so there's this thing which I've dubbed academic fiction, where I write a long, precise academic paper, confirming to your citation model of choice and everything, except every single thing in there is made up. anyway if I made a zine that was a pretend-academic journal full of only that would anyone be interested in reading it

One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.
When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.
It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.
To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

its so weird seeing posts that mock uncle jim for worrying about li ming's queerness as though his dead boyfriend's parents (legally) stealing his entire life savings and leaving him to manage a restaurant business specifically because gay couples aren't legally recognized as couples wasn't what put him in a cycle of crushing debt and endless poverty in the first place

Could you explain your position on Shallura? Since Allura was established as a teenager when she started dating Lance and Shiro was very clearly an adult. I can understand the bi shiro headcannon but the shallura thing worries me
i am going to remind yall that i have been in this fandom since 2016. and in the early seasons, allura was not established as a teenager. in fact she was coded as older, as closer to shiro's age -- there was a specific divide between her and the younger paladins that she did not have with shiro. they made her younger (both explicitly and in mannerisms) as the show went on. and i do not give a fuck about voltron like...post s4 and i didn't even watch s7-8. so like. especially with older fics, im going to enjoy shallura.

HERMIT A DAY MAY - DAY 12
Jono x Cowboy Bebop
For day 12 I chose Jono and drew him in the style of Cowboy Bebop!
Don't know who Jono is?
Well, are you a Hermitcraft fan?
Then yes you do.
Jono is the incredibly talented musician behind, among other songs:
Work!
Hermitcraft Theme Song
Doc's Intro and Timelapse Music (The Goatfather and G.O.A.T)
Skizzleman Farts
''The Hermitcraft Horn Song'' (HornyCraft)
Please Hold
Please Hold (Too) Unhinged
His most recent song is Impulse's new timelapse music, CYBERPULSE
If you haven't listened to CYBERPULSE yet, go listen to it right now. It's SO cool and I'm not biased because I am the robot voice in the beginning
Anyway, I chose Jono for this because he does not get enough hype! He makes incredible music and he streams on Twitch too!
Note: Jono's Twitch streams are like, barely PG-13 on a well-behaved day. You've been warned.
I thought Cowboy Bebop worked well for Jono because Cowboy Bebop has a great jazz-inspired soundtrack yada yada yada who cares. if you wanna know more about Cowboy Bebop and see style references you can google it, this post is bout Jono.
Go give Jono some love. :)

I want a fix-it fic where Lucerys actually plucks out his own eye in front of at least a dozen witnesses and his uncle in Lord Baratheon’s hall.
He raises the dagger to his face, and Aemond, who only wanted to scare the boy, yells at his nephew to stop, but it’s too late. Lucerys, bleeding and dizzy with pain, walks on wobbly legs towards Aemond and hands his eye to him. “Your mother’s gift, Uncle,” and he passes out. A stunned Aemond carries his unconscious nephew to Vhagar, and together, with Arrax following close behind them, the trio fly to Dragonstone, where Lucerys is given proper treatment by his family’s healers.
And Aemond...Aemond remains on Dragonstone of his own free will, sitting at Luke's bedside. Watching him. Guarding him.
Historians say that the incident at Storm's End was what marked the end of the Greens and their supporters, for not only did they lose the support of Lord Baratheon, but one of their best Dragonriders who swore himself to Lucerys Velaryon's service and remained at his nephew's side long after Rhaenyra was crowned Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.

My favorite version of fanon Stephanie's relationship with the batfam is where she's just, not a sibling but still a batkid? If that makes sense???
She is totally member of the batfam but she dated Tim so she can't call Tim her brother and thus calling the other batkids siblings or Bruce dad will be weird. She's usually best friends with Tim and Cass tho. Plus both her parents are alive.
As a vigilant, her direct superior in fics tends to be Oracle who also falls under the dated a batkid dynamic but more importantly Oracle does not work under batman. So she tends to run parallel to the others in the vigilant family tree.
But Bruce pays her tution/pocket money. She spends alot of her time at the Manor. Her favorite food is included in the meal plan by Alfred. She gets to pick a movie during movie night. She can walk upto Bruce and just ask for stuff and get them. Bruce has the same trust fund for her as he has for the other batkids.
She still isn't his daughter and she won't ever call him dad. She is still a member of the family.

So.
This is it, mobsters.... our final stand. When the poll starts on @autismswagsummit, go....... do your part.
[Short ID: a comic pertaining to the autism swag summit, featuring Mob and Tome. Mob reveals that he feels insecure about how seriously everyone's been taking this, and how he's not sure he likes all this attention on him for it, but Tome argues and encourages him, saying that his could help him get Tsubomi's attention, since she's autistic herself, and might appreciate Mob being more confident about that. In the end, Mob brightens up, and gets pumped to win the bracket, before it's revealed that Tsubomi actually hopes Papyrus wins. End short ID]
Extended ID under cut:
[ID: a comic pertaining to the autism swag summit, featuring Mob and Tome. It's done in pink and orange tones, except for the last panel, which is purple.
First page: Mob sits down at the table in the telepathy club room, sighing. Tome, who is playing a video game and eating fries, looks at him and asks: "? What's wrong, Mob?" Mob looks to the side, eyes downcast, and says: "It's nothing really... it's just- the autism contest thing. Everyone's taking it so seriously but- idk. It feels weird. Like Mezato-san's cult thing, kinda." Tome, meanwhile, slides him the fries, and he takes one, and continues, "I don't think I like all this attention on me. Not for this." and Tome looks at him, chin on hand, and asks: "But wasn't that like, one of your main goals? To be popular?"
Second page: at this, Mob startles, and in the next panel he shrinks in as he replies "um- yeah, but. To be honest, I only wanted that to-" and shrinks even further in the next, blushing, trailing off with "to..." Behind him, there is the tapping of footsteps as Tome, off screen, rounds the desk, and makes Mob jump with a loud SLAM, and yells "LISTEN, MOB!" Then, she is looking at him with a frown, gesturing with one hand, and continues: "You need to look at this from a different perspective. What if this is the contest that winning would aid you the most? After all, isn't Takane herself autistic?" Mob, eyes wide and blushing, loudly interrupts with "S-SHE IS??"
Third page: Mob asks, "How do you know??" Tome, her arms crossed, eyes closed and a smirk on her face, says "Look. I'm autistic. You're autistic. We're ALL autistic, I know my kin, alright?" Under her breath, (under the speech bubble) she also adds "Plus I kind of heard her say "Leave me alone, I'm autistic" once," before she interrupts herself, her arms spread wide and flapping, with "but that's beside the point!" She continues in the next panel, only one of her moving hands visible as Mob looks up at her, wide-eyed, "My point is, maybe this is your chance to show her what you're all about; that you know who you are; are secure in your identity, proud of it, even!"
Fourth page: Tome crosses her arms again, a confident smirk on her face as she looks down at Mob and asks, "So tell me. What are you gonna do?" Mob, hunched in, shyly responds, ".... I'm gonna win...?" Off screen, Tome replies: "Say it with more confidence!" And Mob does, back straightening and a blush creeping in: "I- I'm gonna win!" Tome yells "Louder!", and Mob stands up, leaning on the table, yelling in response "I'm gonna WIN!!" And Tome, a fist pumped in enthusiasm, yells back "YEAH!!"
Last panel: Tome's dialogue box is cut off, as we see Tsubomi, meanwhile, laying in her bed, sucking a lollipop and phone in hand, as she thinks: "I hope papyrus wins." End ID.]

My original sketch/idea had the two of them actually alright and safe in Dream Land, just plagued by memories, they being the lone “survivors” of having their Souls weaponized...
...Then cursed True Arena lore kicked in and now they’re not okay but since the Master Crown stole his eyes, Magolor can’t even see and he’s driven to hallucinating out of desperation and pain
Edit: I turned this into a whole mini series...
Part 2 “The Sun Never Sets”
Part 3 “Screams of Joy”
Part 4 “Visitors”
Part 5 “A Perfect Circle”
Relevant: “Conditional”
Prologue: “Selfish Needs”

You know, for as much as I've seen the head cannon that Aziraphale is autistic (at least, by human standards) I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone talking about the very real possibility that he scripted the conversation during the ineffable divorce and was majorly panicking when Crowley didn't respond in a way he'd prepared for. Like to me, a certified autistic, the way he talks in that scene sounds like he was running out of pre-written responses to get Crowley to agree to go with him, then proceeded to resort to a mixture of repeating himself and speaking from his desperation.
