I don't understand why I'm still getting "liked by" posts by someone I unfollowed... I am kind of sick of seeing them since it's like... nothing but softcore porn that doesn't appeal to me lol, but I don't want to turn off all likes since some people have pretty great ones. Why can't [tumblr] have an option just to follow likes per user? Stupid af.

tumblr's official response to the Clown Ad

(I have an ad blocker- I don't NEED to pay tumblr). I paid for ad-free browsing because I want to support the site which I have made my on-line home for over 10 years. they made some positive changes this past year--until August I was hopeful...

Then they blocked my access with a Clown on my dash. An AD! Advertising a TV show during an actors/writers Strike...

so I wrote an official complaint- demanding a refund of my Ad-Free subscription:

hullo- i have an active paid subscription to Ad Free Browsing. last week for several days - a large ad (for a netflix show??!) was placed OVER the right side of my dash and account info. I could not access the "next" button to move through my previous dashboard pages. additionally- the ad was visually Disturbing, and clicking it by accident caused changes to my dash that I did not want or ask for. I'm visually impaired and These changes to the background made it impossible to use the site. I had to use an external browser extension to find and disable this element. DESPITE HAVING PAID YOU TO NOT SEE ADS. THIS is unacceptable. I would like a refund of my ad free subscription.

This is fucking atrocious. It’s not enough to make us consistently have to snooze tumblr live. It’s not enough to put the live button in the middle of the menu bar so you keep accidentally clicking it. But now they’re adding it in as you scroll too? What the actual fuck!

I am so fucking sick of this shit being forced down my throat. I am so fed up. I want it gone forever and no matter how much it’s forced on me I will never use this absolute travesty of a so-called ‘feature’. This is not TikTok and that’s why we like it here.

Nowadays when I open a PDF on my work computer and immediately hit ctrl+F to search the document for something, usually because I’m looking for a specific section of a manual or something, Adobe PDF reader gives me a little popup that says “Click here to learn about our powerful AI summary features :) :) :)” and it covers the Carl+F box and there’s no way to get rid of it except to wait about 15 seconds. YOU MAKE ME SEARCH FOR MINUTES AND GAVE ME 1-2 CLICKS MORE THAN BEFORE?!?? Once again: that is the opposite of optimizing the UX/UI (USER EXPERIENCE -> your userbase = tumblr user and not twitter user btw). Optimizing would mean same or less clicks and more intuitivity.

Also the sticking dropdown menu before was good as it was... why drag all of that neatly tugged in menu outside just to clutter everyone's screen T_T

This update sucks nuts and not because it's new or different, but because it's too busy. It's too noisy and cluttered and HOLY SHIT WHAT DO I FOCUS ON

THIS? Hot garbage. It's NOISE. There's too much happening. What the fuck am i supposed to focus on here? Not only that, but the information doesn't even fit on the page entirely. You talked about wanting to get more 'new' or 'unknown' posts in front of people and yet the radar is hidden and the 'check out these' section just reads as more noise, Don't even get me started on how the Tumblr Live feed just looks like if I click on it i will get nothing but viruses.

So. Let's do some tweaking.

Still cluttered, but less terrifying! This is 15 minutes shuffling things around. Give me a full day and I could do more but this is just to get the idea across,

You got too many visual elements going on rn and it's Too Much. And a lot of it users just CAN'T get rid of. So. Let them. A collapseable sidebar of Discover will let them choose whether they want to engage with it or not, while still keeping the site balanced visually.

Condensing the Stupid live feed into a section along with your following tags and the for you tab keeps it all together, again so people who want to engage in that media CAN,

Like i really cannot stress how terrible this update is from a clutter standpoint. Please. Less is more. I get you wanna be twitter, you want to be friendly to the folks who use twitter, but do you even know what parts of twitter they engaged with??
