The Acolyte
I first heard about this series because of the main people involved before they even gave it a title, just the time period, probably had no idea for a plot but the time period was interesting and of course it seemed like forever ago that they showed footage at D23 and Dafne Keen came on stage. It sounded cool, different colored lightsabers and a dark-side sensibility. I didn't watch any trailers but it was definitely different enough to peak my interest from how samey a lot of the other Disney Star Wars stuff has felt.
So, it's not really what I expected or wanted.
That first episode skips an opening crawl and just opts for the text on screen, a little less romantic and got me off on the wrong foot. But it talks of an assassin which sounds promising, darker, then we see her and they kind of flub it because there's no real mystery or air about her, we dive into her and her past pretty much the first episode, not menacing enough for me, they make it about twins which is a little less graceful. Especially since I heard Carrie Ann Moss was going to be in it, yeah, well they kill her in the first (10?) minutes so it really put a damper on it, why even cast her? She'll be in flashbacks but come on! Money!
Besides that, the money is actually double that of Obi-Wan and it shows, the CGI is much better and you can tell there's some care put into it. However, I still complain that lightsabers still look like light bars like the other shows and the way its shot left me desiring more, there were points where I thought "Oh, something cool." like the camera spinning then she wakes up but that was about it. It's still a tv show so it falls into the same trappings because I found myself noting where I would place cuts because of how unnecessary and pace-breaking it could seem at times because of the extended runtime to fit episode formats. You saw me complain about Andor, and this isn't quite as bad so we see more of the characters but the order of events is a bit janky, we could get a lot more relevant scenes than just talking and more near the scene it becomes relevant rather than at the beginning of the episode and waiting for it to catch up.
But no, it doesn't cut from person to person, the twins ARE the mains and yeah, like I said, it's not graceful. There's no environmental storytelling, it's just "do you ever wonder what's out there?" then see Jedi threatening to take you and you say yes, she had no reason to say much of anything, she didn't even want to step out. Now she knows how to hotwire a chimney- wait, why? You can't just open it? This wasn't established to be broken or anything. I get that she's mechanically inclined later in life but peetz, throw me a bone as to a reason or something. Same with her separation theory, ok, she wants to be different but I also wonder how this is all she knows and yet, it doesn't give us any sort of extra push as to why she doesn't want this life. And they make the two out to be these secret sacred twins that have all this power already (but deep inside). Remember that force conception from the AU comic? Well...
Let's divy it up because Leslye Headland is a controversial person that I won't talk about her reputation because it's too easy but she brought in so many people that didn't seem to know a lick of Star Wars, which how she got the job, I guess she was a personal friend and really I think you can make a good story out of very little but with Star Wars specifically, fans are going to chew you up and spit you out for it because you probably don't deserve it. But you can see from the credits that it doesn't start with the Based on George Lucas, it has Leslye, then Leslye then Leslye, then George then Leslye. Ok, now I know who to blame.
But from interviews of cast members, they know about just as much so it leads me to believe some are also personal friends or just actors they liked.
I saw a lot of people defending the series, saying that if you liked the novels they've been putting out, you'd appreciate it a lot more and that may be but from the other side, they also have an argument because it's just not good. And the side defended it often likes to say "it's a lie, don't believe what they say. Even the cast interviews" but like- that's the cast and I'm watching it and I'm seeing things that people have rumored so I don't know what you're mysteriously alluding to. This show is even labeled as a mystery, never did I feel that way.
So yeah. I dropped it, even beside the stupid plot points which you can argue as to how much it retcons or not- The way it's structured isn't appealing, I was never excited, never felt like coming back for the next episode, we're only on episode 3 but we're also on episode 3. You could argue that it might not matter if it was a 21 episode season but it's 8 or something. But even so, if nothing good happened for 3 episodes let alone the first three then its not going to change your mind, it can't be redeemed. I dont think anyone's opinion will be changed, there's no punch waiting at the end, just like so many of the other series. Dafne Keen shows up? Maybe I'll skim her parts but I'm just not interested anymore.

As Doctor Who approaches...
As Doctor Who approaches I don't feel the excitement I once did. I haven't felt properly excited since 2022. I feel hollow for it.
I think that all the fandom disputes have just broken my enjoyment of the show that I would have classed as my favourite show for a lot of my life.
I went into a state of not really enjoying it in the same way 2010-2011... then in 2012 I decided that I should enjoy each series and went in with optimism. But that dried up 10 years later.
Maybe I should blame Chris Chibnall for this, his controversial writing of the show has led to intense fandom disputes and helped the vileness to really hatch out, to the point that the fandom seems in such a state that it can't recover for the forseeable future. That would certainly be a popular option, scapegoat Chibnall for everything, say that the fandom wasn't really so bad before that villain ruined everything. I know that certain people, even those that you would expect better from, blame him for the lack of Christmas specials and even claim that he didn't care about the future of the show and decided not to pick a new showrunner out of... not caring.
I will not go for such an easy, blame it all on one person option. The tensions may have been exacerbated, but they were present already. It has just got worse. There is a lot to say about this, but the focus of this post is on my own thoughts.
I don't feel joy for it. I should, but I don't. Despite all that excitement I should have, despite the trailers, despite Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, despite things like Maestro... I just don't get the feeling of excitement. I don't even like bringing it up in personal conversation with people. If it's online you can leave it easier. It now feels that every discussion turns into, we hated the last era. The Guardian articles sneer at it. The articles in other papers say how it has been saved. It can feel Manichean at times, the evil Chibnall personally deciding to destroy it, RTD saving it again, getting the Disney deal, better funding, all that.
But even the anti-RTD stuff cuts me. Some of it just looks petty and nitpicking. Even if sometimes it is mocking the way that people nitpick everything Chibnall does.
I feel that every review, every comment, will feel the need to push the barb in somewhere.
You look at now how even pieces saying how much they love the Moffat era turn it into a sneering comment at Chibnall. As if they feel the need to bite. Even pieces on Broadchurch have to sink their teeth in, as if the people who experience them want to taste blood and lick it up.
Not that RTD and Moffat would want this hate, but what they want needn't matter. RTD would probably hate the mentality expressed by Darren Mooney that him coming back is the obituary of the Chibnall era and shows that the whole thing was a failure.
Maybe it would be easier if I just hated Chibnall, if I saw his era as an aberration that can be thrown out. If I could watch the sneering videos, with tabloidy titles snarling that 42 warned us, as now everything he has written has to be seen in the worse light. Now criticising it for longer than a Wagner opera gets you lauded as an intellectual, even if you just pad it out.
That era is gone, but perhaps the damage of it pervades. Or maybe the move to the alt-right over this period has sunk in so deep and linked to much to the criticism of the show that things that were shrugged at in RTD1 are snarled at in RTD2.
I know that I am in the minority here. I know that the line encouraged by the fandom and it's prominent members if the last era was utterly shit and should be ignored. Now all is as it should be. David Tennant coming back proves how shit it is. Maybe they are right. I don't want to admit it, but they do wear you down after a while.
This is a rambling post that is sounding at times like I'm writing violent verse. But I felt that I needed to get these mingling and miserable thoughts out.
I will still watch it. But I won't feel the same excitement for Doctor Who that I did a few years ago and I won't be discussing it in person with the same joy.
Tumblr media
I even didn't think that the 60th specials were so bad, there was some enjoyable stuff there. But it didn't feel the same and I moved on from discussing it in person fairly quickly, wanting to change the conversation topic soon enough.
Well, maybe I will get perked up eventually. But I doubt that it will happen this year.

Opinion: DC and Marvel’s Multiverses Are Crucial To The Future of Superhero Film
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, buckle up kids, this is going to be a long one. Get some soda and some popcorn, or some green tea and avocado toast.
Back in the long-distant year of 1989, a little film called Batman released into theaters and became the film of the Summer. Directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson as Batman and the Joker respectively, it was a cinematic triumph that heralded a new wave of superhero films taking their source material seriously. Followed up in 1992 by Batman Returns, a sequel which increased the fantastic elements but was criticized for its darker tones, Batman’s role in movies was cemented in place by continued success. Of course, Keaton and Burton would leave to be replaced by Val Kilmer as Batman with Joel Schumacher directing for 1995′s Batman Forever, with George Clooney stepping into the cape and cowl for 1997′s Batman and Robin, a wild disaster of a film which nearly destroyed Batman’s chances in movies. But then, in 2005, Christopher Nolan brought a gritty realism to the caped crusader in Batman Begins, and continued this successful experiment with 2008′s Best Film Of The Year, The Dark Knight, and 2012′s The Dark Knight Rises (which was....fine). By this time the DCEU was beginning to get started, so a new Batman was cast for Zack Synder’s 2016 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and this role went to Ben Affleck. He reprised the role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Joss Whedon’s Justice League, but bowed out of the opportunity to write and direct his own solo Bat-flick. So director Matt Reeves was tapped to direct a new Batman film starring a controversial choice of Robert Pattinson as Batman. With all of this, the question of the past 30-odd years is: which is your favorite Batman? Which one was the best? And how do these films fit into an increasingly convoluted canon in which a film series is rebooted every ten years or so?
What if the answer is: they’re all great and they all fit into canon?
Now, before we think too hard about that, let’s take a look at Spider-Man’s cinematic installments, which is almost more convoluted and in a more compressed amount of time. Beginning with 2002′s Spider-Man directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, the amazing wall-crawler enjoyed a fantastic amount of success on the big screen, followed up by one of the best superhero films of all time, 2004′s Spider-Man 2. But Spider-Man 3 in 2007 took all of that goodwill and smashed it into the ground with a failure almost as bad as Batman and Robin a decade earlier. Plans for a Spider-Man 4 were scrapped, and eventually in 2012 director Mark Webb and star Andrew Garfield would bring a brand new Spidey to life with The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. Both films were lively and energetic, but criticized for trying to stuff too much into their films -- especially the second one. Sony Pictures was attempting to ramp up a cinematic universe much like Marvel Films was doing at the time, but it was too much too fast. 2017 brought another reboot of the moviefilm version of Spidey, this time directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, with Spider-Man: Homecoming, this time under Marvel Film’s banner (thanks to backdoor dealing), and another cinematic triumph in 2019′s Spider-Man: Far From Home. But, unlike Batman, Spider-Man’s dealings behind the scenes are nearly as convoluted as his series. Sony Pictures owned the rights to make Spider-Man flicks for years, until Marvel managed to make a ludicrous offer after Amazing 2 failed to catch on the way producers hoped. So Spidey came to the MCU under a joint production, which is how we got Homecoming and Far From Home, but also maintained a different universe with the Amazing films, and then 2018′s Venom, and a little animated motion picture also in 2018 by the name of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
Class, this is where I would like to direct your attention to the origin of the extraordinary events we are discussing today. Or is it the origin?
Into The Spider-Verse successfully proved that not only is the idea of multiple universes all connecting on screen a good idea, it’s an Oscar winning idea. Spider-Verse is hands down the best animated superhero film ever, and one of the best superhero films period. But here we must take note of certain ideas. The film provided much setup for a world where young Miles Morales begins to emerge with spider powers, but then Spider-Man is killed right in front of him before he can learn how to use them. Enter a Spider-Man from a slightly different parallel dimension, who not only turns Miles around, but find himself inspired to realign his own life. Spider-people abound through the film, all of them having equal weight and the possibility of spawning their own franchise without having to worry about impacting the canon of other universes. This is something comic books have done for literal decades, but Spider-Verse did it with such care and devotion that it won Best Animated Picture and became a mainstream smash hit. Marvel and Sony both sit up at attention; could this work with the major mainstream films they’ve been producing? So the experiment begins: we have a teaser trailer for Morbius, based on a vampiric Spider-Man villain, which features a cameo from the Vulture character first seen in Homecoming. And after dropping hints that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could cross over with Tom Hardy’s Venom, Jamie Foxx recently posted about being cast as Electro -- a role he played in Amazing Spider-Man 2 -- for the third Tom Holland Spidey flick. Pictures went up on his Instragram seeming to confirm that not only was this the same Electro, but that all three previous Spider-Men -- Maguire, Garfield, and Holland -- would team up for the film. Multiple universes collide, a live action Spider-Verse, where everyone is crossing over with each other. Now, this lines up perfectly with Marvel’s MCU plans, as Doctor Strange has established in his film that multiple universes exist, and his announced sequel is even titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It’s here. It’s happening. Every Spider-Man film is canon, they’ve all happened, and we don’t need to worry about which of them make sense or belong. They all make sense.
But just before this announcement, a month or so ago DC let slip that their plans for an upcoming Flash movie are taking cues from the Flashpoint comic books, in which Barry Allen goes back in time and accidentally creates a brand new timeline that he has to correct. Michael Keaton has even been cast as Bruce Wayne, the same Bruce Wayne that he played 30-odd years ago, a casting choice many fans have been clamoring for for years. On top of that, once word was put out that Keaton’s role would be similar to Samuel L. Jackson’s role as Nick Fury in the MCU, Ben Affleck was reported to be joining the picture as Batman also, a team-up no one saw coming. Even Christian Bale is being courted to join the universe-spanning flick, but reportedly only if director Christopher Nolan gives his blessing. Multiple Batmen teaming up together in a Flash movie to combat crime? Of course I’ve already bought tickets. Batman is the biggest box-office draw outside of The Avengers. And this concept opens up plenty of opportunities for DC, who’ve done Elseworlds stories in the comic for years. Joker with Joaquin Phoenix proved that DC films not directly tied to the DCEU can and will do well on their own; The Batman with Pattinson will no doubt further confirm that. But now Batman Returns is once again a viable film mixed into a comic book cocktail of wonder and excitement? And what’s wonderful is that this isn’t DC’s first big attempt at this. Slowly and surely, The CW’s Arrowverse TV shows -- Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow -- have been doing multiverse crossovers for years, building up to 2019′s mega-event Crisis on Infinite Earths, which saw Brandon Routh reprise his role as Superman from 2006′s Superman Returns, which itself is a sequel to Christopher Reeve’s Superman and Superman II. And for one wonderful scene, TV’s Flash, Grant Gustin, got to interact with the DCEU’s Flash, Ezra Miller, confirming that these TV and film universes are indeed one big cocktail of parallel lives and dimensions that all interconnect while still being separate. Hell, we even saw Burt Ward, Robin from the 1966 Batman show, alive and well an in his own little world. Batman ‘66 is part of the wider DC Multiverse! How crazy is that? And we even got a small tease that Batman ‘89 is part of all of this as well, when we got to see reporter Alexander Knox look up to the Batsignal in the sky as Danny Elfman’s iconic score played. In one fell swoop, in as few as a casual couple of cameos, DC made all of their live-action properties canon in the multiverse, meaning no matter which version you like the best, they all work together and work from a franchising and audience standpoint. The 1978 Superman and the 1989 Batman both existed in worlds that ran sidecar to 2019′s Joker and 2011′s Green Lantern. It’s wild, unprecedented in cinematic history, and wonderful for fans of all ages.
Why is this the future of superhero flicks, though? It ought to be simple: no matter what movies come out, no matter how wild or crazy or outside canon” they seem to be, they all can work and they all can coexist without having to confuse fans. Many people were feeling the reboot fatigue as early as 2012′s Amazing Spider-Man, and while there was a huge tone shift between Batman Returns and Batman Forever, the Bat-films were considered all part of the same line until Batman Begins started all the way over. Now we have Batman 89 and Returns in one world, Forever and Batman and Robin in another (which was already a fan theory, mind you). Sequels that don’t line up with their predecessors can just be shunted into a hidden multiverse timeline and left alone without the convoluted explanation of having to “ignore” certain sequels. Superman III & IV were ignored when Superman Returns chose to connect only to the first and second films, but now we can say that they definitely happened....just somewhere else. There is now a freedom of ideas and creation that can once again occur when making big-budget films based on superheroes. No longer do creative minds need to be restrained to the canon and timeline and overarching plots defined by studios years in advance; “creative differences” don’t need to drive frustrated directors away from characters or stories they truly love. Possibly -- just possibly -- good ideas can become the gold standard once again for comic book films, not just ten-year plans for how to get Captain America from scrawny Marine to Mjolnir-wielding badass. Remember when filmmakers decided to make Joker the same person who killed Bruce Wayne’s parents? Or when they decided to give Spider-Man the ability to shoot webs from his body instead of technology? That certainly wouldn’t fly these days; studio mandates would require adherence to previously established guidelines, or at least what has been seen in the comic. What if now we could get a three-episode limited series on HBO Max of Gotham By Gaslight? Or a big-budget adaptation of Marvel’s 1602? Simply trying to wedge old comic book storylines into existing Cinematic Universes no longer need be a thing! We could get some of the wildest interpretations of superheroes this side of Superman: Red Son. At least, that’s the hope, anyway.
When comic books can step away from canon for just a few minutes, worlds open up and expand. An entire multiverse of ideas can become a feast of entertainment for many. And when there’s already so many beautiful, well-told stories set in alternate universes as comic book precedent, so too can there be beautiful, well-told stories set in alternate universes for film. And the best part? Now they all matter. And I think that’s the future.

Healin’ Good Precure Episode 01
Tumblr media
I'm feeling really good about this.
The time has finally come, Healin' Good Precure is among us and I couldn't be more happy about it! I watched this episode twice and my liking for this season just kept growing and growing, I know it's very early to say this (there are at least more 46 episodes for me to change my mind) but I really am in love with this season already.
I believe this is my first time covering a first episode on its own and I don't really know how to do this so if it seems like I keep going back and it seems that I'm just running in circles please bear with me. XD
Tumblr media
I think to begin with I'll take the obvious things out of the way and first talk about the OP, the ED, the transformation, and the attack before going into my opinions of the episode itself.
This is gonna sound repetitive but I LOVE THE OPENING AND THE ENDING. More so the ending than the opening, but I love them both, they are very strong on the visual side.
What I like about the OP is that it's a pretty soothing yet energetic song that fits perfectly with the Healin' Good atmosphere, I also love the visuals they look very beautiful, very fun, I got a very light-hearted vibe from the shots of the girls in their civilian lives, and it made me feel like I already know these character for a long time and I really care about them. I'm gonna be a little controversial here and say that the part people liked the most of the OP is actually my least favorite... I know it's a beautiful work of animation and it does look amazing but I wish it was more concentrated on the action scenes, they could've done the overlay on another section of it IMHO. It doesn't ruin it though, I still like this op quite a lot. Also, I saw some people comparing it to Star Twinkle's opening song but I think it's an unfair comparison seeing how different both seasons look, I know in the end it comes to personal preference but I think the Healin' Good opening is perfect for it in the way it is just how Star Twinkle's opening was perfect for it seeing how it was a more quirky and fun season.
Tumblr media
Talking about the Ending, the CGI there looks awesome but I do think the camera movements are a bit too hectic, I think they were aiming at something more dynamic, and it does feel like that, but I feel like it's kinda hard to keep track of the dance moves at some parts. But I think the song is so good and the shots are so beautiful it's kinda forgivable this small confusion. I thought precure couldn't top PaPePiPu Romantic and Please tell me...! Twinkle but I was wrong and I'm already hooked on Miracle Link Ring on a way I wasn't expecting to be.
Tumblr media
Now going into the stock footage stuff, I love Grace's transformation and attack. I've seen people complaining about how short both the transformation and the attack are but to me that's not a problem, I know we came from a season where the transformation was very big and there was a lot of scenes and everything, but I usually like shorter transformations more, they have a certain charm to me that long transformation sequences usually don't have. One thing I really like about this one is when the white coat appears kinda like a cape and it wraps it around to create the main outfit, I think that a very nice detail and it's also a part of the cure's designs we missed noticing, their vest is actually simulating a doctor's coat and that's very cool to me!
Tumblr media
Talking about the attack, it was way simpler than I expected it to be, which on itself isn't really a problem, Leo pointed on his reaction video that it looks like this attack is more easy to be used outside the stock footage sequences which can be quite interesting for the action portion and I agree with that, I also like the ode to Floral Power Fortissimo with the beam punching a whole in the MOTW and taking the Element fairy like a flower heart, and I love the final shot with Grace facing backward and saying "take care", I always love when precure does something like this, but if I didn't say I'm a bit disappointed I'd be lying, I wish it was a bit more detailed.
Tumblr media
With the formalities out of the way let's get into the episode itself.
To start things off I really like this city, it seemed like an unusual setting from the descriptions we had, but I like how this is kinda like a touristic/spa city with all those places for different kinds of treatment and the hot springs and all, it makes a lot of sense Nodoka's parents would eventually move to this city.
Speaking of Nodoka herself, she's a real sweetheart. From the trailers we got it seemed like she'd be more of the calm type but she's actually quite energetic and she's more than ready to help other people when they need, she's very pure. And it's very comprehensible that she was this way since she was bed-tied for quite a long time (I assume), I don't know if this was in her profile and I missed this detailed but I was really shocked when they cut to that flashback and she was in a hospital bed, I think this is the first time precure has done something like this for a main cure and it really intrigues me to see how they gonna use this as part of Nodoka's development.
Tumblr media
We got to see Hinata and Chiyuu in this episode as well and while their participation was really short I think it was enough to make a good first impression of who they are. Hinata was WAY MORE energetic than I was expecting, I love her, I also love how she broke the tradition and for the first time (I believe) the lead cure bumped heads with another character that wasn't a fairy XD I'm so excited to see more of her. The Chiyuu interaction was very unexpected as well, I knew Chiyuu was athletic and all but she seemed very calm and polite and I thought her first contact with Nodoka wouldn't be in the midst of her training, so I really like that this was our first impression of her to kinda set her apart of her blue comrades of this franchise.
The fairies this time around are quite interesting, they're full of personality and I think they'll be a great addition to this cast. Rabbirin I think will be the fairy that will be harder to connect with, not because she's a bad character but because I sense some level of stubbornness on her that can be a little annoying at times, you know seeing how keen she was on how her partner SHOULD be and seeing that she refused Nodoka's help until the last moment didn't do a huge favor on her likeability but I'm interested in seeing how they will develop her character. Pegitan was the least fleshed out of the fairies and I hope that this was like that because of his shy personality rather than the show overlooking him. Nyatoran also didn't do a lot but since he's more of an outspoken extrovert he left more of an impression on me than Pegitan did and I'm quite liking him, I hope they don't screw his character because I don't wanna hate on the good cat boy. Surprisingly enough, I think Latte was the one that was left behind the most even though she's the main mascot, maybe it's just me but she didn't really leave that much of an impression on me like the other healing animals did (and yes, I'll call her Latte until we see another merch with her name romanized to confirm if Rate is the correct pronunciation or if it was just a fluke).
Tumblr media
The villain, Daruizen, didn't leave much of an impression too because he didn't do a lot, he summoned the MOTW and taunted Rabbirin but other than that he didn't do much, we also don't know what his evil team is or what their goals are so I don't really know what to think of him yet. Though I really like the summoning sequence and the concept that the MOTW is a little virus or germ that infects the Element spirit making nature sick, I'm really excited to see what they can do with it during the season.
Tumblr media
I think my biggest criticism of this episode is how short the fight was. I was really enjoying the episode through and through, Nodoka's introduction was cool, the scene in the Healing Garden was interesting, I loved when they drew the parallel between Nodoka and Rabbirin at the beginning and then before the action started they drew another parallel between Nodoka and Daruizen with them saying the same phrase with different intonations and meanings, I was really apprehensive seeing the fairies trying to stand up against the villains and that moment where Rabbirin gets trapped under that tree and everything, but then Nodoka transformed and it kinda killed my mood because the fight was short and Rabbirin kinda narrated everything and that took me off from the experience a bit, I think this fight should've lasted longer and only be concluded in the next episode, especially to show more of Rabbirin not trusting Nodoka's abilities to have a good basis for the next episode.
Tumblr media
But despite all of this I still had a very good time with this episode, I think this is will become one of my favorite first episodes of the franchise and I'm more than ready to follow this team through this year and I'm very hopeful that this will be a good season (I hope I don't bite my tongue on a few months XD). What are your thoughts on this episode? Let me know in the comments. I'll see you all in the next time. Healin' Goodbye~

Why do people criticize Jojo Rabbit?
We'd say that this is uncharted territory for distributor Disney, but the company did previously give us their futures face. Hmm. I saw Jojo Rabbit in the best place I could for movies, in my opinion.
For this list, we're looking at why Tyco ITTS 2019 black comedy has proven. So polarizing for critics just to clarify the critical reception thus far has been mostly positive and even watch mojo gave the film a rave review following its TIFF premiere.
Nevertheless, we can definitely see why a movie like this. Wouldn't win audiences over everywhere. Hey Joe, Joe, my old friend. Hi adults. Number 10, the controversial premise. I don't think I can do this last. Of course you can simply by reading it synopsis, you can tell why Jojo rabbit has stirred up so much controversy.
In the midst of world war II, a young German boy named Joe Joe dreams of becoming a Nazi upon learning that his mother has been harboring a Jewish girl in the attic though, Jo Jo begins to reevaluate his outlook on life. I tell them you will be in big trouble throughout this coming of age journey. Our titular character is guided by his imaginary friend.
youtube
Is it worth to watch Jojo Rabbit full movie
Who just so happens to be a flamboyantly incompetent, Adolf Hitler, as inventive as the premises, it was guaranteed to ignite passionate feelings. Critics are unsurprisingly split as to whether the film's premise is inspired or irresponsible. I wish more of our young boys had your blind fanaticism. Okay.
Number nine, how it stacks up to other satires and this world is ruined for everyone and the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way Jojo rabbit. Isn't the first film to satirize Hitler or Nazis 1940 twos to be, or not to be was criticized upon release for its farcical, spin of Nazi occupied Poland.
But today is viewed as a comedy classic. I know you're quite famous in London kernel. They call you concentration camp Earhart. Yes. Yes, we do the concentrating and the poles do the camping Hitler. Technically isn't the protagonist and the great dictator. It's obvious who Charlie Chaplin was parodying. We can learn more about actress playing mother Jojo on Wikipedia.
Arguably the most famous sendup of Nazi Germany is Mel Brooks. The producers. In which two con men put on an intentionally horrible musical entitled springtime for Hitler. Practically a love letter to this own run a week week. Are you kidding display? It's got the close on page four. Some critics are ready to place Jojo rabbit alongside these revolutionary respected comedy.
What do critics write in reviews about Jojo Rabbit?
Others, however, would claim that the film has more in common with the bridge sit-com Hile, honey I'm home, which was so misguided and tasteless that it only lasted one episode. Oh 10 night. You will make an schnitzel. What a joke. You must be real mad at me, honey. I'm a very, very bad Hitler. Number eight, what's going on in the real world right now?
Fuck man. The house, although world war II is in the past. The same, unfortunately can not be said about bigotry. Nowhere was this more apparent than at the 2017 unite the right rally in Charlottesville, which attracted several hate groups, including neo-Nazis. Since prejudice and discrimination remain prevalent in today's world.
Tumblr media
It's obvious why various critics would object to a film that makes light of Nazi Germany. Nevertheless, satire can reflect modern times as well as history in ways that straightforward drama can't. Some might argue that now isn't the right time for a Nazi satire, but others would debate that society needs a movie like Jojo rabbit. A great story about the Irishman is here.
Now more than ever, you're not to nuts. Jojo, tenue kids likes dressing up in front of you. If somebody wants to be part of a club. Number seven, the humor, the best weekend ever.
Soundtrack in the highest level of production
Wow. Your enjoyment of Jojo rabbit will hinder on how hard you laugh. Or of course, if you laugh, the film didn't tickle. Roger Freedman. Funnybone who wrote in his showbiz four one, one review Jojo rabbit is actually borderline antisemitic offensive on many levels and not even funny. Sam Adams of slate couldn't have disagreed more proclaiming for Jojo rabbit comedy.
Isn't a means to minimize, but to analyze wise, to pry at the way, hateful ideologies can be embraced as a comfort and how beneath their promise to. Blame how the world really works is an understanding no more sophisticated than a child's it's time to buy some books. Since humor is subjective, we guess there isn't always going to be a clear line between what's offensively funny and what's just plain offensive.
Oh God. Number six. Jewish jokes. Did you know, Jews can Z to each other's mind. So tell us, you know, who saw one? They could look just like us of Tyco. ITT satire is clearly the Nazis. However, the director who's of Jewish and Maori heritage also pokes fun at Judaism. Hi, well, the real Jordan Rumi was horrified by the audience's reception at the screening he attended.
Writing, you have no idea how it is to be surrounded by thousands of people laughing at jokes, specifically directed at Jews. That being said, Rumi seemed to be in the minority of a group that found the film. Hilarious. As with Borat and South park, many would argue that the humor and Jojo rabbit isn't intended to mock the Jewish faith, but to criticize how ignorant and Semites are a cute number five, the life is beautiful comparison, right?
Jojo Rabbit's reaction to mom's death
Yeah. Critics have stocked a Jojo rabbit up against numerous other films. But life is beautiful. Seems to be the one that's invited the most comparisons this 1997, Italian dromedy also presented world war II through a lighthearted lens, centering on a Jewish man who uses humor and imagination to shield his son from the horrors of the Holocaust. It's interesting what they write about this movie on Amazon.
Well, the film won an Academy award for best foreign language film, and even got nominated for best picture. There were those who found the movies comedic tone, inappropriate. Over two decades later, we will continue to debate if the movie is a life affirming fable or a dated misfire. It's actually eerie how much these two films have in common, especially since both one TIFs peoples choice award.
Tumblr media
That is the strongest thing in the world. Number four, is it shocking enough? I was your age. I had an imaginary friend come in so much stuff even before the first trailer dropped Jojo rabbit was being built up as one of 20 nineteens most controversial movies. Weirdly enough though, some critics have expressed disappointment that the film isn't more shocking.
Well, audiences have arguably gotten more sensitive with time. There are still patrons who crave comedy that pushes the envelope to its limits. It's time to burn some books. Brian Talarico of the Chicago sun times felt Jojo rabbit played it too safe. Writing the final scenes of Jojo rabbit are too easy for a film that needs to be dangerous and daring.
Are the best scenes already included in the trailer?
Even if the film doesn't go all out with its edgy concept. Seeing Tyco, ITT dresses, Adolf Hitler will be more than enough to make a few jobs drop. What am I going to do? No idea. Going down the house in Glen Winston church one, negotiate number three. It's depiction of Nazis. The playlist Charles romesco took issue with the films, humanization of antisemites writing.
YTT concedes that a good percentage of Nazis really do hold hate in their heart. But maintains that at least some of them aren't you two seem to be getting on. Well, it doesn't seem like a bad cost. How much pain and suffering the Nazis caused many audiences will understandably struggle with this message.
However, if Ron Jones proved anything with his third wave social experiment in 1967, it's that even ordinary people can get swept up in the dangerous ideals of fascism. Likewise, Jojo rabbit poses, a challenging question. If we're not willing to acknowledge the bad and the good in people, how can we ever rid ourselves of prejudice?
Nothing makes sense anymore. Yeah, I know. It's definitely not a good time to be a Nazi. Number two it's message. And mother took me. She's kind me like a person, whatever your thoughts on Jojo rabbit, Tyco ITT clearly wanted to spread an anti hate message. YTT also claims that he started writing the screenplay before Nazis regained relevance in the media.
There's little doubt that why TTS intent was noble, whether or not the final product successfully gets his message across is where critics are split. A doubt of the a V club felt that making fun of Nazi Germany had been done before. Thus taking away from the movies, broader anti hate theme. Peter Howell begged to differ in his Toronto star review writing Taika YTT knocks it out of deer park with the meaningful lunacy of his anti hate satire, which is equal parts.
Adolf Hitler's thread in the movie

If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications. Number one it's depiction of Hitler. Well, they call me a scared rabbits. Okay. Let's address the giant rabbit in the room. Tyco YTT spends most of his screen time prancing around in a Nazi uniform and toothbrush mustache. If you want, you can read here about preparations for making a movie and other curiosities.
Tumblr media
Without a doubt, YTT, didn't set out to deliver a serious or dignified portrayal of Hitler. Rather YTT aspired to make the fewer look as goofy and idiotic as possible. Oh, . Just painting Hitler as a wacky, even likable buffoon desensitized us to the atrocities. He committed though. Some may say yes while others may argue that it leaves audiences more informed and open-minded.
At the end of the day, everyone is going to have a different opinion of Jojo. Let them say whatever they want. People used to say a lot of nasty things about me. Oh, this guy's a lunatic. Oh, look at that psycho. He's going to get us all killed. okay, i’m on my way home from AWA and i’ve finally had time to actually look into overwatch 2 and collect my thoughts, so here goes... this is gonna get far too long and essentially be a big essay that i know most people won’t care about, but i just really wanna get my thoughts out so i’ll drop it under a readmore! also be warned that if you‘re super into the new character designs you won’t be into part of this post, lol. but anyway:
first off, i think a lot of the discourse i’ve seen about it seems... overblown and based on inaccurate info?? (don’t worry i am not talking about hong kong here, people are absolutely justified in hating blizzard for that and so do i). people keep acting like they’re gonna charge $60 just for new maps or something but for one thing no price or release date has been announced (in fact, the dev team doesn’t even know when it will release and it’s been said that we may have to wait until 2020 for a date, because it’s still early in development), and for another thing overwatch 1 wasn’t even $60 on pc at launch?? yes on console it was which sucks but most of the playerbase is on pc, and the base game was $40 at launch for us. blizzard cannot be so colossally stupid that they’d charge more for this than for the base game, and if they do i’ll absolutely be complaining about it, but for now we literally have no clue how much the cost for OW2 will be.
and on top of that, it’s... not just new maps? it’s new maps, yes, but also multiple new heroes at launch, a whole new PvP mode, a PvE story mode which is something people have begging for to move the lore forward, a new updated engine, and the PvE will have its own maps and brand new abilities and skill trees—with the abilities and skill trees being unlike anything overwatch has done before, and uniquely exclusive to OW2 and not affecting the PvP so you’re not unfairly disadvantaged if you don’t have OW2—and i also feel the need to reiterate that it’s still in early development so i highly doubt we already know all there is to know. blizzard hasn’t been entirely clear on what overwatch 2 even is tbh but it’s certainly not just new maps and if you think it is then i’m actually begging you to spend at least 30 seconds on google because 30 seconds is really all you need to click on one article and see that that’s far from the truth.
also if you’re not interested in the lore then from what i’m gathering you don’t even need to buy it because apparently OW1 is getting all the same stuff except for that? like, people are saying blizzard should just release it all as free content, but apparently they almost are since the new “push” game mode, plus the map that comes with it (and any future ones) is coming to OW1 and it’s gonna keep getting all the hero updates and everything that isn’t exclusive to the PvE mode and players will be put into the same PvP lobbies across games?? correct me if i’m wrong on that but it sounds like if you already own OW1 and don’t want the story mode stuff you literally don’t need to buy OW2 at all—so if you do then you’re just buying the story mode/PvE stuff, that’s it. and if you do, every cosmetic item you already own will transfer over! it’s also not like OW1 is done updating, as we know we can still expect new heroes in it before OW2 releases.
don’t get me wrong, i am a bit worried that the amount of new content won’t be enough to justify the price, i do still hate blizzard for the entire hong kong controversy and desperately wish they would do better, and as a massive lore enthusiast and someone whose primary reason for loving overwatch is based in its characters and world i am very frustrated that this is what it takes for the story to actually move forward, but i’m also really excited to see where this all goes and i honestly think people are largely just complaining without actually looking into what they’re complaining about. i also literally don’t understand the idea that “lol overwatch already had this for like a week before they took it out” about the PvE stuff and would like someone to explain that to me if possible because i’ve been playing this game since very shortly after launch and i’m confused asjdjdnfkd
that all being said i do have what i’m guessing is a pretty unpopular opinion though, and it’s that i... i don’t like most of the character redesigns we’ve seen, and the ones i do like i mostly just kinda like, i don’t love them or feel excited about them, while the rest i’m neutral toward or hate, and that actually really upsets me because the ones i hate most are for two of my most favorite characters and it makes me worried for what they might’ve done to redesign and potentially mess up my other faves—but i guess these will be the designs going forward, and everybody’s pretty fanart is gonna have these designs, so i’ll just have to get used to them.
to be more specific on that last point: i absolutely hate lucio and mercy’s hair and i’m honestly really sad about that, especially since i run a mercy appreciation blog and i don’t wanna celebrate her new design on it because i hate it so that would be very insincere of me but i don’t wanna say negative things and complain on it either, but i just think her hair looks so strange now. and i like lucio’s outfit tbh but his weird neon glowstick hair just... ruins it, it looks so bad to me i can’t stand it and i want his regular hair back. i would honestly prefer not to even acknowledge these 2 designs (well, mostly the hair i guess) exist if i could help it. i also don’t like reinhardt’s beard or bun although i am glad to see his face exposed and like the lion on his armor, and i can see his new hair possibly growing on me eventually. and while mei’s design is mostly okay i loved her old hairpin, it was distinctive and cute and i’m sad it’s gone because i dislike whatever it is that’s in her hair now sjdjdkgkd. also before seeing a side by side comparison i legit had to ask a friend if anything was even different about winston or if i was just blind—which i guess, considering how i feel about the others, is a good thing for me lol. but if you like all these designs that’s valid and i’m happy for you!! just don’t expect to see me praising them, but i’m also not gonna be super negative like this too often either.
for kinda-positives: i actually do really enjoy one single new design though, and it’s genji’s, but not for any specific reason other than i’m excited that he’s finally wearing clothes lol. i don’t feel strongly either way about the design of the clothes themselves (...though i do lowkey agree with the people saying they’re boring looking, but hey, my man is finally done running around naked everywhere, so i’ll take it). and i like tracer’s new glasses and the fact that she ditched the crocs finally!! i’d also like to talk a bit more about mei’s design—a friend of mine is saying people are complaining they slimmed her down, and i haven’t seen any of that for myself but if they really are then i uh... don’t get that? she still looks just as fat to me?? i’ll just let this comment i made in discord as soon i saw the new designs speak for itself:
Tumblr media
so yeah, if she is any skinner it’s because of the newly normal-sized coat, because when i look at the models side by side she legit looks the same size to me or maybe a little bit smaller—but hey, who knows, maybe i truly am just blind! but anyway, if you gave her old hairpin back then i’d honestly have no issue with her new design.
i truly hope the new designs will grow on me more though, especially mercy’s because the feeling of having an appreciation blog for a character you love a lot and not being able to celebrate something like this is a feeling that really sucks, but i... feel very alone in disliking them as much as i do and while i’m glad everyone else is happy i’m sad about that?? at least all the old skins will still be there though, so ultimately i suppose it isn’t that big a deal, i just really really hope i don’t hate symmetra or hanzo’s redesigns too whenever we see them, assuming that every character is getting these design overhauls.
i’ve also had the time to finally watch the gameplay trailer and the cinematic, and you know what’s one of the things i’ve always loved about overwatch? the maps have always been gorgeous, and the ones shown in the OW2 trailer are no exception and i can’t wait to fully see them and explore them. the gameplay itself looks solid too imo and i am very excited to see sojourn will be added to the game, she’s gorgeous and i love her. and the cinematic!! it had so many cute little details, like the ana & baby pharah photo and the birthday photo, and tracer having that picture of emily. and the winston-tracer-mei friendship, getting to see genji and rein being badasses... seeing brigitte and then echo both show up, mercy and mei having that cute little moment, everybody working together and being amazing. the scene between brigitte and tracer that was adorable, the fact that rein made a terrible “ice to meet you” joke the second he was introduced to mei. seeing winston so happy to be able to say that overwatch is back. just... it was cute and cool and fun and i liked it a lot, it reminded me of what made me fall in love with this game in the first place and it made me really excited! i also think that the story should’ve moved forward like this much sooner and that we should’ve been getting much more shorts and comics in between, and i also wish that we didn’t have to wait until overwatch 2 to get sojourn because we still don’t actually have a black woman that we can play as and that really really sucks, but i’m still looking forward to everything as well.
so, in conclusion: i uh... may have mixed feelings about some things but i have to confess that i’ve loved overwatch for years, many of the characters are very special to me, and i’m genuinely excited about overwatch 2. i fully intend to start looking into charities that support hong kong as soon as i can because i want to actually do something for them and show that i’m not ignoring what’s going on over there, but i also wanna buy overwatch 2 whenever it’s released and i feel excited to play it. unfollow or block me for that if you have to but nothing good would come from me being ashamed to say it and i won’t hide it, i definitely hate blizzard but it doesn’t remove my love for the world they created. i‘m going to donate to hong kong charities and i‘m also going to buy overwatch 2 (which probably won’t even come out until 2021 or something), and i feel like giving more to them than i give to blizzard instead of just not doing anything at all is a fair enough way to deal with this issue especially since i am doing my best to boycott them otherwise. and if i play the new OW2 content and it sucks and/or just isn’t worth whatever the price is i’ll complain about it then, and if/when we see other redesigned characters i’ll probably complain about some of them too, but for now i really am excited for the most part!

The Last Jedi
Here we go. The most controversial Star Wars movie ever (unless Rise of Skywalker has reviews that are just as mixed. I haven’t read any so I don’t know how it’s been received yet.) I actually really really enjoyed the Last Jedi, but I haven’t rewatched it since I saw it in theaters.
Also, unrelated, but literally just a few hours ago I met Oscar Isaac. I was doing a caroling event where I work, and he came by with his son to watch. During one of our breaks, he asked if his son could try the microphone and he held him up so he could whisper and sing stuff into the mic. It was adorable.
I seemed to be the only person who recognized who he was, though one of my co-workers said he had thought so too but he wasn’t sure until I confirmed it. So I went up to Oscar and said hi, asked if he was Oscar Isaac, shook his hand, and thanked him for coming. He says that it was great and that his son loves to sing.
I always joked that I’d bump into Oscar one day since he lives in Brooklyn, but I didn’t think it’d actually happen. And not while I’m wearing a Star Wars shirt and Star Wars socks (which he obviously couldn’t see since I was bundled up in a coat and a scarf and boots but whatever). And definitely not the day before I’m supposed to see the Rise of Skywalker.
I’m still freaking out oh my god. Ok. Time to rewatch the Last Jedi.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... This was the first Star Wars movie I’d seen in theaters in like 12 years at this point. Seeing those words on a giant screen again was amazing. “Certain that Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will return and restore a spark of hope to the fight.” I love that line. I love any and all comparisons of Luke to hope. Yes I am biased. But also, restoring the spark is exactly he does in the end so yes, I love it. It’s just now hitting me that we’re picking up exactly where we left off. Having 1 night between the two movies is every different than having 2 years. ...Was that whatsherface from Game of Thrones, Catelyn’s creepy sister? (IMDB says yes) *BB8 beeps* “Happy beats here buddy, come on.” BB8 sort of said the thing! Also, OH MY GOD I JUST MET OSCAR ISAAC AND NOW HERE HE IS ON MY SCREEN WHAT THE HELL. Was today even real? Oh General Hugs. “Skinny guy. Kinda pasty.” Knowing Oscar and Domnhall are friends makes this better. Oh BB8. Very honorable of Billie Lourd’s Lieutenant Connix to make sure she’s in the last ship leaving the base so everyone else leaves before her. I forgot about the chain reaction of bombs destroying their own Resistance ships... You know, Paige dying while dropping the last of the bombs was already emotional. Rewatching it after you know she’s Rose’s sister makes it worse. First Binary Sunset of the movie. General Hugs has a very good upset face that makes me not feel bad for him at all. More like I want to punch him. Snoke can use the Force across the galaxy... forgot about that. I realized I didn’t mention this in the last one, but I remember the crew complaining that when they filmed the end of Force Awakens it was a cloudy day, but then when they went back to the island for TLJ it was super sunny. And now that it’s been pointed out, I noticed it immediately. Luke throwing the lightsaber. I can’t remember if I was spoiled for this but I feel like when I watched it, I wasn’t that thrown off by it. Something else I didn’t mention at the end of Force Awakens is that I LOVE this set. The stone houses are amazing. Oh porgs. Also, that porg looking into the lightsaber always gives me anxiety. The first words we hear Luke say in 40 years are an annoyed “Go away.” which at least is less whiney than the Tosche Station. Oh Chewie’s like “DUDE. WE NEED YOU.” “Wait... where’s Han?” Awww. Throwing in a little Vader’s theme in there. More temper tantrums. People getting mad at Luke calling a lightsaber a laser sword (in a purposefully mocking way) even though George Lucas himself called them that in some interviews. Yes, it’s not a laser sword, but Luke is trying to show how ridiculous he thinks the idea of him taking down everything is by calling a lightsaber that. I remember being like “Luke... no let’s not just milk that thing... oh ew” I do love the shot of Luke using the giant stick to cross to the other cliff and kill the fish. God that’s a steep hill. “No one’s from nowhere.” “Jakku.” “Alright that is pretty much nowhere.” That’s funny. “It’s time for the Jedi to end.” Remember when that line in the trailer made the fandom literally break down? I love knowing that behind the scenes, Carrie had to slap Oscar a billion times. Also, I do not blame Leia at all. So many people were mad about Leia and Holdo demoting Poe, but Poe was too fearless in that moment. Yes, he destroyed the ship and it worked out, but they lost so many people and they already didn’t have many to begin with. It was worth it, but at a very high cost. So I don’t blame her. Heyyyyyy it’s that girl from that Black Mirror episode and what was that other show? Chewing Gum or something? (IMDB says yes it’s Michaela Coel) See and Poe’s already learning a little by asking permission. Of course... later on he doesn’t ask permission... but whatever. Leia’s Theme... causing me pain. Oh, Kylo didn’t kill his mom. We’re supposed to be happy about that? The bar is on the ground. The utter horror I felt the first time the control room was destroyed and Leia was pulled into space. Oh I love the moment when Leia flies in. Because I’d heard that in the books and comics, we get to explore Leia’s Force abilities and stuff but we don’t get it in the movies besides “I feel that Luke’s in trouble.” Which sucks, because she is the “other” if Luke didn’t work out, so she’s just as strong as Luke if she got trained. They should have just trained both kids honestly, why did they pick the boy? Not saying Obi-Wan and Yoda are sexist... but they’re probably sexist. Also, foreshadowing. I actually noticed the hologram of the ship and Leia flying through this time. Oh Chewie. I like the porg that literally has his jaw dropped in horror. Knowing now that the dice were kind of a symbol of Kira (was that Emilia Clarke’s character?) and Han’s relationship makes me not like them as much. Still, cute throwback that they’re still on the Falcon. We can just ignore they weren’t there in Force Awakens (I kept an eye out and didn’t see them) The way Luke laughed when he said “R2!” I just... my heart. “Nothing can make me change my mind” *R2 plays the Leia hologram* I literally just went “AWWWW” out loud because I forgot that that’s why R2 started playing it. Oh my heart. That hurt the first time. Luke standing over Rey, but offering to help her. Parallels. Oh Admiral Ackbar. I love Holdo’s dress. I love the draping. Someone teach me how to make it. “Thank you for making me aware.” Yeah Poe, she already knows. Stop mansplaining. This is literally a case of mansplaining, why would Poe think he’d have to explain to a commander that there’s no fuel? Yeah it’s a little harsh, but is Holdo wrong? All of these fanboys complain about Canto Bight, but forget that it was Poe’s idea. Then they go and say Holdo was too mean should have put Poe in charge. Guys. Poe’s impulsive. We love him, but he’s the ultimate Gryffindor with no fear and will just do anything without considering consequences. I do wish Holdo had been more open like “I have a plan. You don’t need to know all the parts of it. Just let me do what I need to, ok?” instead of “Just follow my orders.” but still. Oh poor Rose. “Doing talking....” Oh she’s so cute. “I’ve had to stun 3 people trying to use this escape pod.” We love a girl who can fight. Yeah. Once again. Not mad at Rose. Finn does have some selfish tendencies, he’s well meaning but ultimately selfish (or at least, only thinking of Rey). So I do not blame Rose for stunning him.
And now I will take a nap since I have to go to a show tonight. And then I will finish the last 3/4-ish of the movie when I get home later.
Annnnd I’m back!
See. Rose has good reason to be mad at deserters. Ok so it wasn’t Poe’s idea to go to the Star Destroyer it was Finn’s. I will give him that. But still Poe went along with it. “That... wasn’t exactly my...” Oh 3PO. I wish Maz had had a bigger scene. More Lupita please. I have one question: from what angle is this hologram filmed? And how does the camera follow her? I guess it’s multiple hologram cameras, but still, it followed her as she rolled and ran around. Also, did Finn call Maz or did Poe call her? Because as far as we know, only Finn knows her. It seemed like they both had the idea to call her, but that Poe had it first. Did Finn tell Poe about Maz? I’m glad they showed Finn handing Poe the binary tracker thing, since for a second I was like “What if Rey had popped up next to Finn on the Star Destroyer?” I’m glad Rey’s first instinct is to shoot Kylo. “Can you see my surroundings?” “You’re gonna pay for what you did.” “I can’t see yours.” Why do I remember that line so vividly? Why does it make me feel so unsettled? Rey, my sweet Rey, I wish you had just told Luke that you saw Kylo. I love Luke’s explanation of the Force. And him messing with Rey was funny. I love when Rey’s reaching out and feeling life, death, peace, violence, etc. And I love Luke saying the Force doesn’t belong to the Jedi, because it doesn’t. The Jedi failed years ago. “You didn’t even try to stop yourself.” Luke’s horrified. But also, Rey’s just like an extreme version of Luke. Yoda knew that Luke’s emotions could make him vulnerable to the dark side, Rey’s already vulnerable. Yeah, I don’t blame Luke for being scared of Rey after he feels like this is Ben all over again. Oh my god. I love the porg that has a metal piece over its head. That actually made me laugh out loud. Poor Chewie.
I just had to refresh tumblr because my draft wasn’t saving. It brought me back to my dashboard. Where there was a spoiler for the new movie and it wasn’t tagged. PLEASE tag your spoilers people.
The water hitting Kylo still confuses me. Say what you will about the Canto Bight plot... the costumes are AMAZING. The costumes literally make the whole side plot worth it to me. Literally I was just in awe by all the costumes during every single scene. And the set! The set’s fantastic too! I literally just paused every single second to take in all of the costumes. Do I care if the Canto Bight trip ended up pointless? Nope! Because it gave me some of Star Wars’ best costumes. Oh... to be an extra in the Canto Bight scene... Just show up... And put on a beautiful outfit... And do nothing else but pretend to drink, talk, and gamble... That’s the dream. Oh hi Mark Hamill! That was cute that they let him voice that little thing. I remember noticing the thing and being like “...is he important?” and nope, it’s just Mark doing an extra voice. Oh I love the Fathiers. Aww and it’s the little Force sensitive boy. I have thoughts about that kid that I can get into later. The way BB8 jingles with the coins. I love it.
Rey: *Does a move with her stick* Rey: *Does the same exact move with the lightsaber* Fanboys: She’s too good too fast! Mary Sue!
As I said throughout all of the Force Awakens, she’s just applying the skills she already had. If anything, a lightsaber’s easier since it’s half the length and she doesn’t have to worry about the back of it hitting her. LOL, remember when we thought this shot was an epic shot of Luke training her? Good times. Oh that poor fish nun. Everything Luke says about the Jedi is true (also did I not say they failed earlier in the post? Luke agrees with me). Rey’s right that a Jedi got Ani to come back from the dark side, but the Jedi’s system enabled him to turn in the first place. Soooooo yeah. Oh Luke. Don’t blame yourself. Kylo was already basically gone. Sure, seeing his uncle standing over him with a lightsaber definitely didn’t help... but it’s not the only thing that made him turn. Who is this captain of the medical ship? He looks familiar. (IMDB says he’s Danny Sapani. I probably recognized him from the Crown) Oh BB8. Finn, did you learn nothing from Rey? Put the cover back on the vent! Awww the Fathiers have such sad eyes... I love the Resistance ring. Can I buy one? Ok. The shot of the bubble egg lady singing felt like it was much longer the first time, but it’s really only a split second. I. LOVE. THE. CANTO. BIGHT. SET. I know it’s a real town in like Italy or somewhere near the Mediterranean. I want to go. I love it. I love that the first thing Luke does when he decides to use the Force again is to seek out Leia. Oh poor Adam became a meme after this. He just has a very wide and bulky body, ok? God Luke looks so scary in Kylo’s flashback. “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.” That reflection scene is so visually stunning. So in a way, it’s like Luke is failing Rey like he failed Ben. He’s not helping her in the way she needs, so she’s being lured by the dark side instead. I love the walls falling around Luke. “Did you do it? Did you create Kylo Ren?” Rey, he already told you earlier that he believes it’s his fault, so the answer from him is yes. I can’t remember if we hear this story of Luke and Kylo one more time after this or not. “Then he’s our last hope.” Ok ew. No. Kylo is not allowed to be compared to hope. Only Luke, Leia, or Obi-Wan can be. Oh for a second I thought that torch was a lightsaber. YODA!!!!! I think I had been spoiled for Yoda showing up. It was definitely still exciting though. “The sacred Jedi texts!” Oh Luke. Oh memes. Not as whiney as I remembered. “But that library contained nothing that the girl Rey does not already possess.” Because Yoda knows she stole the books. Oh Yoda. I love Yoda. Oh Rose. Ok, so I will give it to Poe that at this moment it doesn’t seem like Holdo has a good plan. Abandoning ship isn’t necessarily cowardly, but on the surface it does seem like it puts them in more danger. Literally earlier today I watched a video about the layout of the Millennium Falcon, and the escape pods were mentioned. And I thought to myself, wow that must be something from the novels since we’ve definitely never seen that in the movies. Welp... I was wrong... Rey’s in one now. I was about to be like “Do they not care that an escape pod just docked?” before I saw Kylo. LOL the iron coming down like a ship. I feel like I remember being completely terrified when Rey stepped in front of Snoke. Oh BB8. Bumping into stuff. I remember being super relieved that DJ (has he told us this is his name yet? I can’t remember) gave back the medallion. Captain Phasma! Hey girl hey! Leia shooting Poe is still funny to me. Also Lieutenant Billie Connix is smart.  I love the scene of Holdo and Leia saying goodbye. Also, Holdo’s purple hair with her bright blue eyes is super striking. Good choice. Snoke puts down the lightsaber. Unknowingly sealing his fate. Literally when Snoke reveals he connected their minds, I was like OF COURSE. Because the whole time I’m like neither of them are strong enough to do this. “She was more interested in protecting the light than she was seeming like a hero.” See. And that’s the flaw in both Poe and Finn. And Rey to an extent. They’re thinking about the big picture, but in context of smaller things like seeming like a hero, saving Rey, saving Kylo, etc. But Holdo’s thinking of only the big picture. I knew DJ betrayed them, I just forgot how badly.
And here’s another annoyance (which I was sorta trying to touch on earlier). Everyone hates the Canto Bight plot, yet they complain about Holdo trying to take charge. If Poe just let Holdo take charge and ignored Finn and Rose’s idea, then her plan would have been a complete success. No Canto Bight, no DJ to betray them, all the transports make it to Crait unnoticed, and the First Order eventually destroys a ship that’s empty except for Holdo. They complain about Holdo, but don’t think about the fact that Holdo could have prevented another plot they hated if the main characters had just listened to her.
And then Snoke hits Rey and literally puts the lightsaber back to where it will kill him. Ok literally I just misread a caption that said “Lord Vader” as “Lord Voldemort” and I was very confused. Taking a second to say that I love this set of Snoke’s throne room. Been thinking it forever, but Kylo picking up the lightsaber off the ground and seeing the reflection in the smooth red floor is amazing. Kylo igniting the lightsaber through Snoke is amazing. Also, I typed “Ben igniting” before literally freezing for a second and being like “...ok that’s a lot to unpack” I guess when he does something good my brain thinks of him as Ben instead of Kylo. ALSO, arm #16 and #17, I love that Snoke’s arms were cut off too in true Star Wars fashion. And I am VERY excited to see this fight scene again. I told myself not to pause at all during the Kylo and Rey team up fight, but I paused literally a second into it because Binary Sunset yes.
And my idiot brother and my mom are texting in the family group chat so it’s popping up on my screen throughout this scene. Ugh.
All of these red knight weapons are so cool. And I forgot about the one that gets chopped up... Oh my god one is a sword that transforms into a whip. LOVE. IT. And I love the quick lightsaber ignite through the head. Love it. Woah how is there still 44 minutes? I remember this battle being much closer to the end. I was wondering when the red walls went away, but I rewinded and saw that they had been slowly burning away after Rey made something hit them. Nice touch.
Ugh my brother and mom will not stop texting.
“You have no place in this story.” Wow Kylo, harsh. Oh shoot I forgot about the lightsaber breaking until they started their Force tug of war with it. I’d always wondered what would happen if someone lightsped through something... I want to say that I realized what she was doing before they told us, but now I realize that they basically told us what she would do when the First Order guy said “they’re preparing to hyperspeed.” so I guess I just caught on to the obvious hints.
God that moment still gives me chills. The silence. The way it sort of goes black and white. The multiple angles. So good.
I know for a fact that I spent the rest of the movie from this point on with my hands over my mouth in a constant stake of shock/fear/anxiety. Oh BB8. Some people thought this was ridiculous. But I had just spent the last few months rewatching the prequels before seeing this, and compared to the stuff R2 does, BB8 clumsily controlling a walker is nothing. Oh how I love Gwendoline Christie. I FORGOT THAT WE SAW HER EYE IN THE MASK. I hope Phasma survived. She’s so awesome. Ok my quality is like horrendous right now so I’m gonna refresh. LOL I FORGOT ABOUT GENERAL HUGS NEARLY ATTEMPTING TO KILL KYLO. Oh I forgot how much I love Crait as a set location. OH AND THE ICE DOG THINGS! LOVE THEM! Poe petting BB8 when he comes back kills me. I like those space age two person laptops. “People believe in Leia.” *Binary Sunset plays* My heart. Ok for a second I was like “This first person camera is like a war movie” and then it turns and we see the trench and I’m like “...ok... ok fine but that was very literal.” The red footsteps. Just... guys this set is so AMAZING. Ugh, these red streaks of dust behind them are so amazing. And when Finn passes in front of the camera, it gets covered in the dust and blurs part of the lens. Just like the Rathtar goo in the Force Awakens. I wonder if that’s going to be like... the thing of the sequels. One shot that has the camera lens partially covered by something. Also, I just wasted time trying to figure out if there’s an official name for that or not... oh well. The winding stripes left behind as they weave around... just... amazing. YEAH! GO CHEWIE! GO REY! Oh my god I forgot about the porg roaring. “Oh, they HATE that ship!” I’M DEAD. Look at the salt and how it forms the crystals in the trench. I love it. I FORGOT ABOUT THIS SHOT OF THE CAVE FULL OF THE RED SALT. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I remember when the trailer had the first shot of the gorilla walkers, and I didn’t notice at first that there were normal AT-ATs next to them, and then I realized these things were twice as big as AT-ATs and I was horrified. See, and now Poe has learned that you can’t always be a hero and is making a good decision. I forgot about Finn’s speeder literally melting as he gets closer. I don’t understand the people who were mad that Rose stopped Finn. I for one was HORRIFIED at just the thought of Finn dying this way and thankful she stopped him. “That’s how we’re gonna win. Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love.” The kiss is pointless but I love the line and sentiment behind it. Oh god. Ok. Here come the emotions. Binary Sunset is playing. I was a wreck. And a little of Han and Leia’s Love Theme as she sees the dice. I remember actually noticing that in the theaters and half-sobbing. Oh god the forehead kiss. Oh and he winks at 3PO as he walks by. My heart. This is the specific shot of the gorilla walkers and the AT-ATs in a line that freaked me out. That shot of Luke standing up against all the First Order walkers and ships. Amazing. That shoulder brush though. Kylo’s so dumb, he literally just watched that lightsaber get destroyed, he HELPED destroy it. He should have known something was up, it couldn’t have been repaired that quickly. Purposeful shot of Luke’s feet not moving the salt. That Matrix back bend though. “I will have killed the last Jedi.” He said the title. Also, is that the only time it’s said? Because they say it a lot in Force Awakens but I don’t think so yet in this movie.. “And I will not be the last Jedi.” Ok so now it’s said again by Luke. Purposeful shot of Kylo’s shoe leaving a footprint as he runs to Luke. I’m pretty sure I probably shrieked when he tried to slice Luke in half.
I just now remembered that I’d actually kind of wondered if he’d be a Force projection or something when he first showed up. Because I’d just watched Return of the Jedi like a week earlier and saw Obi-Wan do it, so I wondered if Luke was doing it too. Especially when Poe said Luke was distracting the First Order. It passed my mind and was confirmed when Kylo couldn’t hit him. And here’s where I started to feel like my world was crumbling...
Oh god. My eyes are wet. It hurts. But when I watched it the first time, I really felt like my world was absolutely falling a part and ending forever while I watched Luke die. With the stupid binary sunset in front of him just like when he was a teenager and when he was a baby. One of the first things he ever saw was the binary sunset. I was like “This is beautiful, but that doesn’t mean I’m not completely in pain and dying.” That shot from above of Kylo with the stormtroopers, mirroring a shot from the prequels of Ani. Nice. So do they still have that connection even if Snoke’s dead?
HEY! Hey. Those dice were still visible to Kylo even after Luke was dead... was Leia Force projecting them to Kylo? It wouldn’t take as much work as doing it to everyone else at once from lightyears away. One person, your son, would be easier. So maybe... maybe Leia’s the one continuing the projection of the dice. I’m gonna stick with that theory thanks.
Awww BB8 asked Rey about his antenna, just like when they first met. Remember when people were like “Are Poe and Rey gonna be a thing?!?!?” and of course I’d much prefer that over Reylo thanks. The books! Somehow, that obvious shot of the books goes over so many people’s heads. So many complaints about the books getting burned, when they literally show us that Rey saved them. I had never noticed the bunks in the Millennium Falcon either until I saw that video earlier, and I’m glad I got to actually see one in use since Rose is sleeping in one.
Oh GOD the entirety of the Resistance can fit on the Millennium Falcon... that is NOT good.
I LOVE the scene of the kids retelling the story of Luke. I must have already gone in depth about this 2 years ago, but I love it. Luke became a legend in the end. He didn’t necessarily want to be one, but he’s become one. It was exactly what was in the opening scroll, he restored the spark of hope. That subtle use of the Force by that little boy. With Binary Sunset playing. And I love that last shot of him holding the broom up like a lightsaber.
I nearly forgot that they put in “In loving memory of our princess, Carrie Fisher” at the end. That’s what got me to finally cry. 40 straight minutes of covering my mouth in anxiety, then feeling like my world was crashing down around me as Luke died. Having it dedicated to Carrie made me just start sobbing so hard. Watch that happen again tomorrow.
I remember when I left the theater, at first I was like “What if the boys is Rey’s brother?!” but then... I realized that a huge point of the movie went over my head for a second there.
The fandom got so caught up in figuring out who Rey’s parents are, whether it’s Obi-Wan or Luke or Leia or even Palpatine, that they were mad when Kylo said they were no one. But like... guys... not every single Force user is related to the Skywalkers or anyone else we already know. There were hundreds of Jedi in the prequels, because anyone can be Force sensitive. Obi-Wan’s parents were nobody, Qui-Gon’s parents were nobody, Mace’s parents were nobody. They didn’t come from long lines of Force users (at least in movie lore), BECAUSE THE JEDI WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO HAVE KIDS. The Skywalkers aren’t even a long line, it’s just 3 generations at this point. So literally none of the Jedi of the past came from powerful Force users (or at least from ones who got the chance to become Jedi) since that literally goes against the code.
Luke found at least 11 other Force sensitive kids to train alongside Ben, their parents were all definitely nobodies since he’s the last Jedi. Ben is an anomaly, Luke and Leia are anomalies, the Jedi don’t have kids! The fandom got so caught up in figuring out who Rey could be related to, that they forgot that for millennia the individual Jedi were not related to anyone.
Anyone can be Force sensitive. Anyone can be a Jedi. Rey is an example of that. That little boy is an example of that. That’s why I love that the little Force sensitive boy was the final shot of the movie. He was meant to reassure and remind us after the Rey parentage reveal that anyone can end up Force sensitive. They don’t need a famous/powerful parent. They can come from anywhere and be anyone. And I love that that’s the final note of this movie.
Some people were not reassured. Some people couldn’t handle the idea that Rey’s powerful just because she’s Rey, not because she’s someone’s daughter. She HAS to be related to someone to be that powerful, right? But every Jedi before her who was just as powerful wasn’t related to anyone, so why does she have to be?
ANYWAY! I was actually worried over the last 2 years that I’d rewatch The Last Jedi and not like it as much as I did in theaters. I still like it a lot. Even the Canto Bight scenes get redeemed by the costumes and the set being so amazing. But I love the message of don’t be a hero, this is bigger than just you. And I love the message that even if you’re “nobody” from “nowhere” you could still be Force Sensitive and you could still be a Jedi. I love Luke’s send off, I love that he does end up reigniting the spark and being a beam of hope again. I love it.
And I’m excited to see the Rise of Skywalker tomorrow.

hey - ‘yellow curtains’ and ‘21:21’ from the ask list thingy :)
(Thank you so much for sending this, I’m on a long ass bus journey and this is giving me something to do other than brood and listen to music 💓)
21:21: When/where did you first hear about SKAM?
I saw a few GIFs of Isak and Evem floating around on Tumblr, around the time the O Helga Natt clip dropped. I didn’t really get it, and wasn’t into watching stuff with subs at that time, plus the clip things seemed complicated to me. So i kinda left it for a while, and then when i saw some hype for season four on instagram, literally a few days before the trailer dropped, i started to do more research. I watched Season 3 first, in split up clips on YouTube because I didn’t know DailyMotion/GoogleDrives were a things. Because of that I missed half the story and thought the show was nonsensical bullshit, but I just put that down to not watching seasons 1&2. So i watched them, on GoogleDrives this time and it all went uphill from there. Watching Season 4 in real time was so cool, all the theorising and texts sucked me in immediately.
As for finding the remakes...I fell out of love with SKAM for about a couple months after Season 4 ended. I found the fandom toxic, after the whole shipping Henrik and Tarjei happened, and people theorised Lea was a stunt girlfriend...that shit was wild. So i got into other stuff (mainly IT and Stranger Things) and turned my nose up at the concept of remakes, I heard about France first and then Italia. I watched s2 of Italia first and just though, meh. I didn’t like it that much, so I left the remakes alone for a while until all the ones we have now had at least one season. I found SKAM France’s Season 3 in my YouTube recommended, the full length episode 1 and then 2, and thought ‘fuck it’. I watched SKAM Fr S3 clip by clip after Episode 2 and I was fascinated by the idea of remakes thereafter.
Yellow Curtains: Rank the remakes.
(I’m giving reasons because there’s still 30 minutes to go on my bus ride)
1. Netherlands
Right, I know i don’t show it much on this blog but SKAM NL is my all time favourite. It just feels so unique and like a totally separate entity to SKAM og. The characters are so painfully relatable it makes me laugh, like Isa licking her phone screen. The girl squad reminds me of me and my friends and our collective stupidity, and the fact that it didn’t get renewed for Season 3 breaks my heart. They could’ve done wonderful things with Lucas’ character and the Isak/Even storyline, and the fact that we’re missing out on that makes me so sad. I hope one day it does get renewed, but for now, we have 2 amazing seasons.
2. France
My entire blog is dedicated to Lucas and Eliott. Are you surprised this ranks as high as it does? I’m so attached to this cast and characters, and the dramatics of Season 3 are forever in my heart. There isn’t much to say, except that I believe Season 4 was crappy and they did Imane dirty, because I think my blog speaks for itself. I’m SO fucking excited to see what Season 5 and 6 will bring, because new plot lines take me back to when I first got into SKAM.
3. WTFock:
So this actually moved from like spot number 5 to 3 within like 2 weeks. Can you guess why? Season 3 so far is actually my favourite remake of Isak/Evens story. Sander and Robbe are amazing characters, and I’m utterly obsessed with the both of them. Although Lucas and Eliott are nearly taking their spot as the no.1 Evak remake, the cinematography of WTFock knocks them down a peg (as well as the soundtrack). Plus Zoë and Senne are my favourite Noorhelm, which is shocking because I dislike ALL noorhelms (even the OG).
4. Druck
Controversial opinion, but I don’t like Druck that much. I don’t know why, but I just don’t. Maybe it’s because Matteo’s character hit too close to home or because I didn’t like Season 2 at all but, I’ve got no interest for it. It’s good, a brilliant remake and I love my baby David (+ Lukas is the sweetest human) but I found myself growing bored midway through Seasons 3&4. Not awful, not disgusting or controversial just mediocre. Still entertaining and original, just maybe not my cup of tea?
5. Italia
So where do I begin? The show itself is good, albeit a little safe, but all in all did a good job with all storylines. The cinematography is amazing and you can tell the people working on it are utterly passionate about the product they’re putting out. My only issues with this series are the actors and actresses. If i didn’t get into the cast, or follow them on social media, Italia probably would’ve ranked higher than Druck or WTFock. But I did and here’s my issues. Number one: White Sana? The casting choice was poor, and made a character I adore unlikeable. It takes away from the roll and diminishes it entirely, which makes me uncomfortable. I’m glad the show got cancelled before Season 4 was made, that would’ve been a shitshow. Number two: Rocco Fasano does my head in. ‘whitewashed is a racist word’ ass ‘says the n-work IN THE TV SHOW’ ass ‘supports the idea of white sana’ ass and ‘is generally annoying’ ass. All his topless pics and obscure instagram captions made me unfollow, which sucks because I’ve drawn him and he was nice enough to repost it and call me talented. But when I found all this out...yikes I had to unstan.
6. Austin
Watching SKAM, in my own language? weird. Haven’t watched it, will probably watch it when Shay’s season comes out (pun intended)...Because I’m GAY and she’s BABY. Next.
7. Es- 🤢 Españ- 🤮
Dirty ass. I hate this fucking show, and the audacity it has to denounce pansexuality with such hatred. I watched Season 2 as the clips dropped, excited for the first WLW Evak remake and was gutted when it turned out shitty and panphobic with a terrible fucking cast. Joanas mental illness was handled badly, Cris calling her crazy made me sick to my fucking stomach. I stopped watching after that clip dropped. Then hearing they denounced the existence of pansexuality, making fun of it even, in THE SHOW ITSELF. AT THE END OF AN LGBT SEASON? DISGUSTING. The cast is a clusterfuck. Irene makes me ill, with her boldness and ignorance, her entitled attitude makes me so fucking angry. And Rizha (idk her name) even though her music does SLAP i feel like she only used the show to gain more popularity in that aspect. ‘Cute Bitch’ was a whole ass publicity stunt. The SKAM Es fandom is a plague. I cant mention the show negatively without getting a string of fucking bread emojis and the words biphobic and transphobic getting thrown about. GRIM.
Thanks again, and if you read this all...why? my opinion doesn’t mean shit.

Hello naughty children, it’s 1 am rant time
So! My brain is slightly more together now than after the trailer first dropped and I’ve had some time to process all my Feels. I’ve settled on cautiously hopeful, with a hint of apprehension and a strong dose of ‘oh my god, this is really the end’. But overall, I think I feel pretty good about it, though it really raises more questions than answers. They meant it when they said ‘teaser’ lmao
(Rant is mostly positive, includes explicit discussion of what we’ve learned from the panel and the trailer. Some reservations and negative thoughts, plus a lot of speculation and touching on such controversial subjects as Reysky, Kylo redemption, and Hux in TLJ. Cut for length because I have no idea how to just use fewer words lmao)
I especially liked that it was so focused on Rey and that it’s a very clear torch-passing. Which, tbh, probably should’ve happened before now and did a little bit, but this really felt like the true moment of it. She’s the hero. She’s going to be a legend. I love that. Also that flip? Holy fuck. Slammed in the face by the reminder of how gay I am lmao. I have some Thoughts about it I’ll get into below, but from a visual point of view, it’s RAD AS HELL. I also love Finn and Poe featuring heavily and that the trio really does seem to be together for most of the movie. Which is nice. I think we need that. JJ said something in the panel about it being an ‘adventure’ and I think that feeling was captured well in the trailer. That part really excites me
Also! My boy! Kylo’s looking like a right hot mess and tbh I’m here for it lmao. I still have a strong urge to bathe him and kinda hope he doesn’t look like a depressed wreck of a human being for the entire movie, but still. I love my big messy boy. Also him just yeeting that dude into the ground? DAMN. I sometimes forget that Kylo is like… b i g. It’s a nice reminder. I also LOVE that the broken helmet rumour was real. That’s my fucking boy. I frequently tag him as ‘my precious disaster boy’ for a reason and I’m glad to see more of that. I would honestly probably lose interest in Kylo completely if he was ever like, calm and composed and not a complete fucking mess lmao. I kind of wish we’d seen just a touch more of him, but I know there’s more info to come and I still like that it focused heavily on the heroes for the first one. I imagine we’ll see more of him later
I’m… not really sure what to think of the Palpatine reveal. If he’s going to show up as a cameo of some sort, say as a Force ghost or something, then that’s pretty dang cool. If he’s going to show up as a ‘hello naughty children, it’s Force lightning time’ and take over as the main threat, I’d admittedly be disappointed. As much as I think a Kylo redemption is likely (and whether people like that or not, I’m indifferent and have made my peace with it as long as it’s done in an okay way) in no small part because Disney likes money, I still feel like replacing him with Palpatine is just… it feels derivative. We’ve had Palpatine before. A lot. 6 movies of him plus his appearances in the side materials. Do we really need more?
Now, there’s been heavy suggestion that there is some unknown threat that comes into this one and if that’s Palpatine, it would match up with the rumours. But I’d much rather it be something from his legacy with him only having a cameo. Because the really terrifying part about Palpatine is he had a plan for the continued survival of the Empire even in the case of his death. The Aftermath novels are really well done that way and tbh, especially with Chuck Wendig’s hinting on twitter, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see something from there come up. I mean, technically the entire First Order is Palpatine’s legacy. Something from his legacy could truly be anything and I like that possibility a lot more than just ‘oh damn, time to kill this asshole again’. Idk. We’ll have to see how that plays out
The title is also curious because it really confirms one of 2 possibilities: either Reysky, Kylo redemption, or both. Which, again, both of those are huge spoilers, so it’s an interesting choice to play for a title. That said, we don’t know which, so it doesn’t tell us definitively, I suppose, but still. And no, I don’t buy the theories about it referring to Luke or Anakin somehow returning; that would be stupid. We have new characters for a reason and they need to be the central focus. This is the same reason I’m not fond of Palpatine being the big bad; let the new villains shine. I also don’t believe it’s Leia because I doubt they had enough left over footage of Carrie to make that work
Of course, I would’ve enjoyed having a nice 0.2 seconds of the back of Hux’s head lmao, or even any info on the dark side characters at all because I’m a filthy villain fucker, but I’m not super upset about it. I’m kinda sad that Phasma is confirmed as dead, but I also expected that. My biggest hope for Hux is really that he gets to be scary and not treated as a joke, so I hope JJ really leans in to that. Let him have his moment. Let him be a credible threat because, really, he is. Tbh, I’d be more afraid of him as my nemesis than the vast majority of Star Wars villains. He’s got a higher kill count than anyone in all of Star Wars except maybe Palpatine himself (exact number of deaths due to the Clone Wars, the Empire’s rule, and the rebellion combined are unknown, but are probably in the billions, which would put him and Hux, terrifyingly, on the same level). It still throws me for a loop how often that’s forgotten, both by fandom and, sometimes, the official material. Hux is what happens when ambition, intelligence, ruthlessness, and fervent belief in a cause converge. I know he’s going to fail and he’s going to die in this one but, fuck, please let him die as the Starkiller instead of a ‘miscast tinkerer’. He deserves that much and, more importantly, so do I lmao. And Domhnall does too, tbh, because he’s a great actor who deserves better than being sidelined completely
(Another reason not to like Palpatine coming back: basically guarantees Hux has no role and gets completely forgotten because there’s a new big bad in town. I might actually cry if that happens)
I also know we will get more on the villains later, so we’ll just have to see how that pans out. As for other new stuff, Naomi Ackie’s character looks rad as fuck and I love her already. I’m also ECSTATIC to see Lando back. I fucking love Lando. And he finally got the Falcon back! Tbh I hope his role is rather significant and it’s kinda in line with Han’s role in TFA. I’m excited by that possibility. Also the Leia scenes… fuck. That hug with Rey fucked me up hard. I can’t believe we’re doing this without Carrie and it breaks my heart tbh
Another curious note: so we see a tie fighter that looks like a modified Silencer flying at Rey. We also see Kylo in a cockpit that definitely does not match the Silencer’s from TLJ. So it’s possible that was not actually Kylo flying at her, which raises some interesting questions. I saw some people saying they could see Poe’s jacket in the window but I think they’re full of shit and just seeing something they want to lmao. It remains to be seen who is actually flying it. The context of that scene is also odd: in what fucking universe does it make sense to use a SPACE craft with GUNS capable of atmospheric flight to run someone ON FOOT over from like 3 feet off the ground? It doesn’t. That’s stupid. That does make me think it’s possible it’s some sort of really risky training exercise, no matter who is behind the controls. I suppose it is possible that perhaps the guns were disabled somehow and the pilot is just going for broke, but the ship looks undamaged and that strategy still doesn’t make a lot of sense. The correct thing to do would be to come from above and crash it into the person while ejecting moments before impact, not chasing them like you’re driving a car. It’s dumb. I really hope that’s not real combat because it makes no damn sense to me lmao. Another reason lending to the training exercise idea: if I were Rey, I would’ve gone below, not above. She’s small. A tie fighter hovers. She would’ve fit under it easily and been able to slash from below without having to jump into the damn sky. Though, counterpoint: she has her lightsaber ignited and is turning to slash at the cockpit. Not really a nice thing to do to an ally of yours helping you train, hm? Idk. The scene looks cool as fuck, but the more I think about it, the more it bugs me tbh lmao
As a last thing… it’s really hitting me that this is it. This is the end of the Skywalker saga. Even though I know they have other stories planned with new characters at some point, imo, this is really the end of the true part of the franchise. How much am I really going to care about Star Wars without the familiar faces? After decades… this is really it. That’s… very bittersweet. I have loved these movies, always, but especially so in recent years (as evidenced by the existence of this blog lmao) and they’ve been a big part of my life. Yet here we are. And I just… I’m feeling melancholy about that in and of itself, but I also really, really want this to be a satisfying ending. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but I want it to fit. I want it to feel right. I want closure and I want this ending to do justice to these characters, including the main ones, the side ones, and the ones who came before but aren’t featured in this trilogy. That’s really what I’m aching for here. And I am cautiously hopeful, but I am also nervous. This is a very tall order and, while JJ is probably the person best qualified to give that to us, it doesn’t change how much of a challenge that is. It’s a lot. And… I am definitely sad about this being the end. Even if I love the movie and it’s amazing and lives up to all of my dreams, it will still end and this will be it. I honestly don’t know how I’m going to feel when that actually comes and it kinda scares me a little. But a satisfying ending would help soften the blow, so we shall see. Idk. I’m sad and a little scared just because of that, all other reservations aside
I think that’s all I’ve got for now? I’m excited for more and I don’t know if we’ll get much over the rest of celebration, but there might be snippets. I’d still like to see the Knights of Ren too, given that we’re pretty sure they’re in the movie but like… where? Lmao I want to know. Anyway. This is mostly word vomit, so don’t take it too seriously. My predictions could be way off base and we won’t know for a while so yeah. If you read this far, congrats and thanks for reading my rambling!

Scott Hall: Living on a Razor’s Edge
After pondering over ideas and looking over my notes the last couple of days, I concluded I had no idea how to go about my entry for today’s blog that is for WWE’s 2016 BluRay release of Scott Hall: Living on a Razor’s Edge (trailer). I am presuming most people reading this probably are well aware of some of Scott Hall’s personal struggles throughout the years. WWE’s documentary on his life and career attempts to cover it all within 81 minutes. If you have not seen it yet, nor have that time to spare then before reading on I encourage you to at least check out ESPN’s much more condensed 18 minute mini-doc they did of Hall on a 2011 edition of E:60. That E:60 piece was where Hall first publicly revealed he inadvertently shot and killed a man during his job as a bouncer when he attempted to grab a gun away from a person who pulled a gun on him. Living on a Razor’s Edge opens with Hall revisiting the scene where it happened and him getting instantly emotional over the memories. Hall’s mother and brother are interviewed throughout and both mentioned how that day forever changed him. It is the first of many dark tales from Hall’s personal life that he reflects on.
From that hook of an opening scene the feature then transitions to Hall’s childhood where he reminisces growing up as a military kid and always being on the move. Hall recalls idolizing Dusty Rhodes in the Florida territory is what convinced him to go into wrestling. I saw Hall interviewed in a few other nWo and Kliq retrospectives released by WWE over the years, but in those I believe he never touches on his early days in the business debuting in the Kansas territory as part of the American Starship tag team and to more success as a tag team champ with Curt Henning in the AWA. Seeing that vintage footage accompanied with Hall elucidating about how Dusty got him his first pair of wrestling boots and how he refused to be AWA champ because he realized the promotion was a sinking ship he wanted to abandon were fun new anecdotes from Hall I never heard before. Seeing Hall talk about his meager success as the Diamond Studd in WCW was another interesting early facet of his career. DDP, Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon were all interviewed here about their early memories of Hall and provide extra quotes on why this made Hall more determined to land a job in WWE. Hearing Hall and Vince remember the days of coming up with the Razor Ramon character and brainstorming the ideas of the iconic vignettes introducing Razor to the WWE in 1992 are more noteworthy highlights from the interviews here.
Hall goes into detail of his early WWE years with some key angles such as the first televised WWE ladder match at Wrestlemania 10 and when 1-2-3 Kid got the shocking upset in ’93 that is still an iconic memory of RAW all these years later (it even made WWE’s official list of Top 25 RAW Moments for RAW’s 25th anniversary earlier this year). One early highlight from the Razor run was when Hall discusses appearing on Jerry Springer for a surprise visit to children with AIDS where Hall spontaneously gives his Intercontinental Title to the kids because it felt like the right thing to do and hearing Hall and Springer interviewed here remember that moment along with the footage is pretty powerful stuff. From here the doc then jumps to the controversial time when Hall and Nash left WWE in 1996. Both of them and McMahon break down how it all came to pass, and hearing them all give their side of the story is still fascinating to this day. I say that because I still recall being a huge WWF kid at that time and getting crushed upon hearing both guys were leaving the company to go to the ‘competition.’ Yes, Hall makes sure to address the introduction of the fake Razor and Diesel later on in 1996 too. A part of me wishes WWE would have done a separate deep dive on Hall’s four year run as Razor Ramon. There were so many memorable feuds they did not address in the doc. I would have loved to hear Hall recall feuding with Jeff Jarrett, Diesel and Goldust for the Intercontinental title. Also from watching the bonus matches it brought back memories of how Hall was a master of ring psychology and he perfected the gradual build of a match where there were several times where fans were quiet at the beginning to becoming a hot crowd by the match’s final moments. HBK and Nash both have some interesting quotes about Hall’s wrestling IQ and how they helped him during those old early-to-mid90s years.
WWE has already done a couple nWo biographies so I was curious to how they would cover his career in WCW on Hall’s solo documentary. I like how they went about it as they had Nash, Hall and Waltman all interviewed and they give the abbreviated version of their nWo heydays reigning supreme over the Monday night rating wars. Hall touches on a couple of things he introduced to his solo-act in WCW such as the pre-match ‘survey’ and how Rocky II was the impetus for ‘Hey, Yo.’ Hall and Eric Bishoff both recount the art-imitates-life storyline where WCW brought Hall’s behind-the-scenes drinking problems as a on-screen WCW storyline and hearing Bishoff regret that booking decision is another poignant scene in this feature. Hall essentially admits to those dark days carrying over to his return to the WWE in 2002 and why it did not last that long. There is no mention of Hall’s handful of brief TNA/Impact stints, which is probably for the best. Growing up as a wrestling fan and keeping up with Hall’s struggles over the years made the final chapters of the doc especially powerful. There is a montage of the many arrests and controversies that Hall made news in from 2002-2012. Nash has some key details of Hall at his lowest moments and how he stuck by his side that stuck with me. Triple H, Michaels, and Bishoff also all chime in here about these hard years for Hall. Footage is shown of the 2011 independent wrestling show were Hall appeared heavily intoxicated and hearing Nash, Hunter and Hall all comment on it being a new low for Hall brought back many sad memories. This all was happening during the 2000s when a rapid number of early adult-to-middle aged wrestler deaths were transpiring and I recall wondering countless times during those years how in the heck Scott Hall was still alive.
Thankfully, there is redemption for Hall and it is tastefully covered here where Jake Roberts and DDP are interviewed about taking Scott Hall into DDP’s rehabilitation house and helped Hall kick his addictions. Hearing them and Hall reflect on this was a much needed and gratifying feel-good moment that culminates with Hall being interviewed again at that club where the shooting went down where he owns the guilt he carried all those years in the defining moment of this feature. The doc then winds down with how Hall got inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and now helps coaches at the WWE Performance Center and how he helped got his son Cody started in the business too. Living on a Razor’s Edge is easily one of the best of documentaries WWE has made. There are many gaps they could have filled in on his in-ring career but it feels wrong to ask for that given what Hall has went through and recovered from in his personal life. Since this is a home video release, WWE gave it their usual jam-packed assortment of bonus features with eight minutes of deleted scenes, the entirety of the several introductory Razor Ramon introductory vignettes and 27 matches, five of which that are exclusive to the BluRay.
Deletes scenes highlights have Nash detesting the mask he used for his ‘Oz’ character in WCW, Hall’s memories of wrestling his buddy, Justin Credible on a ECW PPV in 2000 and Michaels recounting Hall giving Nash some great in-ring advice he promptly followed. I have only seen a handful of Hall’s pre-WWF matches before this BluRay so seeing several matches from those days and how fast he evolved in the ring was a treat. I did not know Hall already had the Razor’s Edge perfected as the Diamond Death Drop in WCW. Since that is not addressed in the doc, I will link you to this clip instead where Hall reveals its origins. Other standout matches in the extras include the aforementioned stunning upset at the hands of the 1-2-3 Kid, his ’93 WWE Title match against Bret Hart, a ’93 Coliseum Video bout against Michaels I have long forgotten, his first IC title win over Rick Martel and his still-iconic ladder match against HBK at Wrestlemania X. From 1993 through most of 1995 I fell out of wrestling for a bit due to being on the losing end of sibling wars for control of the television and the only wrestling I had access to during that time was a videotape of SummerSlam ’94 one of my dad’s coworkers taped for me. Razor vs. Diesel on that show was one of my favorite matches for many years (along with the Owen/Bret cage match!), so to see that included in this compilation earns bonus points from me!
Hall’s nWo highlights here contain a bunch of matches that have hokey finishes or disappointing run-ins and the only WCW matches included here that stood out are the Outsiders first tag titles win over Harlem Heat and Hall having an awesome match against Sting for the WCW World Title at Uncensored ’98. Hall’s match against Austin at Wrestlemania X-8 holds up better than I recalled, and it features Hall taking the best Stone Cold Stunner ever. Of the five BluRay exclusive matches I give high nods to check out his SummerSlam ’93 match against Ted Dibiase and a ladder match I completely forgot about that saw Hall square off against Bam Bam Bigelow from a 1999 episode of Nitro. As you can tell by now I am giving Scott Hall: Living on a Razor’s Edge the highest of recommendations. Aside from one of the best documentaries WWE Home Video has produced, it has a ton of bonus matches that proves how Hall was one of the best workers of the ‘90s. Hall’s personal story is one that is a must-see that shows the highest highs and the lowest lows one can achieve, and to see Hall escape from that dark tunnel is a heartwarming tale well worth the viewing for any wrestling fan. Do you think it’s too early for spoilers for episode nine?
Hello @rivernight12!
I’m so sorry to answer this only now and I wanted to do this issue justice.
I’ve been in the fandom since December 2015, when I saw TFA, so I am going to talk about my experience waiting for both TFA and TLJ.
From what I know, nothing is really concrete until a couple of months before the actual release of the movie, when the trailers drops.
There was a crazy redditor that posted a storyboard for TLJ on reddit very early, like in february-march 2016 that actually got some stuff right, like the Space Vegas and that Kylo would kill Snoke, and there would be some sexual tension between Rey and him, that Finn could get involved with another chick. Was it luck? What it wild guessing? I don’t know. The thing is, this poster has recently posted some controversial plot for episode 9, but I’m taking all this with a grain of salt. Maybe he’s got some stuff right, maybe not. I’m not getting wild about it. And his specs are WILD.
I only trust 2 redditors I know have gotten some stuff really right, mainly Bothan Spies, whose predictions always turned out right. He predicted the Hut scene and the conversation between Kylo and Rey, so it’s someone who works inside. I trust him a LOT.
For TFA, the plot actually leaked a month before and was released by Makingstarwars. But the same makingstarwars predicted a KOR scene in episode 8 that NEVER came, and I was VERY disappointed by that. So now, in the wait for episode 9, I’m not getting excited about anything but OFFICIAL info as well as what these two redditor have to say.  The rest for me is pure spec and mostly bullshit, people who want to have views and are basically clickbait.
So, IMO, take everything lightly and just enjoy the spec, because you’d be disappointed. That’s what happened to me because I saw some reddit posts that didn’t turn out right and, even if I loved TLJ, I was left with a bittersweet feeling the first time. It won’t happen again.
Get really excited by: trailers, official info. I still remember the FRENZY on this hellsite when the TLJ trailer dropped and Kylo offered his hand to Rey. It was a collective craziness and I FUCKING LOVED IT.
I hope this helps!

I actually like Bride!Sanaki
by @dangerouseggwolfangel
So… regarding the new banner, and Sanaki. I have an unpopular opinion but I know you won’t judge me for it. If people didn’t told me what was the problem with Sanaki being on this banner I wouldn’t have figured it out by myself, that’s for sure. When I saw the trailer I was super excited, because I still don’t really believe that Sanaki is in the game at all over so many popular Tellius units, and now she is even the first Tellius character to get a seasonal alt??? And beside that, Marth got an alt, so I was totally convinced people would have rejoiced on Tumblr. And then… people pointed out the… problem… to me. I’m not naive, I’m an adult who has seen Nowi in a lot of “interesting poses” thanks to the internet, but when I saw Sanaki in a wedding dress I didn’t think even for a second that this was a way to sexualize her or worse. I saw a little girl playing dress-up. I think it’s because in my head I have a distinction between little FE girls who will get sexualized no matter what (Nowi, Delthea, Mist, Elise, Amelia, Sakura) and those who are not seen that way by anybody. I thought Sanaki didn’t even have many fans at all, much less fans that considered her their waifu. It’s like people who consider FKanna their waifu, I don’t think they exist at all because… she’s everyone’s daughter. I’m not sure if FE really thought enough about things before making this banner, but I don’t think they intentionally wanted to pander to a certain type of customer. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. And about them choosing the 10 year old Sanaki instead of the older one, I’m 100% sure it was an unfortunate accident. They just chose the PoR Sanaki because the RD one was already in, and they wanted to kill two birds with one stone. I think it’s a reasonable explanation, and a better one than “they wanted to make her as young as possible in order to appease lolicons”. I could be wrong, but I really hope I’m not, because IS would lose many points in my book if I am. I guess what I wanted to say is that I was really happy to have Bride!Sanaki when I saw her, but now people could think bad things about me if I get her and boast about it, and that sucks. I don’t want this controversy to lessen my enjoyment of the unit. And I certainly don’t want IS to get scared of repercussions and decide to never give a kid an alt ever again, because that would mean no more stuff like summer Elise and Halloween Sakura :( I won’t say people who are complaining that they shouldn’t, they have every right to complain, and IS actually created a mess by not being enough clear about Sanaki just being an innocent girl who’s playing wedding and not someone’s actual wife, but still… they are not as evil as you are making them out to be. Just my two cents
———————————————
First of all: that’s a totally legit opinion, and I agree with it to a certain degree ^^
If you like Sanaki, or if you never really cared about her but find this alt very cute, then by all means, go ahead and be excited about her release and pull for her. I’ve seen people yelling about “she can’t get married, she’s a child!”, but she is NOT getting married. NONE OF THE GIRLS are getting married and most of them don’t even have a canon spouse. They’re not wearing wedding dresses because they’re heading to church; they’re wearing them because they’re participating in some kind of traditional event.
But as someone who has very unfortunately already encountered nsfw art of F!Kana and F!Morgan… there’s definitely going to be a minority of players going after Bridal Sanaki for the sake of “loli power”, and I fear there’s going to be nsfw art of her. That doesn’t mean the majority shouldn’t/is not gonna appreciate Bridal Sanaki for what she is: a cute little girl dressed up as a bride for an event. I said it was moe fanservice, and judging by her “cute” damaged pose, I believe it is, but moe fanservice differs from ecchi fanservice. We know there’s no intentional/obvious ecchi fanservice here because her dress is very modest and even her damaged art doesn’t show bare skin; so while there definitely are gonna be sick artists out there who are going to… twist that design (I mean, utterly disgusting things like Sonic Dreams Collection exist, so at this point EVERYTHING is possible), it still doesn’t make her existence bad. Especially since she wasn’t drawn in a sexy manner at all, contrary to Bridal Tharja or Ninian, who show up their bare legs in their damaged portraits. In my opinion, the moe fanservice is intentional; the ecchi fanservice, while not wanted/intentional, is definitely gonna appear in fanart as a consequence. It’s not IS’s fault (although I cannot believe none of them thought that’d happen, but eh, in this day and age you wouldn’t be able to make ANYTHING if you didn’t want it to be sexualized on the internet by people whose tastes and actions you can’t control)
I still think it would have been more… sensible to make Sanaki a flower girl instead. It wouldn’t have changed anything about the whole loli appeal thing, but I don’t know… I can’t help but feel uneasy and I can’t really explain why.
But eh, what’s done is done, so the best thing to do is just appreciate how cute Sanaki looks and how nice it is that her damaged art isn’t lewd in the slightest ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Those who don’t like Bridal Sanaki, don’t pull for her. Those who like her, just go for her, and may the RNG Goddess have mercy on your orbs (and your nerves! ^^).

D.C.² - I ain’t got no time for Bond!
I was going to see the newest James Bond joint.
Tumblr media
I'm not a die hard fan, but I have a friend who is, and I was going to see it with him. You know that feeling when you're moved by someone else's passion for something?? It's like people who LOVE Chick-Fil-A; nah, those who LOVVVVVE that stuff. Popping open the sauces, slowly dipping the chicken; appreciating every dunk. You can hear and somehow feel each bite, lick of the fingers, and slurp of their drink. It's like experiencing some naughty ASMR. This is the type of fandom my friend has for his beloved Bond.
But, my friend canceled (that bastard). It's here when I realized... I don't care about Bond. I don't hate him, I just don't care. I think the only Bond movies I've seen are the Daniel Craig ones. I guess that means I'm more of a D.C. fan than a Bond fan. And even out of the movies with him in it that I saw, I couldn't tell you where they are now in the story:
My Recap:
There's was some heavy parkour, early on. It was one of the best action scenes ever. Def top 10 of parkour fight scenes.
There was an Adele song, right? Like many, I love her. But, it was this song "Skyfall" that took my love to higher levels. She's been on kind of a tour of dating black men. I'm hoping and believing that I'm next on the list.
Tumblr media
There was a card game, a Quantum of Solace... there was a man who kidnapped James, stripped him, and started smacking his balls around. Odd. I don't remember that kind of thing ever happening to Superman or Batman.
Someone shot him, right?? I mean... I remember him falling into the river, and then popping up out of the water like "BLEEP! WHO THE BLEEP SHOT ME?!" then they rolled the credits, and played the Bond music.
Tumblr media
That's all I remember. Now, I hear that he's married? And that this movie is close to 3 hours long. NOW, I go from "I don't care" to "Bleep you, Bond." Three hours?! Plus, in the trailer he looks sad... I don't want to watch 3 hours of sad, married Bond.
Soooooo, I watched Dave Chappelle's new special instead - "The Closer"
Tumblr media
Not quite Bond, but he still looks good.
I don't know what that suit is made out of, but it looks hot. And yet, he barely sweats in this special. I'd be sweating bullets in that thing. It would be soaked. And he’s wearing a cool chain too! You can’t tell from the pic, but it’s got a classic “C” for Chappelle Show- it takes a lot of confidence to wear a chain repping your own last name/show. He's done this before. Imagine yourself wearing clothes with your name written on them; kinda douchey, but not when Dave does it.  And that's one of the many reasons he's the GOAT.
In his first set of jokes, he pokes at Johnson & Johnson, "Space Jews", and ejaculating on a preacher's face :)
(The GOAT)
It wasn't until the LGBTQ+ jokes came that the sweating began. I'm not talking about Dave sweating; I mean the audience.
If you’re unaware of the controversy, google Dave Chappelle (I'll wait... )
Yeah, it's not pretty. BUT, this is not new for D.C. The trans community in particular have had people leading the charge against him.
I'm not a transgender person, so I won't speak on how they should feel, or when they should and shouldn't be offended.
I'm not an asshole (at least not in this scenario), so I also won't share D.C.'s jokes. If you want to join in the laughter, sweating, and fuel for dragging Chappelle, click on Netflix yourself.
However, I need a lil more content, so here's a vague view of the gist of some jokes with zero context:
J&J

The Muppet Haunted Mansion pics just make me smile (unrelated:)
Spoiler Alert, I'm also not God, so I won't judge him. I am an artist though. I am an artist who appreciates quality art.
I will say that the art of this special (and that's what it is - ART), is brilliant. I laughed. I was uncomfortable. I learned. I laughed some more. There are even some sensitive moments in here of genuine human experience.
I choose to view this as art. Dave Chappelle is a comedian, and if you are going to judge him, it should be on those grounds. Somewhere along our journey we started viewing comedians as preachers of the gospel of life. Them relaying a message that we don't like, so we seek to stone them. Let's look at this Dali painting.
Tumblr media
You've got the artistic elements, the message he's trying to send, the feeling he's trying to give-off, the weird stuff (arguably, all of it is weird), and possibly the offensive:
The naked woman, everything potentially coming after her - gun, tigers (why can’t a woman just be free?)... what the hell is going on with that fish and the freaky elephant.... the fact that I covered up the naked woman, etc.
If you saw this painting at a gallery you could choose to try and understand it or choose not to. You could choose to love it or call it shit. But, regardless, you then move on. If you hate it or are offended by it, you don't have to seek out the people attached to this painting or drag Dali's name, or threaten the people of the gallery or attempt to burn the gallery down... you could, but... Idk... it's your choice. I choose to see it as art. In my opinion, Chappelle’s art is brilliant. Like all brilliant works and people, others might not get it, but that doesn't stop a true artist; you keep it moving.
This isn't his best work. It's not nearly the funniest work of his, but it's been a rough few years... in context of the material, it's been a rough life for a lot of us (obviously some more than others). There are some articles out there about this special that aren't telling the truth about the special or what Dave Chappelle said. As Dave says in this special, "people don't listen". Love or hate what he says, you lose the validity to argue if you haven't watched it and actually listened to what his points and jokes are hitting on.
Grade: Brilliant B- for me
I knocked it down from an A only due to the pain and uncomfortableness involved throughout. But, that's what I dig about it.
If I've been sick and need some soup and vitamin C, I should def grab some. It probably wouldn't be the best meal, but it's what I need, and better for me at that time than maybe pizza, wings, and beer.
I added a minus, cuz this special is more of a response to people calling him transphobic. While I like “The Closer”, it doesn't really stand on its own. It is indeed his closer. Many have someone in their family that always has to pray before you eat. There are general prayers of “Thank you, Black Jesus! Now, let’s eat!” Then, there are times when that person gets in an argument or is displeased at that moment before they pray. Then, you kinda get some “Thank you for the food.”, but it awkwardly becomes more about what just upset them; this is similar. Luckily, D.C. is a master at making awkward funny. All of the specials as a whole = Grade A tho.
Perhaps I'll get to Bond at some point. I don't know that I'll see it in the theatres though. I'm a busy man. Besides, 3 hours of MARRIED BOND?!? - doesn't that notion go against his brand?? I don't want to see that. It's like someone trying to get me to try a salad at McDonalds... that's just not what they've ever been about.
Perhaps Michael Myers can sweet talk me into the theatres next weekend. He doesn't need 3 hours of build up. He knows why I'm there. Fast and Hard and Gone! - we've both got stuff to do.

BMC Miraculous Ladybug AU RP Thing: Purge Akuma
An RP me and @pika-ace did relating to the BMC Miraculous Ladybug AU, where an Akuma brings The Purge to life.
(The Akuma flies above the city, he smirks and casts a spell upon the city) Akuma: Time for the real life Purge to begin! >:) (A couple of seconds later, everyone jolts up from their beds, hearing the sound of a loud siren)
Jeremy: God, why are all akuma’s like this?!?
(Suddenly, an announcement echoed throughout the city, talking about something called "The Purge")
Michael: Wait...no...NO we are NOT in that god awful movie!!
(As soon as the word "Purge" was heard by Jane, she immediately bolted out of her room and started dragging every precious thing she can think of into her room. Joe
walks out of his room and sees Jane dragging the shelf that once contained the Miraculouses)
Joe: ...I’m assuming you know what this purge means?
Jane: YES I FUCKING DO! It's when every crime in the nation becomes legal MEANING that during the Purge, it's A OK to break into someone's house! So i'm NOT gonna let
ANY Miraculous related thing you own get stolen by some freak!!
Joe: O_O
Jane: So yeah, gotta put every single precious thing in the house in my room!
(Joe nods and pulls out his phone for a group text, telling everyone to meet up and to be extra careful)
Eric: *text* Alright, meet you there!
(Joe nods and closes the text and looks up to see Jane running back to her room but carrying Kirsty) Joe: How did you...? Jane: ADRENALINE. Kirsty: Janey, I know my parents are out of town but you didn’t have to break me out of my own house... Jane: I DONT CARE! EVERYTHING PRECIOUS STAYS CLOSE TO ME
(Jane puts Kirsty in her room and runs out only to get Mittie)
(She then sits in her pile of stashed objects, holding Kirsty and Mittie close) Joe: ...Alright then I’ll...be back soon...
Jane: Wait Dad, stay! I know you're a Miraculous Holder but i don't want to loose you in whatever hellstorm is gonna brew up out there! D:
Joe: Jane, an akuma is causing this, and I’m not letting my children fight this without me!
Jane: I've SEEN clips and trailers for the Purge movies! I learned the basics of how this goes! Even if an Akuma is doing this, i don't want you getting killed by some
maniac! *she lets go of Mittie and Kirsty, then she holds onto Joe's arm* You're just as precious to me as everything and everyone else i care about!
Joe: Jane...what kind of father would I be if I hid while the rest of my children risk their lives out there? I have to do this to protect them, and you.
Jane: *looks at Joe for a few seconds and squeezes Joe's hand* If you're gonna do this...just please...PLEASE...be careful...i...i don't know...what i'll do...if i
loose you, Dad... *starts tearing up*
Joe: I will, darling. You be brave and stay safe, and keep these two out of trouble. *winks at Kirsty and Mittie*
Kirsty: We’ll be okay! (Joe gives a little kiss on Jane’s forehead) Jane: Please be okay, Dad...
Joe: I will... (He transforms and flies off)
(Jane holds onto Kirsty and Mittie, as Owl leaves the house)
(Owl flies to a roof where the other holders are waiting)
Leo: There you are Owl Dad!
Owl: Did everyone arrive safely?
Hound: Yep!
Owl: Good; hopefully this won’t be like Party Maniac Where we get separated and captured. Tiger: Knock on wood. Owl: So we have to find the akuma
Timber: Yeah, and once we do, we beat the crap out of him! Like we usually do.
Coral: I still can’t believe we’re living this stupid movie...
Owl: How is this "stupid"? From what i heard from Jane, it actually sounds terrifying having a day where every crime in the nation be legal.
Leo: Yeah, but they never explain WHY or HOW it works and causes World Peace! Pacific: I hear the other movies are better since it’s really just a ploy from the government to kill off all the poor people
Owl: O_O Well, i have to disagree with the fact this “Purge” causes World Peace. Peace cannot be achieved through death and destruction, and using it to eliminate the
poor is just sick and wr- Cyber: Can we talk about those films AFTER we deal with the Akuma?!
Atlantic: PLEASE
Owl: Fine...
(They start looking for the akuma)
(As they search for the Akuma, they look and see that a couple of people have taken advantage of the Purge, such as people breaking into stores and stealing whatever
they want)
Swan: It looks like no ones stooped to murdering yet
Timber: Yeah... (Suddenly, Timber’s ears perked up, hearing the sound of a dog crying)
Timber: Oh HELL no...! (He immediately jumps away from the group towards the noise) Cyber: Jordan?!
(Timber follows the noise until he sees a man cornering a dog, shaking and crying in fear) (The man raises a gun near the dog with a wicked grin on his face)
Man: No more howling at 2am for you! Finally I can get some sleep!
(Timber glares at the man and leaps down towards the dog)
(He knocks the gun away just as it fires, making it fire into the air) Timber: Hey now, what kind of prick goes around shooting innocent dogs for fun? >:(
Man: The ones who want some FUCKING sleep! >:(
Timber: It’s a STRAY! It doesn’t know any better!
Man: Who cares?! It’s been keeping me awake every single night! About time I shut that little fucker’s face for good! >:(
Timber: Okay then... (He sucker punches the man and knocks him out)
Timber: That’ll teach ya! >:( (He looks at the stray dog, who’s tail was wagging at Timber)
Timber: Okay, buddy, head back to where ya came from and stay outta trouble, okay?
(The dog barks and walks away)
(Timber smiles as the dog walks away, then he jumps up and runs to reunite with the group)
Cyber: Jordan! What on earth was that about, you scared me to death!
Timber: I saved a stray from a psycho, that’s what I did.
Hound: Awwwww dad!! Looking out for my army :Dc
Timber: Yep! No dog’s gonna get killed tonight or ever! >:(
Atlantic: There are some real scumbags out there...
Leo: Yeah...
(They keep looking)
(After a few minutes, they hear a car explosion followed by gunshots)
Frill: Okay, NOW it sounds like we’re in a Purge movie!
(They look and see two large groups of people having an all out war with each other)
Timber: *listens to the yelling* Oh... -_- (The other strong listeners listen in too) Hound: Well... Tiger: I’m not THAT shocked...
(The non-strong listeners look at them with a confused look) Cyber: What? What are they yelling about?!
Scarlet: Sports!
Cyber: ...They're having an all out war...over sports? -_-
Pacific: Oh...that makes sense...sports fans are bloodthirsty...
Dasher: They pull off all kinds of crazy shit all because their team lost or something... -_-
Timber: And judging by this...this could get ugly...
Leo: Yeah, let's get out of here before things get worse... O_O
(They Head off and keep looking)
(As they keep going, more noises and sounds can be heard, like car crashes, more gunshots, screams, and at one point, every screeched to a halt as they saw a whole
bunch of big fireworks go off)
Jade: Goodness...! O_O
The dude that lighted up the fireworks: YEAH BABY! LIGHT UP THE SKY!! WOOOOO!!!! >:D
Maiden: *shudders remembering Party Maniac* Whew! Bad memories...
Cloudy: Yeah! (In the corner of Dasher’s eye, he sees someone walking out with a bunch of DVDs labeled “Hamilton Bootleg”) Dasher: *GASP* >:O
Timber: *takes his shoulder* Pick your battles Speedy...
Dasher: B-B-But THAT asshole has bootlegs of MY SHOW!! >:(((
Papillion: Bootlegs aren’t THAT bad you know...it lets people see shows that they can’t afford... Hound: Plus it’s IMPOSSIBLE to get tickets to YOUR shows
Dasher: True...but seeing those bootlegs doesn't have the same magic as seeing them live... :(
Natura: Trust me, we know Papillion: If anything, bootlegs make us want to see them live even MORE
Dasher: Wait, really?! O_O
Hound: You think we LIKE watching shows with shitty visuals and audio?! It sucks!! But it’s the best we got so we suck it up
Dasher: *crosses his arms* Even though that kind of stuff is pretty much illegal to make, i...can see why you're all willing to do that... :/
Atlantic: Can we please discuss all these illegal things AFTER shit isn’t blowing up??
Dasher: Oh! Right! Man, we are getting off-topic tonight, aren't we? XD
Leo: Yeah XD (They head off)
(They keep going, hearing and seeing all the things people are doing in the Purge, until they see where the Akuma's "lair" is. The Akuma settled himself in City Hall,
walls painted in blood red paint and a large army of mind controlled soldiers with guns and masks on their faces stand in front of city hall)
Leo: Of course -_-
Tiger: Sooo...do we fight the army of soldiers or do we just simply break in? :/c
Inferno: I think we'd all prefer to break in and get out of this with as little blood as possible XS
Cyber: Yeah, the last thing we need is a little bloodshed *looks at Timber* Especially you, Jordan.
Timber: Then don't put yourself in a position to get hurt. *passive aggressive stares*
Cyber: I won't, hopefully...
Ursa: Maybe you should stop being a human shield for once. Timber: Maybe you should mind your goddamn business. >:(
Ursa: Oh, i'm sorry! Didn't mean to OFFEND the living shield for ONE man who literally has the power to defend himself if he activates it! >:(
Timber: Adrenaline makes you do stupid shit, Matt! And for your information, Silver Claws DOESN'T make me invincible, I'd STILL get stabbed or shot! >:(
Ursa: Even so, your HUSBAND, as Cyber Shock, can defend himself! He can use electricity for whatever he wants! Hell, he could electrocute a foe if he wanted to! With
that kind of power in his hands, he doesn't NEED a living shield defending him! >:(
Hound: To be fair, this usually happens when Cyber has no time to defend himself or shock away the problem...
Ursa: So? Even in those kind of scenarios, you SHOULDN'T be risking your own life just so Eric could live! >:(
Atlantic: GUYS!!! Akuma now, controversial romantic bullshit later!! >:(
Timber: ...Fine *glares at Ursa*
(They sneak above the army and break into the building)
(Once they got into the building, they see a large group of mind controlled soldiers, standing there and ready to fire at them)
Tiger: ...Fuck. Frill: *jumps in front with Coral* IMMUNE SHIELD!! (Everyone ducks behind Coral and Frill as the soldiers open fire, hitting the shield and Coral's shell)
Leo: Jesus Christ!! O_O
Pacific: Thank god for shields!!!
Tiger: Yeah!!
(Eventually the bullets run out)
(The soldiers immediately throw the guns away and pull out knifes, bats, and other weapons)
Dasher: Okay, close combat! Much better! (They fight)
(The soldiers and the Armada fight each other, the Soldiers wanting to deal heavy blows on them. During the fight, while Timber was busy trying to beat up a soldier,
another soldier sneaked attacked Cyber and used a sharp knife to make a deep cut on Cyber's arm)
(Cyber screams and clutches his arm before shocking him)
(Timber hears Cyber's scream)
Timber: Will?! Cyber: I'm okay...!
(They keep fighting for a while, eventually, they manage to beat all the soldiers. However, the whole Armada had bloody cuts, stab wounds, and bruises all over their
bodies, Atlantic and Timber being the only ones to have bloody broken noses)
(They all stand together, breathing heavily)
Owl: Thank the heavens...we all...miraculously...survived...
Hound: Pun...intended...?
Owl: No...it's...a miracle...we lived...through this...brutal brawl...
Tiger: Dude...it's a joke...we're 'Miraculous' holders...and...we did something...MIRACULOUS...
Owl: Oh...forgive me...that fight...really messed with my mind...so i wasn't thinking straight...
Leo: Let's just...get the akuma...
Timber: Yeah...let's...go...
(They make it to the main office)
(They see the Akuma, sitting in the office chair like a throne. He looks at the Armada and smirks widely)
Akuma: You all made it, bravo
Akuma: And look at all of you! I'm surprised you all survived my soldier defense squad! >:)
Tiger: Don't...fuck with us...
Akuma: Well *gets up from the chair* now i'm gonna fuck you all up more! >:)
Atlantic: Great...fuck you...
(The Akuma leaps towards them and they start fighting)
(The holders shakily fight, still exhausted from the soldiers)
(The akuma takes advantage of this by grabbing the chair and throwing it at Cyber, and it hits)
(The chair hits Cyber and he falls down and struggles to get up)
Timber: WILL...!!
(Cyber tries to shock him, but the akuma stomps on his chest and pulls out a knife) Akuma: Say goodbye! (Right when he's about to stab, Timber steps in and blocks it with his claws)
Akuma: What the?!
Timber: You keep away from him!! *pushes the akuma off Cyber*
Akuma: AH! *stumbles as Timber pushes him away*
Cyber: Jordan...
Timber: Will!
(Timber helps him up) Timber: You okay? Cyber: Yeah...and look at that, you saved me in a way that didn’t involve you getting hurt ;)
Timber: Heh, yeah! :)
Timber: But let’s not get our hopes too high while it’s still chaos
Cyber: Yeah...
Akuma: *growls at Timber* So...tough guy, huh? Swooping in to save the damsel?
Timber: Yes, that's what i do if Will's in danger! >:(
Akuma: How touching...
Akuma: Well, if you're willing to save HIM *he quickly grabs Leo and Hound and lifts them up by the neck* Will you save them? >:)
Cyber and Timber: HEY!!
(The Akuma tightens his grip on Leo and Hound, waiting for Cyber and Timber to act)
(Cyber then shoots lightning at the akuma at rapid speed, making him let go of the boys)
Akuma: GAH!
(The boys run to their dads)
Leo and Hound: DAD!
(They push the boys behind them) Timber: Stay behind us, boys.
Hound: Alright...!
(Cyber and Timber glare at the akuma)
(The Akuma glares back at them)
Akuma: Well, what a nice little family we have here
Akuma: Even so, you’re all in a pretty bad shape to do anything! I like to see you all try taking me down! >:)
Timber: Yeah...but at least there's 29 of us...and only one of you...
Dasher: Even if your little army fucked us up, we can still fuck YOU up! >:(
(The fight continues)
(The Holders try the best the can to give it their all against the Akuma, inspite their injuries.)
(The akuma manages to keep up with all of them due to them being tired and slightly injured)
Timber: Come on...!! (They keep fighting)
Akuma: God this is annoying...do you know how hard it is to pick a hostage with this many heroes? >:(
Timber: Wait, what?!
Akuma: I didn't want to do this, but I had to think outside the box if I wanted to keep you down...so I did. >:) (He opens a cabinet, revealing Jane curled up inside, looking a bit ruffled from being taken; she looks up at the holders, but doesn't move or speak) Akuma: Don't worry about that; she knows that if she makes a peep or a move then her little girlfriend's done for. >:)
Owl: JANE!!
(Jane tears up, but doesn't speak as she stares at him)
(Owl glares at the Akuma, anger building up)
Jade: What did you do with Kirsty?! Akuma: The runt? Oh she's somewhere else in this building, but all I have to do is press a button *holds up a remote* And she's done for. (Jane squeezes her eyes shut and hugs her knees in despair)
(Owl fumes with anger upon seeing Jane hugging her knees in despair)
Owl: You're a monster...!
Akuma: Of course i am! I'm an Akuma after all! >:)
(The holders glare at him) Leo: *softly* now what?!
(Cyber looks at Owl, who's shaking in anger)
Cyber: *softly* We need to find Kirsty, or at least get that remote away from him...
Timber: *softly* Yeah...
Karma: *softly* Leave that to me... Camouflage...!
(Karma turns invisible)
(He sneaks around to the akuma, eyes on the remote)
(Once he got close to the Akuma, he snatches the remote out of the Akuma's hands)
Akuma: What the-?! (Owl then storms forwards and punches the akuma’s face, HARD)
(The Akuma gets knocked down to the ground and Owl pins him down by the neck, glaring and growling at the Akuma in rage)
Owl: You have CROSSED THE LINE!!
Owl: No one shall EVER harm MY DAUGHTER AND HER GIRLFRIEND!! >:(((((
Owl: Now where did you put Kirsty?!
Akuma: Erk...i'm not...telling...! >:(
Dasher: I’ll scour the building; gimme ten, fifteen seconds tops >:(
Owl: Do it as fast as you can, Dasher! Dasher: Yes sir! *runs off*
(Ten seconds later, he comes back) Dasher: I found her! Jade: ...And? Dasher: ...And we’re gonna need some special treatment to get her out in one piece...
The Trinity: WHAT?!
Dasher: Yeeeah theres shit involving a guillotine and I think I saw some fireworks and trip wires down there, guy spared no expense...
Owl: *glares at the akuma* ...You were going to ANNIHILATE Kirsty?!?! >:((( *tightens his hold on the akuma*
Akuma: Erk...!! (Leo and Hound get Jane out of the cabinet and comfort her)
(Jane holds onto Leo and Hound tightly, letting out a few sobs)
Hound: It’s okay, we’ll get Kirsty back... (The kids gather around them for extra comfort)
Timber: Alright...how are we gonna get Kirsty out of there in one piece?
Cyber: Dasher, lead us to where she is; Timber, Atlantic, Jade, Scarlet, with me, the rest of you make sure the akuma doesn’t get away...
Ursa: *nods* Alright.
(They follow Dasher and they lead him down to the basement of the building)
(Once they got to the basement, they see Kirsty and everything else around her)
(She’s tied up and her head is under a guillotine; the whole room is packed full of explosives and tons of trip wires are set up that one wrong move would either set
off the explosives or the guillotine)
Scarlet: Oh god, baby sis...!!
Kirsty: *crying* Help....
Jade: D-Don't worry...! We'll get you out Little Sister! Somehow...
Cyber: Oh boy...
Timber: Yeah, we gotta think of some way to get her out of there without triggering anything... :/c
Cyber: Quantum Analysis!
Dasher: Oh! Kinda forgot you could do that! (A visor appears in front of Cyber’s face, observing and analyzing the area)
(He gathers the data) Cyber: Oh boy... Timber: What? Cyber: There’s a solution but...there’s a VERY small window for error... Scarlet: How small? Cyber: Microscopic Atlantic: So...If we mess up ONE little thing- Cyber: Kirsty won’t make it...
Scarlet: Ooooooh... O_O
(Everyone looks uneasily at the set up)
Timber: So if we want Kirsty alive...we gotta do this PERFECTLY. No mess-ups, no mistakes.
Cyber: Yes...okay, I think I got this...this should work...
Timber: So what's the plan, Peach?
(Cyber directs everyone to their proper positions)
Dasher: Alright, let’s do this!
(They execute the plan, and the trinity slowly make their way to Kirsty, but at the very end, right when Jade is seconds from disarming the guillotine...) Tiger: *opens the door* Guys!! You down here! (Everyone jumps and Jade knocks into one of the wires holding up the blade and it breaks, the blade falling towards Kirsty's neck)
Atlantic: OH FUCK!!
(Everyone screams in horror) Scarlet: NOOOOOOOOO!!! (Scarlet leaps up right between Kirsty and the blade and stops it between his hands, milimeters from his own face)
Dasher: Holy shit! O_O
(Cyber just about collapses to his knees from shock) Timber: DAMN kid!! Good reflexes!!
Scarlet: Erk...thanks...!
(Jade quickly jumps down and removes the blade and pulls Kirsty out while Scarlet collapses in relief)
Scarlet: Thank god...!
(Jade unties Kirsty who clings to him tightly)
Jade: You're safe now, little sister...thank god we saved you...
Kirsty: Y-Yeah...
(Kirsty keeps clinging onto Jade tightly)
Cyber: My god...that tiny window for failure shouldn't have been possible to fix...but Scarlet did it...!
Timber: Yeah, holy damn...! O_O
Scarlet: Never again...
Atlantic: Yeah...that was too close...
Dasher: Let's just get out of here, get the akuma and restore the damage before we all die of heart attacks...
Cyber: Y-Yeah...let's go...
(Jade carries Kirsty and they leap over the explosives to the stairs and they all hurry out of the basement)
(They run down the hall and towards the main office)
(They burst into the room, hearts still pounding from what happened) Leo: Whoa, you okay? Cyber: Yes, just...had a very close call...but we're okay... (He steps aside, revealing Jade carrying Kirsty)
Jade: And...she's okay...thank god...
Jane: KIRSTY!!! (She runs up and takes her from Jade)
(Jane hugs Kirsty tightly)
(Jane peppers her with kisses) Jane: Oh my god, Kirsty...!!
Kirsty: Janey...!!
Jane: God I was so scared...
Kirsty: Me too...!
(Owl sighs in relief and yanks the akuma off)
(He crushes the Akuma and a black bird flies out)
(Cyber purifies it) Owl: Time to end this nightmare. Cyber: *nods* Restore the Damage!
(A ring of electricity flies out and restores all the damage)
(Everything is fixed and everyone is returned home) Hound: Oh thank god...
Coral: Let's get out of here, these late night akumas always fuck up by beauty sleep schedule...
Owl: Yes, but... *looks at the injuries that were given to the soldiers earlier* We're all pretty beaten up from those soldiers...
Tiger: Nothing a few bandages can't fix, no need to spend the night in a stiff hospital bed Pacific: Yeah; can everyone still walk in a straight line?
(Everyone raises their hand, however Cyber glares at Pacific, gesturing the deep cut wound on his arm)
Pacific: Okay yeah, but you can still walk with that. Tiger: More like we know your hubby's gonna carry you everywhere >;3
(Before Cyber could say anything, Timber immediately scoops him up and carries him in his arms) Timber: You red my mind! XD
Cyber: God why... Tiger: Dude, you're married and love dovey now, no need to be embarrassed
Timber: Yeah, come on Peach, you know that by now! XD
Owl: *picks up Jane and Kirsty* I'll escort these two home; I imagine Kirsty doesn't want to be alone tonight. (Kirsty frantically shakes her head and keeps clinging to Jane)
Jane: Of course not...
Timber: *to Cyber* Think you can teach me how to make a good arm cast? ;)
Cyber: ...Sure...
Leo: That's probably a good call, if people hurt each other during this, hospitals are gonna be SUPER crowded
Hound: Yeah and no room for us! XS
(They all leave and head back home)

A bit of a late reply to the 2.1 ask but yeah I agree with a lot of your thoughts haha, ei and miko were just aaaaa i love whatever they have going on lol, felt like i was third wheeling a very intimate moment in the plane of euthymia. I’ve seen a lot of people complaining how Raiden’s quest was almost another date, and on one hand i agree but on the other it’s at least nice to see she has a softer side too, and balancing that with how she’s still strict with the Kujou clan heir and that stuff. But god. Zhongli and Venti need to drag her out of her sword and make her see Inazuma for herself more (or at least rule the place herself like you said 😩). i was disappointed by that too; after all this time we’re the only ones seeing the “””real”” ei while everyone else still sees Raiden… on the other hand I’ve absolutely fallen in love with yae so something good came out of it
big mood about signora too rip I wasn’t super attached to her but the way she got killed off felt like it should’ve had more of an impact,,, probably related to the way 2.1 played out and how it was definitely rushed. I think it was a good quest and was interesting, but it gave us Way too much content that all the major points felt uneventful and so many of the things they stressed in the trailer ended up being irrelevant? Idk i feel like a lot of it was kinda unsatisfying because they tried squeezing in too much
-welcometoteyvat (also sorry for the extra long rant! I hope you’re doing alright today)
ahh it's really nice discussing our thoughts about the quests :< ty for indulging me! i hope you're doing good too !!
2.1 SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
fr! it really did feel like third wheeling, didn't it? PWAHAHA god, i'm definitely rolling for yae if she becomes playable!
oh yes, i saw people complaining about that on twt too and i agree but also, for ei, i don't think it was as "unnecessary" in comparison to the other girls' quests if ygm? and as you said, it was nice to see a softer side—to see the duality between ei and the shogun.
after all this time we’re the only ones seeing the “””real”” ei while everyone else still sees Raiden…
omg you put my thoughts into words! i think it's the same with the other archons for me: how people only see one side of them. might be a tad controversial but i find it weird how the in-game don't know what rex lapis did behind the scenes when he faked his death just to step down his position as an archon. does it not seem selfish? i get that he might've done it to "protect his people" in some ways but could he not just have straight up told them he wanted to step down? it would've still resulted in him abdicating. it doesn't make up for him almost causing, granted it was indirectly, the drowning of liyue (not to mention, the literal destruction ningguang's house!)
i don't want to rant too much about unrelated topics lol but i guess you could argue that people, in inazuma at least, always saw raiden as "good" - or still believed that their archon had good reason for her judgement - despite the vision hunt decree and everything. don't get me wrong, i do like zhongli's character but it just doesn't sit right with me... (sorry! this mostly comes from how critical irl people were about baal's character before her story quest when there are characters who are/were equally as shady)
back to the subject at hand AHAHA mhm the pacing almost belittles the resistance and, in turn, what they rightfully stood up for was diminished. oh well, i'm not gonna say no to a happy ending i suppose... even if the journey towards it wasn't as satisfying as i expected it to be 🤷‍♀️
