Seeing how Kadoc reacts to the usual Chaldea weirdness is a big part of the reason I enjoy "what if (x) joined Chaldea" stuff because I like the idea of seeing how the other Crypters (except Beryl because fuck 'em) would handle being part of some of the wackier events in F/GO. I feel like Kirschtaria in particular would vibe REALLY well with a lot of the goofy stuff and get really into some of those events.
oops this got long, headcanons below
Kirschtaria is as close to a servant as a person can get with his goofy-ass attitude. he would be a regular recruit in hijinks. he is somehow a citizen of the servantverse. he can make problems but cant ever solve them. caenis and gordy take shifts watching kirschtaria to make sure he doesnt start some bullshit
Pepe would be similar but doesn't need a baby-sitting squad to make sure he stays out of trouble. side-line supporter, mom who brings the best snacks to the kids soccer game, seeking business opportunities in new singularities.
as relaxed as they would normally be, there will still be times when something happens and they cant help but release a "what the fuck" because of the absurdity/sudden mortality of the situation. in chaldea both become clingy of guda and mash- mash is of course their tortured kouhai they want to make amends with. the unfortunate kid who lost their everything, someone they want to protect. guda...guda is the below-average prodigy that pepe and kirschtaria want to test and observe. like watching a pumpkin toadlet jump and then fail to land.
beryl forceful reformation program. he isnt allowed near mash, any servant would begin to beat him up if he got close. he isnt allowed near guda, guda gets too pissed to concentrate. he is forced into buddist practices like eating once a day, sitting under a waterfall, prayer, and helping to do chores. the servants who watch him (saints, monks, pacifists, morgan, and lots of generals for some reason) swear he is showing moral improvements. if you see him in the hallway he beaten down by life.
ophelia is having much needed girl time. the one who is chilling the most after joining chaldea post-crypter career. a favorite among servants for her helpful and thoughtful attitude. doesnt cause trouble. is part of the kirschtaria task-force. is quite aloof towards guda because she feels guilty about turning her back on humanity. because she spends time with mash she inevitably spends time with guda, she tries not to make it awkward but she cant help it. despite being on the backburner, ophy is fiercely protective of this new chaldea. one time she gets really drunk (got carried away drinking w/ bryn) and cries in gudas lap about how sorry she is. her avoidant behavior improves after that and she gets roped into causing trouble.
we know that yu meiren becomes gudas (unwilling) servant and senpai. she becomes more fond of guda as time goes on, unsurprisingly. shocking everyone though, she becomes more friendly towards the other crypters. the relaxed and crass attitude she gives to guda gets transferred to everyone else. they are very surprised by this (she once called kirschtaria a doll-eyed fetus and he thought it was so funny he told everyone about it for like a week). taking on an older sister role, meiren becomes an unexpected source of solace for the crypters and eases the tensions between servants and crypter. her hubby takes it upon himself to keep an eye on beryl. she brags about how much beryl has improved under the watch of the most handsome man to ever exist
kadoc is another favorite among servants but for bullying purposes. he has a number of servants that just...enjoy bothering him. because of his attitude he also has some friends (jason, mandricardo, etc). complained about being weak too many times and was forced to join body-building club. like ophy he is awkward about his past betrayal but he gets over it pretty quickly. how does he get over it? great question, everything guda does annoys him. he made a point to publicly apologize to mash and da vinci. usually left out of causing problems but often gets roped into helping resolve them. has to tap out halfway because he cant cope. he is anastasia's stay at home wife.
some servants never warm up to the crypters- they are polite of course but guda is too much of a priority. for some servants its their protective nature, for others its natural caution. some of those servants include: moriarty (acts friendly. is not.), dantes (never interacts with them. always lurking around guda), oberon (doesnt like anyone), BB (acts friendly. is not.), morgan (doesnt trust like that), arjuna (doesnt trust like that), jalter (emo), kama (doesnt like anyone), abby (never interacts with them. always lurking around guda)

You asked what kind of AU is it? Make yourself comfortable, my friends!
(.❛ ᴗ ❛.)
In 1995, under cover of the noize of Birakujî, Eric King launched the Caelus for the first time. He discovered a huge underground temple in the foothills of the Zagros. But his research didn't get any support (financial, I mean), so Eric managed everything by himself (what a man). He brought Clarice Stokes as a sience-sister, and Rachel as a guard-squad-leader. Nick, Merwin and Joey are the members of Rachel's team, so they all protect Eric and Clarice in the war zone. What about Jason? He's also in the guard, second in command. Despite of dr*g addiction, because he didn't tell his mates about it. But in the underground temple, the group discovered not only the remains of the former culture, but also a fairly lively current one.
The temple people use the Muslim calendar and speak very outdated Arabic. But there's something more important. They stay underground for centuries to hold back the monsters escaping from the bowels of the temple. The temple people are few, most of them are meek, but the're really good warrios. Salim is their hakim - elected leader. It was he who first stumbled upon the Americans, while he was chasing the monster that broke through the defenses of the temple. Because of the contact with new human race the research continued for some weeks. While Eric and Clarice are exploring a new culture, Joey and Mervin are busy with each other, and Rachel and Nick are busy with Eric (they're three for the price of one, guys, they're family), Jason is the only one who wants to leave the temple as soon as possible, afraid of his withdrawal (of course he doesn't have enough dr*gs to be there for such a long time). Salim, who has no idea what dr*gs are, nevertheless intends to help him deal with not only this problem.
A couple of details:
Salim speaks English. How? Because of another group of researchers. His parents once met scientists who also descended into the temple (Dr. Randolph Hodgson's team, yep). These scientists left all of their records, dictaphones and cassettes in the temple to protect an underground village from invasion.
Salim hides Jason in his house and tells everyone that Jason was poisoned by the luminescent paint that tample community use to paint their faces (maybe I'll tell you more about this cultural tradition later) so Jason will not be fired or sent to jail. You can see the part of this on my art.
Zane was born later and his mother disappeared earlier. Where did she go? She fled to the upper world. She didn't want to waste her life on a living in a hornet's (vampire's, actually) nest. How old is Zayn? Seven months. Salim feeds him with a tissue (a medieval technique for raising a baby who has lost their mom: a soft tissue is dipped in milk and put it in the child's mouth). And yes, look at the background of my art. See the little bed in the niche with the curtain? Now you know whose it is.
The ecosystem in the underworld is really special. But it's too much words for the one post. I'll talk more about this later if you'd like me to.
Art has two versions just because of the lentern. Enjoy!

I'm curious about this Uno reverse batfamily adoption fic idea. What is it going to be about? All the batkids parents are alive and try to coparents Bruce and the robins?
The story starts when a newly minted Batman goes to a circus. He runs into a panicking baby Dick before the show starts, who claims that there's a bad man doing something to the ropes. Bruce rushes off to stop him, gets lightly stabbed, and decides to buy Haly's Circus so this kind of thing doesn't happen again.
The Grayson family happily adopt him. No amount of persuading will convince Dick Grayson that Bruce is not his new older brother. Alfred is happy to have more people looking out for Bruce. Bruce is defeated and resignedly accepts his new parental figures, since it appears that Haly's Circus is going to stay in Gotham.
[you can insert subplot about court of owls here or not.]
Bruce Wayne is in Crime Alley on the anniversary of his parents' death. He gets mugged, which causes a flashback and a panic attack, and a kind passerby coaches him through it while her son scowls at him the whole time. Catherine Todd invites him up for a cup of tea and Bruce meets her husband. He can see where Jason gets the scowl from. Willis gives back Bruce's wallet and keys without saying where he got them from. The car's tires, however, are a lost cause.
[honestly the dramatic tension here from Batman running into Willis as one of Two-Face's lackeys would be delicious. also feat Willis finally revealing Catherine's medical issues which of course leads to Bruce paying for treatment and Jason starting to trust him.]
This Batman has no Robin. This does not stop little Timmy's fascination with nighttime photography, which Janet encourages. Children need to spend time outside, she can brag about her baby's talent, and honestly all the traveling means she's up at odd hours when she's in Gotham anyway. But all that Bat-watching gets Janet thinking and she figures out that Bruce is Batman in a couple of months. Tim is his mother's son, after all. Janet, previously very annoyed with Brucie Wayne, now realizes the whole thing is an act, and is very amused. She can use this to troll Gotham's snooty high society and get a good laugh out of those stuffy galas. Jack is always game to go along with a good joke.
[The Drakes, frequent visitors to the circus ever since little Dick Grayson picked up baby Timmy and proclaimed that he'd do a special flip just for him, find out that the Graysons also know Bruce. They meet the Todds on another trip. If Bruce knew that there were three different sets of Gotham parents conspiring about him, he'd probably flee permanently to the Watchtower.]
Talia...well, it would be a bit awkward for Talia to adopt Bruce. But you don't have to change much to have Ra's be the kind of father that's obsessed with that One Boyfriend you brought for dinner five years ago and won't stop asking when he's coming back.
[Why, yes, Ra's does join the monthly meetings of the Bruce Wayne Protection Squad. If only to weigh in on the "who should Bruce date" debate. They're going to be his future in-law after all.]
Batman runs into David Cain and Lady Shiva on two separate missions, both of which end in injuries for Bruce, but a little girl sticks bandaids with colorful print on him so he guesses it's okay. Her parents have split custody of Cass and now apparently Bruce too, if the way they grouse at him about the proper way to take on assassins is any indication.
Batman ends up in the hospital and Crystal Brown is the nurse that's assigned to his care. The only thing that stops a delirious Batman from trying to get out of bed is Stephanie Brown's detailed stories. Some time later, Cluemaster kidnaps Batman--not to unmask his identity, but to interrogate him on his postoperative care because his wife and daughter were worrying.
Gordon's already pretty much adopted him, so nothing has to change there.
Bonus: Bruce is a fantastic babysitter. He's attentive and careful. Also, all the kids think he's super cool because he's Batman, which is very flattering. And whenever one of them starts making noises about joining him in fighting crime, he can drop them back off at their parents.

Dealing with insomnia part last night and this fic idea came to mind. It's a merging of several past fic ideas I've played withat one point or another.
Janet is/was secretly CIA officer and Jack was originally her handler who she fell in live with and married
The Haiti Incident wasn't an archaeological trip that got intercepted by terrorists. It was a CIA mission investigating the League of Assassins that fell apart due to a double cross
Janet didn't die. She was captured and presumed dead due to explosion. The explosion is also what caused Jack to be injured badly enough to be thrown into a coma
Ra's had Janet captured because he was obsessed with her as a new potential paramour, but she despises him
However Ra's manipulates her into obedience by threatening to go after Tim is she doesn't comply and work with the League (similar to how the League threatened their Administrator person's family in the Red Robin comics). If she won't serve him as a consort, she can serve him as a spy. In the CIA she was in black ops division.
Ra's reveals to Janet her son is a Robin, and because of that the League could easily take him out if they wanted because Batman sends him out alone on patrols and missions too often and he's always vulnerable to the League
Later Janet discovers she's pregnant with Jack's child. She was only a few weeks along when Haiti happened and it wasn't until midway through her second month with the League that she started feeling and showing signs. Ra's allows her to keep the child but only because of is another way to ensure her loyalty. The baby's name is Emily
Jack freaks out when he discovers Tim is Robin because he's always been afraid Tim would followed in his mother's footsteps one day. Being in the CIA, FBI, or some other aspect of the US government intelligence or military is a family legacy for Janet's side.
Janet's mother, Vanessa Grey, is actually still alive and is acting Director of the ARGUS. She is Amanda Waller's boss in this AU. Waller is the head of the Suicide Squad division and reports directly to Vanessa. Steve Trevor, also reports directly to Vanessa as head of his own spec ops team within ARGUS. He's at equal level to Amanda. They are Vanessa's left (Waller) and right (Trevor) hands respectively.
Vanessa knows her daughter has been captured by the League of Assassins, but their organization is so tight that an extraction has not been possible to organize safely. She is also aware that the League is likely threatening Tim to keep her daughter in line, as her spies have noted how League agents are always in distant but convenient orbit around her grandson.
Vanessa knows Tim is Robin and that Bruce is Batman. In ARGUS, only Waller and Trevor share this information with her. This information is kept top secret between the three of them. Trevor protects this secret because he was actually close friends with Janet and cares about her family. Waller protects this secret because she has "thoughts" on the value of knowing that Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Back to Janet... While in the League, she ends up in... something... with Talia. They aren't really "friends" but they do respect one another. Talia ensures Janet's baby is cared for and protected when she is forced to go on covert missions. In return, Janet acts as a double agent for Talia regarding what Ra's and White Ghost are up to at any given point in time. Because of this, Janet meets with and interacts with both Jason and Damian before they leave the League.
Janet recognizes Jason as Bruce Wayne's adopted son. Where Talia was trying to turn him into a League agent loyal only to her, Janet, while being forced to train Jason in espionage, couldn't help but care for him as a person... as a teenager not much older than her own son. Jason also started drifting towards Janet as a mother figure, and even grew fond and protective of Emily as a baby sister. Janet also spoke a lot about Tim.
Titans Tower and the Red Hood's interactions with Tim are different because of this. Talia kept it a secret that Jason met Janet. Ra's noticed Janet was becoming "comfortable" so decided to remind her of her place by ordering a threat on Tim. Talia heard of this and offered "manipulate" Jason into doing the deed, sweetening the pot by tempting Ra's with the idea of all the chaos Jason's return to Bruce's life will cause in Gotham (because Jason still hates Bruce in this AU).
Jason goes to Gotham with two things in mind: (1) Pretend to threaten Tim just enough to get the other League spies/assassins that are threatening Tim to back down. He goes in with a plan to injure Tim just enough to keep him off the streets and out of uniform for at least a few weeks, if not a couple of months. and (2) to go after Bruce for all the things he's angry at his adopted dad about involving the Joker.
Janet meets and bonds with Damian while he's under Talia's care in a similar way as she did Jason. Damian sees Janet almost like a favorite Aunt. However, Ra's ends up taking Damian away for long stretches at a time to reduce the influence of Talia on the boy as he "trains" Damian personally. But when the time comes that Talia sends Damian to his father, Janet tells him not to reveal anything to Tim about her. He's confused about that. Janet tells him it's because if Tim knew she was alive, he'd stop at nothing to find her... and Ra's would use that against her, both her children (who Damian views as cousins), and Damian's father Bruce, who had adopted Tim after Jack died. So when Damian goes to Gotham to join Bruce's family, he does not make any attacks against Tim, though he is distant to the teenager. Being around Tim makes him WANT to tell him about his mother, especially when he observes how much Timothy still misses her.
Tim doesn't reunite with Janet until BruceQuest. By then Janet and Talia are seperated. Ra's questions Talia's loyalty after she sends Damian out of his reach and sends her away in exile. Janet is sent to the Cradle along with her daughter, who is three years old, almost four at this point. Everything happens just as it does in canon during BruceQuest, except when Tim wakes up at the Cradle and Janet catches wind that he is there and was injured by the Spiders, which is a case she'd been assigned to figure out and stop, she goes to him.
Tim at first doesn't believe what he's seeing when he sees his mom alive and well. At first he thinks she's a fake or a hallucination. But then at the sight of Tim injured and surrounded by ninjas and assassins, Janet goes off, screaming at them to get away from her son. But then the White Ghost himself puts a blade at Tim's throat, and still being injured, Tim can't react fast enough to stop him. Janet freeze with terror as White Ghost reminds her of exactly what SHE has at stake. Just because Timothy is in the Cradle doesn't mean that the sword of Damocles isn't still hanging over his head. Then White Ghost orders a couple of the other assassins to turn their blades on Janet too, which sends a spike of alarm immediately through Tim. White Ghost is quite pleased with watching Tim's expression as he realizes that just as they can threaten him to keep his mother in line, now in addition to Tam they can threaten Janet to keep Tim in line.
Afterwards, when the three of them are finally able to be alone together in Janet's "suite" which is just a comfortably furnished prison cell with a couple of rooms, Janet explains everything to her son and Tam. After she's done talking, Tim asks her why she hasn't tried to leave, even when Ra's has her out in the field. It's at that time one of the side room doors open and little Emily warily peeks out. "Momma? Is it safe?"
Tim is frozen in shock at the child as this child with Jack's brown hair and Janet's blue eyes (the same as his own) is beckoned forward by his mom. "It's ok baby. It's safe. They're safe." The girl asks who they are. Janet smiles sadly. "Y'know the stories I told you about our home back in Gotham? This is your big brother." At that, Emily's eyes light up, fear blinked away and replaced by wonder and curiosity. "Tim?"
After that, Tim ends up working alongside his mother in order to figure out this whole deal with the Council of Spiders. He gets to see his mother in her element and sees a whole side of her that he never knew existed. He also realizes that a lot of his observational and investigational skills, the way his mind works to connect clues and solve cases are traits he inherited from his mom. While they work, Tam stays with Emily, who is happy for the company that isn't assassins. She misses her cousins Jason and Damian who she'd grown up with, but she loves getting to know Tim. When they are resting at the Cradle, she follows him around like a duckling.
Things happen as they do in the Cradle at the end of everything. While Ra's thinks Tim and Janet are under his thumb, what he doesn't realize is that now that the two are working together, Janet seizes the opportunity to activate several "contingencies" she's been quietly integrating into the Cradle for what she hoped would be her eventual escape. The only reason she hadn't activated any of them was she had no way to get Emily out safely with just her. But with Tim there now it's possible.
During the escape from the Cradle, Tim quickly learns that his mother has no limits when it comes to protecting him, his baby sister, or Tam. One of the first things Janet does when the Spiders attack is to get her hands on as many firearms and ammo clips as she can carry, and she's a crackshot with all of them. She's in full on black ops mode when the fighting starts, and her mission is to safely extract the hostages by any means necessary and cut off pursuit by any hostiles.
Oh, btw... Tim may have originally set up his virus to just blow up the Cradle, but while he was out in the field on earlier missions to locate the Spiders, Janet snuck in behind him and boosted the reach of the virus to go after nearly all the League bases that were on the same network. This was Janet's big FUCK YOU to Ra's for everything he put her through over all these years.
Once they're back in Gotham City, the final showdown with Ra's and his assassins happens, but Tim is not alone when he faces down Ra's, at least not completely. When everything started, Tim left Janet with Emily under Red Hood's protection. Tim wanted his family under the protection of someone who would DEFINITELY shoot to kill if someone threatened them. However, Janet had a feeling Tim was gonna run off and face Tim alone, so she followed after while leaving Emily with Jason, who promised to watch over his baby sister.
In the skyscraper office, just as Ra's is about to try and kick Tim through the window, he catches a glint in the reflection of the cracked glass window and barely turns around just in time to avoid being shot through the head, instead catching Janet's bullet through the shoulder. Janet doesn't hesitate, doesn't even give Ra's the chance to monologue, just stares him down with ice cold eyes as she empties half the clip from her Glock center mass into his chest before putting one last bullet between his eyes. Once she knows Ra's is down, she immediately starts mother henning Tim, checking on his injuries and fretting about infection because he still lost his spleen.
Afterwards, Ra's body disappears before it can be picked up by authorities, because of course it did.
Tim returns to live at the manor and delivers the evidence that Bruce is alive. Janet and Emily relocate there as well for the time being to rest and recuperate from their harrowing ordeal. Jason comes back as well because (1) he missed Janet and sees her as a second mom and (2) he wants to be there in case anyone from the League tries to retaliate again, which thankfully they don't. Janet made sure that the League was severely crippled by what they did at the Cradle. Damian is also a lot lighter now his Aunt Janet is back in his life again, along with Emily.
Eventually, about a week after everything settles down, Steve Trevor shows up at the front gate of Wayne Manor. He's come by to both say welcome home to his best friend and to extend an invitation. Tim asks what's going. "Oh, it's just an invite from your grandmother to have Sunday dinner with her. She wants to finally meet her grandchildren." Tim blinks at her. "Wait? GRANDMOTHER?! Since when did I have a grandmother?!"

Batman characters get Pokémon time!
Bruce has a Marowak, naturally, since he encountered a Cubone after his parents' death and bonded with it since they emphasized with each other. I think he also has a Delphox evolved from the Fennekin he received as a kid for his starter pokemon.
Batman's public partner, however, is a Noivern.
Dick has a Bolthund, but Nightwing has an Altaria.
Jason has an Mightyena, but Red Hood has a Fearrow.
Damian has a full squad of six "fierce" pokemon (actually super adorable or genuinely baby pokemon). I'm thinking Cleffa, Togepi, Riolu, Munchlax, Eevee, and Rockruff. No thought was put into making this a balanced team. Cuteness only. Damian insists with proper training he can make them a balanced team.
Robin has a Honedge, not that everyone is aware his sword is a pokemon. Bruce definitely isn't, and is currently trying to convince Damian to pick between either his Riolu or his Rockruff to remove from his civilian team and use exclusively as his vigilante partner to protect his identity. But limiting yourself to six pokemon partners is a stupid rule anyway! He should be allowed to have as many as he can provide care and training for, and as the Heir to the Bat and the Demon's Head, he has many resources at his disposal! Once he proves himself capable of managing seven by proving himself as Robin and revealing Honedge, he should easily be able to convince his father to let him take home the Mareep he desperately wants as his eighth!
I really like the idea of the Drakes all having ghost pokemon for no reason other than I like ghost pokemon. But also fossil type pokemon because they definitely dug some up on their trips.
Jack Drake has a Dusclops and an Archeops. Janet has a Froslass and a Bastiodon. (I don't subscribe to Jack and Janet being basically monsters to Tim, I see them more as "would have been a great Aunt/Uncle, but definitely can't and shouldn't be in charge of a child full-time" BUT I picked these pokemon for vibes only and yet, it's interesting that the pokedex entries for both Dusclops and Froslass describe them as having "completely hollow" bodies. Hmm. You could pyschoanalyze the shit out of that.)
Tim also has a full team of 6, because I have too many I want to give him, and he's rich, so he can afford it. He has a Rotom, a Dreepy, a Shuppet, and an Aurorus his parents revived from a fossil for him. (And a Mimkyu, but his parents didn't know about that one.)
Red Robin has a Persian.
Ra's Al Ghul has Rayquaza. And as part of his whole environmental terrorist thing, he is trying to also capture Kyogre and Groudon.
Alfred has Shaymin. Don't ask where he got it, Shaymin's been with him since before he worked for the Waynes.
Stephanie has a Mime Jr. while Spoiler has a Hitmonchan.
Duke has a Chatot, and Signal has a Growlithe.
Barbara has a Gardevoir and a Pichu who was her partner as Batgirl. She doesn't need a separate pokemon as Oracle since she's not in front of the public.

the look on your face told him everything, the way your eyes were glued to the floor, your lips pulled together in the tightest of frowns as you tried to stop yourself from crying. he was gonna kill them, whoever it was.
“jesus,” he frowns at your expression, “what happened?”
“it’s nothing, eds,” you sniffle, shaking him off as you brush past him toward his bedroom, “i just wanna sleep.”
“hey,” he calls after you as he follows, watching you tear your jacket and jeans off in a shaken frenzy. “hey, talk to me, c’mon.”
“we should leave,” you finally turn to look at him, eyes glossy and waterline filling by the millisecond. “just pack our shit into the van and take off.”
“yeah, i got no objections,” he huffs a laugh, “but where’s this coming from, baby?”
“i was a loser before i met you, eddie,” your shoulders slump in defeat, “i wasn’t funny or cool or popular, hell i wasn’t even that pretty – i’m still not. i just, i forgot that people still see me that way, y’know?”
“what are you talking about? what people? what happened?” eddie reaches for your hand, cupping it in his own.
“jason,” you shrug, “he’s an asshole.”
“yeah, tell me something i don’t know,” he half-jokes.
“him and his goon squad, they keyed my car,” your gaze drifts to the floor once again as you silently hope that he doesn’t ask the message.
he doesn’t make you say it, sure, but he does dart out of the room with you in tow to see it for himself.
freak’s loser whore.
“i’m gonna kill ‘em,” he grits through his teeth, his jaw set in anger, his fists clenched at his sides. “i’m actually gonna murder them. brutally.”
“it’s not that big of a deal, ed,” you try to brush it off but your throat tightens around your words as you stand on the porch. “it’s nothing, it’s fine. my uncle does body work so he can fix it, it’ll be okay.”
“no, it’s not fucking okay!” eddie spins to look at you, heart splitting in half when he sees the way you try to stay strong in his presence. “i’m so sorry, baby. you don’t deserve this bullshit.” he takes a deep breath before making his way to you, arms immediately wrapping around your figure.
“i’m always gonna be a loser, eddie,” you sniffle, face nuzzled into the comfort of his iron maiden t-shirt. “you’re always gonna be a freak, that’s just the way these small towns work.”
“you’re not a loser,” he shakes his head at you, “not in the bad way, at least,” then he pauses, eyes flashing as he remembers your statement from earlier, “start packing.”
“what?” you half whisper, looking up at him with a raised brow, “you serious?”
“as a heart-attack. we’re getting outta here, baby,” eddie nods in confirmation, “tonight. right now. i got an aunt out in tulsa and she’s got some old fucker for a husband but he’s like rich, and they got a whole second story in their house that they never use. i’ll call her, just go pack.”
“okay,” you smile hopefully at him, “i love you so much, eddie.”
“i love you too,” he kisses you softly before adding, “till the day i die.”

Mommy Dearest
As the president of the Catherine Todd Protection Squad, and Founder of the AK!Jason Needs All of the Hugs organization, I am hereby giving Cathy a small bit of redemption from how she was portrayed in Arkham Knight: Genesis, therefore allowing Jason to get lots and lots of hugs and kisses as a kid ❤️ (Abusive Willis gets no redemption. Sorry bud.)
Also on AO3 (please comment & kudos if you enjoy!)
cw: domestic violence, child neglect, drug use/addiction, swearing
It was crying again. More like shrieking. Cathy rolled over in bed and wrapped a pillow around her head. She could fucking geld Willis for this. How hard was it to just pull his dick out and come on her back for a couple of weeks until she could get back on the pill? Too hard for her imbecile husband, apparently.
As soon as she realized she was pregnant she wanted to get rid of it but Willis wouldn’t let her. That was when he hatched his idiotic scheme to sell a fucking newborn to a bunch of mobsters to pay off their drug debts. Dumbass. Now they were stuck with this 12 pound nightmare that never, ever shut the fuck up.
Willis kicked her in the side, so hard that she almost tumbled off the bed. He grabbed the pillow off of her head, yanking it out of her hands. “If you don’t shut that goddamn baby up then I will,” he growled before slamming the pillow back down in her face and rolling back over in bed.
He always threatened this. Last time she told him to go for it and he’d backhanded her so hard he knocked her to the floor. “Do I look like a fucking nanny? Deal with it!” She still had that bruise on her cheek.
She sat up on the side of the bed and rubbed her sunken bloodshot eyes, trying to find the willpower to stand up. It was December in Gotham and their gas was shut off because they’d smoked up the last payment (and the payment before that, and the payment before that, etcetera, etcetera…) Now they were making do with a couple of space heaters, but she was still freezing her ass off. The absolute last thing she wanted to do right now was crawl out of the warmth of her blankets to go beg a damn baby to stop crying.
She fantasized once again about taking a pillow and smothering it. But as much as she despised the thing she’d never actually do it. She was a good Catholic girl, and she didn’t want to burn in hell for murdering a baby. What does it want from me?? It wasn’t like she knew anything about raising a kid. She was only 19, practically a kid herself. None of her girlfriends who she could’ve turned to for advice even talked to her anymore—they didn’t want to associate with a junkie. Her sister had a brood, but she was on the other side of the country, wrapped up in some evangelical cult her nutjob husband sucked her into, and Cathy would rather suffer with her screaming kid than hear one more time about how she needed to embrace Jesus to be healed of her sinful addictions. She wished she had her mother to help her, but her parents cut her off when she dropped out of high school to run off with the dreamy Willis Todd, who was a decade older than she was, who’d failed out of high school and was too stupid to pass his GED. Worst mistake of my life, and she’d made a lot of them. She also didn’t have the luxury of delivering the baby in an air-conditioned hospital with a nice nurse to send her home with how-to instructions. Nope. She had the thing on a hot roof on a sweltering mid-August night, with Willis telling her to "push," while all she wanted to do was push him and his brat off the building.
It was somehow shrieking even louder now. How the hell did it have this much energy? She could barely afford to feed herself, much less a kid. And as if everything else she had to deal with wasn’t enough, the damn thing wouldn’t breastfeed. Maybe it could tell that milk was poisoned. She hadn’t changed her lifestyle when she got knocked up or after it was born—why should I when I didn’t want the thing in the first place? Her drawn face softened, smoothing away her angry scowl. For some reason the thought of the baby going hungry made her sad all of a sudden, and for a moment she actually felt sorry for it. The kid didn’t ask to be born. And it certainly didn’t ask to be born to two dirt-poor fuckups. When she stopped by the kitchen to grab her cigarettes and an ashtray she’d make it a bottle. Maybe that would make it happy.
With a sigh, she finally pushed herself off the bed and stood up. She didn’t want to have to deal with Willis if he woke up again—she already had one whining kid to take care of right now. She wandered like a stoned zombie into their tiny kitchen. Their elderly neighbor had shown her how to swaddle the thing—she said it was like being back in the womb or something—but she’d been tweaked out of her mind then and now she couldn’t figure out what the lady had done. Goddamn kid. She’d told Willis over and over that they could dump it at a fire station and be rid of it once and for all, but the idiot was still convinced he could sell it, and there was no talking him out of something when he made his mind up. She’d thought about crawling back home to her parents and begging for a second chance, but she didn’t think she could give up dope for that. And besides, Willis would track her down and beg her to come back to him, and she’d do it. She hated herself for that, but that was how it was. She wasn’t gonna pretend it would be any different than all the other times he’d dragged her back to this shithole apartment.
She lit up a cigarette while she prepared the formula for the bottle. She’d thought all babies had blonde hair, but this one had a head full of black hair, just like her pig of a husband. And its eyes were baby blue now, but she just knew they’d eventually fade to that empty, soulless blue shade of his. You know, the least it could do after I carried it for 9 miserable months was actually look like me. But all she saw when she looked down at it was Willis. A carbon copy of the man. And it would probably grow up to be just like Willis, with his temper and his drugs and his gambling and his whores—another dumbass deadbeat in this godforsaken city. This poor kid was fucked every which way. He’d have no more hope of escaping Gotham’s gravity than she ever had.
She screwed the nipple back onto the bottle, slid the lit cigarette between her lips, and wandered over to the crib and her wailing baby. But… it wasn’t wailing. It had stopped when she entered the living room. Weird. Did the thing drop dead on her or something? That was all she needed right now. A dead baby. She sat the ashtray down with her cigarette, switched on a lamp, and leaned over the crib.
The chubby little thing was on his back with his stubby arms and legs in the air like a turtle on its shell, and he was smiling up at her, with two huge robin’s egg blue eyes, and although he’d dragged her out of bed at 4 in the morning, she couldn’t help but smile back.
“Aww,” she said gently. “I’ve never seen you smile before.”
She reached in and touched him on his tiny hand and he laughed, and that little laugh was the cutest thing she’d heard or seen in years. She giggled back at him then picked him up and held him against her heart, cradling his head against her shoulder. “Did you just want to be held? Is that it?”
He burbled at her in response, and something cracked inside of her. She suddenly felt like the worst piece of shit human being to ever walk the planet. This was her son, her baby boy. Hers. And for four goddamn months of his short life she had treated him like an unwanted piece of trash. Yet, here he was smiling at her, reaching for her like he knew she was his mommy, knew that she was supposed to protect him and love him unconditionally. He didn’t give a shit that she was a high school dropout, or that she was married to a loser, or that she was a 19 year old jibhead who looked like she was 40, or even that she’d all but neglected him for his entire life—he still wanted her, when the same couldn’t be said of her girlfriends, or her husband, or even her own family.
The poor thing didn’t even have clothes on, just a diaper. He was probably freezing to death in here. She tugged a ratty blanket from the back of the couch and wrapped herself and her son in it. Tears suddenly welled up in her eyes and she hugged the tiny body against her chest like a teddy bear. “I’m sorry,” she cried as tears rolled down her sunken cheeks, cheeks that were spotted with angry red sores. She felt like a little girl again, and she desperately wanted her own mother to take her in her arms and tell her everything was going to be alright. She wanted her dad to take her away from this hell, to protect her from Willis’ rage. But that was a different life, a life she chose to walk away from so she could play house with a wannabe gangster. Now it was time for her to grow up and become the parent, the protector, the mama bear. She rubbed away the tears from her dark-ringed eyes with the back of her hand.
Her little Jaybird had drifted off to sleep in her arms, and she could feel the gentle rise and fall of his chest, and the soft yet steady beating of his tiny heart. Her own heart felt warm in her chest, warm enough to chase the frigid chill away. She lay her cheek against his soft head. He was such a fragile, helpless little thing, and he would need his mommy to protect him from everything this godforsaken city would throw at him.
“Mommy’s gonna take care of you now, little one,” she whispered as she rocked him gently. “I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”
And she meant it. It was a promise, an oath. One she hoped she had the strength to keep. For a moment she forgot who she was, who she was married to, where she was forced to live, or who she had become. Right then all that mattered to her was the little life nestled against her breast. Right then she swore that even if she couldn’t escape Gotham’s gravity, she’d do whatever it took to help her baby boy crawl out from beneath its weight.
She gave his black hair a tender kiss, and soon both mother and son were sound asleep.

Jason Todd in every continuity talking about how great Babs is... I knew there was a reason I loved this dude. He’s a Babs stan. Good for him.
Tumblr media
I'm combining both asks since they are on the same subject
Of course Jason drinks the Barbara appreciation juice since day 1. And can you blame him? The kid met Barbara when she was already a cool and established superhero. She might not be his mentor (like she was for Cass and Steph) but he also sort of looked up to her.
What I also like is that Jason is also part of the protect Babs squad.
Look at baby Jason protecting older Batgirl:
Tumblr media
He has earned his place in the Barbara Gordon appreciation club that Cassandra and Stephanie co run.

Alright, let's see if I can craft something mildly coherent about my precious boy Eddie Munson
Lengthy post (and spoilers) under the cut.
I talk about 'The Piggyback' contradicting some core elements of ST and character development, the use of Eddie throughout the season and what happens with him and the epilogue of the ep.
Why Exactly Did He Need A Redemptive Arc?
I can't help but see Eddie's death as a redemptive 'dying as the hero' arc. Why was this crucial for this character? The only people who disliked him was Jason and his friends - and they are antagonists of the Hawkins Squad throughout the season. Aaaaand they are positioned as bad people (and they got much worse in the last ep - the stuff with Jason and Lucas was fucked up). It's not like Eddie had to redeem himself to the Hawkins Squad either. They protected him throughout the season and then he jumped in Lover's Lake with the rest of the Fruity Four towards the end of Vol.1. The 'he needs to believe he's a hero'-moment already happened in the conversation with Steve in the Upside Down. Why repeat that and have him die? He never did a 'bad' thing - people only thought he did and we (the audience) knew his side/perspective, it's not like his character was ever up for debate.
Punishing 'The Freak' is a Contradiction
This is obviously where we get into queerbaiting territory. Eddie was a queer-coded character. His last moment with Steve was clearly going to be something directly to him but then he hesitated and instead just spoke about Vecna. I'll die on that hill. Eddie dying also completely ignores the countless parallels with Robin, an openly gay character.
What I think I hate the most about him dying was that we know that he isn't this evil 'freak' that the town and Jason label him. He uses 'freak' multiple times in a queer-coded manner - or perhaps just in an attempt to own the moniker for his own sake. But the season was so overtly critiquing the Satanic Panic of the 1980s through Eddie and Hellfire so I find it this MASSIVE contradiction to then kill the every character the Duffers are using to criticise/explore a damaging moment in American culture. I find it even more fucked-up seeing as Eddie is queer-coded because the obsession with the Satanic Panic (something 'happening' in US society that completely made up) happened simultaneous to the AIDS/HIV crisis (which was a very real issue).
I don't mean to sound like I need to be babied through tv, but for me ST has the whole good vs. evil in a fantasy or sci-fi manner running through it. And Eddie was never bad. Bad people (if we can categorise into that binary for a moment) thought he was bad/evil etc. And the town still thinks that, more so now that the 'murders' are news. Example: you can't tell me the dumb Wheeler parents knew who Eddie was beyond Mike talking about him (as the cool leader of Hellfire) and yet, now they are at home watching the tv seeing him portrayed as a murderer.
Throughout this series, people's differences are their strengths, they are embraced through stuff like the found-family trope and they find goodness in each other and FOR EACH OTHER. We literally saw that in 'The Piggyback' with the Jonathan/Will exchange and also El's whole arc of rejecting both Vecna's and Brenner's influences on her power. Mike's love for her (in terms of his and the party's more pure intentions about her powers) literally becomes the very element that resolves this season. I find it sooooooooo contradictory to be continually using these elements and peppering in other similar media (Eddie loving Lord of the Rings) throughout the season and then just completely go against that in this instance. I cannot see any reason why this was done.
The 'Two Days Later' is Dismissive
As more time passes and I consume more television, the more I think flashing forward as a conclusion/epilogue to a series or season within a single episode positively suck. I'm actively pissed off about the epilogue to 'The Piggyback'. You cannot tell me that the Hawkins Crew wouldn't have recovered Eddie's body, the fact that we didn't get that (or at least a reunion between Steve and Dustin) is soooooooo weird to me. I almost feel like at the last-minute Eddie was kinda cast aside. In these last two eps in general I found the pacing to be off where scenes with El and Brenner then El and Vecna to be excessively long rather than building tension (not saying I dislike El, I'm talking about the writing).
Possibly the biggest problem here was that there was no acknowledgement of any Hellfire members about Eddie other than the (genuinely touching) exchange between Dustin and Wayne. But then that was it. Where was a scene of Mike finding out? And to be a Steddie/Fruity Four feral for a moment, there was also NOTHING from Steve and Robin about him? The two people who totally embraced him into the crew and fought and plotted alongside him.

It's More Than Just Words, It's Just Tears And Rain
Batbrother x Batfamily One-Shot
Word Count: 610 Warnings: Angst
Author's Note: Based on this ask! Enjoy my angst! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
The flight back after missions were filled with laughter and liquor, brothers and sisters in arms leaning against one another with tears flowing down their faces after someone cracked a raunchy joke. Nadeen Asghar rarely involved herself in those times, preferring to fly the plane first and party second when they hit the ground and found a bar to continue the celebration.
The Albatross had two seats, two pilots, and usually (Y/N) flew with her, though she oversaw most of it; she was protective of her aircraft. He understood, he didn’t like people touching his guns. But for now, he was back with the group, a hand gripping the rigging along the side as he laughed and drank from the wine cooler Walker had handed him.
She smiled as she glanced back at them. It’d been a tough mission, four months of digging their feet into the African Coast to secure militia headquarters. Everyone was glad to be heading home again. Nadeen looked back at the control panels, a blinking light causing her brows to furrow as she hit it, speaking calmly into the headset.
“Hello?”
Nadeen Asghar, I need to speak with (Y/N).
A brow arched on her forehead. “Who is this?”
Bruce Wayne. And I need to speak with my son…please.
She blinked and grabbed the mic of the headset, turning to face the group as she shouted, “Captain!” (Y/N)’s head cocked up, face pinched in confusion, and she waved at him.
He smiled at the group and walked in. “What’s up!”
Nadeen pointed to the headset, and he put it on; she looked at him. “You’ve got a call from your dad.”
(Y/N)’s lips pulled down and he turned the mic down to his jaw. “Dad? You there?”
Son, I—
She muted the headset, continually looking between the windshield and her CO’s face, and something deep in her chest bled when (Y/N)’s expression turned from confusion to rage to utter blankness, lips moving in a monotone fashion, then he reached up and pressed the transmission button, sitting still, eyes glazed over.
“Captain?” Nadeen asked but he offered no response, prompting her to try again. “Captain (Y/N), what’s wrong?”
He blinked, voice calm as he stated, “My youngest brother was murdered two weeks ago.”
Her brown eyes widened, jaw dropping in shock at the revelation. “Wha—how?”
“The Joker killed him in Ethiopia.” (Y/N) exhaled shakily. “We were there. We were in Sudan, and I didn’t even know he was there.”
“Captain, I—” Nadeen trailed off, not knowing what to say to him. “I am so sorry.”
He shook his head incredulously. “I promised I’d take him to Coast City when we got back. We were going to watch the airshow and go for a few rides.” (Y/N)’s gaze seemed to darken. “I was there, and I didn’t save him.”
Nadeen frowned. “(Y/N), it wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t’ve known.”
“I should’ve,” he countered and yanked the headset off, jumping from the seat to storm down the aisle, passing his squad mates who were both confused and concerned.
She watched the back door slam shut and sighed, turning back to the front. Nadeen and the others had only met Jason a handful of times, but from those times, they could tell that (Y/N) loved the kid like they were blood. Another sigh passed her lips as her eyes moistened, and she reached up, wiping quickly; (Y/N) still needed her to fly, he needed a rock right now and Nadeen was going to be there for him, even if the least she could do was get him home alive—unlike his baby brother, dead before his sixteenth birthday.
