"No Tech for Apartheid’s protest is as much about what the public doesn’t know about Project Nimbus as what it does. The contract is for Google and Amazon to provide AI and cloud computing services to the Israeli government and military, according to the Israeli finance ministry, which announced the deal in 2021.
Nimbus reportedly involves Google establishing a secure instance of Google Cloud on Israeli soil, which would allow the Israeli government to perform large-scale data analysis, AI training, database hosting, and other forms of powerful computing using Google’s technology, with little oversight by the company.
Google documents, first reported by the Intercept in 2022, suggest that the Google services on offer to Israel via its Cloud have capabilities such as AI-enabled facial detection, automated image categorization, and object tracking."

FFXIV Write Entry #24: [SELF-DETERMINATION PROTOCOLS]
Tumblr media
Prompt: bar || Master Post || On AO3 (coming in October)
--
Personality matrices were not efficient array programming, particularly those built by Mistress Synnove. They were open-ended pieces of magic, depending on external stimuli to be processed internally and facilitate “personal growth.”
The INTELLIGENT PERSONAL OBLIGANT AND MEDICAL OPERATIVE FOR EMERGENCY APPLICATIONS [Battlefield Call Sign: Ipomoea] was not certain she “liked” this. But Mistress Synnove and Senior Construct Galette had been [EMOTIONAL REFERENCE DATABASE QUERY: offended] at its lack of presence among her own programming. Mistress Synnove had made a variety of interesting noises Ipomoea had hither to been unaware Spoken could emit. After careful searching of her unfurled code, they had located the elements of a personality matrix.
Mistress Synnove had asked for Ipomoea’s permission first before proceeding with piecing together the matrix. Ipomoea still did not understand why. Was Mistress Synnove not her new summoner?
Senior Construct Galette had made a hacking noise similar to [AURAL REFERENCE DATABASE QUERY: cat with a hairball] and said to Mistress Synnove, Mama, we’re going to need to have the free will conversation with her at some point.
“Fuuuuuuuck.”
There were many things Ipomoea was noticing more with a full personality matrix running along with her most basic code. Many of these behaviors and observations she stored in her internal memory database, with copies backed up to the Azys Lla cloud storage facility.
Some, however, she opened and reviewed in moments of downtime, such as when Mistress Synnove took a nap and required a carbuncle present on her lap for “cuddles.” (Her purring subroutine had received a nearly five hundred percent increase in activation since the last time she had a summoner.) One of the curious behaviors she had noticed was the use of “nicknames.”
Secondary User Rereha frequently answered to the designation “Rere.” Secondary User Dancing Heron frequently answered to the designation “Heron.” Secondary User Alakhai did not have a second designation amongst the Spoken, but had the designation of “Aunt Ala” or “Auntie Ala” among Mistress Synnove’s constructs. Mistress Synnove, however, was never referred to with a shorter designation.
[Query: Mistress Synnove, why do you not answer to a “nickname?”] Ipomoea posited once.
Mistress Synnove had looked up from her grimoire, blinked, and performed a head tilt of roughly thirty-five degrees that indicated she was processing a suitable answer. “I like my full name,” she said eventually. “It’s pretty. And the most obvious nickname for it sounds similar to the word for serious offenses in some religious practices in Eorzea, which I don’t like. So, ‘Synnove’ it is for me.”
Ipomoea had let that answer run on loop for four bells in her memory banks.
The other carbuncles also did not answer to “nicknames.” Senior Construct Tyr and Senior Construct Ivar, of course, bore designations that did not shorten, though Senior Construct Ivar was addressed on occasion as “firebug.” Senior Construct Galette’s designation could shorten, but in an awkward manner. Junior Construct Amandina and Junior Construct Roksana, however, answered to nothing save their full designations or a number of appellations given to them such as “sparkler,” “nereid,” and “troublemaker.”
We like our names! Junior Construct Amandina had peeped when queried. I don’t like how “Ama” or “Dina” sound by themselves, and Roksana doesn’t like “Roxie” or “Sana,” so we ask to only be called Amandina and Roksana!
[Additional query: whom do you ask?]
Oh, whoever called us by those nicknames, Junior Construct Amandina said. Almost everyone always immediately stops doing it. Sometimes they need a reminder! But Mommy says if anyone doesn’t ever listen and keeps doing it after we keep asking, we’re allowed to bite them!
Junior Construct Amandina appeared to be [EMOTIONAL REFERENCE DATABASE QUERY: maliciously gleeful] about this.
Ipomoea was frequently addressed by her acronym call sign. Sometimes, she had been referred to as “Ippie.” The nickname was logical, particularly as her designation was an unusual syllabic construction, as well as being “cute.”
…However.
…Ipomoea did not like “Ippie.”
Two days after her discussion with Junior Construct Amandina, Secondary User Rereha was describing an Alliance combat simulation that she and Mistress Synnove had partaken in on Seal Rock. Ipomoea had been present at the combat simulation, too, providing aetheric shields and rendering first aid as needed.
“So there’s an Immortal Flames squad baring down on our position, but I’m focused on the asshole dark knight that’s been harrying us the whole damn day and Synnove’s got her eyes on a machinist who has absolutely not been using the frontline-approved ammo, and Ippie just throws up this shield that the squad literally bounces off of, it was so cool—”
[Query: Secondary User Rereha?]
Secondary User Rereha paused mid-gesticulation and glanced down at her, “Yeah, hon?”
(Mistress Synnove called her “hon,” too, as well as “honey” and “sweetheart” with great frequency. Ipomoea made a brief update to her processing that “endearments” were acceptable forms of address for herself.)
[Advisement: I have concluded that I do not “like” the designation “Ippie,”] Ipomoea said in her typical calm harmonic. [Request: Please refer to myself as “Ipomoea” when it is necessary to refer to me by my designation.]
“Sure thing, hon!” Secondary User Rereha grinned and reached out to scratch behind her ears.
Ipomoea initiated her purring subroutine. Ear scritches created pleasant feedback sensations!
“So yeah, Ipomoea’s shield had them literally bouncing, complete with a BOING! sound like in the comedy plays, even that asshole dark knight stopped to laugh his ass off at it, one of the referees actually had to come in to call a time out on the node because most of us couldn’t breathe—”
While Secondary User Rereha continued with her story, Mistress Synnove picked up with ear scritches, as well as drawing her hand down Ipomoea’s head to stroke her ears, back, and tails, then repeating the motion again.
And Ipomoea continued to purr.

SQL Server 2022 Edition and License instructions
SQL Server 2022 Editions:
• Enterprise Edition is ideal for applications requiring mission critical in-memory performance, security, and high availability
• Standard Edition delivers fully featured database capabilities for mid-tier applications and data marts
SQL Server 2022 is also available in free Developer and Express editions. Web Edition is offered in the Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) program only.
And the Online Store Keyingo Provides the SQL Server 2017/2019/2022 Standard Edition.
SQL Server 2022 licensing models
SQL Server 2022 offers customers a variety of licensing options aligned with how customers typically purchase specific workloads. There are two main licensing models that apply to SQL Server:  PER CORE: Gives customers a more precise measure of computing power and a more consistent licensing metric, regardless of whether solutions are deployed on physical servers on-premises, or in virtual or cloud environments.
• Core based licensing is appropriate when customers are unable to count users/devices, have Internet/Extranet workloads or systems that integrate with external facing workloads.
• Under the Per Core model, customers license either by physical server (based on the full physical core count) or by virtual machine (based on virtual cores allocated), as further explained below.
SERVER + CAL: Provides the option to license users and/or devices, with low-cost access to incremental SQL Server deployments.
• Each server running SQL Server software requires a server license.
• Each user and/or device accessing a licensed SQL Server requires a SQL Server CAL that is the same version or newer – for example, to access a SQL Server 2019 Standard Edition server, a user would need a SQL Server 2019 or 2022 CAL.
Each SQL Server CAL allows access to multiple licensed SQL Servers, including Standard Edition and legacy Business Intelligence and Enterprise Edition Servers.SQL Server 2022 Editions availability by licensing model:
Physical core licensing – Enterprise Edition
• Customers can deploy an unlimited number of VMs or containers on the server and utilize the full capacity of the licensed hardware, by fully licensing the server (or server farm) with Enterprise Edition core subscription licenses or licenses with SA coverage based on the total number of physical cores on the servers.
• Subscription licenses or SA provide(s) the option to run an unlimited number of virtual machines or containers to handle dynamic workloads and fully utilize the hardware’s computing power.
Virtual core licensing – Standard/Enterprise Edition
When licensing by virtual core on a virtual OSE with subscription licenses or SA coverage on all virtual cores (including hyperthreaded cores) on the virtual OSE, customers may run any number of containers in that virtual OSE. This benefit applies both to Standard and Enterprise Edition.
Licensing for non-production use
SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition provides a fully featured version of SQL Server software—including all the features and capabilities of Enterprise Edition—licensed for  development, test and demonstration purposes only.  Customers may install and run the SQL Server Developer Edition software on any number of devices. This is  significant because it allows customers to run the software  on multiple devices (for testing purposes, for example)  without having to license each non-production server  system for SQL Server.
A production environment is defined as an environment  that is accessed by end-users of an application (such as an  Internet website) and that is used for more than gathering  feedback or acceptance testing of that application.
SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition is a free product !

A Gift of Paper, a short story set in the Orville universe (Claire/Isaac)
By Melody Clark
Wrapped up in a delicate embrace of duvets. Claire Finn gazed at the revolving starscape display. Unknown planets. Long dying stars. The same, old familiar constellations, the occasional hombres of Custos Messium, some weird gas giant or other, maybe a few struggling suns. The ship view always felt to her like a snapshot of planetary existence, a readout of time from the chartless creators, if they existed. She thought they probably did though, in some fashion or form.
A questioning hand rested lightly on her arm. She knew its cause before she even ventured his question. She knew he wondered why she sat wrapped up in holodown and plasmic textiles. *Why seek increased body temperature with primitive insulators when we occupy a well-regulated environment, and your spouse is beside you?*
“Because they are a creature comfort,” Claire replied, with a sleepy smile.
“Do you require comforting?” he asked, his even voice bending a little with the many mysteries none of them yet understood.
“No, Isaac,” she said. “I just enjoy the sensation of the fabric on my skin.”
His digital sensors sought information from the duvet by gliding over it. “I am not certain I understand.”
Claire chose a clarifying simile. “It may be like when you receive a lot of unexpected correct data from an exterior source,” she suggested. “You could discern the information yourself, but it might be a unique gift to receive without any effort.”
“Perhaps so.”
She watched his eyes focus inwardly, as if seeking a wider locus. She wondered if she looked the same whenever her thoughts grew silent.
His vision shifted for an instant to their starscape. “Your consideration would appear to have been rendered elsewhere. Your attention was earlier directed to the starscape digital display.”
She nodded. “I was just deep in thought.”
“Was my sexual performance not – “
“Of course not, it was wonderful,” she said, quickly, laughing a little at her initial compunction to spare his male ego, which he did not have. “That is always wonderful. I was just thinking about time. Mortality. I guess I’m just feeling older. Biologicals are obsessed with aging.”
“As a doctor, you are aware you have many years remaining of biological time.”
“I know that, the dangers of the job notwithstanding. But our human years pass so quickly. Seems my boys were just born. Now Marcus is practically a man. My years are few. They seemingly pass faster every day. Mortality looms. The end draws near.” She tried to smile. “Just a dark mood.”
Isaac considered it all a long moment. “Death defined as necrobiosis of a biological organism.”
“Well, yes. Cessation. Oblivion. The end.”
“Cessation of consciousness?”
Claire shrugged gently. “That is what it seems to be.”
“And yet,” Isaac continued, “what you termed my suicide merely uploaded my mind to an AI concentric cloud. I retain a memory of it, up to and including my reactivation.”
“Because you’re an artificial life form. You have a systemic database.”
“I have a systemic database because my species was created for a purpose. Learned data would enlarge the knowledge base to improve the invention. The continuation of consciousness would be required. Improvement of my database would make it a necessity. It was part of the Creator’s design, to add to the greater information stores. Why create conscious mind units only to expunge them?”
“But your consciousness is shutdown with your body.”
“The Isaac body was shutdown. My consciousness remained as part of the information cloud, as I observed. I recall the conscious moments from the cloud.”
Claire gazed sadly at her empty snifter, remembering the horror of that night. Tonight, she had consumed the glass contents before their intimacy. Their sexual performance, as her life partner would have called it. It felt like an eternity since she lost him, yet only a moment since he returned to her.
Claire set the snifter down. “Isaac, I feel like you’re trying to impart a deep message, but I’m still a little drunk from all the anniversary brandy. Can you clarify your meaning?”
“Perhaps this will be explanatory.” Isaac opened his human hand to produce a blue orb out of his palm.
Claire gasped at the sight. The orb wrote in light across a nearby patch of darkness, “Happy Anniversary, Claire.”
In another time, she would have laughed away this tangle of adorably confusing sentimental moments with a joke. But this instant felt deeper and far more important.
She waved her hand over the orb to reveal the gift it contained. A visual display of a familiar written document. Long ago obscured by faded memory.
She smiled in surprise. “Where did you find this?”
“From a search of your educational data.”
“But why?”
“In my pre-nuptial research, I observed that the appropriate gift for the first wedding anniversary is paper. I considered generating a gross of blank hemp documents for your office, but the Captain suggested I review figurative human thinking instead. I discovered a scholastic document you had written in your secondary school years. I believe they were called papers. The thesis itself is really quite ingenuous.”
Claire shrugged a little. “My senior medical ontogeny thesis, Earth’s Mysterious Origins. I was just remembering this earlier. I advanced the theory that humans were invented by an ancient alien civilization for some unknown purpose. There is actually a very persuasive argument to be made for this.”
“I agree.”
“You do?”
“Yes. I consider your assessment of death as lapse of consciousness to stem from the inability to verify your thesis. Given all available evidence, there is little likelihood of a chance emergence of such a complex creature as humans. Your species was apparently created by a more advanced alien civilization, for the purpose perhaps of information gathering.”
“Yes, I conjectured that in my paper. Now, on my worse nights, I consider humans a kind of primate fungus. Evolving out of circumstances.” She turned fully toward him. “You really think alien creation could be correct?”
“No, I do not think it. I am certain it is correct.”
“Isaac,” she said warily, “We were very primitive for a long time.”
“Biology would require primitive probationary states for growth and evolution. Ignorance breeds discovery and the instinctive search for information. Evolution brought you to advanced consciousness.”
“But there is no database we know of for our minds to be uploaded to, as your species has.”
“Why else create a complex creature with assessment neurology without conserving species memory?” Isaac asked. “If humans were created, as clearly they were, why breed them to seek knowledge without a function for direct preservation of consciousness? There must be a human consciousness cloud.”
“Well, I guess there is evidence for a species memory of a kind. Recorded so-called reincarnation memory. Even resurrected memory from cryogenic patients.” She caressed his human hand, motioning for him to move by her. “On another level, I wonder if your agreement with my theory is just the result of data error from my intrusive presence in your data sets.”
He sat down beside her. “No. It is because you are correct. You are reborn with recycled consciousness seeded by AI, just as my species.”
Claire shook her head, with a sort of provisory wonderment. “That would mean we’re … eternal to some extent.”
“To any extent.”
She started feeling the fraying edges of her wakefulness, grown dim from work and brandy. She knew Isaac would be internally toiling on some ship project while she slept. He would be waiting for her, on the shoulder of the night.
“Thank you, honey,” she murmured.
“Honey?” he asked, momentarily assessing the word. “In this instance, a platitude of endearment, based on perceived maximum dulcification conferring fondness.”
“Yes,” she murmured, sleepier still.
“You are welcome, thaumatin.”
One eye reopened. “Thaumatin?”
“Thaumatin, a substance 1,600 to 3,250 times sweeter than sugar. Derived from the West African plant Thaumatococcus daniellii.”
Claire wished she had words enough to reach him. Yet again he demonstrated he understood and, somehow, reciprocated. She touched his face, sacrificing the moment to a whisper of sadness.
“Reincarnated consciousness returns at random. In another location and circumstance. Even if it is real. But where? To whom?”
Isaac gazed down into her barely open eyes. “I will find you.”

Reactions. Reactions.
(Chapter 8 of A Painful Apology)
It took everything in Malleus’s will to not run to Ignihyde and demand Silver to tell him who Mim and how he knew him. He couldn't help but feel haunted by the voice he heard singing only moments before. The only thing that even kept him from doing so was Idia. "I know that look on your face Malleus. Demanding Silver is going to do more harm then good. What if you scare him off? Whoever this 'Mim' is could get hasty in whatever he's doing to 'protect the forest' and Silver could get hurt."
Malleus knew Idia was right. The last thing was Silver getting into more danger. AT the minute Silver was with Ortho at the moment and Malleus himself was with Idia and Leona in Savanaclaw still. Leona was quickly though to become maddened. He started demanding that Idia somehow answer who that was and to know if there was anything that could detect who. It started to slowly start to sound like begging though even if Leona was yelling. Idia was just as lost as Leona was though.
"The magic isn't identifiable in my databases. Almost all magic known in Twisted Wonderland has been documented in the STYX databases that my networks take origination from. If that person were in my bases it would have popped up with a name or something as the magic was being performed." Malleus was certain he wasn't going to ever let Silver sleep alone in his room let alone ever sleep in it.
Thunder outside clapped gaining both Leona and Idia'a attention and causing them to turn towards Malleus who held a stone face no emotion knowable on it. "Starting today Silver is to never be left alone around campus without someone to watch him. Only students Silver knows, teachers, or Sam. Any whom are not within these categories are to never be left with him. But unless it is Sebek, Sam, a teacher, or a house warden there must be more than one student with Silver. I do not trust the others by themselves to keep their sight on Silver no matter how trust worthy they are. Freshman's especially are susceptible to any magic types."
Malleus focused his eyes on Idia. "I expect you Shroud to report my sayings to the house wardens. I myself am headed to get Silver now." Malleus disappeared in a cloud of green smoke leaving Leona and Idia to talk amongst themselves.
////////////
"I wanted to show you some place to after we visit the stables. It really nearby plus you'll get to see Muscles again." Those were the only words Silver needed to speak to convince Ortho to visit the stables with him as soon as Malleus, Idia, and Leona had left. It was quite nice being back there as well.
"Silver I wished to talk with you about the cat while we are here" Ortho spoke up as he brushed Muscles hair. Silver rolled his eyes before looking at Ortho. "It's fine there's nothing wrong." Silver looked back at Sebek's horse Marryweather and gently pet her snoot again. "But Silver it's getting worse. I don't want to keep it a secret from them anymore. This could harm you." Silver shook his head no.
"We know what's up with Cat Ollie and we know how and why what's happening is happening. I'm not letting them take away the last thing I have from Papa." Ortho stopped brushing Muscles and walked over to Silver. "I know you don't want that but this is dangerous. You could get hurt badly Silver. They don't even know about Ollie." Silver sighed and looked at Ortho. "Please Ortho. I promise I'll tell them if something goes wrong but please. Don't make me. Papa's gone and I don't want them to take him away even more. Don't tell them."
Ortho wanted to keep trying to convince Silver otherwise but all outcomes only led to stressing him out. The last thing Ortho wanted was to be the one to make Silver cry. "I won't Silver tell them Silver. I'll keep my promise." Silver gave Ortho a soft smile and hugged him. It wasn't long before the younger started crying as he hugged Ortho tightly unable to keep back the tears he had. "I m-miss my Papa. I want him back." Ortho wasn't to sure what to do besides rub Silver's back gently.
He had never been good at comforting people. It was hard to understand what to do when you've never needed comforting yourself. Silver did seem to find comfort in him though. Slowly his cries calmed and his hug loosened around Ortho. Then Silver backed away and wiped his eyes before looking up at Ortho and smiled before taking his hand. "Let's go I wanna show you something still."
////////////
Malleus found Silver running around with Ortho near the stables after he had left idia and Leona. Silver and Ortho seemed to simply be playing a game of tag Ortho was the tagger currently and Silver was doing his best t run and stay away from Ortho. Malleus didn't mind simply letting Silver have fun with Ortho.
He may still be deeply unnerved about everything that had occurred but seeing Silver enjoy himself was far better than ruining the moment. He was eventually spotted by Ortho and Silver. Silver waved to Malleus before hurrying over to him. Malleus braced himself before Silver came running into his legs and hugging Malleus.
"Wanna come play tag?" Malleus patted Silver's head. "Not at the moment. Maybe later though. It's time for us to start heading back to Diasmonia." Silver gave Malleus a disappointed look but let go of him and headed over to Ortho. He gave him a quick hug and said "bye" before heading off with Malleus.
////////////
There wasn't much that happened the rest of the day. Silver played some video games with Malleus and they read a book about gargoyles some but when Sebek returned later that evening it was about ten at night. Silver was leaning against Malleus barely awake and obviously tired. Sebek came in and looked antsy. He usually got that way when it was going to be rainy and Malleus had seen on his phone earlier that it would be for then next two weeks.
Scales were already noticeable on his hands and he most likely only had a day before he had to go out to his enclosure in the garden. Silver didn't seem to notice and simply waved to Sebek. "Hi Sebek." Sebek waved back to Silver before sitting down next to Malleus. "I most likely won't be spending the night here tomorrow but I'll be able to watch over Silver for the next few days if you'll allow it. I think last time he was with me he helped keep me calm."
Silver perked up a bit at what Sebek said and looked at Malleus hopefully. "Please Mallie?" Malleus couldn't think of any reason as to not allow Silver to be with Sebek. He had been safe the last time. "I see no reason as to not allow Silver to stay with you." Silver gave a pleased smile and Sebek also seemed to relax some laying against the couch a bit. "Now Silver it is time for bed now. I've also decided that you'll be staying in my room tonight.
"Silver looked at Malleus confused. "Why?" Malleus rubbed Silver's back. "Because of your nightmares. I hope that possibly I may be able to help keep them away as you sleep." The answer seemed to satisfy Silver. Malleus carried him to his bedroom and got Silver situated under the covers. Silver didn't fall asleep having one request left before Malleus left. "Can you get my bat? Please?"
Malleus didn't have the heart to refuse and agreed fetching the plushie for Silver and handing it to him before gently combing through Silver's hair. It was an effective way to get him to sleep and once he was Malleus started setting up spells around his room. First the windows were set to never open for anyone besides himself or Sebek and the door that led into the dorm was cast the same.
If Silver was to try to open either during the night Malleus would be awoken and find out it was him. Finally Malleus placed a fae blessing on Silver. It was a simply one that would hopefully give him peaceful dreams as he slept. Once Malleus was sure everything was well he laid in bed and held Silver close before drifting off to sleep.

KIOXIA Unveils 122.88TB LC9 Series NVMe SSD to Power Next-Gen AI Workloads
Tumblr media
KIOXIA America, Inc. has announced the upcoming debut of its LC9 Series SSD, a new high-capacity enterprise solid-state drive (SSD) with 122.88 terabytes (TB) of storage, purpose-built for advanced AI applications. Featuring the company’s latest BiCS FLASH™ generation 8 3D QLC (quad-level cell) memory and a fast PCIe® 5.0 interface, this cutting-edge drive is designed to meet the exploding data demands of artificial intelligence and machine learning systems.
As enterprises scale up AI workloads—including training large language models (LLMs), handling massive datasets, and supporting vector database queries—the need for efficient, high-density storage becomes paramount. The LC9 SSD addresses these needs with a compact 2.5-inch form factor and dual-port capability, providing both high capacity and fault tolerance in mission-critical environments.
Form factor refers to the physical size and shape of the drive—in this case, 2.5 inches, which is standard for enterprise server deployments. PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) is the fast data connection standard used to link components to a system’s motherboard. NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is the protocol used by modern SSDs to communicate quickly and efficiently over PCIe interfaces.
Accelerating AI with Storage Innovation
The LC9 Series SSD is designed with AI-specific use cases in mind—particularly generative AI, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and vector database applications. Its high capacity enables data-intensive training and inference processes to operate without the bottlenecks of traditional storage.
It also complements KIOXIA’s AiSAQ™ technology, which improves RAG performance by storing vector elements on SSDs instead of relying solely on costly and limited DRAM. This shift enables greater scalability and lowers power consumption per TB at both the system and rack levels.
“AI workloads are pushing the boundaries of data storage,” said Neville Ichhaporia, Senior Vice President at KIOXIA America. “The new LC9 NVMe SSD can accelerate model training, inference, and RAG at scale.”
Industry Insight and Lifecycle Considerations
Gregory Wong, principal analyst at Forward Insights, commented:
“Advanced storage solutions such as KIOXIA’s LC9 Series SSD will be critical in supporting the growing computational needs of AI models, enabling greater efficiency and innovation.”
As organizations look to adopt next-generation SSDs like the LC9, many are also taking steps to responsibly manage legacy infrastructure. This includes efforts to sell SSD units from previous deployments—a common practice in enterprise IT to recover value, reduce e-waste, and meet sustainability goals. Secondary markets for enterprise SSDs remain active, especially with the ongoing demand for storage in distributed and hybrid cloud systems.
LC9 Series Key Features
122.88 TB capacity in a compact 2.5-inch form factor
PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 support for high-speed data access
Dual-port support for redundancy and multi-host connectivity
Built with 2 Tb QLC BiCS FLASH™ memory and CBA (CMOS Bonded to Array) technology
Endurance rating of 0.3 DWPD (Drive Writes Per Day) for enterprise workloads
The KIOXIA LC9 Series SSD will be showcased at an upcoming technology conference, where the company is expected to demonstrate its potential role in powering the next generation of AI-driven innovation.

Cloud Migration and Integration A Strategic Shift Toward Scalable Infrastructure
In today’s digital-first business environment, cloud computing is no longer just a technology trend—it’s a foundational element of enterprise strategy. As organizations seek greater agility, scalability, and cost-efficiency, cloud migration and integration have emerged as critical initiatives. However, transitioning to the cloud is far from a lift-and-shift process; it requires thoughtful planning, seamless integration, and a clear understanding of long-term business objectives.
Tumblr media
What is Cloud Migration and Why Does It Matter
Cloud migration involves moving data, applications, and IT processes from on-premises infrastructure or legacy systems to cloud-based environments. These environments can be public, private, or hybrid, depending on the organization’s needs. While the move offers benefits such as cost reduction, improved performance, and on-demand scalability, the true value lies in enabling innovation through flexible technology infrastructure.
But migration is only the first step. Cloud integration—the process of configuring applications and systems to work cohesively within the cloud—is equally essential. Without integration, businesses may face operational silos, inconsistent data flows, and reduced productivity, undermining the very purpose of migration.
Key Considerations in Cloud Migration
A successful cloud migration depends on more than just transferring workloads. It involves analyzing current infrastructure, defining the desired end state, and selecting the right cloud model and service providers. Critical factors include:
Application suitability: Not all applications are cloud-ready. Some legacy systems may need reengineering or replacement.
Data governance: Moving sensitive data to the cloud demands a strong focus on compliance, encryption, and access controls.
Downtime management: Minimizing disruption during the migration process is essential for business continuity.
Security architecture: Ensuring that cloud environments are resilient against threats is a non-negotiable part of migration planning.
Integration for a Unified Ecosystem
Once in the cloud, seamless integration becomes the linchpin for realizing operational efficiency. Organizations must ensure that their applications, databases, and platforms communicate efficiently in real time. This includes integrating APIs, aligning with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and enabling data exchange across multiple cloud platforms.
Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Strategies
Cloud strategies have evolved beyond single-provider solutions. Many organizations now adopt hybrid (combining on-premise and cloud infrastructure) or multi-cloud (using services from multiple cloud providers) approaches. While this enhances flexibility and avoids vendor lock-in, it adds complexity to integration and governance.
To address this, organizations need a unified approach to infrastructure orchestration, monitoring, and automation. Strong integration frameworks and middleware platforms become essential in stitching together a cohesive IT ecosystem.
Long-Term Value of Cloud Transformation
Cloud migration and integration are not one-time projects—they are ongoing transformations. As business needs evolve, cloud infrastructure must adapt through continuous optimization, cost management, and performance tuning.
Moreover, integrated cloud environments serve as the foundation for emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, data analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT), enabling businesses to innovate faster and more efficiently.
By treating cloud migration and integration as strategic investments rather than tactical moves, organizations position themselves to stay competitive, agile, and future-ready.
