Ah! I'm happy to learn that my response to the block vs burnout ASK was useful to you. I can understand how people might confuse them, but my god, they are entirely different demons. I'm so sorry you're going through burnout - it sucks major hairy balls.

How do you not suffer like soul-crushing burn out and exhaustion from making so much content so quickly? Like that seems like something that would degrade the quality of your work over time and basically incinerate a person. How do you avoid that?
For Scarlet Lady specifically, I didn't even start publishing pages until I had the entire "Origins" episode drawn, lined, and "colored". Back then, I was posting two pages a week, so that bought me about a month to work on the next part. I self-imposed a rule that I needed to draw at least one new page for every page that was posted, so I was never less than 7 pages ahead.
At one point, I changed how I was planning chapters - in "Origins - Part 1", "Origins - Part 2", "Stormy Weather", and "Bubbler" were all made using my old method of "write a page when you think of a joke" method. When I got to "Lady Wifi", I started planning the whole chapter start to finish with an overall plot and then making the script with jokes after the general episode was planned, which overall sped up my work.
Soon I was full episodes ahead of what was being posted. I was able to increase posting to three times a week and it wouldn't bite into my headway.
When I hit "Volpina", my favorite episode to work on, I had so much fun that I was finishing two pages a day. And then it happened again in "Dark Cupid". And again and again and before I knew it, I was like half a season ahead of what was being posted.
When I went through bouts of burnout, I had plenty of headway to take a break. I know mine isn't a perfect model to replicate for everyone, and there's certainly pitfalls (like canon adding something that changes a joke I made two months ago, or new lore dropping, or not being able to immediately implement reader feedback where it's warranted), but for burnout, it worked for me.

Romanticizing Productivity (Minus the Burnout) 。𖦹°‧

this is for the girls who feel like they’re falling behind but keep showing up anyway. ♡
✶ you are not lazy.
✶ you are not behind.
✶ you are a real person with a real nervous system, trying to do her best in a world that rewards burnout.
✶ give yourself grace. then give yourself a nap.
Plan your days ˚。・─౨♡ৎ─・。゚
When you know what you're doing, when, and how, life feels less overwhelming.
Use a planner
make a cute to-do list with time stamps & decorate it to encourage yourself to look at it
Personally, planning makes my day way easier, but sometimes even this isn't enough. You could literally just stare at your planner blankly and ignore it for the whole day.
The 4 Quarter Method
Quarter 1 (Morning): 6am-10am
Quarter 2 (Midday): 10am-2pm
Quarter 3 (Afternoon): 2pm-6pm
Quarter 4 (Evening): 6pm-9/10pm
Decide what you want to do in those spaces. And note that even if you need to start over, you don’t have to wait until tomorrow, literally just do it next quarter.
The 12-Week Year
Instead of viewing a year as a long 12-month stretch, you break it into shorter 12-week periods, treating each as a 'year'. This encourages you to focus and take action on your goals sooner, turning your long-term goals into short-term ones.

૮ ․ ․ ྀིა track progress and adjust as needed
૮ ․ ․ ྀིა keep your goals specific and measurable, breaking them down into weekly targets.
Be realistic ⭑.ᐟ
Don't overestimate your energy levels, and do not try to lie to yourself. Leave space for unpredictability.
Discipline over Motivation ˚。・─౨♡ৎ─・。゚
If you wait until you feel motivated to get things done, it’s unlikely that you actually will. So this is where discipline comes in because it provides more control and consistency. In other words, train yourself through building habits and routine to do what needs to be done, even if you don’t feel like doing it.
Choosing to do things you don’t like/want to right now for future you.
You literally have to choose the version of yourself you’d rather be over the version of you that you want to leave behind. Think about the future and think about whatever you wanna do. Imagine that person. Girl, that’s you and always will be as long as you take yourself seriously, as long as you are truthful to yourself, as long as you continuously choose to do whatever it takes not to be the opposite.
The Execution ˚。・─౨♡ৎ─・。゚
What about the things that lead to your goals? I like to create routines, habits and rituals because they make the tasks doable.
Build daily and weekly systems that you will automatically fall into (over time of course) for even when you don’t feel like it but you know you need to. These systems create habits.
。𖦹°‧ Morning/Night rituals/routines - structure the start and end of your day
。𖦹°‧ Study Rituals - your methods & what you do before, during and after matter
。𖦹°‧ Habit stacking - build new habits by attaching them to established routine.
。𖦹°‧ Reuse the 4 quarter method by planning each day's workload
The 2-Minute Method
If a habit feels too overwhelming, start with just two minutes - James Clear. The idea is to start small and build momentum over time.
‹𝟹 Wanna read more? Start with reading for two minutes.
‹𝟹 Wanna journal? Write a single sentence.
‹𝟹 Wanna study? Read the first paragraph/page.

We all have procrastinated from time to time. It’s normal. It’s human. However, understanding why we do it can help us break out of it.
The leading causes of procrastination:

₊ ⊹ Putting things off is normal for all of us, but it’s important to notice when something has gone/is going too far. Maybe you’re struggling to understand a concept, and that’s why, but that’s when you have to take the time to put yourself first and ask for help.
All you have to do is start. The first step is usually the hardest, and also the only one that matters the most.
Think you wasted the day away already? It’s the little things that count.
Do something right now.
Stretch, shower, brush your teeth, eat a meal, change your clothes, get some sun, read a page of a book. Starting something often leads me to wanting to continue. Instead of one page, I’ll read a chapter even though I said I’d only read a page, simply because the page turned out to be so interesting- then I think, ‘oh yeah, that's why I bought this book’.
Academic Burnout & Toxic productivity ˚。・─౨♡ৎ─・。゚
Just because you’re functioning doesn’t mean you’re okay.
I feel like this is way more common than acknowledged, and as a former academic girlie (until I hit a breaking point), I know it all too well. I didn’t even realize I was burnt out until it’d already messed me up. So… don’t be like me. But also, it’s okay if you are already because you can always redeem yourself even if it’s not through academics.
Signs of Burnout <3 !

Rest is rest - when resting, don't do something draining like scrolling through your phone. Do something that’s meaningful to rest, a nap, eating, drinking water, meditating, just to rest your brain
Pay attention to how you feel and react to certain things to recognize the symptoms, do not ignore yourself.
Make time for fun and social activities - gives your brain a break, boosts energy, and can feel refreshing while also boosting creativity
Practice mindfulness - being present in the moment by going outside or meditating reduces stress and boosts emotional regulation
Get a lot of exercise, stay hydrated, and eat good quality food - improves sleep and increases energy levels
Set reasonable goals - don’t try to do everything at the same time or in one time frame, and know your limits
Keep your environment organized to feel organized and more at peace
Develop good relationships with your classmates and professors/teachers, so going to class doesn’t feel like a chore
Positive self-talk - encouraging yourself every day and reminding yourself you can do anything you put your mind to, because you can !
Stick to deadlines and avoid procrastination (more on the how-to-avoid side)
Changing the scenery helps more than you think
Have no more than 2 intense quarters per day.
Remember why you are doing this in the first place and if you can’t find a reason then you definitely have to think about if this is what you want to do and if you don’t, that may be the main cause of your burnout
Seek help through your support system (friends, family, therapist) or even me because i’m always here if you need to talk
Reality Check 𓂂 𓇼˚。 •
it’s literally not necessary to be working excessively hard, trying to find ways to sleep less to study/work more because it will cost you your mental, emotional and physical health.. and if you don’t have those.. there’s literally no point of doing anything. social media has glamorized toxic productivity so much that it’s an aesthetic. to be raw, slowly killing yourself isn’t cute. you’re a real person with real feelings and limits. you are not a brand packaging an ideal that is in no way real. and at the end of the day, grades don’t matter as much as you may currently believe they do. you have to choose to take care of yourself because no one else is going to do it for you.
Be efficient — study smarter, not harder ˚。・─౨♡ৎ─・。゚
Before you even touch a book:
‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡ Stretch your body — it actually helps your brain engage
‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡ Stay hydrated, eat quality foods, take your vitamins - fuel matters
‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡ Plan your days - list assignments by date the moment you get your syllabus, then just check things off
Study Methods That actually Work:

How did Elesa get a Blitzle as a starter if she's from Sinnoh? (hang on this is ironic she could've learned about warden ingo in school back there)


Blitzle Elesa backstory under cut!
Blitzle was gifted to Elesa so she has an “easier time” integrating into Nimbasa by her well meaning dad. This is not the greatest move, since the two feel they are more obligated to stick together then, you know, actually choose each other. Blitzle’s meant to be a utility mon— he helps charge elesa’s hearing aid batteries and basically serves as an emotional support when things get rough. He’s… not the biggest fan. (I like to imagine Blitzle was originally part of a battle track, but his IVs aren’t the greatest so they shuffled him out. He’s a bit bitter about that.)

Inciting incident where they actually start taking the proper steps to becoming partners is when Elesa takes a tumble down a hill and Blitzle twists his foreleg going after her. (Local child eats shit! More at 11.)





They’re just kids, and they’re still learning.
(When Elesa decides to challenge the gyms, Blitzle’s so excited he accidentally trips their house’s circuits.)

i’m constantly so impressed by all the projects you do and how you’re able to juggle work with writing and renovations and etc etc. do you have any tips on how to have like…actual hobbies? i don’t know if my brain is just rotted from my phone but i get home from my tech job and all i do is eat and sleep and watch something. i’m not sure how to be creative or active anymore
(Answering public since I get this question a lot) I’m going to tell you a not-so-secret.
I’m tired. All the time. Sometimes that tiredness hits a breaking point. I have a small breakdown and a big cry. I back off from all but the essentials (work) for a week or two until I no longer feel like I’m held together by duct tape and the softness of my dog’s ears. And then I pick everything else back up. And I keep going until I can’t. And then I do it again.
This is probably not healthy. But it’s also my only option to set myself up for the future I want. I want to have friends so I make myself socialize. I want to have a house that makes me proud and comfortable so I make myself work on projects. I want to be healthy and not develop osteoporosis so I make myself go to the gym. I want to retire early from my tech job and only write books so I make myself write even when I’m exhausted because if I don’t I won’t continue to improve and I won’t continue to publish and then I won’t get to live that dream.
I’m burnt out! But I’m stubborn. And it helps that I actually do enjoy most of the above things, even if my burn-out often makes them feel like chores. I force myself to do so many things outside of work because I only have this life and the things that exhaust me now are setting me up for a less exhausting future.
I don’t know if that’s at all applicable to you. But if you want advice other than “be a stubborn bitch” I guess it’s to set time commitments for yourself rather than productivity commitments.
And by that, I mean that I tell myself I’m going to the gym to work out for thirty minutes and swim for thirty minutes. Whether that’s a hard workout/swim or lifting the dinkiest of weights and doing a dog paddle, is up to me. But I have to spend that hour at the gym. Typically, once I’ve started something, my brain wants to Do The Thing Good, and auto-pilot kicks in. Same with writing. I say I’m going to write for an hour. That means opening the doc and getting down words. Or editing. Or staring at the open doc and listening to my music and daydreaming. But I have to sit there for that hour with that open doc. And typically that hour turns into more than an hour once I’m started.
Anyway. No idea if this is helpful but mostly I’d like to convey resigned solidarity! This is what the world has done to us and it sucks.

Whumpril 2025 | 8. Burnout
---
Hero hated their job and people and the world and also their job.
They slammed the keys on a side table and continued to the living space. And there—sprawled on their sofa—Villain.
Did Hero already mention they hated their job?
“This is really not the day,” they growled and turned, hoping next time they lend an eye on the sofa, Villain would be gone.
That was an unrealistic wish, of course.
When they looked again, Villain was still there, casually splayed on the cushions like the place belonged to them.
Hero gritted their teeth. “What do you even wan- You know what? I don’t care. Just get out of my home.”
This was supposed to be their sanctuary. The only place where they didn’t need to think about their job. Where they were supposed to feel safe. Warm. At peace.
This was not the case. You couldn’t turn a place into a home when you only stepped into it for a few hours each week. Whenever they managed to leave their job, they just felt straight to the mattress pushed to a corner (they really should buy a bedframe, finally) and fell asleep.
Hero headed toward their fridge, but when they opened it, there was nothing but a jar with half of a pickle. Perfect.
They closed their eyes. Took a deep breath. And turned to Villain.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to help.”
“If your help doesn’t inquire good warm food, I don’t want it.”
Villain just tilted their head to a side, staring at Hero like they have grown pair of antlers.
“I can take you out for dinner.”
“Just… leave. Please.”
They wanted to sleep so much. To pretend they don’t need to wake up in few hours and work again. Fight this goddamn bastard. Or someone else.
Villain just shrugged. “I still think dinner sounds better, but in case you’re interested—I made a potato salad.”
They stood up and pulled out a bowl from behind their back, filled with a yellowish substance that looked like someone had already eaten it once.
“You wanna poison me?”
“Why would I? You manage to destroy yourself way faster than I ever could. Now, eat up.”
Hero looked them up suspiciously. “We’re enemies.”
“If you say so.”
Villain was not pushing, just stood there quiet. Waiting. And Hero was so hungry. And maybe, getting poisoned wasn't so bad. At least, they wouldn’t have to go to their job tomorrow. So they ate in silence. It was surprisingly good, maybe because this was the first thing they'd had all day. By the time the bowl was scraped clean, the exhaustion hit all at once.
“Come on,” Villain murmured, already stepping toward them. “You look like you’re about to pass out sitting up.” They swiftly picked Hero up and carried them to the mattress on the floor. They gently laid Hero down.
“Perfect. Thank you. Now leave?”
“Not a chance.”
They laid next to them, so close they were almost touching. Silence stretching between them like a fragile thread and for a long moment, neither of them moved. Then, Hero finally spoke: “Why would you choose to be a villain?”
Villain waited. Smiled. “…Money.”
“That’s so superficial.”
“You can’t blame me. Look at your apartment. Do they even pay you?”
“Hey-“
“I mean, next time, you could come to my place. If you’d like.”
“I don’t know where you live.”
“Of course you don’t. I’ll lead you there. If you’re not opposed to a blindfold.”
“That’s not fair. You know my address.”
“Yes. Because you are extraordinarily bad at protecting your privacy. Sometimes I even wonder how they let you in the Hero Agency.”

Stalking your posts and totally freaked at your mention of HHU (please no pressure tho Rayne just see it as support and stalker interest lol) and was curious…is it your burnout that is the toughest part for you regarding HHU and your original works? Stupid question probably??? >.< I haven’t written in a looong time myself (so many unfinished fics heh >.>) but I think it’s block and not burnout. Is there a big difference?? Not a stupid question. And yes. It is undoubtedly the toughest, most frustrating, and devastatingly painful thing I've had to face regarding my creative journey.
I haven’t written in a looong time myself (so many unfinished fics heh >.>) but I think it’s block and not burnout. Is there a big difference?? I get confused but I know you’ve been struggling and always said it was burnout not block?
Oh luv, I'm sorry you've not been able to write for such a time. I'm not sure which camp you're in but I'll try to give my two cents re: differentiating between Block and Burnout. Please note: this isn't a one-size fits all explanation, as I can only speak to my own experience.
So for me, personally, the distinction is this:
Block = I have no ideas or inspiration; I have gas in the tank, just no map and no destination. Maybe my tyres are spinning in the mud a bit. I need a jump-start. Or maybe I need to figure out which gear I'm stuck in. With the right mechanical mojo, I can take the wheel.
Burnout = I have a destination, I want to reach it, I even have a map, but my engine is shot to shit and my tank is empty. I cannot be jump-started by my usual tricks and my gear-stick is broken. I have all the ideas and even sparks of inspiration yet I possess absolutely no capacity to actually get it OUT of my head onto the page. I am a fuming roadwreck. Even Jesus can't take this wheel.
Burnout, (again, I'm speaking to my personal experience of it) is a severe, scary, and surreal kind of shitshow that feels like my brain has mutinied and is gaslighting itself. Unlike a block, burnout is defined as 'a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion brought on by prolonged or repeated stress' (said stress is different and unique in each case). Basically your nervous system has been sadistically rewired into survival mode, your creative tyres have been slashed, and you're not firing on all cylinders because your cylinders are now warped scrap metal in a flaming junk yard. It is a godawful state of breakdown. And when you try to rev, it costs you.
Blocks are cordons that can be navigated or bulldozed...burnouts are the love child of napalm and Greek Fire. You can't smash or power through them. Unless you like third degree burns on your psyche and soul.
Drama. I am full of it. I know. This is what happens when a writer isn't writing. Monsterous. Inconsolable. Insufferable.
