I think one of the things that brilliantly captures Gihun’s intelligence in the show is how his conversations with other characters demonstrates his understanding of people’s motivations, feelings, and needs.

He knows exactly what to say to shake Deoksu’s confidence and disarm a situation that might have escalated into violence.

He knows just which words to arm himself with before the final battle with Sangwoo and in so many of their interactions throughout the show.

He knows how to convince Saebyeok to count on him, knows how to build a bridge she’ll be able to walk over.

He knows what venom to spit at the Recruiter in his last moments to turn the tables on him.
