This might be a long shot but there was this book I read as a kid, sometime late 90s-early 2000s...
There was some guide character that came from a secret world to meet two kids and he was kinda Mary Poppins vibe with them - encouraged them to look up and around at the world instead of down at their feet when they walked, had whimsical takes on regular stuff. He takes them back to his world and its the most fantastical place. The river is the color of gold. That's about all I remember. I think the guide had a bird-like appearance at certain times. I really thought this book was going to show up again but its been two decades of me wondering without knowing.
Please help if this sounds vaguely familiar at all! Even if it doesn't ring a bell, please reblog so I can maybe reread this book sometime soon!

just saw someone say Rick Riordan making a TV show is just as bad as anything JKR has done. BFFR you're comparing Rick Riordan trying to make his world more inclusive, changing some parts because of money/time constraints, or just making changes cus he thinks they're needed, to JKR being a terrible person!

Cass' confusion the first time she punches a meta and they are unaffected is so fucking cute. She has no idea what's going on.
Bruce takes so many L's in Cass' batgirl run for his behavior but him immediately jumping in and getting overprotective once he realizes Cass is facing something new is precious. Especially since he was threatening people with her all of one panel before this.
From Batgirl (2000) Issue 3.

sometimes the ghost of kelley puckett (he is still alive) haunts me. does he know. does he even know. he’s so detached from the comics community and he’s such a private guy (I RESPECT THAT WHOLEHEARTEDLY) that i really and truly do not know if this man knows how much cassandra cain means to us. does he know batgirl 2000 is heralded as the bible of dc solo books, as a lot of people’s favorite comic ever written. does he know how much we love cass. how we write essays over her character and how amazing she is and how she changed our lives. does he know how adored his writing is. does he know he wrote the best comics character introduction of all time. does he even. know.

The Extremely Serious and Scientific Legolas Fandom Hair Colour Poll:
What colour hair do you picture in your head for your personal mental image of Legolas of the Woodland Realm? (Not necessarily which one you think is more or less "canonical"; rather just what you see in your head when you're reading something.)
Ideally, you can also share when and how you were first exposed to Lord of the Rings in the tags or reblogs, and what you think most influenced your mental image.
No I'm not procrastinating from writing stuff, go away.

thinking about the 'load-bearing event' post and how nearly the entire post-1990s Bat mythos rests on No Man's Land happening, and it getting punted out of canon when the reboot happened irreparably fucked over both the "Batfamily" as a concept and multiple character dynamics until Death Metal/Infinite Frontier re-canonized it last year

2017 version of the little vampire was really boring but i enjoyed these two scenes, at least. yes those are direct redraws, the first scene really went like this, and they still had the gall to say those boys aren’t gay. sure...
do not erase the caption, use or rePOST my art (reblog ok)

"Talia can never be redeemed and her romance with Bruce can never come back because *falls for Grant Morrison's/DC's extreme racism towards asian and arab characters in the 2000s/2010s"
Yeah, sorry, but shut the hell up. It never fails to astound me when DC actually tries to fix the mistakes they made with Talia/the al Ghuls in general these last two decades and the fans manage to be even worse than DC by clinging to the blatant racist/sexist writing of the past instead of embracing the turn for the better.
"But she did this and that!"
She's a fictional character in a fictional universe that is aware that it goes through continuity changes/retcons. What Grant Morrison did to her character was a a complete retcon of her 30 year history and characterization with zero respect for her. Why am I supposed to take Morrison's bullshit as gospel and reject any attempts to fix her from writers who know better?

One of my coolest lifts to date! I was so proud that day. Haul from last month.
EVERYTHING pictured/in the frame was lifted within 2 hours including the stacks of coloring books.
I am way too lazy to add up the total on this one, but it’s definitely …
Around <$3k~

tbh it sucks so much we're limited by language barriers and other stuff. there are so many things and themes i'd like to mention, but only a bunch of people will understand. if a classic is written in a language different from english it's a hassle to get people from other counties to read it. sometimes it's translated without a care, sloppily, from a language that wasn't even the original one. sometimes it isn't even translated at all, left in obscurity

does ice read architectural digest to keep up w home decor trends or are they solely somewhere between coastal gradparents house and mediterranean style home w leather accents
okay. yes. when they first move in together their house is frat-house-ugly-bad. They don’t want to think about it too much. interior decoration is Incriminating when you’re not supposed to be living together. It’s hand-me-down furniture with scuff marks and stains and no sense of interior design or organization etc. After the whole rooster-papers-pulling-divorce fiasco they (mostly ice) basically start throwing money at it in the hopes that it will help heal their relationship so that’s when it actually starts to look nice & like an actual house that people live in and not just their chaotic secret escape-from-reality house
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all of this couched by my own personal opinion that it was a mistake of the highest narrative order to have them buy a house together and everything ive written about it is just an attempt to try to fix/explain that original mistake (as I write about on this blog All the Time)
but late-40s early-50s ice is somewhat clued in to interior design trends yes. think midcentury modern and a Lot of chrome everywhere because they are middle-aged white guys. or, shit, his canonical interior decorating sense, that’s what the house is supposed to look like! It’s supposed to be the TGM house lol. so like dark woods and bookshelves and big windows etc. HOWEVER. this is just a hc that i cant in any good conscience actually work into any type of narrative, but: they’re, like, really into aviation themed decor. like, really really. it allows them to be into the girlycoded hobby of interior decorating because it’s interior decoration about a manlycoded lifestyle. like if you look on etsy for aviation decor…

ice & mav have it all. i am so serious about this.

Movie Hoopa: The reason for these "intruders" was me! Hee hee! Were you surprised?
Tumblr media
"No, no. Don't think you can just come in here and ruin my fun." The Hoopa shook their head in disapproval. "This is a Journey ONLY space, which means I'm supposed to be the most annoying thing in it, NOT YOU. I don't need competition, Soooo!" They quickly began to materialize one of their portal rings above the unwelcome guest.
Tumblr media
Journey gleefully smiled as they closed their portal, "No more yooou~ Have fun in that feral universe! I'm sure the Yungoos there would love to try deity flesh, I heard It's reallly tasty!"
→ Seems Journey disapproves of other unwelcomed Hoopas invading their space... Jealousy, perhaps?
