When I first heard the word asexual over a decade ago, as a teenager dealing with the twin manifestations of compulsory sexuality that are purity culture and hookup culture, it was a weight off of my back. It was a light in the darkness that said you do not ever have to compromise on this boundary. Not now, not later, not ever. You can live a life where your body only belongs to you and no one else can tell you what to do with it.

This is the most important thing we can fight for, in my opinion. A world where everyone can do whatever they want with their own bodies forever— including never have sex.

There is no sexual freedom without indefinite refusal. Those who choose indefinite refusal are not your enemy. You only stand to gain from recognizing and fighting for us.

I am never inclined to make fun of tumblr's cheesy attempts to make money and generally support them even if you consider them cringe. Websites need money to operate and tumblr needs to find a way to make money consistently or it will cease to exist. I do not want tumblr to cease to exist, and the most common alternative method of making money is to collect and sell all of our personal data, which I do not want either. Websites that can support themselves via people willing to spend $25 bucks to commit to a bit is a sign of a brighter and more sustainable version of the internet.

Thinking about Lucifer using his shapeshifing ability to help overcome the barrier that is Alastor’s touch aversion between them.

Because- it’s different with an animal. It’s not the same to have a snake winding around your arm as it is to have fingers circling your wrist, not the same to have a bird perch on your shoulder as it is to have a hand clasp you back.

It’s different. Somehow, with these touches, Alastor doesn’t shrink in on himself. He doesn’t remember things he’d rather forget. He doesn’t feel any prickling in his skin, doesn’t feel a pit in his gut.

So Lucifer makes it work. When he needs cuddles- he turns himself into a cat, stretching and purring as Alastor pets him, as he carries him in his arms.

When he needs to be clingy, when he needs constant companionship- then he becomes a snake, wrapped possessively around Alastor’s arm, loosely around his neck-

He becomes a bird. A fox. A lizard. Whatever the day and the mood requires.

It works, for them. Because nothing about their relationship is conventional anyways.

They see each other across the chasm and find a way to build the bridge

As we move towards the summer months, this is a healthy reminder that:

BMI is misapplied at best and pseudoscience at worst.

That genetics have far more affect on body type than any other factor.

That a "healthy weight" varies wildly from person to person.

That your body's actual healthy weight shouldn't require constant dieting to maintain.

That some studies have shown that being slightly "overweight" based on BMI actually makes you more resilient against injury and illness.

That unless your weight is actually directly causing you mobility issues or pain, it isn't a problem.

That movement and food should be a source of joy, not self discipline and stress.

That everyone looks better in clothes that fit properly.

That being hydrated and well fed is far more important to your health than you realize.

That fed is best.

That chiseled abs are only really visible if you are dehydrated.

That feeling the sun on your skin and bird song can heal the parts of you that years of dieting and weight watching and self criticism has injured.

That you have no obligation to be sexy or beautiful.

That you should never say things about your own body that you wouldn't say about a friend's or a partner's.

That it is not a moral imperative to be healthy or mobile or skinny.

That the people who judge you for your weight are fighting their own demons.

That People are absolutely terrible at guessing a person's weight. How you dress and carry yourself has far more impact on perception.

That You don't have to be beautiful to enjoy a beautiful day.

Better happy than skinny.

Feeling good is better than looking good.
