Trouble of Mind
It's been a week. A week since Hero did something unacceptable. It wasn't exactly forbidden, more like a rule they imposed on themselves for ethical reasons. No matter how much they needed information reading Villain's mind was always out of the question.
They did it a week ago. Amidst the battle, for no particular reason. A thought had flickered behind Villain's gaze only to disappear in the dark pools. And Hero followed. Unconscious at first, an impulse that drew them in. That was the biggest mistake they had ever made. And it backfired.
Villain had no idea why they jerked away so quickly and accepted defeat just so they could escape. The contents of Villain's psyche traumatised them. The things that Hero saw inside their consciousness were disturbing, but what they found deep in Villain's unconscious mind sent reverberating waves through their body. Hero hasn't been able to sleep ever since - countless nightmares served as their only companions for seven long and lonely nights.
Hero sighs, brushing their hair back from their forehead. The sleepless nights were taking their toll on them. Dark bags had settled under their eyes, heavy with the knowledge of the secrets held in Villain's mind.
They hadn't attended to any of the challenges presented by their enemy in the week that ensued. It was not because of the lack of proper rest but rather rooted in their inability to face them after discovering things meant to be hidden. They hadn't left their house at all for the risk of running into someone they knew. Hence why the knock on their door didn't surprise them. They remained quiet for a long moment, waiting for the person to leave, and when the knocking seized, exhaled in relief and returned to their couch for another attempt of rest to turn into torment.
Except it did not. Hero lets out a content sighs, turning so that they are now lying on their back. They yawn, stretching to snap their muscles in place. It feels like a heavy burden has been lifted off of their shoulders. It's only when they try to open their eyes, that they realise something is off.
"What the f..." A hand on their chest prevents them from sitting up, then presses them back down. What the hell?
"Shh, it's just a compress," a familiar voice fills their ears, only increasing the panic. "Don't freak out."
"Villain?" Their throat goes dry. They reach for the cloth that's covering their eyes and forehead. Villain is seated by their bed with a glass of water ready.
"Drink this," Hero shakes their head, propping themselves up against the headboard. With a sigh, Villain takes a sip. "See? It's not poisoned. Just drink it, it'll help."
"What are you doing here?" And what am I doing here? They could bet they were on the couch a few minutes ago. How did Villain get into their apartment and move them without them waking up?
"Helping you deal with the consequences of your own actions," despite the sarcastic tone - Villain seems genuine in their concern. "You shouldn't have done that."
"Pardon?" They jolt, almost jumping in place. No one knew Hero had that ability. Villain couldn't possibly know. Right?
"You shouldn't have read my mind, babe." Hero's eyes widen in shock. Villain shrugs nonchalantly, taking the cloth from their hand. "My past is too much to handle even for myself."
"How did you..?" A million questions are circling in Hero's head, yet they cannot form a single full sentence.
"Gosh, for a mind reader, you are quite dense," Villain shakes their head, then presses a palm against Hero's burning forehead. Their fingers are gentle and cold, Hero almost leans into their touch. "Did you think I wouldn't feel you in my head?"
"I-I'm sorry," their heartbeat is accelerating, which doesn't help the fever, so they take a deep breath, attempting to steady themselves. "I really am. I didn't mean for it to happen."
"I know." Villain dips the compress into a bowl of ice water, then brushes Hero's hair back, wiping their forehead and temples. Hero lets out a content sigh, allowing their eyes to fall shut. "Why didn't you come to me?"
"What for?" They can feel the cloth against the bridge of their nose, then right behind their right ear.
"Help, obviously," Villain tilts their head for better access. "When was the last time you slept?"
"You know the answer to that," is all they can muster, their body relaxed under gentle touches. Villain nods, ignoring the fact that Hero's eyes are closed.
"Put a cold compress on your forehead and ice cubes on your pulse points - that helps." They stop their manipulations, and Hero has to stop themselves from huffing in complaint. Instead, they open their eyes to look at Villain. "I use essential oils and sleep in complete darkness when it gets bad."
"Do you have them often?" Hero's voice is barely above a whisper, but Villain hears.
They nod with a heavy sigh and focus their gaze on Hero's ear, which is crimson red. They wonder if it's a reaction to the cold or their touch. "That's what failed brainwashing does to you, babe."
Hero freezes for a second. When they finally speak, their voice is coarse. "I'm sorry."
Villain offers them a quiet smile before getting up. "Come find me if you still can't rest," they say over their shoulder and vanish before Hero has a chance to thank them.
Hero knows they've made a mistake. A mistake that makes it hard to breathe and almost impossible to sleep. One that led them into the dreams and nightmares of their nemesis. One that gave them a chance to repair the damage they've unearthed and - potentially - heal Villain's troubled mind.
They know they've made a mistake, so when the sun begins to set on the horizon, they knock on Villain's door.

Sick, Delirious Hero
"Lemme go!" Hero slurred, "your restraints can't hold me forever!"
Villain pinched the bridge of their nose. The "restraints" Hero was referring to were a couple of soft, plush blankets tucked tightly around their shivering body. Hero was currently laying in Villain's bed, and they were as sick as a dog. Villain put a hand to Hero's forehead. Still feverish. That might explain the delirium.
"Hero, I haven't captured you," Villain said, "you're at my base because you're sick and no one was taking care of you, remember?"
"Lies!" Hero yelled hoarsely, "I'll have you behind bars when I get out of this!"
"I'm sure you will," Villain sighed, "but until then, how about you take some medicine for me, yeah?"
Villain sat Hero up against the pillows and poured some medicine onto a spoon.
"Open up," Villain said.
"I'm not going to let you poison me!" Hero said weakly, "I- mmph!"
Villain shoved the spoon into Hero's mouth.
"Good, now swallow," Villain said.
"Mm-mm!" Hero shook their head vigorously.
"Hero, if you don't swallow the medicine, I'll... I'll kidnap someone for ransom!"
Hero's eyes widened. After a couple of seconds, they swallowed the medicine.
"Your poison tastes terrible," Hero said.
"Medicine, Hero," Villain corrected, "I need that fever of yours to break, now try to get some sleep."
Villain laid Hero back down in the bed. Hero's eyes remained stubbornly open.
"Hero."
Hero glared up at Villain. Villain struggled to stay calm. How long was this delirium going to last? Villain absent-mindedly ran a hand through Hero's hair while they tried to think. Was drugging them an option? Villain could always crush up some sleeping pills and slip them in some tea, but then again, it was a fight just to get Hero to take their medicine. Maybe a round of hypnosis? No, that probably wouldn't work either.
"Hhng," Hero whined.
Startled, Villain looked down at Hero.
"What's wrong?"
"Don' wanna sleep," Hero yawned, "you can't... make me."
Something glinted in Villain's eyes as realization hit them. They continued to card their hand through Hero's hair, their touch feather-light.
"S-stop it," Hero said, their voice barely audible and their eyes blinking heavily.
"Oh, I don't think I will," Villain whispered, "you need to sleep. I wonder what would happen if I just..."
Villain started to lightly massage Hero's scalp, giving them gentle scratches all the way to the nape of their neck. Hero fought to keep their eyes open, but they shortly fluttered closed. Hero's breathing became deep and even; they were fast asleep. Villain smiled. They leaned down and kissed Hero's forehead lightly, careful not to wake them. They petted Hero's hair for a few more minutes until they quietly got up and left the room. Hopefully, Hero would be more lucid when they woke up.

Random prompt #64
TW: implied injury, implied transformation, freezing mention, whump (aftercare)
"Hero, darling, it's okay," Supervillain cooed, taking a few hesitant steps forward with their hands raised in front of them as if approaching an upset wild animal.
The battered hero scurried backward, hand still pressed to the injury on the side of their torso. Their state was horrible; drenched in blood and littered with bruises, cuts and gashes. And judging by Hero's constant shivering, freezing.
They snarled, baring teeth that were much too sharp from what Supervillain remembered vividly. That shining grin was replaced with something more predatory, animalistic even. The sight made the master villain's stomach drop, anger simmering in their blood.
What had Supervillain done?
Hero had always been fragile, as much as they hated to admit it. They panicked over mistakes they made years ago, some much more intense than others. They weren't able to save every person, they knew that, but that didn't mean it didn't sting. It only got worse when they knew deaths of innocents were their fault.
They never wanted to be a monster. They didn't want to be a monster.
"Oh, Hero..." The criminal took a few steps forward before dropping to their knees on the cold cement floor of the holding cell. They held out their arms in a silent invitation.
Hero startled back a bit more before growing still, their eyes - different. Too different. - scanning the human. A glint of realization sparked their expression and they all but launched themselves at Villain, letting out a dry sob of relief but also pain from the sudden movement.
"I know, I know, darling. Just stay still," Villain murmured, one hand carding through Hero's hair in gentle motions. "I'll get you home, and I'ĺl keep you safe. I promise, Hero."

Prompt #3203
“-and don’t forget to eat before you go out on patrol! Anyone would think your powers let you subsist on coffee alone. Which, I’d like to remind you, they certainly do not.”
“Who died and elected you my guardian?”
“I’ve killed a lot of people, so probably one of them." They searched the area, then lifted up on tiptoes to press a kiss to their nemesis' cheek. "Be careful, alright? I worry."

prompt by @avvail
The hero didn't say a word. Not when they were hurriedly hauled into an ambulance by the paramedics, not when they were practically pleaded to emit some sound about how and where and why they hurt, neither when they felt a bone sparking burn in their back or when their wounds screamed in soft, flesh bleeding agony.
Not like they had anything to say with how mushy their brain felt. As if all the wires melted and they couldn't put two plus two together, as if they were still stuck midst alternating between jumping in to help the remainder of the mob stuck in the pit or whisk off the others they had saved to a safer location.
God they tried their best, for the sake of everything, hoping there weren't any casualties for seriously, what use would the sinking feeling of the ground beneath them -breaking into splinters- would have? What was the use of them feeling so huddled into suffocation for God knows how long was, if they couldn't save everyone while getting themselves into such a mess?
They didn't scream or call out for help, they were simply too exhausted to and no matter where they were stuck -in the thick concrete mess of a rubble or the walls of their mind that refused to leave them alone- not one shred of their exhaustion felt solid. So omnious, so vaporized, numb, numb all over. Alone, shivering even in the lightest bounce of wind, the dream-catcher in their room tinkling it's metallic leaves as if trying to hum their fears into little beads that could vanish.
Trying, trying, trying...they were trying.
They inhaled, closing and opening their eyes slowly only to gradually notice the soft thump of steady footsteps heading towards them and creak of doors opening, a familiar silhouette reaching them before clicking the side lamp on and assessing their condition.
The hero sat still, stuck in a daze as if they were placed on a beam so high, as if moving an inch would lead to a fall deeper than in the pit they had fallen a few days ago except something happened and they unknowingly nodded at the villain in affirmation, giving them the permit to walk on the same beam they were stuck on.
And so they fell.
Down in the pit, waiting for the ground to hit and knock the breath out of them before another thunderous rubble would fall on them except this time instead of them reflexively gnawing at their flesh and pulling their hair in anxiety, they wrapped their arms around the villain who was on the verge of taking them in.
Just the right moment when the villain held them close to their chest, an arm wrapped around them keeping all their frame so closely huddled in warmth and perhaps, that is when their plight to the ground stopped.
Slow..still..steady.
A gurgle of help urged out of their lips, soft sobs of how they were so confused. Not angry, not sad, but confused beyond means. Of where they were and what they had to do and if anything they did till today was ever right, they were a mess, a mess collected in a safety nest, getting their time to break apart as they wished to, safely.
"H-how do I get up tomorrow? In this state..h-how?" they muttered in their sobbing frenzy, only to have their tears wiped gently. Villain soothingly rubbed the nape of their neck as they got seated on the bed, willing to make promises they knew they would keep.
"You don't have to push yourself into getting better, love. You of all people should know how slow that process tends to be."
"B-but-"
"You're allowed to take time, hero," they whispered while gently pulling the hero's entire frame in their arms, their voice accompanying the tinkles of that of the humming dream-catcher, "you're allowed."
"It's okay, right?"
"It is, absolutely, okay."
The hero curled into the villain's arms, a wave of shivers coursed their body before settling in for gentle sobs finally trying to release all the pent up knots of frustrated ambiguity. Their body covered in warmth, soothing hands resting on their back: finally a little okay with falling, knowing they would be caught and held.
Finally be held.

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

It's shenanigans time guys
So have this DpxDc idea.
So, the Justice League and the Light (OR villains in general) have two newish members, they've both been around for about a year and they're from the same plane of existence (a place called the Infinite Realms according to those who dabble in the occult)
And the two seem to have some serious beef with each other.
Wisp and Wrath are basicly feral cats hissing and hekles raised when they spot the other and their fights normally ends in draws. They're evenly matched and sometimes the two even fight to the point they are out of steam and just fist fight.
Needless to say everyone believes they totally hate each other and might one day kill (or end?) One of them.
So everything gets turned upside down when suddenly both factions of heros and villains are suddenly summoned to the Infinite Realms.
In a throne room.
In front of the Infinite King (or most commonly known as the Ghost King)
A King who looks very, very much like Wisp and Wrath (like yeah the two do sometimes look alike, like when they grin with sharp teeth and their hair color, but one has blue skin and red eyes for crying out loud!)
He's staring at them, glowing green eyes that seemed to just... know.
"Welcome to the Infinite Realms. I am King Phantom." His voice echoing in the throne room and seemed to rattle them deeply, like a sudden chill in the early morning.
"I have summoned you all here for a single reason." He continued to say "Tell me..."
Here he paused, closed his eyes before leaning back on the chair then he smiled big and cheerfully asked.
"How are my kids doing in your world? Dan and Ellie arent causing too much chaos in their wake are they? They tend to go a tiny bit overboard sometimes but what siblings don't when they rough house you know. Tell me everything."

Sick, Delirious Hero- Part 3
part 1, part 2
“Hhng.”
Startled, Villain looked up from the book they were reading to see Hero tossing and turning in their sleep. They were having a nightmare. Villain crossed the room and gently shook Hero’s shoulder.
“Hero,” Villain whispered, “wake up, you’re okay.”
Hero woke up with a scream; they bolted upright in bed. Their eyes darted around wildly until they landed on Villain. Tears sprung into Hero’s eyes as they hugged Villain tightly. Villain froze, a blush creeping into their cheeks. Hero’s whimpers quickly snapped them out of their trance though, and they wrapped their arms around Hero, rubbing soothing circles into their back.
“Shh, it’s okay,” Villain said, “you’re safe. It was just a bad dream.”
“I-it was so real,” Hero sobbed.
“I know, I know,” Villain soothed, “but it’s over now. You’re okay, I promise.”
Hero sniffled and reluctantly pulled away. They looked into Villain’s eyes. Their face turned pink as they looked away.
“I’m sorry,” Hero whispered, “I-I didn’t mean to-”
“Hero, don’t be sorry,” Villain said, gripping Hero’s shoulders. Villain tilted their head to meet Hero’s eyes, “it’s okay.”
Hero sniffled again and nodded. Villain let go of their shoulders and stood up.
“Since you’re awake, how about some dinner?” Villain offered, “you’ve been sleeping since lunch, you’re probably hungry by now.”
Hero wiped their tears away and nodded. They went to get out of bed, but Villain gently maneuvered them back under the covers.
“You stay there,” Villain said gently, “I don’t want you moving around until you’re a little better.”
Villain went to leave, but Hero grabbed their arm.
“Can I please come with you?” Hero pleaded, “I-I don’t want to be alone.”
Villain’s face softened; they really didn’t want Hero up and about so soon, they were still sick after all, but the sight of Hero’s face broke down any resistance Villain had.
“Alright.”
Villain helped Hero out of bed and escorted them to the kitchen. Hero was pretty wobbly on their feet, and Villain was worried they were going to pass out at any given moment, but soon enough Hero was sat down in a chair, any signs of them feeling faint gone. Villain set about reheating the soup from earlier. When it was reheated, they poured some into two bowls and handed one to Hero. Hero shakily picked up their spoon and began to eat. Villain followed suit.
“Thank you,” Hero said.
“It’s an easy recipe, I can teach you if you want-”
“No, I mean, thank you for not leaving me alone.” Hero said.
“Of course, Hero.”
When they were finished eating, Villain helped Hero back to their room and pulled the covers up to their chin. Hero’s eyes blinked heavily, but every time it seemed like they were drifting off, they jerked awake.
“What’s wrong?” Villain asked, brows furrowed.
“I’m afraid to sleep,” Hero confessed in a small voice.
Villain thought for a moment. Could they…? No, that was a terrible idea, and yet… Hero looked so miserable being sick and afraid, Villain couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
“Would you, um,” Villain started slowly, “would it help if I climbed in bed with you?”
No sooner had Villain finished their sentence that Hero weakly gripped their arm and pulled them into the bed. Villain stumbled forward and climbed in. Hero immediately snuggled closer to Villain. Villain felt heat creep up their cheeks as they realized how close they were to Hero, and they couldn’t help but notice Hero’s face was decorated with its own blush. Without thinking, Villain wrapped an arm around Hero and stroked their hair.
“Just go to sleep,” Villain whispered, “I’m right here.”
Hero nodded and closed their eyes. Villain waited for Hero’s breathing to deepen before they stopped petting their hair. Villain’s eyes started to droop. They hadn’t slept properly since bringing Hero to their base, and their exhaustion was finally catching up with them. Villain slowly drifted off with Hero still in their arms.

"Why can't I help?" Civilian huffed, crossing their arms as they tried to move into a more intimidating stance.
"Because I can't let you get hurt," Villain stated with no room for argument in their tone, moving to cup their partner's face and press a kiss on their forehead.

Desperate Villain Danny AU
(this is a 17 yr old danny)
It started out slowly.
First, a few of Danny's less active Rouges stopped showing up at all. He didn't really notice, and just assumed that they had finally had their Fill of their Obsession for a while and would simmer down for a bit.
Then, some more of his Rouges stopped showing up. No big deal, but he is getting a little concerned for them. They had definitely not had their fill of their Obsessions yet, why did they stop?
Then, the worst started happen. All of his actual Ghost Friends start to disappear. Ember, Kitty, Johnny, even Amorpho, they all start to not show up at all in the Living World.
He goes looking for them in Realms, but he can't find any of them whatsoever. He tries asking around, but everybody else noticed the disappearances much earlier than him and began to hide away from whatever was taking all of the strong Ghosts. He can't find anybody, and the ones he does find won't tell him anything (or don't know themselves)
It takes weeks of searching, but eventually he gets his answer.
The GIW show up in Amity again after a period of absolutely no activity. They have stepped up their operations HARD. Advanced Ghost Hunting Equipment, Much more Competent Agents, and most worrying of all, they seem to know that Phantom is friends with Sam, Tucker, and Danny Fenton.
The GIW comes to his house for a Meeting with his parents, where he overhears them offering his parents a position in their Organization as Head Scientists. While there they also manage to plant Bugs in Danny's room somehow. Although he finds them quickly enough and destroys them.
And then, one night during dinner while his parents are ranting about the GIWs Labs, they mention something that cinches it for Danny.
"And today we even got to Dissect one of the Spooks! It was that Mind Controlly one, you know the one with the blue firey hair stuff that sang a bunch! We're going back tomorrow to continue our Study, this time we'll see how long it'll pretend to experience pain before it decides to give up on tricking us!"
That night, Danny packed up all his things, destroyed the Ghost Portal alongside everything else in his parents Lab, and left his house.
He tracked down the GIW Base, saved Ember from her Cell, and decimated the surrounding Area. No survivors, none of the research is preserved, and he left the Site Director alive to question him.
Turns out, the GIW had managed to Reverse Engineer the Ghost Portal from that brief period of time where they had taken control of Fenton Works. They had been using their own Portal to kidnap any Ghost they could get their hands on. Using the research from those subjects, they perfected their Ghost Hunting Tech and started going after the bigger fish.
"But good luck finding it, Ecto Scum! The Portals location was hidden to everybody, even me!" He said.
"Where are the others!" Danny cried. He was losing control of his appearance by this point. After seeing what they had done to Ember, he was too angry to maintain his Humanoid Form successfully. Even now, with most of his control, he could hear the Static in the air around him, and see the Glitching of his hands as they clenched this Monsters clothes.
"Scattered!" He said with a crazed laugh, "We knew we couldn't contain all of them, so we send them to all of our sites across the Country! You'll never find them!"
Without another word, Danny plowed his arm through the man's chest.
He turned around, picking up Embers weakened Body, before beginning his long flight to Wisconsin. Vlad still owed him a few Favors after all, and honestly his mentorship offers seemed VERY Tempting right now.
(Why reject him if you don't care about keeping your dad alive anymore?)
...
The JLA had recently received a distress signal from somewhere in the middle of some random Forest in Illinois, but when they got to the location, all they found was a crater filled with the ruins of some kind of Military Base, and so so many Bodies.
They had managed to figure out that this was a Government Site owned by an organization called the GIW. A Paranormal Investigation Wing of the Government focused on the study and capture of Supernatural Beings called Ecto-Entities, otherwise referred to as Ghosts.
As it turns out, an Ecto-Entity that had been terrorizing the local town for a few years now had made a drastic change in normal behavior and had attacked the GIW Base that had been posted there.
They would have destroyed it years ago, but this one was unnaturally powerful. It had eluded their capture and terrorized the Town for years, but they had too much pride to contact the JLA and admit that they needed help. And honestly until now, they didn't really need it. The Entity had been entirely confined to the singular town, and had not strayed from that behavioral Pattern in the 3 years since it's inital sighting. They had made the difficult choice to leave it there, sacrificing one town in exchange for the rest of the country.
But now they did need their help. This Entity, this Phantom, was one of the most powerful beings that had ever recorded, maybe even The Most Powerful. The fact that it had left the Secluded town it usually frequented meant that it was loose to wreak havoc across the rest of the world.
The JLA Needed to Find this thing, and Fast.

Danny and Jazz were almost at the end of their rope.
They've checked almost everyone they knew who would take them in.
Sam's family? Didn't want them living under the same roof as their daughter.
Mr Lancer? He did actually want to take them in but his one bedroom apartment was not a suitable place for kids to live and his teachers salary couldn't afford to support three people.
Tucker's family? Got shut down by Vlad.
Which was the end of the list of who could get custody, well living at least.
There was no way either of them were living with Vlad, and with that in mind, they decided to get creative.
--------------------
When Edward woke up, sitting at an old interrogation table in what seemed to be an abandoned warehouse (don't ask him which one, gothem had too many) and splitting pain in his head from most likely getting knocked out, his first thought was I knew it.
Gotham rogues had been disappearing only to reappear the next day with no memory and often in bad shape, like black mask and Bane.
Some of the rogues, such as penguin and Ivy, believed that they would be safe from the next attack.
Edward was slightly more pessimistic.
And it turned out he was right.
"ahem." Noise brought his attention to the warehouses other occupants.
Two teenagers.
It was strange to think that these two put Bane into a coma, but Edward had spent most of his nights getting the stuffing beaten out of him by a child wearing the colours of a traffic light so he was suitably wary.
"How can I help you?" Being polite was always a good idea when kidnapped by possible meta children (because no normal person could walk away from a fight with Bane, the bats don't qualify as normal.)
"Hi, I'm Jazz and this is Danny." The red head introduced herself and the blue eyed boy next to her. "Nice to meet you Mr Nygma."
"Nice to meet you as well." His mouth responded on autopilot as he panicked over being addressed by name, no one who kidnapped him did that ( which was mostly the bats taking him back to Arkham after another foiled plan) unless they were Amanda Waller.
"Right, now that we all know each other, let's get started." Danny said pulling out a sheet of paper and star themed pen from somewhere.
"Get started on what?" Torture? Edward would really like to know if that was the case.
"The interview." Jazz explained " You just have to answer a few questions then you get to go, after we wipe your memory of course, we have someone who we don't want knowing we're in Gotham."
"Oh, of course." Edward replied faintly as he processed the information given to him.
"And if you get job we'll contact you in a week." Danny added as he twirled his pen. "Got it?"
"Yes." Edward had never been more confused in his life.
