Prince of Vale part 14

(been a while huh?)

Jaune: *letting himself fall onto his bed, letting out a long sigh of despair*

Ren: *copying his own notes to Jaune's, making sure he's caught up with the school subject* Rough day?

Jaune: *sigh* Let's see; We didn't find any clues on Jacques killer, the oligarchs are blaming me for his assassination even though it would give me no advantage whatsoever, the merchants of Vacuo are celebrating his death and Mistral... Isn't acting up, but considering they are allied to Atlas, i wouldn't be surprised if that changed on a dime.

Ren: *wince* Any good news?

Jaune: ... I guess Winter seems to like me a lot more than her sister? At least we can actually talk without her glaring holes through my head. *Sigh* I wish i could delegate more to my sisters...

Pyrrha: *snap her fingers* Speaking of, i was wondering; Why didn't one of your sisters take the throne? Aren't you the fifth in line?

Jaune: *shake his head* No idea. Something about being chosen, but they didn't give me much details... Anyway, it's not as if they didn't have responsibility themselves.

Pyrrha: *curious* What do you mean?

Jaune: *turning his head towards her* My eldest sister is the current general of our army. The second oldest is a diplomat in Argus.

Pyrrha: Oh right, Saphron De Valois. I've heard a lot about her actually. Gentle, beautiful; the kind of woman everyone should aspire to be.

Jaune: *chuckle* She's a big fan of yours, i'll tell her that next time i see her. *Looking back at the ceiling* Third one is in charge of the economy; Thank god I don't have to deal with that or i'd have jumped from the cliff straight up. *Pensive* I'm not too sure about my fourth sister; she's always been kind of secretive.

Nora: Oh! You think she's the head of the secret service?

Jaune: As if we had that.

_ meanwhile _

Cinder: *listening to the conversation* He still doesn't suspect anything of our existence. *Sigh in relief* Thank god...

Mercury: I'm surprised; with how much un-discreet we were these past few weeks, i was sure he'd caught on.

Emerald: You'd suspect students from another country to be YOUR secret services?

Mercury: *pensive, then shrug* ... I guess not. Good thing Cinder's blunder can be simply explained by her having a crush- *feeling the obsidian blade under his neck* Am i wrong though?

Cinder: *blushing* Shut up! I'm not catching ANY feelings for Jaune!

Neo: *texting Emerald* "Bullshit"

Emerald: *texting back* "You should see our boss; a true brocon if i ever seen one"

Jeanne: *responding in the group chat* You do realize i can read your message, right?

Neo: "But is she wrong?"

Jeanne: "My relationship with my twin is none of your business."

Emerald: "that's not a no Jeanne~"

Jaune: *shrug* As for my younger sisters; they aren't old enough to have any responsibility other than getting good notes in high school.

Nora: Isn't that your case as well?

Jaune: *waving off her concern* I was groomed for the position since i was a toddler; it's hardly the same for me as it is for them. *Sigh* Beside, even if i love complaining about my situation, at least i'm not my mom who had to figure out everything by herself while dealing with the faunus war on one hand and Mt Glenn independence on the other.

i wish each kingdom had a very clear style / identity to them that extends to both the cities and towns in them as well as the people living there. better yet if they were based on specific fairy tales or common concepts in them, but anything that makes it clear on first look where a character is originally from, or where they've spent significant amount of time to pick up a thing or two, would be golden.

granted there is some of that present, but for some reason it just doesn't feel enough. like something is missing there, that it's not taken to its full extent. like it feels very surface level, a nice paint on top, and that works fine for a while, but once you start digging deeper and deeper, there's not much to differentiate between the kingdoms; it's just more of the same.

take mantle / atlas, for example: the whole kingdom managed to prosper thanks to dust (advanced technology played a role, too, but you also need dust for that, so) but you don't really see that being part of the culture there. where are the huntsmen and huntresses pushing limits with what you can do with dust, using two different types of it in tandem, compared to vale, where they might be more likely to use only one type of dust in a simple manner (i.e. amber's staff), or mistral, where they're more likely to use dust weaved into clothing / armor or straight up fused into their weapons (i.e. dust blades).

then there's the atlas mechs being called paladins and knights; throw in dust there, and just like that atlas could very well be the kingdom themed after knights and mages; architecture that while still futuristic, also has this very stereotypical medieval town feel to it; hunters who are more likely to wear knight-like armor or mage-like clothing; the fashion in general being based on that, etc.

hell, i remember them saying that mistral airships / stuff in general(?) ran on steam dust, so make the whole kingdom steampunk! go the full distance, it's right there!!

“So, Fearless Leader.” Nora said to Jaune.

“Yeah, Nora?” He said, reading his book.

“What type of do girls do you like?”

“Type of girls?”

“Or men? I don’t judge. Just don’t be a bigot about it.”

“Oh, okay! So which type of girls do you like?”

“Well, I’m into older women.”

“Oh like Velvet and Coco.”

“Way older.”

That’s when Jaune closed his book, and turns to his energetic teammate/friend.

“Because older women tends to be more mature, more experienced, and can handle more than just simple tasks. I love women that can be by my side both physically and emotionally. I want women, not little girls like Weiss, and Ruby.”

“I feel like you just offended both of them.”

“My point stands, Nora.”

“…You can just admit that you’re into girls that can Ara ara you.”

“I told you that in confidence!”

Unbeknownst to them, they were being recorded.

“So Jaune loves that type of women, huh?” Glynda Goodwitch heard through her Scroll, and texted her group.

Cinder: Alright, now all we have to do is mingle a little so we don't stand out as a bunch of loners. Let's ming...?

Cinder: Of course I am. I'm a student of, Haven Academy, so of course I wear their school uniform.

To Those Who Wait

Dark clouds rolled across the evening sky over the Island, and it wasn’t but a moment later that Sonic let out a grumble at the gentle rainfall that misted his quills. Normally, rain wasn’t so cumbersome for him, but ever since getting zapped by that weird energy that had imprisoned Amy… 

Sonic let out a sigh and resumed his quick pace across the hills of the Island. He couldn’t stop; Amy was still mostly a ghost, and until she was safe, there wasn’t time to slow down. Whatever that hologram girl wanted, however those giant Titans fit into the picture, Amy–his friends needed him. They wouldn’t get anywhere if he just stood around, rain or no rain. Still… “Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy.” Sonic smiled to himself, his discomfort with the weather cheering slightly with the thought of his best gal. His cheeks tinted pink, his imagination conjuring the perfect picture: he and Amy, huddled together under an umbrella in a meadow of wildflowers, her warmth and softness pressed against him, his nose tickled with her sweet floral strawberry scent… Maybe, when all this was over… that could be? Maybe not with the rain, but just him and Amy, together at- 

His sneakers left skids in the muddy ground as the blue hedgehog hit his brakes, blinking against the rain at the sweet spot of pink in the distance. A grin split his muzzle.  There, closer than he’d thought, sitting among a vale of wildflowers, was the most beautiful Rose of them all despite the ghostly quality of her appearance. He shook his head and zoomed over, slowing down to a stroll just before he reached her. Her head was down, her eyes sad, her gentle fingers softly stroking a wildflower’s petals though she couldn’t touch them, and his heart clenched for her. 

“Hey, still thinking about the Koko?” Amy whirled around at Sonic’s approach, her green eyes momentarily wide with surprise, before she relaxed and faced forward again with a sigh and a nod. 

“Yeah, and more.” She confessed. “I’m not sure what happened, but I know what I saw: a love that transcended time. I believe in that power.” Out of her sight, Sonic’s lips twitched up in a fond smile, his emerald eyes soft as he gazed at her. “When this is over, I want to share that love with the world. Even though… it may take us far apart.” 

Amy fell silent, nibbling her bottom lip, her ears and eyes lowered. “I know you’ll do great.” Sonic fought to keep a supportive smile on his face as he knelt down next to her, to keep his tone light and encouraging. Because if he believed in anything… he believed in his Rose. “And I want to hear all about it when you come back.” When Amy met his eyes, with that radiant smile and shining eyes, he knew he said the right thing. His own smile was more genuine as he rose back to his feet. He zipped away before his facade could crack, before the truth could show. 

Sonic ran and ran, speeding across tumbling hills and ancient monuments, until a cliffside covered in flowers forced him to stop. He closed his eyes and tried to breathe through the ache in his chest that reverberated through his bones. For the first time, he was thankful for the rain, the splashing of the waves against the rocky cliffs that misted over his fur. 

“Amy…” Sonic whispered brokenly. “I should’ve made up my mind sooner…” 

It was poetic, wasn’t it? Just when he’d finally decided what he wanted, when he finally decided to stop running away and embrace what had been there all along… he, Sonic the Hedgehog, the Fastest Thing Alive, Hero of Mobius… he had been too slow. He’d missed his chance. For all the times he’d pushed Amy away, for all the times he’d rebuffed and refused her… now that he wanted her, she was leaving him behind. 

No. Sonic shook his head, a newfound determination in his emerald eyes. He wouldn’t do this to Amy. Not after all the years of patience, kindness, and acceptance she’d shown him. She’d waited for him, and now it was his turn. He would be supportive, he would be encouraging, he would be joyful for her on this path she’d chosen. He would be patient, kind, and accepting. And if her path realigned with his like Sonic hoped it would, well… it would be worth the wait for her.

Sunshine gleamed through the station’s stained glass windows, and Amy’s pink quills shone with a radiance that mirrored her beaming smile and glimmering green eyes. Sonic grinned back at her, just as the train’s whistle blew. The five minute warning before departure. “I suppose that’s my cue.” Amy laughed. 

Sonic snubbed his nose. “I can’t wait to hear about all the trouble you get into.” He teased. 

Amy giggled and tossed her arms around Sonic’s shoulders. “I’m gonna miss you!” Sonic closed his eyes and tightened his arms around her waist, taking a moment to memorize the soft warmth of her fur, the floral strawberry scent of her quills, before he decided on a little fun and swung her around, laughing when she shrieked and squealed. “Soniiiiic!” 

The train whistle blew again, two short blasts that signalled the one-minute boarding warning. “All aboard.” Amy grinned, picking up her suitcase. 

Sonic couldn’t help himself. He raised his hand and cupped her cheek, watching as her beautiful green eyes widened, feeling her pulse quicken under his glove as he leaned down and so very lightly brushed his lips on her other cheek. Pulling back, the beautiful coloring in her cheeks, the wonder in her eyes, gave him hope. 

The train whistle blew its final warning, and Sonic watched Amy startle, grab her suitcase, and dart onto the train just before the doors closed. Sonic ran alongside the platform, waving, as the train departed the station. Even when the crowds around him dispersed, Sonic remained, watching until she vanished behind the horizon. “You’re gonna do great, Ames, I know it. Show the world a love that transcends time, and when you’re ready, if you still want it, I’ll be right here waiting for you with one of my own.”

Jaune: *sitting on his bed, looking pensive*

Pyrrha: *brushing her hair* Is something wrong?

Jaune: Hm? *Shake his head* No no, it's just... You remember that girl in class?

Pyrrha: Which one?

Jaune: The one from Haven. The one who acts as if she is superior to everyone, but at the same time tries to hide it behind the fake smile.

Pyrrha: Oh, Cinder, right?

Jaune: *snapping his fingers* Yeah, that one. She kept looking at me all day.

Pyrrha: *roll her eyes* Another Princess wannabe. *Sigh* You'd think they get the message after you said no to the 20th.

Jaune: Pyrrha, you know better than anyone what fame does. *Chuckle* Your fan even thinks we are dating and they STILL send you love letters.

Pyrrha: *mumbling* If only that was true.

Jaune: What?

Pyrrha: *shake her head* Nothing. So, where were you going with this?

Jaune: Well, at first i thought it was sympathy or something, but it looks... I don't know. Weird? It's like she wants to talk to me and at the same time run away. I'm just wondering what's wrong, you know?

Pyrrha: *mumbling again* Goddamn hussy, i'll show you...

Jaune: Pyrrha? Are you ok? You seem a bit... Angry.

Pyrrha: *crossing her arms, frowning* I'm not. And yes, i know what you mean. Maybe she didn't have the best childhood? Mistral isn't known for being the best of place.

Ren: *who was reading a book* I wonder what would make you say that.

Nora: *playing on her scroll* Yeah, it's the safest place ever. Totally not a den of criminal.

Jaune: *chuckle* Sarcasm aside, maybe we should try befriending her?

Nora: *pausing the game* Are you sure she's... Uh... Kind of a bitch.

Ren: *looking up from his book* Worse than Weiss?

Nora: Touché.

Jaune: *shrug* Beside, it might give us more information on their team. Weakness and all that, you know?

Pyrrha: That... Sounds more callous than you used to be.

Jaune: *shaking his head* Sorry, old habits. My bumbling fool persona might not be far from the real me, but taking advantage of any situation IS important as a king. *Scratch the back of his head* My tutors drilled that teaching in my mind.

Meanwhile, in Cinder's team dorm

Cinder: *irritated* He's been looking at me for the last few periods. I think he is onto us.

Mercury: His mother died not even a week ago and everyone knows he is going to be the next king. *Shrug* I'd be paranoid too. He's probably the biggest target of every kidnapper in Vale.

Emerald: *sigh* As much as i hate to admit it, Mercury is right.

Cinder: *massaging her eyelids* I know that already, but it's not as if we are trying to kidnap him. *Sigh* Her Majesty asked us to look after him in secrecy, and i won't fail that mission.

Trivia: *texting* The queen did say he was a good judge of character. He probably already knows that we are trying to look after him. Or at least, that we aren't after him.

Emerald: And you were watching him a bit too intensely-

Cinder: Of course i was! The son of the woman who took me in when i was a slave is in front of me! I would give my life for him!

Mercury: *placing a hand on her shoulder* So would any of us. But you need to calm down, if you don't want our cover to blow up. Roman worked his ass off for them and i don't think they would work a second time.

Trivia: *texting* Maybe you should wear sunglasses? At least he wouldn't see that you are looking at him specifically.

Emerald: *shake her head* It's too late for that, we should try doing some damage control.

so what i'm getting here is that there's no confirmation that i've missed, which means that i can put adam in to the same group of "who knows where they're originally from but it's my city now :)" as emerald

question: was it ever confirmed in which kingdom the dust mine adam was a slave in was in? i always assumed it was atlas but now that i'm trying to look for a confirmation, i can't find any mention of it, just that it was an sdc dust mine, and we know the sdc has / has had mines in at least atlas and vacuo.

( for reference i didn't go any deeper than his wiki page and amity arena card descriptions, so there's a high chance i did miss something. )

I know people have picked up on the board game scene in RWBY V2 Episode 2 (Welcome to Beacon) as foreshadowing the events of the show, but for funsies I want to take a stab at how it foreshadows the general arcs of each four kingdoms myself.

So we have Blake playing as the Kingdom of Vale, and she's completely unaware of the events of the game unfolding and not really paying attention, clearly distracted.

"Alright Blake, it's your turn!"

"Huh? Sorry, what am I doing?"

"You're playing as Vale, trying to conquer the four kingdoms of Remnant!"

"...Right."

The Vale arc is the first three volumes of RWBY, where all our protagonists are at Beacon, but during that time, much like Blake during the game, they're unaware of the larger conflict with Salem, and aren't actively participating in the war at that point. They are ignorant and reactive instead of active. However it's ironic that Blake plays as Vale, since the reason she's not paying attention to the game and seems distracted is because, out of all the main characters in the Vale arc, she is the one most concerned about being kept in the dark and that they're ignorant as to what's really going on.

Blake: I just, I don't understand how everyone can be so calm.

Ruby: (approaching Blake) You're still thinking about Torchwick?

Blake: Torchwick, the White Fang, all of it! Something big is happening and no one is doing anything about it!

She also leaves the game during her turn, much like how she runs away after the FoB and the end of the Vale arc.

"Right. Well, I think I'm done playing, actually"

Yang is playing as Mistral, and she's the most savvy and knowledgeable (hah) player, winning many rounds of the game, teaching Weiss how to play, and has the other players falling into her trap cards.

"Heh, pretty sneaky sis, but you just activated my trap card!"

There's two ways this can be interpreted, with how the Mistral arc (volumes 4-6) is when our protagonists start to gather more knowledge and awarenesses of themselves and the world. It's also in Mistral that our heroes have their most decisive victory so far. It's fitting to have Yang playing as Mistral then, since during the Mistral arc she's the one who who learns from Tai to fight smarter, and to question the authority figures around her from Raven, and after confronting her in the vault is the one who retrives the relic of knowledge.

But, most of the losses our heroes experience are because of Cinder, who is from Mistral, and them falling into her own "trap cards" with the Fall of Beacon being orchestrated by her, killing Pyrrha and Ozpin. And in Atlas the same, with her manipulating Ironwood, undermining the heroes plans to evacuate everyone from Atlas, and killing Penny. She often finds ways to trick and exploit others, and is most dangerous when overlooked and underestimated, like falling into a trap.

Which brings me to Ruby playing as Atlas, where Ruby and Yang have this exchange after Yang's trap card is activated by Ruby:

"Giant Nevermore! If I roll a seven or higher, fatal feathers will slice your fleet in two!

"But! If you roll lower a six or lower, the Nevermore will turn on your own forces!"

"That's just a chance I'm willing to take"

In the Atlas arc (volumes 7-9) the theme of trust and taking risks is very prevalent. Like the move Yang makes in the game it is a risky one, that could end badly for her, but it is one worth taking nonetheless. They take the risk of trusting Ironwood but he ends up turning on our heroes. Oscar takes a risk trusting Hazel and Ozpin, as well as Emerald later on being accepted into their group, and it ends up working out for them. Ruby takes a risky chance in sending a message out to all of Remnant and evacuating Atlas, which saves a lot of people, but they still lose some, including Penny, a dear friend of Ruby's.

"Noooooo! My fearless soldiers!"

"Eh, most of them were probably androids anyways"

"Goodbye my friends... you will be avenged!"

Ruby acts distraught when losing her turn in the game as Atlas, expressing anguish over losing her friends who are described as androids by Yang, just like how Ruby is incredibly depressed and broken after the Fall of Atlas in V9, mourning the loss of Penny, who was both a sentient android and Ruby's friend. (I do wonder if Ruby's comment on avenging her friends might be foreshadowing for her wanting to avenge Penny's death in the future, like how Jaune tried to 1v1 Cinder in V5 to avenge Pyrrha, but I think it's too soon to say)

As a sidenote the fact it is a Nevemore in this turn that has a chance of turning on Yang or helping her is interesting, as it puts me in mind of two characters who can turn into ravens/crows, like the bird and poem Nevermore is associated with. It could pertain to Raven, someone who turns on Yang in v5 during the battle of Haven, but appears to help her and her friends in the V9 epilogue. It could also be about Qrow and his semblance, since during the Atlas arc it begins to evolve so that it is not simply a bad luck semblance, but one that can generate good luck too. In other words he can affect whether the chances are in people's favour or not.

After defeating Ruby (Atlas) Yang says this:

Yang: Not until I draw my rewards! Which are double this round thanks to the Mistral Trade Route!

Ruby: Bah!

Yang: Oh, and what's this? The Smugglers of Wind Path?

Ruby: Bah! Bah, I say!

Yang: I say, it looks like I'm taking two cards in my hand!

After the Fall of Atlas Cinder retrives not one but two relics for Salem, and with Atlas falling into Mantle, two kingdoms are destroyed in one fell swoop.

Then it's Weiss's turn. Weiss is playing as Vacuo, but has no idea how to play the game. Yang takes it upon herself to teach Weiss how to play and what she can do to win the game:

Yang: Well, Weiss, it's your turn.

Weiss: I have... absolutely no idea what's going on.

Yang: (Yang slides up beside her and puts her hand on her shoulder.) Look, it's easy! You're playing as Vacuo which means that all Vacuo-based cards come with a bonus.

Weiss: That sounds dumb.

Yang: See, you've got Sandstorm, Desert Scavenge... Oh, oh! (She pulls up a card to show Weiss.) Resourceful Raider! See, now you can take Ruby's discarded Air Fleet—

Ruby: (crying) Nooo!

Yang: —and put it in your hand!

We know from the end of V9 that what remains of the airfleet of Atlas, as well as the airfleet of Mistral and Vale, have all flocked to Vacuo's defence. What remains of the kingdom of Atlas, the airfleet, but most importantly the people, have now fled to Vacuo and are trying to make a home there.

Yang continues to give Weiss advice on how to win the game to Weiss, building her up, until Weiss starts to get arrogant, believing she's going to win the whole game and is the one in control:

Yang: And since Vacuo warriors have an endurance against Natural-based hazards, you can use Sandstorm to disable my ground forces and simultaneously infiltrate my kingdom! (Yang points a finger at Weiss.) Just know that I will not forget this declaration of war.

Weiss: And that means...

Ruby: You're just three moves away from conquering Remnant!

But then Yang turns on Weiss, activating her trap card, and Vacuo loses.

Since this is may be foreshadowing for the Vacuo arc that we haven't seen yet, I can only speculate what this might mean.

...But judging from the V9 extended epilogue and the books, my best guess would be that if Yang/Mistral is meant to be in part Cinder/Salem and their forces, then Weiss as Vacuo is in part the Crown. In the extended epilogue Jax and Gillian appear to be recieving help from Tyrian and Mercury, meaning Salem has decided to recruit them to her cause.

The Crown wants to restore the Vacuoan monarchy and detest outsiders, especially Atlesians. They do however wish to protect Vacuo from the same forces that destroyed Beacon, aka Salem, and so they are likely going to be manipulated like Weiss is by Yang in the game, being offered aid and giving them advice on how they can win and achieve their objectives, making them believe they can "conquer Remnant", only for them to realise later they were being tricked and used.

"Once again, Vacuo had been isolated from the conflict raging throughout Remnant—only this time it was an opportunity. With the global CCT network disabled, Vale in ruin, Haven leaderless, and Atlas closed off, Vacuo was theirs for the taking. This was likely their last, best chance for a generation. And it was their only hope to defend Vacuo against whomever had been targeting the other kingdoms. In likelihood they had written off Vacuo, like everyone else did, but if they tried to move against the Crown, they would have an unpleasant surprise.

Vacuo wouldn't break this time around."

Weiss: (Weiss stands and a thunder clap accompanies Weiss' overjoyed psychotic laughter.) Y-yes! Fear the almighty power of my forces! Cower as they pillage your homes and weep as they take your children from your very arms!

Yang: Trap card... (Yang's arm appears holding the card.)

Weiss: Huh?

Yang: (Yang shuffles the pieces on the board, Weiss' pieces disappearing in a puff of smoke.) Your armies have been destroyed.

Weiss: (Weiss slumps in her chair, cries and whines.) I hate this game of emotions we play!

Weiss as Vacuo may lose to Yang after realising they've been tricked, but is offered comfort afterwards by Ruby who relates to her losses and empathises with her, which is interesting since Ruby plays as Atlas. So I'm predicting at the end of the Vacuo arc they'll experience somewhat of a loss, whether that's the Crown, our heroes, or likely both, but Atlas will give support to Vacuo and the two kingdoms will come together to heal and ultimately work together, making steps to overcome their tense history with one another.

"Stay strong Weiss we'll make it through this together!"

"Shut up, don't touch me! "

...Which does make Weiss specifically playing as Vacuo especially intriguing, as she is the SDC heiress from Atlas, and Vacuo is a kingdom that has suffered the most in being exploited and colonized for it's natural resources by Atlas. From the epilogue it seems like the Schnees are being confronted directly with all the harm that has been caused by their family and kingdom, so I wouldn't be surprised if Weiss recieves a certain amount of focus during the Vacuo arc in deciding what her legacy as an Atlesian and heiress to the Schnee name will be. Moving forward to make amends, maybe inspiring the citizens of Atlas/Mantle to come together with Vacuo so they can all help and support one another, instead of isolating themselves and suffering alone.

Jaune offers to plays Weiss's hand for a turn also, with Weiss refusing:

Jaune: (Begging with both hands folded together.) Come on, let me play your hand for a turn!

Weiss: I'm not trusting you with the good citizens of Vacuo!

Which is reminiscent of how Vacuo is mistrustful of outsiders, as we've seen in After the Fall and Before the Dawn books.

Yang follows up to say that Weiss attacked her own forces, which could reference the infighting in Vacuo, especially with the Crown.

Weiss: Besides, this game requires a certain level of tactical cunning that I seriously doubt that you possess.

Yang: Uhh, you attacked your own naval fleet two turns ago. (Weiss makes an annoyed sound.)

Overall Weiss as Vacuo recieves the most help as any player during their turn, being taught how to play by Yang, offered comfort by Ruby after losing, and Jaune wanting to help her by playing her hand for a turn. This seems to fit with both how all kingdoms have flocked to Vacuo's aid in response to Ruby's message, but also Weiss as a character, who starts out "the loneliest of them all" but gradually opens up and warms up to other people. The crux of her arc being looking outside herself and at the people around her, relating to their struggles and coming to support them and being supported by them leads to her better understanding herself and becoming stronger for it... Which is kind of what the Kingdom of Vacuo needs to learn too!

Following this is Blake's turn as Vale, which I covered at the start of this post, but that's not the end of Vale's turn. We don't actually see it, but we know the aftermath of the game is this:

Yang: Ugh, we should have never let him play!

Ruby: You're just mad cuz' the new guy beat you!

Blake leaves the game during her turn as Vale, and presumably the "new guy" which is likely Neptune, who they'd just been introduced too, takes over her hand as Vale and wins the game of Remnant overall, even beating Yang and her trap cards. This is likely the endgame of RWBY itself, our heroes return to Vale after the Vacuo arc during the last volume for the final stand, where they win.

How and what that victory will look like I don't know, as we don't see the last turn of the game, so yet again this is even more vaguer speculation. Neptune doesn't really have much plot significance so I can't think there's any meaning to that except that he's a minor foil to Jaune, and the line of it being "a new guy" that wins, so maybe someone who recently joins our heroes side in the final act of the story, possibly Mercury or Cinder.

Emerald: yeah he’s just some weakling who somehow got lucky enough to be the leader of the invincible girls team

Salem: hmmm so he did it and a leader

Cinder: my queen?

Salem: change of plans cinder you must drop all of your plans and bring me this boy

Cinder: but my-

Salem: DO NOT QUESTION ME

Cinder: yes my queen

Hangs up

Mercury: oh boy all those months of planning just to kidnap a blond dork

Emerald: hey it’ll be easy and then we can get back on track

Cinder happy at this thought: indeed now we must take him to vale to meet our queen

One simply done kidnapping later

Jaune: where am I why is everything dark

A Bag is removed from his head

Jaune: who there…

Salem: jaune my dear

Jaune: sally

Salem: oh you do remember me

Jaune: where have you been sally moms been pissed you were supposed to-

Salem: yes yes I’m well aware of junipers wrath but I’m here now to make good on our promise

Jaune: but I-i got school I’m a huntsman now

Salem: I know and I’m so proud you fallowed your dreams but it doesn’t mean we can’t marry

Jaune: I guess so but why did you kidnap me

Salem: let’s just say me and ozpin don’t get along

Jaune: ah yes immortal body swapping wizard

Salem: oh my dear boy I knew there was a reason I agreed to your mothers deal

Jaune: but now wha-

Crash

Pyrrha: who took my baby daddy

Salem: jaune you have impregnated an other woman

Jaune: what no… I never did it with Pyrrha

Salem: why, why did you pause

Jaune: you remember saphron right

Salem: oh yes her and terra had… a… baby. Oh my brothers you fathered your own nephew

Salem: welp time to make up for lost time and chances. Cinder leave us

Emerald forces Mercury out and locks the door as suddenly a magical barrier formed in front of said door. Then she too undresses

Pyrrha: I’m in

Later

Salem: oh my I haven’t felt this good in centuries

Cinder completely lost in ecstasy same as emerald who face is still buried in her mistress’s crotch

Pyrrha is cuddling up to jaune with a content smile on her face

Jaune: I-i can’t feel my legs

Boom

Jaune and Salem shoot up

Yang: jaune me and Blake came to save you

Blake: who the fuck took my man

Salem: sooo this is what your mother meant about the arc charm

Many more days of sex and people barging in later

Ozpin: … I-i can’t even

Jaune: hey if it’s any consolation I’m not too sure how this happened either

Salem: look at it this why you pathetic excuse of a man, the war is over and you’ll have and army of arcs to protect humanity

Yang: sill confused about this but what can I say I got a good man and *rubs her tummy* a way to show I’m not my… birth giver

Ozpin: as much as I am happy that this is the outcome and a little disappointed that you didn’t give me more silver eyed warriors

Yang: you leave my darling little sister alone

Ozpin: yes yes I know, but your appearance Salem it looks

Salem: oh yes, you see my husbands semblance healed my tainted soul as well as fucked to evil out of me

Picking out games for them all was kinda difficult, bc I have so many favorites and I wasn't sure what they'd react to or how they'd react. But I'm pretty happy with these

I mean,, it’s a game that takes place entirely in another solar system where you crash land in an escape pod on a strange planet and gotta figure out how people here work without letting them know you’re “not from here”

They literally call the player “The Stranger”

I think he’d love looking up at the sky in game

Every one of the sky boxes is gorgeous but Emerald Vale especially

I think he’d find a safe area in game and put it on just to stare up at the sky (and fall asleep too)

Tries to choose the best outcome for every situation

Which means fucking over the government and not feeling an ounce of guilt for it

But fucking over the underdogs even for a minute feels awful

Has to ask you which choice is better or how to get the best outcome

Scarily good at fighting with melee weapons

Esp considering the heavy reliance on guns

Accidentally min-maxes the characters

He’d also love Coffee Talk

The music is so calming he usually ends up falling asleep to it

Spends a lot of time and consideration into every drink

Draws a little bunny in the lattes every single time

Probably accidentally clocks the plot twist of the game on the very first run

Tries making you the drinks irl and uhhhh he shouldn’t

Of the games I’ve played, I think The Silent Age would be very interesting for him

Helps solve the puzzles (even if you’ve played it before)

Says he finds the art style to be “charming”

Sits through every piece of dialogue no matter how long and doesn’t go forward until he comprehends it

Gets so concerned when Joe starts coughing

Generally doesn’t like seeing the bodies

It makes him unsettled and has him thinking about those he’s lost to such gruesome deaths

The twist at the end absolutely fascinates him so much

And the SECOND twist pulls him out of it

Was lowkey hoping it would be something more… fantastical

But does have to admit that horror in the now-mundane is interesting too

I also would LOVE to watch him play Ace Attorney

He finds the concept absolutely fascinating

Doesn’t play, but enjoys watching you play

Loves to see you so panicked and freaked out

Laughs if something small makes you jump out of your skin

But he does try to comfort you after chase sequences when it feels like you’re having a heart attack

Pulls you into his lap and promises to protect you

Will not complain if you choose to stay there for the rest of the game

Helps you solve puzzles if you’re struggling with them for too long

But he always asks to know if you want the answer

He doesn’t need you pouting and upset just because you couldn’t figure out how to do something relatively simple

Warns the twins not to scare you for a while

For their own safety tbh

You have a gun and you WILL use it

He’d also like watching you play Animal Crossing

You can and will bully him into joining

Will catch the scary or difficult bugs for you if you’re struggling

Doesn’t need to look up any guides to find the real artworks

The very second he can get his hands on the cat cap, it’s going to you

Might ask what color you want, but he’s more likely to pick it for you so its a surprise

He would love it tho

Sitting on the couch together, watching over your shoulder as you follow the tutorials to draw the Pokemon

They turn out like shit but he claims to love them

Passing it over to him is a bad idea, but he won’t stop whining until you do

Creates an entire masterpiece

That creature is in a damn candid shot, shaded and everything

You should have known it was a terrible idea to show him the game

When he doesn’t feel like painting or just needs a break for his mind, he’ll play it

Honestly I see him at one of his own exhibitions, standing in the corner and playing it

Thomas complains to you about it all the time

Rafayel texts you about how much the Pokemon miss you and want you to come over :’(((

Beats the game

Somehow

Not just the lessons either, literally every single drawing they give you to do, he does it

When you look at the gallery, you can see when you stopped playing and when he took over

He’d also love Little Inferno

Sings the jingle all the time until you’re threatening him to shut up

Doesn’t honestly understand the appeal at first

He can literally make and control fire, why can’t you just give him some stuff to burn and he’ll do it for you

But he slowly gets the appeal

Especially when the batteries explode

Hates the pooping cat plushie with a passion

“If that thing ever shows up in a claw machine, we are NOT getting it.”

He either fully completes the game, combos and all, or he gets to the second catalog and gets bored, no in between

Will happily watch you play tho

Loves the way you focus on trying to decipher the clues for the combos

No shame, WILL be looking up the combinations and WILL spoil them for you just to bug you

May plan a date around throwing shit into a fireplace and watching it burn in real life

There’s a fire extinguisher nearby, just in case
