I don't understand what's going on in Corvus Lestrange's head. I know he's a rapist and an abuser, but this man is also completely nuts. He loved Corvus Jr., yet he entrusted his life to fucking Mary Lou Barebone of all people. Did Corvus even check who was going to care for his beloved child? And after sending his son away, he seemingly forgot about him entirely. Maybe Corvus died shortly after that - okay, fine. But this whole story is still completely insane!

The new face for one of my OC favorites, Corvus Rodolphus Lestrange, tell me he doesn't look exactly like a young Bellatrix? And the mouth seems to run in the family, as it also resembles Rabastan.

My young Bellatrix, breaking hearts forever.

Family dynamics for the Lestranges? I LOVE THE AVERYS BTW LIKE WOW
THANKSSSSS I'll do it for my fav generation of the Lestranges, the children of Corvus (I) and Heloise: Anoux (1750-1842), Falco (1753-1835), Corvus (II) (1754-1861) and Rodolphus (I) (1755-1856).
Anoux was the oldest, but the least favorite because of her being born a woman. She was kinda cold because of it but enjoyed spending time with her brothers, specially with Rodolphus, who also enjoyed quiet time. With Falco they were always making fun of each other, and with Corvus they had opposed personalities but the same humor.
Falco was the first boy, and in consequence was spoiled by his father a lot. He didn't really like Corvus, but buckled up with it anyway for the sake of keeping appearances. The worst part was when his brother had a son, and he had to give him the heritage to pass on. He had a great relationship with Anoux (classic "we pretend to hate each other but not really") and a neutral with Rodolphus (until he became Minister of Magic and tried to be on his good side).
Corvus was kind of the "middle child" of the family, never treated badly but never the most important. He was only 10 months older than Rodolphus, so they were like twins growing up and did everything together. He was close with his sister even having completely opposed personalities (they were equally cynical, so their conversations were always fun), but not so much with Falco (they never knew why their relationship was like that, they just never liked each other).
Rodolphus was the accident child but wasn't excluded because of his quick mind and abilities. He was closest with Corvus and always wanted his advice (they were never good, but it was fun to see what he had to say). His sister and he had similar personalities and enjoyed spending time with each other in their garden (or when they were older, they often saw each other in various coffee shops). Falco wasn't his favorite sibling at all, but he was always cordial to him.
If you want any more details I could make a post about it too, I really like them a lot!

starter for @crucioslut | Corvus and Bellatrix
It had been months in the making, a plan to get his parents out of Azkaban. It was his way to get in the Dark Lord’s good graces, a way for him to prove himself worthy of the Dark Mark.
As much as he hated that his sister was close to the Order, her relationship with them had revealed just how Sirius Black had escaped a few years prior. He couldn’t believe how simple it had been. Why hadn’t he thought of it earlier?
Luck would have it that Corvus’ animagus form was revealed to be a crow just like constellation he had been named after. It was the perfect way to get in undetected, unbothered by the dementors that kept watch. He flew into the prison when he knew that there would be no other people and found his way to his mother’s cell.
His body shifted out of the form that he had spent months preparing. As he stood in front of his mum, he grinned. “Hello, mother.”

Better Names for the HP Epilogue Kids:
thank you @arkadijxpancakes, @fire-vvhiskey, @missbrunettebarbie, @the-phoenix-heart and the ask box anons for the excellent suggestions! I liked them so much that I just wanted to group them all in one place.
HARRY / GINNY
Fredrick (if he's the first Weasley clan grandson, and George is okay with it, Ginny might insist on this one)
Sirius (I do think it makes sense to go with Sirius, but to use it as a first name. Sirius Black's name was never officially cleared, and I think Harry would be on top of that post-war. Naming his son Sirius would be a very clear, political, statement of intent.)
Alfred (Honors Fred without being on the nose, and the Al- honors Albus without out being too on the nose. Also very Weasley-coded.)
Ariana (Honors Albus... but Harry isn't conflicted about Ariana, and it doesn't cast as huge a shadow over the kid (one step away from naming him Merlin, honestly.) Also, I think Albus would honestly be pretty uncomfortable with a child named after him, and would prefer one named after his sister)
Evan (Very classy way to name a kid after Lily Evans)
Fleamont “Monty” (Important Potter family name with a Weasley-coded nickname)
Godric (Honors Lily, James and Albus who all lived at Godric's Hollow. And of course Godric Gryffindor, because Harry and Ginny are two of the loudest Gryffindors to ever Gryffindor.
Wulfric (One of Albus' middle names, so a more subtle way to honor him. Also that "Wolf" part brings in Remus)
Ruby (Fits in well with the other Weasley names, very Gryffindory, would be an adorable way to name someone after Hagrid.)
Holly (Cute, Weasley-coded, and a botanical name like Lily while bringing in the protective elements of Harry's holly wand.)
Minerva (Harry and Ginny both have nothing but good associations, it's a good name, and "Minnie" is a cute Weasley-ish nickname. Also makes more sense than 'Luna,' which they went for in-canon.)
The Weasleys seem to possibly favor names with an Arthurian vibe (Arthur, Percy) and they are very wizardy in a way Harry might enjoy. So some options in that category:
Vivienne (magical character)
Elaine (also happens to be the "Lily Maid," so another way to get Lily in there)
Gawain (very Gryffindor kind of guy)
Guinevere (Gwennie or Jenny for short. Ginny and Jenny would be very cute)
RON / HERMIONE
Jean (Hermione's middle name, and very possibly her mom's name. It would make a lot of sense to name kids after Hermione's (muggle) parents)
Harriet (cute way of naming a kid after Harry, who is basically family to both Hermione and Ron)
Everyone seems to like the idea of Hermione and Ron going to Shakespeare for their names. 'Hermione' is a Shakespeare name, and it makes sense that she would favor a muggle writer who loves to write about magic. Some good options:
Hero (Ron would think this is cute and funny)
Rosalind
Prospero / Prosper (naming a son after the wizard character would be fun for both of them)
Miranda (the wizard's daughter)
Owen (after wizard Owen Glendower)
Viola
Lysander
Imogene
Robin (Robin Goodfellow, so fairy/magic connection)
Benedick
Perdita (Hermione's daughter in A Winter's Tale. Hermione would get a kick out of this)
Toby
Edgar
Eleanor
Sebastian
Tamora
DRACO / ASTORIA
Corvus (This is the constellation that would have been in the sky during the Battle of Hogwarts/Voldemort's death, which makes it a classy choice... but it also does show up in the Fantastic Beasts films as a super Lestrange name, and Draco would know that.)
Regulus (makes a LOT of sense to honor another Death Eater who changed sides, as well as the Black family. Underlines the importance of family tradition while also allowing Draco to telegraph exactly where his new loyalties lie.)
Berenice (also referencing a constellation above the death of Voldemort. Means 'victory bringer,' which - appropriate.)
Aquila (another astronomy name. Latin for "Eagle," which might make a nice pair with Astoria, which means "Hawk.")
Amalthea (very, very pretty and soft astronomy name.)
Sylvius/Sylvia (Latin "forest." Nice, standard pureblood name, but the meaning does have a nice overlap with Astoria's maiden name, Greengrass. Also, the 'y' and 'l' sounds makes it sound really nice with 'Malfoy.')
Draco might also want to use a botanical name, to honor Narcissa. The narcissus (daffodil) is also an early spring flower, and I think that symbolism would appeal to Draco and Astoria: publicly communicate that this is a new start for the family. In that category, I like:
Iris
Hyacinth (Draco would use this name for either a boy or girl. Also sounds similar to 'Hyperion,' Scorpius' canon middle name, so presumably Draco and/or Astoria would think it sounds nice)
Forsythia (Just a very striking flower name. Also "Sythie" as a nickname is kinda cool.)

THE FANTABULOUS FUCK-UPS OF FANTASTIC BEASTS
Tagging @keepmeinmind-01 , as promised. Thank you for the lovely ask, friend 😁🫶
Alright, so to start off, I just want to get this out of the way: Fuck JK Rowling, trans rights are human rights, free Palestine, black lives matter, and bigotry of any kind is an absolutely disgusting use of free will.
I was going to throw all of my issues into the answer to your ask, but I got part way through the first section and went, "This is a lot. Maybe I should just make a post." So here we are.
I'm going to be breaking this post into sections, just to keep it a bit more cohesive and less wall-of-text-y. First up:
MAJOR PLOT HOLES AND INCONSISTENCIES
(More under the cut 😁🫶💝)
There is absolutely no mention of Credence at all in the original books. If he was such a pivotal character, especially one related to the Dumbledore's, how did he just disappear into obscurity (no pun intended) by the time the main series took place?
Gellert’s “Your brother abandoned you” comment at the end of CoG makes no sense. If Aberforth is the father, that would make Albus an uncle… and if Grindelwald knows oh-so-much about the Dumbledore family, you’d think he would know enough to not make that mistake
Jacob in Hogwarts is literally impossible... Unless he’s a squib. But if he is a squib, we should have gotten even a tiny hint of magical ancestry. Now, we're just assuming things to make the dots connect, and if your readers have to go through such mental gymnastics to understand the story you've written, you've done something wrong.
The Queenie/Jacob marriage at the end of SoD takes place in Queens, in Jacob’s bakery. But how are they getting married in the US? The laws regarding No-Maj/Wizarding relationships haven’t changed yet!
‘Vulnera Sanentur’ is the counter-curse for ‘Sectum Sempra’… A spell that was invented by the Half-Blood Prince… who has not been born yet. I mean, come on. That's just lazy writing.
Ariana’s death in the three-way duel between Gellert, Aberforth, and Albus directly goes against the blood pact! Killing curses were being exchanged, so why didn’t the pact have any effect then?
The whole blood pact in general makes no sense tbh. If thinking about harming the other is enough to activate the curse, why is murder by proxy allowed? They're still thinking of hurting each other, just by manipulating other people to do it for them. Is that not seen as "direct harm"???
Leta and Corvus Jr are very explicitly stated to be the last of the Lestrange line… But they’re obviously not? Where did Rabastian or Rudolphus come from? Did they just spawn in? Or could it be that the entire Lestrange plot line in CoG just meant absolutely nothing
The twin Qilin being dead means that it. Is. Dead. Magic cannot bring back the dead, which was the whole point of the OG books. So is it an inferi now? An animated corpse? But it apparently still uses magic to figure out who to bow to, which is something I'm pretty sure an inferi is incapable of. So what is it??
The future is the future is the future. Gellert saw the future. So anything that happens between the present and the point he saw was *always going to happen*. The whole “counter-sight” plot doesn’t make any sense because the only ones confused are the characters and us. The future has already been set!
In CoG, Albus is a DADA teacher… But he never taught Defense. He was the Transfiguration professor! We know this because it was stated in the original books that Tom Riddle asked for the Defense position when the previous teacher (who had been working there for 50 years) retired. So how on earth is albus teaching DADA 10 years before Tom starts school??
The Qilin bowing to Albus makes no sense. His entire arc in The Deathly Hallows was there to prove that he was not pure of heart, nor was he deserving of a powerful station.
After all the lead-up and hints that Jacob is pure and virtuous, it would have made more sense for it to bow to him… By which I mean, it still makes no sense, but it would have been a better twist than whatever bs they actually tried to pull.
Yusuf Kama going to Grindelwald serves no purpose other than to add suspense for the audience… As far as the others know, he was loyal to them for the entire time. The whole question of "will he, won't he" is totally irrelevant to the other characters because they know him to be on their side. It's not a surprise to them when he turns on the wizard nazis
There is absolutely 0 continuity with the Dumbledore/Phoenix thing. If Credence’s came to him because he was dying, then does that mean Ariana had one, too?
Honestly, on the topic of Credence, his entire story was just. Anticlimactic. You mean to tell me that after all that build-up, all those hints that his mother will finally be revealed... We get literally nothing about her?? Then he just dies??? Off-screen??? WTH Joanne??
If Yusuf couldn’t follow Corvus Jr because Irma’s magical signature was too weak, then WHY SEND LETA? Wouldn’t she have a magical presence he could trace? She could jeopardize the entire operation, all for what?? Some convoluted baby swap scheme? That also makes no sense??
AND WHY LEAVE HIM WITH A RANDOM LADY - no way to contact him, no way to find him, nothing - especially if that lady happens to be descended from the witch hunters responsible for the Salem witch trials??? Me thinks Corvus Sr put zero thought into this entire situation
Timeline Fucky Wuckys
I know this one comes up a lot, but how is Minerva McGonagall teaching at Hogwarts a full three decades before she was born?? Her birthday is in October of 1935, yet she's somehow teaching Newt and Leta in the 1910s??
SoD takes place sometime before 1939 because WW2 hadn’t started yet. BUT Tom Riddle starts school in 1938… And he needs his wand, which means Fawkes had to have been with Albus already in order to donate the two feathers for the brother wands. When did Fawkes come to Albus? How long was he with him? We have no answers!
Lally says it’s been, “... a little over a year,” since the events of the first movie. But it’s not? It’s been, at the very least, 5 years! Just more timeline confusion
FBaWtFT takes place in 1926. Credence is supposed to be 18 years old. But in SoD, it’s revealed that he was conceived in 1899… So either his mother (whoever she is, we still have no gd clue) was pregnant for about 8 years, or it just doesn’t make any sense period.
Minor Mistakes and General Questions
Mistakes
Tina and Theseus have the same job… So why could Theseus participate in the third movie but Tina somehow couldn’t?
There is some Portkey vs Floo Network confusion in SoD. Jacob comes whooshing onto the train *through the fireplace*, yet still calls that transportation a Port Key? Maybe he's just a little confused, or maybe the writers just overlooked it?
There are quite a few Vanishing Characters throughout the franchise, but 3 main ones: Abernathy, who they were implying was high-up in grindelwald's close circle; Nagini, apparently a shape shifter somehow; and Tina Goldstein?? A main protagonist???
Albus tells Jacob to, “Keep it close,” referring to his snake-wood wand. But why? Why go out of his way to instruct caution for absolutely no reason? As far as they know, it's just a stick! The wand doesn't have a core, so even if it is made out of a rare type of wood, it's still just a stick??
If the Swooping Evil venom from the first movie only works on “bad memories”, then Langdon Shaw wouldn’t be affected either. He was ecstatic to find out witches were real! Even if he was labeled as a crazy man and completely disregarded, it is entirely plausible that other people (ehem, Jacob) would have remembered the events of the last fight.
I hold very firmly to the idea that if Bunty had been introduced in the first movie, she and Newt would have ended up together. Instead, they're both just left pining with no resolution.
Questions
For a show called Fantastic Beasts, there really aren't a lot of beasts in the later films, are there? What happened to the whimsy of the first movie? Where did it go?
What is Aberforth's thing with mirrors? It was in the Deathly Hallows, and here it is again in SoD. Does he have a specific affinity for mirror magic?? Is that even a thing???
Speaking of Aberforth, what's with the goats? We have no explanation for any of that, even though it was an established piece of his character in the og book.
The whole "mirror dimension/inverse realm" in SoD also makes no sense? What kind of magic was that? Why does it never come up again? Is that just one of Albus Dumbledore's many talents, or was it just something the writers threw in because it looked cool?
On the topic of Albus, is he a seer or is he just really lucky?? In the books, it was implied that he was a very talented statistician, not a prophetic wizard. He could look at memories and easily distinguish patterns, thereby allowing him to guess at the most likely immediate future. But in SoD, it's pretty heavily implied that he saw some glimpse of the future and that's how he knows the counter-sight plan will work.
How do American muggle-borns get their letters to Ilvermorny if it’s literally illegal for any non-wizard to even know about the existence of magic? How does magic *work* in the US if it must all be kept strictly underground??
Bunty orders 6 identical cases, but only 4 of them are used in the plot. What happened to the other 2?
In the books, Aberforth hated Albus since the day Ariana was killed. That has already happened in the movies, and yet they get along relatively well? So what happened?
Why establish a connection between Newt and dragons in the first film, and then just abandon that detail to the void? Do you have any idea how cool it would be to have newt right in on the back of a Ukrainian Ironbelly to fight literal nazis?? That would have been SWEET
If you're cursed after killing a unicorn, the slaying of a being as pure as a Qilin would have a similar effect, yes? Apparently not.
I'm sure there are lots and lots that I overlooked, but I this is a pretty good list for now!! I think I might make another post for my theories and how I plan on fixing this whole mess in my rewrite... but that will be a project for another time.
Thanks for reading!! Feel free to scream at me about discrepancies I missed in the comments 🙏 I'm sure I missed some somewhere

"I thought at first it would be easy," Yusuf said. He hadn't known, back then, an angry, grieving boy, that his oath would devour the next two decades of his life.
"He had only one close relative."
Had his father known what his oath could have required?
Yusuf had known. Who else could it have been? But he hadn't comprehended it. Over the next few years, as he'd tracked the Lestranges down, he had rarely allowed himself time to think of anything beyond fulfilling his oath. He had not thought of the consequences.
Not until he'd realized that the man both he and his father hated above all others cared only for his son. He'd been surprised at the relief he'd felt when he shifted his target from the Lestrange daughter to the Lestrange son.
If it had been her, he would only have killed her out of duty, unable to break his oath. Quick and painless, nothing more. She'd committed no crime.
Despite all these past wasted years, so much of his time, money, and effort searching for the vanished Corvus Lestrange, he was glad it wasn't her. The killing of one's own blood was a terrible thing.
"You," he told her as she gazed at him. How much of this story did she know? Of her parents, of his quest for revenge? He didn't know.
Leta looked so much like Maman it hurt to look at her.
"But..." He faltered. It seemed cruel to say it aloud, and he didn't want to hurt her. It wasn't her fault that she was her father's daughter.
"Say it," she whispered, looking only for confirmation, like she'd always known this, what had been easy for him to ascertain, what she'd known all her life.
He said it. "He never loved you."

Elisa Lasowski as Minette Balbine Lestrange (née Rosier), a member of the pure-blood Rosier family. She was a woman of effortless charm, growing up in an environment where grace, beauty, and social prowess were paramount, excelling in all three. With a keen eye for elegance, adding to her ebullient nature, she was beloved by many of her peers, catching the attention of many such suitors who wished to ally with the Rosiers at that time. She was the younger sister of Félicule Lestrange and the older sister of Narcisse Rosier.
But under the warmth of her smile and the courtesy of her behaviour, was a keen intellect, one that understood the subtleties of power and manipulation better than most. After her sister Félicule's marriage to the Englishman Radolphus Lestrange, she found herself capturing the attention of his French cousin, Corvus Lestrange II.
She became the wife of Corvus Lestrange II in 1819, heir of Corvus I. By the year 1829, she had sired him two daughters and a son: Manon (b. 1821), Josette (b. 1823), and Corvus III (b. 1828). Manon and Josette Lestrange were also raised with their mother's exquisite taste in fashion. Minette lived to see her daughters get married to other French pure-blood families, and unexpectedly died of a heart attack at her son's wedding to Eglantine Lestrange.
Félicule Rosier is the original character of @konstantynowitz, and Narcisse Rosier is the original character of @theblackswan-and-thewhiterose.

i was wandering life unaware and unbothered until i saw lovely @royalthorned post about regulus and rabastan and my life hasn’t been the same since. i could never before really see regulus with anybody because it just felt ooc for the way that i view him but rabastan ???…yeah, yeah actually.
rabastan is an awful little thing, all bark and no bite, arrogant, loud in a wanna-be sophisticated way and has a black-and-white superficial, liberal view of life. he does lots of things but never too seriously, he’s impulsive but seldom for good reasons but one thing that he fully is, is himself. maybe he is just too simple-minded to lie, manipulate, and cheat or maybe that’s just how he is, but he is quite probably as honest and true as one can be in his context. he is awful at what he doesn’t do but good enough about what he does, so everyone is content with him. rabastan is the epitome of a Lestrange, he is loyal to an absolute fault and though no one is close in the family, blood is all. and he stands on their motto more than he stands on anything “Corvus oculum corvi non eruit” ( a crow will not pull out the eye of another crow ). he has the charisma and tone of an heir but everyone is glad he is not. he’s chaotic and anger-driven. when his temper becomes uncontrollable he recluses himself to sculpt. ( idk why but i’m convinced all Lestranges have an affinity with art and where rabastan sculpts, rodolphus plays instruments and composes )
regulus on the other hand is hard-headed, sneaky, and far too smart for his own good. and he somehow now had the thick and unwavering attention of the second son of the Lestranges. to rabastan, regulus was the most interesting being he had laid eyes on. a pretty and scrawny man who held all the power he could ever want and chose instead to read stupidly long books about things no one knows about and write equally long manuscripts about things no one could ever think of ( regulus who plays out experiments in his books is dear to me ). he was a ghost who acted all proper and well, and roamed the halls of the black manor. he had the answer to every question, and had everyone tightly wrapped around his finger, and believed in a god everyone faked at hearing, and held grudges like an old victorian lady, and remembered everything all the time, and rabastan wanted nothing more than for that god-sent, angel looking boy to see him too.  he had never really tried to get anyone’s attention, always receiving it with little effort, but with regulus he was desperate.
they first met in a family gathering, humble conversation found its way through loud speeches and ceremonial family rites. it was a quiet thing, sweet and poisonous. to regulus rabastan was the forbidden fruit, the epitome of what he couldn’t do but needed to try. some sort of sinful desire he had succumbed to. his life was tidy and plain, and rabastan was the chaos that kept him on his toes wrapped in luxurious clothes, and shiny smiles, and elicited in him a morbid interest he couldn’t shake. i think he liked to know he had with no effort on his part the complete attention of someone like that.
this one is for you Irene @katakosmos

Do you have any hcs about Corvus Lestrange I and Falco's mother?
Corvus Lestrange (I) was the brother of Cyrille Lestrange (I). The first named Falco Lestrange was the son of Corvus.
Personally, I believe Corvus and Cyrille’s mother was Nozéa Trouche. There have been a couple mutuals of mine who have thought the same, so I kinda just went along with the idea.
Nozéa tended to adorn herself in gothic attire, taking comfort in a wardrobe that consisted of dark-colored gowns. Appearance-wise, she was a maiden with hair of a starless night, purely black like a raven’s feathers. Nozéa bore sharp blue eyes that assessed her acquaintances with such intensity, it made them go weak in the knees, but in which held much wisdom born from tragedy.
Lady Trouche was a true beauty. It is noted that her descendant, Nozéa Lestrange, looks much like her.
