marauders era girls are just so underrated man.

lily is just smart and perfect, either james' gf or jegulus' enemy. as jegulus popped up, marylily/marlily got more popular too. almost as if people think the girls should always be paired off...

mary is just a popular girl (who's shipped with marlene or lily)

marlene is girl sirius, shipped with mary or dorcas.

dorcas: slytherin girl.

pandora: evan's spacey twin sister.

"oh but theyre based on like 3 lines the boys have more based off them" what about the skittles boys? they also have little mention in the books, yet barty and evan have so much content about them and their trauma or friendships w the other skittles. they have a more defined personality than the girls despite having been in the fandom for less time.

like im not being anti ship here. but nobody creates content about the girls' friendships. when you see them it's always shipping (with one of the guys or with each other) or friendships with the guys (lily and remus, marlene and sirius, pandora and evan)

this indicates that a LOT of people in this fandom only think the girls have a place/value in a romantic relationship............ idk guys

I feel like one of the most problematic thing about the marauders fandom is making characters bi/pan and then just shipping them with the same gender. Like, there are so many characters like James/Lily/Remus/Barty/Dorcas/Mary etc who are headcannoned as Bi/Pan only to put them in a homosexual relationship. Yes, being Bi/pan means attraction to 2 or more/All genders respectively, but those genders also include the OPPOSITE gender.

Whats the point of making charecters Bi or Pan if their opposite sex attraction isn't even recognized. Thats just making them gay or lesbian and then claiming they are Bi or Pan for brownie points.

Example: I am pan myself and I love Pansexual James, but pansexuals can be attracted to the opposite genders, so James can just be with Lily and be Pan at the same time🙃

No need to put him in a relationship with a dude to prove he is pan

I’m so tired of wlw background ships in mlm fandoms.

mlm shippers almost never develop wlw ships to the degree that the audience feels invested in them. The conflict and character development and love story rely on tropes rather than actual narratives, yet fandoms act like they’re doing wlws a favour by shoehorning in this shitty “representation” when it’s just golden retriever x black cat over and over and over again in different fonts.

To be clear I don’t blame anyone for not having big wlw ships, because most major media out there do not have two fully fledged female characters you can ship together. If you want to write mlm ships, good for you! If you want a lazy wlw ship in the background, that’s fine! But don’t act as if the fandom actually cares about them, or that anyone did the legwork to make them characters that you can care about. Most of these female characters are never properly developed in the canon source material, and they’re almost never properly developed in the fanon material either. You can always tell by how these women are like, one archetype + gay (sporty gay, feisty gay, slutty gay etc, like some kind of gay Spice Girls). Yet fandoms just love to act like these background wlws mean so much & have the best love stories & everyone just should ship them. It’s all so performative.

wlws are not an aesthetic. wlws are not 2D happy couples to round out your queer utopia, a queer utopia that somehow still manages to foreground men. Women are always treated as 2D characters in narratives, except now there’s a subgenre where these 2D women are gay. Groundbreaking.

We talk about how much James loved but we rarely talk about how much Lily loved.

Lily loved Snape, contrary to popular belief from both marauders stans and Snape stans, maybe not romantically but she still loved him, Lily loved Snape the way James loved Peter, Lily loved Snape and their falling out has never been talked about enough.

Harry Potter survived because Lily Evans Potter loved. Hundreds of thousands lived because Lily loved Harry.

over the summer of third year Lily had gotten braces, and had to leave once a month to go the dentist. Every time she came back with a different colour on her teeth, Mary was the first and only person who noticed and complimented her. (Again yes this is because I have braces) 

They were the kind of people who talked about anything and everything just to bond together. They would not STOP talking about something passionate to them. Once they spent a whole 12 hours discussing feminism and the effects of white feminism 

Lily always wore a gold heart necklace made of pearls and Mary always wore a silver chain necklace with stars. Mary was a gold girlie and Lily a silver girlie, but they always wore those bc they loved each other <3

THEY HAD THE FUCKING WEIRDEST HALLOWEEN COSTUMES ISTG. Like they always matched together but it would be insane random shit. Once Mary was a shark and Lily a half bitten human, emphasis on the BITE wound

Mary was scared of the dark, so whenever they cuddled she had a little night light and Lily had to wear 2 sleeping eye masks to sleep properly (eventually Mary got over it lol cause she was with Lily) 

Mary’s patronus was a moth and Lily’s was a butterfly. Nobody shut up about it for a long long time

They had an open concept flat but it was filled to the BRIM with little trinkets and everything they could find. Every little drawing Harry had drawn of their little family was hung up on the ‘Harry Wall’

its true that i prefer jily platonically (because pandamarylily solos) but that doesnt excuse hating on a wonderful character AND a wonderful pairing.

if you hate on a female character because she "ruins" your mlm pairing then theres something wrong with you, you're either very stupid or you're fetishizing said pairing.
