Edit: For those that might not know, that is Halle’s voice. She’s in a group with her older sister, Chloe, and they’re group is called Chloe x Halle if you want to hear more of her. Also, at D23 the ppl there not only got to hear Part Of Your World but they got to see the entire 4 minute sequence. It wasn’t fully edited yet, but they loved it from what I hear.

“The Little Mermaid is set in the 13th century.” First of all, the story was set in the 13th century. Not the movie. The Disney movie was set around the same time period Hans Christian Andersen wrote the TLM: the 19th century. That is very clear by the style of dress worn by the characters in that movie and various other movies. Even if it was set in the 13th century, Halle could still be Ariel. Black ppl were, and still are, all over Europe. They were in the English court and various other courts. Black and Arab ppl literally ruled over Spain for 800 years and you wanna insist that a Black mermaid is impossible??? Stories of mermaids existed hundreds of years in Africa and Asia, long before they appeared in Europe. None of your complaints and excuses are hitting. Also, MELANIN DOESNT COME FROM THE SUN YOU DUMB NUTS! That’s not how it works. You have to already have pigment in your skin. Sebastian literally names the black fish in Under The Sea. They exist and they certainly don’t get their color from the sun. Just like ppl don’t. The coral reef is also nowhere near Denmark or Norway. Like at all.
