Kunikida: So you’re Motojirou Kajii. The man behind the infamous Laughing Lemon incident.

Kajii: I see my reputation proceeds me. But I can’t say I thought a member of the Agency would be interested in my work.

Kunikida: Its hard not to be. I can’t say that I condone your methods on innocents. But I can appreciate a well timed explosive against my enemies.

Kunikida: On that, I had some questions if you wouldn’t mind answering.

Kajii: Oh? What for?

Kunikida: The Agencies armoury is quite well stocked but more often then not I create my own weaponry.

Kunikida: Guns are easy but the explosives are proving quite difficult. I could use your expertise in improving the designs.

Kajii, grins: Oh you and I are gonna have fun detective.

Ranpo:…I have a bad feeling.

If we're ever told what exactly the Laughing Lemon Incident was I hope its the story of how Kajii joined the mafia and it ends Kajii having been arrested by the police and Mori is like "Thank God that is over and we don't have to deal with his insanity anymore." He has no intention of recruiting him because Mori honestly has no idea how he'd get Kajii to behave and not blow things up every five minutes.

But then he turns around and Chuuya is stood with a freshly broken out Kajii and his biggest puppy dog eyes and he goes "Boss, can we keep him, pleeeaaaseeeeee?"

And Chuuya never asks for anything so he has to give in, on the condition that Kajii is Chuuya's responsibility and he cleans up after the messes he makes.

Thus is the beginning of Kajii and Chuuya's very chaotic friendship.
