That's a decrease on most metrics, but my word count is very comparable to last year, and I had no idea my subscription count had broken 200! Cool! Especially as I wrote some kind of out there fics this year, I'm very touched by that people want to stick around. I feel like I also do kind of absurdly well for comments, so thank you guys for that.

Fun Stats: 

Fics Published: 25, including one on anon, for 186,620. This is down from last year's 31, but my word count last year was 198,621, so we're pretty damn close!

Number of One-Shots: 22— It was another year of going hard on exchanges, and that encourages one-shots! Of those, 14 were under five thousand words, so I'm pretty pleased with my objective of learning to write short was actually enacted, when I was experiencing deadline pressure!

Number of Multi-Chapters: 3 total, and one still unfinished. I didn't start any new ongoings and leave them unfinished this year, but I still have multiple languishing from 2022, and I didn't finish the one of those I was working on this year, so— augh. I need to stop doing events and finish some of those ongoings! But events are so good...

Number of Inspired Works: 3, because I participated in recursive exchange, where you write fic inspired by other people's fic and art! One of those was inspired by an animation, which I'm very proud of.

Longest Fic: You Blew Me Into Stardust (42,846 words), my beloved mech au. I did two fics for the aufest reverse bang, I also wrote Trying Hard Not To Smile Though I Feel Bad (16,254 words) for Aufest, which is a college au! The minimum for that event was 5k so I— went overboard a bit.

Shortest Fic: I just posted it actually, that's How To Make The Secret City’s Speciality Dessert - Roasted Brown Sugar Oranges And Buttermilk Ice Cream  (912 words), that's a zine fic where we had a 1250 word maximum! I love this fic, and I'm so proud that I managed something short.

Most Kudosed Fic: Gonna Have It Out Like Fight Club, which is a bit unfair because that one has been acquiring kudos since 2022, and is now at 213 kudos. My poor neglected child the mafia fic I HAVE THE REST OF THE FIC OUTLINED I just keep writing things for events instead of writing you.

Most Viewed Fic: That's Gonna Have It Out Like Fight Club, with 2,220, but again a bunch of those are from last year, so probably my biggest fic is Trying Hard Not To Smile Though I Feel Bad, my 13-things-I-hate-about-you Niki & Ranboo au, at 1,457 hits. That one I honestly did not expect to get as big as it did, but I guess people like the comedy.

Most Subscribed Fic: Gonna Have It Out Like Fight Club, with 82 people wanting to know how that one ends. I"M SORRY. I"LL FINISH IT I PROMISE. I did notice my subscriptions to fics overall fell— people were still subscribing to one-shots last year, and this year I guess people realized that was not panning out.  

Most Bookmarked Fic: okay so it LOOKS like it's Gonna Have It Out Like Fight Club at 73 but I can count dates so I can tell that only 28 of those are from this year, wait I forgot about private bookmarks. Hm. Well anyways the one I'm sure was bookmarked this year was Things Could Be So Easy (If You Let Them), my first real intentional shot at writing QPR emduo with a proposal, and boy having THAT unlocked was a delight. That one has 52 bookmarks.

Most Used Fandom: Dream SMP with 13 fics, and SMPEarth in second place with 5. I wrote 9 different fandoms this year, technically.

Least Used Fandom: this is A MULTIWAY Tie as Internet & Social Media (Anthropomorphic), Murderbot Diaries, Books of the Raksura, Original Work, Origins SMP, and Parkour Civilization are all at 1 fic.

Most Used Rating: Teen, 18 fics. I wrote my first two explicit fics this year, both for exchanges!

Last Update of 2024

Hello, everyone! The year where I’ve come back is coming to an end and High School Revenge, unfortunately, is nowhere near the end haha.

I’m going to start this update by thanking everyone for the continued support, it’s amazing to see so many people from back in 2018 still coming back here to check on the story and to see so many new readers invested in my characters. Hopefully in 2025 I’ll push a bit harder than I did this last month and we’ll maybe finish more than one chapter haha. I would also like for our MC to get revenge at least on one of the characters, a semi-big one at least, in the near future…

In theory things should get simpler for future chapters, since I’ll still use many of the events from this chapter and many things that I wrote now will come up later, so that’s gonna be really nice. I’ve also noticed I haven’t played the game myself in a long time, so first thing I’ll do after finishing this chapter is actually reading my own story haha.

To celebrate a bit, here’s a list of all the stuff I’ve written and done this year since coming back, just so I can feel better about it all and not feel like the lazy writer that I know I am:

Chapter 1 – Rewritten a bunch of stuff (18 year old me didn’t do English that well…) – Made Olivia try to stop you from jumping right into the Tragedy – MC’s head now bleeds after being hit with a metallic crown (yikes) – Connor now manipulates MC into feeling accepted by the group

Chapter 2 – Choice to change pronouns and/or transition to a different gender (making dad 1 hate you, yikes…) – Created hobby skill stats (I forgot these didn’t exist) – Become financially independent (kinda…) – Recruit both Angela and Marcus (you could only recruit one. Yikes…) – Extra week for preparation – Colored contacts for eyes – Sexuality and romantic experience choice – Nice little comments if you choose the same family name as one of your other fathers – Choose if you’re a smoker (most important choice here)

Chapter 3 – Chapter 3! This was not a thing before my unfortunate disappearance! Funny thing, the conversation with Michael was already written before my death, but I got very annoyed with the choices I wrote. I allowed you to punch Michael in the face, which resulted in a really weird start for the game. When I saw how weird everything went, I gave up. When I came back, I killed the idea completely. Maybe we can punch him at the start in a DLC… – Rewrites over rewrites. – The first hobby events! – The first meetings with all of the ROs!

Chapter 4 – Too much to write down… Short of it would be: – Relationship events with all ROs – Second hobby event, first chance to ruin your targets’ private life! – Random events! – Burt can stalk people now! (yikes…) – You go to a party and stuff happens! – You can learn one of Connor’s and Michael’s secrets! – You can campaign to become homecoming royalty! – You can ask most of the ROs to homecoming! (I’ll finish this, I promise) – Marcus is much more useful as an ally than Angela! (she’ll get her chance to shine, don’t worry Angela-mancers)

Anyway, more words might have been written, but I forgot. I came back at the end of March, so it’s been 9 months. Pretty crazy stuff. Thanks again for all the support, let’s make 2025 the year we finally get revenge and live out our sick fantasies (and likely feel bad about it afterwards…).

just found your blog and so far your IF sounds really interesting. i was so intrigued, that i was searching or the link to the demo, only to realize, that it doesnt exist yet.

when first realizing, that Mc is weaker than the RO´s/most other people i had 2 thoughts: a) wouldnt a (investigative journalist) MC already crafted a safety net for themselfs consisting of dirt, secrets, blackmail and whistleblowers, who would publish those informations incase of MC´s demsie? [under the assumption, that we play as an MC that is already an establish investigative journalist in the city]; and b) i envisioned the following scene => MC got kidnapped and ready to get killed. a higher up then asks for MC´s last words, to which they just say a date. after seconds of silence, MC is let go. congrats, you have a scene, where a regular human has a badass moment.

now to my questions:

depending on MC´s occupation, will there be "special" flavour scenes OR dialogue choices, that are only avaiable with the specific occupations? ==> e.g. someone needs secrets to blackmail someone, will there be a choice only avaiable for the investigative journalist, like "i already have what you want, but it will cost something"

can you tell some more details about how the story construct will look like? what i mean is: => will there be multiple endings; will there be special endings for each RO when in a realtionship with them (criminal powercouple MCxLuz *wink wink*); will there be good and evil endings/paths => will there be stats and if so: how much will they influence? only flavoure text or locking you out of choices? => etc.

do you plan to introduce all RO´s in the prologue/chapter 1? or will some only appear in later chapters for the first time?

you mentioned that each career background would have advantages and setbacks. could you share (some) advantages of each one? i personally cant see a difference between investigative journalist and whistleblower (in terms of different advantages) for example

i was on the fence interms of which RO to choose. it was either E or Luz. the most recent ask about the MCxLuz power couple swayed me in the end towards Luz. this question i ask for your opinion as the author: if i want to romance Luz and (if possible) get the criminal powercouple ending, what would you say would be the "best" (lorewise/storywise/additional scenes;flavourtext;etc) career background for MC?

anyways, im really excited for the release of the prologue/chapter 1 and thanky our for your answers.

I love your enthusiasm and your questions! Since this is rather long you'll find the answers under the cut:

a) Yes MC is already well known in Sordia and has a safety net the player can decide if they've good morals for a journalist or are a little corrupted. Some people will depend on the career background.

b) Yep you got it right! MC is not dumb and needs to plan beforehand 🙂‍↕️

Question 1:

Yes depending on MC´s career background, there will be special flavour scenes, skills and dialogue choices, that are only avaiable with the specific occupation

Question 2:

There will be multiple endings career wise and RO wise. Bad endings, neutral endings, somehow good endings you name it.

Still not 100% sure about all the stats but there will be a reputation stat, paranoia stat, personality stat based on MCs base personality, morality stat, vices, relationships. I don't know how much they'll influence since I need to see how this works coding wise. But yes I would like it to impact flavour text, choices etc.

Question 3:

No. Prologue is Mauds POV. Chap 1 you'll be able to meet Ace and the rest of the RO's in Chap 2.

Question 4:

Okay so this can still change but basically MCs writing and reporting style will differ a little. And they'll get a special trait and skill. I don't have my notes with me so I think it was:

Investigative Journalist

Trait: Stubborn or Methodical

Skill: Research & Investigation (sees connections faster and doesn't miss clues) but people hunt their contacts and paranoia stat is higher

Whistleblower

Trait: Relentless or Arrogant

Skill: Insider Access/Information Networks (through hacking) but corruption stat is higher and you start with a very bad reputation stat since no one likes a Whistleblower in Sordia

War Correspondent

Trait: Hardened

Skill: Knows Self-Defense Moves (has a better reputation) but can be too reckless (gets scars, hurt or can die easier)

Tabloid Reporter

Trait: Manipulative

Skill: Persuasion can make people talk easier but is seen as untrustworty (bad reputation)

Question 5:

Honestly every character will react differently and have their opinions sure but I don't think they necessarily have a fave. There isn't a best option story lore wise etc. since I'm aiming for equal representation. MC is the face of lots of news. The articles they write and report will differ but in the main story MC will need to investigate about those 12 photos.

You pushed your hair out of your face as you brought another bite of food to your mouth.

“So, I… ran into Iida Tenya today.”

You were sitting in a borrowed office chair in the teacher’s lounge with your dads, the three of you taking a lunch break together. Technically you weren’t supposed to be in there, but your dads said it was fine, so if anyone asked had a teacher’s pass, or whatever.

“Ohhhhh Tensei’s brother! You guys were friends when you were younger!” Hizashi leaned back as he recalled details from you and Tenya’s playdates, hands gesturing emphatically, then went off on a tangent about crazy stories from when he, Aizawa and Tensei were working together as new heroes. You and Aizawa ate quietly, letting him talk for both of you.

“Anyways, how’d it go running into your old friend again?”

“Well, uh…”

The memory was still fresh in your mind, having taken place just hours before.

You were standing up and grabbing your bag, about to run off to the next class after homeroom, when you were all but thrown back into your seat from the blue-haired boy sitting next to you elbowing you while throwing supplies in his bag.

“Ah! I sincerely apologize—”

He scanned your face, recognition washing over his own. The two of you had never been very friendly, and it seems it was about to show in front of class 1a.

His friendly facial expression dropped, eyes narrowing to a gaze that could freeze you to death. He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose with his pointer finger.

“Y/n. It’s been a while.”

Denki looked between the two of you in confusion. He didn’t say anything, letting the situation explain itself as the two of you kept talking.

“Tenya. It sure has.” He had changed so much since you were younger, but at the same time it felt like he hadn’t changed at all.

You didn’t exactly get along very well when you were little. The two of you were always fighting for control, and often snapped at eachother for not following certain “rules” you come up with that you wanted everyone to follow. You both always wanted to be the most mature, most responsible, most intelligent, and most skilled people in the room. The best.

Apparently, what hadn’t been resolved during your childhood had been carried into your teenage years. From the moment your eyes met in class 1a, you knew that he would be your biggest competitor and rival indefinitely, until one of you proved to be better.

“You haven’t changed much since we last saw eachother. We were 10 years old, I remember it clearly. You very much resemble your father, Mr. Aizawa.”

Denki shuddered behind you. He’s never heard a voice so cold come out of Iida, it was dripping with disdain.

You were unfazed. You hadn’t blinked since the beginning of the conversation.

“You haven’t changed much either. Like, it’s insane how much you look the same as 5 years ago. You look just like your brother, Tensei.”

You stared at eachother for a minute longer, trying to force the other one to break eye contact. It was futile, neither one of you wanted to back down, so you just sighed and stood up with your bag slung over your shoulder, slouching forward with fatigue. Tenya wordlessly marched out of the classroom on his way to the next class.

The interaction left your body crawling with irritation and a rivalrous spirit, so when Denki put his hand on your shoulder from behind you shoved it off and turned to face him with a glare.

“What the hell do you want, Kaminari.” A vicious snarl took over your voice.

He was fearless in the face of your anger; or perhaps just very, very stupid.

“Man, what is this beef you have with engine legs? I would say ‘making enemies already’, but it sounds like you’ve been enemies for a while.”

You scoff and turn on your heel, walking out the door.

“Why don’t you stay out of it, piss hair.”

Bakugou’s laughter echoed through the hallway, you could hear him cackling at the nickname as you walked away.

“PISS HAIR! OH MY GOD I’M GONNA CALL YOU THAT FOREVER DUNCE FACE!”

You bristled at bakugou’s voice. You put in earphones and blasted music on full volume while walking, trying to escape the sound of his laugh that started drawing random students to the classroom door, curious about what could cause such a reaction.

You grip your phone hard, skipping through your playlist with your face scrunched tightly. You didn’t mean to snap at Denki like that. You were shaken up from your reunion with Tenya, and he annoyed you earlier, so you took out your frustration from him in front of everyone. Maybe he deserves it for pushing you earlier, but you regret how you acted. You were lost in thought as you walked away from the classroom, and you were lost in thought now sitting in the teacher’s lounge, overthinking your overthinking.

A startling buzz from some machinery in an another room coming to life filled your ears, bringing you back to the present moment. You twist the cap off a water bottle as you try to think of an answer to Hizashi’s question.

“…I don’t think he likes me very much.”

“Whaaaaat?! What makes you that?”

Hizashi leaned forward over the table and you had to pause again to think about how to answer.

“Well, uh, we never really got along when we were younger. We were both too competitive for eachother.” You picked at your food. More than half of it was left, even though lunch hour was almost over. “We’re both still really competitive. It might cause problems.”

Hizashi hummed in understanding. You were about to say something else, but Aizawa beat you to it.

“You didn’t finish your food, y/n.” He pointed out with a strict tone laced with concern.

You shrunk in on yourself, slouching over the container of food in your lap.

“Yeah… I’m not very hungry right now… I’ll finish it after school, though.” You made an empty promise. You knew that it would end up in the fridge for days, weeks even, before going bad and being thrown away. 

You tried to eat more, you really really tried, but nausea turned your stomach over whenever you even caught sight of food. At this point it’s not even a battle of eating healthy, it’s a battle of eating anything at all.

Aizawa sighed heavily, putting his empty food container on the table.

“You’re gonna die one day from how much you do and how little you eat to fuel it. You know that right?”

You groaned and placed your half-full container on the table as well, finally accepting that you can’t finish it.

“Yeah.” You crossed your arms over your stomach, wanting to say something more but having no idea what you could say.

Aizawa put a hand on his forehead. “Fine. As long as you know it.”

Hizashi put a hand on Aizawa’s back. “You know, in her defense, sweetheart, she actually is getting a lot better. It’s true she’s nowhere near healthy, but she’s doing better.” Aizawa visibly relaxed from his words and actions. You hugged yourself more, pushing away thoughts of when you couldn’t handle eating anything at all.

“You’re right, you’re right. I wish you took care of yourself more, y/n, but you are doing better.”

“Thanks. I like being better. Lot less painful.”

“How many bites did you take? Tomorrow I want you to take one bite more. It’s going to be graded.”

“Nooooo not the grades assignments already…”

Aizawa laughed at your whining. Conversations about your eating habits were always hard ones to have, and you avoided them as much as possible.

“So, other than your emotional reunion with Tenya, in which the emotions are ones of conflict and aggression, how has your day gone so far?” Hizashi steered the conversation back to an easier place.

“Other than that, uneventful. My classmates are idiots, though.”

Aizawa groaned loudly and leaned all the way back. “You’re tellin’ me. I can already feel how many aneurysms I’ll have from teaching this class just by looking at their faces.”

Hizashi leaned into him, giggling now. “How many of them are you gonna expel Eraserhead?”

“How many? All but one.”

You put your hands on your cheeks and put on a cute voice. “Awww dad you’re gonna let me stay in your class? That’s so sweet!”

“Nah. I’m keeping Yaoyorozu. You can leave.” He shooed you with his hand jokingly and let his head rest on Hizashi’s shoulder.

You put a hand on your chest, gasping with feigned heartbreak. “My father is so cruel to me!”

From that point, the teacher’s lounge was filled with laughter coming from the three of you bouncing jokes off eachother until lunch hour was over. You entered your next class with a recharged social battery from talking with your dads. As long as you have them, you can get through whatever shit U.A. has to throw at you.

As a fun thought experiment I have been thinking about how to cut the subclasses for each class in Arknights down to 3 each, just for fun. But then I went down the rabbit hole of how to adjust operators to account for their subclass no longer existing.

I am willing to elaborate on any of my reasonings but I will not write all of it in this post because it was just a fun thought experiment that will never affect anything and reading all my reasoning might be kinda boring. With that said;

Caster: Mech-Accord, Phalanx, Mystic Defender: Protector, Guardian, Sentinel Guard: Swordmaster, Lord, Crusher Sniper: Marksman, Hunter, Artilleryman Medic: Incantation, "Surgeon" (formerly medic), Chain Specialist: Shifter (cheated and merged hookmasters and push-strokers), Ambusher, Alchemist (mostly to account for other cuts) Supporter: Decel-Binder, Hexer, Artificer Vanguard: Agent, Tactician, Flag-Bearer

Wont go into all of them but essentially I wanted the classes to have less direct overlap so all guards with 3 block are out. I also wanted to avoid enmity operators so medics are always valuable. Core caster is out cause it doesnt really do anything particularily interesting and not all classes have a baseline subclass. For example guards and specialists both lack that. Vanguards I cut pioneers to keep the divisions between the melee classes clearer, one could make an argument for keeping them over tacticians since now with some of the cheapest guard variants out of the way pioneers might be more valuable, I would agree with that but I wanted to keep a summoner type and was not gonna keep summoner, maybe trade artificers for summoners if so. Another possible adjustment is dropping flag-bearers for pioneers though. Chargers were never really on the table since their skills dont make DP. Keeping agents made dropping merchants and executors an obvious choice. Guards I agonized over whether to go for crushers or earthshakers but honestly crushers are just better designed and they have overlap with dreadnoughts too so it is kind of like keeping both dreadnoughts and centurions but not really.

For some of the operators the changes I had in mind, also in this hypothetical I imagine class changing is just a thing instead of alters and that everyone is somewhere in between a 5 star and 6 star (two talents and 3 skills but probably lower in power to average 6 star power) because if I had to think about how to maximize profitability for this fun thought experiment id actually bore myself out.

Anyway some of the changes. Guardmiya is obviously a swordmaster since she copied Ch´en´s techniques. This of course means a more burst reliant playstyle so she doesnt get the on skill buff stats more thing, instead one talent prolly just keeping emotion eater and one being that she has some dodge chance. To still convey her team player aspects one of her skills would apply arts fragility and one regular fragility.... last one? Fear. Fear is honestly a debuff that feels like designed for Amiya with how we see her use her powers in some chapters but it was made after that point so she will never get it probably, unless she gets a hexer variant down the line or something. Which id be all for.

Wis´adel is now a mech-accord caster, I do like her summons but I couldnt think of how to neatly make them fit a mech accord caster kit so her first talent with the afterimages is basically the same but her second talent is that she has some dodge chance and that enemies with a drone locked on has reduced accuracy (the drones are obviously the ancestor launchers).

Surtr is now a crusher because her sword is comically huge. She still gets her "nu-uh I dont die" talent but since she no longer only does arts damage she loses the res ignore for instead getting a stacking atk and defense buff based on how low her health gets.

Blaze was the hardest to figure out of the ones I cared to think about, in the end I decided she is a swordmaster (still uses a chainsaw though) because it felt appropriate for Blaze to require violence for maximum effect. This does ironically make her go from the afk operator to ability spam but I think it fits her well.

Ifrit and Rosmontis are both alchemists but for different reasons. Rosmontis cause alchemists have a lot in common with flingers anyway and flingers are gone now. Ifrit because I couldnt think of how to convey her flamethrower so eventually I decided she instead throws flaming canisters.

Anyway this does not really matter, I felt like writing it down because I have been thinking about this a lot. Feel free to ask about anything with this idea, or to theorycraft your own takes on how some operators would be adjusted to account for these changes. Or to question my choices of what subclasses I decided to keep. Or just ask for clarification on the reasoning.

I'm gonna post some snippets from the year under the cut!

January - Finished editing Draft 15 of TBW, and workshopped it with my critique group. In January in specific, it was mostly writing the last chapter. Here's some content from then: Nathaniel and Riela in the hospital after all the shit went down.

For those of you who are newer, TBW is something I've been working on for ages with my co-writer. (If the number of drafts isn't any clue.) But we're 10+ years now. Anticipate seeing more of it as we're probably going to try to do revisions again this coming year.

February - Did some revisions on Heist. Honestly, it was nothing major because I spent that month packing (for a move that never ended up happening -_-) Here's a conversation I was tweaking at the time, having already rewritten the first few chapters of Heist in 2023. (Also this says Draft 3, but it was really more like Draft 2.5. This content is now in Chapter 5.)

Heist is a staple you've all seen me talk about I'm sure! It's set in the same universe as TBW, but with different MCs. I started it in 2022, started Draft 3 in late 2023, and as you'll see, started Draft 4 in late 2024. Still, I'm loving how it's all coming together!

March - Revising stuff in the first 5 chapters of Heist Draft 3. Some content from that time for you: Lelia and Ronan talking!

April - I'd made it through 15 Chapters of Heist Draft 3. However, midway through the month, I had some Life Happen, and stepped away from Heist for Reasons. I'll share some snippets from those works too. Here's a new Em and Vinny conversation that I wrote during that time.

April Part 2 - Due to Grief reasons, I ended up rereading most of CTQ, which is my GriefWIP™, and expanded on one of the scenes for a flashfic contest at that time, now in second person!

April Part 3 - I also ended up working on Aftermath, another Grief WIP. Which did not actually start as a WIP about grief... but I suppose when the premise is surviving after overthrowing an evil dictator, I can see how it went that way.

May - I started working more on Heist again, and got through 22 whole chapters! Some content for the time: the Jam Session!

June - I got Heist up to 34 chapters! Have some theology! It was very hard to find a snippet that was new content compared to the previous draft but also was not a blatant spoiler.

July - I got Heist up to 35 chapters, but then got stuck. Yes, this snippet says it's from Chapter 36 and that's because later I went back and added a chapter (and also had to restructure this whole area of the WIP.) New content: Lelia and Marcella conversation!

July Part 2 - I started working on my Dragon Age fanfic. The premise being that all the origin characters survive and join the party (though not as Grey Wardens.)

August - Heist revisions looked a lot like I didn't know how to number chapters at the time. Chapter 34, Chapter 35, Chapter 36, Chapter 35, Chapter 35, Chapter 36, Chapter 37..... Anyway, this is when I went back and added a chapter that fixed the problem I'd been having. So here, have Lelia and Ronan talking!

August Part 2 - While all that was going on, I also put another 10k into my WardenWIP.

August Part 3 - I also wrote a crossover fic with @rarmaster. This was an "ending" of sorts for two characters from our respective Kingdom Hearts fanfics.

Premise: The Riku Replica survived Chain of Memories by going to another universe. Years later, he and Namine talk about how they made it.

August Part 4 - Lastly, I wrote a thinly veiled Dragon Age fanfic, modeled after the Urn of Sacred Ashes trailer.

September - I got Heist up to 44 chapters and wrote one of my favorite sequences ever!

September Part 2 - I also wrote another 20k of WardenWIP.

October - Finished Draft 3 of Heist! Then I kind of just rested. (As was my right.)

November - I worked on worldbuilding documents, both my encyclopedia and my history doc.

Working on the Magic Encyclopedia was something that's a long-time coming. There's a very in-depth magic system for the world of Tyrysius, and half of drafting up an encyclopedia for how magic works is so that way we can minimize contradictions! I expect to go back to it in 2025 and continue fleshing it out.

November Part 2 - Working on the History document was good for nailing down what has transpired since the cataclysm 1200 years ago, what nations have risen and fallen, what technology has done, and plenty else. I anticipate working on this more in 2025 as well.

November Part 3 - I also spent a lot of time working how Draft 4 of Heist was going to come together because I already had ideas for revisions and the motivation to do them.

But, one of the benefits of being known as the drunken god is that none of the other gods think you can make up a plan.” “Yeah but there are other gods of alcohol.” “Everyone knows Adelus can’t plan! Even still, Shierdi thinks I’m more of a drunk than he is.”

December - Dove into Heist Draft 4! Have a snippet of a new conversation between Vinny and Em, that recycles dialogue from a scene with Lelia and Em that got cut.

December Part 2 - Also I started writing another crossover scene. The premise of this one is that Xion decides the Riku Replica is her little brother. It was rar's idea.

“Sister?”  She giggled. “Yeah.”  He blinked and mouthed the word again, as if tasting it on his tongue. His eyes lit up and he smiled. “Sure,” he laughed. “Why not? Why can’t my family get ridiculously bigger?” “That’s the spirit!” she said. “Want to go get ice cream?”  

That has not really gone anywhere yet, but I needed to get the initial dialogue out of my head.

Anyway, yeah, that was 2024 was a lot of writing. Here's to a good 2025!

so the way endings in awakening work is a bit off if you have the gay mod because it reads single people normally, but married people have the man’s ending read, and then his wife just. attached. and so that alters which ending you see for both of them. unfortunately, that means if i have f/f pairs, which most of them were, i dont get to see any because none of them were read. and at least with the second gen, i did almost entirely f/f pairs, which dont show up, or m/m pairs, which had nothing written, so. everyone please give it up for gerome and cynthia, the only second gen ending i got to see!

awakening lunatic sucks! but project thabes makes it suck a little less. in all honesty i had a lot of fun, awakenings a good game to revisit, and finding a way to make it challenging while being able to use my favorite units (awakening second gen) ever was awesome. normally having all 13 (or 14 in this case, with both morgans) would break the game, but lunatic kept the enemies strong, so it didnt matter what my units had. i actually got overwhelmed a lot 😭 HUGE difficulty jump between hard and lunatic all i’m saying. and then the games like “hey now u have lunatic+ if that interests you” NOOOOO THANKS.

anyways. here are my top three guys according to the medal thingies at the end

im so proud of them :3 of all the kids really but yeah these three were huge standouts. virion actually got a change in the mod where one of his subclasses was swapped for myrmidon, so yarne got to inherit astra which was actually insane? it procced ALL THE TIME so. that was crazy. chrom!inigo and fred!cynthia are always good thats not new but they were really clutch in the last few chapters. i had them both hopping around classes for most of the game bc thabes redoes skill progression so. IT TOOK CYNTHIA SO LONG TO LEARN LUNA. ITS FROM WYVERN LORD. GOD. she went through a LOT of classes yall dont even know. also honorable mention to marc and morgan, the best rallybots ever, and dancer lucina, who was outserving everyone she was in a scene with. my girl.

anyways so for second gen pairs i did: lucina/f!morgan, owain/m!morgan, inigo/laurent, yarne/brady, severa/kjelle, nah/noire, and cynthia/gerome and you know what. i think i have a great taste. a lot of these were born from being unable to do other pairings but thats ok. i liked how it turned out. though i was gonna do nah/noire anyways because they were actually like. an insane duo. honestly im surprised noire didnt get a medal thing bc i feel like her nostanking with nah backing her up got me out of so much shit. maybe its because i didnt see her ending… oh. oh wait thats probably it. well. anyways.

i think awakening is not a properly balanced game, nor are the maps made for a difficulty like this. towards the end game especially, the maps are just. flat. most of them anyways, and they just become really repetitive and bland and boring. and despite this being the game with the tactician character of all the time, they dont really allow you flexible strategies, because if youre not pair up stat stacking, you will die! and that sucks. mid game is alright, but the last arc is really weak and kinda dampered my whole experience. im glad i did it, but i wouldnt actually reccomend it to anyone unless you like to play like that (which is totally fine! its just not my thing). definitely requires some solid planning as well. all in all, not the worst fire emblem ive played but… well. im not doing it again. ok anyways heres inigo mouthing off at grima

Hey new fan here! Just finished all 12 chapters of “I Will Follow You into the Dark” and was curious if you ever plan on getting back to it? If not totally cool! I’ve loved everything else you’ve written but I’m just curious! It’s one of my favorite pieces of fanfic I’ve ever read!

First off, thank you so very much for reading and letting me know you enjoy my fics! I know it's not the most mainstream ship, so it feels extra special to me every time someone connects with any of my works! 😊

Okay, now onto the meat and potatoes: My "Sweeter Than Heaven, Hotter Than Hell" series is far and beyond the work I'm most emotionally invested in, not only because it had rotted in my brain for almost three years before I actually started writing it, but because (underneath the copious amounts of filthy fucking smut) it's what makes The Last of Us so special to me -- Joel and Ellie taking on the world together. These two are the heart and soul of the franchise and this is the hill I will be buried on.

Currently there are 3 major reasons why it is STILL on hiatus:

1. I need to replay Part 2.

"I Will Follow You into the Dark" is more or less a part 2 canon divergent rewrite, and while it's far and away from a scene-by-scene retelling, there are some setting details I want to get right in my descriptions. Oh, and nailing the overall tone of the game as far as dread and rage going forward in the story is extremely important to me.

I started and abandoned the second game a few times last year 🙃 BUT I'm happy to say this time around I'm playing it with an emotional support friend who I can trade the controller off to when things start getting too intense (sidenote: the jump from part 1 infected to part 2 infected is HORRIFYING, why do they sound like that??? 😩) We actually just left off in the game where a lot of chapter 13 will take place: the TV station in Seattle. Soooo progress? I'm getting there!

2. Re-reading/editing all 100,816k words I've posted so far.

As much as I adore this series, most of it was not beta read, and coming across mistakes I've made on work I've already posted is literally mortifying. Now that season 2 has started, I'm sooo tempted to just pick it up again without revisiting it, but there are chunks of it missing my from memory so I'm a bit wary. Last month I had a commenter say something like "I loved when *this* happened in chapter 9!" but l literally didn't remember it at all 😅😭 I'm torn on this one, honestly.

3. I want it to be ✨️perfect✨️.

Which is not possible. Logically, know this. Nothing is perfect. But GOD FUCKING DAMMIT I want it to be perfect so bad it's lowkey paralyzing. I think letting go of this a little bit and reminding myself that the point of writing (for me) is to get the fucking story out of my head and clear up space for other things. But also I am so unhealthily attached to this fic that it's gonna feel like a real loss when it's over...so maybe I am procrastinating a little. (A lot.)

Anyway, these are the main excuses reasons why it hasn't been updated in over a year. A lesser reason (that I'm almost tempted to omit because it's just so insanely small and petty) is that I had a massive reader drop-off after my first work that made me question my writing abilities. Obviously I write for myself first and foremost, but it was a disheartening shift when I felt like I was pouring so much of myself into it. I've since hidden my stats and just vibe off the sense of accomplishment and sweet as fuck comments/messages I receive 😘

Reading that "IWFYitD" is one of your favorite pieces ever??? So fucking motivating. Really kicked me in the ass. In the wise words of @typewriter83 -- "I write for myself and maybe 6 people". And I'm pretty damn lucky to count you among one of those hypothetical 6 😉

I'm sure you weren't expecting this word vomit of an essay, but I've honestly been wanting to post about this for a while now, and this question gave me the perfect opportunity to get it all out! As far as physical progress, I have chapters 13&14 roughly written, and I remember exactly where I left things off in chapter 15. I don't plan on ever abandoning it completely.

Lastly, can I just say the way you went about asking was so respectful and kind, it warms my heart? 🥹 Seriously, you're so sweet; reading this felt like eating cotton candy 💖 Have the wonderful morning, day, and night you deserve!!!

Law’s End: I call this a project, not just a new story because it was supposed to be a bit more far-reaching than just a story with character profiles, mock news articles, and multiple episodes. So far there are two character profiles (graphics for that by @harleybeaumont), one article, and many fabulous extras made by @secretaryunpaid. I am working on wrapping up episode one. Once the question of who killed Trent is answered, episode two will move on to a new mystery, while still focusing on the relationships between the main characters.

Word Warriors: Again, this is more than just a blog. It’s a Discord group, live discussions, a peer support group, and a critique group. The blog itself provides a list of writing resources and advice in addition to information about the Discord group, the live discussion schedule, and notes from past sessions.

Cordonia Royal Airlines: This is more of a collaborative project than a series. There will eventually be images posted as well as drabbles, one-shots, and chapters written by other contributors. (That’s the plan anyway.)

Personal Milestones Passed:

Published my first book in February.

Blog Shut Down:

Who could forget the infamous blog shutdown of 2023? It went down on July 25th and didn’t come back up until August 29th. Well, maybe everyone but me could forget it. I was in withdrawal lol. Five weeks of being mostly off Tumblr forced me to examine and reevaluate a lot of things. And even though I was thrilled to finally be unblocked, things aren’t the same. And that’s okay. Things change, life marches on.

I am by no means saying I’m out of here. Never fear. As long as I have fanfiction to write, I suppose I’ll be posting it here. I just feel less and less like working on my TRR stuff. I still want to finish the series I’ve started, and I’ve found I still have plenty of ideas for one-shots or short miniseries, but I’m not sure I have another epic, long TRR saga in me. Who knows, though? I’ve said that before and been proven wrong. I don’t control when inspiration happens or where the muse takes me.

I don’t know the fate of all those side blogs yet. Since I recently reorganized my master list, (yet again), I don’t know that they are needed. For now, they will remain as basically parking lots. Just a different way to organize my content.

The Rest of Tumblr:

2023 was the year I finally figured out how Tumblr works! I now understand the phrase shitposting on main. I discovered the rest of Tumblr, not just this little corner of it. From Goncharov to other fandoms to the existence of entire communities that I belong wholeheartedly to: Queer, neurodivergent, polyamorous, writers, etc. I found my people on this hell site.

What’s Next:

The Choices fandom will always have a special place in my heart, and I have made real, lifelong friends here and for that, I’ll always be grateful. My just over two years here have had their ups and downs for sure, but the ups far outweigh the downs. (If they didn’t, I would have left long ago).

Then there’s my original fiction. Long before I found Tumblr and got bitten by the fanfic bug, I was posting flash fic on my own website, saving short stories for submission to anthologies, and working on a few different original novels. I want to get back to that. Not to mention a lifetime worth of poetry that needs to be sorted, organized, and published.

All of the above may have to be put on hold as I navigate life with constant volleyball tournaments, a continuing search for the right second career, and a burgeoning business to manage and contend with. Not to mention a five-year-old with high energy, high needs, and high sensory-seeking behaviors. Life is complex on the best days.

Meanwhile, I’ve found that I really enjoy running the discussions for Word Warriors, giving feedback on other people’s work, and helping other writers on their journey. I can’t wait to get back to that in January.

I don’t know what 2024 holds but I am wishing the best for each and every one of you. Let life’s adventures continue!

I Was Bored Earlier This Week...

...and instead of doing anything productive, I poked at SToFLO's tags on AO3 for grins and giggles. Then I broke out the calculator because I am a dweeb. Here's some of the more interesting numbers.

The ATLA fandom on AO3 is rather large, of course, but I was impressed with how well SToFLO's stats held up. Top 4% for kudos, top 2% for hits and bookmarks, and, finally, the top 1% for comments! (The last one might actually be cheating a bit. I've had a few long conversations in the comments' section.) Now, to come back down to Earth, what that actually means is StoFLO was on pages 75 for kudos, 37 for hits, 31 for bookmarks, and 20 for comments. Heh, yeah, I don't think anyone will be finding the story without a bit more filtering.

On the other side of the spectrum, the "Ozai Dies" tag (or "Ozai is Deader than a Doornail" on SToFLO) is only 3 pages long with 57 works total at the time of my integer-based tomfoolery. And would you look at that! I managed to find a recognized tag on AO3 small enough that SToFLO is in the top 5 when sorted by bookmarks, kudos, comments, hits, and word count! I find this especially funny because I only added the tag as a clarification that the main character was not actually canon!Ozai.

Jumping back to that semi-inflated comments number, it snagged SToFLO places on page 2 of "Zuko-centric" and page 1 of both "Fire Lord Zuko" and "Fire Nation Royal Family."

Not too shabby, all things considered!

Anyway, when I was done with my nonsense calculations, I cleaned up the tags on the story and took the opportunity to add a few that were missing before. One casualty was my beloved "Updates at the Pace of my Capricious Muse" tag for an "Aiming for Monthly Updates" tag.

I've never actually held to a writing/posting schedule before, but I think it's about time I gave it a try. For a few reasons, not least of which is the sheer discrepancy of the amount I updated SToFLO in its first year compared to its second. I know monthly is a pretty slow update rate, but this is fanfic written in my spare time as a hobby; and, even as slow as monthly is, this last year I've actually been posting less than that. (I suppose if the extras in Folktales and Fables are counted, then it's roughly the same amount of chapters/content for the series as a whole as monthly posts would be, but still.)

I'm hoping to update SToFLO every 28th of the month from now on, so keep an eye out for the next chapter and I'll see you in about a week! Happy reading!

He unlocks the door thinking a little nonsensically about the buddy system. We have to stick together, he thinks as Buck moves immediately to the heating controls, turning the AC on with a familiar clank-hum, it’s safer that way. Buck turns to face him, opens his mouth to say something but then Eddie is there, closing the distance, kissing him. We have to stick together Buck’s lips are warm so we won’t get lost and the noise he makes isn’t as surprised as it maybe should be so we can take care of each other but he still pulls back it’s safer, please, it’s safer this way.

Eddie should know better. Buck’s known for awhile. Maddie learns something new.

Eddie wants to scream. Eddie wants to talk to Buck. There are questions he should ask - Do you know when the bleeding started? How long has it been? How bad does it hurt? Are you injured anywhere else? There is a conversation he wants to have - If I leave you here I don’t know that you’ll be alive when I get back. There are protocols, in disaster situations. If you can only save one person, you save the one most likely to survive. Beyond protocol, you always fucking save the kid. Beyond that, it's our kid. It’s our fucking kid, it’s Christopher, and I am going to get him to the surface and in doing so I am going to leave you for dead. But it’s Buck, and they never really needed words to talk, and Buck is still looking at him, and Eddie knows what he'd say. He'd downplay the injury. He knows the protocol. And he’d already said it, damned him out loud, he’s going to take you back up top and then come back for me.

Fourth most bookmarks: maybe fall in love

It's a pretty graceless confession but last Eddie checked it was 87° and, as a reminder, 3:46 in the goddamn morning. Whenever he'd occasionally let himself imagine this moment it had been a lot sweeter, maybe candles, maybe flowers, a big emotional recounting of exactly how much Buck means to him and how much his life has changed for the better because he's in it, but Eddie really thinks he should be cut some slack given the circumstances.

Fifth most words: like all good things are

By the time they dig down to where Chimney’s buried he’s barely conscious and laying in a puddle of his own blood. Buck wants to look anywhere else, but the only other option in the cramped space is to look at Hen, and he doesn’t want to do that because he knows what he’ll see there: the particular tight jaw expression she gets when things have gone bad. And Buck isn’t the team paramedic but he’s EMT certified like every other firefighter in the city and he knows this is bad, even if Chimney manages a bloody chuckle and says “Took you long enough.”

Buck nods, two slow movements like any action at all pains him. Eddie isn’t sure how literal or metaphorical that statement is, and wants to tell him again to let a doctor look at him, but they’ve had that argument several times already tonight and Buck had a look in his eyes like- like Eddie doesn’t even know what, but whatever would have happened if he’d kept pushing would not have been good, so he’d let it drop and stuck close to his side. "She shouldn't be alone."
