Heartbreak in Overdrive Part 7

Hello! I'm grateful to everyone who liked, commented and reblogged the last chapter! Thanks so much!

In this we have more of the shoot and Eddie is overwhelmed by how they all treat him. Also a wild Jeff appears.

Eddie hurried to his dressing room to see what the next outfit was. He was happy to see Ellie waiting for him.

She had a couple of different shirts out, but there was a pair of grey jeans and pair of boots that matched.

She held up the first shirt. “The goal is to have you wear slightly less with each change, so with this you’ll just be wearing a billowy button up shirt. I picked a soft cotton and even softer linen to see what would work out best.”

Eddie stared at the shirts for a moment. Both were a dove grey. He reached out to rub the sleeve between his two fingers. It was so soft. “If that’s the cotton, the linen must be luxurious indeed.”

She picked up the other shirt and handed it to him. The moment Eddie touched it he knew that was the one he was wearing.

“Holy shit, that’s soft,” he breathed.

“It’s lovely isn’t it?” Ellie said with grin. “I think I prefer the style of it better than the cotton anyway so we’ll do that one.” She patted him on the shoulder on her way out. “I’ll be out here if you need anything.”

Eddie nodded, but as soon as she closed the door, tears sprung to his eyes. He had looked through the clothes before when he was putting on the first outfit and there wasn’t a single woolen object anywhere. All the clothes were a different genre of metal and fuck, he wanted to steal all of them.

Other photographers and brands seemed to go with the old adage that beauty was pain, but here was Steve Harrington, new to the business and standing out there with a sword and shield in front of a line in the sand, saying this far and no further.

Like it was a breath of fresh air.

He quickly got dressed, grateful that there was nothing he had to pull over his head and mess up with the makeup still on his face.

Once he was changed, he knocked on the door and instantly Max was slipping through the doorway with a grin. God, he was enamored with every single one of these ladies. It was so pathetic how desperate he was for a human connection.

Max completely undid all the previous work and got to working making it to look artfully tussled.

Which surprised Eddie. “Wouldn’t it had been easier to just pull strands of hair out a little bit from style already in place?”

Max grinned. “If I wanted it to look the previous style had come undone, sure. But that’s not quite what I was going for. Just wait.”

And so Eddie did and when she was done, he was impressed. It looked like it was the spiritual successor to the previous style, but in a very artful way.

“Wow.”

Max grin turned into a shy dimpled smile. “Most models don’t even notice the hair and makeup when its done. It’s just part of the job. Like the way an actor would learn their lines. But you actually compliment us and that’s special I think.”

Eddie blushed, ducking his head. “I like it when people know your stuff and take pride in it. That’s why I insist on Vickie to do my hair and makeup because I know going in that she will do the best job. But you and Robin and Ellie all take such pride in your work. I love it.”

Max shoved his shoulder. “Shut up, you’re going to make me cry!”

Eddie grinned, but said nothing when Max turned to hide her wiping her eyes. She left quietly and soon Robin came in to do his makeup.

“You ready for your next look?” she asked with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Eddie nodded and closed his eyes to let her to her work. He opened them only when she told him to, completely trusting her to do her job.

When she was done, she whirled him around to view it in the mirror. It was more like the glam rock of the 80s, but it was also high fashion. He loved it.

“Brilliant!” he breathed. “Now to do my job with the wonderful tools you’ve provided me.”

“Flatterer!”

They finished the first day with three of the looks and Eddie was just as impressed the last time as he was the first. The clothes were perfect in their fit and soft in their texture as if everything was designed to be as comfortable for him as possible.

Max and Robin were consummate professionals and masters of their craft. He had been joking this morning when he said that he wanted to keep all of them after the shoot, but now he really, really wanted to.

So the first thing he did when he got to the hotel, he called his best friend.

“Hey, man,” Jeff said. “You enjoying the shoot? You said it was some new guy?”

“Yeah, Steve Harrington,” Eddie groused. “He could be a model himself, he’s that gorgeous.”

“Okay, so this one of those calls,” Jeff huffed with a tinge of amusement in his voice. “Let me grab a beer and get comfortable then.”

Eddie snorted, but wisely said nothing. Because yeah, it was going to be one of those talks. The talks in which Eddie bitched about a beautiful boy and Jeff listened to every word.

“So this Steve Harrington is pretty hot, huh?” Jeff asked as soon as he was comfortable.

“So, so hot, Jeffy,” Eddie wailed. “And worse, he’s kind and he’s sweet.”

“Uh oh,” Jeff teased, “so he’s ticking all the boxes for you?”

Eddie rolled onto his stomach, propped up on his elbows. “Yeah, and he’s a fucking good photographer. I don’t think I found a single thing that upset me today. In fact they should have been pissed at me for doing the whole ‘showing up late with a mostly finished latte’ routine, but they were super chill.”

“They?” Jeff asked, confused. Then he snapped his fingers. “That’s right the label made you ditch Vickie and Chrissy for this shoot. So his people were nice, but were they good?”

“Fuck, dude,” Eddie swore, rolling onto his back with a sigh. “So good. Like remember that time the stylist accidentally left that pin in one of the shirts and it irritated so bad I almost bled?”

“Oof!” Jeff said, “Yeah, I do. I still think you should have sued over that one. You could have gotten seriously hurt with that pin.”

“I think Steve must have heard about it too,” Eddie whispered, “because all the clothes were so soft, Jeffy. Like there were silks and cottons and actual fucking linen. All of it designed to be as comfortable as possible. Who even does that, man?”

“Steve Harrington, I guess,” Jeff agreed. “So he has hair, makeup, and clothes people instead of combining them like most people do?”

“Yeah,” Eddie said, suddenly sitting up. “Robin, Max, and Ellie. All fiercely independent woman who are all fiercely loyal to Steve.”

There was silence on the line for a beat. “Well shit. That’s rare in any industry, even less in the fashion world.”

“I know,” Eddie sighed, drawing his leg up under him. “He actually made me laugh.” Then he went on to describe the chair event. “Like he said had stole the leather chair from his dad.”

“So you’ve streaked past smitten all the way to enamored, huh?” Jeff said gently with a more than a hint of amusement in voice. “He’s hot, funny, kind, and sweet. Like he would have to be a metalhead nerd to fulfill your fantasy perfect partner.”

“Thankfully he’s not either of those things,” Eddie said with a breath of relief. “He’s former rich kid, popular jock who is still living off his grandparents’ trust fund they set up for him when he turn eighteen.”

Jeff burst out laughing. “Well that’s something then. Just how old is nepo baby?”

“That’s just it, he’s not,” Eddie said in awe. “He used to be a war photographer for Nat fucking Geo. Like he doesn’t have to work, but he loves photography and got into this because he had to leave the magazine.”

“Wait, hold on,” Jeff said, “I want to check something.” Eddie could hear him fumbling around on his phone. “Holy shit, Ed. I’m sending you a fucking Wikipedia link. Dude just isn’t good. He’s fuck me levels of good.”

Eddie frowned. There weren’t many photographers who had their own Wiki and even those were like super famous to start with. The first photo to come up on the side bar was the two little Egyptian kids and it blew him away. He had seen some of his photos when he researched him prior to the shoot, but the Wiki was a fucking gold mine.

“God, Jeff,” he breathed when he got the part of his kidnapping. “That was horrific. He’s lucky to be alive.”

“Yeah,” Jeff agreed. “I’ve been looking up all his published photos and God damn I can see why he’s well sought after.”

“And why Ravenscroft was willing to give into his every demand,” Eddie said thoughtfully. “If I had an award winning photographer wanting to break into fashion, I’d be throwing money at this dude’s feet, too.”

“So how long you going to be out there?” Jeff asked after a moment or two of silence. “I think Chrissy was saying at least two days.”

“Yeah, pretty much,” Eddie confirmed. “Though Steve was going to ask for an extension so he could get all the shots he wanted. So I hope longer. The theme for this shoot is amazing.”

They talked for awhile longer before they hung up and Eddie laid back down on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.

He needed to step up the flirting. Steve might have caught him off guard today, but tomorrow, it was going be Eddie’s game.

Maybe if he flirted with Steve he might get him to actually break that good guy persona and flirt back. Because this guy had to have a weakness, right?

He was absolutely unflappable but Eddie would find the chink in the armor. Hell, if Smaug had one, then so must Steve Harrington.

He had to otherwise he was in very real danger of falling in love with this guy and that cannot do.

Eddie arrived on time with coffee for everyone and dozen of his favorite donuts.

“Ha!” Max huffed with a laugh. “Dustin owes me money!”

Robin and Ellie high fived her and congratulated her as Steve shook his head.

He turned to Steve. “Who’s Dustin?”

“One of my assistants,” Steve explained, and then took a bite out of a maple bar, causing Eddie’s mouth to go dry. “He thought for sure you would be late every day of the shoot. But Max was sure that once you met everyone you’d warm up to us.” He waved his hand at Max, who was grinning from ear to ear. “Clearly he should know better than to bet against Max. Especially when there is money on the line.”

“Duly noted,” Eddie said, bow his head to Max. “I’ll put it up there with things not to do under land wars in Asia and going up against a Sicilian when death is on the line.”

“Inconceivable!” Robin crowed.

“You keep using that word,” Ellie said with a smile, “I do not think it means what you think it means.”

Eddie pumped his fist when he realized he was surrounded by nerds. “Yes!”

They enjoyed their goodies and coffee and when they were done Steve reached over and wiped a bit of cream filling off Eddie’s lip.

“Once you’re done here,” Steve said softly, “go get ready. We’ve got a long day ahead of us, and I have a lot great stuff for you.”

Yesterday would have had Eddie stammering and blushing to his roots, but instead he turned on his most winning smile. “You’ve got it, pretty boy.”

Steve blushed a deep red and ducked his head. “Right, um, I’ll be right out in the studio if you need me.”

Robin snorted and shook her head. “I haven’t seen him move that fast since Afghanistan. Those jock skills must have not atrophied since high school.”

“Basketball and swimming, right?” Eddie said with a snap of his fingers.

“Someone’s read the Wiki,” Max said rolling her eyes. “But yeah. He apparently did a little baseball too if the stories are true.”

Robin smacked her arm. “They’re true! I’ve photographic proof. I watched him teach little Congolese children how to play.” She dug out her purse and pulled out her phone. After searching for a moment or two she flipped it over to show everyone.

And sure enough, there was Steve surrounded by children on what was clearly a makeshift pitcher’s mound.

“So a real sporty type,” Eddie said with a smile. “Cute.”

Ellie got to her feet and threw her cup away. “I’m going to set out the next outfit for Eddie.” She nodded. “If you’ll excuse me.”

Eddie followed her out with his eyes. Then he turned back to Max and Robin. “You know, yesterday I was teasing about her being Lady Eliwen, but seriously she just has this quality that is out of time, you know?”

Robin snickered. “Yeah. We’re pretty sure she’s some flavor of neurodivergent but we aren’t sure what.”

“I like it,” Max said fiercely. “I think it’s cool that she can be herself, you know?”

Oh, Eddie absolutely did. He glanced over his shoulder to the direction she had gone. He turned back to the other girls, clapping his hands and rubbing them together. “So what’s the plan today?”

i wish we had alloaro representation in media. a charming character who fucks - both literally AND aesthetically. one that makes other characters go "wow! they're so cool and good in bed, but ultimately un-datable, because as soon as they sense any romantic intention on you, they flee" (kinda like lucifer morningstar from "lucifer". he's aroallo in my heart)

a character who's funny and has a horrifyingly 80's sense of fashion (they have a curly combed-out mullet and mismatched earrings. you'll find them at pride wearing a corn costume because it "matches the aroallo flag" and they're "being subtle") or one who's the embodiment of a 60's greaser (their motorcycle helmet is themed after the aro flag and the back of their leather jacket says "LOVELESS / LOVE LOSES") or one who's a girly fanfiction writer that has more ships than a star wars movie (their fics are muntifandom-ly famous and most their stuff is covered in yaoi/yuri patches and stickers. everyone thinks they're a hopeless romantic because of it, but that's exactly why they're so big on the fiction ≠ reality discourse) or...

anyone else, really. just ultimately a HUMAN who's casually aromantic. one who doesn't make it a parade but isn't subtle about it, either. will they hold other character's hands? maybe. kiss their cheek? perhaps. hang out with them, on picnics and walks along the river? can't see why not! but platonically. or maybe have them be genuinely romance-repulsed & not so eager to participate in anything socially perceived as romantic. that would also be amazing.

let them express themselves sexually! let them fuck. give them a..."fuckbuddy", if you must. or a best friend who's sexually involved with them - classic romcom material, i know - but without it being "complicated"; because there's no romance involved to complicate it.

give them funny scenes. another character tries to kiss their lips or ask them on a date? they laugh nervously, the scene cuts and we get a hilarious shot of them escaping through the bathroom window. or audibly saying "ew" and then regretting it. another character is struggling to write a romcom/romance book without it being corny? we get a scene where our character casually describes the most romantical (and, to them, unappealing) plot ever - because, much like aces acing the smut department, they're far from misunderstanding what is or isn't heartstopping for alloromantics - only to have the other character stare at them like "?????????? HELLO????". give us a scene of them being confused as to why their hookup is yelling at them for acting "so casual" and responding with a quotable shitty line ("just because we had sex last night i can't call you "bro"? / "what? expected me to marry you or something? get off my bed, it's 9AM" / "would you rather have me mad? sad? what's happening here. give me a hint")

but give them complicated scenes too. scenes portraying the loneliness that comes with being aromantic but not asexual, the lack of community. them talking about how hard it is to maintain sexual relationships just sexual. the painful "breakups" because one of their friends declared their undying love for them but they cannot possibly match that energy, even if they wanted to. have them weep because somehow that keeps happening. the unfairness in being accused of heartlessness and selfishness by other queers. the shame on being told they're fetishistic and the reason why queer men/women/people are seen as sex-crazed or impure.

...anyways, i'm rambling- do y'all have any aroallo ocs? or ideas for alloaro characters? maybe aroallo headcanons? i'd love to know what you think! :)

Watching Voltron for the 1st Time: S2 Ep. 8-10

Hi so in this post I have a mild to moderate case of headloss in the extreme. Just a fair warning! I WILL lose it! MORE THAN ONCE. Anyway if you want the lore on why I'm watching this ancient show on a sketchy website in 2025, CLICK HERE! These episodes have been some of my favorites so far, and so this post is going to be A BIG ONE.

Keith and Shiro heart to hearts are the backbone of this show dawg. And Shiro's winged eyeliner. He really kills it there.

"Ulaz had a penchant for ignoring orders and following impulses" HM THAT SOUNDS LIKE KEITH and Shiro thinks so too because Shiro is immediately defending him. Based, true, etc.

I LOVE that Shiro has never seen this damn knife and for all he knows Keith stole it and Shiro is still willing to fucking blow it all up if he has to. For such a control freak he's got his limits

There Is Still Some Factor Of Suckage

These trials were concocted in a way that I think was. Hamstrung. I think they could've done a little more! No shame in taking inspo from the many many tests for Jedi/force sensitives in Star Wars. The "You are not meant to go through that door" fighting is cool, but there could've been something transitioning from that better into the Acid Trip Dream

Really disappointing that Keith didn't get a magical girl transformation into an alien when his knife got a magical girl transformation.

This episode really felt like a nothingburger filler beyond giving us Shiro going insane with this annoying little predetermination creature, because it set up Lance feeling insecure and then we just have to. Pretend it's resolved? When it's not? Like him having one good shot isn't like... an actual resolution and. Why. Why are we. I might go insane if I keep thinking about this.

WHY DON'T WE GET MORE SHIRO AND PIDGE BONDING OVER KNOWING HER FAM

Speaking of did Keith know Pidge before? Presumably Shiro knew of Pidge because like. If your other 2 mission partners are related and have a smart lil family member they would talk about them. And Shiro seems like he'd defend his Emotional-Support-Stray-Cat-I-Mean-Keith at all costs so like.

mmm, this one isn't super logic focused, but you can't get this dialogue without passing the challenging Logic passive... and it's really interesting.

this is about to get really rambly but I read a story once about if when you die, your soul travels to a timeline where the flow of events was different and you didn't die. But as your life progresses, avoiding death becomes less and less likely... (eg, avoiding death by getting hit by a bus would take you to a very similar timeline. Mammon is desperately trying to convince them to not visit the record shop, even contradicting himself. Says they shouldn't be the first customers right at opening, that's rude. Or saying it's probably really busy and they should just hang out here. Goes as far as offering free stuff but only if they stay. None of this works.

I bet Belphie has the biggest grin on his face as they leave, with Mammon halfway through following them out the door to hold them back himself. But he can't leave his cafe unattended. He's so worried they'll embarrass him somehow.

Cue them arriving to the shop and I look up to say hi/welcome but I'm currently very occupied trying to make bracelets. And of course I don't recognize them from the cafe because eye contact? Who's she? I don't know her. I'm mostly better about it with people I know, but if I get embarrassed about something I can't hold it 😭 (No doubt Mammon and Solomon would totally do something like a chin grab.)

Anyway Belphie is having the time of his life looking through everything. Finds two CD's he swears he couldn't find anywhere online for anything less than $80. And some records he hasn't had time to order. This has become his new favorite place. Beel is happily carrying everything, very glad he researched beforehand.

They come up to pay and I very awkwardly make space on the counter, apologizing for the mess. Up close, Belphie confirms that he recognizes the bracelets. Even recognizes some lyrics/songs.

That one question gets me very excited and feel instantly less awkward. I start rambling about how it's gonna be my first concert, I'm so excited, it's my favorite band. Until I remember myself and cut myself off because wow I should not be talking two strangers ears off.

"It's okay. Our older brother is the same way with anime. We're used to it."

Beel saying that makes me feel even more embarrassed, but it's the thought that counts. I squint at him for a second because he looks familiar but I shrug it off. I ask if they're brothers too and Beel nods and confirms they're twins.

After checking them out, I offer them one of the bracelets I've already made. Belphie was already eyeing an infinity on high themed bracelet. Beel chooses Death Valley because it's one of the few songs he recognizes because it makes for good workout music. I end up giving them a pair of "Half-doomed/Semi-Sweet" bracelets because they said they were twins. They can have matching bracelets. (Belphie immediately hands the semi-sweet one to Beel).

Before they leave, Belphie catches sight of my "cursed" records display. He rolls his eyes and asks who would buy something like that. I shrug and say "You'd be surprised. I have someone who buys one every time he comes in."

It's only after they leave that I realize I didn't get their names, a contact, or anything. I may or may not yell into my hands because "I COULD'VE HAD KINDA FRIENDS TO GO WITH IF I'D ASKED THEM !! WHY DIDN'T I ASK?!" Now I'm still stuck going alone </3 (or so I think.)

I feel like Belphie would definitely show off his purchase to the family group chat. Beel shows off a photo of their hands next to each other with the new bracelets and says they made a new friend. Mammon is sending angry emojis.

Umineko Episode 5 Thoughts: The Part Where I Try To Lock In

I feel the need to just get this out while I have the chance to do this before I start episode 6. I think I finished this episode over a week ago at this point and have since been doing other stuff, been too busy with real life to pour over this vn, etc. My thoughts on the episode itself will be kinda minor but I'll compensate with my current theories on the overarching mystery and the murders. What I'm hoping to do is have preliminary theories ready for episode 6 so that I can develop them while reading it and be ready for endgame. I even started making a physical journal of my thoughts on each murder, character, and rule because after like 80% of my life in the education system this is all I know how to do to retain information, plus! itll be cute. but anyways

Doing what's easy for me and starting at the beginning and just working my way through. I'm still kinda burnt by Beato in episode 3 but I really do wanna believe she's like fully dejected now that Battler isn't matching her as an opponent the way she thought he would. Surreal to see her practically dead but I guess this is signaling that the game is becoming something much bigger than Battler vs Beatrice, to the point where Bern and Lambda are more active and Knox is now involved. Through some meta lens I almost wanna read this as like, an event within the world of detective fiction where a story spirals out of control and the foundations that do exist need to intervene. Feels like commentary on stories as a whole, what has been established as "good" and "reasonable" and what it means to subvert those paradigms, and how far you can reasonably go. And having these larger themes on fiction as a whole run parallel to the events of Rokkenjima, with the ideas of love and trust being established and broken between family mirroring the trust between an author and reader and the love for reading and storytelling, is very satisfying. And if you read the witches as authors and critics of mystery stories, or just stories in general, then the idea of fiction giving our lives fulfilment and meaning also operates on all these levels: the witches weave the narrative on Rokkenjima from a higher plane to stave off their boredom, those on Rokkenjima cope with the dire situation by blaming the murders on witches and demons, and outside of the murders, the people who struggle because of this family cope with fantasy, from Ange and Maria easing their loneliness with the sisters and Sakutaro, to, as we see later, Natsuhi finding refuge from her responsibilities in an imaginary Kinzo and his furniture.

Going off my ideas about black and white magic in the last episode, Natsuhi herself is beginning to resemble a white witch in the same way Maria did. Her and Jessica finally beginning to come to an understanding of one another only in the dire circumstances that were the murders of Rokkenjima was one of the first terrifyingly realo depictions of strained family relationships I latched onto in the game, and I was sorta sad to see her fall to the wayside in the rest of the Question Arcs (altho everyone else getting some focus was important). Very nice to see her in the forefront again here, this time focusing more on her self-sacrificing nature and her sense of duty to the image and wellbeing of the Ushiromiya family that feeds it.

Having THIS be the backdrop of her inner monologue is fitting considering the way everything she faces ends up spiraling into her own guilt and self-loathing, and how she needs to take everything on for her family. I can't even blame her at this point for imagining Kinzo recognizing her for her work cuz idk how else I would live like this. And when she tries to help her husband and he just keeps making the same types of decisions that fail his business ventures and she ends up just acquiescing every time. Wow its just harrowing. They can never make me hate Natsuhi. Also I forget if I addressed Maria's torture of Rosa in the last write up, I don't wanna say a whole lot besides the cycle of abuse within the Ushiromiya family is horrifying, and that it feels like this chapter, Maria's turn to inflicting harm on others to cope feels unaddressed in a concerning way. Like I'm scared

As for the new characters, I like Erika a decent amount so far, I'm mainly just waiting for her to fly off the handle because she was just so dominant here until the end of the episode. Her being an avatar of Bernkastel almost makes me think of her as like a joke on author insert characters in fiction, also makes me wonder just what Erika is, if she's supposed to be like a meta entity like the witches even tho she's meant to be a human? Does she just exist between reality and fiction as Berns fucked up creation? Its interesting to me. Also they keep namedropping Ange when talking abt Erika as a piece and its getting on my damn nerves keep my homegirls name out your mouth. I like Dlanor a lot too and how cordial and nice she can be. even tho formally she's usually an enemy.

Not much changed here besides moving Natsuhi up and Krauss down again lmao. I'll keep doing these just to track my opinions but it might be good to be more nuanced with it, add a few more tiers or find some other way to address the cast overall altho by this point, almost all of them in the okay tier or above are so well established and integrated into the story. If I take anything from this vn its gonna be the cast.

The murders themselves I was like fine with. I hope Jessica died painlessly she deserves a break. Obviously things went way differently but, I thought the way it worked was a little boring and I almost expect episode 6 to be some sort of do-over for it altho that feels unlikely at the same time. Altho I do understand it, this is supposed to be a breaking point for Battler, seeing someone actually be (wrongfully?) implicated but being powerless to fight against it before he has his epiphany moment so it's fine. The court scene also made up for it just in its style alone, the sound design, visual effects and transitions are such a treat and give this game such a strong identity among visual novels. The OST with tracks like patchwork chimera, ACI-L and totemblume is like incredible, -45 does such incredible work and I wish I could have them all on my vgm tag on this blog. I might need to liek stop being lazy and do my own vgm uploads and quit replying on other blogs to do it if i want them on my blog lmao. Still a good episode and it's obviously setting up for greater payoffs but it's hard for me to imagine that Bern and Lambda find this first game of theirs particularly interesting before the court scene.

What I'm interested about thought is Natsuhi's baby, if that will end up being a full-fledged piece of Lambda's, and if its the character who I think it is from the little snippets of him I've seen in the intro. It does kinda tickle me that the first twilight murders were all very deep, clean slices to the neck and there's just a Battler-aged, brown haired dude in the intro with a sword. Considering how hard he implicated Natsuhi by controlling her movements, his presence in the story is cooperative with Erika's sleuthing and I'm curious if they'll end up working together as, I guess meta entities in the story? We'll see.

Like I said before I go into ep 6 I wanted to just get down what I have as the solution so far. Nothing concrete still, and I know the how is super important even tho I kinda only have the who and sorta the why, but again I'm hoping episode 6 will help me develop that.

Anyways I really think it's Kyrie. PIOKJHGFHJKL:L I can't help it. I almost feel like I'm approaching it at the wrong angle and that she's a red herring or something, and I keep going back and forth, but at the same time, so much of the movement of the characters makes sense when you think of it as Kyrie manipulating things. Her face being completely smashed in the first twilight of episode 1. Her being the one to rile the other parents up by warning them about Beatrice in episode 2. The details she reveals about herself in episode 3 and the part of her and Hideyoshi's characters tab that alludes to her shooting him (maybe an accident but ???). And the way she positions herself slightly under Krauss when they're in the dungeon of episode 4, letting him take the reins but still having a lot of influence and command as well as watching them all die as they escape, being the only one to make it inside, being "missed" a bunch by the Chiesters and telling Battler in her own words to believe in magic while her version of the actual events as it is given to Battler is glossed over by the narration. The mystery of the code above the parlor in (i think) episode 3 and half of the numbers corresponding to Battler's birthday. And that, as Beatrice said, because of Battler's sin, people on the island die, that the sin feels like it could be connected to his unclear parentage and that the sin, by the fact that it occurred 6 years in the past, was close to Asumu's death, Rudolph's marriage to Kyrie and Ange's birth. Again I could be barking up the wrong tree cuz I really don't have the how or why down like, in a concrete way yet but I don't know it just feels so likely like I just feel it. And she at least has Genji or Shannon in cahoots too, not committing the murders but just helping with keys or acting as certain people. It would be easy to say they're acting on Kinzo's will but he's dead now so idk. But my vague guess is she wants revenge against the Ushiromiya family for how (like how it affects literally everyone elses like a huge trauma abuse machine) it affected her life, her relationship with Rudolph and the birth of her child. Maybe Battler really is hers but was taken at birth because Asumu's child had died or she has miscarriage and the family wanted to save face. And I think by manipulating the situation and her in-laws she managed to create a state of paranoia on the island, which facilitated most if not all of the murders even without her needing to act. Just because of some of the ways she dies, and some of the red truths restricting the possibilities, I don't know right now if it's possible for her to have killed everyone, but I think it's possible for her to have led people like Rosa and Eva to kill.

Kyrie is shown early on to be among the most shrewd and observant people on the island, at least concerning the battle for inheritance, and since her and the other siblings, besides Krauss and Natsuhi, are already in cooperation against Krauss, I don't find it hard to imagine that she could splinter the group further by influencing any one person in it on her own, away from the others, and I feel like that's how she got some things done in the first couple episodes, and maybe episode 3? Like for the first, I can imagine Kyrie taking Eva aside and using her competitiveness and resentment to convince her to go along with her plan to kill all the other siblings, blame Natsuhi to get her out of the way so the inheritance can be enjoyed by Eva and Hideyoshi with Kyrie taking a fraction while pretending to be dead. Eva goes along with it and after the murders, where Kyrie's whole face is obscured (and Shannon's half-face is hidden from George), and after they return to the parlor, Eva implicates Natsuhi heavily while stoking tensions even further by leaving with Hideyoshi and being very overt about setting the chain to their door and only coming out at precisely dinnertime. Going with the idea that Kyrie's still alive, she hides out in the designated guest room and kills the couple, escaping when Genji and Kanon discover it but leave to get help, escaping and resetting the chain from outside somehow, like with some sort of tool perhaps? and draws the magic circle and leaves, or if we believe Shannon is also alive, that her face was obscured for a reason and any confirmation that "Shannon is dead" can be bypassed with a loophole about her real name (Sayo I think I remember but if I google it I'll get spoiled), Shannon makes the circle and when Kanon and Kumasawa cut the chain, enter and move away from the door to one of the bodies, Kyrie slips out. I can't find any specific red text for this specific locked room other than the one for all locked rooms, so I'm guessing the instances where the entrances are unattended are deliberate. Kanon's death, from what I can find, isn't denied to have been with a trap like Natsuhi's is, so I'll guess that and then say the rest of the deaths were committed straightforwardly, with Shannon disguised as Beatrice for Maria and possibly Natsuhi as Kyrie kills them.

Episode 2 is weird cuz I don't feel like I can act like Kyrie can be proven to be alive atm but it feels like she could have been in contact with Rosa instead, potentially starting with the appearance of Beatrice at the "19th guest". Rosa witnesses her and while it isn't revealed in this episode, it's feels possible that this is likely Shannon in disguise having an effect on her because of how she watched Beatrice die as a kid. Kyrie is in the entrance when Beatrice "enters the mansion", and I think she likely pretended to see her to rile up the other siblings, saw Rosa as potentially weak and had her corroborate to seem more convincing. And later that night, at the chapel, Rosa kills the other siblings. No set motive for this, but when I read the red text which specifies that the key to the chapel didn't pass thru anyone else's hands before Rosa took it, it didn't, to my knowledge, specify that Rosa only took it once, so she could have grabbed the key around midnight and let them all in before killing them, forgetting or pretending she didn't, and then locking and leaving. I also think that the reason they were all at the chapel was over the gold, which we see three ingots after the discovery of the bodies. If the gold is real, I think Rosa could have solved the mystery here considering she solved it in episode 3, and brought some gold as proof, or Kyrie could have solved it and not said anything although that somehow seems less likely. Either way, over the fight about the gold, Rosa in a stupor or frenzy or something kills them and leaves. Since Shannon isn't shown here, maybe she pretends to be the Beatrice we see talking to them here and guts the corpses after, also placing the magic circle, but having Rosa return the key for her to find again. I don't know about the later deaths though I still have to work some of them out. Like what we see as Kanon being warped away and suddenly trudging around outside the kitchen might just be him being killed or gravely wounded and the body being taken and laid against that back door for Gohda to find. Stuff like that but I need to work it out.

Eva in episode 3 almost feels so obvious that it seems like a red herring. If Shannon and maybe Genji and mayyyyybe Kanon? are in kahoots then the six part locked room seems more doable. Eva killing the five after that feels really on the nose, I'm wondering if Beatrice losing some of the games to Battler's Eva culprit Hideyoshi accomplice theory was her playing her own game against him. Altho even with that there's still some mystery like the floating gun killing Hideyoshi which the character tips seem to imply was Kyrie's doing. Battler also proposes that Kyrie's idea about going to the mansion was to privately confront Hideyoshi, in his eyes to confirm that Eva was going out because Eva hated his smoke but a cigarette butt was found in an ashtray of the rom, and I think this is likely, but I also think that maybe, potentially like episode 1, Kyrie colluded with Eva and Hideyoshi and she wanted Hideyoshi to explain why Eva was acting suspicious, in the privacy of the mansion as the smaller guesthouse leaves more opportunity for conversation to be overheard. I also wonder if Kyrie knew that Eva found the gold. If Kyrie was with Rosa here the way she might have been in episode 2, Rosa might've told Kyrie that Eva found it, and besides that, I feel like Kyrie is the type of person to be able to deduce that Eva found it, but this is speculation. No clue what was happening as Kyrie's stomach was bleeding out in front of Eva though.

But this kind of is the best I got right now before I go into episode 6. All of this is assuming Kyrie's able to fake her death as a couple key points and that multiple murderers and servant accomplices are even permitted, I don't think I saw anything in red or any Knox rules against these things but that theory just makes things work better. Technically a lot of these murders can have anyone as the culprit with someone like Shannon as an accomplice but this is the most complete idea I can come up with. I don't even know about episode 5. Hopefully ep6 elucidates some things. Maybe Eva knew Kyrie was a killer and that's part of her resentment of Ange. Maybe there is some fucky true identity shit with Asumu and Kyrie. who knows! Also I had to text search and replace every time I called an episode a chapter because I'm barely cognizant of all the names of the individual chapters within the episodes and I'm just thinking of this like a big book god help me

How can we let WWE know that Pretty Deadly have won the hearts of another fandom that is completely unrelated to sports and also that Kit and Elton have been fan cast for the roles of two major characters from a Tolkien book? 😄

If I may also add that prior to watching that Magic Mike video, I thought that Elton was the more graceful one of the two but now I think it's definitely Kit. He did a great job with the dance and the entire choreography while Elton seems to have struggled a bit more, especially with the hips moves.

As a person with so much insight, I was wondering how do you think Pretty Deadly are liked amongst wrestling fans? I watched almost every video I could find of them in the past few days and they certainly have their fanbase but they also have detractor (which I guess is normal). I still can't believe how two wrestling guys won my heart! The fact that they are so similar to Celegorm and Curufin in appearance and in character definitely helped but now I also love them for themselves because they are so hilarious and entertaining and such good friends! Also it's funny, I could talk about their physicality for like an hour. I think Kit tends to be a little stiffer than Elton, which lends better for Elton for like... jumps and shit. So, I guess, idk, two things -

1.) They're heels/bad guys. Them being booed is expected and actually a good thing, that's their job. That means they're doing it well. Silence is the worst reaction they could get. There's actually a big chunk of like, long term fans who make comments like "Wow, I actually genuinely hate these guys... and that's a good thing." and that's just absolutely true. They're vain, they cheat, they're there to make the good guys look better. It's not super often in this day and age that a tag team makes people feel some type of way like that, and a lot of those same people will tell you they feel like they came out of the 80s for that reason. There's a lot about them in both character and just overall presentation, and the stuff they do in the ring, that appeals to like, actual fans of different eras, and not just a modern fanbase.

But like 2.) The "Main Roster" so to speak of the 'E is.... difficult. Because half the fanbase aren't those fans, they're casual fans or a younger audience. And unfortunately, since they were brought off the developmental show (which primarily has a very loyal unique audience and is almost always broadcast from the same building as opposed to on the road), and also because there was an injury early in the run, they got kind of... stunted, I think. They kind of went from one of their biggest up and coming acts to being pushed to the sidelines. So you end up with half a crowd that doesn't "get it" so to speak, or just dislikes them because... well... a lot of wrestling still appeals to a less than great crowd and they're the effeminate English guys and like, das gay, bro. So I think if you're watching stuff from Smackdown in particular, the reaction to them is a little unfortunate, and I'm hoping that changes soon because there's some new teams on the show after the past couple weeks and maybe they'll finally get a new storyline to work with to kinda re-introduce them.

hey, hope youve been well! i had some dream or hunch or something to post this now. i'm sorry for the big delay, but maybe a monthly cadence is a good rhythm..? not sure. but i feel its best we should respond when we're most comfortable and not asap. my summer's been great so far. i think in general things have been great and i hope i can maintain this momentum! i forgot if i mentioned this last time, but i switched to a new medication and it's been very good so far. how was your switch?

if you have trouble journaling, you could try an app called daylio. i initially used it to only track my mood because im bipolar, but later down the line i started using its journal features. it reminds you every 8pm to do an entry. back then id only mark my mood, but during good times i would write down something. now everyday i write something and attach photos. it has cool features, you should give it a shot. once you reach a high number, you just want to maintain the streak. journaling really helps me maintain my mindfulness and be grateful. it also helps me reflect on progress and remind me how things change even though i sometimes don't feel it.

i believe in second chances too. there were times i wanted second chances. if i feel i should get a second chance, i should give others that opportunity as well. people are able to change and mistakes can be made when emotions are high. i think it's good that you know what you like/need though and you should always stand for it.

random thought but i saw the film 'Talk to Me' recently and it was super good, i highly recommend it. it's a horror flick though, but i feel it has great ideas and themes. other films i've seen this year was the new spiderman and barbie. those are like near perfect films to me lol.

I read the message you sent me in November 2024 too. Responding to this one first so maybe you can read about this little time capsule from when you felt differently. Do you still use Daylio? I've been journaling more lately too. Mostly about anger, sadness, and grief but I hope to take myself on more self dates in the future. Just bring a book and a journal and have a nice meal somewhere. Journal more and learn to love my own company with no phone in sight.

On second chances: I think they must be earned, and I also don't think you owe anyone second chances. That's up to you and your own boundaries. People can grow but you don't have to stick around for it because you feel bad. I would hate for someone to stick around me because they felt pity or something like that. Not saying that's what you're saying, I'm just extrapolating.

I have to be honest, I'm not in the best of moods right now. The reason why I stopped replying for (wow) one and a half years is because I was going through a breakup late 2023. In 2024, I went through another painful breakup, and I just ended another 1.5 year relationship 2.5 weeks ago, which I'm still hurting from. (The timeline is confusing bc I tried doing polyamory)

It's been rough on my heart to say the least. But I'm committing to singlehood and reinvesting in myself and my friendships. I will become my own favorite person, and treat myself the way I'd want to be treated by friends and lovers, so as to attract that kind of love too. It's been lonely though, I have to be real. And heartbreaking when I found out my most recent ex went on a date a week after we broke up. Somewhere deep down I hope he realizes he fumbled, and how unfair of a relationship it was to me. I put in 80% of the effort, and basically carried our relationship, as I believed each empty promise, and fought for us on my own (he can attest). It was a slow painful dissipation of let down after let down. He made me feel really hard to love. Lol. He literally went on his phone and started replying to messages DURING our breakup convo. It completely confirmed I was making the right choice but wow was it brutal to see right after I told him I felt he couldn't prioritize me. Funny how he proved me right one last time. (I hear you universe, I got the memo!!!)

But I am cementing many lessons. (some for the nth time..)

1985 - Wrestlemania 1

Welcome to the mid 80s, everyone is stylish, ‘murica reigns supreme, workout regimes involve a lot of lifting things-burgers-lifting more things and drugs, probably in that order.

I can immediately see the contrast from these early days to the turn of the millennium Attitude era productions. This is billed more like a serious combat match you would see in boxing or MMA. Everyone is full kayfabe (which I learned means selling the performance) and in these early days it’s easy to see people getting hyped up as if this is a real match. It’s certainly a meaty performance, a flesh ballet of a kind…that sounds wrong…let’s get on with the show.

Notable commentators:

Gene Okerlund sells me straight away as a legend, I don’t know how long he has been going up to this point, but his voice is amazing, and you can tell he’s having a great time. I hope we get a lot more of him.

Gorilla Monsoon - amazing name, good down to earth commentator. Seems to have the vibe of someone that’s gotten some good will in the wrestling scene. I dunno maybe it’s just because I’m comparing him to…

Jesse Ventura - Wow, star of the Predator is a WWE commentator, actually yeah that fits. He’s mostly the antagonist commentator, invested in his own achievements in comparison but you know, it’s at least…notable dialogue.

Lord Alfred Hayes - The brit for the bit. Right but what…also…why? Without delving into Wiki’s I can only assume this is a stunt commentator to add some flavour, something for the audience to laugh at maybe? It’s quite endearing seeing the upper-class imitating brit enthusiastically announce matches and commentary.

Special guest was announced as Muhammad Ali, this is probably the most logical pick of the entire night, someone incredibly famous to highlight what a big deal this match is. It’s a stunt pick but exactly the right kind. And then you get Liberace and his dancing girls doing the…Can-Can? For several minutes…they don’t quite know what this show is do they…so, matchups! Let’s go, let’s do the wrasslin! 

Tito Santana V The Executioner - Tito tries to cut a scathing promo pre-match but his lack of enthusiasm doesn’t really sell me on wanting to support him. Meanwhile the executioner walks in looking like he’s about to rob a bank. He’s from parts unknown so he must be dangerous right?! Some nice moves by Santana early on showing some early domination, he’s certainly better in the ring than he is on the mic. A submission ending secures Tito’s win in a fairly entertaining contest. -Tier 5-

King Kong Bundy V Special Delivery Jones - S.D. Jones is hyped, he’s gonna get down for you! And holy bejesus King Kong Bundy is huuuge. Pretty sure he’s wider than he is tall! 458lbs of flesh ready to slap Jones about. After a splash 20 seconds in and Bundy wins. Not quite the spectacle we hope for the Woodstock of wrestling, more a showcase of Bundy’s extreme condition. -Tier 9-

Ricky Steamboat” V Matt Borne - “Let Me Tell You Something” seems to be modus operandi for every promo intro. I’m pretty sure Borne is three separate wrestlers in a hairy overcoat because nothing about him matches. On the other hand Ricky Steamboat is just girth, sadly his attitude just sounds like he’s complaining to the manager at a supermarket checkout.

Commentators keep mentioning Ricky’s “Martial Arts” as an advantage, this must be from a time before Asian fighting arts were more nuanced. This is some by-the-numbers wrestling, lots of standard moves with not a lot of energy, though I appreciate Ricky’s final acrobatics securing him the win. -Tier 6-

David Sammartino V Brutus Beefcake - Despite Sammy’s dad sporting one of the biggest chin’s I’ve ever seen I’m sort of rooting for him, because the opposition seemed to dress like he forgot he wasn’t going to a Flash convention. Also, why is everyone wearing sunglasses inside…ohhhh, never mind. Lucious Johnny does the talking for Beefcake who just blows a raspberry into the microphone. Peak cinema this…

This clearly was just for hijinks, as the match ends up with a dramatic start and concludes as a no-contest. The managers getting involved directly and having some sort of squabble. Some good popcorn popping entertainment. -Tier 4-

Let me tell you this...

The Junkyard Dog V Greg Valentine - Ooh a champion. Valentine with the intercontinental belt on the line. Meanwhile his canine opponent grumbles something on the mic and moves on to…oh no…is that a collar…and chains. WWF this is not a good look even for 1985…I don’t think that will be the last time I say that. Bearing that in mind, JYD did get his own theme music, so he must be popular. Also, who the hell is Jimmy Hart, and why does he dress like something from a british kids show. “Hey kid’s, it’s time to do a chokeslam!”

Valentine’s wrestling bothers me somewhat, despite the fact he looks like he’s steak for all the important meals of the day he seems to be a bit more theatrical than impactful. Some confusing events near the end as somehow Valentine gets the pin, though Tito Santana contests it to give JYD the win. Everyone is angry, the crowd goes wild, I sip my whisky and chuckle sensibly. -Tier 5-

Nikolai Volkoff & The Iron Shief V U.S. Express - If there was any doubt the cold war was happening this was it...blatant stereotyping but hey, it's WWF in the 80s, y'all wanna see them commies taken down hoo-ah, eagles, freedom. Up against Starlight Express managed by a guy who keeps elastic bands on his face, yeh okay, I need more whiskey. I mean come on, it’s literally ‘MURICA vs the Reds, they know how to rage bait the audience.

All this being said, this is actually some solid wrestling, a good variety of suplex manuevers and men in large red pants throwing people about. The heels getting the win here as Shiek and Volkoff get the tag team championship which surprised me, I expect someone to get impaled on a Rotundo action figure in the parking lot later. -Tier 6-

Andre The Giant V Big John Studd - So, this is a bit of a unique one. 15k in cash from John to challenge Andre to a slam match, with Andre retiring if he loses. But I see one major problem here, Andre the Giant is fucking HUGE. I’d heard the stories, seen The Princess Bride but good lord, he’s a monster. His hands have their own micro-gravity. Even though Big John Studd is incredibly big by himself, Andre just makes him look like a toddler…how would this even work!

However, Andre’s wrestling style is more about how big he is and I suspect he doesn’t have the ability, nor the momentum to perform any of the more acrobatic moves. That being said Andre gets the slam and John’s manager runs away with the money, that dastard! There’s no cheating in my kayfabe! -Tier 4-

Wendi Richter V Leilani Kai - Is that freaking Cyndi Lauper!! Gotta love a celebrity cameo and you know what, girl’s do want to have fun! And then there is The Mighty Moolah with her dollar sign glasses doing it before any of the cool rappers from later on. Leilani Kai looked like a member of the public who mistook the arena for a Jimmy Buffet gig and ended up having to cut a promo and throw herself about the ring. A mildly entertaining bout of wrasslemation. -Tier 6-

I'm so cool you could keep a side of beef on me for a week

MAIN EVENT: Hulk Hogan & Mr. T V Rowdy Roddy Piper & Mr Wonderful - Bagpipe entrance for Roddy which gives me a bit of whiplash as I just watched this intro with Drew McIntrye at Clash At The Castle. But he’s not on home soil here, and appears to be a bit of a heel! Bonus points for Cowboy Bob Orton who I recently found out is the father of longtime WWE stalwart Randy Orton. But wait, here comes the real crowd draw, Hulkamania is alive, Hogan’s popularity is evidently apparent as he’s accompanied by the A-Team champion himself, Mr. T! We don’t really get much story as to why this match is setup, but it’s a cool lineup, as someone who watched a fair bit of the A-Team when he was younger, this peaks my interest.

There’s a lot going on here! Lots of back and forth with various wrestlers and managers getting involved. Even Ali, as outside referee, comes in and swings at some of the misbehaving wrestlers chasing them out of the ring. Not sure he understood the memo as some of those swings looked a bit deadly. I wouldn’t say this was a classic match, as it’s messy and slightly unhinged, but it’s entertaining enough. Not sure if this showcases why Hulk Hogan was so popular to people, hopefully next time we’ll get a bit more pizazz from him. -Tier 4-

First Wrestlemania down, it’s def more a sporting event than a wrestling event. Fold up chairs by the ring and complete lack of pyrotechnics ruining the stage managers hairline give it an early 80s flavour, looking forward to the continued evolution of this franchise and all the questionable content for me to ponder the question, will this all be worth it in the end.

4. Which headmate is the most different from the body? Easy and accurate answer: S, bc he's a 6'8" cat guy and I identify approximately with how our body looks, lol. Fun and interesting secret answer: although not usually super relevant, because I'm also a dragon internally (although I'm almost always in human/human-ish shape when interacting in headspace, even), S's "true form" is actually closer to what we have by virtue of being approximately human-shaped, relative to mine (aka Very Large Dragon) 6. 13. What headmate has a skill that the body doesn't usually, but when they front the body gets it (or almost gets it)? Hm. I don't think we get a whole lot of this, but the closest stuff that "transfers over" for S (since I'm the one who kind of 'set the defaults' on our body's skills) are I think: - noticeably more 'nonchalant physical coordination', if that makes sense? awareness and comfort in physical tasks, within our body's notable limits - I actually have no idea how, physiologically, he makes his laugh sound like that, it's almost creepy - one skill he loses: easy affective/connective eye contact when emotionally stressed. he can either death-glare stare you down, or avoid the threat display by not making eye contact at all--really hard for him to do the "conversational positive eye contact stuff" in those situations, even though that was never hard for me at all. it changed my brain chemistry. i cut up sheets of paper to make tiny little labels and tape them onto my colored pencils to match the expanded hemospectrum. i was very very normal. i still have the colored pencils with labels although they are shorter now from roughly ten years of time passing

the following events may or may not be in chronological order

and then later on. there was the panel in a6a6 with roxy and the matriorb and all the other jadeblood symbols. and i got Very Normal

and then the extended zodiac released and i Went Batshit

and then i looked through all of a5a1 and eyedropped every single blood color. because the extended zodiac Standardized the colors. and let me tell you. they are Not Standardized in hs proper. vriska alone has 25 different hex codes for just her blood alone

and then i saw more and more other fan hemospectrum expansions. and more people making fantrolls with mutations like karkat's. and like rainbowblood and black & white blood and pastel stuff and desaturated stuff and other mutations

and i went autismode. because if there's neon stuff and pastel stuff and dark stuff that means that there's A Variable for Brightness. and A Variable for Saturation. and of COURSE there are hue options already. because i use HSV colorspace and not RGB because i like the hue wheel and i like the satval percents

so i made a grid. i made a lot of grids

and then i got more annoyed at the ezodiac's standardized colors because none of them are the same saturation or value and the hues are not EVENLY DISTRIBUTED around the color wheel. so i was trying to do math and make it work out like. rust/0, bronze/30, gold/60 -> 0 30 60 is fine. but then lime is 75 and olive is 90. and then we jump all the way up to jade being 150.

but then everything else is evenly spaced after that. teal/180, cerulean/210, indigo/240, purple/270, violet/300, fuchsia/330. and then we loop around to rust at 0/360.

so instead of doing math to make hue slide/hue cusp mutations (because at the time i was doing something similar to PMG's EZ Project fantrolls but with fireheart's hemospectrum instead of the ezodiac) i uh.

well now i have 24 hue castes instead of 12. going by 15 degrees around the wheel. 0 15 30 45 60 75 90 105 120 135 150 165 180 195 210 225 240 255 270 285 300 315 330 345 (360)

and then i decided "oh i should make the grids go by steps of 6% instead of 5 because trolls are so bug and so hexagon it will fit thematically" so i had to redo the ones i made already

(steps of five was as normal. like 100 95 90 85 80 etc. steps of 6 is more complicated though)

and then i thought "wow wouldn't it be cool if you could randomly generate a blood color by rolling for specific hsv placement and presence of blood mutation and stuff. wouldn't that be so cool"

so i made a perchance generator (i am still working on it)

(i've made one for fantroll names also but i need to redo the phonemes and probability so stuff actually like. sounds good when you say it out loud)

(but also i say fef-errr-ee and not fe-fairy. so)

then i had a thought. "how does one tell between a troll with a place on a grid that's slightly out of the norm. and a troll who has a mutation"

so then i added Extra Spots to my blood grids. so a troll with a hue mutation will always have a blood color that is "off grid". and i wanted to evenly space those out so i put steps between each chunk of 3 for my normal satval grids.

so 100 (94 88) 85 (82 76 70) 67 (64 58 52) 49 (46 40 34) 31 (28 22 16) 13 (10 4) 0

(100 85 67 49 31 13 0 -> 7 steps)

and now i have to redo them again. to space out the chunks and add the new spots.

so for context;

24 normal grids of saturation x value which have 18 possibilities each (except anything that has a Value of 0 will automatically be #000000) (and anything with a saturation of 0 will always be the same greyscale color no matter what the hue is)

so that's 17x17 colors which is 289 colors per grid

plus the offgrid colors, not counting the v000 stuff because auto #000000. and not counting the s000 stuff since it'll be the same for all hues. that's 6x6 which is 36 minus the 100/100 corner which is a normal grid spot. 35 colors per offgrid.

so that is 324 colors per hue. and there are 24 of those. 324x24 is 7776.

plus all of the sat000 colors (which includes #000 so we're counting that in here) which is 18 colors. plus the other offgrid s000 colors (five more, since 100/0 and 0/0 are already in normal gridspots) 23 greyscales.

i am making 7799 blood colors and cataloguing all of them. and verypossibly making a fantroll for all nearly eight thousand of those.

but good lord i am COUNTING.

HOW DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YEAR A PICTURE IS TAKEN JUST BY LOOKING AT IT? You Led Zeppelin fandom ppl scare me in the best possible way

HAHA don’t worry I too thought this at some point. But here’s an easy cheat sheet so you too can flawlessly date Led Zeppelin photos and scare your friends!

Now of course, I’m an amateur at this. There are people in this fandom who have a literal encyclopedic knowledge on every little detail so they’re probably better to ask, but mostly how I can the year is using the following indicators.

- the easiest one is Jimmy’s stage clothes. The black dragon suit is 75 and the poppy suit is 77. The black astrology suit with the silver embellishments is 73. Knebworth is the blue button down and in 80, everyone wore really casual clothes and he often matched with Robert. ‘68-69 is a lot of frilly Victorian dandy/princess clothes. Lots of pink and crushed velvet and white ruffles. He also dressed like he was colorblind in this era. The general vibe seemed to be “anything goes, as long as the piece is unique.” When he had the beard after May ‘70, he really embraced the homeless fisherman aesthetic and had a lot of those outfits, coupled with a rather unfortunate bucket hat.

- Jimmy’s weight and overall health is also a super easy indicator of the year. If Jimmy’s weight inspires thoughts along the lines of “wow that guy is really small, he looks like he naturally has a very slight build” then it’s probably 68-70. From 70-73 he has grown up a bit and looks it, but also looks very normal for Jimmy. He looks like he is at the weight that your average Jimmy should be at. By 75, his naturally chubby face has slimmed out a little just as effects of getting older and he looks slimmer, but still healthy. As the tour progresses he does look thinner, but nothing that makes you go, “holy shit is he okay?” If the picture inspires thoughts of “omg why is he on stage and not in a hospital?” Then it’s probably 1977. By this time his ribs are usually visible when he’s playing and his chest is literally concave in some pictures. His face also looks very haggard in most of the pictures and he has lost all the baby fat on his face, making him look mature but also a little gaunt. 79-80 his face looks permanently exhausted and he doesn’t play shirtless anymore, so you can’t see his ribby chest, but his arms look like a firm handshake could snap them.

-Jimmy’s various hair eras are also easy indicators of the year. In 1968, Jimmy wore his natural hair often (or at least smth close to his natural hair, god knows what his real hair looks like after the 60s crimping and the ‘70s curling and the ‘80s perming and the ‘90s weird short haircut era and the 2000s dying) so it was often a frizzy mess (affectionate) that’s just a around past his chin to his shoulders. It did grow out into long Princess waves eventually. 70-71 was short hair with the beard, 73 was the mullet, and 75 was longer, tight ringlets that fell just past his shoulder. 77 was slightly shorter with bangs over his forehead, and 79-80 was shorter, just past his chin, still tightly curled.

- Robert’s appearance is also an easy indicator of year. He also finally grew into looking like a man in 75, so 75- 77 Robert has a lot more mature face. ‘75 Robert still has a bit of childishness is his face, while by 77, he has fully grown into his adult looks. 70-73 Robert has a bit of a baby face, and 68-69 Robert has an extreme baby face with the shorter hair

Anyway, in 79+ he really started to look like an adult. He started to grow into the broad build he has now and cut his hair short and fluffy again. Outfit wise, he had a thing for wearing a lot of black in the earlier years. 70-71 was also the era of that beautiful musketeer facial hair which made him look like something out of a fairy tale. Robert’s stage outfits are always harder to use to discern the year, but a lot of his signature flowery, open chested blouses that you equate with Robert are from 75. Basically the Robert cheat sheet is: Short and fluffy hair with baby face is 68-70, long hair with facial hair and baby face 70-71 (he did have periods of not having the facial hair I.e the Japan Tour, which is long curls + baby face). 75 is no baby face and long curls and 77 is adult face with long hair. 79-80 is short fluffy hair with adult face.

- the stage setup is also a good indicator. Tiny bars and clubs is either 68-69 or the back to the clubs tour, depending on how grown up they look. The big laser show is 75

- for Jonesy, his pornstache is during Led Zeppelin’s unfortunate facial hair era so 1970-1971 (he didn’t go to Bron-Yr-Aur so idk what his excuse is, but he also makes the facial hair work, so it can be forgiven). His hair was shorter in 1973 and he had bangs. By 1975, he had a short haircut with lovely fluffy hair and sideburns. This is also when he grew into an adult face. You could see it a bit in 73, but 75 is when he starts looking like an adult. 77 was the gorgeous fluffy looking long hair with what looks like grown out curtain bangs lol. I’m not sure what it is but he looks great doing it. Knebworth is obviously that beautiful white suit, and longer hair and bangs.

- Bonzo just looks like Bonzo all the time. I really don’t know what to say lol. He was at peak bear 77 onwards though.

But overall, for me, outfits and appearances are the best indicators. Sorry about the long response and thanks for the ask!

Writing prompt: The bats have an ugly sweater contest....AND GO!!!

(Minor warning for Jason's inappropriate sense of humor and the song "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.")

"So are we doing the Ugly Sweater party this year, Father? Now that I understand the concept, I plan on winning."

Bruce sighed. He didn't mind the ugly Christmas sweaters, but a certain adult child of his had a tendency to find the most inappropriate sweaters possible. Last year's seem innocent enough, until the lights were turned off. Bruce couldn't even imagine where one would find a light-up sweater with Batman and Catwoman doing very NSFW things on it.

"Oh, no. I know that look. Just because Todd tries to offend everyone, it doesn't mean the rest of us should be punished!"

"You're right, Damian. We'll do the party. I'll have Alfred talk to Jason. He'll listen to him."

A week later, Bruce was standing in his living room, in a God-awful pink and green plaid monstrosity of a sweater with bells that jingled when he walked. Selina was in a beautiful black and gold sweater-dress.

"Sorry, Bruce. I don't do ugly."

Bruce kissed the side of her face. "Nothing you could wear would look ugly anyway."

Dick, Barbara, and Haley were already there in matching reindeer sweaters talking to Cassandra, who had found a glow-in-the-dark sweater with elves that danced when you turned the power on.

He heard Alfred greeting someone at the door and braced himself. Female voice. He relaxed. Stephanie came running into the room yelling a minute later.

"Happy Ugly Sweater day, Waynes & Wayne-adjacents!"

Stephanie hugged everyone and showed off her sweater. She made it herself, and the quality was quite good. It was purple, of course, with real, blinking Christmas lights in red, yellow, and green. It also had Santa dressed like a 80s metal band rockstar, and said, "Have a rockin' good Christmas!"

Tim and Bernard arrived next. Bernard's sweater was a Freddy Kreuger Christmas sweater, and Tim's was "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"-themed. (Complete with Grandma face down with reindeer tracks across her back.)

"Timbo, you're definitely in the lead for ugliest sweater, depending on what Damian, Duke, and Jason come up with."

Duke came in just then, as if on cue. His sweater was green, with gold tinsel and purple and blue ornaments hanging off of it. It had a hood too, shaped like the top of a tree, complete with a giant star on top. It was pretty horrible.

Damian and Titus came in next. Titus had on a beautiful argyle sweater, because apparently Damian's dog was too good for ugliness. Damian's sweater on the other hand, was truly ugly. It had mint green, fuchsia, teal, yellow, and black stripes, with a hideous Krampus on the front and back.

"Wow, Damian. That is absolutely the ugliest sweater I've ever seen."

The teen beamed. "Thanks, Grayson. I plan on winning this year."

"Well, you'll have to wait for Jason and see what nightmare-fuel of a sweater he found, but you have my vote."

"Pennyworth spoke to him about ugly vs. inappropriate, so we'll see. Todd isn't getting that prize this year."

Bruce heard the door again. He didn't hear Alfred chewing Jason out, so it must not be too bad. Then he heard...

"Sorry, Al. You told me if I wanted to wear an ugly sweater to wear one with a picture of me on it. I'm just following your rules."

Bruce heard Alfred sigh, and his pulse instantly started to increase. It must be bad. Maybe he could escape.

A moment later, Jason came in. "Here's your winner, bi-otches!"

Bruce looked at Jason's shirt, then closed his eyes. He was hoping he imagined it, but when he opened his eyes again, it was true. All the kids spoke at once.

"Seriously, Jay?"

"Oh. Em. Gee."

"Is that what I think it is?"

"No way, Todd! That has to be disqualified! This year is mine!"

"Not cool, brother. Not cool."

"Sorry, Bernard. I warned you my family's a bit crazy. Some more than others."

Finally Bruce found his voice. "Jason. Is that your autopsy photo on your sweater?"

A/N:

Hey guys, wow, apologies for how long it has been but I have a seriously good excuse! I really haven't been well. In fact I just came home after four days in the hospital having blood transfusions and a minor procedure! I'm still not quite 100% back up to my usual pain-addled self, but I am definitely better than I was. Basically, and incredibly long story made short, I had been unable to barely move since last week with high heart rate, gasping for breath on moving, called an ambulance Sunday AND Tuesday, was gaslit by paramedics and my doctor, and put my foot down and demanded to be taken to the emergency room. Good thing I did! I had been having bleeding for over five years that the doctor had ignored every single time I brought it up, and my haemoglobin level, well, seriously low is classed as 70-80. Mine was 63! So yeah, 2 emergency transfusions, a minor procedure to stop the bleeding, four days in hospital, a leak in a transfusion, three days on only clear fluids and days where they forgot I could actually eat, that's just the tip of the iceberg! I wondered why my makeup no longer matched my skin tone and it was because I was YELLOW!

Anyway. home again now to recover, what a way to spend my girls' last half term of the school year until they finish in July! To think in the Easter hols I had covid, and now this! I'm no longer making any plans for school breaks because I seem to be getting more ill with each passing one!

‘Blood spurts forth from the wound, spraying the nearest to the corpse, that’s you, Allura, and you Keith.  Luckily you were both standing otherwise it would have been more than your boots that received a new paint job!’  Coran announced cheerily as everyone looked at Shiro in shock.

‘What?  It’s right here on my character sheet!  I’m a bloodthirsty master thief!’  He tapped on the screen a few times to demonstrate.  ‘Of course, if you’d let me reroll…’

‘No!’  Coran, Lance, and Allura yelled as one, not having realised the lengths Shiro was willing to go to to try and be a paladin again.

‘Okay, but I’m not going to pull any punches.’  Shiro leaned back in his seat and folded his arms.

‘Good!  The point in you having a character that contrasts with your own is that you get to act in ways you wouldn’t normally.  Just like Lance being polite to Keith, and Pidge being ladylike.’

‘You are so lucky she can’t hear you.’  Allura shook her head.

‘Well, she’s going to have to now.  It’s time I took the story back to her.’  Coran rapped his knuckles on the bubble surrounding Pidge, who was happily sitting crosslegged finishing off her nachos.

She glanced up with a look Keith recognised, she had zoned out on what was going on around her and zoned in on whatever she was working on on the tablet.  The bubble disappeared with a bloop as she tapped on her wrist computer.  ‘Did we win?’

‘Not yet.  We’re going back to you now.’  Coran scrolled to a hastily put together page on his tablet.

‘Wait.’  Keith said before she activated her bubble again and picked up a napkin.  He carefully wiped the corner of Pidge’s lip where she had a little soured cream.  ‘Now you’re good.’  He smiled at her as the rest of the table watched her cheeks turn brightest red.

‘Thanks.’  She murmured, the bubble popping into existence between them as though it could shield her embarrassment.

‘Now, where were we?’

‘We?  No, me and Keith weren’t anywhere!  Why would you say that?’  She laughed nervously.

‘I mean, where were you in your adventure.  We as in you and me as player and monster master.’  Coran leaned towards her, under the pretence of seeing if she understood that was what he meant but hoping to get a glimpse of her changes.

‘Right!’  Pidge clutched the tablet to her chest protectively.  ‘So, that light I was following was coming closer?’
