Does Spider know that she was made to be a human recom in your genderbent au? And if ao how did she find out?
She learns slowly, over time.
When she’s young, Nora simplifies it—she just refers to Quaritch as her “mother.” It’s softer than the truth, which would be something like: “You were a genetic backup, grown in case Quaritch’s human body died… which it did. So, oops, you’re the forgotten emergency eggshell they left behind.”
The real story doesn’t come out all at once. Maybe Spider finds old files about her own DNA and notices there’s only one parent strand. Or maybe someone slips up and says something they shouldn’t. Either way, it hits her hard when the pieces start to fall into place.
She tries not to show how much it affects her—but it does. Deeply. It also helps explain why Neytir is so cold toward her. Why she’s discouraged from spending time with the Sully kids. That distance stings, but eventually, it starts to make a painful kind of sense.
It’s a sad reality of her existence. But it doesn’t truly hit until the second act, when it’s revealed that Quaritch is still alive. Her Avatar—with all her memories—is part of the new wave of RDA enforcement.
That changes everything.
Spider hates her. She sees Quaritch as the reason she’ll never be fully accepted by Neytir or the Omatikaya. But more than that—she’s terrified. Is Quaritch here for her? To take her back? To use her body?
That’s why she was created, right?
But Quaritch is… fascinated. She didn’t even know the human clone project had been approved. Yet here’s this girl—a genetic copy, but with no memories. A new soul.
Avatar Quaritch is a copy of the mind and soul of her original self. Spider is a copy of the body—but with something entirely new inside.
And that makes Quaritch see her as a strange, unexpected daughter. A younger version of herself. A clean slate. She begins to feel something like protectiveness. Something conflicted, and dangerous, and real.
And that makes everything way more complicated.
Because if the RDA ever gets their hands on Spider, would they store her? Keep her hidden away until she’s old enough to be used? Would Quaritch try to claim her—to step back into a human body using Spider like a spare uniform?
When Spider is taken, the Omatikaya don’t move immediately.
To protect their people, Jane and Neytir flee with their children. They don’t risk the clan. Not for this.
But not before Jane and Nora have a massive fight.
Nora wants her to do something. To get Spider back. Jane—already in soldier mode—tries to explain: The Omatikaya can't possibly fight this. The RDA base is too heavily guarded. Storming it would cost lives they can’t afford to lose.
And how is she supposed to justify that risk? “Let’s go rescue the clone of the colonel responsible for the deaths of thousands?”
Even if she wants to… how does she ask that of them?
And K'ir—oh, sweet K'ir—is not happy.
He’s furious.
His relationship with Neytir has always been strained because of how his father treats Spider. But when he sees his mother refuse to fight for her—that’s what breaks his heart.
Those emotions don’t fade. They deepen. And they begin to change him.
He starts relying more on his own thoughts, his own instincts. He draws closer to Eywa, not out of peace, but out of need. He begins to wonder: Can I find Spider—through Eywa?
(Which I’ll make a separate post about: how and what K'ir is in relation to Grant—because obviously, that’s a bit different than in the canon movies…)

today i'm in a huge chardee mood and i honestly feel like chardee is on par with macdennis in terms of how fucked up the dynamic between the both of them are, i've been thinking about how both charlie and dee are clearly attracted to one another, they both have this inferiority complex towards mac and dennis, dee because she knows she's not included in the same way that the guys are in the gang and charlie because he knows he has to go against his own instinct to please his friends (as shown in the gang misses the boat), the amount of attraction/repulsion between them is HUGE (dee thinks that charlie is gross but she can't help being attracted to him, charlie struggles with his sexual attraction altogether and his view of dee is so manipulated by mac and dennis), i can see how time's up for the gang kills this relationship but also it's just so tragic if you take into account how charlie struggles with sexuality due to his traumas and how dee must have linked romantic and sexual attraction so she might have come on too strong for charlie's complicated view of sexuality. dee is basing her self-worth on sexual gratification and charlie is completely insecure and unsure about his own sexual attraction/practices. i'm really sad that they chose to write it like this too bc it really destroys a complex and interesting bond!!! i mean they spent covid together... i have so many questions on what their daily life was like at that point too AAAAAHHHH.
tldr save me chardee save me

This is gonna get super long so sorry in advance but I wanted to put it out there that I would pay real good money to know what Lando and Martin's friends think of the whole thing.
Like on Lando's side you have his lifelong friends who are his safety bubble who he spends all his time with, he always tends toward his close known circle rather than throwing himself into a ton of new friendships (Carlos being an exception but the teammate bond plus the covid bubble was a big accelerator there and of the group only Sasha really seemed to embrace that friendship, the others even mock it at times). And since he's been in F1, they've watched Lando gradually start to be more outgoing and lose some of his shyness but its first half of 2022 and he still clings to their bubble, even now he has a serious gf. Also he lets them tag along on nights out with people like Max Verstappen so they're all happy with that. Then come Summer 2022 there they all are on their traditional yacht vacation this time in Ibiza, and Lando takes them to meet a famous DJ that Danny Ric has helped Lando to get them backstage at his gig. They know Lando's getting into DJ'ing so they likely don't think much of it beyond cool, we get to meet Martin Garrix.
And then pretty much from that moment on they would have watched Lando throw himself headfirst into a new friendship with this DJ, going to stay in his hometown after just a few weeks, they see this dude buy Lando a DJ'ing set up even tho he barely knows him, then Lando checks out early from their annual winter Dubai trip to go on vacation with the DJ taking only Martin K with him, he starts hanging backstage at this DJs shows and before his buddies know it they find they've been more or less ditched during any F1 breaks except for the odd bone of a week of attention here and there thrown their way. I remember Fewtrell in early summer 23 on a stream bemoaning with Connor about how their yacht trips no longer happened and Fewtrell was like it will again, I've had words, and I've never heard anything that made me think "ha you'll be lucky" quite so fast. I also remember Fewtrell trying to bring Martin up on stream once when Lando was staying at his, must have been like Feb/March time, Lando mentioned learning to produce and Fewtrell made a comment like 'oh is Garrix teaching you' a little sarcastically and Lando just went 'yes' and shut the conversation down in an instant, like he was saying no, you don't get to go there and Fewtrell's face was a picture, he looked like a kicked puppy for a second before remembering there was a camera on him. They also see Lando getting adopted by Martin's close circle of friends and him adopting them in return. And then having been ditched most of the year, Lando's group find an about turn this winter when Martin actually goes on vacation with them for once and they're permitted to get to know him, before they then watch Lando head off to be glued to Martin's hip for more or less the entire rest of the winter break.
And then on Martin's side you have his lifelong friends who yes have become friendly with some other people around him who Martin's good friends with, they know Danny Ric from when Danny goes to Ibiza and they've gotten to know Max over the years, but here Martin is in late 2022 suddenly parachuting this young F1 driver he's only known a handful of weeks right into their Amsterdam world, not even Ibiza but their hometown. They got to know him in that time I guess, and then just as suddenly Martin is going on vacation with this dude, making an effort to fit spending time with him into his hyper-busy schedule. Lando even makes another visit to their hometown mid-summer. And then come end of Summer 2023 they are all on vacation together in Ibiza, Lando is staying with them in a villa there and they have adopted him to the point he's part of their core group celebrating their birthdays. (As an aside, I can't help but think they must have spent much more time with Lando than we know prior to Ibiza 2023 for him to be staying in a villa with them and them calling him family at that stage and for Lando to look so comfortable and at home around them. There has to have been time they have spent with Lando when he has been with Martin that we have no idea about for them to consider him part of their group that way).
Then this winter they've not only watched Martin be essentially glued to Lando's side for a vast majority of his free time and going on vacation with Lando's close circle but have also been witness to their entire carryon, things like the matching clothing, the vacation couple postcard pics etc all of which seems quite out of character even for someone as affectionate as Martin is. Like I've only followed Martin since he became friendly with Lando but I don't see him doing this kinda thing with anyone else. Thinking about it, his friends have likely been witness to their carryon for a while if those loud shirt & shorts combos from Ibiza were anything to go by.
I'll end this now as it's got out of hand (Sorry!) but I really truly would love to know what both sets of friends thoughts are on it all. Like I wonder if they all just realized gradually over time the way things were going or if they've actually had moments of sitting back and going wtf??!!
While I love the idea of an outsider's pov on the insanity of the trajectory of Lando and Martin's relationship, I hesitate to make it sound like Lando's older friends are leaches or that he's abandoned them, and that's something they feel spite for.
Lando did spend time with Max F during the first bit of Summer this year, and I believe Tom was in Ibiza at one point. He's had dinner with Max and Pietra and Pietra's family a few times. We've also seen them together (Tom specifically) in Monaco a few times during non-race weeks with a few of Lando's newer friends. As practically lifelong friends who find themselves on different career and relationship paths, it probably takes a bit of adjusting to changes in plans (e.g., Lando and co not going on the yacht this year).
Meeting someone new and involving yourself with their friends to the point where they become your own doesn't necessarily mean you drop your childhood ones. Sometimes friend groups don't mix and you do different things with each one.
I'm sure both parties though recognize how important each of them are to each other, especially when Lando is so firm with his boundaries and not wanting to talk Martin up. Martin bringing Lando into his group and introducing him to everyone in itself seems to be a very pointed and powerful stance on what he thinks in the first place. It is indeed a little crazy to think about when you stop moving for a minute and let your brain run.

so... i've been thinking about auriel again because i actually did have an account for her once upon a time (just on another platform) + all i can remember is doing this roleplay on there with barton immediately asking the person whom told him they saw her was whether she was okay because she had went missing with no trace for years after all. and additionally, this was also while shedding tears like there was NO tomorrow, which is 😭 like he isn't a good person, y'all, but he does have his moments where it actually seems like he genuinely cares about people
#OF MONSTERS AND MEN: musings.#ooc post.#and to expand on this i'm going back to the point that i believe i stated a long time ago about barton being confusing at times#i mean as a character OFC because he did things like take jack julien and ben in without expecting anything in return from them#man's just spotted jack and julien in particular after they'd been abandoned by their foster parent + he saw themselves in them a#little bit because at a very young age he went from having one person in his life to having none. and barton himself knows that his dad was#a POS while he was alive but he wanted so badly to be loved by him even though wesley usually never gave him the time of day#if he wasn't actively being barton's ab*ser and this made his feelings towards wesley more complicated than one could explain even#though he KNOWS that what wesley did to him was wrong and he should absolutely hate his dad for what he did to him.#it's just that barton felt abandoned by his mother + so he poured himself into his relationship with his dad BC he was all he had#if that makes any sense buttt yeah. barton taking in those two was an arguably good thing though i know that barton is certainly not#the best caretaker to say the least they wouldn't have survived on their own. and barton trying to be a better person (albeit with mixed-#results) for marcy also showed that he was willing to sacrifice some thing's for her but barton is ultimately like. the worst-#whenever it comes to impulse control + he had this bloodlust in him that was there since at least his teenage years partially#because of everything he'd seen ans went through as a kid with the other part being on him OFC BC taking responsibility is something#you've got to do no matter what but GAHHH. yeah i just... i'm thinking about my angel girl today even though she ain't a literal angel#she could just manifest wings out of her own blood or someone else's because she can make constructs out of it (blood)#tw: blood#tw: child abandonment#tw: child abuse#tw: unhealthy family dynamics.

rafe cameron x sleepy!reader
Tumblr media
summary : you were just the sleepiest girl of the town. (kinda sweet smutty prompt / etablished relationship. soft! boyfriend!rafe.)
warnings : except smut, nothing much. bad sleeping shedule.
author's note : /.
Tumblr media
“ I’m fucking tired.” you yawned as you entered the room. since the beginning of the evening, you had only been looking forward to getting back to the soft comfort of your bed.
you couldn't help but become sleepy, which meant letting your boyfriend take care of you because you were unable to stay awake. you never needed to be careful because rafe cameron always had his eyes on you. and as long as you were next to him, as long as he could feel you even if you were dead asleep and drooling over his chest, he allowed you to take a nap on his lap for hours. it was one of your few privileges.
something he didn't allow was people waking you up. if it he had to shut down every fucking noisy kook in a room to let you sleep, he would do it. it was his own version of let me burn the world for you but in a better way, more like let me quit this entire world for you.
you loved these moments of calm and peace when you slept wearing only one of his t-shirts acting like a dress around your naked body, and white high socks.
rafe was spooning you while you were already falling asleep, the reassuring and warm feeling of his cold fingers slipping under your t-shirt, his large hands covering the flesh of your waist , letting his strong arms gently slowly pulling you towards him. the shushing sound of his lips hovering your neck as you were dragged by his thick fingers. your barely covered body lazily comes closer, as soft breaths break the silence of your mouth, quickly followed by the sleepy whines of your tall boyfriend that holds his grip tighter in your hips, making sure you can't go anywhere, even if you were in a deep sleep.
you had a complicated relationship with your sleep schedule because you were sleeping both too much and not enough at the same. you could be fully awake at 5am but literally dead asleep at 12pm. for the simple reason that you were not sleeping at the right time, nor at the right hour, nor in the right place. you were one of those sleepiest girls who would disappear for hours not because you were going out on the town with friends or even stepping foot outside, but because you would sleep for hours on end.
you told rafe that you were just closing your eyes to take a nap but you ended up waking up in the evening.
when you woke up, you were completely lost and disorganized but above all so tired. it was almost ridiculous. your boyfriend was now used to your eyes half-closed, your hair completely messed up and across your exhausted face, drool on the corner of your lip with that oh-so-stupid expression.
he lay down on the bed, while you looked at him with wide opened eyes. at this point, you weren't even sure you recognized your own boyfriend. “ rafe ? ”
“still asleep, babe? "
his voice was usually low, while he brushed away the trail of drool that was leaking from your mouth with his thumb. you nodded, and he smiled. “ such a baby. ”
you were a terrible temptation. he could have fucked you while you were sleeping. and maybe that was even what you wanted sometimes when you slept so scantily dressed, leaving your tiny thong in full view while you lay on your back, legs unconsciously spread.
“let me help you…” he whispered as he flipped you onto the bed, pushing your thighs apart to make himself a place. he had pulled down his boxers without removing them completely, before forcing your legs open with one hand. "fucking wet. i bet you dreamed about that dick inside you."
the smirk on his face was pretty charming and sick, and he pushed the fat tip of his cock against your soaked slit, before making morning slaps on your little glistening cunt. his length was so hard, hitting your sensitive bud. the plushy mushroom getting glossy from your weeping hole. he looked at you, holding his dick in a hand with your wetness dripping from the shaft, as you had a hard times focusing on his movements but he squeezed your cheeks on his hands, pulling your face closer to him. “ get that mouth open, want to be able to spit on it whenever i want. ”
it was also a pretty excuse for him to force you to keep your eyes open. when he first pushed in with a hard thrust that literally arched all your body, you screamed out of pleasure and pain. he didn't wait before starting working his dick faster in your swollen cunt. you always take him so good, and he can't help but pound you even deeper every time he hears your sleepily voice moaning softly, the whining getting louder and bigger as he stretches you open. you were too good, a forbidden pleasure for sure, your sloppy pussy fully soaked him.
little by little, you begin to be fully awake, eyes filled with shining tears. you were a mess that was crying and panting from the roughness of your boyfriend, crybaby whines begging for rafe’s attention. your mouth getting muffled by his, he shushed you through the kiss, heavy breath and drool falling between your lips. “ s-s-slow down ! ” you cried out.
he mocked you gently, answering with a wicked smile. “ what about faster ? thought that's what you wanted ? ”he was still fucking you, but now a hand reached your throat, as the thickness of his length stuffed the inside of your walls, hitting all the spots. “ r-rafe. ” you exploded.
you were shaking, gasping for air and throbbing, eyes still locked in rafe's gaze while you lost your mind, thinking of how deep he was inside you. your cunt still twitching around his cock, making you unable to catch your breath and literally choking against the hand pressed on your throat. you were already tired, the inner of your thighs dripping with arousal and legs breaking with each thrusts. and those massive orgasms didn't help. his face was now sweaty from the heat and the sex, hot breaths escaping his lips and absolutely no sign of exhaustion. he could fuck you to death. and you wish you could reach this level but you were already too drained by the fast back and forth. “ this is how i should wake up my sleepy girl every morning. don't you think ? ”
he finally managed to cum, spilling thicks of loads inside you. your head failing in the bed as he slowly pulled his dick out, before pushing it into your mouth. the sight of your tongue licking every single drop of juice left him even horny, your pretty lips weeped with cum and wetness, that he smeared with the tip of his cock, before letting you clean everything.
“ it was not a fuck, it was an attempted murder. ” you told him.
“ don't inspire me for round 2, you will regret it. ”
“ don't complain me about why i sleep this much when you fucking me like that. ”
Tumblr media
“ i'm fucking tired…” you said, a little yawn leaving your mouth as rafe and you entering the room after a living pool party, were you literally rested on your boyfriend’s lap during all the event, falling asleep on his shoulder as he was still talking with his friends.
he was now used to since he dated you from a long moment. he was now able to take care of you every time you fell asleep. as always, there was no warning. you could be smiling, living the party, it doesn't mean you were not sleepy. He sometimes complained about how much you slept, but at the same time, how much you didn't get enough sleep.
“ no shit. you were literally drooling over me. ” he said sarcastically. “ lift your arms. ” he commanded, before helping you remove your dress.
he almost passed out when your breasts literally bounced out of your bra as your arms leaned down, his dick slightly growing and forming a bulge inside his pants. but damn, it was not the moments because he knows for sure that you will now fall asleep. AGAIN.
“ do you think topper is mad at me for sleeping at his birthday’s party ? ”
“ do i look like the type of boyfriend that i care about what another man is feeling about my girlfriend ? because, i'm not. ”
“ it was rude…. it's his birthday ! ”
“ babe, i could even fuck you right in front of him that he wouldn't even care or remarks. don't you see how he was just drooling like a dog because of my sister ? ”
“ maybe, i should call…”
rafe had raised an eyebrow, his jaw twitching slightly as you pulled on one of his t-shirts. “ since when do you have topper’s number ? ”
“I mean with your phone. Why would I have his number. Anyways, i'm sorry for this…it's pretty embarrassing. ”
“ What about looking me in the eyes if you at least want me to believe you about your apologies?”
“ Don't fight me right now, i'm tired.”
“ And actually, when you're not ? ” he mocked, and you finally looked at him.
“ When i'm sleeping, it's obvious. ”
“ You forget when i fuck you’. It doesn't seems like you're very tired. ”
after showering and brushing your teeths, you moved to your favorite place in the world — your bed. you loved the clean of the sheets. you covered yourself with the blanket, dropping only your head out.
when rafe appareaded, you couldn't help but stare at his perfect body. you followed his moves, lurking to the good and big shape of his biceps, the well-sculpted ridges of his abs, the visible v-line curved on his hips. “ don't look at me like that. ” he warned.
“ then i will look at someone else. ”
“ funny. ” he said, chuckling without smiling. “ that you think i will let you do such a thing. but keep daydreaming. ”
“ no need to be jealous. there is no kooks better than you. ”
“ does it mean there are pogues better than me ? ”
you sighed, shaking your head and crossing your arms.
“ i don't even hang out with pogues ! don't take it in the wrong way. what about watching a good movie before sleeping ? ”
“ be serious. i know you well, you're gonna fall asleep before the movie even starts. ”
“ no ! i'm fully awake. ”
“ which movies do you want to watch ? and there is no way i'm gonna watch that fucking film with a black cat and a ladybug. ”
“ then what about five nights at Freddy's ? ”
“ sounds better. ” he simply said, while typing on the dashboard.
your gaze leaned down on his ringed fingers, fast and thick. your slowly opened your lips, imagining how much they can stretch your mouth, leaving her with a pool of drool from how wet they're from your saliva. but also, how much they will manage to keep your mouth open without effort.
a sparkle shone in your eyes, and you wrapped your arm around rafe's one, making him look without really giving you full attention. “ what you want ? ”
“ nothing. did you find the movie ? ”
“ you like horror movies ? ”
“ no, i like josh. ”
“ bet he died at the end of the movie. ”
“ rafe ! ”
“ yea, keep crying. ”
he started the movie but you were very sleepy. again. you forced yourself to keep your eyes open but it was really hard. you blinked so many times to fight the urge of sleeping, but you're finally falling asleep.
rafe didn't stopped the movie because he was now too invested in it, but let your head rest against his naked chest, stroking your hair gently.
at the beginning of your relationship, it was so new for him to be this close to a person, to reach this type of intimacy but now he was craving for it, finding peace and comfort.
you were his sleepy girlfriend that was now sleeping over him, but will probably wake up in five hours when he will be dead asleep while, you will be looking for a nocturnal activity, trying to not wake him up.
sometimes, and a lot of times, you have sleepless nights that make you even more tired, and fall asleep early or late in the morning. you could feel though the sleep, rafe's arm loosening around your body as he manages to leave the bed to start the day while you just catching your night.
“ good morning, rafe. ”
“ it's 7pm. ”
“ ... ”

it’s genuinely wild how often weak hero gets reduced to "bromance,” like the story is just about a particularly intense friendship and not something far more complicated, far more intimate. this isn't just shippers projecting. this isn't just wishful thinking. you don’t need the director and cast members repeatedly claiming that suho and sieun are each other's first love to interpret that on your own. the narrative already tells you—quietly, devastatingly, and with absolute clarity.
the queer subtext isn’t subtle. it’s not hidden in glances or throwaway lines. it’s built into the structure of their relationship, in every decision they make. suho knew beomseok had tampered with his bike. that wasn’t just bullying; it was a premeditated act of violence. he knew what kind of danger he was walking into when he went to the ring, and he went anyway. alone. outnumbered. no illusions. he knew he could die. but he went. because they hurt sieun. because sieun got hurt for him.
that’s their language. not confession, but action. not sentiment, but sacrifice. die for each other. kill for each other.
and sieun, who had always been defined by his discipline, his detachment, his spotless academic record? he lets himself spiral. he got expelled. stopped eating. stopped sleeping. stopped going to cram school. when he found out suho was in critical condition, he froze in the middle of the street and didn’t move, even with a car speeding toward him. as if life without suho wasn’t a life worth returning to.
he came back from a coma asking for suho, looking for him. suho was already in one because of him. they revolve around each other like twin stars caught in gravity’s pull—self-destructive, unstoppable, and impossibly close. love doesn’t always look like romance, but that doesn’t make it less real. or less queer.
so no, it’s not just a bromance. and if that’s all you see—if you can watch all of that and not feel the weight of what’s being said without words? then i'm sorry, but you’ve missed the entire point.

𝑺𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒐𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒅
Spencer throws out a comment so uncharacteristically bold that even Morgan is speechless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
wc: 768 | F!Reader (established relationship) | cw: VERY suggestive
A/N: I’m honestly blown away by all the love on my first fic—thank you so much! I’ve got more in the works, including blurbs and maybe even a few one-shots. My asks are open, so feel free to send requests or just chat! Hope you enjoy this one—it's short and oh so sweet <3
Tumblr media
Your desk was a mess—files spread out, coffee half-drunk, and a notepad filled with half-legible scribbles. Across from you, Spencer was deep in his own pile of paperwork, meticulously writing everything out by hand, as usual. Despite having access to every digital tool imaginable, he still swore by pen and paper, claiming it helped him retain information better. It was kinda endearing, in a stubborn, old-man way.
You were in the middle of reviewing a case file, flipping through pages while absentmindedly tapping your pen against your desk, when you heard Morgan stroll over to Spencer’s desk.
“Come on, pretty boy,” Morgan said, dropping his coffee onto Spencer's desk with a thud. “You mean to tell me you, the guy who once used the word ‘cloacal kiss’ in casual conversation, has nothing to say about his own mating habits?”
Your fingers hovered over your mouse as you scrolled through your playlist on your monitor, hesitating between switching to something instrumental or letting the indie rock keep playing. Oh boy. Here we go.
Spencer barely looked up, flipping a page in his file. “Because, unlike you, I don’t feel the need to turn my personal life into locker room talk.”
Morgan grinned. "I’m just saying, man, if all that reading has you treating sex like a final exam, I got some study guides for you."
Spencer finally lifted his head, blinking at him like he was the dumbest person alive. “Morgan, your definition of 'expertise' is having a lot of experience. Mine is actually understanding the mechanics of what you’re talking about.”
Morgan scoffed. “That’s not even—listen, Savannah and I are solid, okay? And I’m just saying, for a guy who overexplains everything, you sure get real quiet about this topic.”
Spencer gave him a flat look, putting his pen down. "Morgan, sex isn’t complicated. It’s just applied physics with a little bit of chemistry—and if done correctly, some very impressive biology."
JJ, who had apparently been listening in, snorted. "That might be the nerdiest thing you’ve ever said—and that’s saying something."
Morgan threw up his hands. "See? This is what I’m talking about! The man could turn seduction into a science fair project."
Morgan pointed at Spencer, then at you, then back at Spencer, clearly trying to form a comeback. Before he could, Spencer sighed and said, "Morgan, what do you want me to say? Yes, I have sex. Yes, I enjoy it. No, I’m not about to give you a play-by-play."
Morgan opened his mouth, then closed it, then opened it again, searching for something—anything—that wouldn't result in him taking yet another loss. Finally, he let out a deep sigh, grabbed his coffee, and pointed a finger at Spencer. "We're not done."
Spencer just smiled, leaning back slightly in his chair. "Morgan, I hate to break it to you, but we were done the moment you started this conversation."
You were still working, or at least making a half-hearted attempt at it, but you weren’t exactly subtle. Your grip on the pen had tightened, your page-flipping slowed, and the barely-contained smirk on your face was giving you away completely. Spencer noticed—of course, he did. His sharp eyes flicked toward you, and the way his lips curled just slightly told you he knew you were listening.
He tilted his head, eyebrows raised in amusement. "Don’t act like you didn’t hear that."
You huffed, shaking your head as you clicked play on your music.
The first few soft notes of "Juno" by Sabrina Carpenter filtered through your headphones.
But your mind was already elsewhere—lingering on the way Spencer had leaned back so casually, how he hadn’t hesitated once, how damn sure of himself he had been. You bit your lip, heat crawling up your spine. You liked the way he’d said it—like he knew exactly what effect he had on you, and he wasn’t afraid to use it. Like he enjoyed it. Like he was claiming something, not just stating a fact. And that was the part that really got to you. You liked being seen, being wanted, being talked about like you were something worth studying, something worth knowing inside and out.
But you were at work. And work meant focus, control, and professionalism. You exhaled, straightening in your chair and forcing your attention back to the case file in front of you. Even as you tried to push it aside, the heat still curled in your stomach, his voice replaying in your head like a song you couldn’t shake.
And then, as if on cue, Sabrina Carpenter’s voice cut through the moment:
 "Sorry if you feel objectified."

Joel’s got a gift.
He knows things—most of the time.
It was a sense, a lay of the land, he liked to call it.
But, you had managed to slip under his radar for too long.
He sought you out often, knowing you were reliable.
If he needed something fixed in a pinch? You had it.
A project to build in a day or two? You’d work twice as hard.
Forcing himself to work into the night on his own? You were always there to offer support.
It didn’t go unnoticed, but Joel had let you slip by the wayside lately.
Because, when you were around him, you were happy.
Bright, full of a life he couldn’t ever manage to encompass, admiring how people fed off of your energy, always laughing and smiling in your presence.
Joel didn’t deserve that—so often, he kept his distance.
Though, that didn’t stop him from late night conversations and drinking to wrap up a build when you often helped him finish up projects that would easily have taken him through the night, getting it done before dawn just so Joel could catch himself a few hours of sleep.
If he wasn’t talking about the work that needed to be done around town, he’d listen to you talk about nonsense that neither of you would remember come morning. He liked to talk to you about Ellie, knowing little about their relationship other than it being complicated, albeit Joel seemed to have a distinct care for it.
For her.
He could be more of himself when it was just you two, alone.
No watchful eyes to scrutinize you or him—as lovely as Jackson was, gossip and conversation was all most people could cling to outside of their daily jobs within the walls.
Summer in Jackson meant that there would be a swell of projects during the short three month window—but that also meant more of a workload to take on when you weren’t on the job with Joel.
The primary seamstress in Jackson had been backed up for months and you offered to share some of the stress, working dutifully on your days and hours off, even into the dark and quiet hours of the night where everything seemed to draw still.
Your hands ached for a number of reasons, but the pricks and pokes from sewing and twisting and holding your fingers in one position for an extended period of time had proved your body wasn’t handling the overload of work in a healthy manner.
And it didn’t help that often woke up with a distinct heat in your back, a sharp pain that tugged when you kneeled down to far or overexerted yourself with carrying around supplies, hiding the grimace in your face when Joel was around as you buried your head and trudged past.
But, Joel takes notice one particular morning.
Usually you’re good at hiding it, but with the amount of men who were showing up to your doorstep with rips in their jeans and shirts tattered to hell, you had been trying your best to keep yourself afloat.
“We’ve got six builds that need to be finished by the end of the week,” Joel begins as he leans against his desk, flipping through a thin stack of papers as he lists off what projects were taking priority and who would be assigned where.
Joel is habitual, making sure that every one of you makes eye contact with him as he explains what he expects of the day, going down the line until he lands on you, realizing that your eyes had drifted shut and your head rested against your fist.
Quietly, he waves everyone out to start the day before he approaches you quietly, twisting up the paper into a thin cylinder before he taps it against your cheek, his opposite hand resting against his hip.
You wake with a sudden startle, glancing tiredly around the room to find it empty.
Except for Joel.
Joel, who was staring down at you with a mix of amusement and worry, mouth downturned but his eyes soft, slowly morphing into a kind smile as your eyes landed on him.
“I’m sorry,” you say without him speaking, suddenly sleeping as you tuck your hands between your legs and Joel notices the bandages wrapped around your fingers, sparsely throughout but still enough that he takes notice, “I’m sorry, really,”
“You sleepin’ alright?” Joel asks curiously, tilting his head further to look at you as you nod, only managing to look at him briefly before your chin dips, massaging the inside of your palm with the fingers of your opposite hand.
You notice Joel’s hand extend as he tosses the papers on his desk, a movement that you don’t immediately react to, but as you glance up to look at Joel, his lips are pulled tight, repeating the motion with his fingers as he silently asks for your hand.
Reluctantly, you offer one hand and his other palm opens, accepting the other.
Joel notices the healing cuts on the inside of your palm, some fresher than others, and the white cloth wrapped tight around suspected wounds of a similar nature, some tinged with a faint pink and Joel sighs, a harsh breath through his nose.
“You know, I’m not a masochist,” Joel explains, and you look at him with a raised brow of disbelief, one that he responds with a faint tug of a smile as he turns his head away to answer as he scrunches his nose to wash away twitch of his lips,  “I’m not gonna hate you for askin’ for a day off—two, if you need it,”
“These aren’t—” you quickly tug your hands away, “they’re not from building or anything,”
Joel raises his eyebrows in curiosity, silently asking you to elaborate.
“I dunno, you know how I am,” you begin to ramble softly, the couch dipping with weight as Joel comes to sit by you, elbows resting on his knees as he listens, “I get restless, I need to keep myself busy—I thought I could help out Elaine with fixing up clothes, stuff is precious, you know?”
“When do you have the time?” Joel asks, well aware of your schedule as you rarely left time for yourself outside of work and mandatory town meetings once a week.
“When I’m off,” you shrug, admitting more quietly, “usually at night or mornings when I can’t sleep, sometimes I’ll try to fit it in during a lunch break or something,”
“Or something,” Joel echoes, nodding as he laughs softly, “well—you just earned yourself a vacation then,”
“No, I’m fine,” you assure him, “a cup of coffee and I’ll be on my feet just fine. I’ve got insomnia, I’m a little worn down, but I don’t need special treatment,”
You try to match his rhythm as he stands, refusing to be bossed around but the pain in your back comes back tenfold and you wince through clenched teeth as Joel’s hand hovers out of instinct, looking up at him with a subtle annoyance he had become very familiar with.
“Special treatment my ass,” Joel retorts, “I’m lookin’ out for you like I would any of the others,”
Somehow, you find that to be untrue.
He can see it on your face, too.
“I’m your boss,” Joel argues, “you really wanna argue with me?”
“Is that a trick question?”
“Alright, three days off” Joel challenges and you sigh, throwing your hands up in defeat.
“Fine, I’ll take a couple days off,” you agree, though obviously reluctant.
Joel walkies Tommy a moment later, explaining the situation vaguely as he gives his younger brother the rundown for the day, seeming to pass off his own responsibilities too.
“You’re good at that,” Tommy comments as Joel grabs his mug from the edge of his desk, “pissin’ him off without tryin’—ain’t as good as me, but—”
“Tommy,” Joel warns with a dismissive roll of his eyes before he nods for you to follow him, his hand hovering behind your back with a presence that overwhelms you, feeling the heat of his hand so near but not quite touching.
You look over to find his face pensive, but aware of your gaze, his face softening at your own expression, feeling your own attempt at a lack of emotion slip as you chew at the inside of your cheek, a moment of understanding seeming to string you together.
Joel wasn’t going down without a fight, but neither were you.
His initial instinct is to walk you to your own home—comfort in your own environment and all, but the moment he steps through the door, he’s bombarded.
He trips over a stack of clothes labeled SETH and narrowly avoids another pile labeled JOHN, looking around at several stacks of clothes assigned to various people in Jackson.
At least thirty, if not forty.
You flinch as he grabs for the door handle, swinging it open to keep balance as he turns to you, the guilt washing over your face almost instantly, cheeks heated with embarrassment.
“I know what you’re gonna say,” you start, eyes flitting around without any real target, pointedly avoiding him, “...it’s bad, isn’t it?”
“Oh, darlin’,” he sighs, tenderly cupping the side of your head, his fingers scratching gently behind your ear—it shouldn’t make you feel small, but it does.
Joel rarely touched you and it was always friendly.
“You guys’ve done so much for me,” you explain, “I was near dead when you and Tommy found me, I’m just tryin’ to do my share, seeing as you both saved my life. I kinda owe it to you, the town, y’know?”
“Not if it takes you runnin’ yourself ragged to do it,” Joel argues, his hand pulling away as it curls into a fist—you can’t see it, but Joel does it out of reflex.
As physical as he could be—you’ve seen him loud, defensive, in the face of some young, spry individual that was a little too cocky than he should’ve been, begging to be knocked down a peg. You’ve seen him attack to protect his own, but when it came to something simpler, softer, it just felt…wrong.
“I promise I’ll relax,” you tell him, a half-truth that Joel can see straight through.
“Ain’t good enough for me,” Joel admits, moving his fingers in a circular motion for you to turn, “you’re gonna rest up at mine, ‘least ‘til I’m satisfied.”
Your shoulders sag, but you turn, Joel’s footsteps lingering behind as he shut your door.
“Is that alright?” Joel asks suddenly, approaching at your side.
“Do I have a choice?” you ask curiously, though your voice is laced with a tinge of frustration and pain.
“Yeah,” Joel tells you, his eyes earnest, “but I’d be checkin’ on you constantly if you stayed home, I might even send Ellie to keep you company, I’m sure she’d love to—”
“You like getting your way,” you shake your head, a quiet laugh tumbling from your lips.
“Guess you could say that,” Joel replies with a hint of smirk, turning over your shoulder to confirm your suspicion, “you’re one of my best workers, y’know?”
“I’m also the only person that wants to listen to you ramble about the different types of wood we’re using for different projects,” you retort, “and the only person who’ll stay up all night working with you, even though you get real grumpy right after eight o’clock,”
Joel opens his mouth to speak but you interrupt him.
“I’d blame it on the old age but I think you’re just like that,” Joel rolls his eyes as he silently guides you onto the sidewalk that led to his house—it was only a block away from yours, “bet you’d hate for people to know you’re also just a big ol’ softie when you get drunk,”
The morning sun filtered through the trees lining the street, making you squint as you looked up at him, gaging his reaction to your words.
Joel side-steps, blocking the glare of the sun with his broad shoulders as he steers you up his driveway, grumbling under his breath as you head for the steps of his front door.
“Ain’t soft,” you chew at your lip to hide your smile, “you get touchy when you’re drunk, if we’re goin’ there,”
You shrug, nonchalant, “You’ve never had any problem with it,”
He didn’t—Joel found out quickly that you were a hugger instead of a casual handshake type of person, always needing to reach out to touch whoever you were talking to, almost like it was a grounding technique—but when you were drunk, boundaries were a foreign concept.
“And your hair is so soft,” you comment with a knowing smile, glancing at him as you pushed past and into his house as he opened the door for you, “very touchable,”
You take a moment to soak in the space, not having seen it in a few months as you’ve hermitted yourself away and you hear Joel close the door behind you, footsteps growing closer as a bubble of laughter slips out, pointing at the furniture in his living room.
“You listened?”
Joel’s brow furrows in confusion before he understands what you’re referring to.
“Oh, well,” Joel waves casually toward the space, “it does…flow better, doesn't it?”
“You,” you reach forward and poke at the center of his chest, “listened,”
Joel chuckles, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he attempts to maintain his composure. "Sit your ass down," he warns, an empty threat that makes you smile as he gently swats your hand away, "relax, ‘for I make you,"
There’s a warmth to his tone that you’ve heard many times before, but it makes your chest flutter, nodding in response as you take a seat on the worn-in couch, sinking into the cushion as you slip off your shoes and tuck your feet at your side.
You can’t help but smile wider at the effort he put into making the place feel more welcoming, more like home. Not just a place to survive, but to live.
The living room, adorned with a few framed pictures of Ellie and some mementos from his past life, suddenly feels a bit more intimate. You spot the framed picture on the coffee table that showcased a younger Joel and his daughter, Sarah.
That Joel was long gone, but he did appear in flashes. Quick, fleeting.
“Tea alright?” Joel's voice carries from the kitchen, hearing the creak of cabinets doors.
“No coffee?” you ask curiously—Joel knew you hated it, but you couldn’t help yourself.
“Got plenty,” Joel answers, “but given what I had to trade to get it, I’m not sharin’,”
You chuckle quietly and call out, “Tea is fine,”
The sound of water boiling soon followed, and you could hear the soft clatter of ceramic mugs as Joel moved about, clearing his throat on occasion as you watched his shadow move around the kitchen.
You settled deeper into the couch, your fingers tracing along its worn fabric and pulling the blanket draped over the back of the couch into your lap.
When he returned, he balanced two steaming mugs in his hands, the fragrant scent of mint invading your senses, alongside the strong smell of freshly brewed coffee.
“Here ya go,” he said, nodding toward your mug, dropping down onto the couch beside you.
“Thanks,” you replied softly, taking a sip and letting the warmth seep into your bones, though your fingers still ached, removing one hand from the mug to curl your fingers in, rubbing your thumb against the side of your forefinger where the bandaged was haphazardly wrapped.
“You should let ‘em breathe,” Joel suggests, “I’ll clean ‘em ‘f you want,”
“I know you’re gonna do it anyways,” you respond with tired grin, “go ahead, play doctor,”
“Shut up,” he responds with subtle amusement before grunting as he stands and disappearing again, but for a shorter amount of time, coming back with a small, plastic box that was an obnoxious red.
You’ve never seen him so gentle, so careful. He takes a long sip from his mug before he sets it aside as extends his hand, palm up, waiting for you to offer your hand in return.
You let out a soft sigh as you place your hand into his. He inspects your fingers with a focused intensity, brows furrowing deeper as he examines the damage, unwrapping the thin white cloth to peek at the myriad of cuts, his eyes squinting as he turned your hand over to check the other side.
“You can’t keep pushin’ yourself like this,” he says, almost to himself, but loud enough for you to hear.
“It’s just… I want to help,” you reply, voice quiet but firm, “Everyone’s been through so much. The town needs it. I don’t see anything wrong with it, taking care of others,”
“Sometimes help means takin’ care of yourself too,” Joel counters gently, his eyes darting between each wound, dabbing it lightly with alcohol.
His touch is careful yet firm, a contrast that shouldn’t entice you, but it does.
“Okay, dad,” you tease lightly, trying to ignore the heat creeping up your neck,
Joel gives you a look, very fatherly, but it quickly fades.
It was more of a watch yourself, if anything.
A subtle warning.
“I’m gonna clean this up, give you some meds for your back and hope it’ll get you some rest—I’ll let you sleep up in my room,” Joel finishes up with your hand, balancing the first-aid kit on his knee before he closes it up, “figure a bed’ll be easier on your back than this couch,”
“I can manage,” you interject and he shoots you a look.
Right—telling, not asking.
“I can probably scrounge some shit up for dinner tonight,” Joel seems to be doing the mental gymnastics in his head, knowing his fridge was mostly bare,
“Don’t act like you aren’t going to go back to work once I fall asleep,” you counter, tilting your head to catch his gaze, his eyes suddenly tracking toward you, only slightly guilty.
Joel's brow furrowed as he met your eyes, a familiar flicker of frustration igniting within him. You both knew it was a familiar exchange—you'd push against the weakness for you and he'd push back just as hard to mask it.
You were one of Joel’s few soft spots, as much as he tried to deny it.
The silence that hangs between you is thick—it often was, but it never had moments like this to settle. Both of you were too busy, too distracted, unwilling to let anything flourish.
“I’m just gonna go check on Tommy real quick,” Joel explains, “I know if I’m not here ‘round the clock you’ll end up sneakin’ out,”
He wasn’t wrong.
He points at your tea, encouraging you to drink before he disappears again, stowing away the first-aid as he comes back with his hand curled up, holding it over yours until you open your palm, dropping two small pills into your hand.
“Just enough to get you a little relief,” Joel tells you, watching as you rolled the pills around in your palm with your thumb, “and some sleep,”
You swallow them down without any arguing, knowing that there wasn’t any point for it.
“C’mon,” Joel nods, waiting for you to stand and follow.
The walk to his room feels like an eternity, the floorboards creaking under the weight of your paired steps before you finally reach his bedroom door, half-cracked open as he hits it with his foot and turns on the light.
Joel’s bed is unmade, a pile of blankets haphazardly thrown across the sheets, but it only adds to the charm of his space. And it smells like him, something woodsy but warm.
“Just…lay down for a bit,” he instructs, his voice dropping an octave while his hands settle on his hips as you move around him, “I’ll be back before you wake up,”
With a quiet nod, you walk over and climb into his bed, sinking into the soft mattress.
This shouldn’t feel personal, but it does.
Joel watches with a pinched, unreadable expression as you tuck yourself under his sheets. His, the ones he sleeps under every night, his pillow tousled like he was fighting for a comfortable position to sleep in.
You smile, adjusting it under your head.
Your breath catches when you turn and realize he’s still watching, though his head is bowed and he’s trying desperately to make it seem like he isn’t watching, but he can’t help it—his gaze is intense.
“Joel,” you say softly, startling him in a way that surprises you, his head tipping up almost immediately to look at you, attentive, “I’m really sorry.”
“Stop apologizin’,” Joel reprimands with a gentle tone.
The wave of emotion is unexpected, but it burns your throat. You look down, around, anywhere but him as you blink away tears and force yourself to breathe, quickly wiping away a tear with the back of your hand.
Joel watched you for a moment longer, his brow furrowing again as if he were to piece together a puzzle in his mind.
But this time, there was a softness in his gaze—an unguarded look that made your heart race. Without speaking, he approaches, fabric shifting against itself and suddenly he’s in front of you, the bed dipping with his weight as he sits near the edge to face you.
“Hey,” he says, his voice quiet as his hand searches over the blanket for your knee, gently grazing as his hand settles and squeezes, “talk to me,”
You look up hesitantly, his presence warm and grounding, and it’s difficult to wrap your mind around the feeling building between you. Joel was used to seeing you happy, cheerful—even irritated on occasion, but never like this.
“I don’t want to burden you,” you confess, your heart pounding against your ribcage as you meet his eyes. “I am—I know I am, all ‘cause I’m not taking care of myself,”
Joel shakes his head slowly, the look in his eyes unwavering. “You ain’t a burden,” he insists firmly, reaching out to wrap his fingers around your forearm to pull you into an unexpected hug, immediately relaxing into the warmth as you let it wrap you up, strong arms barricading themselves around your body. “I want to help you.”
His hands rub against your back in a way that could lull you into sleep, matching his breathing as the silence settles, suddenly struck with the desire to pull back and look at him, curious if he was feeling the same vulnerability that you were, walls down.
Leaning back to look at him, Joel’s eyes search yours, a depth of emotion mostly unreadable, but for the first time you see a flicker of something more than just concern—a flash of adoration that he rarely displayed.
“I’ll be back by dinner,” Joel tells you, blinking and the moment was suddenly gone, “get some sleep, alright?”
You nod sheepishly and follow his order, his hand drifting up the comforter as he tucked the blanket over your shoulder before he drifts away, the room dimming as sleep begins to pull you under.
Again, Joel’s got a gift.
He knows.
When he steps inside the house, something feels…off.
He strips off his shoes and shirt, leaving him in jeans and a worn tank top, burdened by the heat of summer as his clothes stuff to his skin, ready to drown himself in the cool water of his shower—but not before checking on you.
When he reaches the top of the stairs, he knows.
You weren’t in bed, you weren’t even in his room.
But, your own clumsiness gives your new location away.
“Shitshit,” you curse as Joel approaches, shoving the door open as the papers float to the ground, quickly bending to pick them up as Joel clears his throat,
“Can I help you?” Joel asks only slightly accusatively, his face flushed red from the heat and the sight of his arms making it impossible to look at him for longer than a few seconds.
“I napped, I swear,” you quickly assure him, “but, I got restless—and I got…curious of what you’ve been working on,”
It had been a while since Joel had time to set down and work on anything for himself, guilty in the same way that you were, unwilling to let himself enjoy.
His face relaxes as he releases the door to let it swing open slowly, tossing the balled up shirt on the table at his hip as he approaches, pointing at the half-finished horse caught mid-read with a cowboy on it’s back, “Haven’t touched this place in a couple of months,”
You turn as he approaches, feeling the heat of his body at your back as you run your finger along the ridges of the carved wood, admiring his handiwork, “Still, this is amazing,” like most of the figurines that littered the room were, Joel’s talents were kept close to his chest, only caught in moments like this, and it never failed to amaze you.
Joel shifts slightly, his hand pressing into the table near your hip, "Just somethin’ to keep my hands busy when I can’t sleep," he admits, his voice gentle as he watches your expression shift from curiosity to admiration, turning your head to look at him with a soft smile.
“I think we’re a lot more alike than you wanna admit,” you challenge him.
Joel chuckles lightly, “I don’t know what you’re on about,”
“Denial doesn’t suit you, Joel,” you tease, turning your a smidge further and finding that the pain still lingered. Joel notices.
His head tilts almost accusatory before his hands come to rest over your shoulders, “You mind?” he asks, desperate to change topics.
You shake your head lazily, feeling his thumbs dig into the muscles near your neck, mouth immediately falling open as the tension begins to release under his precise touch.
“Oh, god,” you breathe out, leaning into his hands as they work deeper into your muscles, a blissful ache spreading from where he pressed. Without speaking, his hands had drifted lower, near your ribs as his hands worked through the balled up tension until you had no choice but to lean forward, hands catching the table in front of you before your hips did.
A soft laugh escapes you despite the discomfort; Joel had a way of making even teasing feel tender. Suddenly feeling a tinge of fear build in your chest, curious that if you turned to look at him it would ruin whatever….this was. You raise your head with half-lidded eyes, enough that you think you can catch his reflection in the mirror without him knowing.
But, he’s looking right at you.
Under the inhibitions of alcohol, you’d tease him.
Instead, you turn, uncertain of how he would react.
Your hands grasp the table behind your back as his drop to his side, balled up into fists as you take in the sight of him this close, the front of his shirt damp at the center of his chest with sweat, his belt hanging unbuckled at his hips and his eyes hungry.
Sure, relaxing was what you needed, but Joel had a strange desire to remind you just how precious your body was—both caring for it, but how much he found himself admiring it. Every curve or scar, he watches as your lips part in a breath, mimicking the movement subconsciously.
“Joel…” you begin, but the words catch in your throat.
“Just let me,” he whispers, a deep richness to his tone and he reaches out again, this time his fingers brushing against your cheek. His touch is gentle yet firm—a promise of safety and assurity layered with something more.
You lean into his hand instinctively, eyes drifting closed at his touch.
“Can I…” the words linger, but he doesn’t even have to ask.
You nod slowly, met with his lips a century of a moment later.
The kiss is soft at first, cautious and curious, his other hand twisting around your forearm to pull you in, your own fingers dragging up his biceps until they reach his neck, a touch so featherlight Joel fears he’s imagining it, but then you’re deepening the kiss.
Your tongue drags along his bottom lip, hearing him groan as he opens his mouth and lets you in, pressing himself against you as the table shakes with the unexpected weight and you snort softly, pulling away from his lips as he begins to chase them.
You can feel his heartbeat thrumming through the thin fabric of his shirt, a rhythm that matches your own racing pulse. Your hand fists into his tank and the look on his face is picturesque, a mix between wrecked and wanton.
“You smell like outside,” you tell him lightly
Joel chuckles softly, a low rumble that vibrates through the air between you two, “Coulda just said I stink,” Joel retorts.
“Maybe a little,” you quip back playfully, your fingers still tangled in the fabric of his shirt, feeling the solid muscles shift beneath your touch as he leans closer.
“To be fair, I was gonna shower,” Joel defends, “then I caught you snoopin’,”
“Sorry,” you offer sweetly, though Joel isn’t sure you mean it.
With his hand still cradling your face and his fingers wrapped around your arm, he doesn’t move, watching as your gaze centered on his chest where your thumb was rubbing a circle over the fabric, thinking.
Waiting.
“Are you gonna ask me to join you?” you ask tantalizingly, eyes flicking up to meet his gaze.
“Didn’t think it was appropriate,” Joel defends, “bein’ your boss and all,”
“Bullshit,” you retort, his face splitting into an unexpected smile at your bluntness.
You stare at him expectantly, fighting the smugness that threatened to spread across your features before Joel leans forward again, quickly kissing it away.
“You’re so damn devious,” he mumbles against your lips.
Contrary to what you were expecting, Joel leaves you showering alone for longer than you like, hearing him insist that you needed a change of clothes before the front door was slamming shut and you were already running your hand through the heat of the water.
You were just finishing up washing your hair when the bathroom door clicks shut, some faint shuffling on the other side of the curtain as your impatience grows, pulling the fabric far enough back that you can twist your fingers around his arm and pull him under the running water, clothes and all.
Joel stumbles slightly as you tug him into the warmth, water splashing over both of you, and an incredulous laugh escapes his lips as he looks down at his soaked clothes.
It’s infectious, filling the small space with a sense of mischief as he pulls away just enough to look at you, the droplets cascading down his jaw and neck, “Really?” he asks, “You couldn’t wait?”
You shrug, aware of his drifting gaze as they follow down to your breasts, yearning deeply for his mouth as his lips part before his hands are wrapping around his top and pulling it over his head, tossing it to the floor with soft splat, alongside the rest of his soaked clothing.
“You’re gonna pay for that,” he warns, a dangerous glint in his eyes as the water drips down his broad shoulders, revealing the strength beneath his tanned skin.
You smirk, feeling bold as you inch closer to him, “Oh? How, exactly?”
Without warning, Joel lunges forward.
His body is solid, pressing into yours as you gasp at the suddenness of it all.
“Like this,” he murmurs against your lips. This is deeper, more fervent, sealed with desperation and longing. You weren’t sure how long the two of you had been tiptoeing around your feelings for one another, but they seemed impossible to ignore now.
His mouth moves over yours like this was normal, like he knew everything that made you tick. You respond instinctively, lips parting further as your tongues press together, exploring the taste of him mixed with warm, cascading water that poured over you both as you tugged him closer, your hands settled near the sides of his chest, squeezing against his ribs as he guides you against the adjacent shower wall.
His hand finds your thigh, fingers digging into your flesh with a possessive urgency that has you gasping, allowing himself to take a moment to really admire you, watching as the water dripped from his damp hair to his nose, his free hand tracing every inch of your body with lust-filled eyes, a thumb dragging along the underside of your breast until he finds the courage to drag it up and around your nipple, a small gasp slipping from your lips.
“Sensitive?” Joel asks curiously, a subtle smirk betraying his genuine question.
You let out a high pitched noise of acknowledgement as his hand rises to pinch at the bud before you slap at his chest, “What are we doing?” you ask breathlessly, a shake of uncertainty in your tone as Joel’s movements pause, though the hand on your thigh gives a reassuring squeeze.
“You know, I’ve got plenty of methods to help ya relax,” he explains, “could show you one?”
“Joel,” you warn, knowing there wouldn’t ever be a moment after this that you didn’t look at him and see him exactly as he was now, eyes darker than their normal brown and his face flushed with an increasing desire.
Joel leans forward, though tentative, and kisses you slow, waiting for you to react with intrigue, feeling like your brain was having trouble keeping up with his actions, “Let me take care of you,” he urges, “s’the least I can do,”
He pulls back, searching your face with a tinge of nervousness that quickly fades as you nod, the back of his hand pressing against the inside of your thigh to part your legs, hiking up one around his hip before he guides your hands up and around his neck, your fingers playing into the damp ends of his hair as the hand that wasn’t descending between your bodies came around the back of your head, cupping it gently.
With the first touch of his fingers as they split through your folds, you understand his intention with caressing you, your head thudding back against the tile wall gently.
You sigh shakily in satisfaction as you nod again, though there was no pending question.
Joel chuckles, watching as your eyes fall shut in bliss as he dips his head and drags his lips across your shoulder, collarbone, down your chest until he can swirl his tongue around your nipple, sucking on the sensitive skin as his middle finger drags over your clit and circles, a surprised gasp from you at how devastating his touch was.
The end goal was relaxation and you were anything but—though, you couldn’t complain.
Your workload rarely allowed for anything like this, even a moment for you to indulge on your own, mind frazzled with worry.
Joel hadn’t take his eyes off of you, much like how he behaved at work, but this was more intense, more purposeful, his brow creasing at every noise you made, his fingers moving from your clit to slip inside of you, filling you with a fullness that only Joel could offer, his thick fingers stretching your cunt open.
The sensation of him sliding deeper inside you made your breath hitch, the heat pooling low in your belly as your fingers squeezed at the back of his neck. You could feel every pulse of his fingers as they curled inside of you, drawing whimpers from your lips as he worked you open.
“How am I doin’?” He asks quietly, though his tone is cocky, speaking against your skin with his breath hot and heavy, “You thinkin’ about work?”
“Not even a little,” you admit, your response stangled off by a gentle cry as his fingers quickly switch gears, slick from your arousal as his body blocked the stream of water and worked over your clit, your hips rocking up into his hands.
“Good,” Joel notes, his mouth trailing up to your neck and to your cheek, pressed together as you pull him in close, your quiet but quickened breath against his chest that gave him the tell-tale sign that you were close.
“Joel,” he knows—of course he does.
“I know,” he soothes, his touch insistent as he worked over your clit in fast, tight circles until your legs shook, teeth biting gently into his shoulder where you face had found solace against, he grunts at the sensation, his voice soothing, “Oh, I know, darlin’,”
He guides you through every second of your orgasm, pulling back to examine the pinch in your features with a tinge of smug satisfaction as you whisper his name once more.
Joel’s become so familiar with your tone that even a simple slip of his name told him everything he needed to know.
Thank you, is what he hears.
And when you tuck into his bed, rolling your eyes affectionately as he leaves a respectable gap of space between you both, your muscles ache.
But, with good reason.
You’ve never felt more relaxed.

BABY l. jeno
camboy!lee jeno x fem!reader
in which jeno finds it easier to destress himself on stream, that is until you catch him
cw: MDNI! smut, unprotected sex, cumming inside, fingering, squirting, another haechan feature cause i want him lowkey, generally inappropriate things lol idk how else to describe it! this wasn't proof read so beware of spelling mistakes (wc: 3k)
Tumblr media
If you were to be asked, you’d confidently describe your relationship with Lee Jeno as trustworthy – loyal, even. Yet the truth was that Jeno had a secret he had been keeping for years now, one so outlandish it sounds straight out of a girl’s wet dream. It wasn’t that he thought you’d judge him, he just worried you’d ask him the origins of his secret, and he’d have to explain that it became his channel to take out some stress because of you.
Jeno’s secret was simple and straightforward – for the past year or two, he’d hide out at his apartment every weekend alone, turning on his web-camera and becoming a new identity. He hated calling himself a camboy, seeing it as an impeachment on his own self. Camboy felt too official, he was just a horny young adult looking for a way to let it out. That being said, what complicated the situation was that you were the cause of his need to do so. All of the times you’d compliment him after he’d send a workout selfie, so oblivious to the gym roleplay he’d act out later on, wishing his hand was you in tight shorts and a sports bra. Even something so innocent as saying his hair was cute had him thrusting into his palm and pulling on his own hair in the late hours, acting like it was you in front of him, instead of the hundreds of nameless accounts that would flood his chat.
Jeno swore he’d get away with his little double-life, knowing you’d be caught in a grave before HotLonelyStuds. That’s why his own world came crashing down on himself during a hangout, when Lee Haechan approached him privately, an evil grin on his obnoxious face. “I have a confession.” The way he stated it seemed genuine, yet the way his eyes glinted towards the older male let him know his intentions were anything but.
“Go ahead.” “Head? I’m sure that’s what you want, Dr. Lee.” Jeno’s heart dropped at the implication behind the sentence, way too specific to pass as a normal sexual innuendo. It was only when Haechan opened his phone up to his Twitter likes, already flooded with several homemade pornos, pointing out the most recent. Jeno wasn’t even aware that people were reuploading his clips – he swore it was a privacy breach, not allowed on the website he used. He recognized the specific stream, a night where he felt particularly needy. You had told him about a physical you received at your latest doctors’ appointment, and his fantasies ran wild. Admittedly, it wasn’t normal to feel so horny because of something so simple, yet as soon as he imagined himself on top of you, stripping you slowly on a patient’s bed, there was no going back. Albeit weird, he swore there was nothing special about the clip until Haechan clicked on it, of course he did.
“Fuck… Need you so bad, baby. Let Dr. Lee take care of you.” Jeno’s voice was hoarse, ringing from above as his camera panned down to his cock that was already out of his white dress pants and leaking in his hand. He flicked his wrist gently, agonizingly slow, taking his time and imagining it was your small, delicate hand instead. In his daze, his thumb unconsciously ran over his tip, forcing a gasp out of his throat, alongside an uncontrolled small whisper of your name. The whisper was so light, it could easily be played off as an incoherent moan to anyone else, yet Haechan (who swore up and down that Jeno was in love with you) begged to differ.
“Why did you even watch all of it to find that out, perv.” Jeno’s first response was defense, trying to play it off and even pass the shame onto Haechan. What he should’ve taken into account was that if there was one word to describe the male, it’d be shameless. “Eh, ‘was bored. What matters here is you, Dr. Lee, and your infatuation with a little someone-”
“Who?” You spoke up behind the two, frowning at the way Haechan jumped up and immediately turned his phone off. “Hey, I wanna see.” You whined, saddened at the fact that you were out of the loop. “It was porn.” Haechan was quick to yell out, patting Jeno on the back and rushing back into the living room.
“Were you actually watching that stuff, Jen? I don’t care but like… You told me you don’t.” The disdain in your voice assured Jeno about one thing – you could never know the truth. Not only would it freak you out, he felt as though you’d be offended that he’s been lying to you about how truly sexual he is. Being the only two of your friend group that didn’t continuously sleep around, you felt even more connected with him when he’d back you up, telling you it’s normal to be reserved at your age; making you think he relates, when the truth was that as soon as you’d go home and his lights would turn off, his camera would turn on.
“No, of course not baby. He was just being weird.” The way the familiar nickname rolled out of his mouth smoothly assured you, and you simply nodded with a small grin. “What were you up to before Hyuck flashed you?” You giggled at your own word choice, moving away from Jeno to open the fridge. “Not much, ‘was honestly waiting for you to realize I was gone and look for me.” For some reason, an unusual feeling of unease washed over him at your reaction to his words. You took it lightly, like you take everything. No matter how shamelessly he’d flirt with you, you’d always just smile and look away until the conversation would stray elsewhere. He was sick of acting like it didn’t affect him to see you dismiss him so easily, yet he supposed it was partly his fault, as he never clarified that he meant what he said – you probably just assumed he didn’t.
“Wanna escape to my place? I’m honestly a bit bored.” Jeno wasn’t bored, he just wanted you all to himself, truthfully. “Sorry, Jen. I have a paper due tomorrow and I’m only halfway done. I was about to head out. Maybe another time?” He simply nodded, masking his disappointment with a shaky breath. Embarrassed from your reoccuring denial, he decided he’d go home anyway.  He had a new idea for a stream anyway, one that projected your relationship as loudly as the rest. It never hurts to do an extra video or two, knowing the pocket change he’d make could serve to take you out for a pastry.
Tonight, the roles were reversed on HotLonelyStuds, as Jeno’s hand stroked himself quickly, moaning at the sensation. “Take it, fuck. Take it all. Rejecting me when you know you want me? Could’ve been us right now, baby.” His words were muffled, his teeth gritting in an unnaturally stressed way as his other hand reached his throat, pressing harshly. This stream was particularly rough, and although he’d refuse, Jeno knew the true reasoning behind his labored actions. He knew the truth was that he was sick of you ignoring him, when he was always there. Every time you’d complain about your lack of experience, every time you’d cry to him about feeling immature, he wanted to scream in your face that he’s right here! He always has been right there, pliant and willing to help you overcome your inexperience.
The frustration built more and more, and before Jeno knew it he had come twice, painting his already covered abs white. On his third, he was too immersed to notice the familiar jingle of your spare key – the one he had given you as soon as he moved into his new apartment, letting you know you were welcome any time.
Clearly, that might’ve not been the case as a loud gasp escaped you. Not bothering to knock on Jeno’s bedroom door, not even having heard his loud groans, you were welcomed with the sight of his heavy dick in his hands, upper body completely bare. Jeno’s eyes were held shut with pleasure until he recognized a stream of light on him that hadn’t been there before, the buzz of his hallway lamp amplifying the already-deafening silence that the two of you shared as you finally made eye contact. In shock, Jeno couldn’t bring himself to cover up. It wasn’t until you shrieked and ran out of the room that he pulled his pants back up, shutting the stream off with no explanation and running after you.
“Baby… I swear it’s not what you think-” “I know what I saw, Jen…” Your frown was making him panic, and he felt tears brimming in his eyes at your words. He was so fucked. “I just… Why didn’t you tell me? You know I don’t care-” “That’s the problem!” Sick of ignoring the obvious, he moved next to you, holding both your wrists in desperation. “You never care. Fuck, you don’t even care right now that you saw my dick out. Even less, that it was because of you.” His words sparked confusion in you, understanding what he was saying but refusing to believe what he insinuated. Surely, Lee Jeno hadn’t been fucking himself in front of a camera because of you. How would that even work?
“I don’t even care anymore, either, Y/n. Don’t care that you caught me, because maybe at least for those three seconds that you saw me, you might’ve had a small part of you in your head saying it’s hot.” “I don’t get it, Jen.” “Yes, you do.”
It wasn’t until you felt Jeno’s breath on your face that you realized how close he had truly gotten, and it was only when he grabbed your wrists that you realized, maybe it doesn’t feel so bad to be held by him like that.
Against your better judgement, your next action was brash as you cupped his face, pulling him in towards yours. The kiss was messy, Jeno’s teeth biting your lips until they began to feel sore. His arm snaked behind your back, lessening the space between you until there was nothing. “Gonna show you what I’ve been doing, baby. All for you.” “W-wait, Jen.” Before he could even push you onto the couch behind you, you pulled away. With every step you took, Jeno’s heart broke more, and his anger grew. Who were you to kiss him, and then reject him not even a minute later?
In his fury, Jeno failed to realize what you were truly doing until your hand found his and you led him back to his room. His mind became foggy once he saw you approach his computer, searching for something. “Where is it, Jen?” “Where’s what, baby?” “The camera.” At your words, his eyes widened. There was no way you were really doing what he thought you were doing. There was no way you were going to let him fuck you in front of his viewers.
Feeling as though the opportunity would pass at any second, Jeno jumped up quickly, gently pushing you aside to open the website and program the webcam to turn on. Soon after, the red flickering light on his computer confirmed the fact that it was on, and his hands were back on you, sliding down towards the back of your thighs and pulling you onto him.
The kiss grew heavy once more, Jeno so focused that he didn’t even give context to his viewers who had never seen him with another girl before. Had he read the chat though, he’d be pleasantly surprised to see the positive feedback. Maybe he would’ve even seen Haechan’s texts that were flooding his phone. WTF? I TOLD YOU, YOU WHORE, that quickly progressed into encouragement, fuckk dude, lift her shirt up a bit, always wanted to see her pretty tits.
Unknowingly, Jeno fed into Haechan’s perversions as he also grew tired of the fabric holding you back from him. His big hands held onto your waist before lifting you up and turning you around, so you’d be sitting on his lap facing towards the camera instead of him. The light whimpers you’d let out at his every move gained traction from the chat, who were now spamming comments asking Jeno to fuck the shit out of you. Well, who was he to deny his fans?
You felt Jeno’s lips attach to your neck, as well as his long fingers slipping under your shirt, cupping your bare tits. He hated the fact that you never wore a bra near him, leaving little to his imagination when he wasn’t allowed to touch you. A shit-eating grin replaced his focused expression as he heard your breath hitch when he finally pinched your nipple, stopping for a second to effortlessly rip your shirt off over your head. Now exposed and riddled with goosebumps, Jeno sucked harder, leaving blemishes and marks all over your shoulder. His hands tweaked each nipple, pulling harder to draw more reactions from you.
This time, instead of a gasp, you simply grinded down on him out of instinct, the feeling finally pulling a moan from Jeno’s own throat. His chest still bare from when you had walked in on him earlier, pressed against your back as he held you close, pulling your little shorts off alongside your panties in one swift move.
You were embarrassingly wet, hating yet loving the way Jeno stared at you through the screen of his own computer. He watched you with hunger in his eyes, as if he was going to devour you, and the worst part is that you began to like the idea.
Your eyes shut close as you felt his fingers run down your slit, wetting them before he bullied two into you at once. You winced from the pain, not having time to recover before Jeno was thrusting in and out of you. His frustrations escaping him in the form of passion as his other hand planted gentle circles to your clit. Your cunt began to clench around him, a pit in your stomach forming as you let out moan after moan. It was only when he added another finger that you squirmed, the pit fully dropping. The shock on Jeno’s face was evident as a clear liquid covered both you and him once you came. Never in his life would he have expected you to squirt. He didn’t let out though, continuing to thrust his fingers in you until you fully rode out your high, clawing at his hands from the overstimulation.
Although he stopped, the breath you were catching got stuck in your throat once you felt something much larger than his fingers prodding at your cunt. He was big – honestly not a shock to you, who always heard him brag to the rest of your friends before he swore celibacy in solidation with you. Nothing could prepare you for the feeling of his tip pulsing in you, or his strong arms wrapping around you to hold your inner thighs, spreading you out to the camera, full pussy on display.
Hearing your gasps, Jeno stopped to let you adjust, yet it didn’t last long as you clenched around him. Albeit slower than he wanted to, he entered inch by inch until his cock was fully enveloped by your heat. You felt so good, how he knew you would.
“‘Gonna move now, baby. Hold on to me.” You nodded although your eyes were painfully squeezing close. Jeno couldn’t take the slow pace as he thrusted in and out gently, and you granted his wish as you looked up towards his direction. “Y-you can move, Jen.” His moan was loud as he finally bottomed out, not nearly in as much control over his actions as he was before.
As soon as your pained whimpers shifted to soft gasps, he finally sped up, holding onto your thighs with a bruising grip. His moans were muffled as he whined into your neck. You felt every ridge and vein on his cock, stuffed deep inside of your cunt. Looking at the computer’s display, you felt yourself clench even more at the sight. With a clear view of Jeno’s face, the way he bit his lip and shut his eyes, you felt closer than ever. Jeno was close behind, not being able to take the tight squeeze you had around him anymore.
His pace fastened, thrusting up into you, pistoling in and out with desperation. “So good, fuck baby. You’re squeezing me so tight, ‘wanted this as bad as me?” Your fucked out face was evident as you simply nodded your head, eyes rolling up into your head. With one more hard thrust, you came once more, followed quickly by him. The feeling of his spent shooting inside of you fogged your mind up, and you had to clamp a hand to your mouth to silence yourself.
Regaining his breath, he lifted you until his dick was fully out of you, laying you comfortably aside before standing up and approaching his laptop. Waving with a successful grin on his face, he shut the computer off. Putting on the nearest boxers on his bed, his next destination was the bathroom, where he gathered a warm wet towel to clean you up.
You weren’t asleep per se, when he came back, yet your refusal to open your eyes accompanied by your lack of speech told Jeno that you were too exhausted to function, so he let you lay down. In truth, he always dreamed of spoiling you, taking care of you after fucking you to sleep. The only indicator that you were still awake was the small squeeze you gave his hand when he laid behind you, swelling his heart with several emotions. The moment was perfect, one that would forever be remembered in his head as heaven, until he picked his phone up to check the time.
Can’t believe she squirted… screen recorded all that by the way dude, never thought I’d be so turned on watching you both lol
Jeno didn’t think twice before blocking Haechan’s contact, putting his phone down and cuddling back into you.

“Oh, sweet girl.”
Three words, maybe two and one syllable, that in any other instance would have had you melting into a puddle at the softness it reared. Words that have so easily turned you into a preening cat but are now aimed at you, albeit no judgement from his end, with no room for escape.
Spencer had come home after a long day of paperwork when he first heard it. He would have brushed it off if it didn’t happen again moments later, and louder. Concerned, he walks toward the bedroom, a flush rushing to his face as he comes to recognize what it is. A small crack of the door allowed him the glorious sight of you in the center of the bed, hand between your legs, eyes shut in ecstasy. You’re mesmerizing to him and he really can’t bring himself to look away, and he doesn’t notice himself subconsciously leaning on the door causing a faint creak that alarmed you to his presence. In that moment, however, he’s less worried about scaring you, and more about the overwashing look of shame on your face.
The soft creak of the door pulled you out of your daze, screaming when you saw the figure behind the door. Your eyes are bulging out of their sockets nearly, heartbeat still racing with adrenaline from when you haphazardly threw the blanket over yourself. You were conflicted, but getting caught doing something that is a common and completely normal instance in relationships really shouldn’t make you feel this guilty. Although you do know the guilt was created by a previous version of you where you had told Spencer that you wanted to take the pace of your relationship slowly, and had little to no desire to engage in such activities for the time being. Or so you said.
He cautiously steps closer, careful not to startle you further, “I’m not upset, or anything.”
You’re not upset either, you’re mortified. “I lied to you.”
“You did…but I don’t think you meant to, right?”
There had been a time where you were tangled all up in him, and poor Spencer, his hands were in the wrong place at the wrong time to no fault of his own and entirely yours, and your shutdown was unavoidable. The blood in your veins seized up like crystallizing water turning into ice, paralyzing both the physical and mental before you could realize.
Intimacy for you was a complicated concept. While it wasn’t novel or unwanted, physical intimacy was something you struggled to accept with open arms. Call it a consequence of your self perception, but it was hard to accept the soft touch of love when you felt like you didn’t deserve it. Spencer never minded, although his heart ached to make you see yourself the way he saw you, he was always more than willing to meet you where you were.
It almost pains you with how understanding Spencer was of the whole situation because you knew any other person would be deeply upset. Every other person was upset.
Spencer never was just any other person, you suppose.
“I don’t know how to explain this.” Another lie, you could easily explain the reason.
It’s not that you weren’t ready, it’s that you didn’t feel like you looked ready. The thought of subjecting Spencer to the one dark cornerstone of your being in the early days of being together seemed illogical and burdensome, and so it was more simple to play it off as wanting to take a slow pace.
But, as biology would see it you have needs and your boyfriend just happens to be so detrimentally attractive that the simplest act has been sending you into a hot fit as of late. The culprit this time was an innocent mirror picture of him at the store trying on new trousers. You had no chance.
You had found that your intimacy issues lie within extending it to others, and less with yourself. The solution of you finding release on your own quickly became a habit when you realized there was no fear on your own. There’s no one to let down if you’re alone.
Spencer perches at the foot of the bed, flat hand outstretched on the blanket towards you but keeping a comfortable distance, “You don’t have to explain anything, honey.”
“No I know, but—fuck—I should.” you bury your face, choosing to only speak to him from behind your hands for now, maybe forever.
He takes a moment to take inventory of your physical being—you don’t look in pain. Clearly you didn’t sound in pain. Your face is flushed, and though he’s sitting a little far from you, the heat radiating from your body hits him like a space heater.
“Sweetheart…I’m not upset.” he repeats, in hopes a reminder might provide reassurance.
It doesn’t. “You’re never upset at me, it’s concerning.” you mumble.
“You make it kind of hard to be upset at you, ever really.” Spencer braves and lays a hand on your leg.
You take a deep breath, the cold of his hand grounding you more and more. Spencer senses the calm it’s bringing you and rubs circles into your calf.
“Can you tell me what you’re feeling?” he asks gently.
What are you even feeling? You ponder for a moment—anxious, nervous, bad.
“Embarrassed.”
“Honey, there’s nothing embarrassing about masturbating. In fact, it’s more than healthy to do it to keep cortisol levels low,” he explains, “I just don’t know why you didn’t…want to tell me.”
The guilt swirls in your gut, hearing the twinge of hurt buried beneath the comfort he’s laid out for you. He just wants to help you, but you won’t let him in and that hurts him more.
“It’s more complicated than that.”
“How so?”
“It’s just…I…Look it’s…You’re just so hot—“ you slip out, clamping your hand over your mouth before leaking any more intrusive thoughts.
A faint smirk ghosts his face, “I’m…hot?”
“No—Well, yes. I just…ugh.”
“Okay, okay calm down,” he scoots closer and gently brings the hands covering your eyes to rest in your lap, “You don’t need to be all secretive, you know I’d never judge you.”
“I know,”
“I just thought you wanted to wait.”
“I do.”
“But, not with me? It’s okay if it's not with me.”
“Spence, I do. It’s not that.”
“Am I missing something?”
You gulp, “I just…it’s a personal problem. With me. Not you.”
His brows furrow, “Like what, baby? Do you need to see a doctor?”
“Yeah, if a doctor can fix my shoddy self esteem and make me like myself again.” you chuckle.
He doesn’t laugh.
The pause he takes seems to be ages long before he speaks again, “Angel, how long have you been feeling like that?”
You’ve been caught red-handed, water filling up the tank faster than you can tread, “It’s nothing, I was just joking.”
“Hey,” he says with a rare firmness, “How. Long?”
You deflate under his hard gaze, “A…while…long enough… for it to feel like a…like a default setting, I guess.” you trail off.
Spencer couldn’t hide the hurt on his face if he tried. Not hurt from your lack of admission, hurt that you had felt like this for so long, dealt with this for so long on your own, and he didn’t even know.
All he ever hoped and wanted was for you to be happy, and if he could be the source of that he would ask for nothing more in life. So to hear about you struggling with this, that you felt like you had to keep it to yourself, was heartbreaking.
Spencer remains in his head a little too long as he’s broken out of it by your small voice, “Are you sure you’re not mad?”
He sighs and moves to sit next to you, making sure he stays above the blanket for your comfort. His back is against the headboard of the bed, and he raises his arm a little, gesturing for you to fill the you shaped crevice. You hesitantly move into the space, hating how you feel every move you’re making is calculated, but all of that goes away the second your head meets his chest and his hand comes up to comb through your hair, the other smoothing your arm down, and all you’re left with is him.
“I promise I’m not mad,” he whispers softly, “Just wish you told me. I would have helped you.” He’s intentional in his wording—would, and not could. Could implies he has a choice, a want to do or not do something. I could have helped you, or I could have not helped you. Would is finite, he is doing it because it is programmed in him that caring for you is a need. I would have helped you because it is the only thing I know to be certifiably true, that you deserve to be cared for.
“It sounds stupid out loud but I was afraid you wouldn’t like me the same if you saw me like…that. It seemed logical for me to remove that option altogether.”
His heart aches painfully, and he wishes he could take everyone who’s made you feel that way to target practice. “You are the most beautiful girl in the world. I would spend every day of my life proving that to you.” he utters with unequivocal resolve.
You sigh out shakily, “You’re too kind to me.”
“I’m always kind to you. You deserve kindness. You deserve a lot of things actually…” he trails off.
“Like what?” you ask.
“Well, did you um—” he trails. You look at him quizzically, he continues, “Like before I came in did you…finish?”
Oh. “Oh. I…I don’t think I did, actually. It’s okay though, no big deal.”
He stares at you intently, “Do you want to?”
Your eyes widen, “Spence oh, no it’s okay really you don’t have to do that.
“You’re encouraged to say no if you feel even an ounce of doubt, but I’m offering because I love you and I want to show you that you can feel safe with me, even when you feel otherwise.”
The familiar sting returns to your eyes as the tears pool up. You’re not used to anyone putting this much effort and concern for your comfort, it’s a novel feeling but if Spencer is willing to handle you with as much care as he is, you’re ready to welcome that sentiment in with open arms.
“Yeah, yes.” you waver.
He grins and leans down, gingerly pressing his lips to yours. His hand ghosts from your calf to your knee, testing the water before moving more intent. An unwelcome yet familiar onset slowly rises, trying to break through to you, “Wait—“
He retracts his hand immediately, “You okay? We can stop if you need to.”
You shake your head. “No, no I’m fine. I just need a second.” you breath out, trying to self regulate.
He pulls back his hand but you stop him, “No keep it there, it helps. I just…” You don’t know how to phrase it. You think it’s because you’re not in control. When you’re alone it’s only you at the helm calling the shots. But when it really comes down to it, the lack of control is nothing compared to the lack of predictability that comes with the former. Explaining that out loud was daunting to even think about.
Yet Spencer understands what you need, because he always knows what you need. His hand returns to your knee, giving it a soft squeeze, “You tell me to stop whenever you need to.”
He continues kissing you while smoothing his hand up your leg, making wide and sweeping motions across the plush of your thigh so you can feel where he is and where his hand is going. The gesture is comforting and makes you feel grounded, but your head is in a dreamy haze at how good Spencer’s hands feel on you.
The haze leaves through your lips as Spencer feels you sigh against him, feeling you relax more and more as the seconds go by. His hand reaches your upper thigh, fingers ghosting on the inside. “Is this okay?”
You nod, feeling your nerves idling like a distant wave in the ocean. But Spencer’s presence is a lighthouse shining through the fog and guiding you to his shores while the calm washes over you.
His fingers lightly trace the fabric of your panties, ones that you had slid back up your hips upon his entrance into the room. The motion causes you to jump and he pulls back to gauge your reaction. When he sees no fear in your eyes, more so stunned by your wide eyed gaze, his fingers move with more precision, adding more pressure to your clothed core.
A gentle gasp leaves you as he strokes up and down your slit. You’ve given up on continuing to kiss him, the feeling of his hands being too overwhelming to have both sensations at the same time. You tuck your head into the crook of his neck, your body involuntarily curving towards him as he draws symbols on you with his index. Your breathing gets heavier and faster the longer he goes, and soon small moans begin to escape you.
He drags his finger to the top of your panties and toys with the band, faintly asking, “You still with me, sweet girl?” You preen into the crevice of his neck as he keeps talking, “Want me to keep going?”
He feels you nodding into him as you breathlessly whisper, “Please.”
His finger dips below the fabric and travels down to your entrance, gathering the slickness and spreading it all over you. “Fuck,” he curses softly, “Look how wet you are, baby.”
You whimper at his words and Spencer ascends to the heavens if there even is one, and if there is it’s the one where you sound like that for him. He circles back up to your clit, paying special attention to the bundle of nerves before sliding back your slit and repeating the whole sequence a few more times.
Your moans are coming out at a steady pace, and he’s been prodding around your entrance for some time now, teasing and edging you closer. “Gonna put a finger in now, okay? Doing so good for me, baby.” he murmurs.
The feeling of his finger entering you is satiating. But it’s not enough, and you need more. “Spence,” you manage to get out, “Can take another one, please.” His eyes shut tight as he revels in your desperation for him, and how cynical he must be to love having you at his mercy this much. He would confess the darkest of sins if you asked him in that tone, and he has no choice but to oblige. He stifles a groan at how easily the second finger slid in, his other hand moving up to play with your hair and cradle your head close to his chest as he works his ministrations.
The familar coil builds in your gut, but at an intensity you’ve never felt before. His fingers move in and out of you urgently, his thumb returning to your clit. He’s a man determined to get you there, and your moans and cries of his name only spur him on further. After a few minutes your moans and cries turn into whines and babbles, and he knows you’re close.
His head leans down to croon in your ear, “Shh, it’s okay. I got you, sweet girl. You can come, ‘m right here.”
It’s enough to push you over the edge and you come harder than you ever have on your own, the waves of your climax overtaking you completely. Spencer continues to pump his fingers through your orgasm, talking you the whole way down. Mutters of praises and kisses flow through your subconscious as the euphoria high takes its peak and you come back down to this realm.
His hand smoothes your hair back as you continue to pant against his chest, words unable to find you.
“You okay?”
You finally catch your breath, “That was—fuck—the most insane orgasm I have ever had.”
Spencer beams at this. For one, his obvious and impressive skills that have stunned you into oblivion. And two, because you look so relaxed. The stark difference of your anxiety filled face from when he first came into the room to the blissed out daze you have right now makes his heart swell five sizes up.
He hugs you closer and whispers, “I’m so proud of you, angel. Thank you for trusting me.”
Sleep is fighting you hard as you laugh airily and tuck yourself under his arm again, “I don’t know why I thought that would be scarier.”
He sighs, his smile faltering but still fond, “Past experiences and self perception complicate the anxiety around sex and intimacy. It’s a natural response based on your lived experiences.”
“Oh.” you mutter, slight deject in your tone.
“But we can work on it, if you want.” he adds, “It’s all up to you with what you’re comfortable with and how you want to do it. If you’ll allow me, I’d love to help you in any way I can, angel.”
You really don’t know how you got so lucky. Someone so kind, and patient, and willing to be with you as you navigate these things you normally would have kept to yourself. You feel grateful to be able to bare a piece of yourself to him, and know that he would receive it with open arms, wrapping it up and handling it with as much care as he can bear.
You cuddle closer, and mumble before your eyes succumb to sleep, “Love you. So much.”
Spencer looks down maybe two seconds later and you’re already out like a light. He chuckles softly to himself and whispers, “I love you more than you’ll ever know, sweet girl. Good night.”

❝ seven years and a day short, ❞  ‎ annie x smoke
Tumblr media
ooo. 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔… established relationship, mutual pining, jealousy, vaginal fingering, explicit sexual content, emotional hurt/comfort, feelings, brief thoughts of violence, handjobs, semi-public sex. brief use of the n-word. soft!smoke.
ooo. 𝒔𝒚𝒏𝒐𝒑𝒔𝒊𝒔… smoke and annie reunite after seven years apart.
ooo. 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒔… so i wrote another one because i am literally obsessed with these two and couldn’t get them out of my head. this one is wayyyy longer than the first one so be aware lol. i just loveee how soft smoke is for / around annie 😩 michael and wunmi’s chemistry is truly unmatched.
Tumblr media
seven years.
that’s how much time had passed between them. seven long, excruciating years that seemed to bleed into each other. seven years since he’s last seen her, held her, kissed and made love to her. but for smoke it felt like an eternity. he didn’t believe in love at first sight — he thought it was a ridiculous concept; being able to fall in love with someone so quickly without truly knowing them. that kind of naive thinking was more of stack’s beliefs.
smoke’s witnessed enough of his brother’s love affairs to deduce love as being a complicated concept that wasn’t meant for everyone. he didn’t indulge in the promiscuous women that they met at the juke joints like stack did and turned down every salacious offer that they made. he wouldn’t even look at them long enough to show interest. and they would roll their eyes in offense and frustration at his nonchalance before walking off to find someone else to feed them attention they were seeking.
but it didn’t matter to smoke because no woman compared to her. annie completely ruined him to the point where he felt no attraction to anyone else. his body and heart were reserved solely for her even after all these years. he’s been inside of her enough to know no one else could pull that same visceral reaction out of him the way that she used to; the one that had him persevering through his virility and fucking her until their bodies were shaking from overstimulation.
she owned him. every inch of his body was hers and he never once contemplated on sharing any part of himself with anyone else. he didn’t believe in love; not at first. not until he met her.
he found ways to satiate himself through his sexual frustrations. like now he was sprawled out across the mattress, laid wide awake with his mind wandering on annie. he slipped his hands underneath the waistband of his pants and reached for his cock that was already messily leaking against the fabric of his underwear.
his body shivered as he wrapped his fingers around the engorged flesh, palming himself until he’s got a firm grip. he brushed his thumb over the tip; smearing the precum and using it as a lubricant to slick himself up. his chest heaved in spasms, breaths came out rugged and labored through his flared nostrils, eyes squeezed shut as he tugged his hand in an undulating motion.
he allowed his mind to wander on annie; imagining that it was her dexterous hands that were jerking him off instead of his own, imagining how vocal and filthy she would be as she engaged in teasing him towards completion. smoke’s hips rolled in tandem against his hands as he tugged with vigor, picturing annie’s succulent lips stretched around his the shape of cock sucking him off until he’s completely boneless and milked dry.
his jaw clenched in accordance to his jerking movements. he spreads his legs further open, allotting himself more space as he twisted and tugged at his taut flesh. parts of him wants to delay his orgasm so that he could keep indulging in his thoughts of annie but his body is desperate for a release with him already feeling it creeping up on him in the way his abdomen clenched and toes curled in the fabric of his socks.
“annie,” smoke grunts, biting so harshly on his lower lip that he tasted the salty bitterness of blood stinting from the bruise.
he stifles his moan behind pursed lips, wary of inadvertently waking his brother who was only feet away in the room beside him. smoke’s body goes lax as he releases; his pulse slows and his breathing steadies as he laid there in the filth of his fluids with his mind still thinking about annie.
“you nervous?” stack questions, though there’s a teasing tone behind it that has smoke narrowing his gaze in on him.
they were traveling back to the south as their time with capone had come to an abrupt end. all throughout the journey of their migration, smoke’s mind anxiously wandered on annie and their reconciliation. his thoughts soon became torturous as he contemplated on the possibility of her moving on with someone else or her still being upset about him leaving all those years to want to see him again.
usually smoke was good at masquerading his emotions but he always seemed to wear his heart on his sleeve whenever it came to annie. and of course stack was always the one to notice the subtitles in his brother’s emotions and demeanor; at how his fingers tapped nervously against his pants as he stared at the bypassing scenery of field workers with his face furrowed in a contemplative frown.
nervous was too meek in its description to describe how he was feeling. smoke was fucking terrified at the thought of her rejecting him or telling him that she had fallen out of love with him during the seven year stint of their separation.
stack pursed his lips and inhaled a sharp drag from the cigarette that he was smoking. he blew the smoke into the air before turning his attention back on his brother. he chuckles, shaking his head as he heeded smoke’s nervous demeanor. “all these years and annie’s still got you wrapped around her finger?”
smoke doesn’t even offer a rebuttal, because despite his brother’s teasing the statement is true. never once had he felt this kind of love for someone — what he had with annie was unprecedented but sacred; a bond that he cherished as the second most important relationship in his life. she didn’t just have him wrapped around her finger, she had him completely infatuated and enamored by her.
“i don’t know what you actin’ all nervous for. you know as soon as you two see each other again it’ll go back to how it used to be.”
smoke sighs, shrugging his shoulders. “it’s been seven years, stack.” he wants to hold onto his brother’s reassurance but he couldn’t shake that nagging feeling of despair that tugged in his chest.
“what, you think she with someone else now?”
smoke’s jaw tensed at the thought of someone touching her body, kissing her lips and making love to her in all the ways he’s been deprived of. “i don’t know…”
stack shakes his head before he’s absentmindedly flicking the remainder of his cigarette onto the ground. “nah. annie was just as much in love with you as you were with her. the shit y’all had ran deep. doesn’t matter how much time passes, you don’t move on from that kind of love.” the tension in smoke’s jaw loosens as he considers stack’s words.
he was right.
their connection was too strong, their history was too deep for it to be discarded so easily like that. annie was always his and he remained devoted to her without any hesitation or regret. and maybe it was selfish for him to expect her to do the same after he abandoned her but he clung onto that belief as he felt his heart rate quicken at the thought of seeing her again.
they stop for a drink.
smoke tries to hide his impatience as stack stands at the counter sipping idly on his bottle of beer and trailing his heady gaze behind every woman’s ass that passed by. “how long are we gonna be here?” he questions offhandedly, looking over his shoulder at stack whose attention was distracted by a tall brown skinned woman that had just walked in.
he was eager to see annie again but stack’s interval pitstops were causing a delay in him reaching his destination. stack’s attention thwarts at his brother’s abrasive tone. “damn nigga we just got here! you tryin’ to leave already?”
smoke sighs softly as he extends his hand outwardly. “give me the keys. i’ll come back and get you after i’m done,” he didn’t have time to stand around watching his brother flirt with every woman that walked by. his anxiousness to see annie was accruing by the minute.
“alright, alright.” stack acquiesced as he sat his half empty bottle of beer down onto the counter and reached in pockets to retrieve the car keys. but then he’s pausing, raising his eyebrows in a piqued curiosity as his eyes look over at something across the room. “huh. well if you’re goin’ to see annie you don’t need to look too far…” at this, smoke furrows his brows but then he’s turning around and following stack’s gaze as he juts his chin out to something behind him.
it doesn’t take long for him to find her. even in a crowded room full of people his gaze somehow narrows in on her without hesitation. his breath catches in his throat as he drinks her in — seven years passed but nothing had changed about her. she was still as beautiful as the last time that he saw her and smoke could already feel himself become overwhelmed just by looking at her.
she had a way of doing that; making him flush nervously at the intimidation of her beauty. usually, he held a confident and domineering demeanor that attested to his and stack’s known reputations. but annie was the only one to break through that barrier, the only one that got to witness the softer side of smoke that he reserved solely for her. she managed to prevail where other women had tried (and failed) to develop a connection with him — a connection that ran so deep that it still had him pining after her even after seven years.
smoke’s eyes stared at her, watching as she stood by one of the tables. she was oblivious to his heady gaze and was preoccupied talking to a friend he assumed she had came here with. smoke’s eyes lowered as he appreciatively took in the sight of her; at the fullness of her figure and the slope of curves that accentuated her physique. the dress she wore was cut to where the top of her full breasts were perched highly on top of her chest.
smoke doesn’t even realize how long he’s been staring at her until he feels stack’s hand clasp around his shoulder. “you gone keep starin’ or are you gone go over there and talk to your girl?”
he doesn’t even know if annie was still his girl, but with stack’s encouragement and her friend briefly walking off to talk to someone, smoke uses that as an incentive to finally approach her. and just as he’s about to walk over to where she’s stood, he’s being intercepted by a guy that suddenly steps towards her. smoke pauses, pursing his lips in a scowl as watched annie’s gaze suddenly meet her suitor’s.
a sudden look of surprise stretches across her features, but then it’s being substituted by a small smile that has smoke’s jaw tensing. his eyes remain on them, narrowing further as he watched them seemingly settle into comfortability. it’s the sound of annie’s laughter ricocheting through the room and filling his ears that has smoke brushing off his brother’s clasped hand and beelining his way to annie.
“smoke!” he ignores his brother’s protests as he pushes his way through the crowd of people. annie’s sentence trails off airily when she looks up and sees smoke’s harried approach. she blinks in surprise, turning away from the guy as she breathed him in.
“smoke?”
his heart flutters in that familiar way that it always does whenever he’s around her; at the way his name falls softly off of her lips in a near whisper. and for a moment they’re just standing there staring at each other completely oblivious to the world around them until the guy harrumphs softly and interrupts their moment of intimacy.
smoke cuts his eyes at the guy, glowering as he sized him up. his fingers clench into a fist though he feels the temptation to reach inside of his holster for his gun and shoot him for being in such close proximity to annie.
the guy flits his gaze between them. “uh, you two know each other or something’?” smoke resists the urge of laughing sardonically at the guy’s naive curiosity. but his anger prevailed above all else and he’s stepping in front of annie instead, hindering the guy’s lingering view of her. smoke doesn’t bother hiding the deepening scowl that’s worn on his face or the snarled curl of his upper lip.
“i think you best go find someone else to talk to. cause this one’s taken,” the guy’s eyes widened at smoke’s forewarning. his gaze wander over smoke as looks over at annie with a slight apprehension. “you can’t hear? you best walk away ‘fore you don’t have the chance to walk again!” his hand digs inside of his jacket pocket, reaching for his revolver. at the sight of the gun the guy realizes the depth of smoke’s threat and is hurriedly scurrying away.
smoke lowers his hand, rolling the taut tension out of his jaw before turning around to look at annie again. “did you have to do that? we were just talkin’, smoke.”
he scoffs humorlessly, clicking his tongue against his teeth. “you were talkin’, but he was thinkin’ about all the ways he could bend you over one of these counters and fuck you.” he rebuttals, feeling his anger return at the thought.
he couldn’t help but feel a bit territorial when it came to annie; just like with the guy from before it wasn’t uncommon for men to vie for her attention. and every time he caught someone’s eyes lingering on her for too long, or their smile got a bit too big for his liking, smoke was always there to intercept — immediately terminating the conversation (and their intentions of bedding her.)
this time it’s annie who scoffs as she shakes her head, absentmindedly setting her beer aside. “you’re gone for seven years and now you wanna show up threatenin’ to shoot someone for talkin’ to me?” she walks off, pushing her way through the crowd of people. and like always smoke follows behind her.
she’s about to walk out of the door, but his fingers are haste to grab her by the wrist and pull her into an empty storage room. she tugs her arm free from his grasp so that she’s able to fold her arms against her chest. her eyes shift off to the side, “what you come back for?” he demeanor is closed off but the softness in her voice as she speaks betrays her completely.
“we left capone and came down here to open our own jukejoint. we’re meetin’ the owner later to go see the place,” he says, his eyes hold the weight of her stare as he takes a few preemptive steps towards her. “but i came back for you.” at his confession, annie’s eyes find his again.
she considers his words, nodding her head as she posits, “so after seven years you finally decide to come back for me?” smoke recoils at her rebuttal, sheepishly rubbing his hand against the back of his neck.
“annie,” he murmurs, his voice caught between dejection and begging. “baby, you gotta know it killed me being away from you so long. there ain’t a day that went by that i didn’t think about you. i was damn near miserable without you the only thing that kept me sane was knowin’ that one day i would come back to you again.”
he could see the stoicism behind her resolve slowly falling, but she still holds her guard from where she stood. “a lot can change in seven years, elijah. a lot has changed.”
he nods somberly in agreement. “i know…but what i feel for you ain’t ever changed and i’m hopin’ that it hasn’t changed for you either. cause i love you, annie. my heart ain’t never belonged to anyone but you.” he stands there, holding a bated breath as he looked at her.
“no one else?” she asked with a raised brow. he could hear the implication behind her question and the curiosity that lingers behind it.
“just you. only you.” he promises, immediately denying any suggestiveness that wandered around her mind.
she lowers her arms and her defenses as she confesses, “my feelin’s ain’t changed either.” smoke releases a sigh of relief and is hurriedly decimating the space between them as he approaches her. his hands reach up and cradle her face within his grasp as he leaned his forehead against hers.
his heart lurches against his chest at the closeness of proximity, of him finally being able to touch and hold her again. his eyes hold her stare before slowly lowering to her parted lips. he nudged closer, lingering there almost tentatively. his tongue laps over his lower lip before he whispers, “can i?”
“you ain’t ever have to ask before,” she murmurs, equally as soft and coquettish. his pulse hastens at her permission and he’s immediately leaning forward to capture her lips over his.
smoke brushes their mouths softly, just the barest mesh of lips on lips. it’s timid. kind of chaste and shy and uncertain. but then he’s leaning in again, pressing his lips a bit more firmly against annie’s as he melts into the embrace. he groans throatily against her lips, his hands abandon their perch on her face to slide down to the curve of her hips, tugging her body closer until there’s not a barrier of space left between them.
smoke’s lips chase after hers. their lips are ravenously devouring each others and their kisses are full of their tongues intertwining and saliva being messily transferred from each other’s mouths. and smoke becomes so dizzy into it that his senses become slightly disoriented.
“annie.” he groans breathlessly, momentarily pulling away from the kiss to lull his breathing. smoke opens his eyes as looked down at annie who looked equally as dazed as he felt.
they stare at each other as they stood there with their heaving chests and swollen lips.
their mouths sought after each others again, slowly, feverishly, with smoke’s lips immediately chasing after annie’s like he’s savoring their kisses for memory. she moans at the feeling of his fingers burning against her skin as he holds her and revels at how his thumbs began kneading softly at her flesh.
“thought about your sexy ass for seven years,” he murmurs, voice rasped as he breathed through his parted lips. he hovers his mouth over hers, desperate to keep the contact. “about kissin’ and touchin’ you again. i spent so many nights jerkin’ myself off thinkin’ about you.” his hand slides against the ruffles of her skirt. she feels a shiver roll down her spine at the tease of his fingers against her skin.
he slides his lips over hers in a soft kiss before lowering his mouth to her neck. he nips at her skin; sucking open mouthed kisses against it until it darkens in a bruise.
“couldn’t find someone to entertain you?” she teases, fingers brushing against his neck as she anchored herself.
he shakes his head as he lowers his mouth to the top of her breast. “didn’t want anyone else. just you. always just you.” he looks up at her, watching as she bites on her lower lip. his fingers skim against her blouse before he’s gently tugging it down.
annie’s wide eyes wander towards the door. “there’s people outside,” she whispers in a half reprimand, though she makes no attempts to stop him from undressing her.
smoke pulls at her blouse and avidly slips the straps of her bra down her shoulders until she’s standing topless. “i don’t give a damn,” he murmurs, palming her left breast with his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze.
annie’s head lolls back in pleasure, eyes flutter softly at the tease of his thumb caressing her nipples. “i know but if someone walks in—” a broken gasp cuts her off mid-sentence; her attention’s distracted and everything else easily becomes disregarded from her mind except for the way smoke’s lips pucker around her right nipple. he tugs at the sensitive flesh with his teeth, then soothes his tongue over it with a gentle lap.
“oh, fuck.” she moans at his dexterity and how his mouth and hands work in tandem on her breasts. his cock swells in its girth at the sound of her crooning noises; already straining and painfully curling against his thigh.
he rolls her other nipple against his fingers, loosening his lips from around her breast with a wet and resounding ‘pop’. he kisses her filthily, sliding his tongue within hers and swallowing the sounds of her moans.
“need you, baby.” smoke says against her kiss-swollen lips as he rolled his hips into hers, allowing her to feel the evidence of his growing arousal. his body was shaking at the thought of being inside of her again.
and all is takes is annie’s gentle nod and soft murmur of ‘okay’ that has him hurriedly tugging at her clothing. their mouths meet in another bruising kiss as smoke maneuvered them towards the stack of boxes that were perched in the corner of the room. his hands were already stripping her down of her clothes, reaching underneath her skirt to pull at her bloomers.
“smoke,” annie whimpers as he momentarily retracts from the kiss and lowered to his knees just enough to tug her bloomers all the way down her legs. he stands fully upright again, crowding and gently pushing her back until she’s leaned against the stack of boxes.
a prolonged moan falls from her lips when his forefinger and middle finger curl and spread her lips open invitingly; easily slipping through her slickness.
“fuck, baby.” wetness immediately drenches his fingers. the sweet smell of her arousal seeps in his nostrils.
smoke’s thick and dexterous fingers moved gingerly inside of her, puckering in and out as he twisted his wrist and curled his fingers deeper inside of her. she’s already close. he can tell by the way her cunt clenched tightly around his fingers and how she’s gripping his shirt in her hands. “seven years apart and this pussy still gets wet for me.” smoke draws his fingers deeper, inflicting her with these sensations that have her breathless and shaking.
it’s not long before he feels her arousal squeezing out of her. annie moans heavily, feeling the aftershocks still tingling through her body after her release.
when she comes to, she grabs smoke by the by neck and pulls his mouth back to hers for a kiss, heeding him with the same fervor he’d incited at first. “i want you inside of me.” she murmurs, it’s so visceral and unabashed when she says it that it makes smoke’s cock stir.
he nods, crouching down a bit to lift her onto the stack of boxes. he shifts her legs around his body until he’s standing in between her legs. annie moans softly, her curly eyelashes flutter in content as smoke reaches underneath her skirt and firms a grip on her butt.
he roughly squeezes each of her cheeks, bringing her closer against him and teasingly thrusting his hips forward, allowing her to feel the swollen erection that was hotly pressed against his thigh. a broken moan fell from her lips again, hitching just in the apex of her throat. her cunt quivers at the contact, desperate to feel it again. “smoke,” she rasps; her throat heavy, voice too breathy to form any coherent words at the moment.
he could feel his lips going numb, lungs burning desperately, begging them to part for air. but he ignored it and continued to kiss her perfectly succulent lips, nipping and tugging at the plush skin as a litany of moans rang out of her. he tugs at the zipper of his pants, feeling them loosen around his hips. he shoved them down until they’re in a pool around his ankles, no longer restricting his movements.
he pulls annie’s skirt up until it’s bunched up around her hips.
he leans forward, placing one hand on the box while the other wrapped around her waist pulling her closer. they shudder in tandem when his cock teases her slit. they kiss again. slowly, softly, unhurried as smoke grabs hold of his dick and aligns it at her swollen center.
her eyes roll to the back of her head, stomach tightens in recoil when his tip spreads her slicked lips open. he clefts her slowly, disappearing inside of her inch by inch.
his girth is thick as he stretches inside of her; it’s an easy accommodation as he passes through the wetness of her labia, teasing the tip of his cock at the hilt of her vulva. she whimpers, biting on her bottom lip at the delicious burn of his intrusion.
he murmurs in a curse, looking down as he watched himself stretch her. she’s so tight and warm around him that it nearly makes him cum at the feeling of her cunt swallowing around him. his breathing’s rugged as he shifted his hips downward a bit so that their pelvis are perfectly aligned. smoke continues his feat until he’s curled at her hilt with her seated at his base. he’s hung, even when he’s pushed himself so far inside of her cunt that he’s nearly pressed into her belly, there’s still inches of him too big to stretch further inside of her.
he shivers, throat clicks at the gentle flutter she warps around him. “yeah?” he inquired as he gave her a moment of adjustment. she doesn’t respond verbally, only incites a grinding hip thrust forward that catches him by surprise. he swallows, muttering a heh. smoke reciprocates her hip thrust, emphasizing the rotation of his hips as he retracted and filled her in a steady pace.
he balances his weight on the balls of his feet as he filled her deeply. her being on the box gives them a bit of an imbalance but he widens his stance and barred her legs tighter around his waist as he holds her against him.
their chests heaved heavily, bodies shivered at the delicious feeling of his dick being nestled deeply inside of her. his eyes narrowed, a line of sweat beads his brow, hands slightly trembled as he glanced down and enthralled at the sight of his dick pistoning inside of annie, easing ever so gently inside of her.
“fuck,” she whimpers, her head tossing backwards, mouth falling open.
she swirled her hips forward, slowly, teasingly, lifting herself off of the box just enough so that her cunt’s catching his dick every time he withdraws. smoke groans and his shaking hands instantly firmed a hard grip on her waist. he recited his own thrust, lurching his hips forward with a shallow rut and lingered against her.
it’s a catch and release of him stretching her until he’s caught at her hilt and he’s left with no choice but to withdraw with a delicious tug in his wake. annie hikes her legs up further, pulling them up until they rested around his waist eliciting a sharper and deeper change in his stroke.
she pulls his mouth to hers and lazily thrusts her tongue into the wetness of his wanton mouth. she bites down on his lips when she feels her toes curl. they could hear voices drawing nearer towards the outside of the door threatening to ruin their moment of intimacy and annie’s heft on the box was starting to scratch roughly beneath her ass.
but the pressure of his dick brushing against her clit every time he rolls his hips had her disregard the chafing friction and the possibility of an intruder.
the muscles in her legs stretch, right on the precipice of pain as her pussy suctions him in deeper. their heavy breaths mingle and she chokes back a sob once she feels the precipice of her orgasm creeping up on her.
tears gather in the back of her pupils, her stomach coils in pleasure and her bottom lip trembles when he grabs her by the ass and shoved her down on his dick until he’s fully bottoming her out where she nearly feels him in her belly and fucks her. he thrusts into her deliberately slow but still draws out his strokes to where she still feels him inside of her even when he pulls out.
she whines high and loud, unable to constrain the noises of her pleasure anymore and quietly hoped that the music from outside is loud enough to drown out her sounds. (but it feels so good that part of her doesn’t even care if it didn’t.) “c’mon baby,” smoke says through trembling breaths, the languorous movements of his thrusts reveal the closeness of his own orgasm. “i feel you squeezin’ around me. cum for me. let me feel you,”
he kisses her cheek as he rolls his hips up into hers. it’s a tug and pull of her cunt clenching around him as he penetrates her. “i love you,” he murmurs, clouded by the pleasure of her.
his body stiffens, stomach clenches as he feels his orgasm nearing its precipice. he hastens his thrusts, fucking into her with abandon. annie whimpers turn into soft moans that she emanates in his ears, her hands grip at his forearm and he feels her cunt clench so hard around him that he bellows out a whimper.
she cums first and it’s so big that she finds herself squirting out her release. her body’s spasming as she lulls down from her orgasm. smoke’s not too far behind, a string of curses fall off of his lips as he feels his dick lurch in forewarning. he continued to rut inside of her as he rode her through her orgasm, milking her completely dry until she goes boneless. his hips jerk and it’s not soon before he’s filling her up with his own warmth.
his breath is hot against her skin as he huffs raggedly against her neck. “fuck.” he groans, pulling himself out as he softens.
they looked a mess — their clothes were skewed, his pants were shoved around his ankles, her breasts spilled out over the top of her shirt. she brushes a hand over his neck, feeling him tremble beneath her touch. “i missed you too. i worried about you every day that you were gone, even though i knew you were safe.” she confesses, bringing her fingers up to touch the string of the mojo bag that he was wearing around his neck.
he pulls away from the embrace to look at her. his hand wraps around hers, giving it a soft squeeze before he turns his head and kisses her palm. “you kept me safe. this bag and thinkin’ about you and our daughter,” his voice trembles a bit at the mention of her, but he persevered through it. “it kept me goin’.”
she nods, blinking through the fogginess of her vision as her pupils lined with tears. her hand releases the bag, now sliding down until her hand is rested over his heart. “i knew you would come back. i just wish it was sooner,”
“i know,” he concurs with a somber nod. “but i’m back now and you don’t gotta worry about me leavin’ you ever again.” he promises, reaching his hand up to cradle her face. she leans into his touch, exhaling a soft sigh as she nods her head.
she’s quiet for a moment. then, “i love you, too.” she says, reciting his earlier words. the heaviness of the sentiment has his chest tightening and a smile pulling at his lips.
he kisses her soft and sweet, letting his mouth linger against hers. “c’mon, we gotta get back out there before someone walks in on us,” annie says in between lighthearted giggles as smoke presses soft pecks over her lips and face.
“i told you i don’t give a damn who walks in. i plan on makin’ up for these seven years we were apart!” smoke slides his hand upward, brushing his thumb over the sinuous crease of skin that dipped at her waist. air catches in her throat when his hand finds comfort between her inner thighs.
brushing through a few curly hairs he finds down there, he gently puckered a finger inside of her; feeling an immediate warmth and wetness shroud him. she breathes softly and nudges her hips forward, nonverbally telling him to insert another.
he presses his finger against her clitoris, teasing ministrations against her sensitive flesh. she thrusts her hips feverishly against the callus padding of his nimble fingers, stretching her thighs wider, giving him a better view of her swollen cunt. he watches avidly as he pushes his fingers in and out of her in a fluid motion, watches as her slick gathers on his fingers with every thrust. “elijah,” she keened, his name is the only tangible thing that rolls off of her tongue.
he could already feel her swelling around his fingers, could feel her thighs clamping down on him when he flicked his wrist and curled his fingers deeper. “that’s it baby,” he purrs huskily in her ears, pressing a gentle kiss against her temple as he increased his efforts.
annie’s mind is hazy, thighs were quivering relentlessly beneath her, stretching just so on the precipice of pain. blood gathers in smoke’s cock again as he enthralls at her face that contorts in pleasure, and he’s painstakingly rigid, curled against his thigh, ready to be nestled inside of her again.

The bustling chaos of the airport filled Y/n’s senses. She pulled her cap lower over her face and adjusted her sunglasses, hoping to slip past unnoticed. It was her first public appearance since announcing the cancellation of her engagement, and she knew the media frenzy that awaited her.
But the fans were relentless. As she walked toward the departure gate, a small crowd gathered around her, their voices overlapping in a cacophony of questions.
“Y/n! Is it true you and Seungcheol broke up because of Sewon?”
“Do you regret ending the engagement?”
“What happened between you and Seungcheol?”
Y/n stopped in her tracks, her heart pounding. She forced a calm expression, though her hands trembled as she gripped the strap of her bag.
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be answering any personal questions today,” she said firmly, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside.
The cameras continued to flash, and the murmurs grew louder, but Y/n kept walking. Her chest tightened with every step, each question cutting deeper than she cared to admit. By the time she reached her gate, she felt like she could barely breathe.
Finding a quiet corner, she slumped into a seat and closed her eyes, willing the tears to stay hidden. The echoes of the fans’ words lingered in her mind, reopening wounds she thought she had begun to heal. But as painful as it was, Y/n reminded herself why she had made the decision to walk away. It was for her own peace, her own worth things she refused to compromise any longer.
Seungcheol stared at his phone, his thumb hovering over Y/n’s contact. He had hesitated so many times before, unsure if she would even want to hear from him. But tonight, the emptiness in his apartment felt unbearable, and he couldn’t shake the need to hear her voice.
Taking a deep breath, he pressed the call button. The line rang, each tone dragging out the silence he dreaded. Finally, the call went to voicemail.
“Hey, Y/n,” he began, his voice low and uncertain. “It’s me. I… I just wanted to check on you. I know I don’t have the right to ask, but I hope you’re doing okay. I miss you."
He paused, the words catching in his throat.
“I… I’m sorry for everything. I hope someday we can talk. Take care, Y/n.”
Ending the call, Seungcheol let out a shaky breath and set the phone down. The emptiness lingered, but for the first time, he felt a flicker of hope—however small—that things might one day be different.
A day later, Seungcheol sat in front of his phone camera, his expression a mix of determination and vulnerability. He had debated for hours about making this video, but the backlash Y/n was facing left him no choice.
Pressing record, he took a deep breath and began to speak.
“Hi, this is Seungcheol. I know a lot has been said and speculated about my relationship with Y/n and the engagement we ended. I want to start by saying that Y/n has always been someone I deeply respect and care for. The decision we made to part ways was mutual, and it was a deeply personal matter.”
He paused, his eyes glancing down briefly before returning to the camera. “But what I cannot stand by and watch is the way she’s being harassed and blamed. Y/n does not deserve the hate or the accusations being thrown at her. She made the decision that was best for her, and I respect that wholeheartedly.”
Seungcheol leaned forward slightly, his tone growing firmer. “I also want to address the rumors about Sewon. She is a friend, nothing more. Any assumptions beyond that are untrue and have caused unnecessary pain to everyone involved.”
He exhaled slowly, as if releasing the weight of his words. “I’m asking, sincerely, for everyone to stop harassing Y/n. She deserves peace and privacy, just as any of us do. Please be kind. Thank you.”
With that, he ended the recording and uploaded the video, hoping it would help ease the storm Y/n was facing. As he sat back, he realized that while he couldn’t undo the past, he could at least try to make things right in the present.
Two days later, Seungcheol found himself dialing Y/n’s number once again. To his surprise, this time, she answered.
“Hello?” Y/n’s voice was calm but distant, guarded.
“Y/n,” Seungcheol said, his voice heavy with emotion. “Thank you for answering. I just… I needed to talk to you.”
She remained silent, and he took it as his cue to continue. “I know I hurt you. I know I let you down in ways I can’t even begin to make up for. But I want you to know how sorry I am. Truly. You didn’t deserve any of this—the doubts, the pain, the public scrutiny. None of it.”
“Seungcheol,” she interrupted, her tone sharp yet composed. “I didn’t answer this call to hear your apology. I’ve heard it before. What I needed from you was action, not words. And you failed me when it mattered most.”
He swallowed hard, the weight of her words cutting through him. “I know. I just… I hoped there might be a way to fix this. To fix us.”
“There’s no fixing this,” Y/n said firmly. “Not anymore. I gave everything to this relationship, and I lost myself in the process. I won’t do that again.”
Her words were final, and Seungcheol felt his chest tighten. “I understand,” he said quietly. “I just want you to be happy, Y/n. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“I hope you find happiness too,” she replied
Three years ago
Under the bright lights of Y/n’s solo concert, Seungcheol and the members of Seventeen stood backstage, waiting for the show to begin. The crowd’s energy was electric, and their excitement mirrored the audience’s.
When Y/n finally took the stage, she owned it. Her presence was magnetic, her voice captivating as she performed with a passion that seemed to radiate beyond the stage. Seungcheol found himself mesmerized, his admiration growing with every song.
“She’s incredible,” Jeonghan whispered, nudging him. “No wonder everyone’s in love with her.”
Seungkwan nodded enthusiastically. “She’s not just talented; she’s got this aura. It’s impossible not to admire her.”
As Y/n finished her set and thanked the audience, her smile was radiant, lighting up the entire arena. Seungcheol couldn’t help but feel a spark of something deeper—a connection he couldn’t quite explain.
When they were finally introduced backstage, Y/n was gracious and warm despite the exhaustion evident in her eyes. She greeted each member with genuine kindness, and when her gaze met Seungcheol’s, he felt his heart skip a beat.
“You were amazing out there,” he said, his voice steady despite the nervous flutter in his chest.
“Thank you,” she replied, her smile soft and sincere. “I’ve heard so much about you and your group. It’s an honor to finally meet you all.”
That night, Seungcheol found himself lingering after the others had left, gathering the courage to speak again. “Y/n,” he began, his voice quieter this time, “I was wondering… if you’d like to grab coffee sometime. Just us.”
Her eyebrows rose slightly, surprise flickering across her face. Then, she smiled—a real, genuine smile that made his heart race. “I’d like that,” she said simply.
And so, it began. Coffee turned into late-night conversations, shared laughter, and a deep bond that grew stronger with each passing day. For Seungcheol, falling in love with Y/n was as natural as breathing, and in her presence, he felt like he had found a kindred spirit. The world seemed brighter, and the burdens of their demanding careers felt lighter when they were together.
Though their love story had its share of challenges, those early days were a reminder of the connection that had once brought them so much joy. And even now, as Seungcheol reflected on everything they had lost, he couldn’t help but cherish the moments that had made him fall in love with her in the first place.
As their coffee meetings turned into a weekly ritual, Seungcheol found himself looking forward to those moments more than anything else. Y/n had a way of making him laugh, even on his worst days. She listened intently, offering advice when he needed it and silence when words weren’t enough.
One evening, after a particularly long day of rehearsals, Seungcheol showed up at their favorite cafe, his exhaustion evident. Y/n noticed immediately and pushed a steaming cup of tea toward him.
“You look like you’ve been through a war,” she teased gently.
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “Something like that. But seeing you makes it all worth it.”
Her cheeks flushed, but she hid it behind her own cup. “Flattery will get you nowhere, Choi Seungcheol.”
“Oh, I don’t know,” he replied with a playful smirk. “It got me here with you, didn’t it?”
Their banter flowed effortlessly, the connection between them growing deeper with every interaction. Over time, Seungcheol began to realize that Y/n wasn’t just someone he admired—she was someone he wanted by his side, through every high and low.
One night, as they walked along a quiet street after another coffee date, Seungcheol stopped abruptly. Y/n turned to him, puzzled.
“What is it?” she asked.
He hesitated, his heart pounding. Then, he took a deep breath. “Y/n, I know we’ve only been seeing each other for a short time, but… I like you. A lot. And I was wondering if you’d give us a chance—like, a real chance.”
Y/n stared at him, her expression unreadable. For a moment, he feared he had ruined everything. But then she smiled, her eyes softening.
“I’d like that,” she said simply.
Relief and joy washed over Seungcheol, and without thinking, he reached for her hand. She didn’t pull away. Instead, she squeezed his hand gently, and they continued walking, their steps perfectly in sync.
It was the beginning of a love story that would change both of their lives forever.
Three years into their relationship, Seungcheol knew he couldn’t wait any longer. He wanted Y/n to know how deeply she meant to him and how much he wanted to build a future together. With the help of the Seventeen members, he meticulously planned the proposal.
The venue was a private rooftop garden, adorned with twinkling fairy lights and surrounded by blooming flowers. It was the same place they had shared their first late-night conversation about their dreams and fears. Seungcheol wanted the moment to feel intimate, just as their relationship had always been—a sanctuary from the chaotic world around them.
Y/n arrived at the venue under the pretense of a casual date. As she stepped onto the rooftop, her breath hitched at the sight before her. A path lined with candles led to Seungcheol, who stood waiting under an arch draped in soft, white fabric and flowers.
He smiled nervously as she approached, his hands clasped tightly in front of him. “You’re here,” he said, his voice tinged with both excitement and nerves.
“What is all this?” she asked, her eyes glimmering with curiosity and emotion.
Taking a deep breath, Seungcheol dropped to one knee, pulling out a small velvet box from his pocket. Y/n gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as tears welled in her eyes.
“Y/n,” he began, his voice steady despite the pounding of his heart. “From the moment I met you, you turned my world upside down in the best way possible. You’ve been my rock, my partner, and my greatest love. Every day with you feels like a gift, and I can’t imagine my life without you by my side.”
He opened the box, revealing a delicate ring that sparkled under the soft glow of the lights. “Will you marry me?” he asked, his eyes searching hers.
Tears streamed down Y/n’s face as she nodded, unable to find the words. “Yes,” she finally managed to say, her voice breaking. “A thousand times yes.”
Seungcheol stood, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a tight embrace. The sound of soft applause broke out as the Seventeen members emerged from their hiding spots, cheering and congratulating the newly engaged couple.
The night was filled with laughter, love, and promises for the future. For Seungcheol and Y/n, it was a moment they would treasure forever—a testament to the love that had grown between them, steady and unwavering, through every challenge and triumph.
But as the weeks passed, cracks began to appear in their seemingly perfect engagement. It started when Seungcheol grew closer to Sewon, a fellow idol he had known for years. Initially, Y/n didn’t mind; she trusted Seungcheol and knew how important friendships were in their industry. But gradually, his priorities seemed to shift.
Missed calls, delayed responses, and canceled plans became more frequent. Whenever Y/n tried to address the issue, Seungcheol brushed it off, claiming he was busy with group schedules and projects. However, Y/n couldn’t ignore the pattern: most of his excuses coincided with him spending time with Sewon.
One evening, after yet another postponed dinner, Y/n decided to confront him. She waited for him in their shared apartment, her heart heavy with unease. When he finally walked through the door, his tired expression did little to soften her resolve.
“Seungcheol, we need to talk,” she said firmly.
He sighed, dropping his bag onto the couch. “Can it wait? I’m exhausted.”
“No, it can’t,” she replied, her voice trembling slightly. “You’ve been distant lately, and I feel like I’m not even a priority anymore. What’s going on?”
He rubbed his temples, frustration flickering across his face. “Y/n, I told you, it’s just work. You know how demanding our schedules are.”
“Is it work?” she pressed, her eyes searching his. “Or is it Sewon?”
At her words, Seungcheol’s expression hardened. “Why are you bringing her into this? She’s just a friend.”
“Then why do I feel like I’m competing with her for your attention?” Y/n’s voice cracked, the pain she had been suppressing spilling out. “You cancel our plans to meet her, you talk about her all the time, and you don’t even see how it’s affecting us.”
“You’re overthinking this,” he snapped, his tone sharper than he intended. “Sewon has nothing to do with us. You’re making a big deal out of nothing.”
Y/n took a step back, stunned by his dismissiveness. “Nothing?” she echoed, her voice barely above a whisper. “Do you even hear yourself, Seungcheol? I’ve tried to be patient, to understand, but I can’t keep pretending that everything’s fine when it’s not.”
He looked away, his jaw tightening. “I don’t know what you want me to say.”
“I want you to choose us,” she said, tears streaming down her face. “But it feels like you’ve already made your choice.”
The room fell silent, the weight of her words hanging heavily between them. Seungcheol opened his mouth to respond but stopped himself. Instead, he turned and walked toward the bedroom, leaving Y/n standing alone in the living room, her heart breaking.
The days that followed were filled with strained conversations and unspoken tension. Y/n tried to hold on, hoping that Seungcheol would realize what was at stake, but his continued indifference only deepened the rift between them. Meanwhile, the rumors about him and Sewon began to spread, fueled by fan speculation and media reports.
Y/n found herself caught in a storm of doubt and heartbreak, unsure of how to salvage a relationship that seemed to be slipping through her fingers. And as much as she loved Seungcheol, she couldn’t ignore the growing feeling that she was fighting for something he no longer valued.
One rainy afternoon, Y/n received a message from Seungcheol, asking to meet at a small café they used to frequent during the early days of their relationship. Despite her reservations, she agreed, hoping for clarity amidst the chaos.
As she entered the café, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and the sound of soft jazz music greeted her. Seungcheol was already there, sitting at a corner table, his hands wrapped around a steaming mug. His eyes lit up when he saw her, but there was a hesitance in his gaze.
“Thanks for coming,” he said as she sat down across from him.
Y/n nodded, folding her hands on the table. “What did you want to talk about?”
Seungcheol sighed, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of his mug. “I’ve been thinking a lot about us… about everything.”
“And?” Y/n prompted, her heart pounding in anticipation.
“I don’t think I’m ready for marriage,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I thought I was, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I’m too young. There’s so much going on in my career, and I feel like I’m being pulled in so many directions.”
Y/n stared at him, her chest tightening. “Why didn’t you tell me this sooner? Before proposing?”
“I thought I could handle it,” he said, his eyes filled with regret. “I thought my love for you would be enough to overcome everything else. But now, I’m not so sure.”
Her lips trembled as she spoke. “Do you even want to be with me, Seungcheol? Or am I just another thing you’re unsure about?”
“Of course I want to be with you,” he said quickly, reaching across the table for her hand. She pulled away, shaking her head.
“You can’t have it both ways,” she said, her voice breaking. “You can’t ask me to commit my life to you while you’re unsure about yours.”
Her voice was sharper now, the edge of frustration cutting through. “Is it about Sewon?”
Seungcheol’s silence spoke louder than words. Sewon’s name had become a sore point between them in recent months. A close friend and fellow idol, her bond with Seungcheol had always been evident. While Y/n had trusted him implicitly, the whispers of fans and the media began to seep into her mind, planting seeds of doubt.
“She’s just a friend,” he said, but his tone lacked conviction. “You know that.”
“Do I?” Y/n’s voice cracked, betraying the pain she had tried so hard to mask. “Do you realize how it feels to constantly see her by your side, laughing with you, leaning on you? And the worst part? You’ve never once tried to reassure me."
Seungcheol reached across the table, his hand hovering over hers. “I never meant to hurt you. You have to believe me.”
“Then why does it feel like I’m the only one fighting for this relationship?” She pulled her hand away, tears threatening to spill. “We’re supposed to be partners, Seungcheol. But lately, it feels like I’m competing for your attention.”
“Maybe… maybe we need some time apart,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Y/n felt her heart shatter. The engagement ring on her finger suddenly felt like a burden, its brilliance mocking her pain. She slipped it off and placed it on the table between them.
“If that’s what you want,” she said, her voice steady despite the storm raging inside her. “Then I won’t stop you.”
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, tears brimming in his eyes. “I never wanted to hurt you.”
Y/n felt her heart shatter. The engagement ring on her finger suddenly felt like a burden, its brilliance mocking her pain. She slipped it off and placed it on the table between them.
Y/n stood, her chair scraping against the floor. “You already have.” Without another word, she walked out of the café, leaving Seungcheol sitting alone, the weight of his choices pressing down on him like never before.
*Flashback ends*
In the weeks that followed, Y/n channeled her heartbreak into her music. Late nights in the studio became her solace as she poured her emotions into lyrics and melodies. Each song she wrote was raw and vulnerable, capturing the pain, confusion, and longing she felt.
When her album was released, it became an instant hit, resonating with fans and critics alike. Tracks like "Falling Out of Love" and "Shadows of Us" topped the charts, their haunting lyrics striking a chord with listeners. In interviews, Y/n remained composed, describing the album as a reflection of her personal journey but never delving into specific details about her relationship with Seungcheol.
One particular song, "Unspoken Goodbye," drew widespread attention. Its lyrics painted a vivid picture of unreciprocated efforts and the ache of realizing love wasn’t enough to hold two people together.
“I reached for you in the dark, but you were already gone. Promises turned to whispers, and now I sing alone.”
Fans speculated endlessly, piecing together clues from the lyrics and her recent public appearances. Some sympathized with her, while others continued to draw comparisons between her and Sewon, fueling debates online.
Through it all, Y/n remained focused on her craft, using her art to heal. Though her heart was still mending, her music gave her
Months after the release, Y/n was invited for an exclusive interview with a renowned media outlet. The interviewer, known for their probing questions, eventually brought up the topic that many were curious about.
“How do you feel about Seungcheol now?” they asked, leaning forward slightly. “After everything that’s happened, do you still think about him?”
Y/n paused, her hands resting gently on her lap as she considered her words. She met the interviewer’s gaze, her expression calm but tinged with melancholy. “A piece of my heart will always love him,” she admitted, her voice steady but soft. “I could never hate him. He was a significant part of my life, and what we shared was real and meaningful.”
She took a deep breath before continuing. “It hurts me to see him getting hurt. Despite everything, I don’t wish pain or hardship upon him. I think that’s what love truly is—wanting the best for someone, even if they’re no longer in your life.”
Her candid response resonated with fans and viewers alike, painting a picture of grace and emotional maturity. It reminded everyone that even in heartbreak, love could leave behind a legacy of compassion and understanding.
Seungcheol watched the interview late at night, alone in his apartment. Her words echoed in his mind, filling him with a mix of regret and longing. The song, the interview, everything she had shared publicly—it all made him realize just how deeply he had hurt her and how much he missed having her in his life.
On an impulse, he picked up his phone and dialed her number. It rang twice before she answered, her voice cautious. “Hello?”
“Y/n, it’s me,” he said, his voice trembling slightly. “I—I saw the interview. And the song. I just… I needed to tell you how sorry I am. For everything.”
She was silent for a moment before responding. “Seungcheol, we’ve already been through this. I’ve moved on, and you should too.”
“I know I messed up,” he said desperately. “But seeing you, hearing your words—it reminded me of everything we had. I miss you, Y/n. I miss us.”
Her voice remained calm but firm. “You miss what we had, Seungcheol, but that doesn’t change what you did. You made choices that hurt me deeply, and I can’t just forget that.”
“I’ll do anything to make it right,” he pleaded. “Please, just give me another chance.”
She sighed softly, her tone filled with a mixture of sadness and finality. “Sometimes, love isn’t enough. I’ll always wish the best for you, but I can’t go back to the way things were. Take care of yourself, Seungcheol.”
Before he could say anything else, she ended the call, leaving him staring at his phone, the weight of her words sinking in. For the first time, he truly understood that some things, no matter how much he wished otherwise, couldn’t be undone.
Months passed, and Y/n eventually entered a new relationship. Her new boyfriend was kind, understanding, and patient—everything she thought she needed to heal. On the surface, they seemed happy together, and the public saw it as her fresh start.
But deep down, Y/n couldn’t shake the emptiness she felt. The laughter didn’t feel as genuine, the conversations didn’t spark the same warmth, and despite her efforts to move on, her heart still ached for the love she had lost.
She found herself reminiscing about Seungcheol more often than she cared to admit—his bright smile, the way he always made her feel safe, the late-night talks where they dreamed about their future together. No matter how hard she tried to deny it, a part of her still belonged to him.
And no matter how much she wanted to forget, she couldn’t.
One evening, Y/n took the stage at a major rock festival, her energy electrifying the crowd. She had always loved experimenting with different genres, and this performance was one of her most powerful yet—raw, intense, and full of emotion. She poured her heart into every note, her voice carrying the weight of everything she had been through.
Backstage, her old friend Seungkwan watched from the wings, deeply moved by her performance. He had always been close to Y/n and seeing her like this—fierce yet fragile—made him realize how much she was still hurting.
Unable to ignore it any longer, he reached out to Seungcheol. “Hyung, you need to come see her. You need to hear her.”
Despite his initial hesitation, Seungcheol agreed. The two arrived at the concert venue unnoticed, blending into the sea of fans as Y/n performed.
Seungcheol’s heart clenched as he watched her under the bright lights, singing her heart out. He could feel her pain in every lyric, see the lingering sadness in her eyes. It was a painful reminder of everything they had lost.
And in that moment, he realized—he had never stopped loving her.
The moment Y/n stepped off the stage, her adrenaline was still pumping. The roar of the crowd echoed in her ears, but even their deafening cheers couldn’t drown out the heaviness in her heart. She barely had time to catch her breath before a familiar voice cut through the haze.
“Y/n.”
She froze.
That voice. That tone.
She turned slowly, her eyes widening as she met Seungcheol’s gaze. He stood just a few feet away, his expression unreadable, but his eyes—those same eyes she once drowned in—were filled with something raw. Something she wasn’t ready to face.
Before she could say a word, her boyfriend Minseong appeared by her side, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Hey, is everything okay?” he asked, glancing between Y/n and Seungcheol.
The tension was suffocating. The members of Seventeen and her own group lingered nearby, uneasy, unsure if they should step in.
Seungcheol let out a bitter chuckle, shoving his hands into his pockets. “So this is him?” His voice was sharp, edged with something close to resentment. “The guy you moved on with?”
Y/n’s jaw clenched. “Cheol—”
“Did he ever make your heart race the way I did?” Seungcheol asked, his voice rising. “Or did you just force yourself to move on because you were scared?”
The room fell silent.
Y/n took a shaky breath, her eyes burning. “You don’t get to do this,” she snapped. “You don’t get to walk back into my life after all this time and question my choices. You were the one who let me go.”
Seungcheol stepped closer, his frustration bubbling over. “Let you go? Y/n, you walked away!” His voice cracked slightly, and for a moment, the anger wavered, revealing the hurt beneath. “You left me. And now you’re here, acting like none of it meant anything?”
“It meant everything,” she shot back, her voice trembling. “And that’s exactly why I had to leave.”
Her boyfriend shifted awkwardly beside her. “Maybe we should talk about this later—”
“No.” Y/n shook her head, eyes locked onto Seungcheol. “You don’t get to stand here and act like you’re the only one who suffered. Do you think it was easy for me? Do you think I didn’t spend nights wondering if I made the right choice?”
Seungcheol’s breath hitched.
Y/n’s hands balled into fists. “I waited, Cheol. I waited for you to fight for me, to give me a reason to stay. But you didn’t. You let me leave. So don’t you dare show up now, acting like you still have a say in my life.”
Seungcheol stared at her, chest rising and falling with the weight of everything he wanted to say. The members of Seventeen shifted uneasily, exchanging glances.
Seungkwan finally stepped in, his voice gentle but firm. “Hyung, maybe this isn’t the right time—”
But Seungcheol ignored him. His eyes stayed on Y/n, desperate, pleading. “Tell me one thing,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “Are you really happy?”
Y/n faltered.
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
And in that silence, Seungcheol got his answer.
The morning after the heated confrontation backstage, the internet was in chaos. News outlets, gossip sites, and social media platforms were flooded with headlines, each twisting the story in its own way.
"Y/n and Seungcheol's Backstage Clash: Former Lovers Turn to Heated Argument at Music Festival!"
"Caught on Camera: Y/n and Seungcheol's Explosive Fight – Tensions Boil Over in Front of Seventeen and Industry Insiders!"
"Seungcheol Confronts Y/n Over Their Past – Did She Ever Move On?"
Fan-recorded videos from the concert venue circulated online, showing snippets of their intense exchange. Though no official statement had been released, lip readers and “insiders” claimed to have deciphered the argument. The drama escalated as netizens took sides.
🗣️ "Y/n deserves to move on. Seungcheol had his chance, why is he acting up now?"
🗣️ "You can literally see the pain in Seungcheol's face... he's still in love with her."
🗣️ "Not Seungcheol pulling a ‘are you really happy?’ moment like it’s a K-drama 😭😭"
🗣️ "Her new boyfriend just standing there while Y/n and Seungcheol basically confess their unresolved feelings 💀"
Within hours, major entertainment news outlets picked up the story. Some reporters speculated on whether the ex-couple had lingering feelings, while others accused Seungcheol of being possessive. Articles broke down the timeline of their past relationship, analyzing every interaction they’d had in public since their breakup.
A particularly viral article from Dispatch read:
"Inside Y/n and Seungcheol’s Emotional Backstage Confrontation: A Love That Never Faded?"
"Sources close to the artists claim that the fight was years in the making. ‘They never fully moved on from each other,’ an anonymous staff member revealed. ‘Everyone knew there was unfinished business between them.’"
Another gossip site went even further:
"Did Y/n Settle for a ‘Safe’ Relationship? Fans Speculate That Her New Boyfriend is Just a Rebound!"
Y/n’s company quickly released a short statement:
"Y/n had a private conversation with a colleague. We ask for your understanding and request that unfounded speculations be avoided."
But Seungcheol’s company remained silent, fueling more rumors. Some fans believed it was because he had nothing to deny.
Meanwhile, Seventeen’s members were being bombarded with questions during schedules. Seungkwan, who had been there that night, looked visibly uncomfortable when asked about it during a live stream.
“Ah… it’s not my place to say anything,” he murmured, avoiding eye contact with the camera. “I just hope people don’t believe everything they read online.”
Three days after the backstage altercation between Y/n and Seungcheol shook the internet, the idol finally addressed the controversy.
At midnight, Seungcheol went live on Weverse, looking visibly tired. Dressed in a simple hoodie and cap, he sighed before speaking, his voice softer than usual.
“First of all, I want to sincerely apologize to the fans,” he began, his fingers laced together as he bowed slightly. “I never wanted to cause a scandal or bring unnecessary attention to anyone, especially Y/n. That night… things got emotional, and I let my feelings get the best of me.”
He paused, exhaling shakily. “I know many of you have seen the videos and read the articles. There’s no excuse for what happened. It was a private conversation that, unfortunately, became very public. And for that, I take full responsibility.”
His eyes flickered with emotion as he hesitated before continuing. “I also won’t lie to you. The truth is… I never stopped caring about Y/n.”
The comment section exploded instantly.
Seungcheol swallowed hard, his hands slightly shaking. “I don’t expect anything to change. She has her own life now, and I respect that. But I also don’t want to pretend anymore.”
💬 “DID HE JUST CONFESS???”
💬 “Wait wait wait HOLD ON.”
💬 “HE STILL LOVES HER??? SEUNGCHEOL WTF”
💬 “Someone check on Y/n’s boyfriend bc there’s no way he’s okay rn 💀”
“I loved her. I still do. And that’s something I can’t hide, no matter how much time passes.”
A heavy silence filled the air. The weight of his confession was undeniable.
“I don’t regret what we had, and I will always be grateful for the memories. But I also know that some things… can’t be undone,” he murmured. “No matter what happens, I just want her to be happy.”
He looked straight into the camera. “To the fans who were disappointed in me, I’m sorry. To Y/n, if you ever see this… I’m sorry for putting you through this again.”
With one final bow, he ended the live.
But the internet was just getting started.
Within minutes, hashtags like #SeungcheolApologizes, #CheolStillLovesY/n, and #Y/nResponseWhen? trended worldwide. Fans were divided—some heartbroken over his pain, others hopeful that this was the beginning of something new.
A few days after Seungcheol’s confession sent the internet into a frenzy, Seungkwan found himself standing outside Y/n’s apartment, nervously shifting on his feet. He had sent her a text earlier, asking if he could talk, and to his surprise, she had agreed.
When the door finally opened, Y/n stood there, arms crossed, an unreadable expression on her face. She looked tired—exhausted, really. And Seungkwan hated knowing that he had contributed to it.
She stepped aside, allowing him in without a word. He hesitated for a second before walking inside, the air between them thick with unspoken tension.
Taking a deep breath, Seungkwan turned to face her. “Y/n, I… I’m so sorry.” His voice was barely above a whisper.
She raised an eyebrow. “For what exactly?”
His stomach twisted. He knew she wasn’t making it easy for him—and honestly, he deserved it.
“For dragging Seungcheol to your concert,” he admitted, guilt evident in his voice. “I thought I was helping. I thought if he saw you, if he heard you sing, he’d finally get some closure. I never meant for things to spiral like this.”
Y/n let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head. “Closure?” She scoffed. “Seungkwan, I was finally starting to move on, and now look at this mess. Do you know how many headlines I’ve had to ignore? How many people have been asking me about my relationship, about Seungcheol, about us?”
Seungkwan lowered his head, shame washing over him. “I know. And I can’t tell you how sorry I am for putting you through this again. I never wanted to make things harder for you.”
She studied him for a moment before sighing. “I know you didn’t mean to hurt me,” she said, voice softer now. “But you should have stayed out of it, Seungkwan. It wasn’t your place to interfere.”
Seungkwan swallowed hard. “I get that now. And if I could take it all back, I would.” His voice cracked slightly. “I just—seeing you like that on stage, I knew you were still hurting. And I saw how much hyung was struggling too. I thought… maybe, deep down, you both just needed a push.”
Y/n’s shoulders slumped, and for the first time, Seungkwan saw the raw emotion in her eyes. “You don’t think I know that?” she whispered. “You don’t think I’ve spent every single day wondering if I made the right choice?”
His breath hitched.
“I still love him, Seungkwan,” she admitted, the words hanging heavy in the air. “But that doesn’t mean we can go back to how things were.”
Seungkwan felt his chest tighten. He had hoped—prayed—that maybe, just maybe, things would fall back into place. But Y/n’s expression told him everything he needed to know.
“I get it,” he murmured. “And I swear, I won’t interfere anymore.” He looked at her with sincerity. “I just want you to be happy, Y/n. Whether that’s with Seungcheol or not.”
For the first time that night, Y/n’s expression softened.
“I know,” she said. “And I appreciate that.”
The tension between them eased, just slightly. And as Seungkwan left that night, he hoped—more than anything—that one day, Y/n and Seungcheol would find the happiness they both deserved.
The buzz surrounding Y/n and Seungcheol hadn’t died down, and after weeks of speculation, Y/n finally agreed to an exclusive interview. It wasn’t to explain herself, nor was it to address the scandal directly—she simply wanted to remind the world who she was beyond the drama.
Sitting across from the interviewer in a beautifully lit studio, Y/n looked poised and elegant, her aura calm despite the chaos that had surrounded her lately.
Halfway through the interview, the inevitable question came.
“Y/n, with everything that has happened recently, I think what everyone wants to know is… are you happy?”
The studio fell into silence, and for a moment, Y/n only blinked, as if carefully choosing her words. The interviewer watched her expectantly, and fans watching from behind their screens held their breath.
Then, Y/n smiled—not forced, not hesitant, but genuine.
“I am happy,” she answered simply, nodding. “I have people around me who love and support me. I’m doing what I love. I’m growing, learning, and becoming a better version of myself every day.”
She paused, her fingers gently running along the armrest of her chair. “I think happiness isn’t just about one person, or one moment. It’s about finding peace within yourself, no matter what’s happening around you.”
Her words sent waves across social media. Some fans cheered her on, proud of her strength, while others couldn’t help but read between the lines.
No matter how people interpreted it, one thing was clear—Y/n wasn’t letting the past define her anymore.
💬 “She didn’t say she moved on. She said she’s happy… but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him anymore.”
💬 “If she’s happy, then that’s all that matters. She deserves it.”
💬 “So this is really the end for her and Seungcheol?”
💬 “What if she’s saying this to convince herself? She looked kind of sad for a second.”
And whether Seungcheol was part of her future or not… that was a story only time would tell.
Just when the internet was beginning to settle down after Y/n’s interview, a single post sent fans into a frenzy once again.
Late at night, Y/n’s boyfriend uploaded a picture to his Instagram story—an intimate yet casual shot of him and Y/n. She was leaning against him, laughing softly, while he had his arm draped over her shoulders.
But what truly set the internet ablaze was the caption.
"Thanks for letting her go."
Within minutes, screenshots flooded Twitter, Instagram, and online forums. Fans and netizens had mixed reactions—some supporting the new relationship, others furious over what they saw as an unnecessary dig at Seungcheol.
It didn’t take long before Seungcheol’s name began trending again, fans anxiously waiting to see if he would respond.
💬 “OHHHHH HE’S PETTY FOR THAT 😭”
💬 “No way he actually posted this 💀💀💀”
💬 “Seungcheol, don’t look at your phone bro.”
💬 “He really said ‘I won.’ But did he, though?”
💬 “This feels kinda insecure… if you’re happy, why throw shade?”
💬 “Y/n deserves to be happy, but this caption was not it.”
However, Seungcheol remained completely silent. No statements. No cryptic posts. No subtle likes or unlikes.
Following the viral Instagram story from Y/n’s new boyfriend, media outlets wasted no time in picking up the drama. Within hours, headlines flooded every major entertainment site, further fueling the ongoing controversy.

The articles analyzed every angle of the situation—some supporting Y/n’s boyfriend, claiming he had every right to express his love publicly, while others criticized him for being unnecessarily petty.
One report even included insights from an anonymous industry insider:
"It’s no secret that Seungcheol and Y/n had a deep history. For a new boyfriend to make such a statement so publicly… it seems more like a declaration of victory than genuine love. Fans are divided, and understandably so."
Online discussions became more heated, with netizens and fans picking sides.
After days of silence, Seungcheol finally broke his silence—and he did it in the most Seungcheol way possible.
💬 “I mean… he’s not wrong, Seungcheol DID let her go.”
💬 “There was no need for this. If he was confident in their relationship, he wouldn’t have posted that.”
💬 “Is Y/n okay with this? She’s been trying to move on peacefully.”
💬 “This is getting so messy. I just want all of them to be happy.”
During SEVENTEEN’s sold-out concert, emotions were already running high, but no one expected the leader to address the controversy head-on.
Right before launching into a rap solo, Seungcheol took a deep breath, smirked slightly, and let the mic drop to his side for a second. The crowd fell silent, sensing something was about to go down.
Then, he looked out at the audience and said, “Someone decided to run their mouth… but I can’t just let that go, right?”
The stadium erupted in screams.
Without missing a beat, the beat dropped, and Seungcheol spit bars sharper than knives, delivering what fans immediately recognized as a freestyle diss aimed directly at Y/n’s boyfriend.
“You think you won, but why you still talkin’?
Got my leftovers, but you’re still stalkin’.
Holdin’ her hand, but you checkin’ my page—
You insecure, man, just stay in your lane.
The crowd went wild, some covering their mouths in shock while others jumped, hyped at the unexpected callout. Seungcheol didn’t stop there. He ended the rap with one last line that sent chills through the venue:
Talkin’ like you won but you don’t know the game,
She’s not a trophy, she don’t need a new name.
You flex online but we know it’s pretend,
If you gotta talk about me, are you really her man?”
“Real love don’t need a caption, it just stays.”
🔥 FANS. LOST. THEIR. MINDS. 🔥
💬 “DID CHEOL JUST DISS HIM LIVE???”
💬 “HE REALLY SAID I CANT LET THAT GO LMAOOO”
💬 “That was directed straight at him and everyone knows it 💀”
💬 “The way Seungcheol handled this was straight SAVAGE but CLASSY.”
As expected, clips of the performance exploded online within minutes. Hashtags like #SeungcheolDissTrack #StayInYourLaneand #ICantLetThatGo trended worldwide.
💬 “DID HE JUST CALL HIM INSECURE???”
💬 “Seungcheol said ‘you got her but you’re STILL mad’ LMAOOO”
💬 “This man had enough and snapped 💀💀”
💬 “Y/n’s boyfriend better not check Twitter today.”
💬 “The fact that he did this in a FULL concert with THOUSANDS of people watching… legendary.”
Even fellow SEVENTEEN members couldn’t hide their reactions—Mingyu was seen howling with laughter, Hoshi dramatically clutched his chest, and Jeonghan smirked knowingly.
Meanwhile, Y/n’s boyfriend remained silent on social media. No response. No clapback.
Because at that moment, Seungcheol had already won the battle without even trying.
The K-pop world is ablaze once again as Seungcheol's recent concert performance has sparked a fresh wave of controversy.
Leading outlets like Dispatch, AllKPop, and K-Buzz wasted no time covering the unexpected diss.
📢 Dispatch Headline: "Seungcheol's Savage Rap Sparks Speculation – Is Y/n's Boyfriend the Target?"

The viral moment had fans dissecting every line of the rap, with many convinced that the lyrics were aimed directly at Y/n’s boyfriend following his controversial Instagram post.
The reaction online was immediate:
One industry insider told Dispatch:
"Seungcheol is known for writing deeply personal lyrics, but this performance felt different. It was raw and deliberate—he knew exactly what he was doing."
Neither Seungcheol nor his agency released an official statement, but fans noticed that SEVENTEEN’s official social media accounts carefully avoided posting clips from that performance—further fueling the speculation.
💬 "He didn’t even name-drop, but we all know who he’s talking about."
💬 "Seungcheol said ‘stay in your lane’ and mic dropped. ICONIC."
💬 "If I were Y/n’s boyfriend, I would deactivate every social media app right now."
💬 "Seungcheol is fighting demons with a whole concert tour."
Meanwhile, Y/n’s boyfriend remained silent on the matter, with some fans calling his Instagram caption “the worst mistake of his life.”
As the drama unfolds, all eyes are now on Y/n, waiting to see if she will respond—or if she’ll continue to rise above the storm swirling around her.
After the chaos from Seungcheol’s viral rap performance, Y/n couldn’t stay silent any longer.
Furious over the public spectacle he made, she reached out to him directly—and it wasn’t a pleasant conversation.
The tension was thick the moment he answered.
“What the hell was that, Seungcheol?” Y/n snapped, skipping past pleasantries. “Did you really have to turn this into a public mess?”
Seungcheol sighed, already anticipating this reaction. “I didn’t mention anyone’s name.”
“Don’t play dumb!” Her voice was sharp with frustration. “You knew exactly what you were doing! You turned this into a damn spectacle, and now everyone is talking about it.”
Seungcheol, still heated from everything that had happened, scoffed. “Oh, but your boyfriend’s post wasn’t a spectacle? He went out of his way to take a shot at me, and I was just supposed to stay quiet?”
Y/n exhaled sharply, her patience wearing thin. “You don’t have to stoop to his level! Do you even realize what you’ve done? Fans are eating this up, and now it looks like some childish feud. And me? I’m stuck in the middle of it.”
Seungcheol was silent for a moment before he muttered, “He started it.”
Y/n let out a humorless laugh. “Oh, grow up, Seungcheol. This isn’t about winning or losing. This is my life you keep dragging into the spotlight.”
Her voice softened slightly, but the hurt was still there. “I just wanted to move on. Why couldn’t you let me?”
Seungcheol clenched his jaw, feeling the weight of her words. “Is that really what you wanted?” His voice was quieter now, raw with emotion.
Y/n hesitated for just a second. But she forced herself to stay firm. “Yes. And if you actually cared about me, you would have respected that.”
The call ended before Seungcheol could respond.
For the first time in a long time, he felt like he had truly lost her.
After their heated call, Seungcheol couldn’t shake the guilt gnawing at him. He knew he had hurt Y/n, and no words could undo the mess he had made.
So, instead of words, he chose actions.
Every single day, he sent her favorite flowers, carefully arranged and delivered without a note. He didn’t expect a response—he just wanted her to know that despite everything, he still cared.
At first, Y/n thought it was from a fan or maybe her company, but as the days passed, the steady arrival of fresh bouquets started to make her wonder.
Then, one evening, she finally acknowledged them—posting a picture of the flowers on her Instagram story.
🌸 "One of my fav things." 🌸
Fans immediately flooded the comments with love, but one particular comment caught her attention.
💬 "Minseong is so sweet for doing this!"
Y/n didn’t respond, assuming her boyfriend, Minseong, was the sender. But before she could even process it, a verified comment appeared below.
💬 Seungcheol: "They’re from me."
The internet exploded.
💥 Fans Lost Their Minds 💥
Y/n stared at the comment, her heart dropping into her stomach. She had unknowingly posted a gift from Seungcheol, and now the entire world knew.
💬 "OH MY GOD. SEUNGCHEOL, WHAT?!"
💬 "The audacity… but also… the romance??"
💬 "Minseong is getting secondhand embarrassment right now LMAO."
💬 "This man does NOT give up."
💬 "Y/n, girl, we need a response ASAP."
The moment Minseong saw the comment from Seungcheol, he was furious. His name was trending alongside Seungcheol’s, and fans were speculating about their relationship.
That night, he stormed into Y/n’s apartment, his jaw clenched, his voice laced with anger.
“Do you have any idea how humiliating this is for me?” he snapped, tossing his phone onto the table. “The whole internet thinks I’m some fool who’s been competing with your ex this entire time!”
Y/n, still overwhelmed by everything, took a deep breath. “Minseong, I didn’t know the flowers were from him. I thought—”
“You thought what?!” he cut her off, his voice rising. “That I’d waste my time doing some grand romantic gesture when I know you’re still stuck on him?”
Her eyes widened at his tone. “That’s not fair.”
Minseong let out a bitter laugh. “Fair? You’re the one making me look like an idiot while secretly holding onto the past.” He stepped closer, his presence suddenly suffocating. “You liked it, didn’t you? Knowing he’s still chasing after you?”
Y/n took a step back, her chest tightening. “I didn’t ask for this. I was moving on—with you.”
Minseong scoffed, running a frustrated hand through his hair. “No, Y/n. You weren’t. You were just pretending to.”
His words struck deep, but before she could respond, his hand slammed down onto the table, making her flinch. He didn’t hit her, but his anger was dangerously close to boiling over.
That was it. The final straw.
Y/n’s voice was firm, unwavering. “We’re done.”
Minseong froze. “What?”
She exhaled, steadying herself. “This isn’t love, Minseong. You don’t trust me. You don’t respect me. And I refuse to stay in something that makes me feel like this.”
His expression hardened, but he didn’t fight her decision. He knew he had lost. Without another word, he grabbed his things and left, slamming the door behind him.
The moment he was gone, Y/n finally let herself breathe.
It was over. For good.
Following the sudden news of Y/n and Minseong’s breakup, fans speculated about the reasons behind their split—especially after the viral Seungcheol flower incident.
To address the growing rumors, Y/n’s company released an official statement:

Fan Reactions
Late at night, Y/n’s phone buzzed with a message from a number she hadn’t seen pop up in a long time.
💬 "‘No involvement’?? Her ex-boyfriend literally humiliated her, and they’re acting like nothing happened??"
💬 "I just know Minseong is punching the air right now."
💬 "Seungcheol’s somewhere smirking."
💬 "Hope Y/n is okay. She deserves better."
💬 "They didn’t even deny the flowers were from Seungcheol. Interesting… 👀"
Seungcheol.
Seungcheol: Hey… How are you feeling? Seungcheol: I heard about everything. I just… I wanted to check on you.
Y/n stared at the screen, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. She knew she should ignore him. After everything that had happened, after all the chaos, it would be easier to just move on.
But a part of her—the part that still remembered how safe he once made her feel—couldn’t.
Y/n: I’m fine.
It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth either.
Seconds later, her phone started ringing. Seungcheol was calling.
She hesitated before answering. “What do you want, Seungcheol?”
His voice was gentle, laced with something softer than usual. “I wanted to hear your voice, baby.”
Y/n’s breath hitched. “Don’t call me that.”
He chuckled, but there was an undeniable sadness behind it. “I can’t help it. You’ll always be my baby.”
She closed her eyes, gripping the edge of her blanket. “You don’t get to say that anymore.”
Seungcheol sighed. “I know I messed up. I know I’ve made things worse instead of better. But I meant what I said… I’m not giving up on you.”
Y/n swallowed, her heart racing. “You can’t just decide that.”
“But I can decide to keep trying,” he countered, voice firm. “I let you go once. I’m not making that mistake again.”
Silence stretched between them. Y/n hated how her heart betrayed her in that moment, how it ached at the sound of his voice, how it longed to believe him.
“I don’t know if I can do this again, Seungcheol,” she whispered.
He exhaled, his voice softer this time. “Then let me show you that you can.”
The world was buzzing with excitement—both Seventeen and Y/n had been nominated for the Billboard Music Awards. Social media exploded with congratulations, and fans couldn’t stop talking about how fate kept bringing them back into the same spaces.
That night, Y/n was in her hotel room when her phone lit up. Seungcheol was calling.
She stared at the screen, debating whether to pick up. But a part of her already knew—she would always answer when it was him.
With a sigh, she swiped the call open. “What do you want now, Seungcheol?”
His deep chuckle came through the line. “Can’t I just call to congratulate my baby?”
She rolled her eyes, trying to ignore the way her heart skipped a beat. “I told you to stop calling me that.”
“I’ll stop when you stop running away from me,” he said smoothly.
Y/n’s breath caught in her throat. “I’m not running.”
Seungcheol scoffed. “Then tell me why every time I reach out, you push me away. Every time I try to come closer, you take another step back.”
She clenched her jaw, looking away as if he could see her through the phone. “Because it’s easier that way, Seungcheol. You and I… we always end up hurting each other.”
His voice softened. “Not always.”
“Enough times.”
A pause. Then, “And yet… here we are. Still picking up each other’s calls.”
Y/n closed her eyes. He wasn’t wrong. No matter how hard she tried to stay away, something kept pulling them back together.
“Just tell me one thing, baby.” His voice was quieter now, more vulnerable. “Is there still a part of you that wants me?”
Silence.
Y/n knew her answer. But she also knew that saying it out loud would mean stepping back into a storm she wasn’t sure she could handle.
So instead, she whispered, “Goodnight, Seungcheol.”
And then she hung up—leaving him with the silence that said everything he needed to know.
The stadium roared with cheers as Seventeen was announced as the winner. The members hugged, overwhelmed with emotions as they took the stage to accept their first-ever Billboard Music Award.
Backstage, the energy was electric. Staff members, fellow artists, and friends were congratulating them left and right. Amid the chaos, Y/n found them.
Dressed in a sleek black outfit, she approached with a small smile. “Congratulations, Guys.”
The members turned to her, pleasantly surprised. Seungkwan was the first to pull her into a hug, followed by Joshua and Hoshi. They had always been close to her, and despite everything that had happened, there was no awkwardness—only warmth.
Then, her eyes met Seungcheol’s.
He stepped forward, his expression unreadable. “You are here.”
Y/n smirked. “Wouldn’t miss it.”
The members exchanged knowing looks before slowly dispersing, giving them space.
Now alone in a quieter corner of the backstage area, Seungcheol studied her carefully.
“Thank you for coming,” he said softly.
She shrugged. “You worked hard for it. You deserved to win.”
Seungcheol took a step closer. “And do I deserve another chance?”
Y/n inhaled sharply. “Seungcheol—”
“Listen to me, baby,” he cut in gently. “I know I’ve messed up before. I know I let you go when I shouldn’t have. But I swear to you, I’ve never stopped loving you.”
Her heart pounded, but she kept her face neutral. “It’s not that simple.”
“I know,” he admitted. “But I also know you still feel something for me. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t.”
She opened her mouth to argue, but he was right, and they both knew it.
Seungcheol sighed and reached for her hand, his touch hesitant but warm. “One date. That’s all I’m asking. No pressure, no expectations. Just you and me, like old times.”
Y/n bit her lip, her walls threatening to crumble.
One date.
That was all.
What was the worst that could happen?
“…Fine,” she whispered.
Seungcheol’s face broke into a boyish grin, his dimples showing. “Really?”
She rolled her eyes. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. It’s just one date.”
He chuckled, squeezing her hand. “One date is all I need.”

💬 Seungcheol: [laughs shyly] “It was never even a question for me. I just knew she was the one, and I was willing to wait however long it took.”
2️⃣ How Did Seungcheol Propose?
💬 Seungcheol: “I was nervous. Like, really nervous. I had planned everything perfectly, but when the moment came, my hands were shaking.”
💬 Y/n: [laughs] “I noticed! He dropped the ring box at one point.”
💬 Seungcheol: “I wanted it to be special, but at the same time, I didn’t want some big public thing. So, I took her to the place where we had our very first date. Just the two of us. I told her everything I felt—why I loved her, why I’d never stop choosing her. And then I got down on one knee and asked.”
💬 Y/n: “And I said yes. Obviously.”
3️⃣ How Did the Seventeen Members Help?
💬 Seungcheol: [groans] “Oh my God. They were worse than me.”
💬 Y/n: “It was adorable, actually.”
💬 Seungcheol: “So, before I proposed, the guys decided they had to be involved. I thought they’d just help with the setup or something, but no… they insisted on singing ‘Marry Me’ by Jason Derulo while I was proposing.”
💬 Y/n: “I walked into the venue and suddenly all of Seventeen was standing there, singing with way too much passion.”
💬 Seungcheol: “Jeonghan was even pretending to wipe tears like he was my mother.”
💬 Y/n: [laughing] “It was so chaotic but also the sweetest thing ever.”
4️⃣ Why Did You Keep the Marriage a Secret for So Long?
💬 Y/n: “We really wanted to enjoy this moment for ourselves first. In this industry, so much of our lives is public, and we just wanted a little while where it was just us.”
5️⃣ How Did Seungcheol Win Y/n Over Again?
💬 Y/n: [teasingly] “He was persistent. Annoyingly so.”
💬 Seungcheol: “I sent her flowers every day, wrote her letters, checked in on her, reminded her of all the little things I remembered about her. I just wanted her to know that no matter how much time passed, my love for her never changed.”
💬 Y/n: “At first, I was so set on keeping my distance, but then one day… I realized I didn’t want to run anymore.”
💬 Seungcheol: “So, you admit I won?”
💬 Y/n: [laughs] “You never had to ‘win.’ You were already the one.”
6️⃣ Final Thoughts?
💬 Seungcheol: “I know our story has been crazy—lots of ups and downs. But I think that’s what makes it special. We grew, we changed, and we still found our way back to each other. And now… I get to call her my wife.”
💬 Y/n: “And I get to call him my husband.”
💬 Seungcheol: [grinning at her] “Best title I’ve ever had.”
As expected, social media exploded with love and admiration for the couple.
🔹 “This is literally a K-drama but real life.”
🔹 “Seventeen SINGING while he proposed? I need a documentary on this whole love story.”
🔹 “They were always meant to be. I’m so happy for them.”
With their love stronger than ever, Seungcheol and Y/n’s journey continues—but this time, as husband and wife.

My two cents on how much of Mind!Varric is Rook’s mind trying to fill the blank space and how much is Solas actively talking through a convenient blood magic paper doll of the mind: I think it's a mix of both, a truly collaborative psychosocial horrorshow if you would, but waaaay more towards the second. It feels too directed and tactical at times to be anything else. Rook's mind is willing to go along with the denial phase as far as it can fucking carry them to not have to face the grief and regret and does its part in papering over details that don’t make any sense, the way brains will strive to create coherent meaning even out of deeply confusing input, but to my understanding it's a collaborateur in how that plays out, not the instigator or control center. Solas is using it as a path to agency and to gather insight into Rook as a person unguarded as he can't count on in his own guise. (That stoic option that leads to him being like 'oh I see you're cautiously denying me access to your inner life. well. at least you still have Varric to talk to. y'know as an outlet :)'. You absolute BITCH Solas! That alone convinced me that he HAS to have an active hand in it on some level.)
My guess is that it takes considerable effort on Solas’ part to make Mind!Varric do anything more involved or complicated than seeming to sit up in bed and give casual commentary, and that’s why he keeps having eerie five minute shallow pep talks with you before he announces he conveniently needs a nap aaanyway good luck kid you got this haha. When he’s just spouting NPC lines from his bedrest, I’m ready to believe that could be Rook’s mind being allowed to improv lines for him more freely because it’s less about Solas trying to get something out of them or working an angle and more ‘Still here! Still totally alive and fine and the mentor figure you know and love and trust :) don’t even worry about it! Thankfully there is no war in Ba Sing Sei, as we all know’ upkeep work lol. Rook’s mind is allowed to set the tone of Varric, the outlines, but not always the content.
AND, on a (beautifully fucked up) character psychology level, I feel like Solas is indulging in actually getting to be the good supportive mentor figure to Rook with one hand to assuage the guilt he feels about what he's done -- and what he's going to do -- to them with the other. Same internal logic as he uses in Trespasser about the Qun. ‘Almost everyone is going to die from the course of action I’m doggedly pursuing eventually. But at least I can make their last years happier and freer and kinder than they would have been otherwise. and that kind of makes up for it right. a little bit. doesn't it. doesn't that make it better at least. I need that to make it better)'. Did I really take your beloved mentor and friend from you if you don’t know yet that I did? Some philosophers would argue not really! So it’s probably almost ok actually. Isn’t it even a little noble that I’m taking all this grief and guilt on myself and shielding you for now. With undertones that I’m not sure he would realize himself (and might be mortified by if he did) that he is so incredibly lonely, and even a dishonest and indirect emotional connection is more than nothing when you’re that desperate. In this setup he gets idk. Both the control he craves so incredibly badly in relationships and over himself, and the scraps, the fading afterimages, of intimacy and warmth and companionship, even second hand. The one thing Solas and Rook agree on deep deep down is that they really wish Varric weren't gone. They're handshake memeing this in the saddest and most creepy way possible.
I think an important element too is that Solas needs Rook and their team to *succeed* —  up to a certain point. He needs someone to hold the two other elven mean girls off until he can get out of here. Ideally, in a perfect world, even do all the hard work of killing them so he can swoop in at the end and do his thing when both sides are exhausted and out of resources to stop him, and then Bob’s your uncle! Same logic as he was using with Corypheus, and after that worked out so well, too! King of choosing to never learn from a single solitary mistake he’s ever made even though i fully believe he could have the capacity to Fen’Harel <3 The underlying idea isn’t flawed, you see, it was just unforeseen circumstances getting in the way. This time for sure it’ll all work out the way I cleverly imagined it in my head beforehand. Cue By Talos this can’t be happening etc. in the form of a statue almost crushing him like a bug.
So he's providing guidance and forging Rook into a leader from two angles: one Rook might not trust, and one they probably will. Shaping them into what he needs slowly and carefully. He’s helping you hone your team into their most effective state, as he might have done with his own agents back in the day, setting up his chess pieces even if he has to squint through two glimpsed realities to do it haha. Pincer maneuver of an insidious stealth mentor you never asked for. Also… at one point mind Varric gives you a whole little monologue about how Solas' problem is that he’s always seen his interpersonal connections as flaws and see where it’s landed him, all alone and the worst part? it hasn’t even worked. it’s all been for nothing he’s back where he began with nothing to show for it but his mistakes. Like...that has such strong 'uh okay happy to play your therapist from two rooms away here what the fuck kind of traumadump is this' energy to me, I’m not sure Rook like. Thinks that much about Solas as a private person. So much of Solas' self-loathing and futile insights into his own flaws seem to shine through in Mind!Varric's dialogue all the time — I just can't believe that there's no guiding hand behind it as it were.
Most of all. I feel like people underestimate the degree to which Solas is incredibly funny. As in, he has a very consistent and recognizable sense of humour. It’s one of my very favourite things about him. We must remember — it is crucial that we always keep in mind — Orlesian accent and wig Solas from May The Dread Wolf Take You (my beloved, the explanation for why I love this dude even with the. All of the everything else. No one does it quite like him). He is not at all above doing things or adding little flourishes for his own obscure amusement, in fact that seems to me to be one of his most consistent traits. The Randy Dowager Quarterly comment Varric has? The ‘Maybe this is the Dread Wolf’s revenge. Forcing us to house sit for him’ thing? To Me this is 100% Solas amusing himself in his boring Fade jail surrounded by the screaming hellscape of all his regrets. Source: it came to me as divine revelation through pure vibes trust me bro
If nothing else I find it much more narratively interesting personally if the connection between Rook and Solas really is that defenselessly intimate and entwined (and so unbalanced!), and the sense of violation and invasion and betrayal afterwards consequently all the more nauseatingly intense. Even if you kept him at arm’s length in the open, he’s been under your skin the whole time, looking around, gathering what he needs to destroy you, wearing the face of a friend. Regretfully, probably, but choosing to do it every step of the way anyway. (Sound familiar, Inquisitor? Solas doesn’t have that many tricks when you actually look at it, he keeps returning to old tried and true ones like a dog with a bone haha.) Maybe he even genuinely meant some of it as mercy, which only makes it so much worse. It makes his sin against his own core principles of autonomy and the freedom of all beings in mind, spirit and body so much more juicily grave if it’s something he pursues actively and consistently, rather than it half-falling into his lap as a happy accident mainly orchestrated by Rook’s own subconscious. Solas, too, is at his very lowest point, the closest to giving in and becoming his own antithesis fully that he’s ever been, and it makes the choice of whether you still reach out your hand to him one last time or not all the more impactful and difficult.

HEARTSHAPED CHOCOLATES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
☆彡 in which you gift jamil a valentine and things get complicated
jamil viper x gn!reader
word counter: 3.1K
warnings: reader is prefect, possible ooc, miscommunication (kinda), descriptions of servitude
a/n: i wrote this at 2AM but i think it's really cute. i’m definitely biased because jamil is my favorite and i do NOT have any valentines this year whatsoever 😭
i hope you enjoy!! :>
Tumblr media
Jamil wiped down the counter with a frustrated sigh. Kalim had, once again, gone behind his word and threw a last-minute party. One that Jamil had to do a majority of the work for. And now here he was, cleaning up after the incompetent boy.
Nothing he wasn't used to, but upsetting nonetheless. Though, he supposed that he’d be lying to himself if he claimed it was the only reason he felt bitter. His eyes flickered toward a calendar that hung on the kitchen wall of Scarabia.
Tomorrow, it’d officially be Valentine's Day.
Now, most NRC students were as single as could be for a variety of reasons— being a celebrity, focusing on grades, etc. Jamil fell under the category of being too busy. So many, much more important matters were always fighting for his attention. And a lot of them are related to Kalim in some way or form.
Being a destined servant to the Al Asim household wasn't an ideal situation. Plain and simple. Especially when it came to romantic relationships.
In middle school, young Jamil had a few girls he was interested in. However, all hopes of those crushes blooming into anything more died when they witnessed Jamil and his family bowing down to Kalim.
It's difficult to explain his role to his peers. Of course, the older he got the easier it became. But for most of his childhood, it was extremely embarrassing to have to say that he was to devote his life to serving the Al Asim family forever.
It was humiliating, giving leeway for others his age to look down on him. Now it wasn't just Kalim who he was lesser than. It was everyone. And it was hardly fair. Jamil was smarter than all of them combined.
He caught on to things quickly and was easily adaptable. When learning magic, his movement was calculated and precise. Yet, because of his last name, the respect he deserved was never given… Needless to say, he never pursued any more crushes.
By the time he was enrolled in NRC, romance no longer seemed plausible for his lifestyle. He wouldn't be able to devote so much time to another person other than Kalim anyway. That man-child can barely do anything on his own to save his life.
Jamil was convinced he’d spend the rest of his youth alone, only really finding a potential partner once he was free from the chains of servitude.
…And then you showed up at NRC.
You and your stupid soft eyes; that genuine empathy you carried on your sleeve. It's idiotic, really. You were bound to get taken advantage of in a school like this. Against his better judgment, Jamil felt drawn to you.
Despite being magicless and from a whole other world, you seemed to understand and empathize with his struggles better than those he had grown up with. And you weren't just all bark, no bite. You helped out a lot.
Many can just say that they feel sorry for Jamil, yet stand idly by as he served Kalim. You, however, saw him through his overblot. Instead of moving on, you forced him to communicate with Kalim about how he was feeling. It would've been so easy to fall back into the status quo, yet you stayed and improved his life for the better.
He’ll never quite get how one person could leave such a big impact.
You eased his worries about servitude. Being around you was naturally calming. It didn't feel like he had to babysit when he spent time with you. In fact, he felt as though he was learning new things— about both himself and others— every day with you.
The feeling scared him to his soul.
It was terrifying to be this addicted to another person’s presence. He wasn't used to having someone to look forward to: someone he wanted to be around all the time.
Jamil didn't know whether or not to pursue you. The last thing he wanted was to drag you into more of his messes… however, you seemed to frequently do that yourself, choosing to be involved for his sake. He was truly infatuated.
Despite it all, he refused to make a move.
You weren't from this world and all too soon he was sure you’d find a way back to where you were meant to be. It’d be selfish of him to pursue you, trapping you in a place you didn't belong. He knows the feeling of being trapped all too well after all.
There were no telltale signs you’d be interested in him back anyway. You were friendly with all and close to many. Who’s to say one of those fancy princes or endearingly dumb freshmen isn’t the one who’s captured your heart?
He purposely doesn't stand out, unlike some other students. Jamil assumed this put him at a natural disadvantage.
Assumed being the keyword.
Of course you, always breaking his expectations, had to crumble his thoughts by gifting him chocolates.
~
“Jamil?”
His eyes moved from his textbook to you in a second. He raised a brow as he watched you stare at him with an unrecognizable glint in your eyes. “Did you need help with something, Prefect?”
Those words made you perk up, grounding you back in reality. “No! No. I’m fine. Just…”
Clearing your throat, you put down your pencil. The homework in front of you was long forgotten as you focused your attention mainly on Jamil— much to his confusion.
“Do… Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?” You cautiously asked, looking at him intently.
He furrowed his brows at the question, thinking it over. “Kalim will most definitely want to throw a party for the occasion. I'll be in charge of the decorations, cooking, and— well, everything as per usual.”
Jamil answered truthfully, not seeing much of a reason not to. Yet, he felt like he answered wrong as his eyes met your deflated gaze.
“Got it… Yeah, that makes sense…”
Before he could invite you to the party— you’re one of the only people he’d happily cook for— you messily started scouring through your bag.
He observed you curiously, mentally noting that he should help you clean out your backpack sometime. I mean, the amount of loose papers you have in there is absurd—
“Here.”
His mind goes quiet as you pull out a small, heart-shaped box and slide it toward him. Jamil looks at you like you are crazy, making you chuckle.
“I was hoping to give it to you on Valentine's Day, if you're busy then, I’d rather do it now and save you the trouble.” How thoughtful of you… His shock was transparent as he struggled to form words.
You didn't know whether or not to take that positively or negatively.
“Uhh—” It was awkward, the air was tense as you swiftly stood up. You flashed him a nervous smile. “I should go check up on Grim… Good seeing you?”
Jamil had never felt more scatterbrained. So many thoughts racing at once. Yet so little came out of his mouth.
“Good seeing you too, Prefect.”
~
He never did invite you, did he?
Jamil sighs at his ridiculousness. In the back of his mind, he tried to justify it.
The party wouldn't be ideal for you to come to anyway, he’d be working the majority of the time. He doubts you’d enjoy yourself. It might be awkward for you to even come after that exchange.
However, deep down, he knew he should've said something. Anything. Instead, he just let you leave with unsure thoughts.
Jamil didn't want to leave this be. He wanted to make it right. But with so little time, he was stuck.
~
Valentines arrived unreasonably fast, causing him to frown. The students of Scarabia could sense something was wrong, but no one had the guts. Well, no one except…
“Jamil? Are you mad?” Kalim innocently asked.
Although you made Jamil talk out a lot of his issues with Kalim, the white-haired boy’s voice still irked him to his soul.
“No. What makes you say that?” The Viper responded, keeping his tone neutral and calm.
Nonetheless, Kalim squinted at him with a pout.
“Is this about the Prefect?”
He nearly choked on his spit. “Excuse me?”
“Well, you guys like each other, right? Did you fight over something? Aww, I’m sorry if an argument broke out right before Valentine's.”
Jamil shook his head with an annoyed scoff, giving Kalim an unamused look.
“No, what—? Rewind. What makes you think we like each other?”
Kalim tilted his head like a lost puppy. It only served to frustrate Jamil further.
“Is it not obvious? You’re way happier around them than anyone else!”
Not that anyone pointed it out, but Jamil would undoubtedly deny the way his cheeks heated up at that statement.
“We’re not seeing each other romantically. Neither do we think of one another that way…”
He regretted letting his sentence trail and thinking aloud. Whenever it came to you, he was much less organized than he liked.
“…Well, sort of.” Although he merely mumbled these three words, that was all it took for Kalim to spring up ecstatically.
“Oh! So you like them but you haven't confessed? You can do it at today's party! I’ll invite them right now!” “What! No— Kalim, slow down!”
Jamil had to physically grab the other hot by his shoulders to keep him from bouncing away.
“I'm not ‘confessing’ at this party today, or any time soon.”
That lost puppy looked returned to Kalim’s face. Although he had seen it a few minutes ago, it still pissed him off all the same.
“Why not?”
Because he didn't know how to; plain and simple. Jamil for sure didn't want to have his ‘confession’ be too big. He’d hate for himself to come off as ingenuine to you.
Not to mention, Kalim and his antics have more or less ruined any big, dramatic gestures for him. Jamil can't help but find them corny and tacky now.
However, he didn't want to do something too small. A simple note won’t cut it for him. You deserve more. What exactly that entailed, he didn't know.
“Because I don’t want to.” Jamil unenthusiastically answered. He cut off Kalim before he could speak up. “No more questions.”
Not wanting to entertain this conversation any longer, Jamil walked away. Right. He had other, more pressing matters to worry about. Party preparations.
Food, decorations, music, lighting…
Damn it, why won’t you leave his mind?
~
The party, thankfully, went smoothly. Guests were enjoying themselves, there was enough food for everyone, and Kalim was too distracted by a few people to bother him. Letting out a relieved sigh, Jamil leaned against the wall behind him. His eyes wandered around as he started people-watching.
It was important to stay alert when it came to the people at these parties. He had to make sure no one had harmful intentions towards the young Al Asim. Though, as he should've expected, there were many couples here tonight.
Seems like a lot of Scarabian students brought their off-campus lovers here. Jamil can only hope Crowley doesn't chastise them too harshly for doing so.
He perks up as a slow song plays over the party. The lights are adjusted to dim and soon enough, practically everyone was on the dance floor. Couples, friends, strangers, talking stages— you name it.
It’s no surprise Jamil seemed drawn to the dance aspect of this part of the night. Even if he tried to hide it at times, his passion for the art of dancing always had its way of shining through. He glanced through the crowd to see if there was anyone without a partner.
Thankfully for him, it wasn't too hard to spot someone. These types of parties were always bound to have a few wallflowers. As he made his way through the crowd toward the one he had his eye on, he couldn't help but hear a couple of voices over the music.
“Ace, you little—!” That was all Jamil could make out before he felt a person suddenly collide with him. It didn't hurt or anything, and Jamil had enough sense to gauge it was most likely a mistake—
“Uh, hi.”
He didn't expect to turn around and be met with the sight of you. An embarrassed look sat upon your face as you fidgeted with the ends of your clothes.
“Hey.” Jamil curtly replied.
You gave him that stupid little smile of yours that made his heart race. A hopeful hum left your lips.
“Are you busy?”
He couldn't help but chuckle in response, giving his genuine answer.
“Nope.” He stuck his hand out, pretending that his mind wasn't going fuzzy from being in your presence. “May I have this dance?”
He felt you place your hand on top of his.
“Of course.”
With your permission, he let one hand fall to your waist as he gently guided you in a waltz-like manner. He was more experienced than you, precisely moving as the two of you dance.
You couldn't help but feel endeared. Jamil was pretty from close up. Unfortunately— or fortunately— he caught you staring. He gave you an amused look in response.
However, he didn't expect you to abruptly frown and glance away.
‘You couldn't get your hopes up,’ Your mind reminded you, recalling his reaction to your gift. It was for the better you don't get too attached.
Jamil seemed disheartened by the disconnect. His hand on your waist lightly tightened. Shortly after, a mischievous grin found its way on his face.
Suddenly, Jamil’s movement quickened. You gave him a confused raise of the brow.
“Jamil—?”
He doesn't give you time to finish your thought as he spins you, swiftly catching you in his arms afterward. Taken by surprise, you can’t help the laugh that escapes you.
You've never seen Jamil look more proud of himself as he gave you that smug little smile of his. He barely gave you time to react before he was moving the two of you again.
What you didn't expect was for him to dip you so, so low. Instinctively, you squealed. Your arms clung onto him for dear life.
“Jamil—!”
He let out a laugh at your reaction. “What? It's not like I’m going to drop you or anything.”
Your grip tightened after hearing those words. “Great sevens— you better not drop me!”
He playfully rolled his eyes. Jamil leaned in closer, his voice taking a lower tone as he whispered, “You trust me, Prefect, don’t you?”
You didn't respond to that, instead letting your small glance to the side paired with an embarrassed expression speak for itself.
In the next few steps, he taught you some more advanced footwork. He couldn't help but admire the way you’d smile as you caught onto it quickly. Jamil then spun you once more, this time it was less abrupt.
Prepared, you were able to smoothly go along with it. The boy let out an impressed hum, giving you a satisfied look. His eyes practically told you what he had planned next. Another dip.
The dip was more nerve-wracking than the spin. However, Jamil didn't intend to dip you as low as he did before— thankfully.
Your hold on him still tightened like it did before as he dipped you. Unlike before, Jamil let the pose and moment linger.
You’d gaze up at him, admiring the determined glint in his eyes. The way his hair naturally fell, framing his face, was just the cherry on top.
Oh, and how could you forget those breathtaking lips of his...
His thoughts were eerily similar to yours, taking in your features before letting his eyes roam over your lips. Jamil leaned closer, bringing his face mere inches from yours.
You swung your arms around his neck, making it easier for him to get closer… and closer… and…
Just as the two of you closed your eyes, about to connect, you hear the slow music turn to an upbeat, party song. Next thing you know, you felt your body swiftly being pulled up.
One moment, you and Jamil were so close, the next he was acting as though you were toxic. His hands left your hips as he cleared his throat.
It looked like he was planning on saying something before a familiar voice cut through the crowd.
“Jamil! Come dance with me!” The two of you both heard the young Al Asim shout.
You frowned. Right. He’s busy tonight with duties and whatnot. Although you felt disappointed, you gave him a tired smile and nod.
Jamil’s brows were furrowed, his eyes flickering between you and the direction Kalim’s voice came from.
Tonight seemed full of surprises as Jamil’d hand shoots out to your forearm and hurriedly guided you outside in the opposite direction of Kalim.
You were in shock as he pulled you outside, shutting the door behind him with a sigh.
“…You’re not gonna—?” “If anyone asks, you were nauseous from dancing and went outside with me for fresh air.”
Jamil was dead serious as he spoke, looking at you for confirmation. You nodded your head.
“Uh, got it.”
Silence soon filled the atmosphere between the two of you, the only sound being from the night’s wind. It was oddly tense. You were the first one to break the quiet.
“I’m sorry.” Jamil’s gaze immediately snapped up to yours, narrowing in confusion.
“Sorry?” He repeated, looking for clarification.
You fidgeted with the ends of your clothes. “Sorry for the chocolates. That was probably uncomfortable for you since that kinda gift is usually reserved for couples and all…”
Jamil’s expression softened the more you talked.
“Don’t be. It was a lovely gift.” His hands slowly make their way to yours, gently holding you.
“I reacted the way I did because…” Jamil sucked in a hesitant breath. “…Well, you’ve made me feel things. Feelings that I thought I was incapable of feeling.”
He carefully pulled you closer to him, allowing you to back away if you wanted to. You didn't. You just stared back into his gaze as he continued.
“Around you, I feel unburdened by my responsibilities. I feel… alive.” If you maneuvered your hand right, you could feel his pulse practically beating out of his body.
“I adore you like no other. When I received those chocolates, my mind melted. You… you turn me into such a mess.” He lightly scoffed with a small shake of the head. You can't help but chuckle.
“Nonetheless,” He gave your hands a gentle squeeze. You squeezed back.
“I’d never wish this feeling away. Never in a million years.”
Jamil’s hands momentarily left yours as he fiddled with his jacket. He was looking for something…?
“Although it’s long overdue,”
After a few moments, Jamil pulls out a small, red rose. You recognize it as a part of the decor from the party. He slips it into your hand effortlessly, his eyes staying on yours.
“Will you be my Valentine?”

Chapter 1
『For we're all that we need』
Disparities Between Our Souls
You were enjoying a peaceful lunch with your husband when you two were transported into your home-universe that you hadn't been in since 5 years ago
Disclaimer: This chapter focuses on Miguel and Reader, Batfam is only implied/mentioned. They will appear next chapter
Prologue <- Chapter 1 -> Chapter 2

The halls of the Spider HQ were big, never failing to amaze you. The abundant amount of spidermen had surprised you when you first woke up here and to find out you were one yourself was even more of a shock.
Never in your life would you have expected to be transported into another world and become some sort of mutant, but you definitely wouldn’t change it. Especially now as you swing to your dear husband’s office.
Miguel O’hara, the leader and founder of the Spider HQ and also the one who chased after a 16 year-old boy. Yep, that was (un)fortunately your man. Thankfully that whole fiasco was over before you even arrived. From what you heard, he eventually ended up realising and coming to terms that canon events weren’t so canon and they could be altered, depending on the universe.
But enough of that. You were here today, swinging around the HQ to deliver your husband some food because you knew he would be busy taking care of the spiderverse—or as he likes to call it, ‘The Arachno-Humanoid Poly Multiverse’— to take care of himself.
With a plate of food in your hands, you swung up to the platform he was on.
“Darling, I have some food for you. Take a break and eat with me?” You asked him.
“Mi corazón, I’m busy, you know this.” He stated, almost groaning but in a teasing way.
“Miguel.” You stood your ground and watched him as he sighed, moving closer to you and pulling the screens closer. Fine, you could compromise with this, as long as he ate. “How have you been, dear? Need any help dealing with the anomalies?”
“No, not now at least. For now, they’ve mostly been in low numbers and the new recruits are usually able to deal with them themselves.”
“Alright then. Any leads as to why they’re still appearing though?”
“Still none. I would’ve hoped that they’d had disappeared when Morales was finally dealt with but they’re still ongoing. Lyla’s theorising something else it at play here and I fear she could be right.”
You stayed quiet, deep in thought. These anomalies were off, something about them had given you the wrong feeling, especially when you were on-field fighting them. You had mentioned it before to Miguel, but you both chalked it up to the fact that in technicality, you were also an anomaly, a similar but also vastly different case to Miles Morales.
“Do you think I’m related to the anomalies in some way?” You blurt out.
“As much as I hate to admit it, it’s most likely.” Your brows furrowed in concern. This further complicated the matter at hand. Being an anomaly yourself meant you were already connected to the others in some way, but if there was any chance that this relationship between you and the anomalies was any deeper, danger was most certainly waiting just around the corner. You two spent the next few moment in silence, slowly processing that possibility.
“Well enough of that. I came here so that you would finally eat, so take some.” You nudged a roll of pandesal towards him, alongside a cup of coffee. You had your own right pair next to you, standing on a makeshift table made of webs.
He sighed before muttering a small thank you under his breath and the smallest smile on his face. Well, you’d take what you could get. You both enjoyed your food and drink in silence as you sat on the ledge of the platform and Miguel continued working. It was a comfortable quiet, unspoken words of love were understood and picked up by the both of you. A small respite in both of your usually chaotic lives.
But as luck would have it, this peace did not last long. You didn’t even have time to finish your food when a portal opened up in front of the platform. You stood up quickly, stance in a fighting position, Miguel also suddenly on alert, his arm in front of you in a protective manner.
Portals were a normal thing for the both of you, an everyday use even. Yet, this was weird. No portal had ever opened up in this room. Most respected the privacy of their leader and always opened the portals outside of his office. That wasn’t even the most off-putting thing. This portal was different, the shapes and colours were all wrong, all different from the ones spawned from the gizmos on your wrists. Yet, it seemed familiar to you. Like you saw it once and then stored it at the back of your mind to forget about it. That couldn’t have been right though, any portals you’ve seen are the ones made by the watch.
You didn’t have time to worry about this though. Danger could be come out of that opening at any moment and you needed to be ready. But danger would not come to you. No. It would pull you into it instead. Quite literally when both you and your husband were tugged into the portal.
The journey through the portal was short, but most certainly not smooth. With being pulled in unexpectedly and the inside itself feeling like it was tossing you around, the landing was rough. It felt like you were picked up and were thrown away carelessly with indifference.
Miguel regained to his feet before you and held out a hand for you to help you stand up. As you oriented to your surroundings, you could feel your blood go cold. The sky was dark, vastly different from the midday sky that you were previously in. Even though it was night, stars didn’t light up the night sky, instead smog filled the skylines. Buildings stood tall, reaching for the sky but always too short. The streets were quiet, like a the silence of a forest when a predator is near. The rain dripping onto your head was the final confirmation.
You were in Gotham.
You were back in the city you grew up in. The city that raised you to be the person you are now. The city you had so many conflicting emotions about. You were not ready for this confrontation. In fact, you might never be.
So, like the coward you were, you quickly pulled your mask back to cover your face and turned to Miguel. He quickly takes the hint and puts his on as well.
“We have to get home. We can’t stay here.” You fiddle with your gizmo, attempting to open a portal back up to the HQ, but nothing. Miguel looked at your struggle and tried to get his own to work as well but it was a futile attempt. Nothing seemed wrong with the gizmos, except for the fact the no portal was opening up. You hoped that everything else was working fine.

Miguel had no knowledge of this strange world. All he knew was that you didn’t want either of you to stay here, and who was he to doubt your words? The situation was alright at first. Yes, it was suspicious that you two were dropped off here by some unknown entity, but there seemed to be no immediate danger and you two could easily open a portal back to the HQ.
At least he thought so.
But when both of your gizmos failed, he could feel worry start seeping in. No, this is fine, he could fix the gizmo. He didn’t have any tools though. What was even wrong with it? It had been working perfectly fine before you were dropped into this foreign universe.
He could see you pacing back and forth on the rooftop you two were on. Although he couldn’t see your face, he knew there was a frown etched onto our face.
“Mi corazón.” He called for you, but you were still in your trance. “Corazón.” He called out a little louder, and still nothing. He quickly gave up on words and walked over to you, softly grabbing your hand to pull you out.
“What?” You snap at him before regretting it almost instantly. You take a big breath and try to calm yourself down. “I’m sorry, I’m just stressed.”
“It’s alright mi vida. Can you tell me what’s got you so worried and where we are?” He spoke to you softly. You take another breath, mentally preparing yourself for the conversation you were about to have.
“We’re in my home universe.”
“Ah.” That was all he needed to know. He had heard enough of your ramblings about your old life to know why you were reacting this way.
“Why isn’t the gizmo working?” You ask, point-blank.
“I’m not sure. Maybe there’s something about this universe that’s stopping us from being able to communicate with the others. I attempted to get in contact with other spidermen but no response.” The Spider HQ must be a mess right now, with the sudden disappearance of their leader. He hoped you two could quickly make it back home or else you two would be coming back to chaos.
You opened your mouth to say something but were interrupted when you felt your spider senses tingling. You could see Miguel’s signature scowl form on his face, it seemed he could hear the danger you were sensing.
You both take a look around at your surroundings, and not too far off into the distance you see a Doc Ock terrorising the poor citizens of Gotham.
No, that wasn’t right. Your universe shouldn’t have a Doc Ock, hell you didn’t have any of the standard spidey villains. There was only one reason for this
An anomaly was in your universe.
Farther into the distance, you could see the bat sign light up the night sky. Shit. You needed to hurry before your family could get to this. You and Miguel looked at each other and nodded. A silent agreement to continue the conversation later and also take this anomaly down as soon as possible.

Another chapter done, yippee! I'm sorry this is focusing more on Reader and Miguel, but I needed to introduce some plot points and it ended up being too long for the batfam to make an appearance
As said in a previous post, I don't speak Spanish, so if those nicknames are cringe or something then please do tell me how to improve it and I will gladly change it
Anyways this has been another busy week. I finished my prepL, took my license photo, started watching the bayverse transformers movies and prepared for the start of the school year on Tues
Speaking of school, I have no idea if that will affect my upload schedule but it most likely won't until a few weeks in.
As per usual, you are free to point out any mistakes. I don't edit my work cuz my ADHD won't allow me to and I don't have a beta reader so I am bound to have some mistakes here and there
Fun fact, my titles (except for the story title) come from songs. The Prologue came from Never Love An Anchor by The Crane Wives and this chapter's came from Abandon Ship by Fin. I recommend you listen to them, they're so good!
Have a great day everyone <3
