Batman: "I'm sorry, d'you want me to be serious here or—?"

Jason: (in disbelief) "YES, Bruce! I want you to be serious right now! If he had done what he did to me to you, I would've done nothing but search the earth for this pile of death-worshipping garbage!"

Joker: "I love you too, Sugar Plum."

Batman: (holds hands up) "Okay, yeah, I get that, totally, I get that. Um. Have you tried?"

Jason: "Excuse you?"

Batman: "Have you tried to kill him yet?"

Jason: (to Joker) "Is he being serious?"

Joker: (also confused) "I'm gonna be honest with you, Junior. I don't know."

Jason: "Got it. Great." (turns back to Batman) "What the fuck does THAT mean?"

Batman: "Okay, so no, you haven't. Cool. Do it."

Jason:

Jason: (lowers gun) "What."

Batman: "Do it, cap his ass. Shoot him."

Joker: (finally rattled) "I'm gonna go with Junior here, and say...what??"

Jason: "You want me to shoot him?"

Batman: "I want someone to shoot him! Give me the gun, I'll do it!"

Jason: (mutters, brain blue screening) "What is going on right now? This should a lot harder than it is."

Batman: "C'mon, son! You decapitated like eleven people three days ago! Fuckin' do it!"

Joker: (turns to Jason quizzically) "This has gotta be some sort of test, ri—"

(BANG! Jason fires. Joker lands on the floor lifeless, eyes still open.)

Jason: "There, you happy? Jesus. Was that so hard? All of this time and it was THAT easy!"

Jason: "What the fuck is that supposed to—" (looks down at floor where the Joker was lying)

Batman: "I don't know what you're talking about 'easy'. There's nothing there." (nods at floor)

Floor: (is devoid of Joker)

Jason: (stares)

Floor: (continues to be sans anything but carpet)

Jason: "What the fuck?"

Batman: "Yeah."

Jason: "WHAT THE FUCK?"

Batman: "Take as long as you need with this."

Jason: (looking around frantically) "I just shot him! He hit the floor! What the f—" (turns back to the floor)

Floor: (is just vibin')

Jason: "Where the fuck did he go??"

Batman: "See that shit? That shit right there happens every fucking time!"

Jason: "There's not even a blood stain! It's just gone!"

Batman: "Yeah, like two days after you died, I chased him into a helicopter where he got shot like six times. The helicopter exploded and crashed into the ocean. And his body was gone before Superman could find it."

Jason: "Oh my God. I don't understand how this is even fucking possible!"

Batman: "He's like a cryptid! I don't fucking get it!"

Joker: (disembodied laughter) "AHAHAHAHA HAHAHA!"

Jason: (freaked out, turning in circles trying to find him) "Oh my God!"

Batman: "THAT OMINOUS SHIT HAPPENS TOO! I DON'T KNOW, DUDE!"

Jason: "Dude. Fuck whatever's going on here, that's some fucking bullshit."

Batman: "Thank you! Finally someone gets it!"

#tloz #princess zelda #link #assumedly?#botw #totk #technically #loz redesigns round 2 #the first great calamity #the ancient heroes aspect #the ancient hero’s aspect #art #my art #redesign #listen this is probably the one and only time ill draw something furry so if it looks a bit wonky i dont really care lmao #this is one of the few designs where im Under designing one of the characters #ie the heroes aspect is such a messy design #i went of the mural a little bit more for the coloring so a little more orangey red involved in his design #and also changing his face to look a little less offputting #and the greener looking eyes from the mural #the darker fur also helps the teal pop #but yes i made his armor a little less zonai-y and a tad more guardian inspired?#i didnt take away all the zonai vibes because he’s seemingly related to them somehow #i do wish we had a timeline for how long after rauru sealed ganon that this calamity happened #but oh well #but yeah uh zelda #vaguely based on sonia #thats pretty much all i have to say about her lmao #i used more neutrals on her dress to semi emulate the pure white of the mural #while also bringing in more of those sheikah tech colors

Maybe it's the eternally distrustful loveless child in me but idk something about the way DC has been writing familial relationships in recent years rings so false to me. There's no room for the complex, nuanced, unnamed relationships Batman and Nightwing used to have, nothing like the warped mother-daughter-sister thing Barbara Gordon and Cass Cain had, nothing like Superboy's weird obsessive hero worship/bone-deep dread of his clone fathers or Max Mercury's weary undefined protectiveness of Bart or Wonder Woman's dogged loyalty to her little "sisters". Cause — for me, at least, I know I actively seek little moments of connection in stories; when I write or when I read it is to seek comfort. I think that's why DC has made this shift. Readers like me gravitated to those little warm moments, and DC noticed that we did without stopping to think about why.

But there's a point at which I notice diminishing returns of comfort from fluffy writing — it ceases to register as real. It's too good, too saccharine, too empty of any of the pain and frustration it takes to express genuine love for the other person. It's all hand-holding and no sweaty palms. It's so easy for someone to say they love you. It's so easy to see when it's all just words. And part of this is, yeah, bad writing; all that stuff about show not tell. They're trying to tell us these characters care about each other without giving us any real proof. but. idk. I need my love to be real. I need to feel the bones behind each embrace. I can't accept affection without struggling my way into it. Honestly I'd rather get a grim gritty Batman who forgets he HAS kids until they throw themselves into the line of fire than a milquetoast helicopter Batdad who tells his kids exactly what they mean to him without actively being in a state of bleeding out.

#idk don't listen to me i haven't read any comics closely since they killed alfred #but what i see in screenshots makes me. incredibly dissatisfied #maybe love is all about the striving!!!! maybe it's about the blood under your nails as you claw your way back to your beloved!!!!!#maybe it's hugging your dad and all you can think about is how stiff and unwieldy it is around the body armor and utility belts #y'know #and i DO enjoy wayne family adventures. it can be nice. but yeah i can tell that i would not endure it if that was all i had to read #dc #oli rambles

#dragon age the veilguard #dragon age fanart #lucanis dellamorte #andarateia cantori #viago de riva #illario dellamorte #rook de riva #rook datv #Marisol de Riva #i saw a post once upon a time that mentioned Viago was probably appalled by the mercenary rags Rook was wearing lol and kept that head cano #another scene from the fanfic i have in my head lmao #in my HC story for Marisol the recruitment missions go a little different to kind of take away the game-ified aspect #once in the lighthouse Marisol reaches out to Viago (though lol she does wait for a bit because she got kicked out so she's still upset)#Caterina has been keeping her people watching the Ossuary for any changes because she's been slowly connecting the pieces over the past yea #solas's ritual and other stuff happens and the location gets revealed and weakened etc #rook gets in contact with a letter and a candelhop for viago to use to contact her #bc that's how i'm hc'ing that they get messages in the fade lolol #Caterina approaches Viago with a coded contract packet to send to Rook and the contract is basically to breach the Ossuary #and rescue an imprisoned Crow (Rook is unaware Lucanis is “dead” since she was gone and the contract keeps it vague)#but there's the implication it's someone important since Caterina wants to stage a rescue #the packet with info on the Ossuary also ties the operations happening there with the red lyrium artifacts they've been hunting in Minratho #and the appearance of abominations that aren't like any they've encountered before #so going to the Ossuary ALSO is important to the 'stop the Old Gods' plot #BUT ANYWAY that's why this comic reads like she's just seen Viago again despite having Lucanis with her #and also Lucanis was dirty and naked etc in the Ossuary got temp armor and clothes from an inn keep once they escaped #Illario ALSO moved his plan to attack the Diamond after Zara accidentally let it slip that Lucanis was still alive #he'd been fully operating under the assumption that Lucanis was dead for the past year and was plotting to like...#try to stage things to gain favor with Caterina because she still wasn't budging #but then he overhears Zara yelling at Calivan in a magic mirror or some shit that the Ossuary is being breached and Lucanis has escaped #so Illario panicks and directs the venatori attack on the Diamond and kidnaps Caterina so he can have JSUT A LITTLE LONGER to figure it out
