Imagine Dr. Mobius being your doctor and your her patient, you came into her care because you had a weird and unknown severe illness and Dr. Mobius was determined to fix it + figure out what it was

So over the months, she has been with you and helping you, you fell for her since she was gentle to you and just honestly kind of sweet cuz she was the only one that stuck around you since everyone was scared of getting the illness you had so you eventually asked her out one day and she accepted cuz she loved you just the same!

But over the time after your confession, your illness became worse. You practically had to stay in bed every day because even if you tried to walk your legs would give out or you would start coughing up blood., Dr. Mobius did everything in her power to help you, she would make you food, clean around the house, everything she thought she would never do for someone.

She tried so hard to help you and find a cure for you but your life was fading quicker than she could manage, and the day came where she knew you wouldn't survive the night. She make sure you were all comfy and had everything you need, and then she just took a seat beside your bed. Then she watched you for hours on end, just waiting to see your chest stop going up. just hoping her guess was wrong about you going today.

But it came, and she couldn't hold back the tears. She just grabbed your hand tightly and got into bed with you, pulling the covers over the both of you and snuggling you from behind. She could already feel your warmth fading..

“ ... I'm sorry. I'm sorry we couldn't do everything we

promised. I'm sorry for not being able to help you as your

doctor and as your lover.. ”

okay this is just an idea but what if dr mobius fell in love with one of her test subjects. like reader volunteers to be a test subject for her experiments and after a while she realises she has a crush on them.

this is the exact same thing i thought of but with ruan mei when i was trying to make a fic for her. mobius began to be curious about you when she first saw you. she wanted to experiment some things on you, wanting to see how your body would react to it. she thought maybe it was just... simple little thoughts that can just go away after a day or two. but no. the more she saw your face, the more she grew curious. she just felt like you wouldn't want to volunteer to be her test subject, probably because you don't want foreign substances to be injected in your body, or you don't want to be dissected, or you don't feel comfortable enough. i mean, that's just what she thinks you thought. she didn't expect you to actually volunteer to be her test subject when she was in a dilemma about how to fix an experiment that she was struggling at. she didn't have enough proper resources, and she really needs an alternative choice for a test subject, she just can't think of one. seriously, what or who would be the best test subject at this moment?

then you saw her struggling and the silly person you are just decided to say "hey, i could be an alternative choice if you want me to!" you scared the daylights out of her, but knowing it was you, she was a little surprised and pleasently amused since shes been observing you for a while and was greatly curious about you.

for a while now you've been gladly letting her test her experiments and samples on you no matter if it involved some side effects or if it'll hurt. you had some strong ass willpower. i mean, who wouldn't do anything for this beautiful doctor? you were willing to anyways. but then she started noticing and realising a few things. how pretty you are when you lie down, patiently waiting for her to get her samples. how contagious your smile is when you know her experiment ran smoothly. how courageous you are even when her experiments failed or her samples didn't work, telling her that she'll always have another chance at anything and she can always try again, that things are bound to fail but they can still be perfected if she kept on trying. she fell absolutely head over heels for you and she has no idea what to do. she didn't just want you as a test subject, she wanted you for you. she loved spending time with you, and constantly cherished the times of when you two are bantering and chatting away. she wanted to do more than just experimenting on you. she wanted to kiss you, hug you, cuddle with you and tell you she loves you. she never thought that she would ever fall inlove considering that she has alot of work to do meaning she thought she'd never have the time for romance, but here she is. completely enamored with simply your existence.

Milo X Reader: Eternal

Warnings: stealing, drinking blood, description of puncture wounds, death, dead people, blood.

You feared a lot of things but death frightened you the most. You dealt with death on a daily basis. It was an unfortunate consequence of your profession. Nurses helped save lives but they also had to witness a lot of deaths during their careers. Your fear had been the reason you’d started researching vampirism in the first place. It had started out as a joke, something to help you pass the time. Something to give you hope. But soon enough it turned into a hobby. And then it became an obsession. You’d read every single literature that had been published. You’d exhausted every single web source and had even published some papers about the subject. It was safe to say you’d become an expert on vampirism. So when you flipped on the news and heard the words “the bodies were drained of their blood” you knew exactly what was going on. 

You’d stumbled into work that day, your body shaking in excitement while your mind tried to compute that this was actually real. You managed to sneak into the morgue of the hospital and find the body of the victim.

“Sorry about this.”

The corpse hardly seemed to mind your presence but you still felt like you should apologize for the intrusion. You leaned down, eyes glancing at the puncture wounds on the victims neck. There were two small holes, just like you’d imagined there would be. You placed the body back to its original position and went back to work like nothing had happened. That night you poured over the news, searching for every smidge of information you would find on the culprit. If there was really a vampire on the loose you needed to find them. 

Days passed and you heard nothing about any new victims. The people who arrived at the hospital were all suffering from normal injuries. Well, as normal as you could expect at a hospital. You had started to think your vampire had gone into hiding or perhaps they’d gotten control of their hunger. Both of those options didn’t benefit you in any manner. It would be much easier to get a starved monster to turn you than it would be to convince one who had already developed some sort of control. You were about to give up when there was another attack. You cursed yourself for having the day shift on the day it happened. But despite not being there when it occurred the attack had given you a clue about the culprit. They had access to the lower levels of the hospital. Which didn’t narrow it down all that much but it helped. You also knew that Dr. Micheal had been on the ship where the first bodies had been found and despite people thinking he was responsible for this more recent attack, something told you he wasn’t guilty. 

You’b been analyzing possible culprits for hours now. Your brain was starting to hurt and your eyes were growing tired.

“Okay break time.”

You walked to the nearest bar deciding that maybe getting some alcohol in your system might help you relax and get your brain back up and running. You were sitting on a stool of the bar, sipping your beverage absentmindedly, when the commotion started. You heard the raised voices to your left causing you to turn your head in that direction. There was a group of men surrounding a young woman. You observed the men, not recognizing them until your eyes fell on a particular one. You recognized Milo due to his visits to Micheals lab from time to time. You remembered him walking past the nurses station. Your eyes trailed down to where you were used to seeing his cane but it wasn’t there. You glanced up again, your eyes finally focusing on the way Milo looked. He seemed much stronger than the last time you’d seen him. You continued to watch the conversation, eyes glued to Milo's features. And boy were you glad you’d decided to focus on his face because the moment his features shifted before your eyes you knew you were looking at your vampire. You nearly fell out of your chair as the realization hit you. Once you'd managed to climb off the stool and make your way through the crowd you’d already lost sight of him. You let out a defeated sigh returning to the bar and ordering another drink. 

You spent the rest of the night trying to figure out how you’d get Milo to come to you. Eventually you got sick of the bar and decided to call it a night. You almost made it to your apartment when a scream cut through the silent street. Your body perked up at the noise. Before you could even realize what you were doing your feet were already on the move. You raced in the direction of the sound, eyes moving to look up at the sky in search of any movement. You wouldn’t have noticed the bodies if it weren’t for the smell of blood. You stared at the three corpses slumped in front of the bar you had just been at. A sudden gust of wind made you look up just in time to see Milo jump from one roof to the other. This was it. This was your moment.

You raced back to your apartment fumbling with the keys in desperation as you tried to open the door. You went directly to the small fridge hidden in the closet. You grabbed two bags of blood before rushing back out into the street. For the last few days you’d started stealing blood bags from the hospital. You never took too much, not wanting to draw attention to yourself. You just grabbed enough to have in case your plan worked. You didn’t want to be caught unprepared if you somehow managed to get yourself turned. You’d never been more glad for your overthinking. 

Climbing up the fire escape proved to be more complicated than you had anticipated. For some reason the landlord of the building had never taken care of the stairs which meant they cracked and clanged with every move. Still you managed to get to the roof in one piece and without spilling any of the blood. You stood in the middle of the roof, your eyes searching for any movement before grabbing the switchblade you’d put into your pocket. You cut open one of the bags, dipping your hand in the substance and smearing it against your neck. You applied a generous amount of blood to your body before spreading the rest in a circle around you.  

Now all you had to do was wait. 

The smell of blood was overpowering but you knew that was a good thing. If you wanted to draw Milos attention he had to be able to smell it from far away. You glanced at your watch impatiently.

“What the hell is taking him so long.”

“Well that's a first.”

Your head snapped at the sound of his voice. Goosebumps covered your body as you stared at him. You watched Milo make his way to you slowly. His features weren’t the way they normally were. There was a slightly monstrous look to them.

“I’ve been waiting for you.”

“I can see that.”

 Milo looked you up and down letting out a small hum of approval.

“The question is why?”

Your breath caught in your throat as Milo came closer to you, his face inches from yours.  Gosh he was handsome. 

“This isn’t yours.”

You knew he was referring to the blood. 

“No it’s not.”

“You must be crazy then.”

“I consider myself more of an admirer actually.”

“Is that so?”

There was actual surprise in Milo's face. Was he not used to people wanting him?

“I’ve been searching for you.”

“Why?”

“Because…”

Why had you been searching for him? Had it only been about becoming immortal? Or was there more to it? Could it have been because the thought of spending eternity with someone excited you? You hadn’t been opposed to the idea once you realized who the vampire was. Milo was a very attractive man and something about him made butterflies appear in your stomach. 

“I’m waiting.”

“Sorry. I want to be like you.”

The hand that had wrapped itself around your arm withdrew for a moment. You almost screamed at the lack of contact. Milo looked at you in silence. You could tell there were a million thoughts running through his head.

“I don’t know how to do that.”

“It's okay. I do.”

“What are you? Some sort of fanatic?”

“I’d like to consider myself more of an enthusiast.”

Milo laughed at your words, his hand going back to where he’d placed before. 

“Well alrighty then. I’ll turn you. On one condition.”

“Anything.”

“Leave me alone.”

You gave him a puzzled look. 

“I can’t be stuck babysitting you. I’ve got my own shit to deal with.”

You felt like someone had just plunged a blade into your heart. Was he really that revolted by you? Milo watched your face change from sadness to anger then to acceptance. 

“Fine.”

“Great.”

Milo leaned down, his tongue lapping at the half dried blood that clung onto your skin. You closed your eyes, allowing him to do as he wished. Your hands found their way onto Milo's shoulders as he continued to lick at your skin. Once he seemed satisfied with his work his lips moved to the vein in your neck. You felt the tips of his fangs puncture your skin, a small groan leaving your lips. You could feel the blood leaving your body. Milo's grip on you became even harsher than it had been before. It was then that you realized you’d just given a starved lion a juicy steak.  Getting him off wasn’t going to be easy but you were up for the challenge. You let Milo drink your blood for a while before grasping his hair in your hands. Once you’d started to feel faint you tugged at Milos' hair with all your strength. Despite being much stronger than you, Milo unlatched from your neck when you tugged at his hair. You eyes met his crazed ones for a moment before leaning forward and capturing his lips in yours. You felt Milo's body stiffen. Before he managed to push you away you bit into his lip as strong as you could. You felt the metallic taste of blood fill your lips. You could only hope that it was enough. Milo pushed you off him, his hand going to the gash on his lips.

“What the hell man!”

“I’m sorry it was the only way for me to-”

“You're crazy.”

With that Milo raced to the edge of the roof and jumped.

“Milo wait!”

You went after him. Your body felt strange and your legs wobbled as you tried to run but you managed to get to the edge. You hopped up on the ledge.

“Don’t leave me!”

Your body felt as light as a feather and your vision was starting to get blurry. Before you knew it your body sagged forward. You were falling. You closed your eyes as death came to greet you. The irony of the situation didn’t go missed by you. The last thing you felt before your demise was the feeling of cold metal beneath you. And then you were gone.

Darkness surrounded you. Was this what happened after death? Just a pool of nothingness? Kind of disappointing. You glanced around, searching for something other than pitch black. You’d almost given up when you heard something. The sound was far away but you could still hear it. 

“Mister?”

You blinked your eyes as the harsh light of the street lamp came into view. You groaned, trying to get up.

“Hey mister you should probably stay still. The ambulance will be here any second.”

You glanced at the person talking to you. Your eyes widened as you realized you could hear their heartbeat. Your throat felt raw. It was like you hadn't had anything to drink in years. And your stomach. Good lord. Your stomach ached in a way you’d never felt before. You took a deep breath in as you managed to sit up.

“It’s a miracle you survived the fall.”

You could hear the person talking to you but you couldn’t focus on the words. Your nose had gotten a whiff of blood and your mouth had started to salivate. You turned to look at the person beside you.

“And don’t even worry about the car. I’m just glad you’re alright. 

You felt the muscles in your face shift as you watched the person's eyes widen. 

“What the he-”

Before they’d even managed to get the rest out you pounced. Your fangs grew as you opened your mouth. You sank your teeth into the person's neck, cutting off their scream as you finally got a taste of what your body so desperately craved.  You felt their body sag into the ground as you drank them dry. Once there wasn’t any more blood you unlatched yourself from their corpse. You looked up at the moon and grinned. Your body had never felt stronger. You felt invincible. No. You were invincible. A strangled laugh made its way out of your lips.

“Eternal at last.”

A Kalpas x Apathetic!Reader fic, Chapter 1 below!

A large crowd had gathered around the window overlooking the testing arena. This wasn’t unusual, any time there was a new MANITS, everyone wanted to get a feel for them. Sakura and Kalpas had been walking by when they saw the group. The instant everyone noticed the two, they parted, leaving space for them at the window. Dr. Mobius’ voice was muffled through the thick glass as she explained the exercise to the new soldier. Except they weren’t new at all.

“We saw them about a month ago, remember?” Sakura looked to Kalpas who looked wholly uninterested. “The test got shut down because they couldn’t…manage the Honkai energy inside them.” She was trying to be polite about it, but you had struggled to remain human when you first had the Meta-Morph Surgery.

Back then, the test had been shut down and the arena filled with gas to subdue you. You weren’t the first to have this issue, but it wasn’t often that people came back to the testing grounds. Yet you stood in the center, not necessarily proudly, but your stance oozed a calm confidence as you drew your sword and turned it in your hand, so the blade rested along your forearm.

When the buzzer sounded to start the test, you crouched into a low stance, and lunged at the first training mech. Though any sound would have been muted by the glass, no shouts came from you at all; the only noise coming from the mechs and the ringing of your blade. Compared to the snarls and yells you’d let out the last time, this was a complete one-eighty.

That didn’t seem to impact your performance, however. Just as before, you left a pile of sparking scarp metal in your wake. Unlike before, you made it all the way through the trial this time. You were one of about ten agents who had completely finished the fight, and you even shaved a good fifteen seconds off of Kalpas’ time.

But there was no smile on your face. No pride for your accomplishment, no nervous grin from adrenaline, or tears from having to fight. Your face was as blank as before, and even Sakura couldn’t read it. More muffled words came from Dr. Mobius, through the speaker, and you exited the field. Describing your walk as ‘robotic’ wasn’t quite accurate. There was no human waver in your steps, just one foot in front of the other in the most efficient manner.

“Oh?” Kalpas now looked very interested in your fight, one hand on the glass with his arm outstretched to support himself while he followed your every move. Sakura could hear the grin in his voice and knew exactly what was coming next. “I wonder if they could stand up to my flames?"

She just rolled her eyes an started making her way back out of the crowd. “Yes, yes, we get it,” she waved a hand, the other keeping a firm grip on her swords. “You like fire. I’m sure they’ll be willing to spar with you once they’re cleared.”

Kalpas scoffed, but followed his teammate anyway, as they headed to the hangar for their next mission.

You had been released from the medbay the day after your test. Around four days have passed since then, and you spent most of them in the training grounds. Few were willing to practice with you, though they all seemed perfectly happy to stop and watch you break “unbreakable” equipment.

The short wall you’re supposed to use as cover? It was much more useful as a shield. Punching bags? If they were that flimsy, they should’ve been replaced long ago. The holoroom program? It’s stupid that it would only go to ninety-nine levels.

People staring at you didn’t bother you at all, but they all looked away as though caught doing something horrible when you glanced over. Maybe it was the dead-eyed stare you gave? Or maybe they just remembered they should been focusing on their own work? You couldn’t understand the first reason, but you weren’t deaf to rumors, and your blank face seemed to be a common topic.

Today was going well, though! It was only ten in the morning, but you’d gotten a good amount of practice in and hadn’t broken anything yet. So you were confused when you heard shouting, at least, until someone threw open the training ground doors.

“Kalpas is back!” Everyone scrambled, some even running into each other in their panic. A few bumped into you, but you righted them, and they were on their way without a word. After around thirty seconds, the whole place was empty. It looked like a ghost town; water bottles and towels abandoned, and the only sound was the hum of the air-con.

You began stepping through your sword forms again, ignoring the lack of people around you. Mid-step, the doors burst open again, with so much force, they hit the walls. Now you understood where those dents came from.

Wanting to identify whatever just came in, you looked in the mirror in front of you, though you didn’t stop your training. Seeing that it was only another MOTH, you continued your work. You hadn’t seen him before—you would remember that mask—but given how little time you had really been on base, that wasn’t surprising.

His shirt had bur marks around the collar, he’d probably just gotten back from a mission. He also had..floating pauldrons? Maybe not the best taste in fashion but it wasn’t your place to judge. Given the fact that his pants looked a size too small, it seemed entirely possible that he simply didn’t understand how clothes worked. There were certainly weirder people in Fire Moth.

Moving into the next stance, you returned your attention to the task at hand and only listened as you heard the other agent stomp around the gym. At some point, he must’ve used his eyes, because he found you nearly a minute later, despite the fact that you were right across from the door.

“Hey,” his voice was deep, rumbling through the empty room, even though he hadn’t spoken very loudly. You filed that away for later. Sword work was what you were doing right now. The agent called again, louder this time and you could hear the irritation in the word, though you didn’t understand why he was mad. Just before he reached to physically grab your attention, you finished and gave the man what he wanted.

The temperature in the room had risen quite a bit, which was odd. You could still hear the air-con running full-blast, but sweat was rolling down your back as though you’d been exercising for hours. Then you understood. Flames were coming off the other MOTH—surely a MANTIS—in wisps, though the heat did nothing to him. It was, at the very least, interesting to watch.

When a piece of his white hair turned orange with embers, he didn’t even seem to notice. Reaching over, you pinched the ends, putting out the dim glow. Through this entire exchange, your face remained in the exact same emotionless state, even when your fingers should have been burned from his fire. Irritation was shown in every part of the agent’s body language.

When his gloved hand grabbed your wrist, your eyes snapped to the point of contact, but they held no fear. For that split second, your thoughts went in this order:

1: That is a very soft glove.

2: He has a very firm grip, possibly a grappler.

3: This is a good position for him to flip me if he just—

The man yanked your arm, so you fell forward with his left arm, then turned and lowered his right shoulder so you were forced to fall onto it. With your feet off the ground, he continued the momentum and rolled you over his back, causing you to land on his other side, face up, with a solid thud.  Thank goodness the whole training room was covered in mats.

Staring straight ahead at the ceiling, you mumbled a soft “I see,” to yourself. On the other side of the room, Kalpas was furious that your face still hadn’t changed on bit, remaining in the same dull expression. With a shout of pure rage, he brought his fist down where your head was, but you rolled to the side and were on your feet.

Still kneeling on the ground, he looked up at you, who hadn’t even moved into a defensive stance. Lurching forward with speed only a MANTIS could have, Kalpas jumped in the air and looked ready to grab you again, but you easily moved out of the way. Once he landed, he threw several punches, forcing you to back up, but you still made no move to fight, and showed nothing more than possibly boredom.

At the end of the rush, Kalpas growled, “Fight, damnit!”

“If that’s what you wanted, you could’ve asked,” you delivered the line in the most lackluster tone he had ever heard, but your hands finally came up, and that was good enough. The floor shook as Kalpas stomped into the ground and a pillar of half melted rock appeared. How he managed that, you weren’t sure, but it was here now, and he was picking it up like it was a baseball bat.

Swinging it like one, too. Rock shattered as it came in contact with your left arm, which was held out slightly as protection. The dust cleared just in time for him to see a light shimmer around your arm that was gone in a second.

He wouldn’t have questioned it, but you didn’t give him the chance either way. In one motion, you were launching yourself at him and pulling back a punch aimed at Kalpas’ midsection. Just looking at you, he was confident he could take the punch and turn it against you, but that wasn’t the case.

Observant by-standers would see that shimmer form a hard shell over your fist, just as it came in contact with your opponent. Kalpas was sent all the way from where you’d been practicing, back several meters to the doors. His gloved hand tore into the mats to stop his movement, and he growled when your eyes met.

“I didn’t expect you to go that far,” you hummed and rolled your wrist as both you and Kalpas reset. Circling around each other, he made the first move again.

This time, he slid across the ground on his hip, catching you off-guard and sending you crashing towards the ground. Then he was up and catching you by the back of your sword belt before you could fall, only to throw you to the side into one of the punching bags.

You let out a quiet “oof,” as the punching bag fell from the ceiling and onto your back. But still you showed him nothing. Where was your anger, your passion for the fight? Even a look of shock at being thrown like that would’ve been satisfying, but it didn’t happen.

Kalpas stalked over to where you stood patiently. Your stance was solid, but you were lighter on your feet now, ready to move in any direction instead of staying in place and blocking. Your opponent—you should ask for his name after this—took long strides, melting the plastic mats with each step. More of his hair was burning now, and if he wasn’t about to attack you, the flames all around him would make a beautiful image.

“I’m sure you two are having fun,” a light voice came form the doorway. Elysia was the only MOTH to willingly speak to you, and you recognized her voice in an instant. The other MANTIS must’ve caught on at the same time; he stopped where he was, though fire still filled the air surrounding him.

“But you’ll destroy the gym at this rate,” the girl giggled as though the room being on fire were a funny thought. “Please, have a little self-restraint.” At the last word, you froze and stood ramrod straight, your eyes widening in the most expressive face you’d shown all day.

Kalpas was still facing you and saw the sharp intake of breath, and the way your fists clenched, all for but a moment before you were back to the same old look.

“Apologies,” you looked past him to Elysia as though he weren’t there.

“Why don’t we go get dinner,” the girl came over and grabbed your hand, smiling the whole time. “You’re welcome to join us Kalpas.”

“Pass,” he scoffed with a wave of his hand as you were dragged away.

Definitely not ripping from FMA, nope, I would never. Also, reader is STRONK. I hope you liked this chapter because this is as good as it gets, it's all downhill from here.

It was quite cramped in the sleeping bag obviously but it was nice, warm and relaxed! Dr. Mobius just allowing you to rest on her chest as her arms protectively wrapped around you as you slept and than her whispering something in your ear, words that she wishes to tell you when you are awake <3

Young Herrscher Reader x Fire Moth Members

Author Note: Sorry this took so long and for any grammar error that you may find here. I’m been busy with college, among other things. Also, I do not know much about the other five flame-chasers [Global Player] and also apologize in advance if they’re a tad bit OOC...

Dr. Mei

When Dr. Mei heard that Fire Moth had somehow managed to detain a Herrscher without killing them, she was surprised and even a bit excited as nothing like this had ever happened in history.

However, she was not prepared to see a young kid in their cell, chained to the wall and treated no better than a wild animal. She was even more horrified to learn that the child (you) were the Herrscher that everyone in Fire Moth was talking about.

Although she did not agree with the violent and degrading methods they used on you, she knew that there was not much she could do alone. Thankfully, she had the immediate aid of Dr. Mobius on her side when the other scientist learned of the Herrscher Fire Moth was housing in a cell and she was able to get you out of the damp and dirty cell. Unfortunately, the compromise was that a bomb was to be implanted inside of your chest alongside a Honkai energy detector - something she was not comfortable with doing for a multitude of reasons...

Your time spent with Dr. Mei was almost always under the supervision of Kevin who did not trust you one bit, especially after the incidents with the 6th [Death], 7th [Fire], and 10th [Legion] Herrschers. During this time, she would ask you to simply help her around the lab in the same manner that Klein did for Mobius and not speak much with you. She was still coming to terms with the insanity of her whole situation: a Herrscher was helping her file papers and run errands.

When Kevin is not around due to missions, Dr. Mei tries to make small talk with you not just to lighten the mood up or to dispel the otherwise suffocating atmosphere, but because she was interested in what your hobbies and story was. The first couple of months mostly consisted of you giving vague answers that purposely did not spark much conversation and soft mumbles, afraid that you might say too much and drive her to tell you to shut up.

Over time, you slowly open up to the scientist, still insecure of over speaking but Dr. Mei was a patient woman and quietly listened to everything you said. She eventually understands what was making you so shy and would always tell you to continue whenever you pause mid-sentence with a small smile and pat on your head. Were these maternal instincts always a part of her or did they form when the purple lines on her neck sealed her fate?

"Hm? What's wrong? Why did you stop? What happened next?...Oh, I see. Don't worry about speaking too much, you aren't a bother. You never were.”

Kevin Kaslana [I] - Deliverance

Kevin remembers the day when he made the mistake of allowing the Herrscher of Death to roam free all too well. He vowed to himself to never repeat that mistake and you were no exception.

For the first time since they joined Fire Moth together, the hero of humanity and his significant other argued about letting you walk around the base without any supervision. Dr. Mei defended you under the guise of justifying her decision while Kevin reminded her of everything the Honkai has put them through. In the end, neither of them won but both of them lost.

Kevin shadows you from a distance, ready to put you down the exact moment you showed any signs of hostility towards anyone. But all this means is that he is slowly learning more about you without fully knowing it. He learns of what you like, dislike, and who in Fire Moth actually talks to you [just the other main MANTISes really]. He can see for himself just how human you truly were...

Tired of this cat and mouse chase, however, Kevin finally decides to confront you when you were alone in Eden's Golden Courtyard: a private area where gorgeous flowers were abundant and near extinct plants/fruits grew. That alone should have been more than enough for Kevin to realize that you were still human if Eden allowed you in her garden.

When he approaches you while you were kneeling in the middle of field of flowers, working on something, he has his guns at the ready to be upholstered and fired if needed. Fear and horror were expressions he was expecting to see on your face but instead you looked up at him with surprise at first before it turned to happiness.

Gesturing for him to crouch down, he refuses to but begrudgingly does so in the end, reasoning to himself that you were no threat and believing that he was quick enough to pull the trigger of Shamash. His readiness and alertness were not enough for him when you placed a crown of flowers that could grow in extreme cold on his head. It takes him a few minutes to process what just happened and by the time he came around, you had turned your back to him, working on your gift to the others.

You were vulnerable. You were powerless. Your blood could have soaked the flowers if he wanted to commit such a crime. Yet, he couldn't bring himself to do it anymore...

"Hey, Mr. Kevin. Can you help me? I don't know what flowers Ms. Mei likes..."

"...Of course." Kevin slowly nods and sits down in the field of flowers, the pistols of Shamash dissipating from their holsters.

Elysia [II] - Enigma

Elysia was a walking phenomenon. She could befriend just about anyone if she really tried. Kevin. Aponia. Kalpas. Mobius. Perhaps, the four most troublesome out of everyone you were acquainted with.

Naturally, of course, her gaze was locked on you when she heard the rumors of a captive Herrscher. Unlike Mobius who watches you from the shadows, Elysia will most definitely be making her presence known to you as much as possible.

She has an interest towards things that are cute, pretty, and beautiful. You happened to fill all three criteria with you being so young and a Herrscher, respectively, with the third being checked off since you were a combination of the previous two. What could be more beautiful than someone as young as you were managing to suppress the Will of the Honkai?

Elysia's intelligence gathering network was scarily efficient and sooner or later, she knew everything there could be known about you. Terrifying was not enough to describe her knowing your routines and exact location, was it?...

Whenever she was around, your internal warning system known as the lingering Herrscher "persona" would alert you of her whereabouts. You didn't understand what was so dangerous about this odd but sweet woman that could scare a Herrscher, though, you knew better than to argue with them.

It takes a lot of time until the Herrscher lets you interact with Elysia and soon regrets their decision when they see the pink-haired fawning over you with her overbearing older sister instincts - pinching your cheeks, patting your head, and hugging you when you least expect it.

"Big Sis Elysia is here with presents, (Your/Name)! Hey, you want to know something cool? ... Cool, right? Now you have more of a reason to call me Big Sis!”

Eden [IV] - Gold

Eden is much like Elysia as in how you would most definitely be spoiled to death if she was your caretaker. Initially, she may have had her worries when she heard of Fire Moth capturing a Herrscher that was to remain under Kevin’s gaze, but when she sees you locked in a cage, all doubts were cast out the window.

Seeing the sad look on your face reminded her of her earlier days as a singer, when she made her debut by singing for a charity meant to raise money for orphans. From that point on, she strongly opposes the thought of killing you and made her stance on the matter clear to the others.

Eden consults Elysia when she wants to give you a present and there is no limit to her funds. Together with the latter, they’ll go on shopping sprees to find the best gifts and trinkets for you to keep as a reminder of their trust.

“If you need anything, then don’t hesitate to ask me, (Your/Name). I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Kalpas [VI] - Decimation

Kalpas wanted to kill you, not because you were a Herrscher, but because that was how he was and that was before he learned that you were just a kid, no older than Rin and Sakura shared his sentiment.

Contrary to what many believed, Kalpas didn’t want to fight you to the death, or, at least, not right now when you weren’t even at the age to drink. He could barely manage to keep his bloodlust and natural “charisma” in check when Rin was around, however now that you’re around the base 24/7, it’s been a struggle for him to keep it all in.

Eventually, he asks you to fight him so he could gauge your powers. Honestly, him asking you rather than attacking you outright like he sometimes does to others, speaks volumes of his behavior towards you. Of course, he wins but he doesn’t consider it as so since afterwards, he is scolded by Elysia and Kevin - the both of which only stop when you intervene. He would rather die than admit that he cares for you and silently prays that Elysia doesn’t mention it in her “Guide to understanding Kalpas.”

“Herrscher. Let’s go. It’s time for your training. You’ll need it to survive... You don’t want to train?... You wish to make dolls with me? Why ask me this?... Who told you about that...?”

Su [VII] - Bodhi

After his MANTIS surgery, Su gained the powers to read the minds of the people around him which he could have done to an extent beforehand. Although, he didn’t need this mystic power to sense the unrest of his fellow flame-chasers when they found out the identity of the next Herrscher was someone so young.

Even those who didn’t know Su on a personal level knew that he was a gentle man with a kind heart, much like Eden. Due to his light-hearted nature, he was almost always the one who watched over you, though, Eden was still the number one choice since he sometimes lost you because of his habit of keeping his eyes closed and the latter wouldn’t dare to drink with you around.

The one edge Su had over Eden was he was able to read your mind and understand what was troubling you if you were ever upset. And, through this, he was able to communicate with the Herrscher persona, getting to know them as well. When it was simply the three of you, he would also ask for their opinion, which they appreciated and accepted as one of the few that they trusted to be alone with you.

As the one rumored to have “transcended this world.” Su has much wisdom to impose upon you so you do not grow up to be a problem like Mobius or Kalpas, especially since you were a Herrscher - a incredibly young one at that. When you were a bit younger, Su had little to no trouble keeping you interested with his lessons. But, as time ran its course, you were beginning to leave him behind more often than not. 

“(Your/Name). Nothing will stay the same forever, that goes for you too. Please, relax and enjoy the wonderful life ahead of you.”

Sakura [VIII] - Setsuna and Rin

Sakura always believed that showing mercy to her enemies was the greatest harm she could have imposed onto herself. However, she began to have second thoughts after meeting you for the first time. To see someone around the same age as Rin was an uncomfortable sight and made it difficult for her to envision you as anything else, certainly not as a civilization-wiping Herrscher.

As antisocial as Sakura was, she still felt obliged to put you at ease, her older sister instincts taking over. Though, she knew when to back off if you were to ever feel overwhelmed by your current situation and waits for you to calm down. This patient and passive approach to befriending you proved to be effective as you went out of your way to initiate the conversation instead of her, in most cases.

Sakura was particularly glad to learn that you and Rin were able to hit it off almost immediately and become quick friends only several hours after meeting each other. Even though she knew that it would be difficult, she made it her mission to one day set you free from that prison and perhaps to live in peace with Rin and her.

“Rin, eat slower or I’ll have to separate the two of you. I don’t want (Your/Name) to pick up that bad trait from you.”

“What? Big Sis! (Your/Name) and I are inseparable! You can’t have one without the other!”

Mobius [X] - Infinity and Klein

Mobius...is a fascinating case, alongside Aponia, since no one could predict what plans she had in mind for you - if she had any, that is. The Herrscher inside of you as well as your own instincts ensured that there was never a situation in which it was only you and Mobius in the same room, together and alone. However, that was still that childlike fascination that pushed you to find her after a while.

Sneaking past the normal non-MANTIS soldiers was more than easy and it was even more easy to leave Su while he had his eyes closed. At first, Mobius was surprised to see that the “little specimen” had managed to make it to her laboratory without being caught by their friends. Then, in the next moment, she was back to her normal dangerous-looking self and asked you a wide variety of questions while you answered each one with that innocent naivety that she found cute. By the time the others realized that you were missing, Mobius was already taking the lift up with you in her arms, well aware that Dr. Mei and Elysia would be interrogating her throughout the day to figure out what she may have done to you.

Someone like Klein was a first for you since you had never saw an ELF before and you returned the favor by asking her a multitude of inquiries, much to Klein’s annoyance and Mobius’s amusement. It didn’t take long for Klein to warm up to you with how accepting you were towards her and, although she would never admit it, Mobius was secretly glad that Klein had someone around her “age” to be friends with.

“Little specimen, come here for a second... Hm... I never experimented on a Herrscher before, would you like to try it? I’m just kidding, of course -... ‘I’ll do anything that big sis Mobius asks for?...’ Oh~? A very enticing offer, but, I’ll wait for when you get a little older. For now, run along, little specimen, and remember your promise~”

Hua [XII] - Vicissitude

Hua was the most shocked out of everyone to learn of a Herrscher that the Will of the Honkai had failed to corrupt, vividly remembering how sudden Himeko’s transformation was. Hesitantly, she agrees with the other’s decision to allow you to live, but did not trust you one bit, if at all. Her previous experience with Herrschers left a lot to be desired.

Despite the hostility she directs at you, you constantly follow her around with those wide and innocent (Eye/Color) eyes of yours that she is unable to find the same disdain towards humanity that many of your predecessors had. It takes some time, but eventually, even Hua feels compelled to watch over you from time to time.

For some reason, Hua finds herself a natural of having to deal with bratty Herrschers... Regardless, Hua is even more patient than Sakura and can put up with you even in your more difficult phases. And, if it gets too much, she would use Fenghuang Down to make you dream of a perfect utopia for yourself. But, the surprise is on her when she takes a quick peek to see that it hasn’t changed much from your current situation and feels warm seeing that she is also there in your perfect world.

“(Your/Name), here... It’s a jade necklace that my father gave me on my last birthday with him before... I wanted you to have it so you never forget me. Please, take care of it.”

Aponia [III]

However, she will accept your decision nonetheless if you decide to decline her offer and is glad to hear your promise to come back every now and then. If you do choose to stay with Aponia, then she will provide you with the best accommodations she is capable of. Just make sure to not make the sweet lady angry...

Vii-V [V]

Vii-V’s many personalities was confusing to deal with since many of them had different opinions about your existence. Some thought it would be wiser to kill you while others thought the opposite and wanted to be friends with you, seeing the bigger picture and imagining the inventions that only a Herrscher could handle.

No matter the situation, the hostile personalities will warm up to you in due time, but in the mean time, you’re stuck wondering if Vii-V was in the mood to talk about her latest tinkers or to drive you away with a pitchfork.

“Yo, (Your/Name)! Got another gadget that I wanted you to try out!... Hm? Will this hurt you in any way? Hey! It was a one time thing and, even then, it was an accident! Have a little more trust in me, will ya!?”

Kosma [IX] and Griseo [XI]

Kosma already has trouble talking to other people and was wondering how he would talk to you if he was given the chance. Thankfully, around you, he didn’t feel nervous like he would around people like Kevin and Kalpas, and could feel at ease. Even if he was silent, you somehow managed to interpret his thoughts without taking a single glance at Elysia’s “guide to speaking with Kosma.”

Griseo believed that her palette could use some new colors, but wondered how she could find something new. Then, Aponia introduced you to her and Kosma, and she found the new colors she was searching for: the colors of a Herrscher. When she sees your interest in drawing, she offers you her paintbrush and teaches you. Although, you were not as good as her, the simple painting of you, Kosma, and Griseo together was more than enough to bring a small smile on both of their faces.

Pardofelis [XIII]

Pardofelis never actually realized that you were a Herrscher the first time you two met and didn’t even know until many months later when it was briefly mentioned like it was normal...which it was to an extent. At first, she wondered if she should treat you as a special customer, but she merely shrugged and shrugged the idea off. Her reaction was by far the calmest.

“Mmmhh~! That was a good nap... Eh? (Your/Name)!? Were you here the entire time?... You didn’t steal anything from my shop, did you?”

3 Seconds to Feel Safe

A Werewolf!Kalpas x Hunter!Reader fic, chapter 7 below!

When you woke up, you felt warm. Like you’d been wrapped in blankets that had been left in front of the fireplace. A lot of blankets apparently, if the weight you felt was any indicator. Even though you couldn’t move—not that you wanted to—the weight on top of you was only a comfort. Letting out a content sigh, you shuffled further into your blanket fortress. More movement came after you had settled, and it made you frown and let out a grumble of annoyance. A low rumble came in response, and your eyes shot open.

The first thing you saw was a wolf looking you dead in the eyes. Instantly, any sleepiness fled your mind, and you only got more concerned when you couldn’t move your arms. You were just about to shout for help when a cold nose was forcefully shoved into your neck, causing you to yelp instead. But the fact that it was a nose and not jaws at your neck meant this wasn’t just a regular wolf, and given how warm you were…

“Kalpas?” Another rumble answered your question, but now you had a hundred more. “What’s going on? Where are we?” you turned your head to the side, but all you could tell was that you weren’t at home. “Why are you on top of me? Where’s Madikis?!” A growl cut you off, and you bit your tongue. Kalpas stood and stretched, his claws frighteningly close to your head, then he hopped off the bed and padded out of the room.

Pulling the blanket up to your chin, you tried to retain as much of his warmth as you could. Was he still mad at you about the letter Fire Moth sent? Or that you had essentially attacked his home? Before you could spiral much further, he walked back in and graced you with his human form.

“You can kill werewolves on a daily basis, but you get beaten by a phoenix?” he scoffed. His arms were crossed as usual, but he was just standing next to your bed, staring down like a disapproving parent.

“Silver kinda just melts when you try to stab them,” you shrugged. “Sit with me?” Kalpas ignored your request and continued speaking.

“I’m beginning to think you beating me was a fluke.”

“No, you just always went after the others. If you’re not gonna sit,” you tried to reason, “can you at least stop glaring?”

“No.” Asshole.

“Where are we?”

Kalpas finally looked away from you to stare out the window. “Why does it matter?”

“What happened at Fire Moth?”

“I saved your sorry ass.”

“How’d you know where I was?” you frowned a little in confusion. Kailah was the only one who knew where you had gone, most people in your town probably hadn’t even noticed you’d left. Kalpas looked ready to snap at you, but just then the door opened, and Kailah threw herself into the room.

“You’re awake! Oh, I knew you’d wake up, but I got so worried when you didn’t come back! What if you had gotten lost? Or caught? Or killed!? I just couldn’t live with myself if you got hurt. Madikis says you ran into Dr. Mobius? How is she? What happened with Hua-!” Seeing both you and Kalpas glare at her, Kailah stopped and looked a bit sheepish. “Sorry. I just missed you,” she smiled and sat next to you on the bed.

“Can you tell me what happened? Someone,” you glared at Kalpas, “is being secretive.” He just glared back in response, but Kailah seemed unbothered by the exchange.

“When you didn’t come back, I realized something was wrong,” she spoke in a serious tone you’d never heard her use before. “The compass you used to track Kalpas was right on the table, so I went out looking for him.”

“You’re just filled with bad ideas, huh?”

“What’s that mean?!” she looked offended at your jab and you laughing didn’t help.

“First you send me into a fortress full of people that want us dead. Then you go running out to find a werewolf in the middle of the night!”

“You do it all the time! Besides, I knew he would help.”

“How could you know that?” your eyes strayed over to Kalpas who seemed very adamant about staying out of the conversation.

“Because…well, you know.”

“I wouldn’t be asking if I knew.” Your friend let out a sigh and fell back on the bed, so she lay on your legs.

“I don’t know, I just figured since he never hurt you, he’d be willing to save you.” You wished Kalpas would say something instead of standing there brooding, but he was quiet. Kailah eventually sat up and pulled you out of the bed. Leaving the warm burrito you had made caused you shiver, but you couldn’t just curl up in bed forever.

Being led out of the room, you saw several doors down the halls and realized this must be an inn. Downstairs, you ate breakfast and Madikis joined you both. After thanking you for helping him, he and Kailah were back to their mushy ways. Between sappy comments, they explained that you were all on the run. After another night in this inn, you’d move to another, and keep traveling until you got far enough from Fire Moth to be safe. Having helped Madikis escape, you were officially an outlaw, and there was no way you could return to your home.

Once you were done eating, you went back to your room to process where you had just learned. Kalpas was still there, sitting in one of the chairs and staring off into space. Did this man do anything other than brood? You weren’t much better, sitting on the bed and just looking out the window.

You’d lost nearly everything you worked for. Your town, your reputation, your friends, your resolve, all taken by Fire Moth. Even if you found somewhere to live, you couldn’t fight anymore, or you’d be immediately recognized. Settling down seemed rather unlikely when you were traveling with a werewolf, a very powerful witch, and a hyperactive alchemist. Honkai was everywhere, meaning Fire Moth was everywhere, and the four of you would be forced to keep moving, or set up a permanent camp somewhere no one could find you.

“Stop that,” you looked up when you heard Kalpas growl. “Your stupid worrying won’t fix anything.”

“Oh, yeah, I’ll just stop being anxious,” you rolled your eyes and went back to looking out the window.

“I didn’t save you just so you could get captured again,” Kalpas spoke so softly it immediately caught your attention. “I won’t let them touch you.”

You had lost track of how long you’d been staring out that window, worrying about the future, but when Kalpas said that you really believed him. In the span of three seconds, he managed to make you feel safe.
