It just hurts because I wish you would’ve tried harder. Ik I was the one who broke up with you but damn, you just let me walk out the door, you wouldn’t even look me in the eye. I left because you never thought I would and you were just so comfortable doing the bare minimum. Maybe because you didn’t have the money, or you didn’t have the effort but all I know is I wanted flowers that I didn’t ask for. It’s me secretly ( well not a secret anymore) hoping you’d go all out for valentines and profess your love for me. But ik that’s just not the case, the day will come and go and I’ll be wondering what you’re doing just like you’ll be wondering the same as me.

Maybe in the beginning it was love bombing but damn I wish I could go back to it. The dates, the notes, the flowers and gifts. The random paragraphs of I love you’s and I met you in a past life. The sweet kisses and wanting to be around so much we shower together. Changing my oil every 3 months on the don’t cleaning my car, taking care of my mom, rubbing my stomach because it hurt so much and baking me cookies, reassurance. So where did it all go?

But then I think of what else filled the years. Arguing constant bickering, putting my hands on you and you….The embarrassment, the harassment, the tears, the “I’m sorries” and the sex that came after. The many “I’m done with this”, and “fuck you niggas”, the night in Mexico a day after my birthday when I was a bitch for not wanting to drink anymore.

I almost brought life into the world for you…2 years and it came out to nothing. If I take you back again what does that say of me ? That I have no self worth? That im a fool for love? That I feel like I don’t deserve better? Or are you the one and you just need time to grow like me. I wouldn’t mind spending eternity with you, just after you’ve learned a few more lessons in life.

Falling in love with God as His metaphorical bride went like this:

The first encounter was incredible I felt amazing, then ever since there’s been ups and downs in my life but I always have this deep set joy even when I’m sad bc I feel secure in Him bc He’s never let me down, or not brought me out of any tough sitch - and often experience that initial wonder in a million Little wonderful moments each day. And I wouldn’t go back in time to that initial moment bc these ones are great too it’s all great. I love God, not the initial moment or the feeling I had.

So maybe falling in love with a man is like that? I was asking God and here’s my answer typed live.
