today’s whump prompt for writers:
whumpee suffers blunt force trauma to the head and has a part or half of their head shaved during the procedure of saving their life, thus the pitch black stitches from where they were hit and were then patched back up are painfully visible, and every time caretaker looks at those stitches, they are reminded of what whumpee went through. and caretaker can’t let it show on their face how disturbing the sight was to them, otherwise whumpee might think caretaker is disgusted by them now (when that is not the cast).
bonus because whumpee’s (partly) shaved head and their stitches can be a constant reminder of their trauma, what whumper did to them, and also the now shaved head (even if their head was shaved by a nurse, not by whumper, in order to prep them for the surgery/in order to best treat their wound) can be a symbol of dehumanization, depends on the context and the vibes and how whumpee feels about their situation.
another bonus if they suffer concussion, too.
chef’s kiss.

What do you think of good Belos au's / au's where he's not a complete piece of garbage?
I like them!
There are a few that I like, such as “Humanity and Its Consequences,” which is an AU where Philip and Luz swap places with each other. A few other fics I like are “Reasoning With Crazy,” “Blunt Force Trauma” (Philip gets hit on the head with a collapsing ceiling and ends up believing the backstory he made up to be Belos is real), and (naturally) “Was Not The Hero.”
Some AUs you can find here on tumblr that I’m fond of are The Bone of Ortet AU, the Twin Rulers AU, the AROFAM AU.
I love the way these different works illustrate the various aspects of Philip’s personality and show his growth and/or descent as time goes on. They’re interesting and well thought out. If that’s your cup of tea, I’d really suggest you give them a look!

hello! i'd like to ask what would happen if someone were to be hit in the side of their neck with incredible force, from a blunt object? The kind of force to even knock them off their feet for a moment. What would happen to the neck, how would it heal, would there be a lasting hoarseness? thank you sm!
Gonna answer these in slightly reverse order:
Healing is going to depend a lot on the mechanism of injury and the exact damage caused, which you should hopefully be able to determine based on the following points:
If the impact is on the side of the neck, I can't imagine hoarseness being at all relevant unless the character wound up intubated afterwards. The windpipe is in the very front of the throat, and any impact to it that would knock someone off their feet would likely crush it, which is BAD NEWS. (From the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia: The damage can range from minor vocal cord weakness to fractures of the cartilage structures of the larynx or trachea. These fractures can cause air to escape into the neck and chest, leading to significant respiratory compromise and even death if not diagnosed and treated quickly.)
Even with a (relatively) blunt object, like the leg of a chair, an impact of that velocity could potentially break skin and a whole lot more. It depends how broad the area of impact is, be it something narrow like a pipe wrench, or broad like a two-liter bottle. The more the impact is spread out, the less likely it is to break skin (which is the whole reason a bed of nails works), but of course you're going to get trauma to the area of impact either way, bruising and potentially damage to the underlying tissue and muscle.
There are a lot of MAJOR nerves and blood vessels in the neck, near the surface, too (hence why it's a spot you can take someone's pulse). I can't honestly imagine an impact of that force not damaging something. Which brings me to
You're breaking this motherfucker's neck. Whether the spinal cord is damaged is up to you, but you're almost unquestionably breaking vertebrae if you're hitting somebody in the neck hard enough to take them off their feet.
Most importantly, though, you have to remember what the neck is attached to, and what it's made to support: the head.
6. This person is getting a concussion. A hit to the neck that knocks you over will shake, rattle, and roll your brain like nobody's business.
More about spinal injuries here and here.
More about concussions here.
I hope this answered your question(s)!

OK, imagine this scenario; the whumpee loses control of their powers, essentially having a berserk conscious blackout, unaware of anything around them. The whumpee's blasting powerful magic out trying to hit anything around them, eventually the magic fades, and the whumpee's weakened by it; burns and wounds covering their body as they teetered between conscious and unconscious, the wooziness coming in tenfold.
*CRACK*
The whumpee feels a blinding white hot pain shoot through their head as they felt their body leave the ground, they slammed against an object before falling unconscious.
The caretaker saw one of their allies hit the nearly unconscious whumpee with their weapon(an oversized blunt object like, a warhammer or a giant mallet), chastising ally A for doing that when the whumpee had already calmed down.
The caretaker picked up the unconscious whumpee, carrying them to another area where they'd tend to the whumpee's injuries before letting them rest in a bed.

Whumptober No. 13: Cold Compress | “I don’t feel so good."
TW: blunt force trauma, loose teeth, blood, swelling, broken nose, carewhumper
"I don't feel so good," Whumpee mumbled, bringing a hand to their cheek.
Whumper grabbed their face, examining the source of their discomfort. They were much gentler than usual, something Whumpee was very grateful for.
"You don't look so good." Whumper tilted their head. "I didn't know hitting your head on the table would make your face swell up so much. I was only trying to break your nose."
Whumpee wasn't sure whether this was meant to be comforting or not. But they were sure that it was in their best interest to shut the fuck up. Hopefully Whumper was in a good mood.
"Honestly-" Whumper slowly shook their head "-you should be more careful."
"I'm sorry," Whumpee said, trying valiantly not to press their bloody tongue against the teeth Whumper had knocked loose. "I'll do better. I promise."
Whumper fished an ice pack out of their freezer and pressed it to Whumpee's cheek. It was horribly cold, but Whumpee forced themself to hold still, knowing that using the ice pack and not pissing off Whumper would both be good for their health.

So general battery and general blunt force trauma (via telekenesis but still) what kind of injuries from that might send you to a more extended hospital stay?
Blunt force trauma may not penetrate but it can still cause concussions, crush injuries, broken bones, torn ligaments, severe bruising, organ damage and internal bleeding.

A hot kettle has a lot of whump potential I think
-Heated metal to press to the whumpee's skin
-Scalding water to pour on the whumpee
-Steam burns
-Heats up slowly, lots of time for a whumpee to think about what's going to happen (can also be used to test a whumpee by instructing them to keep their hand on/over it)
-They can be rather hefty, while it probably shouldn't be used as a bludgeon it would work if someone's desperate, probably hurting both parties in the process
-Would leave stinging, itchy burns for a whumpee to cope with for a while, maybe burn scars as well
-They're everyday objects, that'd be a lot to contend with for a whumpee that associates them with torture
-Even without a whumper, there's a lot of opportunity for a whumpee to get hurt by one on their own-- accidents happen, after all

I hope you enjoy ^^ this is all I got so far but for now imma call it good until i can really figure out the background, etc
