Dear Raven, do you have any opinion on the Tangled event in terms of it’s “story”? Cause I personally feel that it was rather underwhelming…

I have a lot of thoughts about Wish Lantern, so I'd be more than happy to expand on those here. First of all, I think a lot of us were underwhelmed by this event because we went in with a certain set of expectations. We thought this would be THE Riddle event and hyped ourselves up about how this would further his character development. And technically, the event did do that--even if said development was only relevant for parts 2-7 to 2-13, and the final part, 2-18. I think we just weren't fans of the execution. Rarely are story events contained mostly in a single room--but Wish Lantern was. Rarely are modern Twst story events a mere two episodes long--but Wish Lantern was. Rarely do story events call for characters to just stand around and reenact the exact same things the Disney characters did--but in Wish Lantern, they do. It was just a storm of blandness when I think we were wanting and expecting to explore a new place, and more in-depth exploration of Riddle's complicated relationship with his mother, especially considering we got Wish Lantern right off the tail end of his book 7 dream in the JP server. But we didn't get that, so many people ended up disappointed.

Now, how do I feel about it? Well...

I think I get what they were going for by cramming everyone into the library. The devs were probably trying to show us how claustrophobic and suffocating it is to be trapped inside and stripped of your freedom. They wanted us to feel the same way that Rapunzel did up in her tower, and they did it all without telling us to our faces "doesn't it suck, don't you feel awful about this?" But the problem with this setting is that it also makes for a dull story, especially when you combine it with the fact that Riddle and the others come to the stunningly stupid conclusion that they HAVE to live out the same life the Princess in the Tower did to get out.

We never got an explanation as to why this chain of events was even set off by the lantern to begin with. As a writer myself, this really bothers me :/

We got NRC library lore, but it was not that interesting because this could have been easily guessed, given the age and elite status of the school.

One bit of new lore I thought was very interesting was Jack saying that only a handful of mages are authorized to move humans using magic + there are restrictions on this kind of magic. This fleshes out the magic system of Twst and the laws around its use.

I found it silly that Riddle was the one to suggest that they pretend to be princesses and that this is what would help solve their problem. That's so nonsensical and such a huge leap of logic, I expected it of KALIM, not Riddle. (Maybe you could argue that Riddle has a desire to let his inner child out, but I do not see current day Riddle so overtly expressing that; he has shown time and time again he is uncomfortable going outside the bounds his mother laid for him, and that includes acting in traditionally immature ways.) And not only that, but why did they all insist and automatically invest so much in being princesses, and continue to dig into details about the Princess in the Tower's life, truly believing that reenacting it would get them out of this bind??? I know it's for plot convenience, but it was so contrived. They literally had no proof this would work yet kept acting in ways that implied they genuinely believed it would work. Why wouldn't they just believe "okay, this isn't working" after changing into their new clothes, makeup, and hairdos and try something else? No, instead they just fully dedicated themselves to this reenactment strategy after questioning their assumption maybe once or twice.

The Princess in the Tower is even a FAIRY TALE in the world of Twisted Wonderland. It's not actually a part of their history. The characters point out (at multiple points in the event) how silly the fairy tale is or how little sense it makes. So... that gives them even less reason to believe in reenacting it as their solution.

Shoutout to the part where Jack talks about how tight his shirt is in the chest area (boobs too big, lol) and how he had to alter it to be more comfortable for him...

There were strange parts where the event was like a... poorly written locked room mystery? In a good mystery, the reader is handed all the clues to come to their own conclusions. In a bad mystery, important details are not given to the reader, so there is no feasible way for them to come to their own conclusions until the story tells them that missing crucial information. This happens a few times, with Ace handing Riddle "something he'll need" (which turns out to be a frying pan), Riddle "taking a long time" to jump out of the window (because he was contacting Silver to tell him to bring Vorpal), and Vargas giving them climbing rope (to aid in their escape). We only anticipate these things to occur if you're familiar with Tangled already. If you haven't seen it, you would have NO IDEA what is going to happen with these scenes.

I liked that every NRC character, including staff, got their five minutes in the spotlight. We don't often get events like this, so I appreciate them when they do happen.

Jade killed me when he showed up wearing THAT STUPID VARGAS CAMP MONSTER MASK THING.

... Remember what I said earlier about how it's confusing how Riddle, Jack, Deuce, and Kalim are throwing literally their ALL into these hobbies??? Well. Leona comes in and tells them it's inefficient to do that. Why are they trying to play an entire game of chess when moving a single piece is enough to constitute fulfilling the (supposed) requirements? If they were so worried about the time crunch, they should have been more economical with their time and spent the minimum amount on every activity, not spend hours trying to do each one. AGAIN, I HAVE TO GIVE IT TO KINGSCHOLAR... HE IS CORRECT. Of all the characters, I can only really see Riddle being anal about doing everything perfectly, but the other three could easily coast by on the bare minimum.

This is a bit of my book 7 salt spilling over into this event, but I kept having this nagging thought that Riddle and co. (+ Crowley) seem VERY concerned with escaping the library before it rolls over to the next day. Like... I understand why they're worried--but they oddly do not demonstrate this same level of urgency for most of the dream hopping in book 7 even though the stakes are much higher there. It doesn't make sense to me...

The devs got creative with the framing of this event; there was the diagonal slice and then showing two characters in two different locations speaking, as well as the Jamils low fade in + vanish.

The new music tracks were nice; one emulated the Kingdom Dance, and the other was a combination of the instrumentation of When Will My Life Begin and At Last I See The Light, which I appreciated.

The rhythmics/twistunes were cute. Nothing else to add.

I did like the character development we actually got for Riddle—I just wish it came attached to a better event and was executed better. His development is sort of poorly spaced out (especially when compared to Deuce in White Rabbit Fest), the event itself is short, and Riddle doesn’t even bring up his mom until 2-13… when the last part is 2-18.

I still felt that the parallels between Rapunzel and Riddle were sufficiently conveyed; it just requires reading between the lines.

I loved that they made a point to mention that the Princess didn’t know she was kidnapped by a witch because the witch provided all that she could ever want in her tower. Delicious food and lots of things to do… why would she ever go against someone that provided these amenities for her? It is similar to the mindset many abused children have—simply because an abusive guardian provides for them, children are compelled to give them grace and feel guilty about disobeying. These kids don’t realize they are “kidnapped” (under the abusive guardian’s thumb). The same goes for Riddle.

When I think about it… the window is an important symbol for Riddle. The manga more explicitly shows us that Trey and Chenya knocked on Riddle’s window to get his attention. It’s also through the window that Riddle escapes to go play with them. Now, again, a window is his escape, and, learning from past experience, he hesitates to take that route even though it is so easily accessible. I've decided... Never again. Almost made me gasp out loud, honestly. This was the part I expected from the start, and Twst actually delivered.

Another point I feel is very important is how Riddle consistently brings up the rules as a means of depriving himself of basic things like food (because you cannot eat in the library). The others have the be the ones to convince him to take better care of himself. He even has trouble jumping from the window too—and this is the same as Rapunzel. It’s not that they cannot leave the tower. They can leave anytime they like—but they trap themselves in it, psychologically speaking, due to how they’ve been isolated and controlled. That takes real strength and willpower to overcome.

It’s great that Jack, Deuce, and Kalim support Riddle through this tough decision-making, even if they’re blunt about it. (Sometimes bluntness is what he needs to really snap into action!!) “I don’t want to see you turning into a loser that uses the rules as an excuse to not act.”, “Are you planning on staying there forever?” etc.

The ending nicely wraps up Riddle’s little arc. He connects the dots that both he and Rapunzel broke the promises made to their mothers—but it was worth it to see this amazing sight, wasn’t it?

I happen to have my own Wish Lantern rewrite if you're interested in an alternate version of the event. As it currently is, it's okay to pretty good in the Riddle development scenes alone and has some cute interactions, but everything else surrounding that is pretty bleh.

Species Traits: Pearl has some of the most unique biology of any Hermit. Her code is, by her own explanation, upside down. This allows her to manipulate it to shapeshift into a variety of forms and take on the traits of those forms. While she tends to stick to a fully human or moth hybrid form as a her default, Pearl has demonstrated the ability to shift into the following hybrid forms: Cat, Goat, Bat, Wolf, Beetle, Raven, Owl, Demon, Goose, Lion, Deer, Salmon, and Alien. She tends to stick to one form, though she can apparently mix and match.

While her hybrid forms tend towards human, typically only developing one or two traits like wings, antennas, claws, or tail, Pearl has demonstrated the ability to fully shift into certain forms like a wolf or an alien.

Admin Notes: Pearl’s presence on our server was felt before she was here. Both I and Grian have used her builds as inspiration or copied them (with permission) before she was invited to join. Her and Grian worked together to design a number of his builds on season 7. Inviting her on season 8 was only natural. Pearl is known largely for her organics, her detailed and sometimes fantastical creatures and plants (such as the large flower in the center of her Season 9 base). Her builds are often vibrant, and even the more monochromatic ones show an artistic eye for color and contrast. She makes colors that should not go together work perfectly. Pearl is an artist and building is the medium she chooses to show her beautiful work.

Pearl is a pleasure to be around. In large groups and upon first meeting, she can come across as shy and quiet. However, once she is more comfortable, her real personality shines. Pearl is goofy and makes ridiculous voices and noises. She loves a good prank and can be very mischievous when the situation calls for it. When it comes to competitions, Pearl will dedicate herself to them until she knows every bit as well as she can (As shown by her being the Queen of Decked Out 2, her record in Cub’s labyrinth, and her consistently being on the leaderboard of Hungry Hermits).

As soon as you feel like you've got a good grasp on witchcraft, you'll want to start practising. With everything you've come across, it might prove overwhelming or confusing as to where to start. Some topics are more advanced than others and aren't considered beginner-friendly. Therefore, having practised and got a hold of some basics is a great way to begin your journey, and is always recommended by other practitioners. That way, if you accidentally step too deep too early, you're already equipped with the information, tools, and experience you need to look after yourself.

It's easy to get excited and rush through it to what you may truly want to do, however, I suggest practising the following topics until it becomes a habit and you can throw up protections and wards like second nature without any notes. It depends on how much time you can dedicate to this daily and whether there are any reasons you might have to slow down, such as being broom-closeted or having children. I would suggest 1 to 2 years overall for researching all the topics in-depth and practising it until you have at least one method of each nailed down confidently with no doubts in your ability or knowledge - and be honest with yourself on that.

“Chat… This is taking so long…” you sigh, pausing in your building to look at chat.

Ever since you’ve been accepted into the Sleep Deprived SMP, your viewership has been steadily increasing. You had a smaller, but dedicated following before, which you were already very grateful for, but this push really helped you go full time with streaming.

Everyone has been very kind to you, both in your streams and on the server. The other content creators were helpful and included you in a lot of bits to help you assimilate.

You get along with the other creators pretty well, but there is one particular person you favored…

“What if I asked Schlatt for a favor…?” you lean back in your chair, taking your hands off your keyboard and mouse, character now still.

Chat immediately split into two sides, people spamming variations of ‘NO’ and ‘YES’ at the same time, with a clear majority of agreeing answers. There are people defending your honor, telling you to not sink to his level and ones that just wanted to see their favorite duo interact.

“You’re really enabling me here, chat… He’s still on, right?” pressing tab, you see his name on the server list, getting your question answered. “Yeah, he is.”

“I’m going to call him.” you sit back up straight, pause the game and open Discord on your other screen, next to chat. Clicking on yours and Schlatt’s DMs, remnants of a previous, spontaneous conversation pop up.

After a few seconds of hesitation– “Fuck it.” –you click on the call icon. Covering your mouth with your hand, elbow on the table, you stare at the screen while holding back a grin.

After a few rings, he joins.

“Yeah?” he asks straight away.

“Big man! I have a… uh.. favor to ask of you. If you would be ever so generous.” you say a bit nervously after uncovering your mouth, grin ever present. “It’s a pretty big ask.”

“So you came directly to the man at the top, huh?” he counters, the teasing tone clear in his voice.

“I had to make sure my request was accommodated properly, by the one and only.” you say, trying to appeal to his ego, while also not wanting to seem too excited.

“And what would that be, toots?”

“Well… I really, and I mean really, want to build a magnificent base for myself, and I already have everything planned out, but there's just one issue-” began your over the top, formal explanation, “-I am lacking quite a few blocks for this endeavor.”

He lets out a light and humorous scoff as you continue on, “So I thought I'd ask you to grant me creative mode, so I could contribute to this beautiful server, with my beautiful build.”

He gives a big, over exaggerated sigh before he starts speaking. “I could do that, as the person who owns the server, but…”

You squint as when you hear him drag out that last word. “But what?”

“But, I would need some sort of payment. I can't just go giving out such things to anyone for free. Then everyone would be asking me for similar things.” he finishes up. Now it's your turn to scoff at him.

“You say that like chaos doesn't constantly happen on this server anyway.” you roll your eyes at the camera, shaking your head for chat playfully.

“Okay, well, this discussion is over.” he snapped back with a serious tone.

“Wait! No no no no!! Please–!” you quickly ramble, laughing between the words, “--tell me what you want.”

What you didn't expect, is for his reply to come at you with lighting speed and directly hit you in the face with its outrageousness.

“Maid dress stream.”

Your face heats up as you stare at the image of the call in shock for a few seconds, weighing your options.

Does he want this to humiliate you?

Get a rise out of chat?

He already achieved that, only with that response.

Stir some light trouble for attention?

…

Or maybe he wants it for himself…

‘Nah, no way…’ you shut down that thought immediately, looking off to the side, only a portion of your face visible on stream now.

“...Sure...” came your quiet response after a few long seconds, face burning up even more.

The moment you finish saying it, you see something pop up in the Minecraft chat.

Schlatt gave you creative mode, just like that.

You stare dumbfounded as he begins speaking again. “I'll pick one out and mail it to you. See ya, toots.”

All you hear is the sound of him leaving the call as you lower your head and put your face in your hands.

“I guess we got what we wanted, chat.” you mumble out after a minute of silence, not even sure the microphone picked it up.

Your shared ship name became trending on X that night.

It stayed that way for a few days.

Hey folks, we'd like your opinions on the idea of Phic Phight being it's own server, instead of being part of the DP Fanfic server. We also have a google form so you guys can expand on your answer if you'd like, but also give us any general suggestions, comments or feedback related to the upcoming Phic Phight.

Under the readmore is just some detailed explanations as to why some of the changes.

What would happen if we made a Phic Phight server?

Phic Phight section of the DP fanfic server will be archived from general view. NOT DELETED. Archived. Six months will be given for people to collect what they want before it gets archived. However, you'd still be able to request temporary access at any time to look/get what you want/need.

Joining the discord will become mandatory for Phic Phight participants. You do not have to stay after Phic Phight, and you can be as active/inactive as you wish.

Better event organization information, since users will be pinged when prompts drop and any other important information. Everybody will get it at the same time.

Since it'd be it's own server, we'd be more willing to expand on and add specific features, channels and bots for Phic Phight events.

What if Phic Phight stayed within the DP Fanfic server?

Phic Phight participants will start taking on full responsibility for checking the Phic Phight tumblr in late March/early April for prompts. Mods will no longer be directly messaging them to people.

Related to the above, but no more extensions based on people not getting their prompts. Extensions will still be offered in situations such as mods releasing prompts late or other situations out of user/mod control that effects Phic Phight.

Not having to join yet another goddamn Danny Phantom discord server.

We will continue making updates and changes in-server as needed.

Google Form, if you'd like to expand on anything or just give general feedback

Why would discord membership be mandatory if we made our own server?

It makes it easier for the mods to coordinate everything and for users to communicate. We can more directly answer questions, clarify confusion, give everybody updates at the exact same time, dedicate our announcement spaces to only phic phight, etc. Users can better connect with their team as well and encourage each other.

A big part of Phic Phight is community, especially since more recent additions have made it a good idea to work with your team to help make sure all prompts are filled. Since we're currently attached to the fanfic server, it felt unfair to require membership, but as our own server, we would operate a bit more similarly to Invisobang. Specifically where we're encouraging more collaboration. We're writing phics for each other as well as for our own personal reasons.

What kind of changes would a Phic Phight server bring?

We'd be more willing to expand and add Phic Phight specific features as users and mods seem fit. Current ideas include:

More writing bots

More phic-phight specific channels to collaborate

Random number generators, so you can roll for a prompt or make decisions based on a randomized number

Hosting phic phight focused events, such as regular sprint nights

This is just the current thoughts, but we're open to more ideas within the google form!

This server would also, in general, make it a lot easier to get information strictly for Phic Phight.

Why are mods no longer going to be sending out prompts list? How will I get my prompts? Why no more extensions?

Phic Phight prompts and teams are always consistently released 2-3 days before April 1st, and Phic Phight always lasts the entire month of April. Meaning, you can expect prompts around March 31st at the LATEST. In recent years, they are always released both in the Fanfic server as well as our official tumblr. In the past, due to tumblr constantly changing how messaging works, general confusion and the amount of participants, it's become too difficult for mods to personally make sure everybody has their prompts list.

It wasn't too bad when we had 30 participants, but now we're often getting 100+ people. That's a lot of people to individually check got prompts. It's just becoming harder and harder to make sure everybody got their list, but since we consistently release them around the same time, we decided that regardless of whether we make a new server or not, it's now going to be YOUR responsibility to check for prompts around March 31st.

Having a server means that we'd just be @ everybody-ing when they drop, versus not having a server, where they will still be posted and pinged role, as well as tumblr. Regardless of whether we make a server or not, we will still post the prompts list to tumblr and have it pinned for easy viewing.

Related, we have extended deadlines if a lot of people did not get their prompts, due to the above mentioned tumblr problem. This change would mean that we basically will not be doing event-wide extensions anymore based on tumblr users getting prompts late, which had been a semi-common past problem. We will still offer extensions in events such as mods releasing prompts late or similar situations

It's been a while since you talked about the Anti-Cipherites, so maybe you're no longer interested in them. If so, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I've read the entire tag and got excited to ask questions about them. If you're no longer working on this project, feel free to just ignore me.

This ask is really funny to get because the reason I haven’t talked much HERE about the Anti-Cipher Society is because I co-run a discord server of 50+ people that’s entirely dedicated to the ACS and other obscure gravity falls characters. Safe to say, yes, I’m still interested, violently so. I’m planning to release my HUGE Backlog of art and writing from the server soon, but since a lot was collaborative, it requires some figuring out how to properly indoctrinate the masses.

If you, anon, (or anyone reading this, for that matter) would like in on said discord to talk about the ACS and other obscure gravity falls characters, please feel free to dm me! We love new folks and are very friendly, plus we’re pretty active! If not, just wait, because I’ve got roughly 2k images of backlog and several bits of writings and drabble to share that I’ll be slowly releasing here!

FixTF2: What Happened, Why Did Valve Step In, And What Comes Next?

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with neither Valve nor the people who run the FixTF2 petition. Do not treat anything I say here as any official announcement of any future plans for the movement. All my thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone.

As of the making of this post, the save.tf has officially closed down to new signatures, racking up a generous 343,711 total signatures. I've made my thoughts on FixTF2 clear in the past, where I said that I didn't have much hope that Valve would actually do something, but to my surprise, Valve seemed to have finally stepped in and done something about the bot issue plaguing the game for 5 straight years beyond the usual half-assed band-aid fix. In light of Valve surprising me, I want to talk about what's happened, some speculation as to why Valve is potentially doing this, and what I think comes next from all of this.

So, let's clear some stuff up: Is Casual really bot-free?

From what I've seen and heard, yes!

Starting around June 25th, multiple sources reported a massive drop in the active player count for Team Fortress 2 from Steam Charts, being around 15,000-16,000 users vanishing overnight. Many people suspect this to be a large-scale ban wave Valve enacted, and there is a large amount of evidence to support this. (More info from this video by shounic here) Since then, up until the day this post is being written (July 1st 2024), people have reported that Casual servers across all regions have been fairly bot-free, with only the occasional one popping up, a far cry from a month ago, where servers were flooded with them no matter where you went. I myself even hopped on a few games and to my surprise, there were no bots to be found whatsoever. Its honestly been super refreshing to see the game be this clean, as now its actually fun to play once again. I haven't touched the game in months, but since the bots have been kicked out for a little bit, it feels good to play once more. If you haven't played the game for a while cause of the bots, now's your chance to hop in and enjoy the game. Its actually fun to play now that the bots have been squashed. On top of that, (as of the time this post is being written), Valve appears to still be actively curbing cheaters and bots from the game, even setting up a dedicated Steam support page for anyone who gets a game ban here.

So, why's Valve doing any of this?

This is where I'm going to step into speculation territory, as Valve being Valve means there's barely any information they will share with the public, but I'll do my best to come up with some logical explanations. I would say that Valve doing a ban wave has both a short-term goal and a long-term goal. The short-term goal was Valve was always intending to do a ban wave, it just took a while to do. What I think happened was Valve took a while to collect a database of known bot accounts and (presumably) their hosters, and from there, once Valve felt they were comfortable with the amount they had collected, they pulled the trigger and proceeded to wipe them out. They obviously couldn't just outright say "Hey, we're gonna do a wipe of the bots soon" because that would have given the hosters plenty of time to set up proactive measures to make Valve's job harder. The only evidence I really have for this is the dropoff of players on Steam Charts, which shows around 15k-16k players mysteriously disappeared from the game, which seems to point to Valve issuing a game ban toward said accounts/deleting them entirely. Alternatively, Valve could have banned a limited amount of accounts, much lower than the 15-16k shown by Steam Charts, but it sent a scare to hosters who deactivated their bots and took them off the game once they knew Valve was watching them, but this explanation I don't have much evidence to prove beyond scattered Discord screenshots of supposed hosters telling people to change their bot configurations due to Valve clamping down on them. The long-term goal of this, though far-fetched and lacking evidence to support, could have to do with Deadlock, their next game, as a proactive measure to prevent these same malicious actors from flooding the game on Day 1, something many people have pointed out and what's happened to CS2 not even a year into its launch.

(UPDATE: Ok I might as well address this cause it did come up while I was writing the post, but a Team Fortress 2 DLC for an upcoming Funko Pop game called Funko Fusion was announced, and people have said that the only reason why Valve squashed the bots was because Valve wanted the game to look good in time for the crossover.

Now I am by no means a fan of Funko Pop, I think they look a bit ugly and there's a myriad of other things people take issue with, but that's all outside the scope of this post. I personally don't care that this is happening to begin with, as Funko Pops are something I routinely forget about, so as far as the DLC existing, I don't care that much. That being said, if it is true that Valve only squashed bots due to this collab happening to begin with, then that is pretty sad and disappointing to see, with how Valve wasn't motivated to fix the issue until a different company came knocking and asked them to do something cause they didn't want the DLC to look bad. But since there's no confirmation this is the case, Valve does have some level of plausible deniability here, and ultimately, something good did come from this, at a (to me, cause I couldn't give a shit about Funko) nonexistant cost so I won't complain)

So now time to return to the last part of the question in the title: What comes next?

Well for one thing, the war has not been won yet.

A big mistake with SaveTF2 was once Valve tweeted that they apparently "heard" us and were working to improve things, people largely declared victory and chose to stop there. Yet things didn't substantially improve since then, only cascading into a far worse situation. This time around, we cannot give up as quickly as last time. We are on the cusp of victory, but we need to keep the pressure on Valve. Keep holding them accountable for the bot issue. Put pressure on them to get rid of the bots for good. Don't let them off the hook and give them a slap on the wrist for only repelling the bots for a little bit, because believe me, as soon as Valve stops doing anything and slinks back into the shadows, the bots will return, and they will be far worse than anything we've seen thus far. It happened two years ago, it will happen again if we just declare victory now and go home. What Valve is doing is a great change of pace and they do deserve some praise for what they're doing, but we must make sure they stay committed to fixing the issue at hand. The best time for Valve to fix the issue was 5 years ago. The second best time is here and now. For now, hop on a few games and enjoy the (relatively) clean servers. We've earned a small break after our victory, but once you're done, make sure to grab your best bot-stomping boots, because our job is far from over.

Aspects:

Truth - Truth is the aspect of discovery and revelation. The Truth-bound are difficult to fool, and keep their focus on what is in front of them. They act with practicality, and the aspect itself is tied to rational thought. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Dream. At their best they are rational and calm guides for their friends; at their worst they are uncaring and judgemental.

Dream - Dream is the aspect of lies and imagination. The Dream-bound live in worlds of their own, and their goals are not always obvious to those around them; the aspect itself deals in the nature of falsehoods. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Truth. At their best they brighten the room with their imaginative nature; at their worst they are frustratingly absorbed in their fantasies.

Peace - Peace is the aspect of calmness and protection. The Peace-bound are dedicated to maintaining the status quo, and preventing quarrels amongst their friends. The aspect itself deals with stagnation, love, and comfort. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Hate. At their best they are mediators and lovers who hold their allies together; at their worst they are resistant to change and even oppressive.

Hate - Hate is the aspect of emotion and strength. The Hate-bound hold grudges easily, and will tear down the things they see as being in their way. A Hero of Hate would rather die than allow something that hurts them to continue. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Peace. At their best they are firebrands and leaders, working against oppression; at their worst they are spiteful agitators unwilling to let things go for the greater good.

Flame - Flame is the aspect of change and discovery. The Flame-bound are seekers of the truth, though they are prone to flying too close to the sun and being hurt by that which they seek. They would rather burn the world down and build a new one than try to fix the one that exists. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Ice. At their best they are great artists and leaders, inspiring their allies to change that which they must; at their worst they destroy themselves and those around them with their quests for things beyond their reach.

Ice - Ice is the aspect of isolation and steadiness. The Ice-bound put up walls around themselves, pushing people away to protect themselves and cutting their emotions off. A Hero of Ice is likely to have few true friends, and none who they allow to see every facet of themselves, out of fear. Its counterpart in the fabric of Paradox Space is Flame. At their best they are reliable and steadfast, a source of stability for their allies; at their worst they are cold and unwilling to stand up for themselves, locking away their true thoughts.

Classes:

Saint - Saint is an active class, and its passive counterpart is the Priest. A Saint lives their life by the rules of their aspect, using the structures it sets up to climb to the top of a world they see as ruled by its teaching. As the role of a Saint is highly tied to their aspect, their role in a session varies heavily - A Saint of Life or Space, for instance, will likely be a strong driving force behind the group's success, while a Saint of Doom or Ice may spell the end for the session by their very nature.

Priest - Priest is a passive class, and its active counterpart is the Saint. A Priest allows the rules of their aspect to spread out from them, allowing themself and their allies to use its nature to their advantage. A Priest's aspect will often come to typify much of the session as they spread its teachings amongst their fellow players.

Dame - Dame is an active class, and its passive counterpart is the Aide. The Dame defies the very nature of their aspect, and often bear little resemblance to the archetypal player of that aspect. Their journey through the session is often highly personal, a struggle directly between them and their aspect, though once they are at the end of their journey, they are a force to be reckoned with, having taken the aspects of it that benefit them and left the rest behind.

Aide - Aide is a passive class, and its active counterpart is the Dame. The Aide is a gateway for their aspect, letting its nature out through themselves to defy the enemies of the group. They are highly in tune with their aspects, though not always in a way that others will immediately recognize. An Aide's involvement in a session is often as an unlikely leader, giving the other players something to rally behind when they feel devoid of the Aide's aspect.

Sage - Sage is an active class, and its passive counterpart is the Guide. The Sage is a student of their aspect, seeking to understand everything about its nature; rather than having the information to understand their aspect, like a Seer, a Sage is restricted to seeking understanding through more traditional means. Sages often become the most knowledgeable within their sessions, throwing themselves into their personal quests and embracing the role of the tactician with gusto.

Guide - Guide is a passive class, and its active counterpart is the Sage. The Guide seeks their aspect in order to bring it to their allies; they will often be a confidant and a source of aid or comfort for their allies. A fully realized Guide released into Paradox Space will often come to act as a sort of tutor for another player of the same aspect. Within their sessions, Guides are a centerpoint for the group, assisting other players wherever and however needed.

🌷 ~ Reasons you should be protecting yourself when practising! ~ 🌷

(Read ahead at your own risk, I will be discussing some touchy things in my explanations!)

- Unwanted spell-work results or backfired spell-work. Sometimes we get a result that isn’t up to our standard or is just not the result you were looking for. Sometimes it is a spell that has been done on a person/entity etc that has come back to you for several reasons. For example.. Hitting someone’s wards.

- Unwanted energies. People can unintentionally give off energy (both positive and negative) so it is important to protect yourself from it so it does not affect yours. Some people do give off energy intentionally too.

- Unwanted entities. I feel like this one is self-explanatory. This includes spirits etc.

- Baneful workings from other practitioners. Unfortunately, This does happen. I’ve had it happen to me a few times from people online who I have barely interacted with and do not know personally (from Discord communities too)! This will be TW but I was in a server on Discord that was dedicated for the pagan community and someone decided to send me a nightmare. The nightmare ended up being about me killing my own dog by shooting her in the nose and it was extremely graphic, was very detailed.. I was mortified. I woke up in tears, I panicked etc. It affected my sleep for days and I was constantly worried about my dog during that time period. I have also had people trying to block my spiritual abilities in said Discord communities too.

- Lack of a dedicated religious/spiritual space (except an altar). This might be an odd one to put down but a lot of religions have their dedicated spaces (churches for example) whereas a lot of pagans either don’t have one at all or don’t have access to one. Religious spaces are intended for worship BUT they are also intended to be a protective space for those following that religion. I specifically haven’t included altars under dedicated religious spaces due to the fact that people can create their own and dedicate it to whatever purpose they see fit. My altar for example is a mixture of protective methods and a deity altar.

(Sorry if the terminologies aren’t right im just rambling skhdjsj) (also a lot of them are sieg and elesis aha…)

- Sieghart currently is built like a dancer, lithe and flexible, because of the extra innate godlike strength he got from being a highlander. He doesn’t have to exert as much strength as when he was just a mortal, or like the weight doesn’t affect him that much anymore? Plus, i hc that the highlanders’ style is more elegant and flow-y, compared to the brutishness of the sieghart family’s. When he was younger, around Elesis’ age, he was built more like her. Body builder, bigger muscle kinda look.

- Elesis, as she grows into her late 20’s receives sooooo many “you look just like Sieghart!” Or “you look just like your father!” Comments, but as she grows past 30 and 40, they die down. Because sieghart is stuck in his 30’s, and elscud died (? Disappeared?) in his 40’s.

- sieghart is a jack of all trades, master of none kinda guy.

- Dio and Sieghart have a strange way of being intimate. It isn’t really… intimacy. They don’t do pda, they do something more nothingburger and subtle that it feels more vulgar if you catch them doing it. Its like a game? But not really? Since they’re not trying to hide it either 😭 i don’t know how to describe it. Like the Chase could be in a meeting together and Sieghart/Dio is eating something and one of them goes “blech” and instead of eating the food, they try it from the other’s mouth and then is like “oh ew ur right omg” and then the chase woukd just stare at them.

- dio and sieg are truly, evenly matched in skill. Its a battle of attrition. Though probably sieg has the upper hand since he’s immortal?

- dio’s actually also playboy, just not in mortal sense. He takes up someone every 5 - 10 years, which i hc is the equivalent of changing gfs/bfs every couple of months in demon sense of time. He tries to mean well though, and doesn’t do one night stands.

- sieghart is a one night stand enthusiast. He’s a total flirt too.

- height hc: dio > sieg > zero > ley > grandiel > werner > (noticeable drop) > ryan > lire > jin > rufus > harpe > ronan > asin > lass > edel > rin > elesis > amy > (big drop here) > arme > lime > veigas

- Elesis is a doof and lowkey rich girl coded. “How much is an apple anyway? Like $10?”

- the Chase act more like childish, more their age (more carefree, unburdened, yknow young adults/teens) around Sieghart.

- lass and rufus have the same eye shape. They both take after their mother more.

- Grandiel finds Sieghart to be the best company. They both understand each other very well, and seamlessly fall into conversation no matter how long its been since they last met.

- that’s why when Sieghart found out who Kyle and Cindy was, it stung a little. But he understood, of course. He holds no grudge against Grandiel.

- Sieghart acts like a safeguard for the Chase. He doesn’t want any of them to go through any of this alone.

- Ley, Rin and Sieghart are besties. Wine date trio.

- Lime and Dio also unexpectedly get along well. They’re optimistic people. Two sides of the same coin.

- Rufus cares about Lass more than he thinks. When Lass gets sick, he most definitely appears and lingers around until he gets better.

Rohan Kishibe is nothing if not dedicated. With tunnel visioned focus he has led Pink Dark Boy into fame. And he plans to achieve the same success with his most recent endeavor. The only obstacle that stands in his path happens to be the fact that he absolutely cannot reveal his plans to you. Using your cluelessness to his advantage, he’s devised the most perfect plan to surprise you when time comes. You, the object of his affection, deserve as much attention to detail as his finest artworks, after all. 

It starts with a visit to the jewelers. But not just any jewelers, Rohan finds himself at the entrance of a branded store in Tokyo. The trip wasn’t very difficult to conceal as he had to travel for work every now and then. Despite that, he didn’t enjoy having to lie to his most beloved to justify his absence. 

“I’ve a trip down in Tokyo,” he’d said early in the morning when you two usually share fusion breakfast. “It’s for some research. Pink Dark Boy is entering a new and important arc.” He said it so decisively with a sip of his miso soup that you didn’t think twice to question the validity of the statement. 

Rohan soothed his conscience with the thought of knowing he didn’t truly lie to you as his remark about research was true. The only research he would need to do were of the jewel’s cuts, materials, and strength. The arc in question happened to be because of a heist being conducted by the characters in his manga. It’s most definitely not because any characters are getting married… 

Scoffing to himself, Rohan walks through the store with the haughtiness of an experienced japanese idol, adorning a pair of shades that perfectly coordinate with his fashion for the day. Striding in sleek pants, he stands next to a display of rings and necklaces. With such an exclusive line of gems, the brand requires a special appointment just for customers to be able to browse through or purchase any of their items. It’s not surprising for Rohan when he notices the place is all but deserted save for himself. 

The clerk greets him to which he replies before inquiring about his interest in the items. Staying true to his words to you, Rohan throws a flurry of questions at the poor clerk, trying to learn everything there is to know about diamonds, emeralds, rubies, their formations, types, malleability, and durability. 

“I would like to see some engagement rings as well,” he adds after examining a deep red ruby necklace. It would be the perfect addition to Pink Dark Boy’s heist arc. Mentally sighing with relief, the clerk perks up at the question. 

“Of course, we have some exclusive new cuts here…” 

As he listens to the explanation from the storekeeper, Rohan’s mind conjures images of you. Which ring would be best representative of your beauty, your wit, and your warmth? Finding diamonds a common and boring choice among gems, a particularly glowing opal catches his eye. It’s not large to the point of gaudiness and yet not small enough to go unnoticed. You would truly shine with this ring on your finger… The thought brings an uncharacteristic redness to his cheeks as he realizes the meaning. Fighting his own reflexes to keep his composure, Rohan confirms the purchase. You will be tied to him soon, he thinks… 

“We have a reservation next week,” Rohan tells you, the buzzing of his nerves is secondary to his need for perfection in planning his proposal. Which includes the fact that you must not suspect anything. “So I’ve prepared something for you to wear…” 

Curiously, you gaze over to Rohan’s nonchalant demeanor. It’s not uncommon for him to announce reservations to you ahead of time given his busy schedule and his respect for yours. But Rohan is always sure you will be free. As if he took a look into your agenda somewhat obsessively. You wouldn’t exactly put it past him to do something like that. 

“What is it?” You perk up at the sound of an impromptu gift. Motioning you to your shared bedroom, Rohan brings out a finely packaged article of clothing. It’s gorgeous. Smooth satin  caresses your fingers as you touch the fabric after opening the expensive looking box. 

“Rohan…” You whisper, still not looking at him directly. From the perfect color to the perfect size, you are most certain that Rohan has spared no detail or work to make sure it’s just right for you. Taking your style into account is as easy to him as his own, being a man of fashion that he is. “It’s…” You’re clearly speechless as you turn to his smug expression. 

“I know,” he says. Wriggling his hand over your waist, he pulls you closer. “You like it, yes? I had a feeling.” 

Despite the ring not being in his grasp, now hidden in some deep confine where you will not find it, Rohan’s through gravitate towards the accessory. Believing in perfectionism the way he does, it bleeds into every aspect of his life. Including his marriage proposal to be. Rohan’s hand squeezes an intimate part of your waist as he imagines the color of the stone with your outfit, perfect harmony. 

He’s aware of your deep love for art, a complete reflection of his own affections, and he lets it color his choice for the engagement ring clearly. Subtle but not ordinary, to him it’s a perfect masterpiece made for your hand. 

“Why?” You ask, shattering through his thoughts for a moment. “What’s so special about this occasion?” 

Rohan must not let himself break a single sweat gland in front of you. “It’s an expensive restaurant we’re going to. You’d look like a baboon going underdressed. And you’re much too beautiful to be a baboon,” he smirks proudly at his own joke when you raise an eyebrow. “It’s for Pink Dark Boy,” he says, turning away from you to one of the shelves in your shared bedroom. “There’s a particularly distasteful meal I must try for this new arc. It’s important.” 

With his decisive tone, he turns to you, hoping it answers your question and doesn’t cause you to pry further. 

“...Oh!” None the wiser, you take his word for it. “Well that sounds… gratifying?” You’re both confused and excited. There’s nothing like research for Pink Dark Boy that isn’t exciting. “Tell me what I can do to help, should I taste it too?” 

Rohan puts a hand up to your face. “There’s no need.” The smugness returns to his face. “You just have to sit there and be the second most beautiful and exquisite guest of honor the restaurant has seen — after me of course.”

With that, he departs your shared quarters and you are left to wonder if he was being utterly flattering or calling you useless. In his own way, perhaps, it was Rohan’s display of affection. Despite his words, you know your boyfriend does not consider you second to himself even if he must declare it for his own ego. And being his partner, you only chuckle at his response knowing no true malice behind his words. 

Feeling exquisite in the fabric that Rohan gifted you the week before, and even adding a touch of makeup, you’re somewhat dumbfounded when you meet the humbled entrance of the supposed expensive dining place. With an evening breeze grazing your cheeks and making you feel like a million dollars, you strut as confidently as your partner, containing your shyness to the best of your abilities. 

The exterior of the restaurant is much more deceiving than you realized when you walk into the extravagance of the interior. It’s absolutely like Rohan to book a restaurant so lavish for his research, you think. How peculiar will his distasteful meal be? 

Checked into your reservation perfectly on time, the host leads you both deeper into the establishment. Striding next to your partner you notice the restaurant has small compartments for completely private dining settings. To your knowledge it’s common for businessmen and corporate dinners. Intrigued, you wonder if Rohan was ever brought to a place like this for a meal with his agent or editor. His attire does appear to be an elegant mix of business and pleasure alike. 

“Here you are,” the suited host says, bowing at the entrance to your private compartment, fitted with a sitting pillow and a low table as is common in many expensive restaurants in Japan. Once you’re settled on your pillows opposite one another, the host leaves you two with a menu and asks for your choice of drinks. 

“I didn’t pin you one for tradition,” you quip at your partner while browsing the list of dishes. Thank God for the translations in small text or you would have to ask your boyfriend for help. Not that he would mind it, but you wouldn’t want to interrupt Rohan’s careful scrutiny of the paper in front of him. 

You hear the smirk in his voice before you see it. “And why not? Embracing tradition is hardly condemning the contemporary or the other way around. Besides,” he takes a beat to turn to the list of both international and local alcoholic beverages, “Pink Dark Boy requires far too much attention to detail.” 

You don’t disagree with him as you ask about the arc’s details and how he plans to portray the restaurant experience. “That,” he lilts in airily, “is confidential~” He declares with a self-assured grin. “I doubt Kyoka would appreciate anything leaking.” 

Remembering a similar conversation about the manga and how meticulous his editor truly is, you nod, dropping the subject entirely much to Rohan’s relief. While the restaurant is something he would like to research for the arc, it’s an idea he’s not sure his editor would actually like. It makes him unsure of whether he’d truly use the knowledge for the manga after all. 

As you move onto discussing your orders, Rohan finally mentions the uncommon meal he wants to try. He’d heard of this dish not long ago and it would be lying to say it didn't intrigue him past it being for research. 

“It’s a dish made of locusts and fish sperm,” he confesses. You’re not sure what to say, staring at him with admiration and shock alike.

“What do the reviews say about it?” You ask, knowing he must have made a thorough search of its history. 

“It’s highly praised by food critics for the flavor. But…” He says with a determined look. “I, the great Kishibe Rohan, will be the judge of that.” 

Amused by his theatrics and thoroughly entertained at the thought of your boyfriend nearly throwing up from eating something unusual, you grin at him. You can hardly wait until the dishes arrive, where you ordered an esteemed entree of sushi paired with a delectably expensive beverage, Rohan’s dish… stands out like a sore thumb. 

“This is delicious,” you comment after taking one of the hand rolled pieces. It’s truly worth the money as you know how fast food sushi tastes in comparison. Looking up to see Rohan examining his dish with hard eyes. White, gooey substance and fried bugs adorn his cutlery and you’re not sure whether to look or not when he finally takes a bite. 

As you know, your boyfriend is nothing if not professional, fighting his body to keep himself from making a dissatisfied expression and hardening himself to the effects of the dish. Admiring his determination, you still have to keep yourself from snickering at his crazed eyes and heaving breaths. 

“Are you alright?” You say between hidden giggles. 

“Of course I am!” He tries to say, his chopsticks rattling in unison. Rohan wipes his mouth with a  complementary napkin and feeds himself some ginger to cleanse his palette. You see him release a collected breath before going into an in depth review of his dish. 

No detail of description is left out as he lets you know his candid thoughts about what he just consumed. You’re hauled into a sudden discussion about the facts he knows about insects and fish sperm and Rohan, at the cusp of launching the big question, thinks of why it’s one of the reasons he loves you. The way he could talk about his research in depth without being met with utter disgust or dismissal makes him feel far more intellectually stimulated than he could have hoped. 

The two of you share a few laughs between bites and you watch Rohan unravel his professionalism in the private chambers of the restaurant. It’s intimate and far from prying eyes, knowing he wouldn’t be one for PDA. It’s usually you who initiates any physicality amongst both of you. So you are surprised to feel his hand on your in the middle of the meal. 

He calls your name with a tone you would have not expected from him in a semi-public setting. 

“You’ve been my faithful partner for an adequate amount of time. It is no mere feat to be so exemplary and extraordinary a human. And I say that with high regard to someone outside of myself.” He smirks. “So I want you to…” 

Rohan takes a deep breath trailing from his words. It’s completely unlike him and you’re mesmerized at the way his eyes shift and a redness takes a hold of him. Accompanied by the dim yellow light of your booth and the buzzing in your blood from the alcohol, it’s a combination so addicting, you smile at him with warmth and patience. 

“I want you to understand your importance in my life. This dinner.. While useful for my knowledge has not been just for research. It’s been for the both of us. But especially for you, who deserves a celebration… even more than me. Because, I want you to be my spouse. Please, marry me.” 

The rods are formal and Rohan even bows on his side of the table as he pleads his request. 

“Oh…” the tears come before you can stop them. You cover your mouth in a helpless feature to stop yourself from crying and from shock. “Yes!” You try not to shout your answer when he lifts his head in a steely but moved gaze. 

Watching him produce a box from almost thin air, you wait for him to take your hand as he adorns you with a beautifully intricate gold ring. The opal at the epicenter shines with colorful mirth, bestowing a promise of a happy marriage. 

“It’s perfect isn’t it?” Rohan asks. “It’s art… just like you.” 

His comment, though under his breath, doesn’t miss your ears and beam at him. Out of all the bold dishes you both have during the night, the kiss you share is far bolder. 

“I hope I didn’t taste any of those locusts,” you whisper against his mouth, knowing he won’t be intimate for much longer as the high from your proposal diminishes. 

“You dare question Kishibe Rohan?” He says, smiling into another kiss.

well if its not already quite obvious i am extremely susceptible to propaganda. thats the short story.

long story is: my first ever encounter with chiefzypierce was a one-off mention on one of the clownzy fics i read and i was like. 'oh, cool!' i didnt think anything of it then but i was aware of it by then. then i made this account because i got scared of notifications on my art account and my first instinct when i made this was to start searching for more clownzy content because i love old man yaoi, and it just so happened that some of the really cool clownzy artists i found also drew some art of chiefzypierce. so then i started looking into chief and i found out no WAY this was an actual ship with interactions instead of a crackship someone made off like aesthetics or something. so then i started posting chiefzypierce and people kept encouraging my delusions so i was like okay cool! lets go fujos lets go

i think if you want to learn more about chiefzypierce lav (@reddoonsn1fan) is the one you want to go to for that because its like. The Number One ThatChiefGuy fan to me. like no joke he is insane about that squid (which. fair. but also i am so scared of your dedication lav if you see this i love you but you are Freaky !!!) . otherwise i can give you a basic rundown: chief+clown met for the first time , like actually face to face, on nations, which was basically a social experiment where everyone was sequestered into literal nations. you can watch chief's nations video if you want to know more about that. chief and branzy are friends from echocraft- i wont link a video but im pretty sure they have playlists on their channels from that, they met after chief commented on branzys video asking to collab LOL apparently he sounded so much like a bot branzys wife had to convince him to give chief a chance which is just like. SOOOO fucking funny. and obviously branzy and clown met on lifesteal (yay!!!)

and i guess au wise... well its tough for me to write aus now because i can only think of them in a realistic minecraft context where like, theres a general HUB (aka hypixel or the minecraft start screen or whatever, just some big multiplayer server that everyone kinda mingles in) and they go off exploring in diff worlds for fun. but i have my superhero au! which. Im working on.
