dating a girl she goes to college with.” She took an onion from the basket against the kitchen wall atop the counter. “Keep digging though, Uncle Guy. You’ll hit rock bottom soon enough.”
“Does that mean you’re dating the big Bat?”
She almost cried from laughter as Hal choked on his beer and spluttered. “No. I’m not dating Mister Wayne. He’s old enough to be my dad.”
John chuckled. “I don’t know, (Y/N). When you first met Bruce at, what? Ten? You told him you were going to marry him.”
Her cheeks burned and she scowled at them. “I meant Batman because he was kind-hearted, and I was totally awestruck as a little girl. Let it go.” Her eyes fell on Hal. “Dad, tell ‘em to let it go.”
He nodded. “Please let it go.” Kyle started humming ‘Here Comes the Bride’ and while the others snickered, Hal screwed his eyes shut. “Oh God, stop. I don’t want to think about my precious baby anywhere near that anal retentive kitchen scale.”
The other snickered and before she could say anything, their rings started beeping. She looked at them as their faces turned solemn, setting their beers down as their suits flashed to life.
“Trouble on Oa,” John said.
“Gotta fly?” she asked, and Hal nodded, leaning over to kiss her temple.
“Gotta fly, Raptor.” He hugged her quickly and followed John and the others to the balcony. “I love you.”
“I love you too, dad.” (Y/N) waved. “Be careful, Corpsmen.” They all waved at her and took off, leaving her in the apartment alone and she sighed, turning back to the kitchen. “Another dinner…alone.” She couldn’t help but deflate. “Wonderful.”
***
She continued cooking for almost an hour when the balcony doors opened and closed, and she smiled. “Hey guys. You’re back rather early.” When she didn’t hear a response, she immediately fell on guard and she took one of the kitchen knives from its holder, brandishing it.
Carefully, she walked into the dimly lit living room, eyes scanning the expanse for whoever was in the apartment with her. None of the floorboards were creaking, no rustling of fabric or scuffing of shoes. It was completely silent, and that made her nervous.
Stay calm. The worst thing you can do in a situation when you need to be calm is to be panicked. Slow breaths. Keep focused.
She repeated his words in her head and shifted around the hallway wall, eyes peeled for trouble.
Small steps when sweeping buildings. If an enemy rounds a corner and it comes to close combat, you’ll want to be able to hit them and taking big steps causes instability.
(Y/N) crept down the hall and came upon the bathroom just beside her father’s bedroom door. Quickly, she peeked in, seeing it empty, then cross the doorway, pausing beside her father’s door. She inhaled deeply, then turned her head around the corner, seeing it empty and dark. The only room left was hers.
She crossed to the other side of the wall and hurried down to her door, and with another sharp breath, she turned and looked in. Again, it was empty. Confusion bled through her as she returned to the living room, the hand holding the knife lowered beside her thigh.
“That’s strange.” She murmured. “I thought I—”
“Heard something?”
She gasped and spun around, bringing the knife up, but they caught it with ease, squeezing her wrist until she cried in pain and dropped it. (Y/N) heard the clattering in her ears as they grabbed her other hand and shoved her down into the couch.
She started thrashing wildly, about to scream when she heard, “I thought I told you not to turn your back on people.”
(Y/N) stilled and turned her head, catching that stupidly smart smirk. “You fucker.” She cursed at him, torn between laughing hysterically and cursing some more. “I can’t believe you turned this into a lesson.”
He shrugged. “Had to know if you were learning any better.” Smiling at her, he quipped, “Your sweeping is great. Detection skills? Not so much.”
“Let me up, Jason.” she commanded, rolling her eyes and he snorted, letting go of her arms. Immediately, she spun and cocked her elbow into his jaw, smiling as he grunted in pain and grabbed it.
“Damn,” he hissed. “You’ve got elbowing down to an art.”
She grinned. “I’ve had a good teacher.”
They stared on another down for a moment, then all at once, they were yanking at shirts and unbuckling belts, grabbing each other, and tugging closer to one another as their lips met in a searing kiss.
(Y/N) shoved at the jacket on his shoulders, moving her lips to his jaw and he groaned, taking his hands from her hips for just a moment to pull the article off. He shifted out of reach, and she glanced towards the kitchen.
“I turned the oven off,” Jason muttered, yanking his crimson shirt over his head. “Figured we’d be too busy to eat dinner.”
She giggled and shoved him off the couch, watching as he scrambled to his feet; she stood and started pulling off her own clothes, first her shirt, then her bra and Jason almost collapsed at her feet when she tugged her pants to her ankles.
“C’mon, Jay, don’t be shy.” (Y/N) cooed. “Show me what you’ve got.”
He chuckled, and unbuckled his belt, letting it fall to the floor as he back-stepped down the hallway. “Oh, you want a show, Miss Jordan?”
She smirked at him and stuck her thumbs in the sides of her thong. “I’d love a show, Mister Todd.”
“I might made you beg a little for it,” he shot back coolly, toeing off his combat boots and she hummed.
“I will if you will.” (Y/N) said, watching his hands unbutton the charcoal-colored utility pants he wore.
“My eyes are up here.” Jason quipped, though he didn’t seem to stop as he shoved his pants down, leaving him in his boxers, and he hit her doorway.
“True, but my attention is elsewhere.” She drew her eyes up his toned body, internally smirking as he seemed to shiver under her gaze, and she pushed her thong down her legs. (Y/N) stood before him and reached out, placing her hands flat on his chest. He was so hot underneath her palms and she slowly rubbed her hands up to the sides of his neck.
“(Y/N),” he murmured huskily, arms winding around her waist, and she smirked.
“Take me to bed, Jason.”
Immediately, he bent down and grabbed the back of her thighs, digging his fingers in until she lifted and wrapped her arms around his waist. “With pleasure,” he purred.
***
By the time Hal and the other lanterns got back to the apartment, it was well into the morning, and he could tell that everyone just wanted to crash in exhaustion, too tired to even think about flying to their own homes.
He opened the balcony doors and let them inside. “Lemme get some blankets from the hall closet,” he muttered, voice as ragged as his body felt.
“Who the hell played strip poker in here?”
Hal looked up at Guy who was holding up a crimson t-shirt with a baffled expression. “What?”
Guy met his gaze then nodded down the hall. “Someone’s been tangoing.”
When he craned his neck to peek down the hallway, sure enough there was a trail of clothing leading down to her room. His eyes went wide, and he suddenly forgot about his exhaustion as he leaped over the couch and sprinted down the hall, the other Lanterns hot on his heels.
Hal skidded to a stop in her doorway and immediately screeched, “(Y/N) JORDAN WHO THE HELL IS IN YOUR BED?!”
The two young adults in the bed startled up, and she held the sheet to her chest as she gaped at her father. “Dad! You—you’re here!”
He gestured wildly. “OF COURSE, I’M HERE! I FUCKING LIVE HERE! WHO THE FUCK IS IN YOUR BED?!”
“Morning, Hal,” Jason greeted, with a mock salute. “How’s your day so far?”
“MY DAY?!” he bellowed, already starting for the young man, and John was quick to grab Hal around the waist. “LET GO! I’M GOING TO MURDER THIS SON OF A BAT FOR CORRUPTING MY DAUGHTER!”
“Excuse me,” Jason said, rather affronted, then pointed at her. “It’s (Y/N) who’s corrupted me.”
(Y/N) barely had time to hide her snort as she elbowed him in the side. “Shut the hell up.” She cleared her throat and looked at the men in her doorway. “Uh…can you close the door so I can get dressed?”
“CLOSE THE DOOR?! I’M GOING TO TAKE THE DOOR OFF ITS HINGES! YOU ARE GROUNDED, (Y/N) JORDAN DO YOU HEAR ME! YOU ARE—”
Guy and John dragged Hal off and Kyle shut the door but threw a thumbs up at Jason before he left.
***Part Two***
She tried to look anywhere but her father’s face as he continued to berate her and Jason. And honestly, he’d stopped making sense about thirty minutes ago and while she couldn’t look at her uncles for fear of bursting into laughter, Jason had no problems cracking a smirk at everything Hal was yelling about.
“—AND I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU HAD A BOY IN THE HOUSE!” he paused, horror drawing across his face, then it immediately turned into anger. “THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME HE’S COME OVER IS IT?! HOW LONG HAS THIS BEEN GOING ON?!”
Her face pinched and she inquired, “Which question do you want answered first? The one you asked when you first started yelling or the last one just now?”
“I am in no mood for games, (Y/N) Jordan. You brought a boy into the house without permission.”
“I am a man.” Jason interrupted.
She elbowed him in the ribs. “I didn’t realize I needed permission to bring my boyfriend into the house.”
“BOYFRIEND?!” Hal screeched.
(Y/N) blinked. “I’m confused. Are you angry at me calling him my boyfriend? Do you want me to call him my fuckbuddy or something?”
“HEY!” both Jason and Hal in unison and her father glared at him. “SHUT UP!”
“I don’t know what you want me to tell you, dad…I’m twenty-one. Having a boyfriend is a completely normal thing. Having a consensual sexual relationship with someone is a normal thing.”
Hal spluttered for a moment then pointed at Jason. “NOT WITH HIM!”
“What’s wrong with me?” Jason question, rather offendedly, then he held up a hand. “I mean, besides the obvious things that are wrong with me.”
“YOU’RE YOU! THE SON OF BATMAN!”
“I mean…” Jason drawled. “That’s technically debatable most days.”
(Y/N) looked at him. “You’re not exactly helping the case, Jay.”
“I’m not trying to.” He grinned at her. “I’m seeing if I can make your dad go red.”
She tutted at him. “Jason Todd trying to corrupt a Green Lantern into a Red Lantern. Shame.”
“QUIT DOING THAT!” Hal howled as they started snickering, seeming to get lost in their own little world. Suddenly, he was marching down the hallway and coming back with a cellphone.
They watched in confusion for a moment, then Jason’s eyes widened. “Oh no.”
“What?” (Y/N) worried.
“He’s calling B.”
“What.”
Hal put the phone to his ear and glowered at the two of them until the line clicked and he immediately yelled, “DO YOU KNOW YOUR DELINQUENT SON IS DATING MY DAUGHTER?...WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALREADY KNOW?!...EXCUSE ME?! WHAT?!”
He hung up the phone and set it on the table, then proceeded to turn around and grab a pillow from the couch, bringing it to his face. Hal bellowed into the pillow and Jason nudged her. “How long is he gonna be like this?”
(Y/N) shrugged. “Probably another minute or two. He’ll start up again in about an hour though.”
Jason hummed and stood from the table. “Well, I’d love to stay and get yelled at some more but if I’m being honest, I only need one father yelling at me and not two.”
“Where are you going?” she questioned.
“Roy and I have a mission in Costa Rica tomorrow evening.” He bent down and kissed her lips. “I’ll call you when I land.”
(Y/N) smiled and before he pulled away, she grabbed his shirt and pulled him in for another searing kiss, one that erupted wolf-whistles from the other Lanterns around them—which also had Hal pulling his head up at the sound, immediately shouting again.
“Love you,” she murmured, and he winked.
“Love you more, doll.” He tossed a mock salute to Hal and the others before leaving and she sat back in her seat, readying herself for another round of bellowing.
***
Surprisingly, Hal had relaxed after a few hours. That being said, (Y/N) really had to work on him to do so but being an only child and her dad’s pride and joy played a big part—she knew the man could never stay mad at her. Of course, he’d immediately put rules into place over the whole relationship thing. No boys in the house without permission, no closing the door when a boy was over, no more Bat-sons in the Jordan apartment…he was overreacting, but it wasn’t anything new in (Y/N)’s opinion.
But he did ease up after a few months, mainly because as anti-social as Jason was most days, he was damn good at working people over when he wanted to. And in her boyfriend’s opinion, the easiest way to work her dad over was to tell him all the ways to screw with Bruce—which Hal took in like a sponge with water. As annoying as it was to see the two men so giddy over a plan, she was glad they were just getting along.
However, when Hal learned that (Y/N) was being trained by Jason, and on the rare occasions, Bruce, his meltdown the first night seemed like a walk in the park compared to the storm blowing in.
***
So…what are you wearing?
She snorted, crossing at the formula of the equation, rewriting a new one beside it. “Jason, I’m not having phone-sex with you.”
Hmm…I bet you’re wearing red panties.
“Cold.” (Y/N) retorted with a grin. “They’re blue actually. You know, like Nightwing’s suit?”
Why do you hate me?
“I haven’t the faintest clue what you mean, Jay.”
You’re evil, you know that? Like you portray innocence but in reality, you’re evil.
She snorted again when a tapping came at her bedroom window and she frowned, leaning over; Jason saw it from the camera.
Everything alright?
(Y/N)’s eyes drifted to his face then to the window and she stood. “Yeah, someone’s at the window.”
(Y/N). He warned and she leaned over, seeing Kyle floating there.
“It’s Kyle.”
What’s Kyle doing there? I thought he was on Oa.
She nodded, brows furrowing as she murmured, “I did too.” Opening the window, she greeted, “Hey, what’s up?”
Kyle seemed nervous. No, he seemed concerned. “I need you to come with me.”
“Is my dad okay?” she asked outright, and he nodded.
“Yeah, Hal’s good…but he needs to talk to you.” Kyle waved a hand over her phone, and it shut off. “It’s important.”
(Y/N) felt her heart thump in her chest at how serious her friend was, and she nodded. “Alright. Let’s go.”
***
She’d only ever been to the Watchtower once. And the only thing she remembered from the trip was getting lost in one of the hallways only to be found by Batman who merely picked her sobbing frame up and hummed to her until she fell asleep.
So really, it was like a first time visit all over again, and when she came face to face with not only the Justice League, well Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman, and her uncles, she wasn’t exactly excited. It felt like she’d been called to the principal’s office for expulsion.
Hal pointed to a seat, which she took, not wanting to open her mouth when she had no idea what was going on.
Wonder Woman, surprisingly, was the first to speak. “What is your daughter doing here, Hal?”
Her father merely looked at (Y/N) then to Bruce, questioning, “How long?” They stared one another down and she felt as lost as last year’s Easter eggs. “How long, Bruce?” Hal asked again.
Batman didn’t even blink. “A full year. When she started working at the branch in Coast City, I had Jason start it.”
“Motherfucker.” Hal cursed, chuckling humorlessly. “I do all I can to keep her out of this bullshit and you drag her into it.”
“(Y/N) wanted to train. She emailed me through a private channel about it.”
All eyes turned onto her and then she knew what was happening. “He’s…right, dad. I wanted to be trained to fight.”
Hal gaped at her. “Why? You’re going to school? You’re working? Why do you want to train?”
(Y/N) swallowed thickly. “To be like you guys. You know, useful?” she stood from the table. “Look, I know you’re worried, but even Batman’s noted major improvements. He says I’m almost ready to start patrolling on my own.” She looked to him for help.
“She’s smart, Hal. And I’m not saying that to float the Jordan ego. Jason’s not one to give commendation where it shouldn’t be.” Batman nodded at her. “(Y/N)’s not my kids, but she’s right behind them on how good she is.”
Hal’s brown eyes turned onto him in a fierce glare. “Yeah, well, unlike you, I don’t make a habit out of putting my kid in danger. I know you have a thing for going through sons.”
“HEY!” (Y/N) shouted, getting his attention as she stood to her feet. “I’m old enough to make this decision for myself and if Batman says I’m good enough to do this, I’m gonna do it.”
“Nope. Not happening.” Hal rejected. “End of discussion.”
“No.”
His eyes went wide first with shock, then with the audacity of her language. “Excuse me?”
(Y/N) momentarily wanted to cave, but she held strong and tightened her jaw. “I said no.” she declared. “I’m gonna do this.”
Hal rounded the table, stomping up to her. “No, you’re not.”
“What’re you gonna do, dad? Lock me in the house for the rest of my life?” she suggested. “I have rights you know.”
“Not to do shit like this. I don’t want you being a hero.”
(Y/N) gazed at him, and suddenly, everyone felt the mood shift as she murmured, “It’s because I’m not a Lantern, isn’t it, dad?”
Hal’s jaw went slack. “What? What are you talking about?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about.” She shot back coolly, then tipped her head to the other league members. “See, they get to brag about their kids. Superboy, the Robins, the Wonder-Girls...everyone on this team has a trainee but you.” (Y/N)’s eyes narrowed. “And you hate that I’m not like you, don’t you? That I can’t seem to figure out what it takes to wear that ring.”
She glanced at her uncles who were gaping at her. “See, you look at them like they’re the greatest people in the universe. And then when you look at me? It’s easy to see the devotion shift. Deep down it makes you disappointed that I’m not a Green Lantern.”
“You are absolutely out of line.” He growled.
“Am I, dad?” (Y/N) challenged. “Everyone here gets to brag about their superhero trainees but when it comes you, what can you say? ‘My daughter isn’t a Green Lantern like me, sorry!’?” she looked at him. “I’m not a Green Lantern, but I am something else. I can be something else. Let me prove it to you.”
Hal gazed at her for along moment. “…No.”
(Y/N) snapped. “Why the fuck not! What is it about me that just makes you so antagonistic at the idea of me being something like you!”
“Watch your language, young lady. I’m still your father.” He demanded.
“Oh please, as far as I’m concerned, you were just a failed pilot on leave who fucked my mom and got her pregnant.”
It happened before anyone realized it. The sharpest crack any of them had ever heard in their lives and (Y/N) turned her face back to him, a hand coming up to press against her stinging cheek. And Hal? Hal was staring at his hand as if it didn’t belong to him.
She wasn’t mad. Shocked, sure, but not mad. If anything, it’d proved her point and she merely regarded him with an assured gaze. “Bogey down, huh dad?” she remarked, and his eyes shot to hers.
Hal’s mouth opened but nothing would come out except, “I didn’t mean to do that.”
“Yeah, you did,” she whispered, taking a step back from him when he reached for her.
His face crumpled and he brokenly called, “(Y/N), wait!”
But she was already running for the door, Batman on her heels.
***
“Do you want me to call Jason?” he asked quietly, watching her open the balcony doors.
Her hands stilled for a moment, then she resumed twisting the key. “No…and don’t tell him this happened either.”
“Why not?”
(Y/N) looked back at him. “Because you and I both know that Jason would beat my dad senseless.”
“…Do you want to come back to Gotham for a while?”
She opened the doors and sighed. “I don’t know, Batman.” Glancing back, she added, “I don’t really know what I want right now.”
“Do you want to be away from Hal?” he questioned seriously, and she looked at her feet.
“I know what you’re thinking. But he’s not abusive.”
“All evidence to the contrary.”
(Y/N)’s head snapped up. “My dad’s never laid his hands on me before now.”
“He ever physically discipline you?”
“Swatting your eight-year-old kid’s butt in the middle of a store when they’re having a meltdown over not buying an expensive toy is a lot different from beating them bloody and bruised with a beer bottle or a belt.’ (Y/N)’s eyes darkened, but not at her father’s face in her head, but at Batman. “My dad’s a lot of things. A jackass, a skirt chaser, a self-righteous arrogant prick…but he is not an abuser.”
Batman placed a hand on her shoulder. “He hit you.”
“Yeah? And? I insulted him and my mom straight to his face. Sure, slapping me wasn’t the answer, but I understand the reaction. Does is make is right? No. But neither is what I said. We both fucked up.” She shrugged his hand off. “We’ll talk about it and move on.”
“Because it’s what Jordan’s do?”
(Y/N) huffed a laugh but it was anything but mirthful. “Yeah. It’s what Jordan’s do.” She stepped inside and looked back at him. “Thanks for bringing me home, Batman. I appreciate it.”
He nodded, pulling out his grapple. “Call me if you need anything.” Batman gazed at her. “And think about calling Jason.”
“…I will.”
Batman gazed at her a moment longer then fired the grapple, taking off into the night sky towards the Batplane, then she was watching as it disappeared faster than it came.
With a heavy sigh, she turned and put her hands on the back of the loveseat, shutting her eyes as she thought about the events of the night. She wasn’t sure what she was supposed to feel. Angry? Hurt? Responsible? It had to be all the above, especially when she pictured his face in her head after it happened. Shocked, ashamed, horrified, like he couldn’t believe what he’d just done.
(Y/N) didn’t want to think about it, and when she heard a ring flashing in her ears, she turned. “Guys, I don’t wanna talk about—” she fell into a deep silence when she saw the man before her, the yellow suit glowing vividly against the dark sky.
“Hello (Y/N) Jordan. I am Sinestro.”
***Part Three***
Hal had taken her flying more times than she could’ve counted—perks of being a pilots daughter, and while she had faith in aircraft and Green Lantern constructs, she wasn’t sure how to feel about Yellow Lanterns and their tendency to drop people.
Coast City looked so small below her, and she swallowed thickly, trying greatly to keep her fear under control, keeping her eyes on the moon. She knew if Sinestro dropped her at this height, she’d die. There were no chances of survival at all—she’d hit the ground and pancake with the best of ‘em.
“I am rather surprised that you accepted my invitation so easily,” he remarked, not looking at her as they rose through the night sky.
“Yeah, well…I’ve heard enough stories about you to know that you’ll kill me if you want to.” Her eyes followed his frame. “I’d like to extend my life as long as possible.”
“A wise decision, (Y/N).” He noted rather humorously, finally taking the time to look back at her. “I’ve watched you for some time now.”
Ignoring the implications and total creepiness of the statement, she instead asked, “How long?”
“Long enough to see the potential you have in greater things.” Sinestro replied and reached a hand out, a horde of golden glowing constructs appearing before her eyes. Her training with Batman, with Jason, even with Hal and the others—most importantly, the fight just before. “It hurts that he doesn’t trust you to be like him, doesn’t it?”
She didn’t respond, merely watching the moment of his hand coming back across her face over and over again as the feelings welled in her chest.
“You try so hard to be of use to Hal. To be a Green Lantern like him, but nothing you do makes him proud.” He gazed at her with something akin to pity, but it felt like a manipulation. “I understand your fear of failure…of shame.” Holding out his hand, he made her own raise beside her body and a yellow ring floated from his palm. “I can feel the anger inside you. Your fear fights to quell it.” Sinestro smiled. “I almost want to call Atrocitus and have him recruit you into the Red Corps.”
(Y/N)’s eyes fell to the ring, and she clenched her hand into a fist to keep it from sliding onto her finger. “I—I can’t be a Yellow Lantern.”
“Why not?”
“Why n—because you’re the enemy of the Green Lanterns!” she shouted. “I’d be betraying my father and my friends and my family!”
He gave her a knowing look. “The same family that looked upon you with shame every time you tried to wield the green power ring, but couldn’t?”
She felt like she’d been shot, and her jaw dropped. “I…”
Sinestro nodded. “I understand. But you don’t, (Y/N). Willpower must be had since birth. Fear however—” he reached out, uncurling her fingers. “Can be taught. And you have potential to be trained with terror.” He met her gaze. “You can’t be a Green Lantern like Hal wants…but you can become something he has to recognize. Something powerful. Something fearsome.”
(Y/N) stared at him, and this time, she didn’t fight as the ring slipped onto her finger. (Y/N) Jordan of Earth. You possess the ability to instill great fear. Welcome to the Sinestro Corps.
The world started swirling around her, golden flashes of light bound her body and she screamed in terror as her nightmares came alive before her. The chains coiled, almost like snakes creeping up her body, tighter and tighter around her throat and up around her skull. The last thing she saw through her fearful gaze was Sinestro laughing darkly and the world before her went dark and she was subjected to her minds torment, brought upon by the forged ring.
For a moment, the world was calm, then the chains fell away, and (Y/N) stood before Sinestro, clothed in an exo-suit, similar to her father’s, but instead of the bright, awe-inspiring green, it was a golden, fear-inducing yellow.
And when she opened her eyes, they narrowed onto Sinestro, and all she said was, “I’m ready to receive my orders.”

So, I have this idea for a Batfam time travel fanfic that starts when Jason, Tim and Damian are somehow teamed up for a mission (the disaster is practically inevitable from the beginning, but everyone else was either busy or injured, so Bruce had to begrudgingly send them out together) and just as you would expect, something goes terribly wrong.
Later Jason will say it was Tim’s fault because his cape got in the way and tripped Jason up, Tim will say Damian pushed him into Jason’s path so it was really Damian’s fault, and Damian will say that it was a reflection from Jason’s dumb helmet that blinded him and made him stumble into Tim, but regardless of what really happened, they somehow land right in the path of the strange ray gun their villain-of-the-week is wielding and are all hit by something that looks and sounds and feels like a bolt of lightning.
When they wake up, miraculously still alive and only a little bit sore, the warehouse around them is empty, their comms are dead, and once they make their way outside they quickly realize they’re in a Gotham years before their time.
Now, there are of course some very strict rules regarding time-travel and interacting with people they know in the past, but as their luck would have it, their entrance wasn’t exactly subtle (even in Gotham people notice lightning and thunder whithout a thunderstorm), and before they can even make it a block away from the warehouse Batman and Robin swing down from the rooftops and confront them.
Batman of course does his whole “Who are you and what do you want in my city” thing, complete with the growly voice and intimidating loom, but it’s not like that can faze any of his kids after all this time.
No, what gets to them, particularly Tim and Damian, is the teeny version of Dick standing next to Bruce. He can’t be any older than 11 or 12, and while Tim and Damian had both seen pictures and heard the stories, seeing their older brother standing as tall as he can (which isn’t all that tall even compared to them) in his bright yellow cape and the short pants next to Batman...well, can anyone really blame them for bursting out laughing?
That’s of course not the reaction Batman and Robin expect, and for a few seconds they just seem to freeze up in the face of these new costumed...cosplayers?? criminals?? vigilantes?? who are just laughing their asses off when faced with the dynamic duo.
Jason is the only one who doesn’t fall into hysterics (he can’t start laughing; he wore the short pants too and would only open himself up to even more ridicule in the future than he would already undoubtedly get from the two little twerps), and he’s also not stunned with surprise, because he knows exactly what’s going on here.
So, as the only capable person around (what else is new) he barks at Tim and Damian to cut it out and behave professionally. They’re on a mission after all, and they don’t want to antagonize Batman and Robin, do they?
Surprisingly they listen, Tim even mumbles somewhat of an apology at Robin, who still looks kind of sulky, but accepts it after a nudge from Batman.
Then there’s an awkward silence where both sides just look each other over, though it’s not as hostile as it was before, and with some quick mental math on how much he can tell Bruce Jason starts to explain that they’re also a vigilante team like them and don’t want any trouble, they had only made their way into Gotham because they’d tracked a lead.
Jason keeps everything deliberately vague and doesn’t mention the time-travel (he’s not even sure if Bruce and Dick had encountered something like it at this point and he absolutely doesn’t want to get thrown into Arkham because they think he’s delusional), but apparently his answers satisfy Bruce, because he loosens his stance and nods in approval.
Bruce asks if they need any help, what kind of case they’re working on, what their code-names are - they all have to come up with something fast here, because obviously Red Hood, Red Robin and Robin are precisely the worst names they could give Bruce and Dick in this time, so Jason calls himself Arsenal, Tim says Drake (still the worst name Jason has ever heard) and Damian says Flamebird, which is pretty cute Jason has to admit, though he will still definetly tease his brother about his choice once they’re back home.
It’s only when Bruce asks “And how long are you and your sons planning to stay in the city?” that Jason realizes Bruce thinks they’re a father/son(s) crime-fighting team the same as him and Dick and before he can think better of it he says “Not long.” in answer and leaves the other part of the question uncorrected, even though he can practically feel two pairs of eyes burning into his back with indignation.
The conversation moves on and somehow there never seems to be a good opportunity to rectify that, and so they eventually part ways with Bruce and Dick, planning to meet again the next night to exchange information.
Jason, the chaotic older brother that he is, can’t resist a “Come along now, sons” just as they leave - Tim and Damian are pissed, Jason isn’t their dad, he can’t tell them what to do, and once they’re out of Batman and Robin’s earshot they make their opinion on that very clear, but it’s too late now - for as long as they’re in this time they’ll have to pretend in front of Bruce and Dick.
As it turns out getting back home takes a little longer than Jason, Tim and Damian had initially hoped for, so they spend at least a week or two in this time, during which they meet Dick and Bruce pretty much every night and even begin to help out a little when something more dangerous goes down (though compared to what they’re used to, this version of Gotham is pretty tame).
Because Jason can’t resist annoying his brothers he fully lays into the dad role, calling them “son” or “sport” whenever he can and delighting in the furious glares he receives in return.
At some point it also becomes clear how much more experience the three of them have compared to Bruce and Dick, who have only been vigilantes for a couple of years at this point, and when this young Bruce openly asks Jason for advice on how to be a good vigilante dad because Jason obviously seems to have more experience than him, Jason doesn’t know if he should laugh or cry.
This young Bruce is still Bruce Wayne with all his faults of course, but he’s also a lot less jaded and world-weary and sad, so Jason gladly gives him some advice that he hopes makes some things better without breaking the entire time-line.
Meanwhile Tim and Damian learn first hand what a menace young Dick Grayson was - he disobeys orders, pulls dangerous stunts, fights in freaking short pants, but gets away with everything because of his puppy-dog-eyes and because Bruce was even more of a pushover back then than he is in their time.
Obviously Bruce and Dick never learn the true identities of their visitors or their connections to them in this time - one day the three of them just don’t show up anymore and when they investigate they find a post-it note in the warehouse where they’d first met them that just says “Gone home. See you some time in the future.” with the three names Arsenal, Drake and Flamebird signed underneath.
“It was pretty fun having other kids to talk to about all of this,” Dick says, sounding subdued as he looks at the note and Bruce knows he will probably regret this, but he just can’t stand to see his son sad.
“I heard Green Arrow has a side-kick now,” Bruce says, trying to sound casual, but the way Dick looks at him with tentative hope just makes his heart melt instantly. He would give this kid the world if he asked for it. “Maybe it would be a good idea to meet them.”

Okay, long time followers will probably remember having read this, but I can’t find the original post and I’m trying to like.....force-reboot/jumpstart me working on my ‘Kings of the Sky’ AU again because I haven’t touched it in awhile and I have like literally eight different installments in various stages of completion and that’s ridiculous even for me. So here’s a repost of the first part of “Teachable Moments” the canon-divergence point of that AU series, where Jason calls Dick for advice after the Garzonas case and everything changes from there.
******
The way Jason Todd warily eyed the device in his hand, one might think it was an instrument of great and terrible destructive power, rather than just…his own personal cell-phone.
To be fair, he was Robin, and pretty used to the idea that even the most unlikely of things could be used for evil in Gotham. It could’ve been stolen and replaced at some point by a henchperson of Mr. Freeze, and using it could unleash some kind of cryogenic freeze ray that would turn him into a Robinsicle. Mad Hatter could be up to shit again, and dialing the phone at this very minute might mean syncing it up with a remote radio signal that would override his natural brainwaves and turn him into Tetch’s mindless minion of like…doom and stuff. Or…or…
Or sometimes, even in Gotham a phone is just a phone, and Freud is still a dumbass. And neither of the above possibilities had anything to do with why Jason was being a giant freaking pansy about entering the last digit of the phone number he would never ever admit to having had memorized for months now.
Nightwing had said to call if he ever needed to talk. He wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t actually want Jason to call, right? Like, its not as if Jason had remotely been expecting him to do that, so its not the sort of thing someone did just because it was ‘expected’ or shit. He was pretty sure. Rich people manners were weird though. Had to factor that in.
But Nightwing had also even made a point to say not talking to people about stuff was Bruce’s problem and that Jason shouldn’t let it be his problem too, and even though months ago Jason had been a starry-eyed dumbass who was totally drunk on the Bruce is the Bestest Kool-Aid or whatever, ‘Wing had definitely known what he was talking about there. So maybe he’d get it, and having this conversation with him wouldn’t be. Like. The actual worst idea in the history of ever.
Deductive logic said that Jason was getting worked up over nothing and there was no rational reason for him to be this nervous about dialing a fucking phone number. And he’d gotten pretty good at the whole deduction shit, given all the work he and Bruce had put into training his mind to view the world through entirely new paradigms, so Jason was pretty sure his math on that checked out. But on the other hand, Bruce was a hypocritical asshat that Jason was currently not speaking to, so what the fuck did he know about anything?
Aaaaand he was back to square one. Well damn. This was excellent. Very productive. Good hustle out there, Jay.
Sighing gustily, Jason flopped back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling and trying to pretend he hadn’t gotten used to how luxurious and cushion-y his ridiculously expensive mattress was. He’d gotten soft, he told himself. Then he scoffed at the idea that the past year and a half of rigorous Robin training and patrols had made him less tough than the pipsqueak he’d been back when living on the street, getting his ass kicked by bigger and badder on the regular. That hadn’t been hardness, that had been bravado.
But it had gotten him this far in life, so maybe there was something to be said for it after all?
Ugh. Decisions were hard. He objected on principle. He also really wanted to understand why he was this nervous…if he could literally fill the guy’s shoes and kick supervillain ass as Robin, what freaking sense did it make that he couldn’t even call him up on the phone?
Maybe you just know better than to ask him questions you don’t really want to hear his answer to, a smug voice said in the back of his mind. It sounded suspiciously like Willis Todd, which was all kinds of weird and fucked up, cuz Jason was damn sure his abusive a-hole of a deadbeat dad had never said anything that insightful in his life.
Which meant it was his own screwed up subconscious - presenting in the voice of his not so dearly departed douchebag dad, no less - that had Jason reacting out of spite, entering the last number and hitting Talk, all while totally on autopilot. Because apparently we’re all making healthy life choices in this Chili’s tonight, Jason snickered somewhat hysterically while his phone rang once, twice, three times.
Ugh. Was he always this fucked up in the head and he just never noticed, or was it a side effect of running around rooftops in a cape. Inquiring minds wanted to know.
“Hello?” Someone said then, answering on the fourth ring. Jason sat bolt upright, his nervous humor vanishing as quickly and unexpectedly as it’d hijacked him in the first place. For all that he’d only actually interacted with the older man a few times, his voice was instantly recognizable. As was his slight confusion.
Right. Because why would Nightwing have the untraceable number of the latest burner phone Bruce had given Jason, when the ever paranoid Bat had him swapping out phones every freaking week? Duh, Jay.
“Uh, its me,” Jason said hastily, as if he could somehow catch up to and overtake the epically long ten second silence he let lapse before his mouth started making words again. “Jason?”
“Jaybird! Hey! What’s going on?” The older vigilante’s tone instantly morphed into one of surprised delight, so apparent even across the phone that Jason actually pulled it away from his ear and stared at it, as if that could explain Nightwing’s inexplicable giddiness. He’d literally only met the dude three times. Give or take a concussion he was forgetting about maybe? Weird.
Then again, the older man was a circus performer from birth. Might just be good at faking being super excited to hear from people? Whatever. Still weird.
“Uh, you said to call if I was ever having, I dunno, issues with Bruce I guess? So I kinda had a question? I mean, if you’re not busy or anything.”
Just one question? Willis’ voice asked snidely, echoing in time with the rapid tripartite beat of Jason’s heart. Since apparently everything Jason said was trying to come out with a question mark attached to the end of it at the moment. Ugh, fuck you, subconscious, Jason thought forcefully, even as he ransacked the recesses of his mind for that bravado he was thinking about earlier. It had to be in here somewhere…
“No worries dude, I’ve got time. Hit me!” Nightwing said cheerfully. His lighthearted cadences were so at odds with the sweat suddenly breaking out on Jason’s forehead, the younger teen couldn’t help but wince in anticipation of its inevitable change once he got his actual question out. This was a bad idea, he decided, way too fucking late for it to make a difference. He had a hunch Nightwing wouldn’t be content to ‘just forget it’ or whatever even if Jason chickened out now.
So he took a deep breath, shrugged and did what Jason Todd did best. Said fuck it, put pedal to the metal, and drove at full speed for the metaphorical police barricade that was his way of picturing all the things telling him He Should Definitely Just Not.
“Do you think I’m someone who could kill somebody in like, cold blood?”
Aaaaand there went the lightheartedness. Well, he’d definitely stone cold killed that, Jason thought grimly into the silence that followed.
“Huh,” Nightwing said at last. “You’re gonna have to give me a second to switch gears here, Jay. I was kinda expecting something along the lines of ‘how do I avoid Bruce giving me the safe sex talk.’”
Jason flushed and nodded jerkily, not that the older man could see it. Still, it’d been enough of a workout just getting to this point. He didn’t trust what might come out of his mouth next if he kept trying to force it. Thankfully Nightwing didn’t make him wait too long before continuing.
“I think anyone’s capable of killing somebody in the right circumstances,” Jason’s predecessor began carefully. Except that was not remotely what he wanted to hear. Or helpful.
“I’m not looking for platitudes,” Jason grit out, not angry at the other vigilante so much as the whole fucked up mess and his inability to think about anything else at this point. “It’s just a simple fucking question. You’ve met me, do you think like, I’d be capable of just killing somebody or not.”
“I’m not offering platitudes,” Nightwing continued calmly, as if he wasn’t phased by the younger boy’s interruption or sudden aggression at all. “And its not a simple question at all. Speaking from experience, most people wouldn’t think of an eight year old as a cold-blooded killer, but that’s what I could have been if Bruce hadn’t stopped me from killing my parents’ murderer when I first tracked him down. And yet that’s still totally different from when I held a gun on Two-Face barely a couple years later, about to shoot him because somebody else told me to, and because I wanted to hurt him like he’d hurt me. Wouldn’t you agree those are two different situations and two different ‘kinds’ of cold-blooded killer? Context is kinda a big deal here.”
Huh. First off…what the fuck? Jason stared blankly up at the ceiling, trying to hurry up the processing functions of his brain because, again, what the fuck? He was like ninety nine percent positive none of that had been in the Dick Grayson Is The Greatest and Here Are All The Reasons Why brochure he’d had read to him every time someone new found out he was Wayne’s newest stray, and like. Uh. Yeah, that part would have definitely stood out. Because once more, with feeling:
“What the fuck?”
Oops. That hadn’t been supposed to be out loud. Bad mouth. Bad.
Nightwing just did a weird kinda half laugh half sigh combo. Rueful, Jason would describe it, if he were describing it to someone else, which it kind of felt like he was, relaying the conversation to himself now that it’d taken a hard right turn into the surreal.
“Blindsided you with that, huh? Sorry, should’ve figured neither of those are the kinda stories Bruce would want to share with you. Then again, I don’t really have any idea what Bruce has told you about me.”
“Not much,” Jason admitted. Which was a major source of irritation, if he was being honest. The much sung praises of Dick Grayson came from literally everyone he met except for Bruce. Who usually just got a pinched expression whenever Jason brought him up, and a rapid subject change that was not nearly as subtle as Bruce seemed to think it was.
“Yeah, that sounds about right,” Nightwing sighed. “I hope you haven’t put too much stock in anything else you’ve heard about me then. I’ll admit to a bad habit of enjoying my mystique, so secondhand hearsay tends to lose my best nuances.”
Despite himself, Jason’s lips curved up and he let out a rueful huff of his own. “I mean, this definitely isn’t where I saw this conversation going.”
The older man chuckled. “Thought I was going to just assume the worst and chuck the book at you?”
“Well. Yeah.” Jason shrugged, even though he knew it wouldn’t come across. “Bruce did.”
Nightwing heaved an exasperated breath. “Yeah, that’s kinda the thing about B. Sometimes, he’s great. Other times, he’s an ass. Its kinda an either or thing. He’s never really mastered the art of finding a midpoint between two extremes. Mostly because he’s never seen the point of aiming for middle ground.”
“Well its not like he’s ever really had to,” Jason griped. It just slipped out before he could stop it, leaving him feeling guilty for bad-mouthing B when he wasn’t around to defend himself. Especially since he knew Nightwing wasn’t the guy’s biggest fan these days. But he couldn’t deny it also felt good, in a way.
To his surprise, Nightwing just laughed. And not even in a malicious, spiteful kind of way, but almost relieved.
“God, thank you. You’d think that ‘hey, so my billionaire guardian kinda has entitlement issues’ would be a water is wet kind of revelation, but try saying something like that to pretty much anyone else…”
“And they look at you like you’re an ungrateful asshole?” Jason finished for him. Not that he’d ever actually tried saying that to anyone before, though he’d definitely thought it a time or two. But he could all too easily imagine the reactions he’d get, which was pretty much why he’d never gone so far as to speak the words.
“Yup,” Nightwing drawled, dragging out the p and popping it with emphasis. “And its not about being grateful or not, its just…there are some parts of everyone that just aren’t up for grabs, for other people to weigh in on or take charge of, you know? And a lot of people just don’t get that…because nobody’s ever tried it with them, or had to deal with expectations that…overstep, let’s call it?”
“Is that why you left?”
Jason winced the second it left his mouth. Too far. Definitely way too far, but he’d just gotten unexpectedly comfortable with the back and forth, and now he’d done the overstepping thing himself and was left with just dead air.
But ten seconds of heavy silence stretched into twenty, and went no further, as Nightwing sighed into his side of the phone again.
“The spiteful part of me wants to say it was more of a push than me just up and leaving,” he laughed again, but this time with unmistakable bitterness. “But even while that’s true, its not really the right answer to your question, because no matter how much of a clusterfuck that was at the time, its not…I mean, I knew at the time how to fix it. Where and how I needed to cave in order to make up with him and let things get back not quite to normal, but at least close enough.”
The pause wasn’t as heavy or tense this time, as Jason could almost sense the older man gathering his thoughts, trying to put them into words. He bit his lip rather than risk any more unexpected utterances escaping. This might not have been where he’d thought his phone call would lead, but now that he was here, hearing the answers to questions he’d wanted to ask for over a year and finding them almost comfortably familiar, he wasn’t going to risk distracting Nightwing or shutting him up for well. Anything.
“But it would have meant me caving. Settling in ways that I just…couldn’t. So in a way, yeah, I did leave, it was still my choice. And all of that was definitely a big part of it. I love Bruce, I do. I just couldn’t live with him anymore. Not without feeling like I had to give up my own autonomy and just be what he wanted. Or what he’d expected me to grow up to be, back when he first took me in. And as grateful as I am to him for that, I can’t honestly say I would have stuck around back then if I knew that was the price tag attached. I’m not…I don’t do well with people trying to force me to stick to one place, one thing. I was born on the road, you know? When I was a kid, I expected to spend the rest of my life living like that. Home was people. Not places. And so Gotham…its never fit me quite right, the way it does him, or even Barbara. Its not like I was miserable there, its just.”
“It wouldn’t have been your first choice,” Jason finished again, quietly. There was silence again for awhile.
“No. No, it wouldn’t have been. Not then.”

Can we please have April introducing their friend, the reader, to each of the brothers(separately). Like they were on a lead about mutagen being distributed to some shady people and they would’ve almost died if it weren’t for the turtles. When asked who were those guys, April sets them up to meet one of the brothers as to not overwhelm them. Besides a bit of hysterical laughing and self rambling “Giant ninja turtles. Okay sure!” They take it all like a champ. Sorry if this is too much. 😅
I think I understand this one and it’s not too much at all, just sorry if I misunderstood and get it wrong
Tumblr media
Leo
Obviously, April introduces you to Leo first
you had snuck into one of the shadiest places you think you’ve ever been in order to find out who was distributing this mysterious mutagen which had half of the city looking like animal farm and the other half scared out of their wits
but things took a turn when you asked too many questions
that was always your mistake, bad guys don’t ask questions.
But Leo was the one who helped you up from the floor when you hid behind the sofa
they’d blown the lights out before they came in so you didn’t really get a good look at them other that noticing they were big, big boys.
so before April introduces you she warms you that they’re not..of the human variety.
You didn’t understand until she opened the door and sat at the breakfast nook was a very large turtle man wearing a blue mask
“Holy fucking shit. dick, fucking fuckery” you say in a low, almost expressionless voice
you’d gone full circle from being so intensely surprised that your voice came out as bored
Leo looked up at you
“I’m sorry” you say “that was rude, what I meant was: holy fucking shit, dick, fucking fuckery” but this time you say it with feeling.
Leo gives a kind smile and a small chuckle. it wasn’t the worst reaction he’s had from a human before but it was one of the funniest.
that’s when the mumbling starts.
“I mean if you’d said giant turtles I would’ve- well, no, I wouldn’t have believed you but come on how is Kachhapa over there even real I mean seriously and is that? Ye-yep that’s a sword, he’s a giant turtle with a sword. Not sure if that’s cool or irresponsib-LOOK AT HIM!”
then you just start laughing, which gets a nervous laugh from everyone else in the room before a long silence
Leo finally talks
“...Well, I’m glad I could see you again in such different, less dangerous circumstances. I hope you’re staying out of trouble”
April decides you guys should leave it at that, if you’re gonna be weird then you should see Mikey next
Tumblr media
Mikey
Leaving Leo to go see MIkey you mumble “What does he mean ‘stay out of trouble’ he’s not my dad”
so April hurries you along faster
you stop her before she knocks on the door to Mikey’s room
“so there’s another one? Of them? Ok just let me gather myself”
you half attempt some prayer hands together yoga pose thing before April just knocks anyways
when you walk in, you don;t know what you were expecting but somehow are surprised all over again that another mutant is in front of you
but you keep it together this time
Mikey is so cheery and happy to have company that isn’t April or his brothers
he waltzes up to you and does a little half bow with a small “Hey there, lovely. How’re you?”
all you can do is turn to April and ask “The turtles flirt?”
she widens her eyes as if to say “Stop fucking acting this way”
you sigh, look back at Mikey and smile
“Hi! Thanks for saving my life before, really appreciate that and all, being alive is-is kind of my jam so .....”
he beams at you, now he remembers you
you exchange a few more sentences out of politeness before excusing yourself to use the bathroom
Inside the bathroom you give yourself a much needed pep talk in the mirror that starts with “you dumb bitch, act casual!”
when you hear a voice from outside the door say “Normally pep talks are supposed to be motivational, not self deprecating but go off, I guess”
Tumblr media
Donnie
That voice belongs to the one and only: Donnie
you open the door and immediately just say “holy shit, I’m so sorry you had to hear that”
he’s so nice about it, though
all smiles and “It’s ok, we’ve all been there. Who are you trying to act casual for? If I may ask”
You explain that this is kind of awkward, but being around mutants isn’t really something you grew up accustomed to so this is a whole new world for you “And I called your brother Kachhapa!” you blurt out
which makes him really laugh
“Don’t worry, I bet that reference was lost on him” he reassures
you compliment his glasses
because that’s what normal people do, right? Point out stuff they like about each other
this one has a more calming affect than Mikey did and you appreciate that so much, but he warns you about his final brother
says he’s a hot head and you should watch what you say a little
finally April finds you “So I see you’ve met Donnie now” then leans in closer to you “Hope you’ve got all of that out of your system before you meet Raph”
you reassure her that you’re a perfection functioning human being now and both Donnie and April walk you to the gym to see Raph
Tumblr media
Raph
you get to the gym and the biggest turtle of them all is bench pressing the biggest weights you’ve ever seen
you gulp
mental pep talk time since the purple one interrupted your last one
“ok, he’s big, he’s strong, he could rip you in two so easily. why does that sound kind of good right now, though? stay on track, brain! Ok, just tell him like a gym pun or something?”
“Hey!” you call over to him, Donnie and April widening their eyes at your boldness “you hear about that guy who asked the receptionist at the gym which machine he should use to impress women? She pointed to the ATM”
he cracked a smile!
you couldn’t believe it!
this big badass guy who you could see as you got closer was lifting 450lb cracked a smile at a dumb gym joke
you soon discovered he didn’t say much but at least this wasn’t anywhere close to the interaction of fire and death you had pictured when Donnie and April talked about how ... Difficult this brother is.
eventually Mikey and Leo come join you in the gym and now that you’ve become accustomed to these oversized turtle men, not being weird is getting easier, you even got invited round for dinner the next night to meet their dad
April leaned in and told you their dad is a giant rat and all you replied is “of course, why wouldn’t he be?”
in the end, They all commend you on taking this meeting like a trooper and not freaking out entirely
even though you feel as though you could have been a lot cooler than you were about it

Grades (Tony x daughter!reader)
Sorry if this is crappy, it’s 1am and I haven’t slept for three days straight so I’m really tired and my brain is functioning correctly 🙃 but enjoy @mettatonlover858
Tumblr media
Warnings: bit of angst? Fluff. Kinda dry friendship with peter? Idk why I wrote it like this but I did.
Your grades were slipping. It want your fault though. You were very smart. You were Tony Stark’s daughter so that wasn’t a doubt you were a genius. But it’s just that one kid in class that has to break someone down to feel better about themselves. At first you always brushed it off or ignored it, but as time went on, you found yourself being affected by it. Peter would defend you most of the time when he was there to hear it, but he wasn’t always around when it happened. And although you had inherited a lot from your father; his stubbornness, looks, and smarts, you didn’t inherit his self confidence or ability to spit out sarcastic remarks. You were a sensitive person. So it was hard for you to stand up for yourself.
“What am I gonna do?” You mumbled, rubbing your eyes with your palms. “My dad’s gonna get after me for letting my grades get this low.” Peter looked at you with sympathy.
“I wish u could tell you what to do. But I really don’t know. I’m really sorry y/n/n.” You sighed, nodding.
“It’s fine. I know I’m keeping you from your patrol. Go ahead. Be careful.” You watched as peter pulled over his back back and went for the door.
“Well, let me know it goes.” Peter said.
“Ok.” You watched peter leave and got your stuff and left his house to go home. Maybe you don’t have to tell him about it yet? Maybe you can wait a couple of weeks and get your grades back up again before he finds out? You sighed, agreeing with yourself that that was what you were going to do.
As you got home, your plan was ruined as you were met with your fathers eyes, laced with anger and disappointment. Your stomach dropped and you stood there.
Tumblr media
“Umm.” You gulped, waiting for anything to happen.
“Your teacher called.” That was all you had to hear before you turned your gaze to the floor, ashamed. He took a few steps towards you. “Your grades are so. Low. It’s. Insane.” He ground out. You sighed.
“I can explain that-“ you tried to say before he cut you off.
“No y/n zip it. This is unacceptable! You were put in this school to succeed and get good grades. What’s the point in going to a good school if you’re gonna get grades like you’re getting?!”
“I know, but-“
“And it’s not just that, you’ve been so out of it lately, first the sudden quietness out of you, next the locking yourself in your room constantly, shutting yourself off, and now these grades! What has gotten into you? I don’t understand-“
“That’s right you don’t understand!” Your snapped, tears stinging your eyes. “You don’t understand what it’s like to be picked on every single day and not being able to do anything for yourself because you’re too shy and sensitive to fight back because you’re you! You’ve never had a problem saying what you think or putting someone in their place. But I do! So I do understand why you don’t get why this is happening. And I don’t expect you to understand. I’m trying my best!” You sniffled, making a beeline to your room, shutting the door, leaving your dad standing there surprised.
Tony left you to your room to calm while he did the same. He spent time trying to connect the dots, everything that had been happening. He mentally facepalmed at the fact that he never thought to ask you if there was anything going on. He sighed deeply and made his way to your room. He knocked softly before trying to turn the doorknob, only to find it locked.
“Y/n? Can you let me in?” He asked softly, his heart cracking at the sound of your sniffling.
“You don’t need to give me another speech. I get it. I’ll get my grades up, I’ll figure something out.” You whined.
“I’m not here to do that y/n/n. Just let me in. Please?” You sighed before getting out of bed and unlocking the door. As soon as he stepped in, he pulled you into a hug.
“I’m so sorry y/n. I should’ve asked you long ago if something was wrong. I didn’t know you were being bullied.” You calmed down a bit now that he apologized, and you were able to catch your breath. “Why didn’t you tell me someone was bullying you hon’? You know you can tell me anything.”
“I know. I guess I just didn’t want to bother you with it. I though I should just deal with it on my own.” Tony pulled you away, holding onto your shoulders.
“Listen. I’m your father. I’m here to help with your problems. As long as I’m here, you should never have to deal with anything like this alone.” You smiled lightly and once again leaned in to give him a hug.
“Thank you daddy.” You sighed. Tony’s heart warmed at the name you used to call him when you were younger, making him think back to all the memories he had of you two.
Tony sighed and rubbed your back. “Don’t you wish we could go back to simpler times? It just seems as if the older we get, the bigger our problems become.” You nodded, a small smile gracing your lips.
“Yeah,” You chuckled. “Back to the times where the biggest problem I had was dropping my ice cream cone.” Tony laughed as he looked down at you, remembering the time you dropped your ice cream and refused to replace it.
You gasped, staring at the fallen scoop on the floor. Your favorite flavor at the time: strawberry.
“Uh oh. What happened?” Tony asked, trying not to laugh at your dramatically distraught face.
“My ice cream!” You whispered before breaking into tears.
“Awwww.” Tony cooed as he picked you up and held you close as you cried. “It’s okay, we can get you another one.” He said, rubbing your back as you shook your head furiously.
“No, it’s over! It’s over!” You cried, covering your eyes with both your little hands.
“It’s not over baby, you can get another strawberry ice cream!” He chuckled, laughing at your dramatic response to the minuscule problem that could be simply fixed.
“There’s no use!” You shook your head, refusing to take the second cone your dad was offering you. Your dad sighed and gave up, eating the ice cream himself. You looked at him, furrowing your eyebrows before snatching the cone out of his hands, quickly eating it. “Mine!”
“You were so cute. Still are.” Your dad laughed. You shook your head, blushing.
“No m’not.” You mumbled, your heart suddenly feeling heavy as you recalled ask the mean things your classmate told you.
“You’re so ugly it hurts!”
“Nobody careers about you. Even your own mother left you on your father’s doorstep, not giving a crap about you.”
“You’re useless.”
“Yeah you are. Doesn’t matter what those kids say to you.” Tony looked at your downhearted form.
“You don’t even know the things they say to me.” You whisper. Tony frowned and held your hands in his.
“What do they say sweetheart?” You didn’t want to say, knowing it would upset him, but knowing him, he wasn’t leaving until he knew everything.
“Just stuff like I’m useless and nobody loves me. Sometimes that I’m ugly or fat. And if they hear me laugh at something they’ll say my laugh is annoying or something. It’s not a big deal.” You shrugged. Tony’s eyes darkened at the comments you echoed.
“No big deal? The fact that it’s affecting you means it’s a really big deal. I’m so sorry they’re saying those things. They’re just jealous assholes who want to bring people down.” He pulled you into another hug, your back to his chest and resting his head on your shoulder. “You’re a beautiful girl y/n. Your body is perfectly fine and your not fat at all. And your laugh is not annoying sweetheart, I promise. I actually wish I could hear it more often. Ever since this bullying started, your laughter just became non existent over time.”
You nodded slightly, wanting to believe what his words but you weren’t quite there yet. These guys had really brought your self esteem low and you hated them for it.
“You wanna pull off a miracle and smile for me?” Tony teased, looking at you from your shoulder. You rolled your eyes, biting back a smile, avoiding his gaze. “Huh? Just a little smile?” When he was met with more silence, he twitched his finger into your side, smirking at your flinch. “I remember a little technique I used to use on you to get you gigglin’” He teased before full on scratching at your sides, trapping you in his grip.
You squeaked and arched your back, determined to get out of his iron grip (no pun indended) and biting your lip. “Dahad. Don’t.”
“Then just smile. It’s really not that hard.” He looked at you, not seeing what he wanted to see. “Not crackin huh? Well I remember the one thing that always made you crack.” He smirked before blowing a raspberry on your neck.
You squealed and smiled widely instantly, cursing at your dad’s evil method.
“There’s that award winning smile! Now let’s see if we can go a bit further and hear that precious laugh of yours.” He teased, picking you up and dropping you on your bed, straddling your thighs. He immediately went to work on your belly, your worst spot.
You screamed and let out loud belly laughter, kicking your legs out as much as you could with him sitting on them. “DAHAHAD NOHOHO! STOHOHOP!” You slapped at his hands,Tony only ignoring your protests and grabbing your arms in one hand to stop you.
“Listen to that beautiful laughter. Haven’t heard that in a while! I’ve missed it.” He sighed contently, speaking calmly unlike the hysterical giggles and screams coming from you.
“OHOHOKAY! I LAUGHED!” You shook your head and yelped when he targeted under your arms, scratching at the hollows.
“Well, yes, you laughed but you haven’t laughed in months. So you’re long overdue, missy.” He tease, shaking his fingers into your ribs, making you arch your back violently and and scream.
“NOHOHOHOHO DAHAHADDY PLEHEHEHEASE STOHOP!” The feeling was unbearable especially since you couldn’t use your arms to block his evil hands.
“Hang in there I’m almost done. This is the last thing I need to do, but this might tickle a lot. Just warning you.” He smirked before shaking his face into your belly, making sure his beard is doing its job.
You let you and inhuman scream as you shook your head side to side. You couldn’t stop laughing as he rubbed his face into your belly, mumbling and “I love you so much.” Making your laughter go up an octave, before blowing a big raspberry right above your belly button.
This made your laughter go silent after a desperate squeal, your body laying there exhausted, just being able to lay there and take it. Tony let you go with a chuckle and got of you, sitting next to you on the bed.
You panted loudly, holding onto your stomach trying to rub away the residual feeling tingling on your body. “That.. was cruel.” You panted.
“Oh, You’ll live.” Your dad brushed it off as he pulled you on his lap. “You’ll always be my baby, you know that right?” You nodded. “And you can come to me about anything. And I’ll do my best to help you with it. Tomorrow we’ll go speak to your teacher and see if she can give you anorher chance to improve your grades and see if she can do something about these kids making fun of you, Alright?”
You smiled, nodding. “Ok.”
For once in a really long time, things looked like they could finally get better.

Chapter 1
Chapter 2
——————————————-
“ I can’t believe you told him that Kia!” Asia yelled at her friend that was in her chair.
Kia just started to sobbed as Asia was pressing her hair out.
“ Now stop all that damn crying Kia. It is your fault also.” Asia said as tilted Kia head to the side.
“ I told you years ago that your daddy is not helping you love, but he is hurting you in the worst way possible.” Asia sighed as she turned the chair so Kia would be facing her.
Asia and Kia been best friends since childhood. Asia was different than Kia. Kia had a life full of wealth and a comfortable life. While Asia was raise in the deepest part of the projects. However, Asia was smart and was very passionate about school. That she got into the private school that usually only people with money, money get into.
Asia got a scholarship there due to her high I.Q. With there only being two black people, Kia and Asia, they naturally became best friends. However, of course, Ernest did not like her. Asia showed Kia the world from out of her bubble of wealth and good living. To showing her to have a backbone and standing up for herself.
Asia knew that Ernest was very controlling of his daughter and Kia listen.
“ Asia, I have to take care of him. That is what my mother said before she died! Before I watched her died Asia. She died!” Kia shouted while in hysterical tears looking at her friend.
The bloody sound of tears that was made of so much hurt went through Asia’s hair salon suite.
Asia looked at her friend and turn the chair back around. When Kia get like this, she really didn’t want nobody to talk to her.
Asia went back to her friend’s hair holding back the tears in her eyes. Asia knew her friend was hurting not only because of present decisions she need to make, but the past decisions she didn’t make.
As Kia, her brothers, and father got to the hospital after the accident. They went back there one at a time. When Kia went back there.
She was horrified.
Her mother’s face look ible. From her whole face swelled up due to the airbag hitting her badly. To the many cuts all over her face. With Kia eyes going straight to her eyes.
The beautiful brown eyes.
Those eyes were red from one her blood vessels that pop.
The one thing that the doctors didn’t look at that led to her death.
As Kia held her mother’s hand, Kia’s mother eyes turn to the person.
Kia mother saw her daughter, whom was 13, scared at the figure she was looking at.
“ Baby, it’s okay,” Kia’s mother croak, “ I am okay.” Kia’s mother coughed after finishing her sentence.
Kia looked at her mother’s eyes.
They wasn’t her mother’s.
“ Your eyes momma. They didn’t check your eyes. Something is wrong with your eyes!” Kia cried as she was letting go of her mother’s hand to go to the nurse’s station.
However, her mother caught her arm just in time.
Kia’s mother didn’t want her to get the doctor. She was ready to die.
Kia turned her head and looked at her mother.
Her eyes were not looking at her.
Kia followed them and she was staring at her father talking to one of her mother’s daughter. She looked back at her mother.
Her face was wet from the tears coming out of her eyes.
“ Take care of everybody . Especially your dad,” Kia’s mother voice croak out “ I love you all. I love you Kia. My eyes really hurt and they feel better when I close them.” Kia’s mother closed her eyes.
The beeping sound of the ventilator started to go crazy that set the alarm in the room off.
Nurses and Doctors came running in trying to revive her.
Kia watched it all.
She saw the faces change when they gave up.
As they all left, Kia was left in there.
Kia went to  her mother. She saw her eyes.
They were back to them beautiful brown eyes.
All Kia did was stare at her.
As her father and brothers walked in. Ernest broke down.
The kids were shocked at Ernest because he never broke down.
At the funeral, while everybody mourn. Ernest mourn the loudest.
Kia watch her mother casket get push down six feet under.
She saw her dad just sill and quiet.
She hugged her dad.
“ Daddy, I will always take care of you,” Kia said quietly, “ I will do what momma told me and as her beautiful brown eyes watch me.”
Ernest broked down.
Ever since then, Kia took care of her dad.
“Kia, Kia!” Asia shouted at her while waving her hand in her face. Kia snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Asia.
The chair was turn to the mirror at the finish process of her hair.
Kia always got her hair straighten whenever Florian has a big fight. It seems whenever Kia got her hair straighten; it seems like Florian won his fight.
“ Thanks girl.” Kia spoke in a mellow way.
“ You are going to leave your car here and I am driving.” Asia replied back sharply while looking at her friend.
Kia looked at Asia, where both of there eyes met. Kia didn’t even try to fight knowing Asia was not going to have no for an answer.
Kia and Asia both walked out of the salon and to her car. With that, Kia and Asia decided that where going to go to a sushi restaurant.
As Asia started the car, Kia went back about thinking about her mom.
Those beautiful brown eyes saw her daughter hurting from heaven. She knew in two days that her daughter was going make a decision that would change her.
For better and worst.
-------------------------------
“ Two California rolls and one spicy tuna sushi roll!” the chippy, server brought the food to Asia and Kia. The server skip away from the table after putting down her food.
“ Girl, was that women a leprechaun or something. Over there skipping away.” Asia said bewildered by the woman very over happy attiude.
Kia laughed for the first time today.
“ What for real. That is the ones that you watch out for. Those would be the people that would killed you while smiling.” Asia mumbled while still looking at the server.
“ Girl, you need to stop watching the investigation network channel!” Kia laughed while put some soy sauce in the one of the bowl.
Asia turn back to the table and laughed along with Kia.
“ Well are you going back to the house?” Asia asked Kia as she dip her Califorina roll into the soy sauce.
Kia tense up as they move the topic about Florian.
“ Can we not.” Kia rebuke back to Asia as she ate her spicy tune roll.
Asia rolled her eyes knowing that Masias would not like that answer about that. Masias and Asia was dating for about two years now. With that, Masias was one of Florian coaches and he could see that Florian was off his game after eating dinner.
Momma Florian told Masias about what happen and to see if he could get in touch with me.
“ Please, cause you know this is one of Florian biggest matches and he needs you girl to be his support. I know y’all going through something, but he needs his wife in his corner for this fight.” Asia explained to Kia as she trying to get to go home.
As Kia was listening to Asia, she saw Dominque, his cousin, and Brooks Jones.
“ Oh no.” Kia mumbled out as she was looking at them ask for a table. Asia followed her eyes and saw them.
As Kia and Asia was looking, Dominque look that way. Kia quickly turn her head the other way. However, Dominque walked over to them.
“Kia. Asia.” Dominque said while looking at the two women, but his eyes focus on Kia.
“Well look a here. It is the man that told my friend to abort there baby. What else,” Asia questioned, “ The same person that also verbal abuse her. Oh hello.” Asia gave him a sarcastic smile.
Dominque sighed and gulped.
Kia looked at Asia and sighed.
“ Dominque.” Kia said while looking at him.
“ I love my husband. With that, I don’t want you. I never want you again. Just please leave me alone and my family.” Kia spat out while looking at Dominque.
Kia saw Dominque face change to anger. The same face anger that she seen before. However he did something unexpectedly:
He laughed.
“ Well, you are the same bitch I left. You know, I didn’t want to see your ass. However, your dad called me and said that Kia was sorry for ever breaking up with me. With that, she is so sorry for spreading those lies about your temper,” Dominque snapped, “ I know that you going to coward to your daddy per usual and listen to him. Even when he does you wrong! Guess what, you are the main reason that you and Florian can’t be happy!”
As he finish saying that, Kia got up and slapped him.
This cause attention to move onto them.
“ You shut up! My dad would never do that! I fucking hate you!” Kia shouted and slapped him again and again. While she was slapping him, Dominque just laugh and laugh and laugh.
All a sudden she felt somebody pulled her away. She knew it couldn’t be Asia because she was five months pregnant and this person had huge muscles.
The person put her back down on the ground. She looked up and saw Brooks Jones.
“ Why the hell would you touch me!” Kia yelled at Brooks.
Brooks tall stature, 6 feet 1, and bulging muscles didn’t scared Kia one bit.
“ Well you was beating up on my cousin- in law.” Brooks laughed at the Kia.
“ Kia let’s go!” Asia said while trying to pull her away.
Brooks realized the name and smirk at her.
“ Oh so you are the woman, who writes my checks and about to have a beat up husband,” Brooks booming laugh, “ Tell your husband that he is a bitch just like his wife!”
Kia anger by his comment, grab somebodies water and threw on him. With that, she also threw the glass.
As she finish, Asia got enough grip and pulled Kia out of the restaurant. As Asia was pulling, Kia saw all the phones in the air capturing the exchange.
Asia got Kia in the car and then went to get in her side too.
“ Kia what the hell was that! This about to be every where!” Asia sighed while trying to catch her breath.
Kia  drunk a lot of Soju, a Korean beer, and she was a lightweight.
Kia just shook her head with her leg shaking.
“ You are too drunk Kia. Damn plus it is late.” Asia hissed as she read the clock, 12:45 a.m.
Asia cranked the car and went to take Kia home.
While back inside of the restaurant, Dominque was explain what is happening to his cousin and Brooks.
As he was talking and Brooks was listening.
The wheels started to turn.
Brooks knew that Florian wasn’t going to be easy. However, he don’t like when people talk about his family.
Brooks smirk as he devious plan was stirring in his head which was going to help him win against Florian.
-------------------------------------------------------------
As Asia pulled into the driveway, she called Florian. Asia knowing that she can’t help her friend in the house due to her bulging belly.
She had to call someone.
The phone rang and rang.
“ Hello.” Florian groggily said into the phone.
“ Hey Florian. I need you come and get Kia out of the car for me.” Asia whispered as Kia was knocked out in the passenger seat.
Asia heard Florian sighed and the bed rustling.
“ I’m coming.” Florian hissed out as he walk downstairs to get Kia.
Asia hung up the phone and turn to her friend.
Kia and Asia agreed that Kia was going to tell Florian about what happen, but she knew Kia was going to try and figure a way to not tell him.
She fell asleep.
Asia wanted to tell Florian about what happen, but she knew that this was something her friend needed to tell him.
As Asia was thinking to herself. She saw the door opening.
Florian walked out the door and saw Asia’s car.
As Florian walked over he could see that Kia was drunk by how she was sleeping.
Florian walked over to the passenger side and open the door. He bent down and spoke to Asia.
“ Masias is in the guest house.” Florian smiled to Asia. He looked at Asia’s belly and sighed as he looked back to his wife.
As he picked her up, Kia woke up. She looked around as Florian brought her out the car.
While carrying her like a bride on her wedding night, Florian made sure Asia got in the house first. With that, they walked in the door with Asia shutting it behind them.
“ Goodnight.” Asia whispered as she tip toe around people on the floor, sleeping, to get to the guest house.
Florian walked up the stairs with Kia in his arms. He walked through their room door and gently put Kia in the bed.
Kia looked up at him as he went back to close the door.
When Florian turn back around, he saw Kia looking at him.
He just shook his head.
“What?” Kia spat out while looking at her husband.
Her drunkenness' was coming through.
“ You are what is wrong with me Kia. Why the hell would you get drunk. You know what tomorrow!” Florian hissed quietly so he would not disrupt anybody sleeping.
Kia scoffed and got up to change out her clothes.
“ Trust me I tried not to come back here!” Kia rebuked back to him.
Florian watched as she stumble all over the place to get to one of the dressers.
“ You make me sick sometimes!” Florian snapped at his wife while watching her put her pajamas on which she fell after she got her pants on.
Kia finish putting her pajamas and turn her head.
“ You make me sick Florian. Not only sometimes but all the time. You and my dad make me sick all the time!” Kia yelled back while getting into the bed.
Kia looked up at Florian looking at her.
“ You are not the woman that I fell in love with. The woman that wanted kids. The woman who had dreams and ambitions to start something of her own. However, you letting one person destroy that. The same person that is destroying this marriage.” Florian said furiously while looking at his wife.
Florian walked over to his side of the bed and took his shirt back off. He got under the covers and turn his face away from Kia.
Kia looked at Florian for a while.
“ Well Florian if you want a divorce get one. Leave just like my mom left me! Just leave!” Kia yelled with tears coming down her eyes.
She snatched the covers over her body and turn face the other way.
Kia sniffled and sniffled from the tears coming down.
Florian listen.
Even though Kia didn’t hear.
Florian had tears coming down his face too.
The couple’s back looking at each other.
Both hurting.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Well that is... wow.
So we have learn something about Kia. Cause y’all been dogging my girl.
So Kia’s mother death.
Does she feel like it her fought?

Comatose
Darkness.
Silence.
Distant gunfire.
Muffled clashes of metal.
Humming magitek.
Distant...
...closer...
...closer...
Her eyes open, sky blue gaze sweeping across a battlefield. Blue hues reflecting raging fires, glinting twisted metal, pools of blood. Her brow furrows as she realises where she is.
The Bozjan Southern Front.
She freezes in horror as it registers where she is.
When she is.
Eyes wide, she turns slowly, slowly...
A body lies on the ground, clad in familiar raiment, blood pooling beneath the figure.
***Blink.***
She kneels beside the body, frantically casting spell after spell, the weak regenerative and heals seeming to do nothing. Instantly, tears stream down her cheeks as she cries hysterically, rapidly burning away her still-meagre aether reserves. Her gaze flickers about the area, and she wonders why her twin and her lover aren't there.
"Because it's a dream, daughter-in-law."
Wide eyes refocus on the dying man she's attempting to save, her jaw falling at his voice and at his words.
How was he speaking? He couldn't speak...shouldn't talk...and why call her *that*...
A soft smile crosses the dying man's lips as he reiterates gently, "...because it's a dream, Aquila."
Slowly, the aether stops streaming out of her hands as she blinks at him over and over. And then the corner of his lip turns up in a faint smirk as she begins to understand what's going on. Then, weakly, his hand moves to lower hers entirely, placing them on her lap before covering one with his.
"So you're...still dead?" she queries with a deep frown.
The man nods as he replies, "Yeah. Nothing can change that. It was time."
His answer causes her to sigh before she places her other hand over his.
Brow furrowing further, she murmurs, "I...don't understand why we're here..."
She's given that slight smirk again as he states, "...you're sharper than that - my son wouldn't love you if you weren't."
Blue eyes widen again as she whispers a single word, "...Talekeeper..."
The man who would have been her father-in-law nods a few times, the motion just barely noticeable.
"Did he explain what the blade is?" he asks, glancing at the weapon on her right hip. "And what I was?"
Nodding again, she answers, "A little. He told me you were a Blade of Queen Gunnhildr and that the sword was forged for you."
Her response is greeted with a sigh and the faintest shake of his head.
"Telling you everything and nothing," he fondly murmurs, "sounds just like my son."
And then, the dying man does something he shouldn't be capable of at all - he sits up, albeit slowly. Reflexively, his other hand covers the worst of his wounds, blood flowing over his tanned skin. Otherwise, he seems undisturbed by the failing state of his body.
"Everyone in Bozja will tell you something different about what it means to be a Blade, outside of the obvious task of being the Queen's guards," he begins to explain to her. "Even within the Blades, you won't find an exact consensus - we all had different motivations for accepting the position."
She tries not to stare at the wound in his torso, at the blood spilling over his hand, forcing herself to focus on either the hand she's holding or his features and gaze. Had this been real and not a dream, he would have already bled out.
"When I first joined, it was during a time of peace - before the truth of what happened to save Bozja the first time was known. That's not to say we didn't have skirmishes with bandits and the like," he continues, nodding out to the battlefield. "This place wasn't at all like it is now; most of the country wasn't. Hells, sometimes it felt like I had to attend more social functions than actually fight."
"Then...why leave? I know Leth wasn't raised in Bozja," she asks before adding, "especially not going to a bunch of social functions..."
Her expression makes the dying man laugh, blood briefly gushing with each contraction of his midsection. He shakes his head a little, smiling at her for a brief moment.
"I am sorry for that. You've got your work cut out for you, but I'm sure you'll manage," he states, still grinning. "You'd already done quite a bit of good for him before we even met."
She can't help but flush a little. She'd known that her lover had changed in the time they've known one another, but she was surprised that it was as much as her dead father-in-law-to-be was claiming it was. But, unfortunately, she also has no idea what to say in response, so she just gives him a sheepish smile while waiting for him to continue.
"Anyroad, aside from serving my Queen and Bozja writ-large, I thought that it would provide a suitable environment for my wife and later Byleth," he resumes, his expression softening at the mention of his family before becoming worn again. "And then the Garleans invaded, and everything changed..."
There's an awkwardness about her now, at the mention of her homeland's penchant for conquest. He notices and gives her hand a squeeze, exuding reassurance and care.
"You're okay, daughter of mine. While I was a little hesitant when you all arrived in Bozja, I quickly realised you weren't like the people we were fighting," he quietly comforts. "If more Garleans had been like you and your twin, we'd never have had to fight in the first place."
Her head shoots up, her now wide-eyed gaze shifting from their hands to his features, jaw falling again.
"Why-- why do you keep calling me that?"
Despite having a gash across his back from shoulder to hip, despite having a fatal stab wound on his front, the question makes the dying man laugh hard. He's too amused to notice how much blood the movement causes to spill from his wounds, though it's much harder for her not to see.
"Because you're going to marry my son," he replies with mirth. "I'd planned on walking you down the aisle since your dad's well...more of a sperm donor than a dad."
For a moment, she has a stray thought, wondering why her lover hadn't inherited his father's humour - as shocking as his words were. She stares at him, much like some surprised little critter, mouth hanging open with surprise.
"I'm kidding. I know your brother'd likely be the one to do that part," he adds after a long moment of laughing at her shocked expression. "Anyroad, that established, I should finish explaining everything to you before it's too late."
"Too late?" she echoes in confusion.
The dying man nods a little as he points out, "It's a dream, kiddo. You're going to wake up in a little bit, and it'll all be over."
His words make sense, and she nods a little as she gives his hand a squeeze, waiting for him to continue speaking. Faintly, she can sense the presence of her twin, close at hand yet incredibly distant.
"I was nearly captured during the invasion, but my mentor managed to help me escape. For a time, Sitri, my wife, and I went into hiding," he continues, the amusement draining from his features as he speaks. "After she died, I felt it was safer to leave Bozja entirely, and so Sylvain and I took Byleth and started our company once we were well away."
As he speaks of his dead wife, she gives his hand a gentle pat and a squeeze, trying to emulate the comforting air he used on her. He notices the shift in her emotions, swiftly realising how uncannily similar his earlier concern had been. Realisation dawns, and he gazes at her with an entirely new understanding.
"Can you do that with anything?" he asks her.
Confused, she murmurs, "...do what?"
He hadn't expected that she wouldn't be consciously aware of her ability, but he nods faintly at her confusion before he attempts to explain.
"It's one thing to express the same emotion as someone else," he theorises, bloodied hand lifting to rub his chin, seemingly oblivious to the blood that covers such. "It's a whole different thing to express the same emotion with identical intent and reason. Most of us do the former, but you do the latter. I wonder how far such can go."
She's quiet for a brief moment, looking away towards where her brother would be back in the waking world. Then, she murmurs softly, "...it goes pretty far. I learned an Ilsabardian technique without being told how it works - I only saw it in use. I didn't even know what it was at the time. I just...summoned a weapon made out of aether...then had trouble drawing it back in because my opponent hadn't done so."
The revelation causes the man to pause, primarily due to having only ever seen or heard of the Blades of Gunnhildr being capable of the feat. His eyes fall to the blade on her right hip again before they shift back to stare at her.
"So...you have no way to regulate the use of aether?" he seeks clarification.
"I...sort of do. The Captain gave me a piece of Magicite to channel it through - it works sorta like a focus does," she clarifies for him. "But...I have to be conscious for it to work. The whole reason I'm asleep right now is that I got knocked out while using it...and it nearly drained me."
And then, all of a sudden, it becomes even more evident that this is a dream. Withdrawing his hand from between hers, the man who should be dead several times over by now...stands up. He reflexively covers the stab wound with his hand as he straightens, the other motioning to her blade.
"Let me see that a moment, Quil," he requests as he holds out his other hand.
For a very long moment, she just sits there staring at him with a pallid expression before she manages to nod. Then, standing as well, she passes the blade back to its original owner. He flicks his wrist several times, reacquainting himself with his old friend. He makes several slashes with it then, before falling into as much of an en garde as he can manage, with his insides trying to fall out.
"Watch and learn, daughter of mine," he softly states before suddenly channelling aether into the blade; he means it quite literally. He makes a series of motions with the sword, an aether trail forming behind it, and then suddenly flings the excess aether from the blade. It lodges into the husk of a mantis magitek nearby. Before she can even comment, he reactivates the rapier's Royal Armoury, mock-fighting once more before lowering the blade, the aether retreating back into his form - without his consciously thinking about it.
Falling into a more relaxed stance, he looks over to her with a questioning expression. "Do you need me to do it again?" he asks, head inclining just a little. "It's not something you'll master immediately, but do you think you can do it already?"
There was only one way to find out.
She holds her hand out for the sword, and he passes it back to her. Then, taking a deep breath, she assumes the seemingly counterintuitive stance she uses for fencing. Another deep breath, and she begins channelling aether down into the blade, although she doesn't make the series of cuts he had.
Instead, she focuses solely on how he'd discharged the aether from the blade. Without any sort of telegraph, she suddenly makes the same slashing motion he had. The aether that's released is far more chaotic than what he released, its form barely cohesive before it splatters against the same mech.
"The lead-up motions were important, though it might not be quite so obvious," he corrects gently. "It's a matter of piggybacking the aetheric energy off the kinetic energy."
Nodding, she tries again, this time executing an identical series of motions before releasing the aether. It has more form this time, though it's still quite pitiful compared to his; he nods his approval anyway, as he'd already stated it wasn't going to be something she could instantly master.
"Now, the other one," he instructs.
Taking another deep breath, she refocuses on the blade. Although she doesn't assume the mock-fighting was entirely necessary for this one, she did think it was likely good to learn how to cut off the Armoury amid combative movement. Again, she executes an identical series of motions before falling out of an aggressive mindset - not that there's much visible difference in how she stands or how she holds the blade.
Some of the aether flows back into her, but some of it still lingers within the blade. Frowning, she makes the same series of motions again before falling back out of combat.
"Stop thinking about it," he orders, tapping a finger to his temple. "Let your mind empty as you lower your guard."
"...it's not as easy as it looks," she murmurs, looking confused as he bursts out laughing again.
That doesn't sit well with her. However, it causes her to redouble her efforts.
Deep within her mind, the frayed remnants of the conditioning her father had created and her stalker had tried to erase finds something to finally cling to. It wraps itself around the techniques, around the ephemeral mantle being passed, reviving old triggers and creating new. Her eyes close as she concentrates, and she takes another slow, deep breath.
When her eyes open, they're not entirely focused. Instead, a trance-like quality stirs as she begins to execute the motions again - this time identical down to the tiniest fraction of measurement. And then, just as suddenly as she began repeating the moves, she drops out of combat once more; this time, the majority of the aether flows back into her.
He's torn about praising her for her success, debating on whether or not the cost was too high. Unsure of whether the battle-trance was something she learned by watching someone else, or something more, there's a moment of hesitance before he speaks.
"Aquila..." he softly calls as he moves over to her. A hand is placed on either of her upper arms, gently gripping. "I don't know what just happened, but I hope someday you can accomplish this without having to do that."
She gives him a confused look as darkness starts to invade upon the edges of her consciousness. He frowns, sensing not only her confusion but her mind's shifting towards wakefulness. His gaze drops to the sword she's holding, then back up to her features.
"Ask my son about my nickname," he urges in a manner that implies there's more than meets the eye to the request. "And...take care of him for me."
Her brow furrows as the darkness encroaches upon her vision, but she nods at the pair of requests, murmuring, "I promise...dad..."
Without warning, everything goes dark.
Sitting up, she reaches her hand out to where the dying many should have been.
"JERALT!" she shouts before she really focuses on the room.
Beside her, her twin startles from his sitting sleep, rising immediately, hand reaching for his scythe until the word finally processes. Then, hand lowering, he looks at her in confusion.
"You...had a nightmare about his death again, didn't you," he murmurs as he lowers himself down beside her, pulling her into a hug.
She shakes her head a little as she slumps against him, all of the pain her sleep had been keeping at bay flooding over her, especially her left hand.
"No, not a nightmare," she clarifies to him, "more like an extraordinary dream."
Frowning a little, her brother begins to gently pet through her hair, murmuring, "Well, you'll have to tell Leth and me about it once you've recovered."
Nodding, she rests her head against her twin's shoulder, eyes closing as his comforting presence begins to lull her back to sleep.

how fast the night changes
pairing: alex/willie, background julie/luke
fandom: julie and the phantoms
rating: general
word count: 2244
warning: swearing, referenced homophobia (very brief)
summary: "I think it's brilliant." Reggie tells him. "Brilliant?" Alex deadpans, "You think asking Domino's to send your cutest delivery guy is brilliant?" (an ‘everyone is alive’ AU, seen on this post)
(i am once again late to an event, but here’s my fic for @jatp-week! i really kinda mixed the prompts of day 2 and 3, but nevertheless, i found a cute and hilarious au and had to write it 💖 hope yall enjoy!!)
read on ao3
“I can’t write that, Luke!”
“Yes, you can, dude! Trust me.”
Alex hates his friends. So much.
Okay, no, they’re wonderful and crazy and planned him a birthday party, so maybe he can’t really hate them.
But they’re real close to the limit right now.
Because after much not so civil discussion of pizza toppings, they’re about to order, and suddenly Luke makes a turn back to the topic of Alex’s love life.
Sounds weird, he knows.
But Luke and Reggie, who he’s almost known since birth (well, in spirit, at least), have a minor obsession with setting him up with someone.
He’s always been admittedly socially awkward, so Alex knows the boys are doing it out of love, and they wouldn’t ever make him uncomfortable.
Well, intentionally, anyway. Their insistent wingmen roles suit them, while being perpetually annoying.
And Flynn loves to join in a bit too much for Alex’s liking.
Julie’s more indifferent to this topic of discussion, because she’s an angel. Credit for settling ninety percent of their squabbles goes directly to her, but since her and Luke finally started dating, they’ve been dragging her to their side.
Goddammit.
Alex is currently staring at his best friend in disbelief, and while their advice makes sense most of the time, this is just outrageous.
“I think it’s brilliant,” Reggie tells him from the bean bag, in possession of the tv remote, which he’s been zapping through movies with for an insane amount of time, “and can we order, already? I’m starving.”
Julie’s been an angel, once more, by hosting the surprise party for Alex. And he totally didn’t cry when they revealed themselves. Nope.
The boys hugged him, to the point of them all cuddling on the floor before the girls claimed their own Alex-time, and really, emotions everywhere.
This is also less than a month since Alex came out to them, and to be honest, it was the scariest thing he’s ever done.
That’s why he loves them so much. They’re the first people he’s ever told, not even his parents, and he’s not sure when he’ll do that.
Religion’s always been strict at home, and he’s pretty sure having an openly gay son might give his dad a heart attack.
Alex can’t bear the thought of rejection from his own family. He’s got a family here, though. And this is safety.
“Brilliant?” he deadpans, Reggie clearly not understanding the absolute embarrassment this could only result in, “You think asking Domino’s to send your cutest delivery guy is brilliant?”
His friend only replies with a wild gesture of arms.
“Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree.” Flynn speaks up, and Julie shook her head with a smile.
“I wouldn’t call it brilliant,” she adds, just about saving Alex’s heart, until, “but I kinda wanna see who they send.”
“Julie!”
“What?!”
“Forget it, drummer boy! She’s on our side!”
The boys laugh, and my God, they’re the worst. He can’t be mad at these idiots, which is why he simply rubs his temples. No additional notes, then.
“Okay, so, if we forget that and everyone’s happy with that many toppings, then-” and really, Alex is mere seconds from the pay button, till his phone is grabbed from his hands too quickly for him to react.
Luke is the absolute worst.
“Hey! Give it back!” he really tries, really, jumping towards his best friend, who laughs, with Flynn eagerly holding him back, “Don’t you dare, Luke!”
“Dare what?” he replies innocently, and suddenly, his phone is back, and a white screen tells him Thanks for your order.
So not only did his stupid romantic of a friend write exactly the note he protested against, but as if it weren’t enough, he added a winky smiley, too.
Alex is done with wingmen, done with love. Nope, never doing that. Ever.
Except it’s done now, and they all got a smug expression on their faces, except Julie, of course, with her apologetic eyes, and man, he just wants to hide forever.
He’s giving Luke his best stink eye, which he has too much puppy eyes to do, Flynn told him, and his friend rubs his shoulders assuringly, “Alex, what’s the worst that could happen? Either you get the cute guy’s number, or if he’s not cool, you’ll play it off as a prank, or something.”
Alex just shakes his head.
And Reggie’s stopped zapping, landing on The Empire Strikes Back, like he hasn’t seen it about 300 times before.
“I hate you.” he tells them simply.
Reggie grins like an asshole from the beanbag, “You could never.”
It’s especially annoying because he’s sort of right. And really, it’s not like Alex can turn back time now, so even though he’ll definitely get them back for this, somehow, there’s not much else to do than wait.
Fifteen minutes pass by where Luke and Julie hog the couch to themselves, Yoda’s hitting R2D2 with a stick, and Flynn obsesses over just how many different snacks they need.
Reggie decides to abandon the bean bag, too, and rest his head on Alex’s shoulder instead, so maybe it makes it all okay.
And so when twenty minutes have gone by along with throwing popcorn at the television, and Alex intensely quizzing Julie on what kind of birthday cake they got him, the doorbell rings, and the living room bursts into a tantrum.
His friends jump all around him, because of course, they want him to answer the door, which he’s refusing, but they seem too excited to listen when this ridiculous plan of theirs is reaching its peak.
Luke’s holding his shoulders again, “Answer it!”
“I mean, this is technically Julie’s house-” Reggie manages, surprisingly, but Flynn looks at him with disapproval, “Don’t switch sides now, man!”
But Alex is already at the door, suddenly, somehow, in the midst of the discussion.
He doesn’t really see the point in protesting now, anyway, and Julie pinches Luke’s side, redeeming her in his heart. Also, he can’t help touching his hair, cause that’s what happens when he’s nervous.
“I promise, Alex, you’ll be fine!” she looks excited too, but like, secretly.
They all nod in unison, too, dorks.
And so he mentally prepares himself for possibly the most awkward experience in his life. Dramatic, he knows, but seriously, will this exchange be anything other than painful? He doubts it.
Is it too much to hope for, that the delivery guy doesn’t see the notes? Maybe it’s just the boss who handles the orders, yeah, that’s not impossible. Right?
But as much as Alex is prepared for the embarrassing conversation ahead, he’s certainly, in no way prepared, as it turns out, for seeing who’s standing on the other side of the door.
The delivery guy. Well, obviously, stupid brain, but listen.
Alex is met with the cutest guy he’s ever seen. And he’s met a lot of cute guys, albeit they’re all in the same small town, but come on.
In short, let’s say Domino’s delivered more than they asked for.
And uh, yes, Alex realises the irony. Reggie would love that joke, he thinks to himself, hysterically, actually.
So, said delivery guy standing in front of him is a bit shorter, and, of course, he’s wearing uniform, cap and winter jacket, in this god forbidden weather, but he notices the strands of dark hair framing his face immediately.
And the red, dangling earring on his right ear. And his cheekbones, oh my god.
There’s no way he’ll tell his friends any of that once this is over.
Said friends are snickering in the background, by the way, or well, Reggie is, anyway. He prays they’ve moved slightly behind the door, or turned back to the couch, or anywhere out of sight.
“Hey, man!” the shorter boy says, while Alex is suffering an internal breakdown, “It’s, uh, 10 pizzas for ya, right?”
And so he nods tight lipped as an answer, because honestly, he’s not sure he’s capable of forming words right now. As if he wasn’t already embarrassed enough. Super mega cute delivery guy lifts an eyebrow, just enough that it’s noticeable, but he doesn’t voice whatever thoughts passed his mind.
Bless him.
That is, until Alex gets all the cash out (with a tip, hopefully making his shift a bit more bearable, when he has to deal with something like this), and he suddenly asks, “So, am I alright?”
Alex thinks his brain might have an immediate shut down. “What?” he sputters, and his voice totally doesn't squeak, shut up.
Cute delivery guy giggles. That’s just not fair, is it?
“Am I cute enough, I mean.”
That- oh my god. First of all, said boy doesn’t look tired, or annoying, or weirded out, judging by his expression.
Second of all, he looks to the ground for a second, but really, his posture is all confidence. Except he bites his lip, which gives Alex a headache.
“I, uh…” he starts, like he actually knows to finish the sentence, “Sorry, uhm. My friends. They’re ridiculous.”
“Oh.”
Alex expects more, but he doesn’t continue.
Is his mind playing games with him, or does cute delivery guy actually look… disappointed?
No, that can’t be right. He can’t be flattered by a customer note, which, by the way, did the boss decide who to send? Did the Domino’s delivery, or whatever, have a collective vote?
Alex truly doesn’t understand the chaos his friends get him into, sometimes.
He has to admit, it’s not half bad, given that he’s getting food and looking at a cute guy. And actually talking to him. That’s a first.
So, not having much time to weigh his options, he gives the shorter boy the money and tries his hand with damage control, “I mean, uhm, it’s my birthday. Sorry, my friends are obsessed with setting me up with someone, so here we are. I-I’m so sorry, I… and they! Didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
Super mega cute delivery guy nods along with Alex’s anxious spiel.
And then he smiles, but somehow it looks less like a customer service smile, and more like… a real one? Warmer. He doesn’t really know.
Alex is an absolute wreck, so he’s scared to get his hopes up. Cute guy still thinks he’s a weirdo, probably. More so now.
“Seriously, don’t worry man.” he answers, in what Alex feels is an eternity later, “And happy birthday! Damn, you should’ve put that in the order. We got specials.”
And fuck, he’s so cute. Almost looks genuinely excited, and so he can’t help but giggle. Nervously. It’s the Alex way, as Flynn says.
“Thanks.” he tells him, and he hopes to God he isn’t blushing right now.
The guys will never let him forget this day, he’s sure.
Transaction’s pretty much straightforward then, and his dork friends actually show themselves and help get the pizzas (and three soda sixpacks, seriously, Luke?) into the living room.
Reggie elbows him with a smirk, too, the idiot.
Thing is, that’s out of the way too, and there’s pretty much zero reason for super mega cute delivery guy to be here anymore. His scooter certainly doesn’t look empty of goods just yet.
Yet, he lingers.
Only for a few seconds, before he catches Alex completely off guard with another question, “So, you don’t want a cute delivery guy?”
There’s no way in hell he isn’t blushing right now, holy shit.
It just makes Alex feel even more like a puddle of goo, because the shorter boy bites his lip again.
And because his mouth is even more stupid than his nerves, “I, uh, I-I mean… Yes. Well, I got one.” blurts out before he can stop it.
This leads to super mega cute delivery guy raising his brows, putting his hands in his pockets, and putting a stupid grin on his face.
Alex is so lost so quick, oh my god.
“You think I’m cute?” he asks, almost sounding surprised, which is possibly the most ridiculous thing tonight, because look at him!
He can’t help looking at his feet, because surely, he must be blushing beyond belief. And the shorter boy tilts his head just a bit, not losing eye contact completely.
Seriously, can he stop being this cute? Alex might just combust soon.
“I mean… obviously.” he tries, shrugging and fixing his hair, “I, well, Domino’s certainly delivered. Oh my god, uh, that’s just terrible. I’m so sorry.”
When Alex finally straightens up again, super mega cute delivery guy smiles at him, exposing his dimples, and that just makes him feel even more things. If that was even possible right now.
“You’re adorable.”
Okay, now, what is actually going on.
He blinks rapidly, like this is a figment of his imagination that’ll disappear in front of him, except the shorter boy grabs the receipt and scribbles something.
And he sticks his tongue out a little bit when writing, like there wasn’t enough cute things about him already, fucking hell.
Next thing Alex knows, he’s handed the slip of paper again, with something at the top that looks quite a lot like a phone number.
Cutest delivery guy, he had signed it off.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
“Name’s Willie, by the way,” super mega cute delivery tells him, ultimately turning back to the long awaiting red scooter, butnot without a wink that totally didn’t make Alex’s knees wobble.
“See ya, birthday boy!”

If There’s a Place I Could Be - Chapter Seventy Five
If There’s a Place I Could Be Tag
November 22nd, 2000
“Toby!” Remy exclaimed, running to his brother and hugging him tight. “Oh, God, Toby, am I relieved to see you!”
“Hey, Rem!” Toby exclaimed, turning from where he had been talking to Vanessa to hug Remy. “It’s so good to see you! How’s college been?”
Remy’s stomach churned and he groaned. “Oh, God, I don’t want to talk about it,” he complained.
“Fair enough,” Toby laughed. “I feel the same way after midterms. Have you made any friends, at least?”
“I mean, I guess...” Remy said. “Although he made me his friend more than I made him my friend.”
“Still! A friend! That’s progress!” Toby said excitedly. “What’s his name?”
“His name’s Emile, and he’s—”
Remy was cut off as his mother called them all to the dinner table. “You can explain about him more after dinner,” Toby promised. “I’ll love to hear all about him.”
  November 22nd, 2002
“Oh, my God, Emile, hon, breathe,” Remy said with a little laugh, placing his hands on Emile’s shoulders and gently shaking him.
Emile was not, in fact, breathing like Remy requested. Emile was bawling on the couch having just watched the finale of Courage the Cowardly Dog. “I-I-I don’t want it to be over!” Emile wailed.
“Want it or not, it’s over, hon, you’re gonna pass out at this rate. Please. Breathe,” Remy requested.
Emile took in one deep breath, then another, and Remy gave him an encouraging smile. “Good. That’s good, hon.”
“I feel dizzy,” Emile breathed.
“Yeah, well, you hyperventilated for a good fifteen minutes, I’m not surprised. Should I get you some water?” Remy asked.
“Please?” Emile asked softly.
Remy kissed Emile’s temple and went to the kitchen, grabbing him a glass of water. He walked back over and Emile took the water with a small “Thank you,” taking small sips as his hands ever-so-slightly shook.
“Are you like this when any cartoon you like ends? Because if so, then I might need to get you a designated sobbing corner in our apartment,” Remy teased.
“No, I’m not like this every time,” Emile huffed. “I’m just like this with the ones that mean a lot to me.”
“So, all of them,” Remy filled in.
Emile stuck his tongue out at Remy but Remy just grinned shamelessly. “Listen, I don’t freak out over every last cartoon I’ve ever seen,” Emile said.
“Oh, I’m sure,” Remy said. “You have your calm moments, totally.”
“Remy!” Emile laughed. “I’m trying to be serious.”
“I’m trying to be realistic while also being lighthearted,” Remy said with a shrug. “You get really obsessed with all things cartoons, Emile. I would not be surprised if this happens again.”
Emile pouted, but Remy counted that as better than a scowl, and therefore a win. “I’m not a child, Rem,” Emile said.
“Of course you’re not a child,” Remy said, blinking. “You’re my boyfriend, and a wonderful man, and a massive geek, but you’re not a child.”
Emile was continuing to pout and Remy sat down next to him on the couch. “Is this post-cartoon withdrawal or is this a serious self-esteem issue about you being seen as a child?”
“Probably a mix of both,” Emile said reluctantly. “I just...everyone likes to joke about me getting obsessed with cartoons, and just being...like a giant puppy, or something. And yeah, most of the time that doesn’t bother me, but is that all people see me as? Do they only see me as an overgrown child who just needs to...grow up?”
“I can tell you right now that’s not the case, Emile,” Remy said with absolute certainty. “I mean, sure, cartoons are generally made for children. But liking them doesn’t make you a child. You’ve seen what happens in the adult world, and you’re training to become a therapist to help people with the real world being far, far too much for them to handle. You know exactly how depraved the real world can be. And you use cartoons to remember that good can triumph over evil, that at the end of the day, friendship and family make everything better, and that even in our darkest moments, there’s hope. You don’t simply use them as an escape from the real world, you use them to look at the real world in a different, more positive light. And that’s...honestly, that’s one of the most mature things I can think of. Proving to the world that you won’t be beaten down, that you’ll keep looking for the good in everything. You’re not a child. Sometimes, you like childish things, but liking childish things doesn’t make you a child. I should know. I’m a grown adult who lives vicariously through comic books.”
Emile laughed. “I guess you’re right,” he conceded. “It’s just...hard to remember sometimes. And I know my family always means the teasing about me loving cartoons in good fun, but after a while...it wears on me, and then something happens, like one of my favorite cartoons being cancelled, and I cry over it, and I ask myself, am I really that child that everyone says I am?”
“No, hon, you’re not a child,” Remy said. “Think about it this way: everything my mom says is wrong, and my mom called you a child and ‘stuck in the past.’ Still feel like that has any basis in truth?”
Emile blinked. “...No,” he admitted. “But I really don’t think I can use your mother as the basis for making me feel better most of the time. Usually, she just makes me mad.”
“That’s fair, she drives me up the wall too,” Remy said with a grin.
Emile laughed, only slightly hysterically. “You know, we’re having Thanksgiving here this year,” he said.
“Yeah?” Remy asked. “With your parents. What’s your point?”
“What if your mother comes back?” Emile asked. “Are you ready for that?”
Remy shrugged. “If she comes back I’ll refer to your mom as my mom until she gets the message to leave, and we don’t let her through the door for literally anything,” he said. “Like, my mom scares me, but your parents have gotten her to back down without too much trouble before. If worst comes to worst I can hide behind your dad.”
Emile laughed. “That doesn’t sound like a very solid plan, Rem,” he said.
“Well, I mean...I don’t have a solid plan. I’m not, like, getting nightmares over Thanksgiving but I am admittedly anxious enough that I don’t like thinking about it if I can help it,” Remy admitted. “I’m not really ready to go head-to-head with her. Your parents can act as a buffer, at least a little bit, and I know you won’t put up with her hanging around the apartment, but like...I’m still nervous.”
“That’s understandable,” Emile said with a nod. “Are you ready for Thanksgiving otherwise? I mean, my parents agreed to get the turkey, but do we need to go grocery shopping?”
Remy blinked. “I completely forgot! That’s what I was going to do before I found you sobbing your eyes out on the couch. Emile! We need to go grocery shopping.”
Emile laughed and nodded. “All right, good to know. Should we head out now?”
“Um. Yeah. We have six days, so everything we need should be there and not bought out, with the benefit of it not going bad before Thanksgiving.”
“Then we’d better head out,” Emile said, finishing his water and standing up. “We don’t want to miss out on the cranberry sauce because I was bawling my eyes out about Courage.”
Remy laughed, but his mind was whirring as he grabbed his coat and shoes. His mother was probably going to show up on or around Thanksgiving again, to try and take him back to her house. And much as he would like to see Toby again, he didn’t have his own car that he could use to drive away once he got contact info, so he had no chance of leaving if he went with his mother. And not coming back home, never seeing Emile again, that wasn’t an option. In fact, if Toby found out Remy had left the love of his life just to see Toby again, he would probably be calling Remy bone-dead stupid for the rest of time.
Emile brushed his hand against Remy’s as they left the apartment complex and headed to the grocery store. “What are you thinking about?” he asked.
“Toby,” Remy admitted. “I just...miss him and wish I could see him again. Not enough to go with my mother anywhere, of course, but I still miss him.”
“We’ll find him,” Emile promised Remy. “Dice said he had a couple leads last time we met, remember? It’s not much, and it will probably take some months to get everything figured out and find out which lead is going to lead us to him, but we’ll find him. We’re closer than ever before.”
“Yeah,” Remy said, but he wasn’t feeling as confident as Emile sounded.
“Remy,” Emile said. “We will find him. I know you’d love to see him by Christmas, or your birthday, or someday soon, and it bums you out that isn’t possible. But one day, we’re going to find him, and he’s going to give you a big hug, and you’re going to give him one back, and you two will keep close. Like, I can’t see a time where he isn’t a phone call away, once we find him. Even if the two of you didn’t talk for months, I have no doubt you could just pick up the phone and chat again like the two of you had never stopped talking in the first place. Just from what you’ve told me of him, he wouldn’t throw away his second chance. He would hold it as close as he could, and he would never, ever let go.”
Remy nodded with a sad smile. “That does sound like him,” he sighed. “I just...I don’t know. I wish he could be here for the big things, and the little things. Like, Christmas is going to be a pain, just because I’m going to think about him no matter what with all the emphasis on family and friendship and camaraderie and staying together no matter what. Like, I’d kill to just have the option of calling him, even if I didn’t actually do that. And it feels like Toby is just...a huge focus on our conversations nowadays, and I don’t mean for that to happen, but it just kinda...does.”
“Well, the holidays are coming up, which means you miss him more. That’s normal, Rem,” Emile said, placing a hand on Remy’s shoulder. They walked into the grocery store, and Emile grabbed a basket. “We’ll talk about him as much as you need to, and when the hurt ebbs away a little bit, like it usually does after the holidays, we’ll have room to talk about other things.”
“Like what?” Remy asked. “What do we normally talk about when I’m not obsessed with Toby?”
“Normal life stuff. Work, school, friends. Whatever crazy project you want to try whenever you have the time. Whatever small thing has gotten into my hair and refuses to let me go free until you help me work through the knots.”
It felt like Emile was trying to hold something back from him, though. “What aren’t you telling me, Emile?” Remy asked, his eyes squinted.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Emile lied.
“Emile,” Remy insisted.
“Remy, trust me when I say it’ll be much better as a surprise, okay?” Emile said. “I’m working on something for your birthday, and it’s taking a while so I started early, but I’m getting everything set up, slowly but surely. And it’ll be ready in time for your birthday, and you’re probably going to be chattering about it non-stop when it comes to pass. But right now, it’s not ready, and I want to surprise you. So can we talk about something else?”
Remy groaned. “Oh, you’re no fun, Emile. Fine. What boring thing do you want to talk about that doesn’t involve my birthday?”
Emile looked around the store. “Where do we go first? What ingredients do we need for Thanksgiving dinner?”
Remy hummed and said, “Well, we need the cranberry sauce, and stuffing, and ice cream. I talked to your dad, and he’s bringing a pie over—”
“—Because of course he is,” Emile finished.
“—So we don’t have to worry about that,” Remy said. “I think we should pick some rolls up, or at least some dough and bake the rolls ourselves, just because that’s always a nice add-on, and then we need to figure out the gravy.”
Emile nodded. “Sounds good,” he agreed.
Remy started pulling Emile around in the search, but in the back of his mind the gears were still whirring like crazy. What exactly did Emile have planned for his birthday? What would take so long that he’d have to start in November?
And would it ruin Remy’s plans to go out and buy a ring for Emile?

*Batfam fic-recs
*Some are Tim Drake Centric
**Some links are not working in mobile (and ONLY mobile) for some reason? And some titles that were bolded in the original post are ALSO not displaying on mobile correctly. Idk what to do about that, but you can still look up the fic, I guess.
The Bat’s Crest - livierambles
Note: I will always keep recommending this fic. It’s epic, thrilling, and hilarious and sometimes angsty. Also, everyone is confused, including the ones doing the confusing. Maybe especially the ones doing the confusing. Also, some Tim and Damian bonding, which is always nice.
Summary: Tragedy strikes the hero community when Bruce Wayne commits a crime so heinous even the best start asking for blood. However, as the heroes try to recover from the hit and carry out justice for their friends, a random assortment of people start acting oddly, including the current Speedy Tim Drake, a child hostage in Gotham, and a young man from an unremarkable circus amongst others. All of them seem intent on saving Bruce Wayne from the grasp of the Justice League for no apparent reason, going as far as betraying their previous allegiances.
Unknown to the Justice League, these people are equally confused. Clearly they're stuck in another dimension, but how do they get back? How did they even get here? Who else is stuck in this world? And how long will Tim's patience last? Back home, the Bat was a planetary symbol that struck fear in the hearts of criminals. In this new world, it has no meaning, save for the handful of stranded souls.
In the Shadows - Kieron_ODuibhir
(shortened) Summary:
“I’m not like you.”
The cowl still looked like something he was wearing, but Clark knew it was not. It flexed like skin when Batman narrowed his blank white eyes and said, “I can see you know that.”
Chirp - AmariT
Summary: Every piece of the signal Tim unlocked revealed more locks, and by the time he broke through the last one, he was already mentally rehearsing his many upcoming talk show appearances. 'Yes,' he told the interviewer, 'it was difficult for me, a ten-year-old genius, to break open the worldwide alien conspiracy. That's why it took a whole hour.'
When the crackling audio started, he expected some weird alien language. Maybe squawks and high-pitched squeals mixed with musical woofs. Maybe they wouldn't talk at all, and images would beam directly into his mind. Maybe they'd talk in practiced English with a Midwestern drawl like their other resident alien.
Instead he heard a low, guttural voice growling out of his computer speakers. "Robin," it said. "Are you in position?"
A Better Cage - Mangaluva
Note: I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see a Young Justice Crossover with the Justice Lords (Earth-50) from the animated Justice League series, which is near and dear to my heart. I admit I haven’t really had much time to hunker down and read this, but even skimming, it’s an intriguing piece of work. Also, Justice Lords.
Summary: Wally's grateful to have woken up at all, really. He just doesn't know what to make of the world he's woken up in. At least they want to find a way to his world as much as he does, if not exactly for the same reasons...
Common People - AmariT
Note: The Bat boys are all Bruce’s blood sons, but it still feels very much like a found family. I haven’t really read everything in this series, but I feel the author has an amazing grip on all the characters. Lovely and heartwarming.
Summary: His whole life, Jason’s mom had told him his dad was Bruce Wayne, but he’d never been dumb enough to actually believe it. They lived in a rundown, one-room apartment in the worst part of town, and in every single picture he’d ever seen of that rich bastard he was wearing a suit or sipping champagne worth more than everything they’d ever owned.
But if he wasn’t Bruce Wayne’s kid, then what the hell was he doing sitting outside the man’s office in Wayne Towers?
Red Robin and the Hood - momoejaku
Note: Haven’t read this in a while, but it made an impression. Though it’s a fic set during the Red Robin arc, it very much is about both Tim and Jason. Plus, it fleshes out the Pru and Z a bit more, too.
Summary: Bruce Wayne is dead. Superman brought back his body, and the family mourned him, holding a quiet funeral in secret so that the legacy of Batman could live on. But not everyone has been able to put him to rest.
Reeling from the loss of Bruce, his identity as Robin and his trust in his family, Tim Drake sets out on a personal quest that will take him across the world to prove what he knows in his heart: that Bruce Wayne is alive.
Though intending to make his way alone, Tim reluctantly accepts help from his predecessor, Jason Todd, who knows from personal experience that death is not always as final as it seems.
Together, they are Red Robin and the Hood.
Liminal Spaces - Calamityjim
Note: Skimmed this only since I’ve been busy, BUT it does look well-written, and I’m always a sucker for alternate dimension/dimension travel intervention-type of fix-its. It’s a very specific trope.
Summary:
Bruce's habit of collecting strays is not limited by dimension.
Or
When Young Justice Batman comes across an angsty, seemingly abandoned by his Batman Tim Drake, he decides to step up to the plate and parent the crap out of him.
Little Bird’s Vengeance - KatHarkness-Katara
Note: Crossover with Avengers. Awesome fic with Tim and Jason and some Outsider POV (via the Avengers) of these dimensional stragglers. I think Tim’s team shows up in the later chapters, too. If you’re reading on mobile, it’s still very much worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version.
Summary: Why is life never simple? Red Robin's ended up worlds away from home once again, and now what's he to do? What do the Avengers want from him; do SHIELD have another agenda; and is there any way back? Pre-New 52. No slash. Rated for inevitable language/violent themes.
A Displaced Red Robin - dragonprincess1988
Note: Worth reading despite FF.net’s horrible format and abundance of advertisements in the mobile version. Well-written fic! EMOTIONS! I love them. Younger Dick Grayson is adorable, Tim is a competent fixer-upper for other people but not so much himself. He’s kind of angsty and making YJ Dick want to keep him (and YJ Bruce, too, if you read between the lines). On the plus side, seems like he’s making good friends with Young Justice Roy. This fic was written before certain episodes of YJ came out, though, and the fic reflects/will continue to reflect that. Still, I give it five stars.
Author’s Summary: Tim gets transported to the cartoon Young Justice world, and he's not sure he knows how to deal with it. Attention: If you want to know about Artemis or people from Tim's world the final note on my profile is for you. Also, a special thank you to angel-gidget over at Tumblr, who made the wonderful cover art for this story.
The Till-then From the Ever Since - Keiron O_Duibhir
Note: Fandom classic. Definitely a must-read for Batfam fans, in my humble opinion.
Summary: It began, or seemed to begin, with Jason.
Usually that would have meant something in the order of fire and explosion and probably at least one gunshot wound, but for once (as Tim said, sourly), it wasn't actually Jason's fault.
The Wayne Family Ghost - pupeez4eva
Note: Please read this. Especially if you’re sad or anxious or just have time. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s my go-to cheer-up fic. Absolutely hysterical.
Summary: In which Bruce realizes that having a legally dead son, who regularly hangs around the family, might be slightly problematic.
Bloodline - chibi_nightowl
Note: Complicated family dynamics, this time centering around Tim, Selina, Bruce and, surprisingly, Damian. Jason and Dick make an appearance as supportive big bros, too. It works. Take a read, it isn’t that long.
Summary:
“Mr. Drake, I can’t think of a better way to say this, so I’ll just be blunt. This file is for your first adoption. By the Drakes.”
Tim blinked. “My what?”
“You were adopted as a newborn by Jack and Janet Drake.”
“Excuse me, but what the fuck are you talking about?”
Talon!Tim AU Series by keeptogethernow
Note: Found family, from a different angle. Cool fic and well-written.
Summary of Tso’ape Mumbichi, first in the series: Ten years ago, two people made a deal with the devil--unlimited funds in exchange for their child. And now it's time to pay up. But there's no way to ensure that the child will cooperate.
Shutterbug Series by goldkirk
Note: Exactly what it says on the tin! Found family.
Summary:
Tim Drake is thirteen, runs the famous BatWatch blog that has spiraled hilariously out of control, has absentee parents that suit his purposes just fine, is training himself to run the streets at night, and is doing absolutely peachy, thank you.
Alfred and Jason disagree, and get Dick and Bruce involved in figuring out their weird next door neighbor kid’s life. Everything goes uphill from there.
Thursday’s Child - anthalogia
Note: Well-written and has found family and Tiny!Tim? Automatic win.
Summary:
He’s not the first child with nowhere else to go that Bruce Wayne has taken in. Dick Grayson was the first and the most high-profile – because no one would have thought Bruce Wayne was interested in ever raising a child, let alone the orphaned son of circus performers – but Jason was maybe just as much of a shock to society for being a street kid who came out of seemingly nowhere. Tim Drake is ordinary by comparison – his parents died in a plane accident. He can’t think of anything very special about him except that he met Bruce a few times when his parents hosted parties to keep in touch with Gotham society.
Or, tiny Tim Drake is adopted by the Waynes a little earlier than scheduled.
We’re Not Driving (How did we get here?) - TimTheToaster
Note: Short and sweet, a little angsty, and then very sweet.
Summary:
Tim stared at his phone, as if that would change what was on the screen.
Dick Grayson @FlyingDGrayson
It took some doing, and in some cases a little blackmail, but we've finally got the whole family together for a movie night! #WayneManor #movienight #familytime #schedulingisanightmare
15 minutes ago
Take It Back Now Y’all - TimTheToaster
Note: And Tiny!Jason has made his appearance. Also, Tim, I am begging you to please take care of yourself—ah, Bruce has made his appearance. Interesting. Also, I gotta say this author is good.
Summary:
There was absolutely no way this sunshine was from Gotham in April.
Not possible.
Which meant, Tim was no longer in Gotham, in April.
(In which Tim finds himself in the past, and tries to do the right thing. It's more complicated than he'd like.)
Takes a Little Time, Takes a Lotta Twine (To Get Us Back Together) - TimTheToaster
Note: Emotional Hurt/Comfort, beginning of reconciliation, and brotherhood. A satisfying, cathartic moment during the Red Robin arc to soothe your heart.
Summary:
Tim was in Gotham.
Tim had pretty specifically been avoiding thinking about Dick as much as possible for the last few weeks.
For the last year, really. No need to open that can of carnivorous worms.
Dick had other plans.
Everybody’s Heard (Bird is the Word) - TimTheToaster
Red Robin Era ANGST, but like, deliciously well-written. Also, protective Dad Bruce is always epic. Light bashing of Green Arrow and BC, though. But considering the situation (in this fic), kind of warranted.
Summary:
5 times Batman heard other heroes talking about his wayward brother,
And 1 time they were talking about his son.
A Choice to Make - scorbusfics
Note: fresh and interesting premise! Cool world building, too.
Summary: They have to choose. Dick and Bruce have to choose one person each to save, and one to disappear through the door.
“Send one of us,” Dick says fiercely, not for the first time. His face is dark and angry and desperate, eyes flicking from brother to brother. “Send one of us instead. I won’t choose.”
“Neither will I,” Bruce says.
But Tim knows.
Secret Places - RenaRoo
It’s ANGST, but the author knows how to use it well. Also, Jason’s line at the end killed me. Damn.
Summary: Tim Drake goes missing. The search to find him begins.

Stark Spangled Forever- Utter Nonsense Drabble... 40 Questions!
Tumblr media
Yeah so don’t ask me where this came  from, but I saw these floating around and for some reason decided it would be funny if Steve and Katie answered  some of them instead of me...
I think the original post was from @odaatlover  and I think I was taggeed by @sweater-daddiesdumbdork. Anyway, I took my favourite ones and this was the result...enjoy!
1. What’s one animal you wish you could have as a pet but can’t?
Katie: I’d kinda like a tiger. They’re so graceful and  pretty but pack a mean bite and you wouldn’t mess with one would you?
Steve: Who does that remind you of?
2. Favorite thing to wear to sleep?
Steve: (grinning) Nothing.
Katie : I can confirm that is also my favourite thing he sleeps in...
3. What song really gets you going?
Katie: In what way? If it’s to dance and just act like a crazy fool to then its always going to be “Back in Black” because it reminds me a lot of Tony and happy times growing up. But if its one to spark memories then its our wedding song.
Steve: “The Only One In Color” by Trapt. I also kinda like the John Legend song  “You and I” because it reminds me of her, you know, the bit aout trying on every damned out fit she ownes before we can go out.
Katie: I don’t do that.
Steve looks at Katie, eyebrow raising.
Katie: Ok, maybe I can be a little incecisive....but tha wasn’t really the point of the...you know what, never mind. Next...
4. Where do you usually eat your meals?
Steve: It depends. If its breakfast or lunch dring the week then it’s usual eaten on the go whilst we’re getting the kids sorted or I’m in between classes...but dinner, well we always try and sit down. And at weekends we always eat at the table with the kids.
5. Favorite meal: breakfast, lunch, or dinner?
Katie: Dinner. During the week Steve and I eat a little bit later than the kids so we have that time to ourselves just to decompress and talk about our day, have a bit of us time...and at weekend we’re al together so I love it.
Steve: I love it for all those reasons, and also because she’s the best damned cook on the planet.
6. Most embarrassing habit?
Katie: Erm...
Steve: It’s pretty embarassing when you throw a Brat tantrum about something.. Katie: I don’t do that in public.
Steve: Bullshit. I refer you to the whole car purchasing situation a few years ago.
Katie: Jamie was only a baby...I was hormonal.
Steve: Hormonal my ass, you were being a brat.
Katie:  Whatever.  Yours is definately the need to stand with your hands on your hips and give someone your Captain look, especially when it’s someone you have never met before but they just happen to be doing something to piss you off.
Steve:  I make no apologies for this.  People can be idiots.
7. Chocolate or fruity candy?
Both at same time: Chocolate.
Steve: Preferably British.  Cadbury’s to be specific. I got a taste for it when I was in London during the war.
Katie: He has a secret stash he hides from the kids...it’s great to blackmail him with.
8. Soft or hard tacos?
Steve: Soft
Katie: Hard
Steve: Although hard ones always remind me of when you went into labour with Jamie.  We were making them for lunch and you had a contraction and crushed one...
Katie: Oh yeah, maybe soft in that case...because that was painful.  And then I went throguh that another 3 times.Which is your fault.
Steve: I take full responsibility, yes.
9. Worst way to break up a fight?
Katie: Walk into the middle of it and say “Prove it, put the hamer down...” Steve: sighs, That was one time.
Katie: And it levelled a forest.
Steve: Did it work?
Katie: Hmmm, suppose so.
Steve: There you go ...but if its a fight between us, the I can think of the best way to break it up...
Katie : grinning, yeah...that’ s pretty funny. Or the worst one is telling you you’re in the spare room.
Steve: Yeah...that sucks.
10. Best thing to say in an elevator of strangers?
Katie: Putting on deep voice “Before we get started, does anyone wanna get out?”
Steve: Sighing  I wish I had some smart reply to that bu I don’t...
Katie: No, you just threw us out the side of the damned thing from 14 storeys up
Steve: 19
Katie: That’s...that’s not better Steve.
11. Any hidden talents?
Steve: Not so much hidden really but I’m not a bad artist and Katie’s singing and piano playing is off the scale.
Katie: Steve’s really good at DIY. Like, brilliantly good.  And also pretty savvy with technology all things considered...
Steve: When you say all things considered you mean because I’m like 112
Katie: Actually, you’re like 127 if you count the 15 years you spent back in time after putting the stones back.
Steve: hesitates I thought you said they didn’t count because I didn’t spend them with you.
Katie: They don’t, but they still happened.
12. Socks or bare feet around the house?
Steve: Socks
Katie: Bare feet
Steve: Neither of those protect you from standing on lego, which for the record, I reckon has to be a pain worse than chilbirth.
Katie:  Seriously? You’re going there?
Steve: Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration but it still hurts like hell.
13: Favorite board game?
Katie: Monopoly. Its funny to watch Emmy and Jamie getting really agitated and annoyed. The younger 3 don’t really get it, Rori just likes to help Steve by sorting all his money into piles and suggesting things he can spend it on.
Steve: Namely tutus and tap shoes...she still wants to be chorus girl.
14:Heat on or keep it cold with lots of layers?
Katie: Oh my God. Steve is a nightmare as he runs hotter than any of us, so whilst we want the fire or heat on he’s complaining he’s boiling hot all the time. Our bedroom is like an ice block.
Steve: Doll, I’ve been in an ice block. Trust me, our bedroom is like a furnace in comparison.
Katie: It si nice though, like sleeping with a big hot  water bottle.
15: At what age did you first have alcohol?
Katie: I’m sure Tony gave me beer when I was 15 or something but the first time I ever got drunk was aged 17. I went to a keg party at one of my friends and I was aboslutely shit faced. Tony held my hair back whilst i puked my guts upt for a good hour once I was home. I had the hangover to end all hangovers the next day and he cracked JARVIS up to maximum volume just to teach me a lesson.
Steve:  I think I was 18. Me and Buck drank a bottle of his dad’s home made hooch...yeah, it didn’t take me much to get me drunk back then and I was very, very illl. Ma thought I had a fever. Mr Barnes thought it was hilarious, but still gave us both a slap upside th head...
16. What’s the most amount of money you’ve spent on a single item of clothing?
Katie: I would say my wedding dress, but Tony bought that for me, so it would probably the the dress I wore to the  SIP Launch for The Color Of Revenge...that cost...well it was in the tens of thousands
Steve:  Blinking How much?
Katie: You don’t need to know.
17. What do you typically wear to formal events?
Steve: Whatever my gal tells me to.
Katie: And you always look great Soldier.
18. Favorite memory?
Steve: Oooh, other than when we adopted Emmy or the kids were born, I’d have to say when Katie agreed to be my wife. I’ll never forget that day as long as I live.
Katie: Me neither, not least becase I got my camero...
Steve: rolls eyes.
Katie:  Joking aside, yeah the engagement sticks in my mind but I think it was when you finally kissed me for the first time. I knew then that I was never gonna let you go.
Steve: yeah...that...ok you know what this is an impossible question after being together for so long.
19. Favorite shoes?
Katie: I have a pair of sparkly gold Jimmy Choo stilettoes that I’ve had for ages. They’re gorgeous, with ankle straps and pointed toes. I’ve had them for almost  17 years but they’re amazin.
Steve: grins. Yeah, they’re my favourite shoes too...
Katie: Pervert.
Steve: I’m not even gonna deny it. Those shoes ALWAYS stay on if I can help it.
20. Most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?
Both start to laugh hysterically.
Steve: Where do we start?
Katie: New York, Washington, Sokovia, Lagos, Leipzig, Siberia, Wakanda, Upstate and proablly a whole load of other places in between could be good places Stevie.
Steve: Yeah, this...I can’t answer this.
21. Most embarrassing thing your parents have caught you doing?
Katie: I was 7 when my parents died but taking Tony as surrogate, I reckon him catching us in the kitchen when we were...you know, and he didn’t actually know about us has got to be up there.
Steve: Yeah, that was pretty bad... although my Ma once caught me and Bucky measuring our... looks down.
Katie: splutters What? You never told me this?
Steve: Well its not exactly somethign that crops up in conersation sweethheart? “Oh by the way, once when we were 16 me and Buck compared sizes...” Katie: Blinks. Boys are strange. So who had the biggest...
Steve: Next question...
22. Last time you had an orgasm?
Both grin.
Steve: Last night
Katie: I can confrim this...there’s not many nights to be fair where we don’t...
23: Celebrity Crushes?
Katie: grins. Does Bucky Barnes count?
Steve: Fuck you.
24: Makeup or natural?
Katie: Normally I just wear a bit of tinted moisturiser and mascara, now I have the kids anyway. I don’t have time to really do my face in a morning. I’ll make the effort when we go out though...
Steve: You don’t need it honey.
Katie: Awww thanks baby.
Steve: Although that red lipstick you wear, the bright red..yeah...I like that... grins wickedly and winks It smears well...
Katie flushes: dirt bag
25. Favorite season?
Katie: Summer. Growing up in Malibu I like the sun and warmth.
Steve: Fall. It’s an artists dream...the colours and textures are amazing to work with
Katie: Fall is rubbish. Everything dies and it’s a bit shit.
Steve: But you make apple pie and get to snuggle in my sweaters.
Katie: literally the only 2 things good about it.
26. Are you a competitive person?
Katie snorts and looks at Steve
Steve: I’m not even going to deny it.
Katie: He even refuses to let the kids win a games sometimes.
Steve: Important life lessons, Doll.
27. First pet you’ve ever owned?
Katie: My goldfish Flounder, the one that Tony replaced about 8 times. Other than that it was my Turkey Marv, he was ace.
Steve: I didn’t have any growing up so mine would be Lucky. He was a great dog.
28. Favorite pasta dish?
Steve: Mac and Cheese, specifically Katie’s. It’s amazing.
Katie smiling: Yeah  I like Mac and Cheese, but I also enjoy carbonara.
29. Favorite kind of pizza?
Both: Pepperoni.
Steve: New York Style.
Katie: I like Deepdish every now and then.
Steve: It’s not the same...
Katie: well dur, that’s the point.
Steve: Yeah, not convinced.
30. Lots of acquaintances or a handful of close friends?
Katie: Handful of close friends, without a doubt. They become an extension of your family, you know. All of us in the Avengers were close and when you have that bond, you’ll do anything for one another.
Steve: Agree completely. When you’re close like we all are then it makes everything that little bit easier, knowing that whatever you’re facing you’ve got each others 6.
31: Something that ruins your appetite?
Katie: Narrows eyes Whenver I see Ross on Tv. Makes me want to puke.
Steve: You really should let that go you know?
Katie: Never. I hold a grudge very well.
Steve: Don’t I know it.
32. Night out with a bunch of friends in public or night in with one friend having deep conversations?
Steve: I’ve never been one for big nights out. I enjoy the odd one now and then but, I’d much rather curl up on the sofa or round the firepit with Katie or Sam or Bucky with a beer and some decent talk.
Katie: Yeah, at one time I would have said night out hands down, but certianly since having the kids, or even since we started dating, it’s definately change my ideas a little. Some of the nicest nights we’ve had have been spent on the sofa.
Steve grins: yeah...
Katie: And not just because of that....
33. Have you ever told someone you loved them first?
Steve: I’ve only ever told one girl I loved them and she’s sat right here, and I said it first that night...
Katie: smiling Yeah, yeah you did. I wasn’t far behind though, like 3 seconds or something.
34. Have you ever had sex on the first date?
Katie: Does a one night stand count as a first date? Because if so then yes...
Steve: Same.
Katie: Lottie?
Steve: Storm?
Both look at one another,  teasingly.
Katie: Ok next question...
35. Heroes or villains?
Steve: Some people might say there’s a fine line between the two. Katie: Oh here he goes, getting all Captain Philosophical again...look, everyone knows we were suposedly the heroes Steve, and to be fair we saved the world a fair few times, we were even fighting in the shadows during the Nomad years.
Steve: I know, I know...
36. How many plates can you eat at a buffet?
Steve: You know I’ve never actually counted.
Katie: You did 20 at the last brunch we went to.
Steve: 20...that’s...impressive.
Katie: smirking Bucky did 22
Steve: sighs Of course he did...
37: Favorite dessert?
Steve: Apple pie, preferably Katie’s
Katie: Pecan pie. Hands down.
38 Would you rather watch a TV show or a movie?
Steve: Ooh, that’s..i suppose it depends. I do like a good TV series, especially if we can curl up and binge watch once the kids are going to bed but I do have fond memories of us working through the films on my list...
Katie: smiling, yeah we had a lot of fun. Still
39. What’s your favorite compliment to give?
Steve: I love telling Katie how beautiful she is, and what a wonderful mother she is...all of which is true.
Katie: I like to remind Steve that he’s my Steve Rogers, not Captain America...because he is. And he’s the most amazing man on the planet, with or withouth that serum coursing through his veins. Which is what makes him the best dad the kids could wish for.
40. What’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to you?
Steve: smiling,  she’s sat right next to me.
Katie: smiling , back at ya soldier.

Survey #410
“oh baby, baby, does she take a piece of lime for the drink that i’ma buy her, do you know just what she likes?
Do you put candy canes on your Christmas tree? Ye. Have you ever written/drawn/painted random stuff on your bedroom wall? No. What do you currently hear? A slowed w/ reverb version of "If U Seek Amy" by Britney Spears. Yes, I have a serious thing for these edits of childhood songs, ha ha. Actually, no shame, I still love Britney lmao. What's your favorite flavor of Doritos? Cool Ranch. Do you like bagels? Yep. Do you ever worry about what the world will be like when you have kids? I ain't having any of those, so I don't have to worry about that. Have you ever seen a hippo in person? At a zoo, yes. Are you any good at HTML? Noooo. When was the last time you did something you knew was wrong? Recently, because I'm awful about downloading things illegally. What was the last thing you downloaded on your computer? A picture. Do you ever cry just to get your way? Hi, I'm 25. I at least have SOME adult traits. Have you ever been to any professional sports games? Yes. What's the most boring sport to watch? The only sport I enjoy watching is dance, so. I think golf has to take the cake for the absolute worst, though. Do you like lip rings on the opposite sex? UGH I just love lip rings on anybody. Do you have good or bad vision? Literally awful. Have you ever parked in a handicapped spot when you weren't supposed to? Hell no. That is so fucking inconsiderate and lazy. Have you ever been to a different country? No. When was the last time you finger-painted? Nooo idea. Probably not since I was a little kid. Do you say car-mel or car-A-mel? "Care-uh-mel." When you get out of the shower, do you use one or two towels? One. Are you uncomfortable with changing clothes in front of others? Absolutely yes. Hell, I don't think I ever really changed in front of Jason back in the day, so that says something about how self-conscious I was with a FIT body. Never mind this catastrophe I own now. Which is worse: Runny nose or stuffy nose? Both suck, but stuffy drives me absolutely INSANE. Who's been the most influential person in your life? My mom. Do you have any tan lines? Ha, yeah, no. How many different schools have you gone to? Six. Do you know how to slow dance? I mean, yes? It's not complicated. Have you ever taken The Impossible Quiz? (If not, you should Google it. :D) No, and I'll never waste my time doing that shit. I've watched people play and beat it, but it seems like such frustrating, pointless madness with zero rhyme or reason behind it. Has someone that you liked told you that you are a waste of their time? No. Who is the last person you were in a car with? Mom. In the next 6 months, what are you looking forward to most? Ummmm Christmas, maybe? That's always exciting. Is there anyone who hates you? Probably. Who were you with the last time you went out for food? Mom. If your boyfriend or girlfriend smoked pot, would you care? Eh... I guess if it was for medicinal purposes, I would be okay with it. I'm not keen on dating a smoker of anything. Do you want to start over with anyone? Just Jason, at least sometimes. It'd be really, really nice if we could be friends again and just forget about who we were all those years ago, but I genuinely doubt my ability to be "just friends" with him. Even though I haven't spoken to this dude in over FOUR YEARS, and I'm sure he's changed a lot, just like I have. We might not even be compatible anymore. As much as I may want it, I think it's probably for the better we remain unassociated. Do you eat the crust of your sandwiches? It's what I eat first. Are you completely over your last relationship? Not "completely," no. I still love her, but I'm in a headspace of accepting that now is not the right time with unfit conditions. What hoodie did you wear last? My Pikachu one, which is the one I pretty much always wear. Do you listen to Incubus? Probably surprisingly, no. I don't know if I've even heard a song. Do you wear flip-flops during the winter? More like always. Do you like the smell of Axe? If you don't use an obnoxious amount, yeah. What do you think of feminists? Absolutely necessary as pilots for change. HOWEVER, I do believe some can take the concept waaaay too far. Who was the last person to smoke a cigarette in your presence? Dad, probably. When was the last time you ate a cupcake? Oh my god, GUYS. It was my niece's birthday last month, and she did the CUTEST shit. She used to be very, very opposed to getting even slightly dirty (I mean like a speck of dirt on her would make her cry), and this kid decided to just C H O M P into her cupcake and get the frosting ALL over her face. She had two and got so messy, and that angel was just laughing hysterically about it. That girl is such a damn gift. Safe to say she was bouncing off the walls that night. Did you hug one of your parents today? No. Do you tan in the nude? I don't tan, period. Have you ever put a lot of thought and effort into a gift for somebody, only for them to act like it didn’t really matter to them? Oh god, no. That would really, really hurt, because I genuinely do try to be very thoughtful with my gifts. Do you follow the ‘five second rule’ when you drop food on the ground? NOOOOOOO. It's just a bullshit myth. I am NOT eating food that's been on the floor for a millisecond. If you had to describe yourself using a colour, which colour would you be? Maybe like... navy blue? Kinda dark and somber, but also has a calmness to it. Have you ever had to use another person’s toothbrush before? What were the circumstances? I WOULD FUCKING NEVER. Omg that is so gross. Have you ever crashed a car? No. Do you have a garden? Does it have flowers, vegetables, or both? No. Where do you want to raise your kids? I don't want kids, but if I did, absolutely surrounded by nature and animals. Have you ever been to Cracker Barrel? Yeah, I love it there. Damn, now I want some, lol. Have you ever seen a ghost? I sure as fuck saw something. As soon as you find out you are pregnant, who will you first tell? Who says I'm ever going to BE pregnant? 'Cuz it sure isn't in my plans. But hypothetically, the dad. Have you ever won a game of Minesweeper? Like ever? I've never played it. Who is your best guy friend(s)? Girt. I really should chat with him soon, it's been too long. If you had a tiny scar on your face, would you get it removed or just keep it? I'd keep it. Make me look more badass. ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ What is your hair naturally like? Brown and kinda-sorta wavy. Have you ever stared at a stranger and they said something to you about it? No; I don't stare at people. Is your father very protective of you? I wouldn't say "very protective," no. What would you do if your hero died? ffffffUCK THIS QUESTION HOW ABOUT NO HE'S NOT ALLOWED THAT'S VERY ILLEGAL Where was your first date at with your current lover? I don't have one currently. Are you friendly in the morning, or are you barely awake? Depends on how much sleep I got, but I'm generally in my best mood in the morning. Did your parents force you to go to church? Mom did. What made you pick up the last book you started reading? It was the next book in the series I'm reading, Wings of Fire. When was the last time you went somewhere for the first time? Hm. I dunno. Hypothetically and generally speaking, how would you go about breaking up with someone? Is there anything you would make sure to say, or perhaps not say? I mean it would really depend on WHY I was breaking up with them, but I guess in most situations I'd try to meet them face-to-face and explain why I wanted to cut things off. I think it'd be important for them to hear my tone of voice, and I think physically meeting somewhere would show that I care enough for them to cut time out of my day to see them and try to hurt them as least as possible, given the situation. What do you find particularly offensive? Would you say you’re easy or difficult to offend? DO NOT in even a minor way ridicule mental illness or belittle victims as "weak" or pull the "it's just in their head" bullshit. The misuse of the term "retard(ed)" also genuinely offends me. I wouldn't say I'm easy to offend, either. What was the last chore you completed? Changing my cat's litter. When was the last time someone saw you naked? It's been a loooong time, and it would've only been my mom when I was like, going into a shower or something. If you could bring someone back from the dead and spend an hour with them, who would it be and what would you do/say? Probably Steve Irwin. I'd go on and on about how his family has carried his legacy so brilliantly, and show him aaaaaall the public pictures of Bindi and Grace, especially. God, that man would be so proud of them all. What is the greatest lost you’ve endured? My first "real" boyfriend. How would you describe your current mood? A mix of tired and anxious. I don't feel like going to bed yet, and the storm we've got passing through has me nervous about tornadoes 'n shit. Do you ever drink or get high alone? I've had some light drinks alone. What is the “worst” drug you’ve done? Are there any you will never try, or any you want to try? I've never done any illicit drugs, and I don't want to. What is the most personal thing you’re willing to reveal? Probably that I've had a pilonidal cyst. It's awkward to explain, but I'll share it anyway if there's a good reason to/I'm asked or something. What made you stop talking to the last person you cut out of your life? Her just being the most toxic, drama-filled person with the biggest victim complex of any human I've ever met. Who was the last person to yell at you? Did you yell back? Mom, and my voice was raised. Where do you like to be kissed? This depends on how serious we are. Can go from just the cheek to a lot of places. Which season is your least favorite and why? Summer, because it's too goddamn hot and humid. Who, if anyone, do you compare yourself to most? Probably my little sister. She's on such a successful path, and then there's like... me lmao. Do you have a night-light in your bedroom? If so, what does it look like? No. What is your favorite breakfast food? How often do you get to eat it? Cinnamon rollssssss. I have 'em very rarely, though. I'll eat too many of them, which I definitely don't need. What is your favorite thing about autumn? What about your least favorite thing? AHHHHHH EVERYTHING. I love Halloween and the decorations that come with it, the changing leaves, the crisp air... just all of it. :') Who was the last person you asked for help? Mom, I'm sure.

FP//Sucker
Request: Can I request a FP/reader with the song Sucker by the Jonas Brothers, i have no ideas plot wise so whatever you think is best :D
When FP was younger he hated Sundays. Everybody else his age loved them. It meant they could lie in, have dinner cooked for them and spend their entire day with they’re friends.
But FP hated them.
For him, it was the worst day of the week to spend with his father, every other day was a nightmare with him too...but Sunday’s were the worst.
He’d usually spent the previous night drinking himself stupid, which meant he got abusive, which ended with FP either locking himself in his room, or being locked out of his trailer until Sunday morning. And his dad would be even more abusive because he was suffering from a hangover, or he would still be drunk.
Basically Sundays were the worst.
Until he met you.
Now, FP loved Sundays. Especially Sunday mornings. He gets to wake up with the love of his life lying in his arms sleeping peacefully while the mid-morning sun streams in through the curtains. And even though he’s in the same trailer as when he was a boy, there’s an entirely new atmosphere. It’s happy and light, something it hasn’t been in a very long time and all of that is because of you.
Today is no different. Jughead is sleeping at Archie’s (Betty’s) and he won’t be back until at least the late afternoon, meaning he had all day to just be with you and enjoy your company.
10:14am, the sunlight streaming through the curtains in his room eventually pulls him from his sleep (well that and the sound of his neighbours shouting at each other) but he’s happy to be awake because it means he gets to see your pretty face.
He turns over in bed and a sleepy smile makes its way onto his face as he watches you sleep. The sheets have fallen down your body exposing your back to the cool December air, and the sunlight is falling over you making you look so soft and gentle. He pulls the duvet over you before shuffling closer, pushing a piece of hair from your face.
You stir slightly before opening an eye. FP’s already staring at you, a soft look on his face and you send him a warm but sleepy smile before opening your eyes fully.
“Morning.” You mumble, your voice is groggy and filled with sleep but FP finds it adorable. He’s never going to get sick of waking up to you and that thought makes a dopey grin take over his appearance. “Whats got you smiling like an idiot?” You ask and he chuckles before pulling you into his chest. You sigh contently as his arms wrap around your body and you snuggle further into his chest.
“You.” He replies making you smile.
“What about me?”
“You make me smile like an idiot.” He says and you giggle.
“Well, I’m glad I have that affect on you.”
“You’re always going to have that affect on me.”
“Awwww.” You tease and a blush spreads over his cheeks. He’s so glad you can’t see him right now otherwise he would never hear the end of how you made him, a forty something year old man, blush.
“You’re my favourite person you know?” He asks as his fingers brush through your hair.
“I know. You tell me everyday.” You reply and he nods.
“Good. You deserve to know.”
“But you do know that you have children. Shouldn’t they be your favourite people?” You ask sarcastically and you can feel him rolling his eyes.
“I know. But they’re my favourite children. You’re my favourite person.”
“Oh, right.” You reply like he’s just said the most obvious thing in the world. “The next time I see Jughead I’m going to tell him.”
“Its fine. He already knows.” He shrugs and the two of you chuckle.
“Did you tell him?” You ask.
“No.” He shakes his head and your eyebrows furrow. “You did.”
“When?”
“Remember when we went to the Wyrm and you got so drunk.”
“Errrr.” You think about it for a minute before shaking your head.
“Yeah, that doesn’t surprise me.” He replies. “You were so drunk.” He laughs. “You stumbled out of the bar, while leaning on me, and then you ran, well stumbled away from me down a dark street. I thought were were in some shitty horror movie but I followed you anyway. And when I found you, you were stood on top of some random car doing the Macarena.” He’s laughing hysterically now and you’ve crossed your arms, moving out of his grip. “It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Anyway. So I managed to get you back to mine, after half an hour of persuading you to get off the car and talking you out of getting a tattoo of a brain with my name in it because, and I quote ‘you’re just in my brain all the time’.” He imitates your voice and you look at him annoyed.
“I don’t sound like that.”
“I don’t sound like that.” He mocks and you shove his chest making his chuckle.
“I hate you.”
“And I love you.” He replies and you shake your head, but there’s a soft smile playing on your lips that doesn’t show any sign of going away. “So I got you home and put you in bed. I literally left you for a minute to get you some water and pain killers and I came back and you were in Jughead’s room, sitting on the end of his bed like some weird goblin-”
“Hey!”
“A cute goblin.” He corrects himself, pressing a kiss to your nose and you roll your eyes but let him off anyway. “You wake him up and just go ‘you know that I’m your dads favourite person right?’ and he just sighs and says ‘yeah, I know. please leave’. And then I eventually dragged you back to bed and you fell asleep on top of the covers.”
“Oh. Well, at least he knows.” You shrug and he nods.
“Come here.” He says before grabbing you and pulling you close to him.
“Is it me or is it really warm in here?” You ask, throwing the blanket off you and moving so you can look at him. Your fingers trace over his jaw before falling to his chest.
“Its you.” He replies.
“What?” You reply confused and he rolls his eyes like you’ve just said the stupidest thing in the world.
“When you’re around, I feel heat in December. If you get what I mean.” He winks at you and rolls the two of you over so he’s hovering over you.
“Oh really?” You raise an eyebrow and he nods slowly before capturing your lips with his.
“You’re one of the best things thats ever happened to me. You know that right?”
“I do.” You nod and kiss him again.
“You’ve literally changed my entire life. I’m a sucker for you.”
“Awww.” You smile and pinch his cheek. “I’m a sucker for you too.” You reply. “Now how about I suck something for you?” You ask, your eyes flickering down making him gulp.
“Yeah, okay.” He nods.
Sunday mornings really are the best.
