first ever procreate painting!!!

#my art #monstera #i hated procreate up until i finished this... it's not AS bad as i thought but i wish it were more intuitive #so many menus... and scrolling through 1 million brushes to find one is like hell on earth #the color picker and undo is wayyyy too slow too #i need that shit to pop up immediately in the middle of screen #the amount of times i color pick in 10 seconds is really high so the slow color picker just made me annoyed more than anything #also why would they not have a triangle color picker option...#what's wrong with you...#half the brushes feel like syrupy???? like they're slower than my pen and i can't use them to make scribbles it annoys the hell out of me #not being able to move the brush size and opacity bars to the top of the screen is also so fucking annoying #the amount of times my arm would mess with the size of the brush.......#ugh #what IS nice about the menus tho is because idk where everything is i just get to random choose a ton of brushes to use to get many effects #i liked that but i also like having 1 brush i use for sketching and not being able to find it in the sea of brushes #was NOT fun at all #and that was my review of procreate

2023 Art Summary 🖼️

I really like making these intentionally simple art memes as difficult as I can for myself, huh? 🫠

I think I improved my art a lot in 2023. I did a lot of full illustrations and that really forced me to get a better understanding of colour and light. I learned how to make reels and only had a few meltdowns while trying to figure out what I was doing 😅. I plan to keep experimenting with them in the future so hopefully one day I'll figure it out. My Ghosts fanart from March quickly became my most popular drawing of the year, and I even placed second in an art contest with my November drawing! Who would've thought? 🥈

I also got to use my art to connect with my friends a bit more this year. It helped strengthen some old friendships and I'd like to think that it's helped start some new ones too 🥰

I'd love to know what your favourite drawing of mine from this year was. Thank you so much to everyone who's stuck around this year. Your likes and sweet comments haven't gone unnoticed ❤️

What kind of tablet and app do you use or recommend for digital art?

personally i use Procreate on an ipad, like the vanilla bitch i am! it Is a good program, but i've previously used & been happy with Medibang, i've heard good things about Krita and Clip Studio.

as for tablets, i started out with a Huion pen tablet! that one worked pretty damn well once i got used to watching a screen instead of my hand as i drew! it's a pretty decent brand, but there are tons of others that are Not Half Bad too

but really, you can make anything work! there are a lot of different options out there - a good way to find Your Best Fit is looking up programs/tablets, reading reviews, comparing and contrasting to see what appeals to You!

#like my first program was autodesk sketchbook on my phone #and that worked for me for a While! i even continued using autodesk when i got my huion #then i used medibang for a spell before i was gifted the ipad for my... eighteenth maybe? or was it graduation... dont remember #but yeah and procreate i think Is worth it #like i hate apple (the company. love the fruit) but daaaaamn procreate #all i can say really is Dont do photoshop #some people will say 'oh get photoshop' Its Not Worth It #its expensive and complicated and other programs do the same thing Cheaper and Easier #the only thing i can actively complain about procreate is a lot of the features are hidden #there's no immediately accessible guide #ive been using it for the past hmmmm 3 years i think?#and i JUST discovered a new function last week #and theres definitely more #the program with the second-most-glowing reviews ive heard of is clip studio paint #but krita sounds mighty fine too!#rambles from the bog #hope this helps!!!

“Rack, Shack & Benny Re-Molded”

I’ve recently watched the remaster of the classic episode of VeggieTales: Rack, Shack & Benny and it was freaking amazing! Everyone who did this project did a marvelous job of modernizing this popular VeggieTales episode. The animation was beautiful, and the way they did their music rather than just using the original music was great, the redesign of the setting of the factory & the outfits looks great. Overall, this was a great way to celebrate VeggieTales’s 30th Anniversary & Phil Visher with the other original crew probably saw this and I bet they're all proud of this. If you haven't seen this yet, I highly recommend you watch it especially if you're a big fan of this franchise!
