There was a dragon in space. A brilliant, glowing white eastern dragon that looked like a star moving within space.
It seemingly wasn't doing anything, just floating throughout space with seemingly, no destination in mind. Sometimes it flies around earth, looking but never flying down onto the planet, sometimes it lands on the moon, taking a nap or just playing around by itself.
There were other times it flew through the asteroid belt hiding the Watchtower, yet it hasn't found it yet.
Yet.
The dragon didn't seem like a threat, just playing around within space, minding its own business. Batman monitors it regardless, however.
They didn't know where it came from, what its powers were, why it was here or if its intentions of playing were bound to change into something of hostility. He made eventual plans for it, if it were to turn violent one day, though he leaved it to its own devices for the most part.
His plans were to be used for the What-ifs, not willy nilly.
There came a time when the Justice League were having a debrief in the Watchtower, as they usually do. When the satellites discreetly monitoring it picked up on something.
Another dragon.
One that resembled a western dragon more with black and purple scales.
The first dragon they were monitoring seemed to be off put by the other one, uncharacteristically hostile. Meanwhile the other dragon seemed to be smug, arrogant, seemingly about to on some kind of speech before realizing it couldn't talk in space.
They fought, and they got a view of the dragon's abilities for the first time. Ice, energy blasts, shields, and a wail so powerful it could even be heard clearly throughout space.
the other dragon was no slouch, either, though seemingly less abilities than the other. Fire, speed and strength, which was a given considering their species. It tanked multiple of the other dragon's attacks, though seemed desperate, wary, and even scared of its wail.
They both injured each other, quite severely too. The second dragon seemed to have gotten the upper hand, and got cocky because of that, and so, failed to avoid a wail that blasted it back, followed by two more.
It got hit by the second and barely dodged the third. Then had to retreat due to its injuries.
The first dragon wasn't that well off either, various cuts around its body and green blood leaking out into space. It sluggishly flew to the moon, landed, and then stopped moving entirely.
They decided to try and help it.
-----
Danny was the recently crowned prince of the Ghost Zone, though its king, Pariah Dark, was still in his coffin.
He got a new ability, which was sweet! He could turn into an eastern dragon, which was extremely nice, though a bit annoying having to get used to whenever he woke up and realized most of his body was off his bed because he shifted into a dragon overnight.
What was less cool was how many responsibilities as prince he had to go through, etiquette training, learning history, attending the apparent 'high society' of the ghost zone parties, deciding who gets what fair and square and making sure there was nothing going severely wrong in the Zone.
Something the King was supposed to be doing, but you know, can't when he's sleeping and all.
And how could he forget? The marriage proposals.
He goddamn hated them. So much so that he had to publicly demand to stop sending him them be he's never going to court and marry anyone.
All was good, for a while. But of course, everything couldn't go so smoothly for him. The Observants foresaw a future where he apparently went 'mad with power being the sole royalty' and thought him to be the next coming of Pariah Dark, and then forcibly stated that anyone who can beat him in combat is someone who will marry him, no courting involved and no matter how Danny feels about the ghost.
Danny Obviously didn't like that, not at all. But it was fine, for the most part, because there was no ghost capable of besting him in combat. Well, there were some, but they just simply weren't interested in becoming king or in Vlad's case, marrying him
Prince Aragon
The guy kept trying and trying, no matter how many times he defeated him. Claiming that because he has the ability to turn into a dragon, he simply has to marry him, that he deserved to have Danny as his bride.
Danny still batted him away, making jokes and mocking him for it, even. Though he had a sneaking suspicion that Aragon wanted to marry him to regain his nobility, but that wouldn't happen.
He then disappeared out of nowhere, off the face of the Ghost Zone too. Danny was glad for it, no skin off his back if someone that annoying disappeared, so he went on life as normal, hanging out with his friends, managing ghostly responsibilities, and spending more time with his family.
Even his grades got better! Now that ghost attacks happened less.
Then Aragon reappeared one day, declaring another fight for his hand in marriage. Danny thought it would be easy as all the other times. But something was different with Aragon, he was stronger, faster, more durable.
And it scared him. Scared him how very close the fallen prince was to defeating him in combat, how close he was to losing and having to marry Aragon, how close he was to having to have someone like that as his spouse for what may very well be eternity.
He had a nightmare, that night. One where he lost and was forcibly married to Aragon.
So he ran. He told his friends and family why he was running, and didn't care to tell anyone else why he was running, he just had to get away before his nightmare became a reality.
He went through a lot of dimensions, realms, whatever. Not staying for long, constantly looking over his shoulder just in case Aragon was right behind him, following him.
He ended up in space, near earth and he, tired of all the running and just wanting to stay somewhere for once, stayed. Floating around space.

White Ferrari !
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— pairing: 西村力 x reader — contains: Flirting, jealousy, racing — now playing: 一子青葉
Tumblr media
Niki wanted to sleep; that's all he wanted to do, but the race hadn't even started yet.
"Bro, are you ready or not?" Louder than the roaring car engines, Jake's voice jolted Niki from his dissociative state.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming" he replied, sheepishly walking over to the white Ferrari F40 waiting for him. He had plenty of racing cars, and he usually wouldn't even use this one, hoping to keep it in one piece as street races didn't always end in his favor, but it was your favorite out of his selection and you were watching, so it only made sense to use it.
He hops in the car, not before raising his eyebrow at you and smirking.
Starting the car, the engine's loud. One of the perks of owning a sports car.
He drives it into position as the cars sit on display at the side of the road. Waiting, he watches you through the passenger window. Not noticing him, you get stuck in a conversation with a guy he doesn't know.
Tall, dark hair, and a dragon tattoo on the side of his neck, leaning on a 2018 Mclaren spider. It was a nice car visually, but it looked brand new, and it's uncommon to see such shiny cars in underground street races. Those who do bring new cars into street races often aren't very good at racing because they're only there to show off.
And maybe it was just jealousy talking, but Niki was ripping this poor boy to shreds in his head; you didn't even like Mclaren's or tattoos. So the dude was out of your league anyway.
"Race starts in 5 minutes!" Somebody shouted in the distance. The boy said goodbye and winked as he got in his car and drove right up next to Niki.
He's not even all that cute... Niki thought
Before he knew it, the race was starting.
As Niki blew you a kiss, the Mclaren boy started revving his engine, probably to get your attention.
Childish? Perhaps, but as he gripped his steering wheel and with a tense jaw, Niki revved his car, which not only grabbed your attention but also everyone else's considering It was twice as loud. The boy shot him a side glance, to which he responded with a smirk.
The countdown started, and when the flag went up, Niki sped past everyone quickly, taking sharp turns and drifting left and right. Naturally, he'd be competitive with everyone racing, but right now all he cared about was beating the stupid McLaren.
The boy lost sight of Niki, but he was desperate to win.
He sped up as much as he could, passing by some Mustangs and old Corvettes.
Watching the TV broadcasting it on the sidelines, you assumed Niki would have some actual competition for once. The McLaren is a famously fast car, and the boy was still losing against Niki.
At this point, the rest of the racers were lost in the background, as Niki and the boy were the only two near the end.
Niki was familiar with this track—it's a common one with tight turns and lost alleys they'd have to navigate.
McLaren, on the other hand, was not.
He finally made his way in front of Niki. Smirking he started looking at the Ferrari in his review mirror, not realizing there was a sharp turn in front of him. He continued to speed up and once he finally returned his eyes to the road, he panicked.
He was going too fast to slow down in time and he wasn't very experienced with racing so drifting was out of the question.
He turns his wheel as fast as he can, the front of the car being fine but the rear smashed into the barrier, ruining the headlights and smashing the trunk hood into itself.
He managed to not totally crash but he was devastated.
Meanwhile, that was happening Niki took his chance to drift in front of him and speed to the finish line.
Niki wins with the McLaren following suit.
You run up to his car as he steps out, throwing your arms around him in congratulations as you would after each race. Niki kisses the top of your head as McLaren boy gets out of his car looking pissed.
An older man came running to him and started shouting
"How could you do this?? Huh? Are you dumb? You were supposed to win."
"I know but I-"
"No buts. You lost to the one man you came here to beat AND you fucked my car up. Wait till your mother hears about this."
You look at Niki in shock as he's still looking at the boy, slightly smirking. "It wasn't even his car he was showing off" Niki says followed by a chuckle "I knew he gave off daddy's money vibes when we were talking" You mentioned
"Anyway, I won as per usual, time to go home" Niki says as he opens up the passenger door for you to step in. You laugh, all while McLaren boy is staring at Niki in defeat.
-
The second you got home, you guys changed into pj's, Niki pulled you into bed, plopped himself on top of you, asked "Did you find him cute at all", and when you answered, "No, baby. Not even a little bit" he was content, he smiled, shared an "I love you" and fell for a long-awaited sleep.
"I love you too, ki"

I know people in HMC books speak English so there's not gonna be any kind of miscommunication between the characters, but sometimes I think about how it would be way more funny If there was some language diversity.
Howell Jenkins falls into the portal to an absolutely unknown, magical realm and... everyone speaks English. He was rather happy about it, finding it funny: it's a new, fantasy, fairy-tale based world with dragons and spells and seven-league boots and magic, and yet its habitants English. What are the odds?
However, it does not takes him long to realise (much to his own frustration) that, even though all of the locals native language is, in fact, English, it is pretty different from the English Howell himself is familiar with. He cant understand it quite well at fist, but it sounded like an odd mix of a modern language, specific dialects and an old tongue people was using around Victorian England/Middle Ages. It has so many words and unusual forms (Howell even called them "slang" once in a while), that it takes him a while to fully get every term and subtexts ms. Pentstemmon was referring to.
Their languages were similar just enough to catch the full sense of the sentence, but not enough to undertand all the little details, not cultural nor linguistic. It would even worst If he wasn't a big fun of Shakespeare and old Arthurian Legends growing up, letting alone studying old English (and old Welsh) at the university.
The language also differs from the area. Michael, for example, uses so many words you can hear in Porthaven only, regarding it's unique aspects. Sophie uses a lot of Market Chipping proverbs, and even more old terms connected with hats. The language he heard the King using wheh he got his first chance to met him at the time of his apprenticeship was so long, confusing and vivid, as If it was taken straight out of old English Literature books. And yet, English.
To this day Howell — at this point long-knowing as Howl Pendragon — finds himself confusing new terms, forms of words, proverbs and sayings. Maybe, he thinks, you have to be truly born there to understand all of - although he did better than anyone else would. Sophie seems to catching up just well.
Abdullah ends up with a flying carpet and the magical genie, exited to give away his fist wish to find the love of his love... only to not understand a word of what the genie is saying. This is how, instead of searching for Flower-In-The-Night, he now searching through a whole Zanzib for a proper translator from English because, here's the problem, If he can't understand the genie, then genie can't understand him, and If genie can't understand him, it's pointless to even try making a wish. He knows it's English: there's plenty people all around the world visiting the market, and he had even learnt certain words, important for making a trade, but that's not nearly close to a full sentence on unrelated topic.
With a great effort and after hours of searching for a really proffecional master of languages (who charges Abdullah nearly all of his money for one single session), he finally gets to the point. Except, here's another moment. That's where Abdullah finds out the wish has to be spoken from his heart and not through the other person. Here comes another catch — Ingarian English, no matter how simple or structured is, to put is simply, badly different from Rapshutian Arabic. It's not even the same language group!
So, he sits in the small, hot room near the glamorous bottle and tries to pronounce a bunch of difficult, complex words written on a paper, the kind that translator couldn't cut or simplify to ones he's familiar with, for a whole ten (to fifteen) minutes. And, as If trying to make his task as difficult as possible, genie, when he shows up, starts randomly breaking into the language translator can't even recognise, with no talk about understanding. Abdullah assumes it may be a secret genie language only this creatures know and, annoyingly, gets along with it.
After successfully wishing to understand (and use) English, he also finds out he can't wish for anything more language-related, and he shouldn't even bother himself trying to ask for a foolish things like an ability to speak every language in the world. Language is a big part of human's essence and otherwise shouldn't be messing with, just as magic focusing on it is strictly limited.
Using this fact, the genie also finds a loophole - from now on he speaks his secret genie language half of the time, stopping only when it comes to important tasks, because Abdullah "wished to know only one of his languages" and he, apparently, knows more.
This whole puzzle takes new turns, when, while traveling with the carpet, Abdullah meets the solider. Despite claiming being from Strangia, this strange man from the forest starts speaking with them in English in first and then, noticing they're from different country, easily switches to Arabic.
As they wander together, the soliders explains that he is non less confused than they are: he didn't even noticed he could speak English before the passer-byes from Ingary noticed him, and now, being with genie and Abdullah, he also remembered he knows Arabic. He adds that he can't recall anything before his duty in the army, where he definitely used Stangian and nothing else, but it feels like an strong knowledge he has, even If he doesn't remember learning any of this. He decides to wave it off, focusing on the cats and schemes.
The solider becomes a great translator for them along the journey, up to the day the got the inn. He does not understand the secret genie language, though. Especially when from the jinnies and angels they found out there's, in fact, no such a thing as a "genie language"
The story finally clears itself when Midnight and Whippersnapper turn into humans, the Solider turns into a bewitched Prince and the Royal Wizard surprisingly seems to recognize all of the words the genie was — and still is — using.
Charmain runs after Sophie with a long, old dictionary she has found in the Great Uncle Norland's Library. The Royals, of course, gave their honored guest the translator, but the things quickly becomes pretty private, with the search for the gold and all this story with lubboks, so Sophie tells them she's gonna manage it by herself.
To say the Dictionary is heavy is to say nothing: it's huge and thick, containing thousands of words from Ingarian English alone, split by topics, marked with tons of colors an additional moments. Even carrying it around is a whole different type of task.
Half of the time Charmain and Sophie communicate with gestures, context clues and even sounds. When they need to say something really long and complex, they write, leaning on the Dictionary, as it's a bit faster than talking. Still, at some moments Charmain has to flip through the massive pages, searching for the right word with her finger, while Sophie has to do the same. Till the end of the day the both learn some basic words from each other's language, which makes it easier.
The poor nanny has even harder times with Twinkle and Morgan, because she has no idea about what they actually want, except they both whining and crying, one louder than another.
Translator does not come in handy that much, as it looks like these children mix languages everytime when speaking to each other. She has to guess things all over the room to finally get what they need, and usually it's the most useless things ever, like striped pants and a bunch of toy horses falling from the sky.
They see Sophie and Twinkle arguing about something, but no one gets the topic of their screaming, let alone the reason why Sophie is so mad at this angelic child. Charmain asks Sophie about it, because she heard an unusual name along the lines of their quarrels, but Sophie looks too annoyed to explain, mumbling something in her native language with some sort of anger.
The only positive side of it all is that, If Chairman can't understand English, then the lubbocks can't either. Wich means that they didn't have to be as cautious when using Dictionary as they would have to If they understood each other perfectly.
Then she has to climb on the roof, where Twinkle is sitting. Charmain tries to dismiss all his attempts to start a dialogue till she's there, huffing and suffocating as she tries to get the Dictionary with her, trying not to fall.
Twinkle seems to be really proud of himself, saying he knows twice more languages that anyone else in this magical House. Charmain flips through the pages, asking either one of is the one she knows (Norlandian, I assume).
Twinkle says no. For a second Charmaine starts to really understand Sophie's feeling, fighting the urge to hit him on the head with this massive book.
Peter does not communicate with this new guest as much and, luckily, he knows the language Charmain speaks, so they don't have to struggle with a language barrier. The way speaks might be a bit different because of the area he grew up and the amount of hiding and spells he encountered, but there's nothing they can't handle. Luckily.
Calcifer knows the Saucepan song, but other than that his linguistic knowledge is far from perfect, certainly not as good as you'd expect from a fire demon. He also cannot use a Dictionary, because it will burn the second he'll come to close to it, and If this happens their main way of communication is basically gone. He makes up for it, talking with Twinkle, Morgan and Sophie, as well as being expressive enough to understand the basics or what he feels and plans. Sometimes someone (aka Sophie) has to translate what he is saying when she's near, wich is a bit longer than Charmain would wish, but still pretty plausible. She got that he desperately needs his logs, after all.
Twinkle could have used some kind of magical bubble to get them finally understand each other fully, but, again, magic connected with languages is pretty difficult and has its important limits, so it wouldn't last long. Little 30 years old boy is enjoying his childhood, running up the stairs and beating these huge bugs, not as much caring about Charmain all this huge book in her hands.
In the end, (as he turnds out to be) the Royal Wizard Howl is right - the only languages lubbocks can understand is punching.
(Many thanks to my rly good friend @your-queen-shuri for being co-author of this concept. A bunch of ideas here are from her!)

Could I request a Drayton x Ghost Specialist!Reader,?
Preferably male Reader but idm ^^
Okay anon you might have to hear me out for this one, but I thought it'd be cool to do a spin on this where DRAYTON is the scary one, despite reader being the Ghost Specialist. So I present to you: Yandere Drayton!!
I have more headcanons of the yandere dragon boy in my drafts, but I didn't feel super confident posting them-- so if anyone is interested in seeing them, let me know :o
Yandere!Drayton x Ghost Specialist!Reader
Warnings: Creepy/Possessive behavior, implied character death
Tumblr media
First off, you've got ghost friends everywhere!! They often greet you by phasing through walls or teleporting straight into the room. Being a Ghost Specialist, you've befriended many wild Ghost Pokemon without even catching them. When Drayton meets you for the first time, you've got a Misdreavus and Gastly hovering over your shoulders.
Your main two Pokemon you use in battle are Ceruledge and Decidueye, with the rest being swapped out depending on the occasion. You usually use Mismagius, Froslass, Rotom, and Golurk though.
When Drayton first approached you to shake your hand, your Ceruledge pops out of its ball and stands in front of you to guard you, which catches both of you off guard. Drayton laughs it off and acts confused, with you apologizing for your Pokemon. He invites you to battle after that, which you happily accept!
Turns out though, Ceruledge jumping in to protect you wasn't an accident. When you battle Drayton later, you're absolutely floored by his team... and he just smiles at you the whole time. He follows you back to the League Clubroom and acts friendly towards you, but the whole time, he's got his hand on your shoulder. It's almost like he wanted your Ceruledge to know its place... but you brush off the thought. Drayton's just being friendly with you, after all. No reason to be suspicious yet.
One day, Crispin asks you to get lunch with him, because he can't decide what to eat. He grabs your hand to lead you to the cafeteria, at which point he is immediately stopped by Drayton. Drayton just smiles and says, "Where are you going, bud? Going without me?" His voice is oddly cold yet calm.
...You'd gotten used to this kind of behavior from Ghost Pokemon, but seeing a human do it? It kind of scares you.
Crispin sighs. He doesn't seem to realize the darkness in Drayton's voice. "Drayton, stop being weird about it! It's not a date or anything, we're just getting a bite to eat!" He says, raising an eyebrow. "But yeah, I guess you can come with us."
Your Ghost friends pop through the walls to see you at the cafeteria, but.. none of them get close...? At this point, you know something is wrong. Crispin seems to have a good time at least, but you're worried for him.
You go to bed that night trying to figure out why you felt so uneasy. Just as you're about to drift off, you hear a voice outside your dorm room, along with the sound of something heavy being dragged on the floor: "Crispin isn't going to take you away from me anymore, Y/N. No one is."
When you check the peephole, there's no one there.
You don't sleep well at all that night.

So... that anime episode, huh...
You know, I wasn't expecting Hassel to be in Horizons just yet, despite Brassius being there and them being eternally married having a strong canonical connection. Wouldn't make a lot of sense, if you think about it. Liko doesn't go to Naranja or Uva, and Hass is a bit too senior in the League to just randomly show up.
... But no, no. Silly me. Of course he's there anyway, because Paldea is a personal attack on me specifically. (Also the entire EphemeralArt Discord, but those darlings don't meta as much as I do. <3)
Tumblr media
... Nine out of ten Artazon natives ask their maestro what the honest fuck.
That's Hassel's jacket - several of them, in fact. In Brassius' fucking wardrobe. Just as a comparative for you...
Tumblr media
And oh yeah, in case that wasn't mind-blowing enough, it's next to an Appletun piece. Because of all the wacky and wonderful Grass types you could art, OF COURSE IT'S THE HALF-DRAGON.
Why isn't it a Flapple? Come on now, guys. We can't make it quite that obvious now. ;) There's gotta be a vague level of subtlety, man. No kid needs the level of brainrot I permanently have over these homosexuals. Save them, please. (And also... it's an apple pie. It's homely, and warm, and soft. A perfect bedroom piece for that dragon you keep in your bedroom). And well, there's, er... I would encourage you all, provided you're all over the age of eighteen, to go and stare at the dex entry for Appletun in Sword and die right along with me because, and no overt spoilers... nectar. That is all. (I like my meta accessible to all, but dear gods in heaven.)
But the fact remains... the anime has placed Hassel in Brassius' bedroom. Twice.
Thank you anipoke, very cool

Hi! How do you think Amy used to cope with the girls getting a new year kiss every year and not her? Like, I could totally see her sitting on the couch while everyone celebrates, and her desperately waiting for Sheldon to make even the tiniest of moves… it makes me feel bad for her
This is one of those things that probably should have been a kind of a big problem but the show got around it by just not ever mentioning it. So let's go season by season.
Season 4
We actually got a New Year episode this season, so we know the guys plus Penny spent it at Stuart's comic book store dressed as the Justice League. Amy wasn't there because she didn't like to wear costumes at that time. This was also before she and Sheldon were dating and they hadn't kissed at all yet. This year was not a problem.
Season 5
Sheldon and Amy were boyfriend and girlfriend by this New Year, but they had only just started dating in November (there is only one episode between the one where they start dating and where New Year would fall). At this point the biggest change they had made to their relationship was just the label, things had not progressed much yet. Also Penny and Leonard were not together during this New Year. If the group had decided to celebrate together, I don't think Amy would have felt too hurt or left out without a kiss for this one. Still not a problem.
Season 6
This is the first year where I think it might be a problem. This is the season where Amy starts to push their relationship a little. They've had their second anniversary, they're holding hands, trying to do couples costumes together, and he recently took care of her while she was sick. I definitely think Amy would be expecting a New Year's kiss this time. I would like to think that while Sheldon does not allow a kiss, maybe he will allow a different gesture of affection. Maybe he slips his hand into hers while the ball drops and they share some intense eye contact, maybe so intense that Amy doesn't see the other couples kissing around her.
Season 7
And it's a problem again. They've gotten closer in the past year, had simulated intercourse via Dungeons & Dragons, spent a summer together without Leonard, now share a workplace, and Amy's riding high after finding out Sheldon put her picture in his screensaver. Again, she's definitely going to expect a New Year's kiss and he's not going to give her one. I actually think this could be the moment she starts plotting their Valentine's Day train trip, like that's how she copes this time. If he won't kiss her now then she'll just manufacture a situation where romance is inevitable. You gotta hand it to her, it worked.
And then I think once we get past The Locomotive Manipulation and into Season 8, Amy will finally get her New Year's kisses. Sure, Sheldon's not big on public displays of affection, but they're kissing on date nights by now and it is the social convention, so I think he'll allow at least a peck. So put into perspective it's just those 2 years of yearning really. Thinking about it still makes me feel bad for her too, but Amy's resilient, she makes it through.

Part 2 of Liochant focused rewrite, this time focusing on the fact that he is a skilled combatant, has no known past, and honestly no real certified looks. I acknowledge the fact that he has a minecraft block figure but so does Lucinda and we all know that that isn't what she looks like, the afro latina queen.
Since almost all of Liochant is up to interpretation, I have decided to abuse the fuck out of it. Which brings me back to writing a baseline background for him.
Liochant is from the desert part of Tu'la and much like many of the inhabitants of that area, has tattoos which he covers up as they are uncommon in Ru'aun. The tattoos are all inscriptions of protection and power, ones that bring him strength when needed and are beautifully done. All symbols of a warrior which hint at his skill.
Liochant is an incredibly skilled combatant, making the Dragon Ward despite the fact that he was "not to be trusted." In armor, he is a few leagues below Katelyn and Garroth, probably on par with Travis, who spent his entire life fighting imps. Without armor, he is on par if not better in some areas than the two knights, for wearing heavy metal armor in a desert is a death sentence, so one has to be as fast as a viper. In a fight with Katelyn he can certainly do some damage, especially if he is using khopesh his native weapon, with the fight most likely ending in a draw, with wins and loses on both sides but favoring Liochant. With Garroth, it truly is an anyones game because Garroth is sturdy, protected and has reach but Liochant is smaller (5'10 compared to Garroths massive size) and is fast.
Though, I do have to point this out that he has never fought without armor in Ru'aun yet. Liochant's goal is to not be feared but accepted.
Now the reason Liochant is so great is because he grew up in a temple of Menphia until he was 7, when the King of Tu'la invaded the deserts and burned down all temples for he is the only God to be worshipped. Soon after, the selfish Tiger King set up places for his personal entertainment, one such being a gladiator pit. A place to throw thieves and criminals to fight for his pleasure. Eventually, a starving 12 year old Liochant got caught stealing bread, and he had to choose to fight or be executed.
Liochant got better and better and moved higher up into the fighter ranks, each level coming with its own turmoils and benefits but unlike some of the other warriors, he wasn't treated to the same level of finery as he was a marked follower of menphia (when you reach 6 in the temple, a sun is tattooed onto your back with ink that makes it grow with you for Menphia is the furious sun). So, regardless of how skilled he was, he wasn't a worshipper of the king, but that still doesn't mean others didn't like him.
He did mange to hold onto his culture throughout, still managing to get tattoos despite the scars and learn. Many of the funders for the fight would "rent" a gladiator out, and he was smart, not intelligent, but smart. Eventually, he escaped when he was 20 and headed to Ru'aun, wanting to see what he could do to right the wrongs.
Essentially, my goal is to make him a character foil or counterpart to Garroth that I will go into later.
Ooo can’t wait to hear more.

Prompt 16: Third-rate
It was another day at work in Dravania. Or at least, Esredes thought it was going to be, until he soon realized they had a guest. Normally the diplomats for the Dravanian Alliance simply went over to Anyx Trine in an airship when there was business to conduct with Hraesvelgrs' brood, and that is what happened today as well.
But the Azure Dragoon was here with them today. Not the last one, who Esredes at least had some respect for after how much Ysayle advocated for him, but his replacement, who Esredes didn't really know anything about. Everyone else at work loved him, of course. Esredes was working to maintain the balance between man and dragon, and all around him was nothing but Dragoons. Not a single person like him, not a single Disciple of Shiva- only those who were all too eager to kill him and any dragon before the war ended, yet had decided to follow the original Azure's footsteps and become Dragonriders.
Esredes never understood it. He had spent eight years and counting trying to get the dragons to trust him, as someone who fought for them. And while it worked for some, others never budged. They called him a foolish mortal, they called him eager to violence and warmonger, and he took their words. But they sometimes looked the other way when the Dragoons talked to them, as if they weren't approaching them in that spiked armor, unlike Esredes. Esredes liked his diplomatic coworkers. They accepted his position as a harrier, they were not hypocrites by any means. But it never left him to wonder, if the war were to restart, where they would point their lances. And something told him it wouldn't be at Ishgard, but him and them. Now with the Azure here for a day, all of his former coworkers were quick to chat him up along the way- conversations to which Esredes was torn between tuning out or listening intently. He could get information about what happened to his people in the war if he did, but something told him they wouldn't talk about it.
When their little league of diplomats had to present ideas and proposals to the Houses, Esredes didn't get to stand with them and speak despite his position. It would cause too much unrest, he was told time and time again. So he sat from the stands and took notes, always hoping they didn't get anything he said wrong, and sometimes they did. How could they fully understand from their position, after all? They turned when it was simple. Easy. Convenient. They never had to suffer like him. They had the best of both worlds, as no one ever admonished them for 'working with the enemy' like they did Esredes. They didn't turn up their eyes in suspicion if he even mentioned it. They did what was easy, and the world showered them in praise. All the while, Esredes remained the foolish mortal who was in the stands, or watching them chat amongst each other about their glory days as they praised the Azure Dragoon for his heroism.
Perhaps it wasn't their fault that the world gave them everything Esredes wished he had, and he knew this. He liked his coworkers, and they accepted him. But it was moments like when they all turned away and talked to the Azure that he wondered, as he often did, just how long it would be until he was finally fired from the position.
And if they truly wanted him in it at all, or if he was just a means to an end.

Twenty first chapter
Masterlist
___________________________________________________
The leader was with Heimerdinger in his room and you were in yours, their voices seeped through the wooden ceiling and filled the silence. They were talking about the blue marbles, Heimerdinger called them gemstones. You were bored out of your mind, your broken arm was held in fixation and there wasn't much you could do. Thank god it wasn't your main arm. You slumped over your desk, doodling. You weren't particularly good at it, but at the moment, it sufficed.
Someone knocked on your door.
"Come in!"
You stood up from your chair and stacked the papers with drawings, laying around your desk. Scar's oldest daughter opened the door and shyly went in.
"Hi [reader], I was wondering if you wanted to come play with us!"
She chirped and you nodded, coming closer to her.
"I mean, sure!"
You agrees with her and her face lit up. She grabbed your healthy hand and begun pulling you out of your room.
"We changed the rules, so it's fair for you!"
"Oh really? Tell me."
"We can't use the hoverboards and everyone has to hold one of their arms behind their back!"
You chuckled and followed the girl down the stairs around the tree's trunk.
Few more kids waited near the painted pillar for you to come to them. It was so sweet actually. The kids cheered and ran over to you, one of them slapped you on the leg and begun to ran away from you.
"Tag, you're it!"
The others fleed from you in all directions, you picked one and gave chase, catching up to them quickly and gently tapping them on the shoulder. They turned around and smiled, turning again and chasing someone else. All of them had one hand behind their back and you played until everyone started to get exhausted.
You placed your healthy hand against a nearby wall and breathed quickly, trying to catch your breath. Few of the kids were sitting in a circle and flicking marbles around. You came over to them and asked a girl with curly brown hair what the game was. She explained that they have one marble in the center and they take turns trying to get the closest without touching it.
"Do you wanna play too?"
"No, I'm gonna go do something else for now, but if you miss me too much, come and get me!"
You smiled at her and she nodded, you left them to their thing and walked around, looking for something to do.
You thought of going to look into the kitchen, but it didn't take you long to change your mind, cooking just wasn't for you, especially not when you had only one hand available. But maybe you could keep company to someone, you just had to find who. Yet before you could, your name rang through the air.
"[Reader]!"
Came from the top of the tree in a familiar voice. You looked up and layed your eyes on Ekko, waving at you, before he jumped off on a hoverboard and flew down to you.
"How's the arm?"
You held up your arm and he inspected the cast.
"It's fine, I'm just so fucking bored."
He chuckled a little at your words and nodded.
"I get that, but you gotta let it heal properly."
"I know, I know, there's just not that much I can do with one arm ya know."
"Mhmmmm."
He nodded again and let your arm go, then he grabbed his board and jumped on, again stretching one arm towards you.
"C'mon, I wanna show you somethin'."
You gladly accepted his arm and hopped on too, letting him hold you by your waist before flying up towards his room.
You were pretty much used to it by now and skillfully hopped off when he stopped on his balcony. He followed you and opened his door, letting you in before closing it. He pushed you lightly towards his desk and came to your side. You looked over the various gadgets lying on it, he picked one of them up. It was a pocket watch, the same he used in the fight with Jinx. But it looked less broken then before?
"You fixed ittt or?..."
He smiled and handed it to you.
"Yeah, bit I had to replace some damaged parts. Though I didn't let those go to waste eighter."
He rummaged through the mess again and pulled out a chain with a circular locket on it, made out of various small scraps of metal
"Consider this as payment."
You looked at the necklace in his hand and then back to him confused
"Payment for what?"
"Oh you know, just for saving my life, nothing important."
Ekko replied sarcastically and turned you by your shoulders so that your back was now facing him, before uncliping the chain and putting it around your neck and closing it back up.

@dawnedon / (cont.)
It was supposed to be a normal day for once, even having enough time on both sides for a bit of time in person with his favorite champion. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? Some more unpleasant words about their least favorite league admins, maybe even the time for some casual battle the 'mons had been itching for.
( he won't mention how needed this kind of distraction was, on that specific kind of day. )
And yet.
Tumblr media
"—!"
That was him, wasn't it? Even when he only caught a glimpse of blond and what he knows to be a sharp glare he's seen one too many times, most of it overshadowed by the dragon type at his side— he had no doubt about it, and that damn Garchomp of his lingers for a moment too long, knows he's there and it's as if it can hear his heartbeat, staring right at him as if it was debating whether or not to act on that impulsive anger he had all but drilled into his team as a second instinct and always ready to attack, pounce and tear and—
Even if he had any words to scrape out of a dry throat, he can feel his voice cracking, hands clammy and suddenly it's like all the air was sucked right out of his lungs. Volkner isn't really listening, is he? As if everything around him was muffled, plunged right underwater and drowning there.
This isn't good—
( the only thing keeping him really away right now was dawn's presence right at his side, wasn't it? he just can't ever really get away on his own— )
There's a careful bump against his leg, pulling him back just a bit, still distraught, still on the edge, but just enough to at least listen, even when it takes him far too much effort, eyes darting between Dawn and Lux for a moment, then just a bit more frantic as he looks around the area— there's no trace of that Garchomp anymore. It's not enough to get a frazzled mind to settle down and to feel like he can breathe again, but it's something, isn't it?
It's at least enough to let him focus just a little more on Dawn's word, some attempt to follow suit and keep track of his breaths, as deep as he could manage through the dizziness still trying to settle in. When words keep failing him, the only answer he can muster up is a sharp nod, maybe just a bit too quick when he's trying to fight off that lightheaded feeling, but— Volkner just can't really bring himself to care when he's just trying to keep himself focused on the moment.
He just needs to get out of there.

( eddie liu, cismale, he/him ) have you met alexander zhu yet? you know, the 24 year old undergraduate student. i think they’re a senior majoring in sports management. ring a bell yet? every time i walk past their dorm i hear enemy by imagine dragons blasting through the door. everyone who meets them say they’re hardworking but can also be a little insecure. guess when you meet them you’ll figure that out yourself. — charlie, 29, she/they, gmt, none
active, charming, jokester, competitive, observant, critical, trusting, determined, hard working, friendly, calculating, envious
MINI BIO
alexander 'alex' zhu, the only child born to two chinese immigrant parents in new york city. his parents ran a small noodle shop out of chinatown and they live in a rather small apartment just above the store. his parents are by no means well off, but alex will always say that they were the happiest and will stand by his parent's cooking being the best in the state until the day he dies.
always an active and friendly boy, his parents signed him up for all kinds of different sports clubs, but it was only baseball he took a real shine to. he started playing for a local team as a first baseman, but switched to catcher not long after, after he filled in for a few games and the coaches recognized the talent for the position.
alex absolutely thrived on the little league team even from a very young age. he picked up an innate ability for calling plays from behind home plate, getting into the head of the hitters and bringing out the best in the pitchers on the mound. he was also a decent hitter, with high batting average and lots of power behind his swing.
though, the young alex always had dreams of playing in the major leagues and his parents were always incredibly supportive of his dream. They paid for all his catching gear, private training with top coaches and all the funding to help him travel across america for training camps and competitions. they just wanted to see their son happy and thriving and were willing to do anything for it to happen.
not to say he was completely useless in the classroom, either. alex was just as hardworking with his textbooks as he was with a baseball. well liked by his classmates and his teammates, known as a jokester in the classroom as well as in the dugout. he constantly achieved good grades, somehow managing to juggle his very busy academic life with his filled up baseball schedule as well.
all through high school alex always had his eyes set on the mlb and making it to the majors. nothing else in the world mattered to him. he worked hard, played his best and really shone every second he was out on the baseball field.
the hard work paid off and once he graduated high school he was eventually picked up by the astros. finally, his dream was starting to take shape. though it wasn't straight to the majors, alex had to pay his time in the minor leagues, chugging his way through the farm system of double-a baseball first. but really, he didn't mind the work, he was only a few steps away from getting on the big stage.
however, dreams are made to be broken and the whole plan went tits up only one year later when injury struck. alex tore two muscles in his right shoulder, putting him out of commission for the rest of the season. the recovery period was long and there was talk he would never be able to throw and bat again like he used to. the dream of every making it to the majors was over for him. after one year of physio and working to try and get back to his best form, alex was quietly dropped from the team with little fanfare.
he was distraught, returning home to new york. but alex was not a quitter, he kept working hard and training every single day. he decided to backtrack to college baseball, enrolling in radcliffe not long after.
if there was one thing his injury didn't take from him, it was still his ability to control the defence. he works to make the pitcher shine, upsetting the offence. and he's still not a bad batter, switching to a more contact than power kind of guy, putting himself in the mind of the catch to predict which pitch he might get next and hitting to get on base.
alex has not given up on his dream, he's fully recovered from his injury and is working hard to get noticed by the big leagues once more. his time on the big stage will come, and he's more than willing to put in the work to get there.

Talk about your relationship with Reshiram :D
Reshiram, the majestic white dragon of truth, one of the legends of Unova. Somehow, a creature that Svern was bonded to.
He remembered with perfect clarity everything surrounding them and their awakening: from the moment that he first held the dormant Light Stone in his hands, and carrying it with him as it lay silent, all the way on the long road, into the castle that had sprung from the ground around the Pokemon League, through into the great throne room within.
He remembered how the Light Stone had stayed silent even then. He remembered his own calm acceptance that he, being the lying thing that he was, being so far from what could be considered an ideal hero, must have been in the wrong to take it after all. How he'd known this all along, and had still taken it and gone there on his own two feet anyway.
He remembered the air heavy with pressure when Zekrom came at N's call, the entire hall shaking with its roar; its blinding, ferocious electricity. Still Svern could only remember feeling that calm acceptance. He'd been ready for this outcome. He'd had a feeling, for a long time, that he was intruding on something, and known that he wasn't suited for this. Whether you believed in fate or not was irrelevant. Anyone could tell.
Then had it been his own heart that skipped a beat when, against all his expectation, the Light Stone had suddenly responded, or had that been a second and more powerful heartbeat resonating with his own?
Maybe it was both.
Tumblr media
"It's complicated. Both of us are painfully aware that I'm far from his ideal hero. I'm just the person who happened to be there, because I put myself there, against better judgement. He may have accepted me in the moment, but we've had plenty of friction since then."
Still, it had been years now, and the bond hadn't broken yet.
Svern also remembered watching the Light Stone, rapt, as it drew in vitality from the space around it and expanded into its true form, and the blazing heat that issued forth from Reshiram's awakening, so intense that Andromeda had sprung into action to shield him from the flames.
N's words explaining the sudden intrusion Svern sensed on his dull heart as the white dragon's declaration that they were going to test him.
And, in the face of that great power, and the upcoming battle — how he had laid bare his heart before them. Whether they deemed him worthy and accepted him as an ally, or found him repulsive and he was consumed by their incinerating fire, Svern both acknowledged who he was and the situation he was in and left the rest to their decision.
It was the only thing he could do, and somehow it was enough.
Tumblr media
"He knows everything about me, including each and every flaw. There's nothing I can hide from him. I know that there are things I do that pain him, and I do them anyway. He knows why I do them, but it still hurts him. He's trying to help me, you know. He thinks I can be better."
Svern paused, slowly breathing in, slowly breathing out a sigh. Right now, his eyes looked neither falsely bright nor sharp; just... weary.
Tumblr media
"...For years now he's been excruciatingly patient with me. For years, I've dug in my heels and kept behaving like I do. I know in my mind how I could better match his image of what I could be, but I don't."
He could feel Reshiram's bewilderment and concern, but it didn't move him enough to do anything about it. Svern made for a good hero of truth the same way a good knife cut through to the core no matter how it looked. Neither it nor the job it did was pretty. There were nicer choices out there, but this one was functional and happened to be the one you had on hand, so it would have to do. Maybe with some care, you could fix up the splintered handle so that it didn't rub your skin raw as you held it.
He did wonder sometimes, if one day they would truly get fed up with him.

Ok, my amended list for book asks: 24, 29, 42
Ooh, thank you Sliebman! Here we go!
24. a book on your nightstand
A few, but one of them is curently 'Tis by Frank McCourt! I loved Angela's Ashes, so when I found the sequel in a second hand bookshop I knew I had to buy it. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I have high hopes! (Which is also why it's one of the books in the "read soon" pile xD)
29. your favourite YA novel
Probably Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Coifer. I have only read the first book, but it's an absolute riot. The machiavellic young protagonist who does have a heart somewhere, the fairy cop out to prove her value, the twists and turns, they were so much fun! And the humor was also on top so yeah, even as an adult this is a big rec from me 😁
42. a book that made you want to scream by the time you got to the end
Scream, uummm... scream how? Let's see 😅
Scream in rage: Jean Auel's Land of the Painted Caves. Oh my god. Oh. My. God. I am still not over how much Jondalar suddenly sucked in this! Like seriously? Seriously? You have a main character who can do everything: she invented the wheel, domesticated the first dog and the first cat, inventeed shampoo and I'm supposed to believe she'd settle for that jealous, possessive, stone-for-brains jock???? Also, wth, why is magic a thing now less than 50 pages into the last of a 6 book series??? Why is she dreaming of cars in the paleolithic era, what is this the Flinstones???? Why did you make me wait ten years and made me settle for this???? Aaaaaagh!!!
Scream in joy: Ok, I admit I squealed a little reading Naomi Novik's Blood of Tyrants. It's just... an amnesia plot, and utterly gorgeous worldbuilding as usual with the Japanese dragons and the VERY NOT SUBTLE Laurence/Tharkay shipping and MORE assassins and the ANGST everywhere, that book hit so many of the tropes that I either like or are guilty pleasures of mine you can't even imagine 🙈 Wasn't so happy with the cliffhanger but... League of Dragons was worth the minor annoyance 😁
