#bad batch cuddles

Hey, not sure if requests are still open, it’s ok if not, but I had an thought: which of the Bad Batch members are big spoons, and which are little spoons?

Big Spoons, Little Spoons

Echo

Pre-citadel Echo would definitely strike me as someone who would love to be a big spoon, feeling protective and strong as you slept in his arms.

But after, I think he would be neither or big or little spoon. I think him and his other half would lay facing each other, entwined in each others embrace. That way he feels protective with just a hint of vulnerability. It’s not a surprise that Echo sometimes has nightmares which gives you the notion of holding him close, kissing his skin delicately as you help him through it.

He’s a little hesitant with cuddling at first because of his prosthetics but he eases into this type of affection rather quickly. Especially if it’s with someone like you.

Wrecker

Big softie here is always typically the big spoon with his other half. There isn’t many people his size who could easily spoon him and so he settles with being the big spoon. He enjoys it however, holding you close and resting his chin atop of your head as you both lay and watch a holomovie together.

However, you can tell he’s just itching to be the little spoon sometimes and that’s okay!

After a rough mission you would find him in his bunk facing away from everyone and just trying to relax which gives you the perfect chance to scoot in behind him, wrapping your arms around him. You nestle into his back, and feel him take your hand, kissing it softly.

If he ever feels like he’s going to roll back and crush you, he moves carefully and brings you atop of him, letting you sleep across his chest. He’s probably the best to cuddle.

Hunter

Hunter likes being the big spoon. He loves nestling his face into the back of his other half’s neck, embracing your scent and lets all the worries of war fade away. He does worry about his senses at first but finds it incredible relaxing, especially when he can hold his hands to your chest and feel your heartbeat.

He feels strong, masculine and protective being the big spoon and knows he can easily sprint into action if need be without disturbing you.

If you ever offer for him to be the little spoon he laughs at the idea and shakes his head, though does wonder what it would be like. But for the moment, he likes to be the big spoon so he can keep an eye on you and simultaneously everyone/thing around him.

Tech

Little. Spoon.

I feel like Tech would opt to be a little spoon for a countless amounts of reasons after research but the one that comes to my head is that he loves the feeling of someone hugging him whilst he can fiddle about with his data pad and keep working.

He makes sure he’s somewhat cuddling you too wether it be having your legs entwined or having your arm around his upper half of his torso so he can lean down and easily kiss your arms and hands.

But, when it’s time to wind down, he makes no fuss of setting his device down and turning around to face you, keeping you flushed to his chest as he dozes off with his head perched ontop of yours - snoring away gently.

Crosshair

Pre-Imperial Crosshair is adamant that he would never, ever, be the little spoon. To be fair, it’s a surprise he’s willing to cuddle anyway as he isn’t exactly one for touching. But with you, he makes an exception.

He’d go ‘is this it?’ the first time you suggested him to cuddle you from behind, earning him and eyeroll and a playful jab. He’d much rather be doing something else but, he saw how happy and content it made you.

After a few more times, he eased into it and would frown when you don’t lay a particular way so he can’t spoon you which just lifts your heart. Meanie pants is a softie really.

But once he’s rescued from the Empire, he goes back to his reclusive self. However, does not shy away this time from being the little spoon. He needs that comfort.

Clone Cuddle Headcanons

Wrecker is the biggest cuddle bug idk what to tell you. He does run hot however. The amount of times whoever he’s cuddling with wakes up sweating and a thousand degrees is unbelievable. He’s real great to lay on top of though. Right on top. Get up there.

Crosshair is a surprising confusing individual and I keep looking at him in disbelief. He’s not averse to touch but he does want to be the one to initiate it. Especially cuddling. He will sit by himself in silence and then randomly walk up and just plop on top of whoever he’s chosen. They then have to lay there and let him choose the position, the blanket situation, the temperature, etc. otherwise he’ll leave. Cat rules.*

Tech isn’t huge on cuddling either but is willing to not be the initiator if they also respect whatever activity he is doing. If he’s sitting working on a project he will allow one of them to lay their head in his lap or wrap around him as long as they aren’t in the way. He may even play with their hair or rub their backs absentmindedly.

Echo goes through phases. He wants to be touched but not all the time and sometimes he really hates it and other times he really craves it. It’s mainly important to either ask first or let him ask. He likes to sleep near another person and will choose someone to latch on to if he’s in a cuddling mood. Sometimes he literally can’t get enough physical contact to feel comfortable and it drives him up a wall. (Can I please suggest that part of the reason Hunter touches his shoulder so often is bc of those moods where Echo legitimately can’t get enough physical touch. I just think that would be a nice thought.) He feels best when he gets to hold someone else and he is especially partial to Wrecker who not only keeps him warm but also is pretty willing to switch the cuddling up at any point. Good man.

Hunter! Hunter here! Really enjoys a good cuddle! Loves his back scratched or his hair played with! He has passed out on top of the other batchers before and woken up two hours later not knowing where tf he is. He also appreciates a good weight on him so his preferred position if he’s holding somebody is on his back with the other person laying their head on his chest. He runs warm so he’s a good option for the cold nights.

Fives loves everyone’s personal space. Especially Echo’s. He is a cuddle while sleeping type of guy. No need to feel weird about asking him for a cuddle he’s down for it. If anyone sits on the edge of his bed while he’s trying to sleep he rolls over and wraps his arms around their waist and hugs them. Had so much practice at comfort when he was a cadet that it is second nature for him. When he joined the 501st he got real protective of the shinies so they sought him out often when they needed support.

Rex does like a good cuddle but only with specific people. Doesn’t really want to be touched by people he doesn’t know well. Is honestly more accustomed to touch if it’s playful but again. Usually with people he knows well. Likes to lay his head in people’s laps or let them fall asleep on him. Is not too hot or too cold. Got used to the dominos crawling into his bunk while he was asleep and had to adapt to them being clingy on bad days. Got used to it and ended up missing when they weren’t there. Cody calls him a softie. Says they ruined him forever. He gets so grumpy back.

Cody. This man. Idk why but I always headcanon him as a physical touch kind of guy. Doesn’t like overly fond affection in public spaces but is real affectionate in private. Like Rex he’s more comfortable with the playful affection but there’s always a spot in his bed if someone needs it. He’s rarely sleeping through the night anyway. Might as well be the support system for those who need it. More accustom to holding hands honestly. It’s quiet it’s easy he can still use his datapad while he holds someone’s hand.

*I have a cute addition which is that the first time Crosshair plopped down and decided Echo was going to be his cuddle target Echo was in the middle of something and Crosshair just threw whatever Echo was working on aside and laid his head in Echo’s lap while this man just looked at the rest of the batch like ‘help?!? He’s never done this before am I in danger? What do I do!?!’ And everyone else was just like ‘you’re fine just be normal about it’ and after a few minutes of silence he just plopped his hand on Crosshair’s head and that’s how they both accidentally took a three hour nap and woke up disoriented with aching necks.

Week 3

Alt Prompt: "Forget I asked"

A/N: I've seen variations of this scenario around and thought I would add my own iteration into the mix. I hope you enjoy. (Also side note: I am so behind on my schedule for the prompts 😅)

Crosshair was laying on his side in his bunk. His arms were folded across his chest, and he had a scowl on his face. It was well into the night but his brain was wired and he couldn't sleep. He started at the wall of their barracks, the grey the same dull, dank colour as always.

He didn't know why he was so hung up on this. If he just asked Tech he would get an answer and that would be the end of it. He didn't have to make this much of a fuss. But he was, like always he was spinning his thoughts around in his head like the waves on Kamino, over thinking something that was so simple.

Tech was breathing deeply on the bunk attacked to Crosshair's across from Hunter and Wrecker.

Just ask him about it, don't make a big deal out of is and if he says 'no' then that's fine.

He's going to be a soldier one day he can't let silly things as simple as a question stop him in his tracks, and he couldn't let the idea of Tech saying no stop him from asking in the first place. Tech was his brother, his twin, there was nothing for him to be nervous aboout.

Yeah, yeah exactly.

Rolling over with force that was unnecessary, he stands up and walks the three paces to Tech's bunk and raises his arm to tap Tech's shoulder but hesitates. He lowers his arm and opens his mouth instead but doesn't say anything. He closes his mouth and sighs frustratedly he closes his eyes as he does. Suddenly he feels a hand grab his knee and he jumps.

"Crosshair, what in Makers name are you doing?"

Crosshair shoves his hand in his mouth to muffle his yelp of surprise. Tech doesn't look amused and he waits for Crosshair to answer his question.

"Well-" he says pouting slightly at being caught off guard so easily. "-I just wanted to ask you something"

Tech looks confused at Crosshair "Could it not have waited till the morning?"

Tech doesn't seem mad, just confused and sleepy but it's still enough for Crosshair to regret his decision. "You know what, just forget I asked. It doesn't matter"

Crosshair goes to stomp back to his bed but Tech gets up and follows him back those three steps.

"No, it clearly is important, and if you don't tell me now it will bother me all night"

Crosshair sits on his bunk and puts his head on his fist. "I told you to forget about it Tech, you'll say no anyway"

"Well how do you know that? You haven't even asked me"

Crosshair puts his head in his hands irritated. A silence stretches on between Tech and Crosshair before Crosshair mutters "...I just wanted a hug"

Tech didn't answer, Crosshair knew it. He was being stupid; he should have just stayed in his bunk.

"Oh, was that all it was. I thought something was wrong"

Crosshair looks at Tech from the edge of his hand "So it that a yes? Or a no?"

Tech answers by sitting on the bunk beside Crosshair and placing an arm over his shoulder. Slowly Crosshair leans over and rests his head on Tech's shoulder, Tech doesn't move away so neither does Crosshair. The stay like that a while, listening to the buzzing of the lights, the sound of each others breathing and the light rain that is pattering against the window of their room.

Crosshair closed his eyes for only a moment, but when he opened them again, he and Tech had moved back into the alcove of Crosshair's bunk.

Tech was leaning against the wall, Crosshair's head was resting on his shoulder, and he had his blanket tucked around his legs. Tech was also talking to Hunter who was standing in front of the two of them.

Crosshair felt his cheeks grow warm as he looked sheepishly at Hunter.

But Hunter didn't tease him, no Hunter did something Crosshair didn't expect. Seeing Crosshair was awake he smiled at his brother, walked over to Wrecker's bunk pulling him sleepily out of his bed whilst grabbing their blankets and crawling onto Crosshair's bunk.

Tech must've told him.

Hunter sat down on the other side of Crosshair and wrapped his arm around Crosshair along side Tech. Wrecker yawns and lays down resting his head on Hunters lap.

All Crosshair wanted was a hug and he ended up getting more affection than he could have hoped for from the people he cared about most
